I cannot play this game from disc without internet connection. Why they sell game on disc when download is required? If I wanted to download the game, I would buy the digital version, not the physical. Shame on you EA!!!!! They should wait 2 months, and finish the game and afrer that make version on two BR discs if that many data is required.

Game would be an 8.5-9 out of 10 but the performance issues are killing the experience. Jedi Survivor simply wasn't ready for release and it's downright unethical to charge $70+ and release in this state. Worst performing game on PS5 I've played and it's not close. Such a shame too because it's a great game otherwise.

I don't usually leave reviews, but this game is an insult to us all. Playing on a PS5 in performance mode and the game still stutters, character is constantly ghosting. Textures flashing or blurred. This game should 't have been released as it is right now. 4 point because otherwise i like the story so far.

This is difficult to review, there is no question that the game and narrative is spectacular, but an absolute disaster and waste of money at this moment in time especially on PS5. There is no way the graphical quality on PS5 can be accepted, it's that bad. A blurry pixelated mess that appears to cut our more than 60% of detail compared to the PC version. There is no way the graphical quality on PS5 can be accepted, it's that bad. A blurry pixelated mess that appears to cut our more than 60% of detail compared to the PC version. Running it in performance mode results in something that makes the PS5 look like a PS2. The PC version has serious issues but at least the graphical prowess can be appreciated, not the case with PS5. It's worse than the Cyberpunk initial release in that sense. Therefore, all involved are completely aware of the state it's in and have no problem charging the unsuspecting public £69.99 for a product that doesn't work and employs substandard previous gen graphics, worse is that Sony PlayStation has become one of the worst companies in the world for customer service, true to form their chat bot won’t connect to an agent and nobody replies when e-mails are sent to CS., also no tele number they can be contacted on. This means requesting a refund is an absolute nightmare. I can forgive development issues, but can’t and won’t forgive PlayStation’s lack of customer care, support and their agenda driven politics. This product shouldn’t have gone to market in its current state and they make it impossible to request refunds. Think it's time to ditch PlayStation and focus on Steam and Xbox. So far this month Sony has effectively stolen £89.99 from me, I also purchased horizon burning shores which is astonishingly bad and typical of their agenda, but at least Jedi Survivor will become one of the best games of all time providing they can fix its problems on each platform. The game cannot load all of the assets and textures at all, I left my screen by a wall watching it glitch and struggle to load and it still did it 5 mins after I went to make coffee. It looks like PS1 textures sometimes.

I've experienced path blocking bugs several times already, interactable objects in major puzzles not being interactable, Two separate times so far and another time 5 minutes after the second, a bug where you permanently lose exp because it doesn't spawn it back properly, load in glitches where you fall through the map, this is just not acceptable at all. Are you making a game for your investors or your audience EA?. A deadline is only a guide and only as good as when it is finished. I am sick and tired of games getting pushed out unfinished in a pseudo early access state charging people full price for when we "fix it later".

This game is a 9 or a 10, the release gets a fat 0 and it will be a fat 0 until it is fixed. What a damn shame.

I was expecting some small amount of eyestrain from the lightsaber combat effects, but the performance issues make the game virtually unplayable if you have any kind of photosensitivity issues. Once again EA delivers a terrible PC port. The game that already suffered from unlikable and ugly side characters now is a ugly terribly performing game overall.

The professional critics giving this a 80 or 100 score should be ashamed of themselves. They can't have actually played this.

I loved the first one and had high hopes for the sequel, and the game started off pretty well. It has a great first act and seemed to be everything that was promised. There are new stances, a plethora of customization choices for your lightsaber and Cal’s outfit. The cinematography, voice acting, script and story have continued to be above average and are this game’s primary strengths. Unfortunately, they do not make up for this game’s many, MANY shortcomings in almost all other areas.

We should get the obvious issues out of the way; the ones everyone talks about: performance. This game runs abysmally. It really is as bad as other users have described. There was a huge red glad when I was booting this up for the first time. I was setting HDR and other settings and got the the performance or quality mode preset options. I’m not joking when I tell you that I laughed out loud when I saw just how terrible this game looked in performance mode. I joked with my girlfriend who was watching with me that it looked like a game from the ps3 era. It is sub-720p in performance mode. I knew this game had terrible performance issues so I had contemplated using performance mode but selected quality and a low frame rate because I just could not stand to play it in performance mode. The frame rate is terrible. It’s as bad as they say. Constant dropped frames, low rates, etc. in larger areas like koboh it is especially noticeable. And don’t ever go near water. The game cannot handle rendering water at all. Even a small waterfall will tank your frame rate into the teens. It is as ridiculous as it sounds. You would think that with such terrible performance issues that this game looks beautiful, but it absolutely does not. In quality mode with hdr on (which is broken), this game looks like a ps4 game. It doesn’t help that everything is muddy and so visual cues such as teleportation circles are hard to see. The game also renders wind terribly which is a big game mechanic in some of the areas. You can’t even tell where it’s blowing or what direction it pushes you. The bugs. Oh my lord the bugs. Every single area, every single action, every single story beat is affected by at least one. I was exploring the desert in Jedha and the sand on the ground in some parts were completely black like they couldn’t be rendered in the engine. Incredibly jarring. Falling off of handholds during platforming sections, dropping through the floor, animations bugging out and hitching. It’s all very jarring and wonky. Now we are getting into the game’s biggest issues. Yes, the previous issues were appetizers. This game is entirely too big. I don’t mean that in an assassin’s creed way. I mean there is very little to do and yet the map is 4-5x bigger than it has any reason to be. Every single thing in this game is preceded by inordinate amounts of time walking because the spaces are so huge and empty. For the life of me I cannot understand why there is this much walking and dead space. It is insane how much walking there is. There is no meaningful story information to be gleaned, as in companion dialogue etc. It is literally silent walking for far too long. By FAR, this game’s biggest issue it the combat. There are so many problems with it that it is hard to be inclusive of every one of them. This game is marketed as a souls like with (relatively) tight combat and design choices that emphasize this relation. Respawning enemies, meditation points instead of combat checkpoints, etc would all lead you to believe that the combat system is fair and yet it is far from it. The first game struck a balance between a lot of things such as enemy attack queueing, aggression, and unblockables. This game has thrown it all out of the window. Enemies spam unblockables, many of them mixups which have unreachable windows. Five enemies will spam unblockables on you at the same time while the others constantly shoot you with blasters stunning you. It is **** broken. A ridiculous amount of enemies in combat encounters coupled with terrible hit boxes and almost nonexistent punish windows make this the worst combat system I have ever played. I am not exaggerating. Not to mention the terrible frame rate exacerbating all of these issues. This is a solid pass. I wish I could tell more people not to buy this. It’s a huge letdown and hopefully enough people see this review and pass on it. The story is okay, it’s really nothing special. It is presented pretty well, but everything else is trash. Do not. Buy. This game.

I am sure that the Respawn made a great game, but given the technical problems at launch, I do not recommend you buy at this time. It will take likely a few months for the game to be patched to a level that makes it playable on console.

Game Journalists like IGN need to be more transparent about how games really perform on release. Lying about or omitting poor technical performance is damaging consumer's trust.

Edit: let's put it this way, when it gets to the point where I can't tell if I'm just dumb, and not able to solve the puzzle or if I'm dealing with a bug, that's where I draw the line. When prompts don't trigger when they should or if you're constantly trying to determine if you're In a bug or not, no dude... Not for $70. Again, there's got to be a way to just class action publishers for this. There's nothing like furting the bottom line that wakes investors up.

For a little flavor, the game is a little bit god of war, titanfall 2, and horizon...I actually like the game TBH, which is why I'm updating this a second time, but still...that doesn't excuse the poor runtime experience. As I said before, I keep ending up in situation(environmental puzzles) where I cant tell if its a bug or a feature.

After finishing the story I'm upgrading the score from 4 to 8 due to how many time I sat back and said, man this is a good game. Further, ps5 is serviceable, it was distracting at first impression but the game was so good, I soon forgot/ignored the performance.

This would likely be a fun game that is close to being ruined by poor performance, bugs and, at times, unacceptable visual fidelity that leaves characters and scenery looking washed out and blurry (confirmed below 720P!). Not in the same the level of infamy as Cyberpunk at launch, but a very poor technical state currently. Hopefully, EA will address some of this via future patches.

We all already know that new games are full with bugs and need patches, but this game isn't even finished.
IMO it shouldn't even be legal to release games before they work properly.

However If the game performed as it should I would give it around 8/10, its a solid game, but its not a masterpiece. There are other games in this genre which is better than this game.
But if you a Star wars fan then this is probably their best one yet.
"Only" problem is that its seems to still be in developing stage, so if you want to enjoy this experience you should clearly wait until they deliver a complete and fully working version of the game.

EA games should be really ashamed and I will never buy a new game from them again before checking with USER CRITICS, because its obvious that we cant trust these paid critics.

It's called "Sponsored Content" or "Native Advertising". So it's nothing new that big companies like EA are paying the media and content creators for positive reviews.

Its simply not acceptable to pay full price for unfinished games. There should be no argue about that. They will keep doing this as long as they make money of it. Pre ordering and buying unpolished games only enhances this problem.

They made a conscious decision and CHOSE to release the game in this state.
Under no circumstances such behavior should be accepted.

Wasn’t there an article where they (Respawn, EA) celebrated how quickly they developed and released this game? Well, the results speak for themselves..

unfortunately I believe we will see many more games be released like this in the future. As long as they make money from doing it they will keep doing it.

But they wont fool me next time.

So I'm a big fan of the franchise, the dev and the first game. And if you love starwars then JS has lots of good aspects from gameplay to graphics to sound. But right now on ps5...It's a mess :(

In a galaxy far far away one day soon JS might be an 8 or 9... as it's as good as the original. But on ps5 (and pc) despite the publisher and co lies, blame and mis information...There is a large cross section of players / payers who have a broken game. Myself included.

"Broken" and more accurately unfinished. Poor performance and more importantly an inconsistent frame rate which stutters in performance mode. With audio desyncing And cutscenes all over the place. Plus some hard crashes and broken quests. And ofcourse this all effects gameplay and storytelling...which is really good ...when it works...

And if you're not having any issues and have a magical 60fps 4k version...then it doesn't mean others payers do too.
And a simple Google video will provide 100s of legit issues by upset players...fans just like you.

The above issues have Not been fixed by the mandatory day 1 patch. And all those physical media players who paid 100£€$ but don't have net access or room on their tiny ssd ...have bought a permanently broken mess! And I believe how full your ssd drive is effects this game or it did for me. But a 150gig with large patches means my 500gig free of a 800 gig ssd leaves me with few options. But no one seems to care about this.

So imo there is no excuse on consoles for these issue... beyond the game was rushed out early. And we know that's a fact as ea released a pre-release statement acknowledging above issues etc.

So this negative review is justified. All of this junk effects a review score. And yes the game crashes once a day to ps hub so and I've lost progress too. That isn't ok either. I refuse to encourage EA and co to keep treating customers in this anti consumer way. I will amend score as game technical issues improves.

Shame on EA for charging people money for this unfinished game. Beta testers shouldn't have to pay $90. I couldn't get beyond the launch screen when I tried to play this game. Maybe I will try again in a few months when they have actually finished developing the game, but probably not.

This is a step up from the original in terms of gameplay alone. The narrative also happens to be a lot more interesting. The big downside to this game is obviously the glaring performance issues. I can overlook them quite a bit but other than that I think the side quests are pretty boring and the worlds feel empty. The game however is really fun.

It had everything to be a good game, but it wasn’t. PC with 3090 or PS5, doesn’t matter, performance is still garbage. Even downgrading graphics or disabling RTX on PC or with Performance mode on PS5… almost unplayable at times. Performance mode is a problem altogether. Doesn’t give you an acceptable performance and makes the game so… sooo ugly. But you don’t have a choice either play at 30 fps at performance mode or 10 fps with fidelity mode.
If you thought they make a bigger, better game, its not the case. They didn’t make it bigger, or not in a manner that counts. Maybe it’s part of the lore, but Cal is still the weakest jedi ever. Skill tree is kinda big, but you don’t need it. Doesn’t make you stronger because almost every low opponent can resist everything you throw at them. You only need and will be effective using parry and attack. Stances were a good idea to fight smart, but it doesn’t work either. You can’t equip then on the fly like Ghost of Tsushima. Some stances are too slow, that the simplest attack, makes you take a hit because every opponent has really fast attacks. Low enemies were actually harder and took longer to kill than bosses. The story is very predictable. The “open world” aspects its very affected by the performance…. Why would you want to explore this stuttering, low fps, blurred world?! Why bother earning exp to spend in the skill tree if it you only use parry and the force doesn’t work on 80% of the enemies?!
If you like Star Wars or maybe liked the first game and will buy the game no matter what, buy it but wait a couple of months. If you play it now it will not meet your expectations.

That means there's no reason to keep this garbage on your PS5 once you beat the game. So once that mandatory patch disappears, the disc will end up in the trash can. The developers were too cheap and lazy to give us a second disc for offline installation. All that massive GB only for the game to have performance issues. There are significant frame drops during cutscenes. This game crashed twice.

The story is terrible. The dialogue is cringeworthy and so are the running animations. The gameplay is boring and repetitive. The physics are beyond horrible. The platforming is a joke. I tried jumping onto different platforms, only to be met with invisible walls and fall to my death. I shouldn't have to fail levels due to poor and lazy level design. Well at least you can fail the platforming sections, unlike the poorly designed arty-farty pieces of garbage that were the last two God of War games. Despite being a $70 next-gen only title, nothing in this game screams next-gen. The boss fights are terrible. The lightsaber customization is worthless. Why would I care about customizing a stupid stick piece by piece? The lack of a first person mode makes it even more pointless. How about these developers spend their time actually fixing their game instead of wasting resources on gimmicky features.

As I mentioned earlier, there's no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is literally not a reason to play this game again. Charging $70 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. Let me put this in perspective. EA Battlefront 2 had a campaign, online and local multiplayer, first person mode, starships, and better graphics (that's embarrassing) for $60. This game only has the campaign for $70. Sure BF2 campaign was shorter, but at least it doesn't require internet, not to mention that I didn't have to sit through hours of boring puzzles. We all know EA is greedy, but this just proves how greedy and lazy Respawn are. $70 for half of the freaking game. I don't recommend this game at all.

Another middling, mealy, samey third person action-adventure AAA game; Jedi: Survivor is, to be fair, better than some of the other names in this field. That being said, it does absolutely nothing to break the mold of this oversaturated market, instead playing it safe from mechanics all the way down to writing.

Performance issues aside (yeah, the game runs poorly on PS5, not much to add), Survivor feels just like God of War: Ragnarok, which feels just like God of War, which feels just like Ghost of Tsushima, which feels just like Uncharted.

And if you think those are outlandish comparisons, I assure you they're not: forced vertical climbing sections, crevices to hide loading screens, starting with a familiar weapon then getting another after a mid-game conflict, annoying companions, bizarre shifts to semi-linear open worlds, skill trees with infinitesimal upgrades, a semi-autonomous grappling hook bound to L2, and so on and so forth.

While Survivor certainly executes some of these tropes better than its peers, the game still feels so copy/paste and soulless, so inoffensive that casual players and Star Wars fans alike will find almost no issues. I think this is partially exemplified through just how easy it is; my first combat-related death came almost 8 hours in, well towards the end of the second world (on Jedi Master difficulty).

Not only is combat easy, but the world is easy as well. Traversal has minimal stakes as Cal will automatically mantle ledges, BD-1 will alert you to shortcuts and other POIs. The Ubisoft bloat is also felt, as there are now side quests and plenty of annoying little ledges and cliffs to scale for character customization options.

While you can customize Cal's appearance, you can't change his personality. The Marvel/YA novel quips quickly grew old for me, despite a great performance from Cameron Monaghan.

For the sake of sounding overly-negative, there is a lot I like about this game. The multitude of customization options really make you feel like you're Cal, something the last game didn't do a great job of. The game also gives you an almost overwhelming amount of Lightsaber options which were very welcome.

While the game runs like a pile of **** in performance mode, I think the general set pieces were very well-constructed. Coruscant especially felt alive and was really fun to look at, even if the linear traversal dulled the otherwise solid introduction. Similarly, the attention to detail within the enemy types (and their out-of-combat interactions with each other) were a nice addition.

There is something about AAA studios and sequels to their third person action games that just never quite clicks. The word I'm looking for here is "boring." These games are all the same, all made to appeal to the lowest common denominator. They are lightning-in-a-bottle tech demos that, ironically, barely work on release and are quickly rendered obsolete by the next samey game in the genre.

Yet, Survivor has a lot of charm, mainly because of the Star Wars franchise. I loved the beeps and boops from the droids, the buzz of the lightsabers, and the music that littered my journey across the galaxy. It was fun (well, it wasn't, but maybe for completionists) to gather friends at Greez's bar and check in every few hours.

Still, I'd rather a game take a big swing and miss than never step to the plate at all. While I understand the praise for Survivor, I do not agree that it's the next great thing. Not even close.

A narratively engaging and mechanically sound game that defies its infrequent bugginess to be something quite excellent.

Survivor manages to trump its prequel, Fallen Order, by adding content in a truly additive fashion. It also presents a more mature and powerful story - one that manages to subvert common tropes within the Star Wars universe, and injects its messages into its gameplay in ways that are both powerful and inventive. This story is also carried by solid acting and extremely well-animated cutscenes.

Sadly, Survivor does have some issues with performance - while not nearly as abysmal as I have heard the game's performance on PC is, there were some issues on PS5 with stuttering, lengthy framerate drops, mistimed lip-sync outside of cutscenes, and three crashes to the home screen within a single area. These issues did not ruin my experience by any means, but they did leave an impression.

Overall, Jedi: Survivor is an excellent follow-up to Fallen Order, which is solid in its own right, and I would argue it even manages to surpass it. I urge anyone who feels wary about purchasing it (based on criticisms of its performance) to be cautiously optimistic, as I believe there is more than enough good here to encourage players to look past some choppiness in its performance.

So, I was extremely excited to see everything new that this game had to offer and it didn’t disappoint. Many things have been added or expanded upon from its predecessor and are mostly worthwhile additions. It adds more enemies and abilities, a huge main world to explore, side quests (rumors), challenges, an immensely fun mini game, and more. Holotactics is now one of my favorite mini games ever. You also get an outpost to interact with and recruit intriguing NPCs to. This game also has one of the coolest action sequences that I’ve ever played through (when you escape the Pilgrim Sanctuary with Merrin).

This game has some flaws though. First, the beginning of the plot feels like happenstance, more so than I can recall in any other game. No spoilers, but is Cal the luckiest Jedi in the galaxy? Also, the villain’s motives seem naive and are not fleshed out enough. Second, you obtain some gadgets very late in the story, which slightly discourages exploration, even after 25+ hours. Last, sometimes the controls are unresponsive and there are minor glitches that caused me to restart the game (R1 button not working, couldn’t change stance, or couldn’t cycle targets.)

Combat in this game was slightly frustrating too. I played on Jedi Master (Hard mode) difficulty, for context. The ranged enemies are irritating. Whether, attacking them or deflecting their shots back at them, they are highly evasive. The targeting controls are messy, so when targeting someone, if I get attacked, the game will switch targets. There was also one instance where I had an enemy trapped in a corner and he dodged all of my attacks, despite my lightsaber clipping through his body. Finally, some mini bosses have one hit kill attacks (not present in Fallen Order), which adds another level of frustration.

I personally enjoyed Jedi: Fallen Order slightly more. I found it to be simpler and better paced. The vast amount of combat options in this game is frankly overwhelming and unnecessary. And, maybe the story could have been told better. Regardless, this is an amazing sequel that I still highly recommend. The plot gets pretty dark towards the end and I can’t wait to see the payoff in another entry. - 8.5

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a much bigger game than before, with plenty of new moves, collectibles and characters to discover. The size of its open-world maps means it also lacks some of the variety of its predecessor, but there is so much to see and do that you'll likely not care one jot. Perhaps the most impressive aspect is how well fleshed-out the adventure is - better even than many of the TV series and films on which it is based. This is a blockbuster in the truest sense.
