It does not preform anywhere close to acceptable on any console or PC. They promised "BETTER QUALITY GAMES" for $70 - and this game is already proving that is not true. This game will most likely be fixed in a month or two, but the issue is it should run like butter DAY ONE. The games reputation is already tarnished & I hope it stays that way. Because the dev's and EA (whomever's fault it is, idk who) need to be held accountable for this.

I loved Titanfall 2, and being that this is a Respawn game I thought there was a good chance I’d really enjoy this, maybe with the true spirit of Star Wars finally returning after being muddied by so many attempts at reboots by Disney. The last game I liked was “X-Wing versus Tie Fighter”…. anyway, the game has you climbing walls and grappling like spider-man everywhere. There is wall running similar to Titanfall but in the 3rd person. Honestly the parkour and wall climbing stuff is kind of old, and beyond that you’re just slashing away with your lightsaber. The Force abilities are “meh”. If you’re a big Star Wars kid you’ll like this, but otherwise IT IS EXTREMELY OVERRATED, even with all the bugs fixed! Funny thing about bugs these days, as with Cyberpunk 2077, is it takes away from how the game is just an ok-ish game. Expand

Very buggy, ranging from crashes, meny stops working, map markers overlap the fast travel and the balloons you have to place will not be placed; forcing you to reload in combination of a horrible autosave made this a less than enjoyable experience.

Do not under any circumstances attempt the Path of Restoration puzzle on Jedha. The entire geometry of the map shifted after one of the balls got stuck, permanently locking me out of a trophy. While that sucks, the worst part is that since then the entire game has been unstable, popping up invisible walls out of nowhere and flickering throughout the entire geometry to the point I am unsure that my save will not just end up in an even more broken mess. I refuse to start this game over at this point, so it has been a waste of money, and I'd suggest for other people to wait a good while to buy this so that bugs can further be fixed.

WHICH is the GOOD point about the combat system that you can play it hardcore souls like style but you can also play it Bayonetta-button-smashing-style and still can enjoy it, HOWEVER , if you cant stop animations to block or Dodge, then blocking and dodge is useless if your Toon has to finish the animation while the enemy can change its stance twice. So thats been a complete miss compared from the last title. No idea whay they needed to change that.. In the old game , parrying felt good.. it "clicked" when you did it correctly .. But now? i dont even know if it generally works somehow? outside of the tutorial i have never had the feeling that a parry does anything.

Also the story telling is "questionable" especially the environmental crap.. when you first do a rescue mission for a guy you were supposed to climba pilgrims path when you encoutner situations you cant solve with your current arsenal of tricks,, but then you simply remember another trick and hee you go, you can now airdash .. just like this. you have "unlocked" a new ability by just remembering it. and now the entire parcopurs heavily depends on exactky THAT. annoying as frigg. Same on a certain Hulker in a certain swamp..can't move stuff with your force? remeber a scene where Ceres used it and BAM now you can SLAM things with your Force instead of pushing or pulling them. same with the "dash through forcefields" anility of Merrin.. nope now you can , too since she gave you a talisman and a kiss. Yeah..no.

MOST UTTERLY ANNOYING: the game has no mini map (okay thats bearable) but you can also only set beacons in the map and they do not who up in the real world (i thoughts that what beacons were for ?) and the game also does an awfull bad job to tell you where to go. sometimes you simply have to jump "somewhere" to see if there is a gtrapple point popping up somewhere further out "somewhere", to be able to maybe reach it.
    so no.
Plus the many many many nonsensical issues that pop up in the story where the timeline seems to be conflicting. or things that jst dont make any sense like empire stormtroops scattered across a VERY impossible to reach path to the sanctuary - HOW did they get here with no jedi powers?

Gameplay is repetitive and combat uninspired. Platforming feels like a chore. I just don't have any fun playing.
The story is the strong point of the game but if I want story I will get a good SW novel !

The lore and the music of the Star Wars universe is just fantastic but the bugs and glitches are still all over the place and it really breaks the game's pace and immersion. I'm getting constant framerate drops, clipping, popping and textures not loading (I'm playing performance mode). Quality mode is straight up unplayable, I don't even understand why it's the main setting of the game. On the "big red flag side" (especially since the game has been out for almost half a year now), I got crashes and game breaking bugs that forced me to completely restart the playstation. The map who also was a big issue in the first game still is really hard to understand. Lastly, transitions between gameplay in cinematics look awful and clunky wich is really weird because the game itself looks most of the time gorgeous. This game must've been a nightmare to play on release and it really pains me to say this because, bugs aside, it would've been a masterpiece.

Edit: After 100%, I have to drop my score. Way too many crashes and visual glitches. The main planet is not running smoothly at all. I cannot recommend playing the game in its current state. :(

Unfortunately, it's still hard to call it a pleasant gaming experience, and if it weren't such a long-awaited sequel to a game that I deeply liked, I'd prefer to start playing it only a couple of months after.

The combat system, gameplay, size and detail of the world are impressive. Perhaps the only thing in these aspects that was a disappointment, it's a few planets.
Only one or two large and several small ones.
When you travel through this large area at the beginning of the game, you are sure that there will be many different, large, open territories as on this planet, but alas. In fact, this is our main place of action and all other places becomes smaller and smaller.

The other disappointing thing was the plot. It's fine, but it's catastrophically short.
Actually, you'll get really great action, plot twists, cinematic events and story advancement, but in the last 10% of the game.
Except for the first hours of a fairly good story set-up, 90% of the time you will have one single goal, the MacGuffin, the Sacred Land. Information, leads and clues about which you will search for the entire game.
I can’t say that it’s completely bad, because in the process we visit a lot of pretty locations, fight various enemies and, in general, enjoy good gameplay.
But the plot, as such, is simply on pause for most of the game and moves by a bit only occasionally and in the end.

The ending itself left mixed feelings because on the one hand it tries to be complete, but without any final statements, on the other hand it leaves an infinite amount of space for any possible number and type of sequels.

Performance mode is a joke and charging £70 for something as unstable and poor looking as this is nothing short of disgusting. Graphics themselves can look very impressive in certain areas and on specific character models (at times) however the textures and overall look of the game in general is pathetically average for an exclusive next gen title. Blatantly no noticeable improvements over last gen. The story and the protagonist carries this game; as Cal Kestis, a likeable and empathetic character that continues to bring the best out of the series. His commitment as a true jedi and also someone who cares deeply for the relationships with the people around him are consistently at odds with each other, which makes for an intriguing and entertaining dynamic. The story overall is satisfying however, even with its longer length than fallen order, it still manages to feel as though it was cut short. The entire game focuses on reaching a specific location but the payoff to this falls completely short. Twists and turns keep things interesting but mostly occur towards the backend of the story adding to that feeling of an abrupt ending. Combat has been somewhat dulled down in a sense, there are now three more lightsaber stances over fallen order’s two, however, the existing lightsaber stances have been reduced to being less intricate and the new stances are watered down even more so. Frustrating development choices mean only two of the five stances can be equipped at anytime, this leads to players becoming accustomed to the same two stances that they are most proficient with, making the other three completely pointless outside of special narrative circumstances. The planets are a lot less diverse and there aren’t an abundance of locations to choose from. One location is semi open world and where the player will spend arguably 75% of the game. The other locations become increasingly smaller with only one other open location that isn’t even half the size of the first, and multiple small locations (including the final planet) that are even less of the size of the linear locations of fallen order. It’s genuinely a massive back step with the exception of the amazing semi open world location, that breathes new life into the franchise. The new cosmetic system is fantastic and gives the player a sense of input and control of the main character, all cosmetics are implemented into cutscenes and this much needed improvement enhances the experience massively. Overall Jedi survivor is still an impressive title that does truly allow you as Cal Kestis to feel like a Jedi knight, especially when free roaming the open locations picking off droids and stormtroopers, it’s that type of experience that saves this game but other elements hold it back and even go completely in the wrong direction from fallen order. Hopefully these are things that can be improved further in the third instalment. Expand

Combat controls really stiff and no input cancelling. Fighting against hordes of enemies too frustrating because of the constant stun locks and hit staggers from multiple enemies simultaneously. Typical trappings of Ubisoft style open world collectathon, map defogging and icon clearing.

I really miss the days when games used to actually be fun. This game is nothing but frustration. Especially the traversal puzzles in the Force Tears. The devs themselves came out and confirmed that the stupid red scavenger droids that burrow and get away every single time were made on purpose to be frustrating and trolling you. Here is one big middle finger to that!

Not surprised one bit, given it came right out of EA's cesspit. That'll be 70 bucks please.

For a multi million dollar company, can they not afford a proper testing department? It is ridiculous that you can release a game worth $60-£70 these days in this kind of state - the amount of bugs, crashes, frame rate drops is shockingly bad. When these companies are in the testing development stage, why did no one flag these issues? Surely they can see them? 2 weeks and 5 patches later show how bad the game was and still in! People need to stop giving these developers this kind of praise for a broken game!

Combat feels a bit wonky and like a very unpolished version of Dark Souls. The world design is big and pretty, but also very confusing (I don’t think I’ve ever been stuck this many times in a game, simply because finding the correct path to take is a pain). Rewards for doing anything optional in the game, are kind of meaningless. Sure, they listened and made your character and lightsaber more customizable, but… what’s the point? It’s all cosmetic, and there are no gear, weapons or anything that affects gameplay besides stances. When am I ever gonna stop to look at which one of the many similar looking components, I’m using on my lightsaber?! It’s meaningless, unnecessary fluff. But besides these gripes, it’s still a functional, playable video game - it just doesn’t do anything you haven’t already played a million times before, but what it does, it does well enough. Definitely not the worst offender in terms of playing it safe, but not a game that has a unique voice either. Am I alone in being fed up with the standard AAA-formulas we keep being served? I miss the days of creativity in AAA game design. Seems like the indie scene is where all the interesting stuff keeps happening.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the new action adventure game from EA and Respawn (Titanfall, Apex Legends), is an action packed epic filled to the brim with fun new and existing characters that feel right at home in the greater star wars universe. Unfortunately, the game is plagued with almost too many visual bugs to count making the overall experience somewhat mixed.

Survivor picks up 5 years after the events of Fallen Order and we find Cal Kestis as a full on guerilla opposition agent working to undermine the empire. The previous crew of the Mantis has broken up and scattered across the galaxy, leaving Cal feel alone and lost in his struggle against the empire. The story is a very solid Star Wars tale with great characters, interesting twists, and an engaging story arc. Every character in the game feel unique and fleshed out with their own issues, backstories, and agendas.

The game play is similar to Fallen Order, with some new lightsaber stances and force powers mixed in. Overall, I found the combat to be a little too mashy and not as intricate as I would of preferred. I almost exclusively used the blaster stance, which features a lightsaber in one hand and blaster in the other, as it was very useful in picking off enemies at a distance. The platforming is frequent and works very smoothly. My main main issue with the platforming is that there is just too much of it, by the 800th wall run it just felt like a tack on to extend certain gameplay stretches.

My main issue with the actual gameplay is the greater exploration and side activities in the game. There are hundreds of nooks and crannies to explore, rare bosses to find, etc. The game has a real rewards issue for these side activities, they mostly just reward you with new cosmetics for Cal and BD-1. It just isn't very fun or logical for Cal to find a new sideburns haircut, for example, in a treasure chest on a long abandoned and unexplored area of a planet. The game tries to sprinkle in actual rewards like skill points and force meter upgrades but it feels like these happen maybe 5% of the time.

On to the graphical issues, which are so frequent I considered abandoning the game multiple times (I played on a PS5). Performance mode (60fps) features as much screen tearing as I have ever seen in a large Triple A game, you couldn't do a full 180 or 360 turn with Cal without popping and tearing. I tried to push through on this mode because of how muddied the game looks in the 30fps quality mode, but eventually finished the back half on this quality mode. The game looks pretty drab in this mode, the lightsaber colors don't pop, the action doesn't look as fluid, and my game crashed at least 3 times in this mode.

In totality, Survivor is still one of the better Star Wars game out there, and hopefully EA and the Respawn team are able to fix its performance issues in future updates.

It feels like Star Wars should be a pretty adaptable and easy recipe to master, especially when it comes to game design. Give me a lightsaber and make sure the controls feel tight. Seems simple enough on the surface. Instead - like the last game, it feels like a trend chase; western devs who clearly love and admire the works of the likes of FromSoftware, who don't understand what makes those games special or how to capture the satisfying mechanical feel of them.
Hits don't feel impactful, dodging feels way too stiff and imprecise, all the while enemy attacks just seem to have a really heavy pull to you; sliding them across the ground even when you dodge correctly. These are the kinds of issues that were resolved in FromSoft games in like 2011, so it just feels unforgivable at this point.

The writing is as many recent SW outings across TV and film have been: sights and sounds simulators with nothing new or interesting to say. They know that the masses want slop to lap up; seemingly insatiable and rabid fans with an unquenchable hunger for references to some far flung expanded universe book that amount to nothing more than some little freak called Glup Shiddo showing up in the background for them to clap for.
The last actually original feeling SW content was The Last Jedi. Like it or not it actually tried to challenge the status quo of what SW is and could be, while having genuine character arcs that feel resolved and or clearly inbound for a conclusion.

Jedi Survivor picks up with the same lifeless protagonist as it's predecessor, a person with delivery so dry that it's impossible to feel drawn in. The supporting cast - like the first game, has one saving grace in the form of Greez, however he is woefully absent from most of the game, leaving you with a cast that feels like the boring versions of the already insufferable Guardians of the Galaxy.

Just not good. If you see a used copy cheap or a digital sale where it's 60% off, then *maybe* it'll be worth your time, and that's only if you love SW.

I'm not sure what happened with this game. The first episode had good writing, beautiful and versatile environments, enjoyable combat and platform sequences and the Star Wars feeling. Now all of these are lost.

The story feels like a very bad predictable fanfiction with dialogues that feel insulting and are on this level: "You are bad" "Yes I am bad" "Why aren't you good?" "Maybe you are right. I should be good. NO. HAHA. I am bad" *lightsaber clash

The characters are stereotypical, uninteresting, and even Cal became a dreamy robot.

The environments are lacklustre, everything feels like an empty desert. There is empty Coruscant, empty random planet I cannot even remember the name of, the broken moon which in reality is just an uninteresting space base and Jedah, which is a desert. What happened??? We had Kashyyyk, Zeffo, Bracca, all beautiful unique environments...

The platform elements are boring. Jump on wall, run on wall, use a rope. We had these already in the previous episode and in every action platformer game in the past 20 years.

The combat is unbalanced. There are mini bosses that are waaaaay harder than almost any of the big bosses. Which are mostly hit and dodge too, anyways. The stances could be a nice refreshment, but why can I slot only 2 at the same time? Why is there a 2 handed stance where the lightsaber feels like a broadsword? The blade of the lightsaber does not have weight and the weight of the hilt does not change based on how it's held. Illogical ****

And the customization. Ahh. I can change the color and appearance of the lightsaber, Cal, BD who is not even visible most of the time and can have an aquarium and a garden. This feels more than insulting. Why can't we customize the Mantis, intertior, exterior? Customize the interior of the pub... Build a small settlement... Or do anything that feels remotely interesting and meaningful.

Last but not least, the technical part: I had some crashes, a lot of texture popups, slowdowns, etc which probably will be better in a couple of weeks. But the animations are horrible, the characters and mounts seem/feel like ice skating on the ground.
And the game does not seem like a PS5 game. Horizon which was released last year has jaw-dropping environments, animations, lighting, character animations. Compared to that, SWJ:S feels like at least previous generation.

Overall, the whole thing feels like a very bad fan mod or a 5 dollar unofficial DLC.

I keep trying to give it more chances and end up turning off the PlayStation all together because Cal didn’t latch onto a wall or something. I really can not stress enough how awful the combat is. For example I go to take one swing with the light saber, Cal is so slow that I see the enemy start to attack, I press block, but no no, Cal is still stuck on the last move. I take damage, so I just sit there focusing on defense, the enemy has an opening so I attack, enemy moves slightly and Cal misses altogether wasting a force move, now a rocket comes in from the periphery but I can’t force push it because I’m out of force, I get knocked over, meanwhile another enemy jumps on top of me. I try to block again but still Cal is too late. It’s like trying to play an online game but the lag is sooo bad you turn it off. When there are titles out there with amazing gameplay, horizon, assassins creed, nier automata to name a couple examples, heck the Witcher III wild hunt has better combat(or should I say more enjoyable). The story is more subjective, but i found it very weak (and why force the high republic into this ?) with uninteresting plot and characters, the villiains are particulary underwhelming in my opinion. Also writing doesn't help as it feels more like a random marvel movie than real star wars.

Only two real planets to explore (and 4 very small and linear ones) none of them are really interesting besides the two main ones...

Level design is very strange as it feels like the different areas are connected by stuff kinda floating in the air that doesn't really make a lot of sense if you think about it... kills the immersion a bit.

Beside that, gameplay feels pretty good (when the game runs properly) the new stances are fun, the crossguard is pretty badass i have to admit (even if i'm not a fan of the sequels)

There is a lot of customisation, and a lot of items to force you to explore, sometimes it's a bit much, if you're a completionist.

Anyway, even without performance issues, i think Jedi Survivor is not bad, but not a great game either, without i'ts star wars skin it would have been pretty a average game, i played it for the gameplay and the jedi fantasy, but the rest was kinda underwhelming to me.

The game should have been delayed. It’s unfinished and it’s inexcusable that it’s been released in the state it’s in. Game journalists putting out fluff pieces saying things along the lines of “the developers are working tirelessly to fix the game” are really pissing me off, acting like they’re doing this big noble thing for the consumer by doing so when it should have just been finished by purchase day. To make things worse, one of those articles suggested I turn off HDR so it would improve performance. Turn off HDR on my £60 game I’m playing on my £500 PS5. That’s the level we’re at with this now. All of this while what they should actually be doing is holding the company behind it accountable, but of course they won’t want to piss off the wrong people now, do they?

Anyone that has bought this game has bought a broken product and defending it is just enabling big companies like EA to keep doing **** like this to the consumer. I’ve literally seen reviews on here giving it a score of 8-10 even acknowledging the performance issues but accepting it because the name Star Wars is slapped onto it.

To be critical, I’ll give it a 2 in its current state. Combat, gameplay and story are mostly fine even if slightly generic, but it loses 8 because of it being a total mess on launch and I feel cheated into buying a game with that much money behind it when it’s not finished.

Also please remember, that a big company like EA does not need you to white knight for them. A brand like Star Wars does not need you to white knight for them. They’ll do just fine on their own. They don’t care about you, just your money and the more we keep giving it to them and defending them for stuff like this, the less they are ever likely to change.

Dev ripped off a bunch of us by not giving retailers enough pre-order codes. 2 weeks post launch with countless times having reached out to EA and the retailer and still no preorder bonuses on my end. Literally scammy, last time I touch an EA product.

Fun game but glad to be done and moving on to the next one. Expand

One of the game's standout features is its narrative, which delves into the struggles and challenges faced by Jedi who managed to survive the Jedi Purge. The story follows a lone Jedi as they navigate a galaxy under the oppressive rule of the Empire. As players embark on their journey, they encounter diverse characters, face moral dilemmas, and uncover the secrets of their past. The narrative is filled with tension, suspense, and moments of hope, drawing players into a gripping tale of survival against all odds.

The gameplay mechanics in Jedi Survivor offer a mix of intense combat and strategic decision-making. Players engage in lightsaber duels, utilizing a satisfying combat system that captures the elegance and power of wielding a lightsaber. The Force abilities add an extra layer of depth, allowing players to employ telekinesis, Force pushes, and more. The game also incorporates stealth and exploration elements, providing opportunities for players to navigate environments, solve puzzles, and make strategic choices that impact the outcome of the story.

Visually, Jedi Survivor impresses with its attention to detail and stunning environments. From sprawling urban landscapes to treacherous alien worlds, the game's graphics bring the Star Wars universe to life in vivid detail. The character models, including the Jedi protagonist and iconic Star Wars creatures, are beautifully rendered, immersing players in a visually stunning and authentic experience.

The game's soundtrack is another standout aspect, capturing the epic and emotional tones synonymous with the Star Wars franchise. The familiar melodies, along with original compositions, enhance the immersive nature of the gameplay, transporting players into the heart of the Star Wars universe.

While Jedi Survivor excels in many areas, it does have a few minor drawbacks. The game's pacing can sometimes feel uneven, with certain story beats feeling rushed or underdeveloped. Additionally, some players may find the combat mechanics to be slightly repetitive after prolonged play. However, these minor flaws do not significantly detract from the overall enjoyment and immersion offered by the game.

In conclusion, Jedi Survivor provides an enthralling and immersive experience for Star Wars fans and gamers alike. With its compelling narrative, engaging gameplay mechanics, and visually stunning presentation, the game offers a fresh perspective on the aftermath of Order 66 and the indomitable spirit of the Jedi. Despite a few minor shortcomings, Jedi Survivor successfully captures the essence of the Star Wars universe and delivers an exciting journey of resilience and redemption. May the Force be with you as you embark on this thrilling adventure

It's a fun game until you have to perform anything more complex than running. Controls are buggy, movement during jumping is a sh*tshow and I bet you will be dying more during these kind of stuff than in the fights. Speaking of which...the most difficult opponents here are the controls. What a shame!

Either they fix it soon, or it would not be unfair to call the release a scam.

Game is pretty wack IMO. Performance issues, short story, and a boring end boss fight. This is a $40 game that most paid $70 for. I keep hearing "they'll fix the bugs." Got the game 3 weeks after release and already finished that game. Its a lil late. Created a metacritic acct solely to complain about this game.

Huge improvement over the first game. Wish there were more planets to explore, but the combat is fun and story is alright.

You can always count on Star Wars fans to be the absolute worst on the internet, hence all the review bombs.

Jedi: Fallen Order was an amazing experience as a Star Wars fan. The sequel expanded upon and provided a more polished and impressive experience. While I believe the first game had a superior story, Survivor includes the High Republic and I’ve been waiting years for the lore of that era to start being included in projects other than comics and novels. In my opinion the game has a great potential, completely destroyed by the poor performance, low resolution quality. Hopefully big publishers stop delivering not polished games.

Unfortunately one of the worst games I have played this year.
The game Crashes all the time, I lost my savefile 3 times.
The peformance works terrible. The game was bugged for Caij Quest for more than a month.
The gameplay also have major issues.
The only part for me that was good in this game was the Story...

Sadly unplayable, even now months later no performance improvements, constant stuttering, tearing and cant maintain even 30fps on either quality or performance mode. I loved fallen order and from what I've heard the game itself here is an improvement in most ways, its a shame I cant get there because its the most poorly optimised game I've ever played.

August 2023 and despite the patches, this is still the buggiest game I've ever played ss it crashes all the time which is really annoying. The game is OK but if I'd known it would perform this poorly I would never have paid for it. A real let down.

Sometimes uneven, often wondrous, Survivor is bombastic and joyous, though it feels like a middle child in search of a trilogy ending. May the Force be with it. [Issue#28, p.72]

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a much bigger game than before, with plenty of new moves, collectibles and characters to discover. The size of its open-world maps means it also lacks some of the variety of its predecessor, but there is so much to see and do that you'll likely not care one jot. Perhaps the most impressive aspect is how well fleshed-out the adventure is - better even than many of the TV series and films on which it is based. This is a blockbuster in the truest sense.
