    C’est le moment de donner mon avis sur Stray, jeu que j’attend depuis des mois et des mois. Et c’est une pure claque ! Un petit chef d’œuvre qui aura su me tenir du début à la fin de cette aventure.
    L’histoire ? On prend le contrôle d’un petit chat (pas de nom, juste le chat dans le jeu) qui, suite à un accident, se retrouve séparé de sa famille et tombe dans une cité délabrée et    C’est le moment de donner mon avis sur Stray, jeu que j’attend depuis des mois et des mois. Et c’est une pure claque ! Un petit chef d’œuvre qui aura su me tenir du début à la fin de cette aventure.
    L’histoire ? On prend le contrôle d’un petit chat (pas de nom, juste le chat dans le jeu) qui, suite à un accident, se retrouve séparé de sa famille et tombe dans une cité délabrée et inconnue. Mais on se retrouve bien vite confronté à nos premiers problèmes : Les Zurks, des **** parasites dont on apprendra l’origine par la suite, qui prennent en chasse notre adorable héros. On fait par la suite connaissance de B-12, un petit drone ayant perdu la mémoire qui sera notre compagnon de jeu mais surtout un allié précieux pour comprendre et communiquer avec le monde qui nous entoure car, ne l’oublions pas, nous sommes un chat ! Par conséquent, chaque interaction se fera par le biais de ce petit robot avec lequel nous allons collaborer pour atteindre l’extérieur et retrouver notre famille. Et en parlant de robot, nous croisons bien vite la route des habitants de cette ville, des robots, ayant un comportement assez proche des humains, qui pour beaucoup rêvent également de l’extérieur, mais vivent aussi dans la peur constante des Zurks, qui se mettent à tout dévorer sur leur passage. Le décor de cette aventure est posé.
    Déjà graphiquement parlant, ben quelle surprise ! Le jeu est juste beau, les effets de lumière sont somptueux et les animations des personnages sont excellentes. Et que dire de l’animation de notre petit chat qui reproduit à la perfection les mouvements de nos amis félins (et j’ai cru comprendre que ça a été une grosse galère à faire). Je n’attendais rien de la partie graphique, et je ne suis clairement pas déçu. Côté sonore, l’OST est juste somptueuse et appelle à l’exploration constante mais sait aussi rendre les passages touchants quand il le faut.
    Idem côté gameplay. Certains pourraient reprocher l’aspect très dirigiste des mouvements de notre chat : On regarde une zone où grimper, la touche X s’affiche si on peut le faire, on appuie et le chat saute à l’endroit prévu. Alors j’ai bien cru comprendre que certains s’attendaient à de la plateforme pure et dure, mais, clairement vu l’architecture du monde qui s’offre à nous et certains sauts millimétrés qu’un gameplay plateforme aurait nécessité, je pense que ce choix est clairement le plus judicieux pour éviter la frustration. Sinon, on retrouve ici et là des endroits où nous pouvons « faire le chat », à savoir, se faire les griffes, boire, se frotter contre les jambes des robots, dormir et j’en passe. Des petites actions pas très utiles certes, mais qui contribuent à renforcer l’immersion et l’attachement à ce petit personnage.
    Mais que dire du jeu au final ? Et bien l’histoire se laisse suivre sans déplaisir. Nous nous étonnons à nous attacher à ces habitants, à prendre plaisir à les aider, à les écouter, interagir tout simplement avec eux. Le jeu sait nous toucher, que ce soit par un petit pincement au cœur quand on voit notre protagoniste tomber et être séparé de sa famille, par l’amitié entre lui et B-12 ou avec les robots qui se font toutes sans un mot de la part de notre félin, comme si tout le monde le comprenait naturellement, par son comportement héroïque par moment… Bref, ce jeu a su me toucher et même me faire verser une petite larme au dénouement de son aventure. Après, il est court, 6h pour en voir le bout à la première run, mais en soi, Undertale a plus ou moins la même durée de vie (avec une rejouabilité supérieure j’en conviens) mais est-ce que ça l’a empêché d’être un chef d’œuvre ?
    Certains me diront : « Ouais, mais si le héros était pas un chat ça te toucherait pas. C’est mercantile blablabla ». Ben je répondrais : « Ben oui, évidemment que si le héros n’était pas un chat ça ne me toucherait pas, ou alors pas autant ». Mais, autres exemples : « Est-ce que le destin de Zack nous aurait touché si on ne l’avait pas suivi durant toute l’aventure de Crisis Core ? » Ou « Est-ce que la quête de vengeance de Ellie nous aurait autant impliqué si on avait pas vécu à ses côtés avec Joël ? », « Est-ce que j’aurais autant aimé Sans si il n’avait pas été un squelette quasi omniscient accros aux jeux de mots ? ». La finalité, c’est que si un personnage nous touche, c’est justement parce qu’un choix d’en faire ce qu’il est a été fait, et que les développeurs ont su suffisamment bien l’emmener, le développer, le faire vivre pour réussir à nous impacter. Et c’est ce qu’ils ont parfaitement réussi à faire : Créer un personnage simple, dénué de parole, capable de nous émouvoir.
    Franchement merci BlueTwelve Studio d’avoir créé ce jeu, cette aventure qui rentre instantanément parmi mes jeux préférés.    … Expand

    The game is amazing! I didn't finish it yet but I'm playing the last part.
    I can say for sure that people who made this game are big fans of cat, like me :D Animations, meows and habits are soooo true and it's so cute. I really enjoying playing for red cat. And the story is also exciting, thought it's been said on the beginning where all those small creepy monsters come from, but anyway    The game is amazing! I didn't finish it yet but I'm playing the last part.

В Stray есть то,чего так сильно не хватает подавляющему большинству современных игр: она сделана с душой, и это чувствуется в каждом моменте, каждой мелодии, каждом звуке. И это безумно приятно!Игра оставила самые положительные эмоции и наиприятнейшие впечатления. Именно такими и должны быть игры: простыми,расслабляющими и интересными,но при этом способными доставить массу удовольствия.     Loco el juego es buenísimo para lo simple de sus mecánicas e interacciones con el medio, es inmersivo e interesante lo que plantea al ponerte en la piel de un animal domestico (aunque no es primera vez que se realiza algo de este estilo). Si bien el juego es corto; resulta ser conciso con lo que quiere transmitir, además de dejar un final abierto muy bueno, real que casi lloro en una deLoco el juego es buenísimo para lo simple de sus mecánicas e interacciones con el medio, es inmersivo e interesante lo que plantea al ponerte en la piel de un animal domestico (aunque no es primera vez que se realiza algo de este estilo).     The game is fascinating, there are difficult moments that add interest and complement the gameplay. This is the world that was able to sink into the soul and leave behind positive emotions. And this beautiful view from the control center. I have only 1 minus at launch, and in some places there were friezes during the passage.

Don't expect it to be a serious challenge - it's reasonably easy to beat and a simple concept in terms of mechanics, but the experience and story are a beauty to behold. The only thing letting it down is the length, since the world is so rich and lovingly crafted you just want to explore it and its lore for longer than the reasonably short time that the gameThis game is truly exceptional. Don't expect it to be a serious challenge - it's reasonably easy to beat and a simple concept in terms of mechanics, but the experience and story are a beauty to behold. The only thing letting it down is the length, since the world is so rich and lovingly crafted you just want to explore it and its lore for longer than the reasonably short time that the game offers (and even then, I can't mark it down as the time you to get to spend in the world is so fun & immersive).

    Stray offers a gaming experience that is unique amongst a lot of same-y titles released recently. Rather than focusing on complexity and difficulty, Stray's degree of immersion beats out any title I've played in a very long time. The game is often totally committed to the experience of controlling a cat, except where necessary to progress the story. The mechanics are simple and accessible while still remaining suitably entertaining and puzzling through the inclusion of collectibles obtained with optional side quests. One of the criticisms levelled at Stray has been the simplicity of the jumping mechanics at the core of its gameplay, but for me I believe it to be one of its strongest features. It comes with the added immersion and makes the stunning world not only accessible all kinds of players, but the world building also becomes less restricted. The stray cat makes calculated jumps with a few fun animations added from time to time, prances elegantly along narrow walkways, and slides under low passageways in a manner that feels authentically cat.

    The world the player inhabits in Stray is not unique to this game - it draws plenty of influence from cult classics in all kinds of media and history. However the perspective of the stray cat allows exploration in the cyberpunk landscape that I've personally never seen before. Cities feel very different when you're ~25cm tall, and this brings a whole new novelty to the genre. Otherwise neglected corners, furniture, ledges, rooftops, and buckets come alive in the eyes of a cat and the attention to detail BlueTwelve has dedicated to Walled City 99 is excellent. For this reason, Stray is a short game best spent taking your time. A two/three hour spring through the alleys of the city would not be well spent, in my opinion. Much of my 9.5 hour playthrough was spent scaling buildings without purpose, nuzzling up against & meowing against robots, scratching furniture, or even just napping in one of the many lovingly crafted spots to curl up in. It never gets boring, especially not with the fantastic score playing in the background.

    Above all, Stray's story is its best selling point. Its simple mechanics and immersion aid in the player forming genuine emotional bonds with the characters you encounter. B-12, a robot companion that you meet early in the game and spend the rest of the journey with, is your sole means of communication and interaction with the most human elements of the world. He acts as your communicator, your inventory, your guide, and very quickly, your friend. The limitations of being a cat blend with the assistance of your robot friend to open up the dystopian cyberpunk landscape in new ways. B-12 can hack computers while you jump in boxes to hide from enemies (or, often, just like the look of a box). The Companions, robots who inhabit the city in lieu of humans, interact with you in ways that gives you a warm & fuzzy feeling often without saying any words. Your initial goal (although still ever-present), melts away into a wider quest for freedom that you feel genuinely invested in. The lore is often fleeting with many unanswered questions, but this feels intentional. You aren't supposed to have all the answers, not in a world that may be hundreds of years from the last true human body, a world that is sometimes steeped in a mythology about humans and the world that came before this robotic dystopia. Some of that knowledge is either lost in time or beyond the reach of our tiny cat's abilities. While I was left wanting more answers, it wasn't in a way that was unsatisfying. There's just enough room to come to your own conclusions and theorise for yourself.

    The culmination of the story is bittersweet, beautiful, and deeply emotional. Again, the developers leave us with an ending that leaves enough questions while closing the threads it needed to. Our cat's journey with us is over, but only because they don't need us to guide them any more.    … Expand

    Easily one of the most refreshing and original games that I have played in a long while. The game captures a gorgeous lo-fi cyberpunk aesthetic, the platform-puzzling is fun and the game convinces wholly with its cat mechanics. For a short game, there is a surprisingly engaging and thought provoking story at play. This is a clear 10/10 for me, and I hope we get more of this story.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Simply a lovely, beautiful and heartbreaking game that stole the hearts of many people. The gameplay is fun and inovative. The puzzles, platforming and chapters are all very cool and interesting to play. Soundtrack is superb and very emotional. A story that starts rather shy with 4 cats sleeping together, but that suddenly turns into despair as our orange cat falls into some sort of apocalypse where the story unfolds. Characters are all adorable, and the plot is way deeper than people may think. What happened to humans? Why did they go extinct? Is it possible that there are some humans alive outside that bunker? And the robots, are they humans that uploaded their minds into robot bodies? That's what happened with our pal B12. The game ends with even more unanswered questions... Will the cat find it's friends? What is the screen flickering at the very last scene? Is it B12, who might have merged into the system, giving a sign of life?

    All of these questions open plenty of room for a sequel where we might start with the cat on a mission to rescue their friends, who might have gotten into trouble. Sooner or later, someone will enter the Control Room and will find B12's body. His body could be repaired, and then we can have our friend back from one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the gaming history.

    This game is beautiful, lovely, heartbreaking, yet heartwarming. I really look forward to a sequel.

    What's better than a cat being the main character of the game and being able to save a city and bring life back to everyone. The puzzles and the storyline of the story were very interesting and not boring at all, as in some places you felt like a cat, especially this game. Recommended for all people who love cats.

    As a cat lover this game is a must play! But even if you only got interested in this game because of the cat, you will fall in love with the story.

    The way the developers were able to tell a beautiful story about what makes us human and how the robots carry these traits along with them, is just amazing.

    As well as their downright perfect portray on classism and how society can bring ruin and chaos to our world.

    I loved Stray as much as my cats ignored it. Controlling a cat in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk setting was amazing, but even more amazing was the level of detail, humor, and creativity put into it. The game plays extremely well, you get to help a cat saving the world below, and also himself. Everything about the game exudes cuteness and good taste.

    This is one of those games that I just discovered, and I never thought I would experience a game like this, until now. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The graphics was fantastic and the music was charming and relaxing. I'd love to play another game like this again.

    I quite enjoyed this game. The graphics were good and I also liked the background music. I am just a disappointed since this was a small game. Anyways I hope the studio comes up with Stray 2. Interested about the afterstory. What happened to the others and did the cat meet with their friends. Anyway good game and hope that many others play this.

    В целом игра зашла, 7 часов геймплея пролетели очень незаметно. Изучать местные локации было интересно, головоломки решать было скучно. В принципе видно что игра создавалась для "отдыха", чтобы удобно сесть на диване с геймпадом в руках и не напрягая мозги умиляться котику, тереться об роботов и конечно же царапать их мебель.В целом игра зашла, 7 часов геймплея пролетели очень незаметно.     Ця гра просто топчік, неймовірна гра про котика який хоче вилізти із западні в яку раптово попадає, хоч і на слабких ПК вона буде підлагувати навідь на низбких. але мені це незавадило повністю полюбити цб гру!

    This game is an absolute Gem.! Made me more happy playing the first 5 minutes than some AAA titles. You can really enjoy the game as there is no grind and need to look for unnecessary collectibles. (only very few). The game has also a great length that it does not overstay it’s welcome. The story is interesting and will leave you satisfied. Created this account just to say how great it is.

    The Graphics are amazing, and that's it's main selling point. The story is interesting and kept me engaged throughout my entire playthrough. Probably one of the best Indie Games ever made.

Not every game needs to have massive playtime to be great.

I found myself constantly looking forward, peering down alleys, looking out for new things to climb on to, trying to find answers to puzzles and how to get from A to B in the most efficient way. Sure, these are inherently cat things that I'm doing, but I was so engrossed in theNo part of my fancies myself a cat person, and yet playing this game, I didn't ever really notice I WAS a cat. I found myself constantly looking forward, peering down alleys, looking out for new things to climb on to, trying to find answers to puzzles and how to get from A to B in the most efficient way. Sure, these are inherently cat things that I'm doing, but I was so engrossed in the world that I could hardly notice. The lore and world building is impeccably done. The puzzles are head scratchers at best, but that's the best kind. Especially for a game of this length. You don't spend longer trying to solve puzzles than you do exploring the world, and everything seems purposeful. Found a cool collectible? It solves a puzzle - now to find who takes it...etc. This game was just under 100% complete for me in 5h45m and I'm not at all bummed to go back for the Platinum. Really a delight of a game, and a perfect length.… Expand

    If you are allergic to cats, hate mystery, exploration and a good atmosphere in video games, don’t play Stray. Otherwise, you’ve probably already beaten it. It’s a rare occasion to get a title such as this. And if it looks like something you might enjoy, that’s likely because you most surely would.

    Stray makes the most of its choice of protagonist early on, really allowing you to do all the things a typical cat would do, though it eventually loses sight of that in favour of spotlighting the short story. That’s no cause for hissing, though it does leave the overall experience feeling somewhat like two kittens from different litters forced together. The combination works better than it should, but we’re ultimately left wondering what could’ve resulted if either half of the game had been given enough space to stand alone. [Issue#18, p.70]

    It sounds ridiculous. And maybe it is. But the first ten minutes of Stray broke our heart. We’re a soft-boiled egg when it comes to animals, even when they're completely fictional. A cat who loses his friends and then gets hurt? Enough for an intense feeling of sadness and pity. It is not the challenge, but the experience that is key in this game. You really play Stray for the atmosphere. And that's exactly right.
