In other words, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a game that’s an absolute joy to play. Exploring these worlds, slicing through enemies, customizing how Cal looks, uncovering the game’s lore: it’s all done perfectly here, in a way that should appeal to anyone, regardless of their familiarity with Star Wars itself (though being a fan probably helps). There are minor flaws, to be sure, but they’re so minor, they feel like nitpicking. In a year that’s already featured some outstanding games, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still manages to stand out.

Jedi Survivor is a true triple-A game in that sense - a lovingly developed Star Wars game that’s improved on its predecessor and packed full of jaw-dropping moments visually and in the joypad. It’s Hollywood popcorn fun at its best, all controllable and with a real edge of difficulty that - rather than frustrates - pulls you back for more, like a good book.

It might not quite match the narrative prowess of BioWare’s Knights of the Old Republic, but Jedi: Survivor has so much else going for it. Whether you’re tracking down optional bounty hunters, solving the puzzles in those Jedi temples, or searching Koboh’s many obscure thoroughfares for character upgrades, the game’s tactile controls and precisely balanced challenge make it consistently rewarding. Meanwhile, its biggest moments rival anything games like God of War or Elden Ring can throw at you. Be assured, this is the Star Wars game you’re looking for.

The best action adventure released in 2023 so far, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has a confidence to its world and the play that it totally manages to back up by how fun it is. A must-play, perhaps the best action game of the generation so far.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is Star Wars at its very best. A thrilling adventure with a stellar cast tied together with smart, expansive combat, and huge new worlds to explore. Performance issues aside, it's easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made and only makes us want more tales from the adventures of Cal Kestis and BD-1.

Respawn Entertainment solidifies itself as the best Star Wars developer around. Crafting a big galaxy to explore with an epic story that borrows and explores past Star Wars lore. Jedi Survivor improves on its predecessor and surpasses it in every way.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor improves on its predecessor in every way, giving us not only more of what we loved, but doing so in a massive cinematic interconnected universe full of brand new engaging features. This is your early contender for game of the year.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor provides one of the best action-adventure experiences ever. Aside from being a fantastic story within the Star Wars universe, its gameplay raises the bar for the genre to another galaxy. Every element of this package strikes a fine balance through puzzles, combat, exploration, and progression, which doesn't overshadow the masterful character writing. Further, the updates to map design do wonders for those looking to spend as much time as possible in this world. While some pacing dips are present, this is a must-play game that will make you a true believer of the force because it's strong with this one.

Star Wars JEDI: Survivor is already a classic. Maybe it’s the best Star Wars production of this new era in the franchise - ok, tied with The Mandalorian. Thrilling and challenging gameplay, great storytelling and a universe filled with amazing narratives, great characters and an unique setting. It’s a must have for anyone who loves a good adventure - being a Star Wars fan or not.

Developer Respawn Entertainment clearly took a measured and thoughtful approach to analyze what worked and what didn’t in its last Star Wars game, and Jedi: Survivor feels like a worthy attempt at evolution. It captures the magic of Star Wars as well as anything in the current canon, and it’s a stellar adventure in its own right. Still, nailing the fantasy of being a Jedi? Doesn’t hurt.

As a Star Wars game, Survivor has some very big boots to fill and given the lore contained in this universe and fan expectations, I can safely report that it successfully expands on the first game and on the PlayStation 5 delivers a true next-gen experience. Sure there are a few slight gameplay glitches here and there, however as a whole it is a very polished game from its fine-tuned gaming mechanics, Star Wars inspired graphics, wonderful narrative and characters, including the music, sound effects and voice acting, In the end, Respawn Entertainment efficaciously draw you into the character of Cal Kestis as you fight the good fight to keep the “dark side” at bay. As a long-time Star Wars fan, this is the droid game you’re looking for… and yes Jedi mind tricks are totally part of the game!

So, if you want to experience a solid adventure with improved gameplay, story, and graphics, it is clear that you should buy Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. If you liked the first game, you can't miss it, looking good so that this saga continues to bring one more installment for the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and would recommend it to anyone who is remotely a fan of the Star Wars universe, whether they're getting exposed to it for the first time or are of a certain age and have loved it since they heard Luke Skywalker whine about power converters decades ago. Respawn is onto something here, and I've low-key been waiting — wishing — for Cal Kestis to show up in one of the upcoming shows or movies. These games have made that kind of impact, and I'm looking forward to where the story goes next.

Like the apprentice who surpass the master, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has learned from the success and failure from it's predecessor to become a better sequel in every way and has some of the best moments we've seen in a Star Wars video game, but it's still burdened with technical problems.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is bigger, better, and more bombastic than its predecessor, while it also challenges you in ways that few other Star Wars works have done to date. It’s beautiful and begging to be played.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a much bigger game than before, with plenty of new moves, collectibles and characters to discover. The size of its open-world maps means it also lacks some of the variety of its predecessor, but there is so much to see and do that you'll likely not care one jot. Perhaps the most impressive aspect is how well fleshed-out the adventure is - better even than many of the TV series and films on which it is based. This is a blockbuster in the truest sense.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a game that, despite a few launch bugs and inconsistent jumps, genuinely delivers an engaging experience for fans. The level design and personalization options for both combat and character appearances are definite highlights. Characters that are fun, interesting, and have a purpose. I had a lot of fun seeing where Cal Kestis’ story went, and I’m interested in seeing where these characters go from here. Combat is near perfect; no matter your style, the puzzles are challenging enough to keep me entertained when I’m not clearing out Stormtroopers. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the good Star Wars. The kind you hope for every time you start a new video game or begin a new Star Wars tv series. A story so good I don’t want to share any of it; go play it for yourself.

If I was simply grading Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in a straight comparison with its predecessor, it would already be a great game. However, Respawn took a hard look at what worked and what didn’t, and they’ve polished, fixed and expanded on virtually everything. From the robust combat suite, upgraded movement system, detailed world, and exciting story that not only rivals the best Star Wars games, but the major triple-A titles out right now, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is simply one of the best videogame sequels released in recent memory.

In essence, Respawn has understood the need for a Star Wars game that isn’t beholden to the other films and TV series that exist. Cal’s story is so isolated from what we’re familiar with in the original trilogy and other spin-off media that it gives the writers room to innovate and build up their own little slice of lore that fits with the Star Wars continuity. It goes far beyond the scope of where Fallen Order’s story ended, adopting a more unpredictable but satisfying trajectory. It’s because of this that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is now one of my favourite stories set in that universe. It’s bold, it’s brave, and above all else – it’s exciting. It fits in so well with what we know about the franchise’s overarching lore, while also offering enough new content that it could stand on its own.
  32. Apr 26, 2023
    90
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes what Fallen Order achieved and wall-runs with it, then double-jumps and air-dashes straight into an epic lightsaber battle. Rather than taking us back to square one to begin Cal’s journey as a Padawan again, we’re trusted with control of a full-fledged Jedi Knight who we can grow into a master of superhuman mobility and fantastic and challenging combat. With a new set of larger, more diverse, and densely packed worlds to explore and a memorable cast of returning characters, Survivor tells a story that may be predictable but is still fun and at times emotional to watch play out. Launch performance issues aside, it’s a sequel that does virtually everything better than the original – which was already an exceptional Star Wars game. If Respawn makes one more like this it’ll complete the best Star Wars trilogy in 30 years, hands down.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor is a great game! Cal Kestis has taken the bottle and it's nice to find an accomplished Jedi more in control of his powers, at the heart of a gripping and well-written journey where the characters are interesting and in which the feeling of living a great adventure is present! The gameplay evolves in an extremely satisfying way and we appreciate all the possibilities offered by the latter, whether for Cal or BD-1, our traveling companion. The few minor technical problems never prevent you from being ecstatic in front of the magnificent landscapes and the moments of action.

With a cast of both fresh and familiar characters, an engaging story, and hours of captivating exploration across beautiful planets and biomes, this game is sure to leave fans of the franchise on the edge of their seats. Cal's incredible sense of movement and newfound lightsaber skills spur empowering battles with groups of raiders, stormtroopers, and alien creatures. Being able to personalise your experience with cosmetics, game-changing perks and optional side quests means the journey is yours to carve. Bosses might benefit from more inventiveness and there's the occasional visual bug and platforming visibility issue, yet it's all worth it for the bliss of being a Jedi in action. Star War Jedi: Survivor is slightly outlier in its foundational universe and in its pedigree and influences. It’s a mish-mash that somehow makes a whole, but for anyone keen on what that means, I can only say saddle up and enjoy the ride, because for its shortcomings and intimidation in size, scope and IP density, Survivor is one heck of a frontier game.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a sequel worthy of the name. Respawn has expanded and improved everything that he had convinced us of his predecessor, starting with a well-written story and not without significant twists near the end credits. As far as the playful mix is concerned, Cal Kestis' new journey has proved to be an excellent action adventure, with a rich and layered combat system and a truly satisfying exploratory component. Net of an underdeveloped bestiary and some oscillations in the field of animations, the Force flows powerfully in this space odyssey by EA, which also offers a show on the visual front.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a sequel that practically improves on many of the flaws and strengths of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, further refining an enjoyable gameplay between galactic battles using the lightsaber and the exploration of massive planets, full of activity and with many secrets to unearth. The new fighting styles and Force powers are fantastic, but jumping and climbing in the scenarios offers moments of pure entertainment. The main problems of Respawn Entertainment's adventure are, instead of a technical nature, made less evident by a noteworthy artistic and sound direction. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor may not be a masterpiece, but it is one of the best videogames set in the Star Wars universe.

Despite performance issues throughout my gameplay, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor meaningfully improves on many of the gameplay issues from the previous title. From a more rewarding cosmetic system to side quests that give more meaning to exploring the beautifully rendered and realized worlds, it was a joy to explore the galaxy as Cal once more. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a good second chapter but those who expected a sequel better than the predecessor may be slightly disappointed. Unfortunately, in the face of many well-structured innovations related to the fighting styles and puzzles scattered in the game worlds, there are also some far from negligible smudges such as a plot all too devoted to fanservice and an excessive amount of secondary content. However, the one packaged by Respawn and Electronic Arts is a more than satisfactory action video game, with solid gameplay and a first-rate artistic / graphic sector.

With Jedi Survivor, Respawn-Electronic Arts takes us on a real Star Wars adventure. The atmosphere and the grandiosity of the sets go into light speed, thanks to the use of ray tracing and the power of the PS5 / Xbox Series generation. The open areas are really fun to ride and never veer into easy filling. The staging is top notch from start to finish, delivering both epic and touching scenes. The writing and the scenario even gain in thickness. Finally, we would have just liked the gameplay, certainly more complete, to be the subject of the same trajectory correction... Beyond a fairly classic start to the adventure, Jedi Survivor sticks to the skin - even after 30 hours of gameplay. An excellent action-adventure game and an excellent Star Wars title.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is an enjoyable game whether you're a Star Wars fan or a person outside the franchise. A robust, pleasant combat system that is the axis of a title that takes us to a wide variety of locations, poses constant challenges and tells us a story with a much stronger narrative than what the first installment gave us. The sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is here and Respawn Entertainment does it again. Delivering an excellent Star Wars game that feels grander than its predecessor. This is in the locations you visit, but also the greater variety of gameplay and all that goes with it. Technically, however, it is not optimal yet with the necessary pop-in and the somewhat shaky frame rate in performance mode. Apart from that, the game is simply highly recommended.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a game Star Wars deserved. Even if you were not convinced by the previous installment, the sequel is still worth giving it a chance. Not only does it further improve those elements that worked well before, but it also fixes some of Fallen Order’s flaws with minor changes and makes Cal more interesting as a character. It’s the best Star Wars game published by EA and one of the best ever created. However, it could’ve used more polish, because various bugs and shortcomings spoil the fun too often.

Cal Kestis' latest journey, this time to seek out a long-lost Jedi stronghold on Tanalorr, should feel intimately familiar to fans of Jedi: Fallen Order. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds upon the successes of the original title but doesn't quite do enough to stand up on its own merits.
  69. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has managed to build on the first game and made the combat much more enjoyable and fluid with the Stance system. On the other hand, it could have been really great if there were some content to support the feeling of exploration besides cosmetics.

Just leave me here, on these lush, gigantic worlds, and I'll be too well entertained to over-analyze Survivor's certain lack of precision or it not exactly inventing all these mechanics anew. I am docking a point for the technical state it is launching in, though.

This sequel is a success, just as expected.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a step up from its predecessor and brilliant fun, as long as you don’t let that collectible-obssessed plunderer take hold of you. It is not a narrative masterpiece, nor is it the most engaging action game in the world. But it does nothing badly, and excels where it matters. It represents the Star Wars universe accurately and places emphasis on the aspects of it that keep even jaded Andor-lovers like me interested in the IP, even after all this time. An obvious recommendation to Star Wars fans, and a hearty thumbs up to anyone else that may be even remotely interested.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes all of its most valuable feedback from the last game and improves them, making Survivor a Star Wars-adventure to enjoy. That is if the technical issues don't ruin your fun.

Survivor is fun and enjoyable, and Star Wars fans will find plenty to like here, but it’s also a very irregular game where, luckily, its strengths shine brighter than its weaknesses.
  85. It took a little longer than I’d have liked to really draw me in, but once Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had its hooks in I went happily along for the ride. If Kathleen Kennedy greenlit a Cal Kestis TV series or film, I’d be over the moon. Maybe just with a little less wall-running.

This is one of the best Star Wars games, ever. It is. The level of customization on offer, and the effortless flow of combat and exploration are perpetually invigorating. In the face of adversity, Respawn Entertainment keeps throwing out banger after banger in terms of new characters, knowing that each one will be scrutinized by die-hard fans, and embroiling them in well-written stories. I just can’t get past the performance problems as they really detract from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. I pray we get at least one more game to complete the trilogy, and if we can do everything we did right here in Survivor and have the game optimized for launch, then the third time really should be the charm.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor is in every way superior to Fallen Order. A real big sequel extremely generous on all levels, which multiplies the novelties. Whether it's in terms of structure, by offering infinitely larger regions than the first opus, or even open worlds that can be explored, or in terms of gameplay. Cal may be an accomplished Jedi from the start, but his rise to power is clear throughout the game. Battles, as well as exploration, benefit from a ton of new features that totally revitalize the recipe and still leave plenty of room for manoeuvre for a possible sequel. The only downside is that Jedi Survivor is so easy on the narrative that it completely undermines the game and its dramatic dimension. Some twists and characters are shoehorned in and also lose some of their beauty. An excellent game that doesn't lack much to be unmissable.

A small but welcome improvement on Fallen Order, that offers little in the way of originality but does have some of the best lightsaber fights and Soulslite action this side of the Outer Rim.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a great continuation of Cal Kestis’ journey. The story is a little predictable and platforming could be sharper, but this is a sequel that builds on the ideas of the original and there’s real enjoyment to be had in exploring the expansive new worlds, digging into the lore and running into secret boss fights.
  90. 80
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds on the foundation established in Fallen Order and delivers expansive environments crammed with content and secrets. Respawn still falls into some of the same pitfalls that it did in Fallen Order, though, namely in its underwhelming linear sections and middling story.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a strong sequel that improves on nearly every core element seen in Fallen Order. Even in spite of some pacing troubles with its story, Cal Kestis is an even more compelling protagonist this time around and continues to be one of the best new Star Wars characters that has come about in the Disney era.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor doesn’t reinvent the formula of Fallen Order and still suffers from some pacing and technical issues like that game did. Still, it’s one of the best single-player Star Wars experiences that I've ever played. The Empire may not be defeated by the end of Survivor, but I enjoyed exploring this beautiful galaxy and watching Cal open up along the way.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a great continuation of this series. It's overflowing with references and other minor beats that each paint a wonderful and thorough picture of A Galaxy Far, Far Away, and the gameplay is simply an improvement of Fallen Order's outstanding formula.

While the action remains reliant on puzzle mechanics that occasionally bog down the main story, improvements across the board – including stunningly deft writing, and a sharp narrative – contribute to a more confident, and wildly more engaging sequel.

It's a shame that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor isn't a little more polished, as it really takes the sheen off this bigger, bolder sequel. The story may take a while to really get going, but once it does, it has some fantastic, explosive scenes that truly make an impact. And while there is some fan-service, it tries to keep it to a minimum. Ultimately, this is a must-play for any Star Wars fan, and it leaves us excited about what's next for Cal Kestis.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order built a solid foundation on which to build a sequel, and Respawn Entertainment has happily obliged. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes what worked in that first game and expands it significantly. It’s bigger, grander and more ambitious, with a few trade-offs.

Despite its lack of polish, indicating a need for further development time, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor represents a significant improvement over its predecessor, particularly in regards to combat and platforming. A huge improvement over its predecessor, also with new gameplay mechanics. While the story of young Jedi and adventure through vast, open fields both delivers captivating moments, slight frame drops here and there on the PS5 version may detract the overall experience.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor occupies a bit of the same niche as Hogwarts Legacy. It's a very attractive game for fans of the license, and it's good enough to appeal to a wider audience, but it doesn't excel in any area. While the graphics are far from state-of-the-art, the animations and art direction are very good. The combat is dynamic and satisfying, with swordplay styles adding a welcome touch of variety, but it's sometimes very poorly balanced, with incomprehensible spikes in difficulty. Its main flaw lies in its world, which is larger than before and had great potential, but was poorly realized. Progression is artificially blocked all the time, and its filling with elements, often without interest, makes exploration too often a source of frustration rather than wonder.

Jedi Survivor is a great Star Wars game with a lot of technical mishaps that really drag it down. The story is excellent, and I loved the characters. The combat still feels good. I just wish the navigation system was better.

With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Respawn has thrown together a lot of cool Star Wars and gameplay ideas and somewhat crampedly made a whole. The result is often nice, but with more caveats than I can put into this conclusion.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a great title hindered by the corporate sickness of releasing unpolished games. It is riddled with performance issues, even on consoles and the strongest of PCs. Despite all of these problems, Survivor is still a masterpiece. It is truly one of the best Star Wars games out there, but given its current state, it would be a good idea to wait until the most glaring issues are solved.

A game that should have been A New Hope turned into Revenge of the Sith. Technical problems and insane FPS drops are something that hampers the experience so much that some parts of the game were almost unplayable. Please fix this glimmer of hope.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is decent fun, but nothing more than that. Respawn lost the charm of the first game, going for "trendy" solutions but executing them in a merely correct way. Instead of betting on a thoughtful development of the formula, Respawn put emphasis on misguided elements that the game didn't need.
  108. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is an improvement on Fallen Order, and while the highs are high, much of the game can feel monotonous or unsatisfying. One thing is certain: Respawn is inching closer than ever to making an excellent Star Wars game.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has everything a Star Wars fan will want - it's an excellent story, and uses classic Star Wars tropes, musical cues, and narrative moments. But if you're not enamoured by a John Williams horn reprise, what you have is a decent adventure game with a vibrant but often annoying open world that you keep being sent back to, that rarely lets you think for yourself and often just doesn't quite work properly. For a story so sharp, it's a shame the game gets in its own way so often.

I don’t know if it’s a credit or an indictment that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s best stuff is entirely ancillary content that doesn’t represent its core gameplay. While all the lightsaber twirling and space magic is serviceable enough, it’s the side corn that appeals most, and it’s not even particularly rich corn. Simply kicking back with NPCs at the cantina, filling its aquarium and customizing its garden, was not only a relaxing break from the main game, it’s what I’d rather be playing. The general jankiness, technical setbacks, and consistently unfinished feeling doesn’t help anything, and I can’t say the huge amount of slow paced platforming is enough to coax one out of the comfort of the saloon either.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor does so much right in continuing Cal Kestis' story, delivering the best lightsaber combat in a game to date along with some huge environments to explore. Sadly it's also launching with a bevy of technical issues and frame-rate problems that will provide the worst experience for early adopters. Players deserve better.

The exploration and platforming is at the best level I've seen in a video game of this style, but in action and combat there is still much to polish, as the game covers too much and ends with a system that is not always accurate. [Recommended]

The sheer scope and content in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor make it easily one of the biggest Star Wars games ever. This sequel largely uses the increased scale and depth to enhance its dramatic storyline and the core gameplay for Cal's adventures. Although this sequel's ambition shows some signs of buckling under its weight, it still manages to strike at the core of why a Star Wars adventure can be so satisfying and fun to immerse yourself in.
  3. Apr 26, 2023
It’s the pacey propulsion of the game’s story that pulls the journey together, though, and keeps its long runtime fresh and exciting the entire way through. There’s a confidence and an assurance in its storytelling direction that simply hasn’t felt apparent in Star Wars of late. It says a lot that, when Survivor ends on a clear nod towards an inevitable threequel, that this could end up being a stronger set of stories than the most recent Hollywood trilogy. At the very least, we’re left actually excited where a Star Wars adventure might go next, rather than worrying if it’s going to deteriorate with each new jump to hyperspace.
  4. Apr 26, 2023
Star Wars: Jedi Survivor remains fundamentally really fun. Cal's platforming skills expand even more, and Jedi: Survivor's set pieces have become even more elaborate. There's a whiff of Force Unleashed at times, with the angsty but wonderfully over the top sense of action and melodrama. It is always enjoyable to ping yourself around runnable walls and ziplines and now grapple hooks (I know) like a human pinball. It is much more desirable that Star Wars games have a little goofiness, from genuinely funny companions like Greeze to the sheer amount of Jedi Suspension of Disbelief you have to harness throughout, than it is that they become too self-serious or stoic. UItimately this is the almost impossible tradeoff Respawn has with Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. Its lack of focus is what holds it back - and also what makes it such a blast.
  5. Apr 26, 2023
All the problems Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has are clearly and unsurprisingly tied to its ridiculous scope. There’s stuff piled on top of stuff, and not all of it feels substantial, fully baked, or in some cases functional. But the foundation Respawn laid in Fallen Order is still here, and everything about Survivor that’s connected really shines. The characters are more fleshed out and their conflicts are compelling and relatable. The level design is appreciably authored in that way that makes “Metroidvania” a stupid-looking word that means so much. And when it comes to combat, there are so many different ways to brutalize droids and Stormtroopers, the combo video community will feast for years to come. It’s a hearty stew, even if you still have to watch the sodium.
  6. Apr 26, 2023
Like how Rogue One (and now, Andor) told a new epic in a familiar universe, Survivor puts on enough of its own spin to feel unique, enhanced by a deeply detailed story and world environments.
  7. Apr 26, 2023
So, did Jedi: Survivor sweep me off my feet? Am I about to introduce him to my mom, and talk about getting a condo? Probably not. For starters, we need to discuss that beard before there’s any talk of moving in together. That said, if he hit me up again for a second date? That’s an easy yes, provided that I’m picking where we go. A healthy relationship is about boundaries, after all.
  8. Apr 26, 2023
Despite our grousing, though, the basic promise of Fallen Order persists here: This is probably the best game available about running around in the Star Wars universe, hitting dudes with lightsabers, and just generally being exactly the Jedi that the title promises. And while Survivor occasionally ascends past this—most notably in a fantastic mid-game sequence that sees Respawn cut back on the open-world elements and pile on the spectacle, sending Cal and his teammates acrobatically, and thrillingly, diving through the air of a canyon on an Empire-beset desert world—the idea we kept coming back to while playing was this: Loving Star Wars has, over the years, become an exercise in accepting that, 90 percent of the time, what you’re going to get is a modestly above-average action-adventure set in a well-textured sci-fi universe. On that score, Jedi: Survivor perfectly fulfils its brief (and then some), and should leave fans thoroughly satisfied.
  9. Apr 26, 2023
So no, Jedi: Survivor isn’t any less derivative than its predecessor, its story is bland, and Cal is still boring as hell. But once again, none of that really matters: this is the closest most of us will ever get to feeling like a Jedi, and at that, the game succeeds. The sequel builds on the original in small ways, without messing up the parts that made it work.
  10. Apr 26, 2023
I like how funny the writing is, especially for the battle droids, who are filled with seemingly endless one-liners mulling over their cursed existence. I like how naturalistic the platforming is, as the game makes a genuine attempt to hide its exploration tells in the environment, rather than spilling yellow paint everywhere. And I always like parrying an enemy four times in a row, breaking their stamina, and going to town with a goddamn glowing energy sword.
