    This was my first mario game, but by the end of it I felt like I'd always known mario. The nostalgia trip in New donk city is amazing! The game's difficulty is also really well balanced, there are a lot of easy moons for beginners, but if you want a challenge, some of the moond and levels are infuriatingly challenging. Incredible replayability.

    This game is the best 3D platformer period. It is unique at the same time as being familiar. Super Mario Odyssey is what Mario has led up to since Super Mario Brothers in 1985.

    Easily the best 3D jump‘n run which was ever made. And who could made this better than Nintendo the maker of the awesome Mario 64 before 2 decades. The gameplay is perfectly done on a level on which just a handful of games has ever claimed it. All in all this makes this game to the best available for the Switch today.

    I am not the biggest fan of Mario games, I just like them. But this game has a lot of personality, all the kingdoms are different and very well desinged. The gameplay i'ts excellent, and its very imppressive to see how a 35 years old franchise is still fresh and has new ideas for new games. Another think I like is that the main story is not too difficult but not too easy, so almostI am not the biggest fan of Mario games, I just like them.     I enjoy open world collectathon games and oh boy did I enjoy mario odyssey. Overall top tier 3D Mario game. Doesn’t really have that much replay value after collecting everything except if you like to speed run games.

    My boy Mario is back at it again. So much fun and nostalgic feels all up in there folks. The gameplay and music is very well done. The story is classic and iconic with some twists here and there you may not expect. I love it and would recommend to Mario fans and just people who love games! Stay safe out there.

    The best Mario game ever made. It takes the tried and tested formula and adds the small twist of being able to capture enemies which gives the game this whole new fresh feeling. In the past few years it’s the only game I have wanted to 100% complete to the maximum.

    Gameplay is the best in the 3D Mario Series. Has all the moves from 64 and sunshine and more. Cappy is an amazing partner as well as tool to access areas, capturing enemies and using them is addicting and never gets old. The world design is also the best in the Mario series with challenges and lovely sights to see and explore and do parkour.

    Personally 9/10, professionally 10/10, and I dare not present that score differently.
    What can I say. Loved exploring the Mushroom Kingdom, loved finding every purple coin in amazingly designed New Donk City, loved wandering around Shiveria Town, loved beating the bosses, loved every single opportunity to get another moon and loved bumping into Captain Toad every so often. I LOVED    Personally 9/10, professionally 10/10, and I dare not present that score differently.
    What can I say. Loved exploring the Mushroom Kingdom, loved finding every purple coin in amazingly designed New Donk City, loved wandering around Shiveria Town, loved beating the bosses, loved every single opportunity to get another moon and loved bumping into Captain Toad every so often. I LOVED climbing up the skyscraper to a music festival, that section alone made the game for me.
    I had some trouble staying focused on this game so I didn't "binge-play" it, after every session feeling like I'm probably not gonna play it ever again but then, every once in a while I just couldn't shake the feeling that I want to play more of it just because of how fun it looks, so I always came back for a few hours and loved every second of it.
    On a more personal note: I wish they had given more incentives to chase after all those moons, since, sure, they were hidden in a lot of creative ways and just seeking them was fun, but I didn't feel encouraged enough to go after all of them because it felt like there was no real reward for that..    … Expand

    What a truly phenomenal game. It was so clear throughout the entire journey that so much love went into this game, and this was the first Mario game in a long time that really had me hooked the entire journey. I can not recommend this game enough and would highly recommend any Switch owner to buy this game ASAP!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This may be the most joyful game I’ve ever played. It is colorful, vibrant, and the music is phenomenal. Mario controls and plays exactly how you’d want, and cappy(your hat) opens up so many new possibilities. Some kingdoms don’t exactly feel like they could exist in the same world as the others, but they are all a blast to explore with the stars of the show being cascade kingdom, metro kingdom, and bowser’s kingdom. As far as gripes go, the base game feels a couple hours too short and a bit too easy, but that’s only because there is such an amazing, fun filled postgame, packed with more(and harder) content. This is some of the most fun I’ve had playing any game. Not only is it my favorite 3D platformer, it’s my favorite mario game.… Expand

    I never had the opportunity to play other 3D Mario games before, so I cant compare with other past games, but looking just to this game it was a amazing experience! Gameplay, exploration, soundtracks. Exploration was the best part, I never wanna rush any kingdom. And has such good details, really incredible game.

    You know you can expect high quality for a flagship Mario game, and this game is no different. It's a very polished experience with great visuals, soundtrack and gameplay (including coop gameplay).

    However, it's a bit too easy for my taste and personally I don't find any replayability whatsoever in this game which is a bit of a let down.

    The best 3D Mario game ever made. Sure, Galaxy was good but Odyssey takes it to another level. I don't think I've ever had this much fun playing a Mario game since Super Mario World.

Every kingdom contains countless learning curves, keeping the world fresh even for completionists, such as myself. The moons force people to get creative, whether it is by jumping off cars to get on top of a building or speeding throughSuper Mario Odyssey never fails to run out of ideas. All locations (also known as 'kingdoms') are as pleasing to look at as they are unique to each other. Every kingdom contains countless learning curves, keeping the world fresh even for completionists, such as myself. The moons force people to get creative, whether it is by jumping off cars to get on top of a building or speeding through a time trial as fast as possible. Odyssey's boss battles truly test what you have learned in that kingdom making them incredibly satisfying to defeat. Every boss battle gradually gets more difficult at such a pace it's not overwhelmingly hard, not too easy, but just fun! Whenever you think the game can't get any better, guess what, IT DOES! With all this praise it still has some issues. Some moons are incredibly tedious, the motion controls are not very responsive, checkpoints are very far apart, and the multiplayer is very underwhelming. Although, with all these mistakes I still can not recommend this game enough.… Expand

    I 100%'d this game a while ago, and I just love it to bits. not nearly as good as Breath Of The Wild obviously, but it is my favorite Mario game.

    Where to even begin. I got this game back with my switch in 2017, and I immediately loved it. I beat it with a week and I got nearly every moon. Yes, the story is simple, but it was executed well, and a Mario game doesn't need a deep story. the graphics are really good especially for a switch game.     This was the first game I got for my Switch and man did it not disappoint whatsoever. New Donk City, Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser's Kingdom all shine as the better locations, and the music drives this game up to a 10/10 for me. Pure bliss.

    An undeniably fun adventure let down by it's difficulty.

    The good:
    - Mario's movement feels fantastic
    - the game looks and sounds amazing
    - enjoyable boss fights
    - coins can be spent on customisation

    The bad:
    - no sort of challenge until you reach the endgame
    - some kingdoms feel like cut content
    - lots of moons require repetitive, mundane tasks to obtain

    Easily the best 3-D Mario yet. Harkens back to the open exploration of 64 and Sunshine, yet with a much much bigger world to explore, and simply ridiculous amounts of content. The gameplay is creative and diverse, and the platforming segments live up to the best content from the galaxy games.

    A good game, but a bit too boring for me. The moves aren't as cool as I thought and the overall game isn't as good as it is always presented by users and Nintendo. I definitely see its qualities, but it's not perfect in my opinion.

    Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy have objectives for its collectibles (Stars or Shines) that encourage you to explore    I have to say that this a really good game, however, not all about it is perfect.

    There are way too many Power Moons in worlds that are not open at all, Mario Oddysey was sold with the idea of an open-world game, but some maps are reduced like a Mario 64 normal level and make you think that was just marketing for the game.
    Talking about moons again, some of them are in rare places that were put there because yes. Collect the rest of the moons doesn't feel fun at all, it becomes tedious after a while, and having a lot of moons around the map breaks the point of collecting the main ones.

    I hate to say this, but comparing Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, and Mario Galaxy, Oddysey was my least favorite. The experience was satisfactory but less fun than previous Mario titles.    … Expand

    From beginning to end, this game is a blast all the way through. Cappy controls better than I expected, and the capture mechanic is fun and intuitive. And the game seems never-ending, with more than 800 power moons.

    Mario odyssey is an amazing Game!!! I don’t like it AS Much as Breath Of The Wild But it’s Still AMAZING. Very much like 3D Mario's before it, (like sunshine's fludd and galaxy's gravity mechanics) Odyssey introduced Cappy. The mechanic is fun to play with and makes this 3D Mario stand out from the rest. Great game.

    It's a masterpiece! The graphics, the gameplay, the plot, etc. Each kingdom has a unique atmosphere that makes you want to be there. It's collect-a-thon esc gameplay is very fun, and I highly recommend playing this glorious game.

    Joyous, fun and wonderful to play. "Completed" levels reward you returning with new goals. You feel a sense of accomplishment. Amazing lands, glorious music and a dragon that could be straight from Game of Thrones, totally unexpected in Mario's universe.

    Super Mario Odyssey was the first switch game I picked up and recently I decided to reboot it and start again. The graphics are superb, it holds a storyline that kept me captivated and contained a great blend of some easy, and some frustratingly (and excitedly) difficult levels to captivate even the non-completionists.     I really wanted to love this game more than anything. I played Mario 64 on the DS as a kid and it was one of my favorite games and I love it to this day. Unfortunately, Odyssey just didn't vibe with me as much as it did for the majority of everyone else. I thought that the Moon collection system in the game was incredibly repetitive and honestly became a chore for me. I did not feel anyI really wanted to love this game more than anything. This was probably because of how easy the game is. The game is such an easy breeze that it felt meaningless to me. The capture mechanic was the coolest thing to me when I first tried it out on every enemy but it got old WAY too fast. The visuals are very striking and love that the game runs at a stable 60fps which absolutely makes this the most visually impressive Mario game yet. The controls feel super snappy and the music is incredible. Unfortunately though, these positives straight up do not outweigh the negatives to me. As I already mentioned, the moment-to-moment gameplay just does not feel meaningful to me because of the game's lack of difficulty and collectables (the integral Moon system). This, by all means, does not mean the game is bad but it doesn't mean it's amazing either :/… Expand

Great sounds, great visuals and quite fun too. There are very few power moons that I find myself not wanting to get at all and there's a lot of variety in the gameplay itself.     First of all i think you need to play this game. İ highly recommend it. Mario Odyssey is the advanced version of Mario 64. İ hate Mario 64 it was a realy bad game (Mario 64 didn't have any camera control) but Mario Odyssey take the Mario 64 then make it much more colourful and enjoyable.

    Gameplay and controls are simple yet sometimes it's tricky to get to some hidden places, and that's cool, how it should be.
    Mechanics seem endless but they are limited by the certain amount of objects/NPCs you can control.
    The story itself is original, shares a whole lot about Mario's world! The game is perfectly made for fans.
    Visuals... well that's just Mario. It's not a matter of smooth visuals but it's so colorful and juicy, I loved it.
    Sounds and music. Sound design is on a high level. Music is so diverse, I enjoyed lots of level themes.

    Its a modern mario game. Even though half of the 1000 moons are easy to get, collecting them all still gives you something to do. There are even some challenging stars to get as well. If you feel you're a hardcore gamer, this is more casual, but still if you want all the moons, will give you enough game time to be worth the $60.

    Super Mario Odyssey is a game that has pushed 3D Mario Back where it should be, and that place is large open world experiences, and simple linear segments combined. The settings are very unique and and the fact that this game was made for both casual players and speed-runners is so cool. The game is a bit too easy for my liking, but that shouldn't be a reason for not to play this game.

    This game is a thrilling masterpiece. The moment you start the game everything is great. The movement options are absolutely wonderful. Cappy is a great addition to the game and i hope to see him again because he opens an endless amount of possibilities for the player. If i could play one game for the rest of my life, it would have to be mario odyssey. My favorite game of all time 10/10

    this is the game that got me to buy a switch back in 2018, and i dont regret it. i was so excited to play i got through the story on my first night with it, and yet ive been continually coming back for more. im still yet to get all 890 moons, plus the possibilities for challenge runs and speedrunning. absolute must play, and probably the best in the mario series.

    I am just lost for words. The spirit of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine lives on in this game. It was as if I stepped into a portal to my childhood.

    I personally prefer the more linear Marios, but there’s no denying that this game is a modern masterpiece in every way. The animations are lively, the worlds are well designed, and Mario’s move set is a ton of fun. Great game.

    Galaxy 1 and 2 will always be two of my favorite games of all time. But for mario odyssey to almost live up to those are extremely hard tasks!

Though it was probably my own fault, since I only collected the bare minimum of required moons to run the ship. My second time around with the game was much more gratifying since I tried to collect as many moons from each world as I could. Even so, I felt the devs should have increased the required amount of moons needed to fuel the ship.

    The underlying structure of game progression is the same. Collect a number of these, unlock new worlds, get to Bowser. But I love the fact that the game didn’t boot me out of the world after collecting a moon. This meant each world could have a crap ton of moons, without any discontinuity. Most of them involved a clever puzzle, mini-game, or hiding spot. Among my favorite were the classic 2D platforming sequences. The gameplay really wasn’t anything special, but something about seeing the oldest Mario game, in the newest Mario game made me smile. Other moons warped me to a separate mini platforming game, usually with a little twist. Most were pretty fun, and changed things up a bit.

    And we can’t talk about Odyssey without talking about the cap, which basically made Mario into Kirby. Taking control of classic Mario baddies was a lot of fun. Even just running around as a goomba was amusing. Each had some ability that would help level progression. Goombas could walk on ice. Latikus could fish out moons. Tanks could blast through rock barriers. Flying drybones could get my past lava. Just a bunch of cool abilities. I found myself throwing my hat at every moving thing to see if I could posses it. My favorite by far were these long legged nut enemies. Winding them up to reach places was a neat way to explore the forest world.    … Expand

    Surprisingly cap-tivating game. Not being a huge Mario fan, I've started playing Odyssey without high expectations and ended up being blown away by it. It's a fantastic game with just the right amount of exploration without being pushed into it too much, variety of great worlds with splendid designs and great game design perks.

    While it was difficult to imagine how Nintendo could top previous 3D Mario adventures, Super Mario Odyssey is nigh-on perfect in almost every way. With the help of Cappy, Mario has never been as fun to control, reaching new heights and, in the hands of a skilled player, accomplishing impossible skips. You need only pick up a controller to see why this is the best modern Mario game ever.

    The best entry to the best platforming series is so ridiculously huge it’s like a theme park made of theme parks. It’s a wonderful tribute to Super Mario 64, but it’s not a lazy homage.
