    All this time waiting was honestly worth it. Metroid Dread is easily one of my top games of, especially on the switch. The gameplay is fast paced, but also really smooth and fluid. The control scheme is honestly been the best out of any Metroid game so far, and has improved drastically. The cutscenes are honestly amazing, the boss fights are challenging but really enjoyable, and the storyAll this time waiting was honestly worth it. Metroid Dread is easily one of my top games of, especially on the switch. The gameplay is fast paced, but also really smooth and fluid. The control scheme is honestly been the best out of any Metroid game so far, and has improved drastically. The cutscenes are honestly amazing, the boss fights are challenging but really enjoyable, and the story was so good. This game doesn't joke around, and you will die a LOT, though after a few deaths here and there you will learn and eventually push through; the game just requires some learning. I've played this game and completed it 100% and I can say this is a must play.… Expand

    Great conclusion to the Metroid arch!! Great plot twists, amazing boss fights and beautiful controls. As a Metroid fan, I am not dissappinted, at all! One of the best Metroid games of all time.

    Despues de terminar el juego, me quede impresionado por toda la dedicacion de parte de MercurySteam y Nintendo en realizar este juego, que sin duda alguna sera un candidato a GOTY, sin hacer spoiler, si te gusta la exploracion, un combate fluido, buenos controles, graficos buenos, todos los apartados estan bien cuidados, la batalla de jefes es de las mejores que se han mostrado en laDespues de terminar el juego, me quede impresionado por toda la dedicacion de parte de MercurySteam y Nintendo en realizar este juego, que sin duda alguna sera un candidato a GOTY, sin hacer spoiler, si te gusta la exploracion, un combate fluido, buenos controles, graficos buenos, todos los apartados estan bien cuidados, la batalla de jefes es de las mejores que se han mostrado en la franquicia y eso es decir mucho.

    Gameplay: 10
    - Un combate fluido, recomiendo el uso del pro controller ya que permite un agarre comodo y fluido, al principio te tomara tiempo agarrarle la onda a los controles pero una vez que sabes que hace casa boton te responde tan bien, Samus literalmente se mueve hacia donde tu quieres, el power beam, los misiles, la morph ball, todos los añadidos estan bien utilizados, la batalla contra los jefes es de las mejores que he visto en un juego en 2D y el uso de los controles, el gameplay fluido, una samus versatil en todo momento hacw de esto un gameplay 10 de 10

    Historia: 10
    - Al inicio te dan una explicacion de los puntos clave de lo que tienes que saber para entender esta historia, Metroid no se caracteriza por tener una historia dificil de entender pero se caracteriza por tener un mundo enriquecedor en donde puedes adentrarte en su ambiente, en Metroid hay mucha historia contada por movimientos de enemigos hacia Samus, sin hacer spoiler esta historia es la epica conclusion de Samus con los enemigos conocidos como Metroid, sin duda alguna los fans veteranos y los nuevos quedaran impresionados con lo que sucede en este juego.

    Exploración: 10
    - Sin duda alguna la exploración es algo clave en los juegos de Metroid, este juego no solo te invita a que explores sino que te hace evaluar bien la situacion de peligro en la que se encuentra Samus, el mapeado es increible te dice cada detalle para que te ubiques mejor durante tu experiencia, el ambiente se siente increible los fondos en 3D son impresionantes sin duda alguna añaden la inmersion durante el gameplay.

    Musica/Sonido: 10
    -La musica del juego cumple su funcion, tal vez no sea la mejor de un juego de metroid pero sin duda alguna te mete en el juego, escuchar esa musica en donde te hace sentir tension sin mencionar que durante la batalla de jefes la musica te hace sentir adrenalina, el sonido esta bien hecho, los disparos suenan bien, el rebote de la morphball contra el piso tambien suena, en general muy buen sonido.

    Graficos y FPS: 10
    Los graficos estan perfectos sin mencionar que la switch tiene ciertas limitaciones pero lograron mantener el juego a 60 fps lo cual hace que el juego se sienta mucho mas fluido.

    Conclusion:
    Metroid Dread es una obra maestra, Nintendo y MercurySteam hicieron magia con este juego, es un clasico moderno, un videojuego que se siente fiel a la formula de los videojuegos clasicos de Metroid adaptado a una formula de los juegos modernos, sin duda este juego se hablara por mucho tiempo y es un must have si tienes una Nintendo Switch, lo lograron, hiceron un juego digno de la franquicia de Metroid y una epica conclusion a la historia de Samus con los Metroids.    … Expand

    I started out with fusion when i was young and metroid dread is a phenomenal title in the metroid series. my only gripes being the load times between areas and that the ost was a bit lacking however it was fun to play and handling samus was not a big chore and felt as smooth as peeling a banana. most of the bosses and fights were really decent including the final boss fight.     It’s such a good game! I have been waiting for a long while for this game as most of us have. The story is great the gameplay is great! The control has been majorly improved. This was one of the coolest ways to end the story arc!

    To that minority of haters sorry you don’t know how to play a game and are so irrational, because you don’t know how to enjoy a game.

    Played over 20hrs and I can say it was one of the best experiences I had. Been waiting for a proper continuation to Fusion and we got it. If you want to play the best of Super and Fusion this is the game for you can't recommend it enough!

    Let me preface by saying that I am a new Metroid fan, having never played a game before in the series. I had to create an account to post this review, that should say a lot about how much I love this game, barely 3 days after launch. This game is SOOOO GOOD and such a joy to play! Samus's movement is really smooth and fluid, the platforming feels really good, and over the course of the game, the various power-ups you receive make it even more of a joy to traverse the environments.

    The enemies start off pretty weak but as you explore newer areas in planet ZDR, you start encountering tougher ones, some that can even take out an entire energy bar. But the combat options are very good, the melee counter in particular is excellent and even absurdly powerful at times. The bosses are pretty tough, but fair, and you feel satisfied after beating them.

    As for the EMMI zones and the EMMIs themselves, I really love this mechanic, makes the game live up to its name "Dread", the fear you experience while evading capture from these enemies is really fun to experience. The EMMIs progressively get tougher, but like the bosses, it feels super satisfying to beat them. I have only reached mid-game and the difficulty has gradually ramped up.

    Performance of the game is pretty much near perfect, except for some of the elevator and train sections where the framerate takes a hit, but that's nothing to lose sleep over. The combat and platforming are pretty smooth and look really good in near constant 60 fps.

    Honestly, my only complaints are the boss themes seem slightly generic, not too unique, and that you can't remap the controls in-game (although you do get used to it after a while). Even then, I rate this 10/10 and an absolute must have, even if you have never played a Metroid game before. I've read a lot about how the duration is pretty low, and while I'm someone who prefers longer duration games (cost is a big deal for me, so I prefer a good price-playtime ratio), in this case I do not regret spending $60 on this game, purely because every moment playing it feels so amazing and enjoyable.    … Expand

    Once you get past all the dying and getting lost you’ll start to realise how damn good this game is. Once it really gets rolling it’s impossible to put down. Feels like the biggest, most ambitious Metroidvania yet; exactly what you’d hoped and then some. Awesome visuals and soundscape, fluid movement and brilliantly paced. GOTY contender.

    La duración es la que tiene que tener. Todo bien en ese aspecto.

    Si me pongo super gilipollito diría que me gustarían todavía más cinemáticas (que el juego ya tiene), y todavía más desarrollo de la historia. Sé que esto es más característico de la saga Prime, pero me da igual.

    En fin es una excelente forma de iniciarte con Metroid. Hay una intro, te ponen al día.

    After nearly 2 decades since the last new entry in the 2D Metroid, Mercury Steam have done the seemingly impossible. They surpassed Super Metroid.
    Metroid Dread is the new Standard not only for the Metroid series but all of Metroidvania going forward.All we now can hope is that Metroid Dread sells well enough for Nintendo to Greenlight the next Metroid.

La dificultad es buena, quisas para los mas veteranos satisfactoria, pero no se desanimen, para los nuevos jugadores, de verdad es un juego de 10, gráficamente es bueno y si te gusta el estilo del juego vas alucinar. This is one of the few games that I am at a loss for words you really just need to play it. One thing to be aware of if you play in handheld a lot or are a Switch lite owner is that Dread is a veryEasy 10/10, this is undoubtedly the best Metroid game, Mercury Steam has outdone themselves, the fluid movement, the amazing atmosphere, fantastic story and somehow making a permadeath fun. This is one of the few games that I am at a loss for words you really just need to play it. One thing to be aware of if you play in handheld a lot or are a Switch lite owner is that Dread is a very resource-intensive game a launch date switch only lasts 1.5-2 hours on a full charge, not a deal-breaker just something to be aware of.… Expand

    No se que decir realmente, dejando de lado el fanatismo realmente metroid dread ha sido con diferencia el mejor metroid de su clase, el gameplay es entretenido, los controles son fluidos y responsivos, la latencia de fps es constante la mayor parte del tiempo, visualmente es increible y demuestra el gran potencial que tiene mercurysteam para hacer un metroid a toda regla. Por otra parte elNo se que decir realmente, dejando de lado el fanatismo realmente metroid dread ha sido con diferencia el mejor metroid de su clase, el gameplay es entretenido, los controles son fluidos y responsivos, la latencia de fps es constante la mayor parte del tiempo, visualmente es increible y demuestra el gran potencial que tiene mercurysteam para hacer un metroid a toda regla. Por otra parte el juego al igual que muchos del genero search action (metroidvanias) no es tan intuitivo a la hora de progresar con la historia y muchas veces uno puede perderse en el enorme mapa pero no por eso significa que sea un mal juego al contrario es un juego que vale la pena intentar.

    tengo 10 horas jugadas y he sacado el 100% de objetos, por mi parte recomiendo este juego siempre y cuando estén dispuestos a seguir adelante con la historia    … Expand

    Metroid Dread is the best game I played in 2021. Control are great, albeit a bit clunky at first but you'll used to it. The story is acceptable, while the music is atmospheric. Gameplay is where this game shine—I can imagine myself revisiting this game from time to time. Buy Metroid Dread! Don't sleep on this one!

    Metroid Dread is without a doubt the best Metroid ever, surpassing even Super Metroid. It's a game that can bring old and new players together. It has an excellent setting, fair difficulty, great gameplay and exceptional outcome. Impeccable game in everything it proposes!

    My favourite Metroids gameplay-wise were Super and Samus Returns, while my 2nd favourite atmosphere-wise was Fusion. Dread has the exploration of Super, the atmosphere of Fusion, and the boss fight quality of Samus Returns - all tuned up to 11 with the nice addition of the EMMIs. It's tied with Super as my favourite Metroid and tell if it'll dethrone Super. Super has the better soundtrackMy favourite Metroids gameplay-wise were Super and Samus Returns, while my 2nd favourite atmosphere-wise was Fusion. Dread has the exploration of Super, the atmosphere of Fusion, and the boss fight quality of Samus Returns - all tuned up to 11 with the nice addition of the EMMIs. It's tied with Super as my favourite Metroid and tell if it'll dethrone Super. Super has the better soundtrack though but Dread's is quite good. Like a mix of Fusion and Prime but a bit less boppy in favour of more tone variety. The wait was so worth it and I'm looking forward to Metroid 6 hopefully in the next few years instead of decade like this time!… Expand

    Acabei Metroid Dread agora, recomendo muito quem puder pegar o jogo, é maravilhoso
    Não achei tão difícil quanto as reviews indicavam que seria, mas acho que quem não é acostumado a jogar jogos do estilo pode ter bastante dificuldade. A jogabilidade é fluida, cada parte te desafia a aprender melhor como usar todas as habilidades da Samus para superar os    Spoiler Free, podem ler sem medo.
    Acabei Metroid Dread agora, recomendo muito quem puder pegar o jogo, é maravilhoso
    Não achei tão difícil quanto as reviews indicavam que seria, mas acho que quem não é acostumado a jogar jogos do estilo pode ter bastante dificuldade. A jogabilidade é fluida, cada parte te desafia a aprender melhor como usar todas as habilidades da Samus para superar os desafios, a história não é pesada de ler, as cinemáticas e os gráficos são muito legais... E ainda, mais pro final do jogo, tem uma referência a cultura pop que eu amei, e acho que a maioria dos nerds de plantão também irão amar.

    Un excelente juegazo con referencias sublimes un guion escrito de 10 que catapulta todo lo vivido en las entregas anteriores a lo máximo escenarios hermosamente diseñados.

The map is very large and interconnected, and there are tons of secret items to seek out. This game is incredibly difficult, however the difficulty is very fair. There is no punishment for death aside from respawning from a checkpoint and the game frequently reminds you that every attack is avoidable, so at worst, defeating a boss will take a lot of patience while you learn their move sets.

    Dread is also atmospherically great. The background artwork is probably the strongest feature in this regard. You can tell a lot of work was put into making the backgrounds tell their own stories while being visually striking. The music is mostly ambient and so does a lot to enhance the atmosphere of this game, however I would like to have heard some more iconic bangers like the series is known for.

    Finally, the writing and story sequences are amongst the best Metroid has ever seen. If you're a series fan, this is an absolute hands down must play for the lore. Additionally, this is arguably the best depiction of Samus as a character (leagues better than some Other entries).

    It's metroid! It's a 2d metroid game. The game has came a long way since fusion. I have been enjoying my play through thoroughly and have no issues with the e.m.m.i they are great additions to the series. You have to have a gameplan you have to be cautious. I love that. People complain all the time about stuff like this. If you want to play metroid and you want a challenge here you are.

    Metroid dread is hands down my favorite Metroid game. Anyone you hear complaining about the difficulty obviously haven't played any of the great modern 2d platforms. Hollowknight and the ori games are equally hard if not more so at times. This is a refreshing take on the franchise that started the metroidvania. Hats off to Mercury Steam and Nintendo

    La incorporaciòn mas importante son los EMMI, robots que merodean lugares especificos del juego y de los cuales inicialmente tendràs que arrancar, si estos te logran pillar, tendrás que encontrar el timing justo para paralizarlos unos segundos o sino moriràs instantaneamente.
    Respecto a la Historia, se revelan imporantes cosas sobre los Chozo y se vislumbra un gran futuro respecto a la saga bajo estos puntos, otro tema importante esque hay bastantes referencias a Fusion.
    Un juego que debes tener si o si si eres fan de los Metroidvania, desafiante y rejugable, una masterclass de como se debe hacer un video juego hoy en día y no como otros de la competencia que se dedican a realizar ''review bombing'' y popularizar juegos tipo películas que no tienen nada de jugabilidad y se burlan del usuario.

A lot of people have complained about the difficulty but honestly the game is built to where the difficulty can be altered by your own pick-ups. My game was extremely difficult as I had skipped a lot of items, the final boss destroyed me multiple times, but it was never impossible. If you don't like very hard games the beginning may kick you down but as you go along make certain to go for as many pick-ups as you possibly can.

    Some general tips:
    The flash shift can't go through enemies but you can jump and use it over them.
    The E.M.M.I will almost always walk onto the last location it heard you. If you use the phantom cloak, be sure to walk into an alcove close by after activating it to make sure it doesn't bump into you.
    You have access to your entire arsenal after a counter.
    Running away from an E.M.M.I is always a viable strategy. If you get too stressed, pause the game and scan the map screen for a way out.
    The game tends to funnel you into the intended sequence of events, for your first playthrough its easiest to take the path of least resistance.
    The game is replayable. Find a cool movement tech at the end of the game? Start a new file later! Who knows you might use it to get something early.

    This game deserves immense praise, sales numbers that blow Nintendo away and a lasting legacy. A 10/10 is the only thing I could ever give it.    … Expand

Un diseño de niveles exquisito e inteligente que aproveche el backtracking de una manera excepcional y lo hacen a la perfección ,siendo desafiante pero a la par que divertido ya que cada zona esta muy diferenciada y como todos los Metroid cada zona tiene su ambientación ,fauna ,dificultades...etc Las animaciones son de otro mundo que hace que el juego tenga una jugabilidad endiabladamente agil y suave que ya no solo ningún Metroid 2d ha soñado con rozar si no ningún Metroidvania y eso que estamos viviendo una época de oro actualmente ,hollow knight era para mi el que tenia esa corona en cuanto a la jugabilidad pero Metroid Dread lo ha subido un peldaño ,en cuanto a los gráficos y diseño artistico es sublime ,cuando en un principio parecia algo "gris" nada que ver, tampoco quieuro entrar en spoilers pero es típico de la saga las diferentes zona ,pero la cantidad de efectos y sobretodo como dije animaciones hace que en su conjunto sea mas que positivo tapando algunas texturas mas planas....podría seguir hablando de las maravillas pero estamos de enhorabuena poder continuar 19 años la historia ,ahora solo queda esperar por Prime 4 que seguro no dejara indiferente a nadie ...este juego merece algo de mas nota de la que tiene pero es típico de metacritic ,lo importante es que tenga una buena recepción y no tengamos que esperar tantos años para otra parte...    … Expand

Criticisms are mild: The game contains the "energy part" collectibles from Other M which while this method of gaining health may work in zelda, they feel incredibly out of place in a Metroid game. Speaking of collectibles, this game loves to dangle out of reach collectibles in your face at any opportunity it can, moreso than any other title in the series, which may be to encourage multiple visits to certain areas, but it's still a little jarring. Also without spoiling anything, the game almost feels like it has a case of Spiderman 3 syndrome with its antagonist. But those two criticisms aside, it's a very solid title, the best this series has gotten in over a decade. Definitely worth the price.… Expand

    I think this games deserves a 9/10 but due to review bombing from bad players i gave it a 10.

    Difficulty is just right, games like this shouldn't be easy, a mistake must be fatal to make you feel the game atmosphere and samus weakness at the begining.

    Improvements in añmost every aspect, good story and development, entertaining and feeling like a meteoid game.

Other than Super Metroid on the Switch's emulator, I never got to play any of the platforming classics. Playing Dread, I had an idea of what to expect, and my expectations were high. It just feels so good to move around and shoot things. Everything is fluid and snappy. A pretty impressive statement when you stop to consider that I played the game on joycons. The visuals looked great, though I was lucky enough to play this title on the new OLED Switch. The game almost felt like it was specifically designed for the OLED. When I put the Switch in it's dock, the game looked a little weird on my 4k tv. One last note, I enjoyed the Emmi portion of the game, though challenging it was cool to see something fresh. I could be wrong, but I don't think anything has quite done the same thing in a metrovania. The Emmi portion did give me strong phantom Hourglass vibes.… Expand

I just wish they included the option to lower the sfx and voices in the game to better listen to its soundtrack while playing. MercurySteam has really proven themselves after the great but flawed experiment with Samus Returns and I look forward to whatever they and Nintendo have in store for Metroid 6, hopefully in 3-4 years.    … Expand

    Es un juegazo de 10, estaba tan bien puntuado (ya había llegado a los 9.1 puntos y casualmente ahora esta en 8.6), gente mediocre sin nada que hacer, se hicieron multi-cuentas para puntuarlo con bajo score, es un juegazo y lo recomiendo muchísimo.

The graphics are superb, the gameplay is smooth and the bosses are challenging, what else can you ask for? There are many haters giving it 0 only because it's a very difficult game, but, you need to know the type of game you are going to buy.

En lo jugable este juego es simplemente sublime, samus se controla mejor que nunca, con una agilidad impresionante, el sistema de contrataque es muy bueno es un sistema de riesgo - recompensa que resulta tremendamente satisfactorio. Hay muchos jefes, la mayoría impresionantes, variados y desafiantes como ellos mismo. Los emmis le dan un nuevo giro al juego, con secciones de persecución y sigilo muy bien implementadas, realmente se siente la tensión al enfrentarte a un emmi. Me gusta mucho que el juego no te indica a donde ir, sin embargo, si te da pistas sutiles para que no te pierdas tan fácilmente, además la sensación clásica de exploración esta garantizada. En cuanto a historia, simplemente sensacional, llena de referencias a entregas previas y con final simplemente epico, ya estoy deseando saber como sería una secuela de este y cual sería la trama a explorar. En cuanto a gráficos simplemente soberbio, aminaciones de excelente calidad, cinemáticas de mucha calidad y un estilo artístico y visual precioso. La banda sonora esta compuesta por temas en su mayoría nuevos y muchas piezas ambientales, en general cumple su objetivo sin llegar a ser sobresaliente este apartado. Otro punto a destacar es la elevada dificultad del juego, este juego es un desafío considerable que invita que jueges bien y aprendas todas las mecánicas del juego y las aproveches a tu favor. Por ultimo me gustaría aclarar sobre la duración del juego, en mi primera partida tarde 7 horas en terminarlo con el 40% de objetos, completarlo al 100% me tomo alrededor de 12 horas y ahora estoy en mi segunda partida en modo difícil, el juego tiene varias galerías de arte secretas como incentivo para rejugarlo.     Excellent game, almost perfect in a way. I played with my girlfriend and we were on the edge of our seat the whole time. The graphics are nice and evolve in a very satisfying way. The controls are magical, very satisfying and snappy. The map is sprawling and you have to get back multiple times to discover secrets with your new powerups.     One divisive element are the EMMI chases. At first I was a bit dismayed by them, but they get more and more interesting/challenging and offer a nice change of pace. They ended up being one of my favourite things in the game because it forces you to delve in these areas where you are no longer in control.

    One thing I didn't like as much are the cut scenes. At least some of them. Some of them felt very slow for some reason, but I must say that the boss cutscenes were all excellent. So its a mixed bag, but overall nothing too displeasing.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is a damn near perfect metroidvania. Great graphics, smooth controls, a dynamic world, and great gameplay. The soundtrack is not super memorable, but it suits the gameplay and world perfectly. The EMMI encounters are amazing and some of the most intense moments I've had in any game in recent memory. It's the SAX on steroids. The AI and pathfinding is really impressive, and the EMMI animations are really cool. If I have one problem with the game, its that I wish there were more EMMI encounters. Of the seven EMMI in the game, the first is a tutorial, and the last is basically just a cutscene. I wish the last one could have had more of a chase sequence. However, this is a minor issue, and a small problem in a game with almost no major issues.… Expand

The combat is fast and fun, the bosses are a blast, and the exploration is top-notch. The game may seem linear on a first playthrough, but there are lots of secrets to uncover with a number of sequence-breaking options being discovered almost daily so far. If you care about Metroid lore at all, you are in for a TREAT. Overall, I absolutely loved this game. I'm replaying it right now, and it's just as engaging as the first time through. Se siente genial volver a tener esos niveles 2D luego de la trilogia Prime. Mejora muchos aspectos de los juegos clásicos.Un juego espectacular. And what most impressed me is the game feel and kinestetics. It is undoubtedly the most fluid and platforming 2d Metroid ever made. Every movement is cancelable and feels like butter,. It justifies the fact that the boss battles are so challenguing and difficult, because of the variety of movement options, This difficulty in the boss battles would have been unfair in other Metroids due the movement limitations, so it is really fair to me ( I heard a lot of babies crying about it, GIT GUD).

    "Cons":
    - Music is not the most epic in a metroid game but it still really atmospheric and well placed
    - E.M.M.I battles could have been better, but still are really dramatic, and finding the proper place to shot them is really satisfying    … Expand

    I’ve been playing Metroid since SNES and I’ve always wanted another Metroid game that could give me the same satisfaction or more even than Super Metroid. I expected Metroid Dread to be good but never did I imagine it could surpass Super Metroid. I love it and I’m addicted, excellent job devs.

    After almost 20 years we finally have a sequel to the 2D series of Metroid games! Considering that, Dread does a great job of combining the new modern combat with the old elements of research and advancement, and it doesn't hurt that we have some of the best boss fights in the series. A true gem and a must have for all Switch gamers.

    Taking up the torch of a series interrupted nineteen years ago is never an easy task, but the MercurySteam studio is doing it with honors! The developers have chosen the path of security while perfectly respecting the spirit of the previous episodes, to the detriment of true modernity.
