The game may have some optimization bug, but once I've played it, I think that leaving aside the possible bugs that I found, it tells a very good story. They have been able to continue the story of the previous game very well, the combat feels very successful and graphically it is very good. I like that they left an open ending for a possible third game in the future. Expand

I played FO on my old rig but didn’t have a good time as it didn’t perform well. FO was amazing on my new computer and I couldn’t wait to dive into Survivor… but I never expected this!!!

Sure I also had a bit of performance issues, but overall the game ran even better than FO. I’ve made a ton of tweaks, including capping the game at 40 FPS and honestly it’s seamless now! Tracking the FPS with Rivia Tuner and it literally DOES NOT MOVE no matter what happens on screen! It’s INSANE! Now… truly, the more I play the more I’m freaking out! This game improves on every aspect of the first one, in spectacular ways!!! From the story, to the pacing, to the level design and especially combat! It’s **** insane!!! Every time I think I’m getting the hang of it, a new boss comes along, or I unlock new gear or abilities. Or the story takes me to a moon and back!!! I’m truly so, so amazed by this game. At it’s core, IT’S FUN!!!

The added insane level of customisation just adds that extra layer that makes the immersion so much better. Every time I am about to embark on a new journey to a new area, I kit my Cal out with an appropriate outfit to enhance my experience. It just adds to the cinematic when Cal seems to fit into the situation with what he’s wearing. I love it!! If I’m expecting a big fight, we do a bun, otherwise we have the hair loose for some exploring. The added physics in the hair and clothes are just supreme!

From playing the Hologram mini game, to just now unlocking the Bounties… I just had to come on here and share my experience. They fixed my performance issues with the first patch, and I can play with nearly every setting on Epic, at a PERFECT 40 FPS. Which feels buttery smooth and responsive. I have zero stutter, frame drops or lag now. My PC also stays much cooler now having capped the frame rate to a nice middle ground. I do wish it had DLSS though, as then I’d be able to max everything and turn on Ray Tracing. I have a 3070 in my MSI laptop. But honestly that all feels like overkill as my current experience is flawless.

I’m not even a Star Wars fan, like at all. So this whole world and the lore is all new to me. And it’s AMAZING!!! From the performances by the cast, the EPIC music, the detailed and beautifully constructed worlds. This game is an absolute joy to play! It’s challenging in all the right ways, the rewards feel meaningful. And exploring almost always has a nice pay off.

This game is 10 times the game Fallen Order was, and that game was GOOD. But this, this is on another level! I can not wait to see where the story goes. I’m only 20 hours in now! I just came back from Jedha. I am sorry to the people who worked on this game to have it review bombed the way that it was. However I’m taking notes from how things have gone with releases the past few years, adding about a month or two after release before I jump in, so the kinks can be ironed out. However with Survivor, you guys pretty much fixed every issue I was was having with that initial patch, which came days after release. So thanks for that.

PHENOMENAL GAME!!! Holy **** Thank you to everyone involved! This truly is so, so much fun!!! I never expected it to be THIS GOOD!!! Nor that I’d have this much fun playing it. Feels like it’s been years since I’ve played a game where literally every aspect has so much love and care in it, that the entire experience just becomes legendary!

It's one of those games I think about playing when I am not playing it. Points deducted just because somehow the souls-like elements of this game still feels somewhat half-baked, and I still absolutely dislike the map and navigation systems. Put me a clear path forward if I want it, similar to Dead Space's awesome navigation.

I have to be honest, the user scores totally surprised me on this one. They've been going downhill for a while but the number of zeros here are just a joke. To think, I actually used to sort games by user review to see something I might have missed! Well, those days are LONG gone. I don't even bother filtering by user scores anymore, it's just two laughably inaccurate based on the complaint culture that's taken over gaming. If you're a Star wars fan, if you like RPGs, if you like action games, you're going to want to check this one out! Don't even think twice. If you're reading this then it's on sale.

I’ve never written a review for a game in my life, but considering the overwhelming negative reviews this game is getting, I felt compelled to write something positive. I understand people are frustrated that the game has performance issues, but the game itself shouldn’t be getting bad reviews because of that—the game developer should. I played on PS5 and I only had one small hiccup where the game crashed within the first 3-4 hours of the game, and then after that, I never had another issue.

But then again, I’m sure my opinion is irrelevant since I’m not a hardcore gamer. I don’t spend thousands of dollars on gaming hardware, and I don’t even really know the difference between 30 fps vs. 60 fps. I’m just an average millennial that still gets amazed when I play a game that looks super realistic.

With that being said, I just finished the game, and…wow. It was AMAZING, in my opinion. The story was great, the acting was great, the gameplay was great, and the visuals were stunning. Throughout like, half of the game (probably more), I kept thinking that even though I liked this game a lot, I preferred Jedi Fallen Order more. However, the ending completely changed my perspective and I still can’t get over how good that ending was.

If anyone reads this review, I’m sure you’ll think I’m some sort of shill, or EA employee, but I’m really just an average, occasional gamer who thinks this game is getting a lot of unnecessary flak.

This is a great single player game with great gameplay. I love how it evolved from the first part. The combat evolved a lot and there is a lot of variance how to fight enemies. I finished the first part on Grand Master difficulty. And now already spend ~15 hours on Jedi survivor also on the hardest difficulty. It brings a lot of joy once you master the parry mechanic and understand how to defeat different enemies (spend 40 minutes on Rancor).
If you like challenging single player game with great combat - just pick the hardest difficulty and the game will bring you a lot of fun.
The only negative part is performance, it's not terrible, it's ok. I play on Xbox series X on 4K TV, I have some noticable fps drops time to time, but that is 4k and the console is already 3 years after release, it's analogue of rtx 2070-2080. So if you have rtx 30**/40** series and full HD monitor - I believe there wouldn't be any noticable issues with fps. I mean Witcher 3 had good enough 100+ fps only after many years of release and the game was still good. So this one is great as well.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a game that truly stands out and could very well be a strong contender for Game of the Year 2023. Playing it on the PS5 was an absolute delight, as the game took full advantage of the console's power and capabilities.

From the very beginning, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor managed to capture the essence of what it feels like to become a Jedi in a video game. The gameplay was immersive and engaging, making me feel like a true Jedi as I wielded my lightsaber and used the Force to take on enemies. The introduction of Stances added a whole new layer of depth to the combat, giving me more options and strategies to use in battles.

The visuals in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor were nothing short of breathtaking. The environments were beautifully rendered, and the character designs were on point. Whether I was exploring the vast landscapes or engaging in intense lightsaber duels, the graphics always managed to impress.

While the story of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor did a good job of picking up from its previous title, I couldn't help but feel that there was something missing. The narrative felt a bit empty at times, and the ending left me wanting more. Perhaps the developers were saving some surprises for future content, but I couldn't shake the feeling that the story could have been more fleshed out.

Despite this, the overall experience of playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was nothing short of phenomenal. The gameplay, visuals, and the feeling of becoming a Jedi all combined to create a truly memorable and enjoyable gaming experience. This is one of those few games that excel even when they drop a sequel, and it's a testament to the skill and passion of the developers.

It also offers a thrilling and challenging experience, much like a Souls-game. The difficulty level truly put my skills to the test, and I found myself facing formidable foes and intense battles throughout the game. It's not a walk in the park, but that's what makes the victories all the more rewarding.

The game's combat system, inspired by Souls-like games, requires precise timing, strategic planning, and a good understanding of enemy patterns. Each encounter felt like a true test of my abilities as a Jedi, and I had to adapt and learn from my mistakes to overcome the challenges that lay ahead.

While the difficulty may be daunting at times, it added a layer of excitement and tension to the gameplay. Every encounter with powerful enemies or intimidating bosses kept me on the edge of my seat, knowing that a single misstep could lead to defeat.

The comparison to Souls-games is not to be taken lightly, as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor truly lives up to the reputation of its challenging counterparts. It's a game that demands dedication and perseverance from players, but in return, it offers a deeply rewarding and satisfying experience for those who are willing to take on the challenge.

In addition to this, customization actually has its edge on its one. I prefer the customization value this game has given me. It made obsess on how Cal should look for every part of the game I am in. With that, It really made me explore the world even more to find materials, and other cosmetics the game can offer me. How I wish there is a Poncho!

In conclusion, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a must-play for any Star Wars fan or anyone who has ever dreamt of becoming a Jedi. The gameplay is engaging and varied, the visuals are stunning, and the feeling of wielding a lightsaber and using the Force is simply unmatched. While the story could have been more fulfilling, the overall experience of playing this game is one that will stay with me for a long time. If you're looking for an epic and immersive Star Wars adventure, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the game to play. May the Force be with you!

I thought the original first one was great. This sequel has shown improvements in every area, except for stability, but that can be repaired over time. It was a great game and would recommend to anyone with a love of Star Wars or action/adventure games.

I would even put this game on the level of God of War Ragnarok, if it wasn't for two important issues. First, the game is still not optimized performance wise even after all the patches (and it already got it's share of review bombing here for this). At the moment on PS5 it's not game breaking any more, but you can often feel the substantial frame rate drop even on performance mode. And second, while the combat is really nice, it is not at the level of God of War or Sekiro, it's not very diverse and the skill tree is not very useful, there's little variety in moves even with the different available stances. However, overall it's a great game and if you are a fan of the Star wars universe it is definitely a must for you. Expand

As of now, I don’t recommend this game to anyone playing on PS5. The frame rate (mostly at or below 50 FPS in a blurry looking 1080p) is still unacceptable for an AAA title on such a capable hardware. Buyers beware.

This game simply is NOT READY. Even a month after release. Just discovered another game breaking bug (cannot interact with BD-1 anymore, so I can't use electric darts, so I had to restart the game. In performance mode on the PS5, the frames per second are all over the place, often bouncing between 45 and 50fps, and only really reaching the targeted 60fps in certain sections. You can also expect frequent screen taring.

    Combat:
The combat feels a lot less fluid than the original game due to the fact the game spams a lot of various mobs, each enemy type seems to have an un-blockable attack and you can't interrupt your current action to block. The result is your left feeling more like a punching bag than a jedi. Parrying is also made awkward due to the frequent FPS drops.

    Story:
Not much to be said here, it's fairly bland, the twists and turns are easy to predict, and some decisions and actions my characters are utterly non-sensical.

    Customization:
There's definitely improvement here, no more ponchos and a little more to choose from. Still, not quite as diverse a selection as it could be.

    Presentation and level design:
Levels look good, you seem to spend the bulk of your time on the same planet, and that planet is chocked full of tedious busywork which gets boring fast. Some of the platforming sections are extremely frustrating and quite badly designed. For the most part though the platforming is the better part of the game.

Having said that, I am honestly a little blown away by this game. I'm a gamer in my 30s, and quit more games than I finish because there just aren't that many anymore that really, really float my boat. Games in recent memory that I got truly hooked on were Elden Ring, Hollow Knight and Cuphead. I considered Fallen Order to be mediocre in many ways. This game improves on Fallen Order in every conceivable way. I have hardly a negative thing to say about it apart from the fact that performance is not great. A month later, texture pop-in, some minor screen tearing and performance drops are a fact of life. Presentation-wise, the game somewhat pales in comparison to the likes of God of War: Ragnarok. However, there are some truly visually stunning moments as well.

Gameplay here is freaking awesome, and despite being a somewhat narrative heavy game, this is a game you truly play. Guardians of the Galaxy, this is not. I have played most of the game dual-wielding on Jedi Master difficulty. Grandmaster would be doable. I'm not having much difficulty. I play this game very similarly to Sekiro, with attack rebound to R1. It's a rhythmic dance of parry, attack and doge, with some telekinesis thrown in. It's consistently satisfying, despite enemies offering up no loot. Movement is fun and free feeling, hugely improved over Fallen Order.

The homeworld of Koboh and the way that it opens up as the game progresses ought to satisfy any Souls or Metroidvania fan. Worldbuilding is clever with characters you encounter in the wild who will then return to a saloon which is satisfying to watch as it grows. Sense of place and player impact on the world is significant and satisfying. The map is much more useful this time around and the lack of a compass, minimap or icons keeps the sense of exploration feeling organic.

Characters and voice-acting are genuinely really good here. The script is good too. Not just by videogame standards. There are emotionally affecting moments, and organically funny stuff throughout. There is a literally a character names Skoova Stev, and it's genuinely fun and not an eyeroll.

I'm giving this game a 9, because I would still love to see some actual gear and a bit more player customizability in the next installment. This game is really fantastic. i hope that they can release the next one with more polish.

Pointless running and jumping, sliding and wall running which we've all seen jedi do. Oh wait, no we haven't . Did the game designers even look at previous star wars sources before designing this bland world.

Fights are silly. It's mostly parry-and-dodge-until-you-can-land-a-hit. Sometimes though your dodges will not work.
The story is childish and a lot of dialogues make me think I'm playing a six year old being praised for no reason. Being an adult, if feels insulting.
Graphically, it's OK when it doesn't glitch and the music is OK. That' s the reason I'm giving it a 3 and not a 1.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Jedi Fallen Order was a good game with certain issues but Jedi Survivor fails as a 'next gen' game. Planets are bigger but duller. Their design is not as good and memorable as in Fallen Order, not to mention there are only 2 planets in Survivor but 5 in FO.

The slow ability is removed from the game and replaced with boring mind control (temporary alignment change of hostile AI to friendly). The slow is not used in puzzles and is only available in combat by activating the 'super meter' (basically cuckrage mode from GoW). Survivor introduces 3 new stances (5 in total) but only 2 can be equipped at the same time for some retarded reason. You can switch stances at mediation (save) points but hairstyle can be changed in the pause menu immediately, smh. The story is just a huge sequel bait and is based on nonsensical, lame circumstances (the protagonist falls into an ancient tomb containing long lost knowledge while going for a spare part in the basement — literally). Survivor introduces close to no new major characters, mostly antagonists (they all die, unsurprisingly), new good-guys characters all die in the prologue and are replaced with old characters.
Additionally, a very awkward, pushed and out of nothing romance is incorporated into the story. The devs decided to have a character, Merrin, go full blown edgy and deep 'Russkij akcent' that is so phonyaß and tryharded and unnatural as фак. It was much milder in FO and now my ears bleed from cringe.

Lastly, the game is technically in an abysmal state. Frames drop below 10 during lightsaber cutscenes, the game drops below 20 fps in large areas (even on performance mode), hardlocks, softlocks, crashes are common even 2 months post initial release.

Fallen Order wasn't perfect, it had performance issues as well (loading textures) but it had far better designed worlds and the story was built coherently, characters were utilized better.

Jedi Survivor is similar to Horizon Forbidden West with its story - unrelated to the prequel, based on nonsense, mary-sue character saving the world, pointless characters, heavy sequel baiting; and to A Plague Tale Requiem with its 'cinematic experience' gameplay and performance issues.
While Survivor may not be as disappointing for me as these two games, it's technically in an unpresentable state right now.

Loved the game so much. Never played anything like that. Gameplay and lvl design are brilliant. And story was better than all last movies. Game of the year for me.

One of the best Star Wars game I've played. It is an excellent sequel for Fallen Order. Also loving the photo mode of the game

Fantastic game and story. I didn’t have any of the issues others are mentioning. No screen tearing, FPS drops, glitches, etc. This continuation of Cal’s story was perfect, the lightsaber battles were fun and cinematic, the combat was fun, and the new characters and their stories were very well done. I really hope their is a third installment of his journey in the future.

The game is fairly enjoyable, gameplay mechanics are pretty good, even though there are less worlds to explore like in Fallen Order they are bigger and full of fun and hard enemies to encounter. Unfortunately it is not a masterpiece due to the many bugs and performance issues, although most have been fixed some are still present like the holomap not being available and the only way to make it work again is going to the holotactics table y Pyloon Saloon wich is inconvenient to say the least. This game is good. Don't waste your time on forspoken, redfall, or other half baked game. You will have a great time playing this. The star wars jedi video game series is by far the best star wars to come our since Disney bought it.

Manuel saves only is incredibly disrespectfull of users time. Around 2/3 trough the game my file breaks and becorse i am not allowed to manuel save I now have to start over.
Insisting on autosave only adds nothing to the player exspirience. There is no good reason for this

Story is great, gameplay is good, but the game is not a finished product. I been playing on the ps5, and all the distortion and glitches. Compared to other ps5 games in 4k, it's just terrible. Fix it Respawn! If I am paying $80 with taxes for a game, I expect it to be a $80 game. I'm going to finish the game before you fix all the issues.

I enjoy playing this game, I have about 10 hours, story is good. performance is ok-ish, some bluriness and crashes.
My problem is that the skill tree is pretty bad, I don t really feel that I progress, and unlock new skills, methods, and combos in the combat, so it makes the combat a bit boring because it s mostly the same.
Level design is fun and good, I enjoy going around the levels,

Better installment than Fallen Order in every aspect..by the time I got to play it, it was patched up, and I experienced much fewer bugs than those who played on day 1. Open world suits the game, but I preferred the more linear metroidvania style. That's me. And I'm not a fan of soulslike games or combats. That's me again.

I have had absolutely zero issues with this game. It looks fantastic, it plays excellent and is an excellent improvement on Fallen Order. I think people can get too hyped up in the furore of trashing something. My advice would be to buy the game and play it for yourself and you'll see that if you enjoy Star Wars that this, bar Andor, is the best Star Wars story for 30 years.

Sometimes uneven, often wondrous, Survivor is bombastic and joyous, though it feels like a middle child in search of a trilogy ending. May the Force be with it. [Issue#28, p.72]

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the finest Star Wars game ever.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a much bigger game than before, with plenty of new moves, collectibles and characters to discover. The size of its open-world maps means it also lacks some of the variety of its predecessor, but there is so much to see and do that you'll likely not care one jot. Perhaps the most impressive aspect is how well fleshed-out the adventure is - better even than many of the TV series and films on which it is based. This is a blockbuster in the truest sense.
