    De maneira geral, Samus Returns tornou toda a experiência de Metroid mais ágil e a própria Mercury Steam repete a dose com mais intensidade em Dread. A nova aventura de Samus Aran é um título que honra o próprio legado, mas em alta velocidade – e com muita tensão.

    A phenomenal game. I am no where near a hardcore gamer and honestly wouldn't have seen myself playing this game let alone this genre. But I couldn't put it down, especially when I kept dieing from the tough boss fights. The longer I kept trying, I would get closer to beating the fight and that made me try that much harder to do so. The final boss fight took a day just to complete and I wasA phenomenal game. I am no where near a hardcore gamer and honestly wouldn't have seen myself playing this game let alone this genre. The graphics and animation looked amazing. And I loved the story too. When I should it to family they were surprised by the quality of the game, specially when the camera would zoom in for the cut scenes so seamlessly. If I were to take anything away from this game it is the satisfaction of complete a project and learning from the experience.… Expand

    If Super Metroid was made in 2021, it would look and feel like this game. Samus is a joy to play as and her fast controls make traversal a breeze, turning the EMMI bits into intense, high-stakes parkour challenges that are ultimately fun. Shinesparking never felt this good, and space jumping never felt this good. Metroid is famous for its deliberate, almost teasing way of conveying information to you via level design, and this intimate understanding of player psyche is present in Dread as well.     A worthy ending for the Metroid Arc! Nearly perfect Balance between oldschool Metroid and New mechanics like the melee counter. Visuals are very good and stick together with the atmosphere. EMMI encounter are the only thing in this game what could **** people up but for me it's fun. Trial & Error is not automatically bad and for All crying people out there here my advice: git gud

    This game was amazing!!! Starting hard mode now! Another quality first party game by Nintendo, kudos to Mercury Steam for an awesome deliver on one of my all time favorite franchise. The E.M.M.I were good, but the highlight are the bosses and the amazing map size, the control was smooth and accurate.     A truly special experience for any new, or long time Metroid fan. Even if this game sucked, I’d still give it a 10/10, but no. It earned this score. This stuff is like crack cocaine for Sci-Fi fans. It’s intense, fun, immersive, and just plain cool. A true Game Of The Year contender.

    Amazing game with great graphics, cool combat system, very interesting bosses. The game is hard but not frustrating hard and you always feel so good after beating a boss. I would recommend playing it with a tutorial / guide because it can be very confusing and time consuming to figure out where to go next.

    Absolutely loved this game. The gameplay is nice and smooth and the game offers a good challenge for new players. The abilities you gain are awesome and the areas are really well detailed and very nice to just generally see. The Emii are a great enemies tho it is kinda scary at times lol. Overall the game is a 10 for me I had alot of fun.

    Fantastic return of Samus with some fresh wind, one of my best Nintendo Switch games, and in last patch they added a "Rookie Mode" for new Players :) let's just have a hope that Nintendo works hard on Metroid Prime 4 :)

The hype was real for Dread and it delivered so beautifully. You can find every aspect you need to make an excellent Metroidvania, but the way Samus moves makes this game be on a different level. It is by far the most lore filled game but it feels that neither mercury steam or Sakamoto really knew hoy to finish. The difficulty I believe is ideal for a mature take on Metroid. At the end is trill is a game worthy of having the Metroid name in it. Please, please, please give this game a shot, help the franchise grow to tell nintendo we want more.… Expand

    Before going into my review, I will quickly explain the 10/10 score I'm giving the game. To be completely transparent, this is a biased rating from a long-time Metroid fan, but it serves the purpose of countering the many below-five-out-of-ten reviews I read before witing my own, as most of them border on what I think is cognitive dissonance and contradictions. My objective score would beBefore going into my review, I will quickly explain the 10/10 score I'm giving the game. To be completely transparent, this is a biased rating from a long-time Metroid fan, but it serves the purpose of countering the many below-five-out-of-ten reviews I read before witing my own, as most of them border on what I think is cognitive dissonance and contradictions. My objective score would be a 9/10, the point being that this game is in no way a 2/ or 3/10.

    First of all, I'm not a graphics-obsessed player, so, to me, this game looks better than decent and at times even beautiful. The consensus I've seen so far is that it is good-looking, at least for a Switch game. I have no idea why some people (granted, a small minority) are bashing the way this game looks. I would assume they are expert programmers or something like that.

    Secondly, there's the gameplay and the game's difficulty. This is such a strange topic because I read low scores complaining that it's too hard, with some mechanics like the EMMI chases being very annoying; and others complaining that there's a lot of handholding. So, which is it? After my Normal mode playthrough [11 hours, 100% items], which was fairly challenging on its own, I went directly into Hard mode and just finished it in half the time [5 hrs, ~30% Items], but I rescinded on collecting most of the items. Hard mode is very challenging, but not impossible, less even so if you went through Normal first. This is coming from someone that struggles so much with Dark Souls, that I've never completed that game. I read too many reviews complaining about this game's difficulty, and I comically wonder how many of those people make fun about game journalists' skills (or lack there-of). Or maybe they A-smashed their way past the tutorials/tips that tell you how to deal with enemies because they hate "hand-holding".

    I enjoyed every fight, especially the last one, where I got my butt handed to me many times. When I finally won, I did get that feeling of accomplishment EA raves so much about. And all throughout the game I got pretty much the same feelings I experienced before while playing past Metroid titles.

    To conclude, if you are well-versed in Metroidvanias and have played a vast catalogue of them, I won't judge you if this seemed average at best to your veteran taste and want to give it a 5/10. I would also agree this should be around the $30 mark, $40 at most. But like I said at the beginning, this isn't a 2 or a 3. I encourage everyone to play it, even if you don't buy it but just borrow it from a friend.    … Expand

    In my Opinion just a Wonderful game. Samus Controls so Wonderful und Feels Incredibly Agile, and the Environments Look Stunning. The only thing that I don't like are some of the Speed-Booster Hidden Items. But because those are Optional, I can live with it.

    There are very few cases where I leave a game feeling like it was perfect. Probably TLOU1, TLOU2, SMW, Astro Bot, and now Metroid Dread. Even Super Metroid I felt wasn’t completely perfect which is fine considering it was revolutionary. Metroid Dread is seriously the peak of what a 2D Metroid can be in every sense.

    The Metroid series officially, and finally, advances forward with a new main entry that builds on its entire history and then some! The story is subtle but tastefully visualized, the controls are extremely smooth, the visual design is a dream, and the bosses, while not letting up on the challenge, are so satisfying to finish.

    Game is a masterpiece in the metroidvania genre. Absolutely perfect! Great combat, fun puzzles, difficult bosses and Samus feels the most fluid she’s ever felt. Just an amazing game through and through.

    It's a pretty hard game, but if your able to get past that it's an amazing game. my only complaint is that the Emmis got a little over played. But all in all that's a sacrifice I'm willing to take to get another great Metroid game, especially one that's not another other M

    As I waited nearly 20 years for this I was not disappointed!

    DREAD is amazing and worth the wait.
    Difficult, puzzling, action packed and everything works great!

    The people who say it's crap have never played Metroid before or they are just crap gamers.

    It is appreciated how mercurysteam managed to bring this generation to this metroid, using everything learned from the metroid II samus return and improving it in all aspects, just maybe the soundtrack could be better but it smells like a competition to goty 2021

    This game satisfied me completely, I bought in on release and have been playing only one or two hours a day because I didn't want it to end. having a Metroid game on a console makes Metroid 10 times better already as you feel like you can properly control Samus now. i think everything in this game is perfect, however, it was slightly frustrating to get the last 5 or so collectibles.

    Excellent game, had high expectations and it turned out even better than I expected. Mercury Steam already showed how much they respect and love this saga with Samus Returns, but this time really outdid themselves.

    Game run smooth and playing cool as hell. This is like my memories about old-schoool metroids at ENS and SNES. Map is very handy, some enemies triky but at my current ingame position nothing impossible. EMMI not so hard as i think at start (at least at my position) but it's ok for me. I dont like this type of enemies. But! Ability to kill these folks is amazing!

    This was my first full experience with a Metroid game, and I loved every second of it. It can be though sometimes, but it was worth the many tries I had to do on each boss. Great exploration, the map is brilliant, all the areas are amazing and worth exploring. It's a must play for me, and so far favorite game this year.

    Hacía años que no me enganchaba tanto un juego. Angustia cada vez que entras en una sala EMMI, variedad de biomas, jefes que exigen cierta habilidad y muchísima diversión.
    Espero que no abandonen la saga y continúen sacando juegazos como este en 2D.

    No, no hace falta que todo lo nuevo que salga sean fps o battle royale.

    Impresionante.

    I couldn't be happier with this game. It's the 2D Metroid formula modernized to perfection. Controlling Samus is challenging but so rewarding and the boss fights are based on skill as opposed to (only) spamming missiles. Not an easy game but that's part of the fun. Will be playing for years to come.

    Amazing game, difficult, but just difficult enough IMO. Has made me go and buy metroid samus returns for the 3ds and I am playing through that now as well. If you like Dread, go buy samus returns for the 3ds, it was made by the same developers and is very similar!

    Simply the best classic Metroid made. If you're a fan of the saga you're in for a treat. Game mechanics are smooth. Controls are fast and responsive. The graphics are excellent for a switch title. And more than anything, the game is absolutely fun.

    God DAMN is this game good! Everything you'd want from a modern day Metroid - stellar graphics and gameplay, super tight controls, bad ass move set and bosses, tense action and great puzzles. Fun story. This game has it all!

    Uno de los controles en un juego de acción mejor diseñados de la historia!! Mover a Samus en todo momento es una increible experiencia. La dificultad esta perfectamente calibrada. Puedes morir muchas veces en el juego pero siempre te hace sentir que puedes mejorar tu habilidad con Samus para derrotar a los enemigos. Uno de los mejores juegos del año!!

    The gameplay of this new Metroid 2D is the most beautiful I have been able to experience, it is like playing Samus Return influenced by Metroid Zero mission and Fusion but with all the well polished mechanics and on top of the new skills that you acquire which adds to your experience better.     WOW, just WOW, Metroid Dread takes the same ol' formula and revamps it and give some good twists and works so good. I can't imagine how Samus's story is gonna continue from that ending. I hope it sells well so we can get Metroid 6 before 19 years pass again lol

    No soy fan de la saga metroid (de echo solo jugué uno y no recuerdo cual ) pero dios..... Que JUEGAZO que es Metroid Dread, y la verdad es que por las reseñas de la gente lo critican por los gráficos, pero a mi criterio no los veo para nada mal, tiene muchisimas animaciones que estan bien hechas se ve Que realmente le pusieron cariño al juego.
    Respecto a los bajones de FPS solo se notan    No soy fan de la saga metroid (de echo solo jugué uno y no recuerdo cual ) pero dios..... Que JUEGAZO que es Metroid Dread, y la verdad es que por las reseñas de la gente lo critican por los gráficos, pero a mi criterio no los veo para nada mal, tiene muchisimas animaciones que estan bien hechas se ve Que realmente le pusieron cariño al juego.

    I wholeheartedly love this game. I played Metroid Fusion a ton as a kid, and Dread as its sequel is absolutely amazing. It brings the element of fear I felt in Fusion to a whole different level. I cannot stress enough how excellent this game is. I encourage anyone, even if they are new to the 2-D Metroid games, to give this game a shot. It’s not just horror- it essentially takes the gameplay loop of a Metroidvania, and accelerates it to breakneck speeds. The intensity is palpable when the EMMIs detect you, and they made for some of the most memorable moments in the game. My one complaint with them is that the mapMetroid dread’s primary new idea- the EMMIs, have to be one of the most unique gaming experiences you’ll have. It’s not just horror- it essentially takes the gameplay loop of a Metroidvania, and accelerates it to breakneck speeds. The intensity is palpable when the EMMIs detect you, and they made for some of the most memorable moments in the game. My one complaint with them is that the map becomes a little too powerful in these sections. It pauses all the gameplay and allows you to plan out your next couple steps. I think the EMMIs were a little more fun before I realized that.

    The combat is great, and most upgrades were useful in both combat and exploration. One particular upgrade was so powerful in combat that once I had it, I felt like I couldn’t go back. But it wasn’t overpowered, just strong. The boss fights acted as great checks for my combat skills, though some certain bosses were repeated a few more times than needed.

    The exploration was also very enjoyable. That’s to be expected out of a metroidvania, but the secrets in this one were particularly good, sometimes being hidden behind optional puzzles, which are much more enjoyable than you’d expect from a game where there are no required puzzles.

    All in all, there isn’t really much to dislike about Metroid dread, and any complaints were minor in comparison to the soaring heights of the rest of the game.    … Expand

    This was the first metroid game I've ever played and wow! It was an action packed side scrolling intense thrill ride that forces the player to learn the mechanics and use samus' abilities to find a way off planet ZDR. I'd reccomend it to anyone who owns a nintendo switch! Metroid Dread is my personal 2021 game of the year!

The gameplay is buttery smooth, it runs at 60 FPS, it’s one of the most visually impressive games on the switch and it manages to achieve what it sets out to do. You do feel constant Dread while in the Emmy zones. The game is difficult and I can see casual gamers or newcomers to the Metroid franchise to beAfter 19 long years Samus is back and it’s an absolutely beautiful comeback.     After playing Metroid Prime Remastered, I bought this game Metroid Dread to try, oh gosh, such this is such a a great game. Certainly this is a perfect metroidvania game to me, it's fun to lost in map and sloely power up Samus by defeating enemies. The part to encounter with EMMI is definitely something new to me.     Definitivamente es lo que debían haber hecho hace mucho tiempo, los fans de Metroid estaban esperando por una continuación de la saga y que mejor que sea un juegazo como lo es Dread :D.
    El apartado grafico esta bien para lo que es un juego tipo Metroidvania, la música es hermosa y la jugabilidad es como volver a jugar ese Metroid Fusion de GBA, un juego estupendo de principio a fin y punto.

Super metroid is often seen as the best metroid game, and its sequel fusion added more story, but less exploration. Overall, it seems dread has done a zero mission, where it takes the best ideas from super, fusion and samus returns and compiles them into the ultimate package. It has the exploration of super, the storytelling of fusion and the improved combat action mechanics of samus returns. It then goes even further, choosing to spice exploration up with emmi sections that create super buttclenching encounters, improve story telling by using less dialogue and more facial expressions from samus (which definitely worked out better than something like other m), and the new combat speed and moves like the slide and flash shift make dread a fast paced thrill ride. This is amazing as the fast paced combat never interferes with the slow paced exploration. This beautiful combination makes dread stand high next to its predecessors, and even higher on the switches library, making it my favourite metroid game and one of the best switch games, right up with botw and Mario odyssey.
    Notice i am writing this review a while after the games release, as to get a proper opinion of it (many negative reviews were written 1-2 days after, which is just a bad joke) .
    The difficulty of dread has been a point of contention for many, but i never saw it as a problem once. The game is inherently skill based, and steadily teaches the player its combat mechanics. Aswell as this, respawning after a boss puts you at the boss door to avoid breaking the games pacing, and if you are entirely stuck, as a metroidvania dread allows the player to slow down, backtrack, explore and find more powerups to help them in battle. If you are stuck or having a hard time in dread, it is simply t the player who is at fault, as dread gives the player every opportunity to succeed. I can see why others may have an issue with learning boss counter timings, however this is a live and learn experience, dying in dread is like I said, not the end of the world.
    In general, dread has to be the best game of 2021, with huge story moments, intense and heart pumping boss fights, and tranquil moments of exploration, with soothing ambient music tracks to enable your explorative mind. The games great, and I cant fault it, buy it.    … Expand

    Lovely game, I was a little disappointed at the very beginning because of the emmi chasing me around gets old really fast. However, the game just went up high. All the Samus abilities, enviroment, enemies, background music mix up together in a great game overall. Very enjoyable. Awesome game.

    I could go on about the incredible movement, combat and environmental puzzles, I could even go on about the fantastic, minimalist story that does amazing things for both Samus and the Metroid Universe as a whole but all I'm going to say is that it's the best thing I've played all year and maybe even for a few years now.

The stage is beautiful, the setting is very good, the animations and designs are very good and a great advance from the Mercury Steam studio afterOne of the best Metroid games and not just Metroid that I have ever played.     As a metroid fan, this is all i could ever ask for, the movement and combat are pretty much perfect, the exposition doesn't get annoying, the bosses are stellar, the story specially in the ending sequence was really of my liking, and that ending sequence is just fantastic, very glad Nintendo didn't let down and i'm curious to know how this beauty of a franchise will live on. This game got me to go back and play all the other Metroids, and this led to meThis game made me a Metroid fan. After wanting so badly to get into this series for years, Dread has finally made me a superfan. Excellent controls, blissfully fluid and satisfying movement, challenging but fair combat, fun puzzle mechanics, wonderfully satisfying upgrades and devilishly clever level design. This game got me to go back and play all the other Metroids, and this led to me finally playing what is now one of my favorites of all time, Metroid Prime 1. My two cents on the difficulty: It is unbelievably refreshing to have a challenging, first-party Nintendo game and I don’t think the game would work the same without its level of challenge. I mean, the game is called “Dread”; you’re supposed to feel powerless. But having said that, you aren’t *actually* powerless. All boss attacks have clear tells and it feels so good to learn the patterns and mop the floor with them after learning. Checkpoints for bosses and enemy encounters are extremely generous, so it just feels like each death is another learning experience, and it feels SO incredibly rewarding to progress through this game as a result of the challenge. I think the difficulty level is perfect, and that’s coming from someone who’s never played more than an hour of a Metroid game before, and doesn’t have the design language or mechanical staples in their head. I really hope some of the game journalist reviews calling the game too hard don’t sway Nintendo for the next one. The fans love it!… Expand

    This is literally the best Metroid I've played. It doesn't hold your hand. It makes you wonder consistently, "Hey maybe I need to shoot everything in this room" and rewards you for it. The visual elements and ques help you progress gameplay forward. Using Samus's abilities make movement really snappy and fun to use.     Fighting bosses can be TOUGH but with enough determination you can learn their attacks and kick some butt. EMMI encounters make you feel the 'dread'. Running away from them is scary and when you finally hide from one, the few moments as the EMMI seeks you out are truly heart-pounding. That feeling of suspense makes those enemies truly terrifying.

    This game gives you rewards for the risk that you put into it, gameplay-wise. It lets you know you can move in it's linear path but let's you explore in between set pieces to find out each map's secrets.

    It's the best Metroid-like game out there. Thank goodness it's actually Metroid.

    *I recommend playing this game with a good sound system at home or with headphones. This game's atmosphere is heightened by the SFX and music. Gameplay also benefits from sound as well since environments and enemies give queues through SFX as well.*    … Expand

    This is my first Metroid game to play, and I'm getting so excited in every level and that reward system is just the best.. hard enemies and easy to master control of Samus.     After almost 20 years we finally have a sequel to the 2D series of Metroid games! Considering that, Dread does a great job of combining the new modern combat with the old elements of research and advancement, and it doesn't hurt that we have some of the best boss fights in the series. A true gem and a must have for all Switch gamers.
