    I've been a Sonic fan since Sonic Adventure 1 and I can finally say I'm proud to be a Sonic fan again. Now this game isn't perfect, it has some flaws in areas, but nothing so outlandish that it ruins the experience like many past titles.

    Combat is fun and fluid, exploration and map expansion is satisfying and the cyberspace stages honestly grew on me the more I played of them.     Combat is fun and fluid, exploration and map expansion is satisfying and the cyberspace stages honestly grew on me the more I played of them. They're very fun to speedrun.

    The world, lore and story are the most fleshed out and interesting we've seen in a Sonic game in almost 2 decades. It's so nice to have a proper expansion on the lore the fandom holds so dear.

    The music... Oh my god the music. Yes.

    Really fantastic time. Definitely recommend.

    The ending left a bit to be desired. It feels like they ran out of budget/time towards the end, but it's forgivable cause of just how fun the core experience is. Hopefully we'll get an expansion or DLC down the road or something. Would love that.

It is easily the best 3D Sonic game since Sonic Generations.

    Pros:
    1. Very snappy/responsive controls, even when Sonic is going fast. It is clear that Sonic Team has put in the work to fine tune the controls for 3D Sonic.

    2. The 60 fps frame-rate is buttery smooth and load times are extremely fast for the PS5.

    3. The story is probably the best Sonic game story since Sonic Adventure 2. Don't expect Mass Effect level storytelling, but for a Sonic game is surprisingly good.

    4. The fun factor for this game is off the charts. It is so much fun blasting around at top speeds and chaining together movement across springs, rails, boosters, etc. Since I have got Sonic to Level 99 speed, I have spent a ton of time just blasting around the open environments. I can't think of another open world (open zone) game that allows you to blaze through environments at speeds like this.

    5. I really enjoyed the sprinkling in of 2D sections, both in the open world and the Cyberspace levels. It gave a nostalgic feel to Sonic hearkening back to the classic 2D era. Also, platforming in 2D is different than platforming in 3D so it helped add variety that way. I genuinely don't understand the criticism of the 2D sections in this game, they were a lot of fun.

    6. Speaking of Cyberspace stages, they were a great add-on to the game and helped add variety to the game outside of the open zone gameplay. Sonic Team should absolutely keep these types of levels in their future "open zone" Sonic games.

    7. The graphics are very good, not Horizon Zero Dawn level, but it looked great running through these environments. I also appreciated the addition of what I'd call "mini-biomes" within each open zone. Without giving too much away, you will find oasis, wetlands, waterfalls, lakes, forests, fields of flowers, etc. sprinkled throughout these open zones. I hope Sonic Team continues add these types of mini-biomes within their open worlds in future games.

    8. I thought the RPG elements were excellent, and the way they are utilized it encouraged you to explore the open zones to obtain Koko and other power-ups to increase Sonic's speed, attack, defense and max ring count. I found myself searching around every nook and cranny in the open world to find Koko so I could max out Sonic's speed. The way they meshed together the RPG elements and exploration of the open zone is great, and I hope they continue to do that.

    9. The combat is pretty fun. I enjoyed the added move-sets and combos that Sonic can utilize to bash apart enemies and bosses. It isn't particularly challenging, even on Hard mode, but this is a Sonic game, not Dark Souls. The focus is on speed and fun, not chucking your controller into the TV because a particular boss pummeled you into the dirt for a 20th straight time.

    10. The fishing mini-game was a lot of fun, and with the Cyberspace stages was a nice way to add variety to the game. The addition of a Fishopedia and Eggman tapes was great too. In the future, it would be nice to see the fishing mini-game have its own biome. How about a fishing zone in Aquatic Ruin Zone from Sonic 2 (Sega Genesis).

    Cons:
    1. Some of the mini-bosses and Titan bosses can be a bit tedious, especially with the controls, but luckily this is more of a minor nuisance and isn't game breaking.

    2. On some minor occasions, Sonic's controls won't necessarily respond. Such as when boosting Sonic comes to a instant stop even though there is no object in his way, or you hit a wall for a wall jump but Sonic just falls off for no reason. Again, minor nuisances that don't occur often and not game breaking.

    3. No Photo Mode. My God, these types of Sonic games need a photo mode. A nice added feature of a photo mode too would be the option to remove the rails, springs, and other artificial objects so you can get a nice scenic photo/screenshot without the clutter.

    4. This is subjective, but I didn't enjoy the blocky cyberspace background in the Cyberspace Stages. Part of the fun of Sonic games is speeding through environments with the natural scenery in the background. I know there is a story element to why it is there, but Sonic Team needs to take these types of backgrounds and nuke it to the moon. It detracts away from the experience.

    5. Stop reusing Green Hill and Sky Sanctuary for the billionth time. Don't get me wrong, I love the hearkening back to classic Sonic levels, but there are so many out there to bring into the modern era. How about reviving Emerald Hill, Aquatic Ruin,Starlight Zone, Mystic Cave, etc.    … Expand

    It's almost the ultimate Sonic title. The controls need some work such as jumping. Cyber Space stages could have been more original, and more variety. Open Zone genuinely does feel empty at points. There isn't much to do outside of the story, cyber space, big fishing, and fighting. It may sound like a good amount of things to do, but it starts becoming a routine quickly, and even in postIt's almost the ultimate Sonic title. The controls need some work such as jumping.     I'm not great at reviewing but god damm was this game fun. It's not the greatest and it's a but janky with some **** pop in but it's overall pretty good. One of the best Sonic games these past several years. The gameplay, music, story, etc are all something to praise.

    The best Sonic game in a decade. Fun open zone gameplay always keeps you engaged. While the game has some issues in the bosses, the last act looking the same as Kronos, and mediocre cyberspace it is still a very fun time.

    Love this open zone sonic games, lots of fun and just what Sega needed to do. I note a percentage of expert reviews who have rated it down just because it's sonic. It's laughable otherwise this gets a metacritic score of 8

    This is arguably the best step in the right direction Sonic can take. Sonic has managed to reinvent himself in an amazing way. Everything about it feels so fresh, right down to the character development that everyone gets. Even Eggman ends up coming off as relateable, especially with the Egg Memos you can get through fishing(and the fishing is actually fun now!!).

The islands are fun to traverse, Sonic controls very fluidly and fun, the cyberspace stages, while uninspired, are fun enough, and the bosses are engaging. Hopefully the next couple of games go even further with this new formula! Ian’s writing isVery solid start to the next era of Sonic!     Sure there is popping if you have an open zone game where the protagonist runs at a very high speed. However, this game surprised me. It is so fun and relaxing. Sure it has simple mechanics in some situations, but it keeps the essence clear of what it is Sonic. Hope this is the beginning of something great for the blue hedgehog.

    Sonic Frontiers is a game that we all thought would suck. But I am pleased to be wrong. To make this short, all the good heavily outweighs any bad in this game. Not perfect, but a damn fun game to play. Sad there's no post-game stuff. The OST is heavenly. Cyberspace levels feel a little jank compared to past sonic games. The open world is fun to explore and feels great. The story was greatSonic Frontiers is a game that we all thought would suck. But I am pleased to be wrong. To make this short, all the good heavily outweighs any bad in this game. Not perfect, but a damn fun game to play. Sad there's no post-game stuff. The OST is heavenly.     Easily the best 3D Sonic game to come out since Generations. Not perfect by any means with the consistent pop in being one of the biggest flaws but still had an absolute blast playing it. The writing is so much better and is a breath of fresh air as the characters feel more authentic again. Definitely a step in the right direction for what can come for Sonic in the future.

    Sonic Frontiers is not perfect, but it's so, so much fun and has made me grin with excitement multiple times already 6 hours in. It's really just such a fun and engaging game, I cannot recommend it enough. "Open Zones" are a fantastic and well executed idea, especially with how perfectly they tied the boss fights into the concept. I really hope this is the future of the Sonic series.

    I loved the game, the combination of speed with an open world is a great combination, the only problema i had was with Sonic's Physics on Cyberspace levels, and theres no way to replay the Boss battles unless creatining a New save file, but other than that, the game os Good,

    Very very good Sonic game. There are some rough spots here, and there but I dont really care that much because of how much fun Ive had with it. Probably the most fun I've had since Generations. Really hope Sega, and Sonic Team keep up with this direction, and refine it, because they really have something special here.

    Probably the best Sonic game i’ve ever played, was not fan of the series especially the 2D games but (Unpopular Opinion Warning) loved what Sonic 06 brought into the series (apart the technical issues there) and while Frontiers is different, i enjoyed it as much! This type of open world mixed with more classic levels its a really nice match for Sonic. Wouldn’t say    PS5 - 21 Hours

    I also appreciated the short levels a lot more compared to Forces. These felt way more interesting, especially visually speaking, I only wish these linear stages could be a bit longer.

    The boss battles are a hype train, the music choice for them is incredibly fitting, I wish there were more of these.

The gameplay loops are fun, the combination of old and new are nicely blended, and the open world is surprisingly exciting to explore.     The open zones are big and empty, the entire thing feels lonely. The rest of the game is absolutely great though. The missions are fun, and you really have to earn a perfect score.

El árbol de habilidades de Sonic es pequeño pero bien implementado. La historia habla por sí sola, trata temas muy interesantes y perfecciona el desarrollo de algunos personajes (Tails el más notable). Las batallas contra los titanes de cada zona son buenísimas y cada una es distinta, es muy divertido controlar a Super Sonic y luchar contra los titanes.     Never was a fan of Sonic, but this game is excellent. Insane dynamic blend of so many gameplay mechanics in open world that is happening so rarely. Strangely reminding me of Returnal action game due to fast pace and cool atmosphere.

    This game is a good step in the right direction for the series. It has a great story, fun open zones with lots to do, Cyberspace while very flawed is still fun imo, fantastic combat, and it has the best boss battles in the series. Sad people will still go out of their way to hate and meme on the blue blur but that was bound to happen regardless of this games quality.

    The best way to describe it is Breath of the Wild but with Sonic. If you liked that and you like Sonic, you’ll love this! Deserves a higher rating

    negatives: lots of pop in and it can be jarring. The story is not great and is pretty confusing like a kingdom hearts game. Pros: Huge environment s for sonic to run around. Fun combat with variety in moves and enemies. Well done boss battles. Great platforming throughout the game. Cyber levels are a blast are a nice change of pace from open world. Fishing    I'll keep this short and sweet.

    Il mio voto è un 8 momentamente. Il gameplay è molto bello ho platinato. Esorto Sega e Il Sonic Team a più patch correttive. Al momento le aggiunte della Jukebox e della modalità foto è un ottima aggiunta per arricchire Sonic Frontiers. Ma la modalità delle boss fight a tempo non è riuscita come si deve un notevole calo di framerate. Mentre la modalità Cyberspazio è ben riuscita. Chiedo alIl mio voto è un 8 momentamente. Poi arriverà una quarta e ultima recensione. Spero che aggiungano tanti DLC Estetici sulla mappa di gioco e nuovo abbigliamento per Sonic. BUT: awesome atmosphere (a bit melancholic) with great music score and lonely feeling worlds (just a bit like the NieR games). Well, the graphics are certainly not current gen (i think not even 60FPS on PS5 and XSX), but gameplay and exploration compensate. A well hidden gem and certainly anyUnexpected and raw diamond!     Sonic Frontiers is fun - sue me. But is it polished? No. Just like my shoes. But man… running through the open world is super fun! The story is really good! The characters are back to the way they’ve been before; just like my shoes!

    it's the game Sonic needed. I don't understand the score of the press reviews. It may have some minor technical issues, I guess due to limitations of the graphics engine, but it doesn't lose the essence of Sonic. 100% addictive, motivates you to do 100% of the game in a relaxed and calm way. A good way to face the future of Sonics 3D, different from a Sonic adventure.

    The gameplay, music, bosses and open world design are great, and the plot is the most interesting one since Sonic Unleashed, and also the estetic of the open zones remembered me playing Sonic Adventure and Unleashed.
    It lacks on the final boss, which is dissapointing, and sometimes upgrading the habilities tends to be really easy when you find out that big the cat and the cyloop give you skill points. And sometimes the cyberspce phisics tends to be weird to control, but you can get used to.

    While it isn’t perfect, the game has jank and lacks polish in some areas, keeping cyberspace for high speed modern sonic action and doing away with needless gimmicks that aren’t played after game completion, it instead has a fun albeit    Open ended, with excellent controls and far more improved writing, Sonic Frontiers feels more like a collectathon than a Zelda clone, and it’s awesome.

    While it isn’t perfect, the game has jank and lacks polish in some areas, keeping cyberspace for high speed modern sonic action and doing away with needless gimmicks that aren’t played after game completion, it instead has a fun albeit very easy combat system. The new controls allow for more freedom, and the speak of this being the “next generation of sonic” is, ultimately, an amazing sign of what’s to come.

    What this game lacks is longer cyberspace levels, with more speed, and perhaps more reason to collect all the tokens found. There’s a lot to collect but very little reason to get everything outside of trophies or pride. I would suggest more varied locations, and more revised and expressive cutscenes.

    Overall - Sonic Frontiers is an excellent foundation of what needs to be built upon and perfected for the future of sonic. The future is very bright!    … Expand

    While not perfect, like the platforming challenges not being natural in the Open Zones, or no ability to play the Titans fights again, Frontiers is an exciting step forward, and more than solid foundation for the future. 2022 has been kind to Sonic, and Frontiers helps push the narrative that, yes, Sonic is back.

    If I was to give this a fair score, it would be around a 8/10. But as someone who has grown with this series, the call-backs, evolution and more found in Frontiers, it reaches a 9. It's not a master piece, but it is a special game that I feel will be loved in the future if Sonic Team continues with this new formula. This game will walk, so the others can run.    … Expand

    Bueno tras 11 horas de juego, puedo decir que el juego me esta gustando bastante:
    - La historia tiene buena pinta
    - Las peleas me gustan bastantes - Musica maravillosa -Bastantes referencias para los que somos fans del erizo - Bastantes cosas que hacer si quieres tener todo al 100% - Buena duración del juego 11 horas y aun sigo en la segunda isla (Bueno mas que forces iba a durar seguro xd    Bueno tras 11 horas de juego, puedo decir que el juego me esta gustando bastante:

    - Musica maravillosa

    Pero obviamente el juego no es perfecto:

    - Tiene bastante popping la verdad, normalmente no es tan molesto pero me han llegado a aparecer estructuras en la cara de forma muy bestia como 2/3 veces y es un poco wtf.
    - En mi caso sitios con bastantes cosas en pantalla como en el "bosque" de la primera isla hay bajadas de 5-10 fps a veces.

    Espero que este sea el camino que lleve la franquincia en los proximos años, como ya he dicho el juego no es perfecto pero esta batante bien para empezar esta nueva era del erizo azul.

    Por ahora le pondria de nota 7,5/10.
    Cuando me termine el juego a lo mejor cambio de opinión respecto a la nota.

    Pues eso ha sido mi tercera "reseña" hecha en mi vida. No soy de hacer estas cosas xd

    100% Gesammelt und alles mit S Rang abgeschlossen.
    Dabei kam eine Spielzeit von 33std rum.
    Ich hatte sehr viel Spaß mit dem Spiel.
    Mich hat es am ende sehr traurig gestimmt das man endlich Maria mal kennen lernt, die Tochter von Dr Eggman.
    Nach 25 Jahren lassen die bei Sega die Hosen runter.
    Also war Shadow immer auf der suche nach Eggmans Tochter?
    Und bevor man es auf sich wirken lassen kann ist sie schon wieder für immer zurück.
    Und Eggman sichtlich getroffen davon.
    Der hat mir sehr leid getan.
    Ich hoffe Sega hält das Konzept bei so Sonic Spiele zu Design.
    Sonic Frontiers als Fundament für zukünftige Spiele und das kann nich richtig geil werden für alle Sonic Fans.

En cuanto a la banda sonora, como era de esperar en un juego de sonic, es sencillamente casi perfecta, en cuanto a detalles sonoros, es muy comodo escuchar las acciones de Sonic en este mundo abierto, que tiene un diseño de nivel increible.     The new concept of open area is great for Sonic, and the story returns to the origins of the Adventure era, something that was sorely missed in the saga. The cyberspace levels at the end become addictive to get the S rank and all the extras. From here, I have a lot of hope for the next games to come and this Frontiers does not disappoint.

    The first Sonic I've played from start to finish, and it was quite a treat. Fun, gameplay is easy-to-learn, some challenging puzzles, and original soundtrack is out of this world (one of the best video game soundtracks I've heard). The story is also a compelling and emotional one - was pleasant surprised at the relationship between two characters.

The music is obviously perfect since its a sonic game and the titan boss fights is the best super sonic experience we've had in any sonic game. The combat is surprisingly fun,This is far and away the best 3D Sonic game since Generations back in 2011. While many claim the game is just "Breath Of The Wild" with Sonic, the game stands on its own and proves that Sonic still has some untapped potential. The new "Open Zone" format works wonders for giving new life to a series that's been using the Boost formula for more than a decade. The combat is surprisingly fun, and I found leveling Sonic up to be very satisfying. The puzzles, while simple, are a great way to progress through the worlds and unlock more of the map. They're basically just Mario Party minigames. My only real complaint with the game is that the cyberspace levels can be a bit tedious at points, but even then, I loved going for new high scores and collecting all of the vault keys. But the highlight of the game for me is the music and the insane boss battles! "Undefeatable, "Break Through It All", and "Find Your Flame" are some of the best pieces of Sonic music in the entire series, the latter of which is currently ranked as my favorite song from the Sonic franchise. Seriously, "Find Your Flame" is on the same level as the Metal Gear Rising OST. Lastly, the story actually had me intrigued. I loved learning about the Coco species and Sage is one of the best debut characters for the franchise in a long time. Overall, I'm excited to see where Sonic's future is heading!… Expand

None of the quest are like what the journalists say, it’s not Ubisoft like. All of the collectibles are just here to encourage you to play the game. Fight the enemies, do the steps and you’ll seeSonic Frontiers is an excellent game. The best 3D Sonic I ever played.     -Give the game more budget
    -Fix the technical issues -Upgrade the pacing of the story telling and the cinematics
    -Don’t use the same mini game to reaver the map twice. Like in Mario 3D World, you won’t find the same gimmick twice. They should try to accomplish a similar thing.
    -Upgrade Sonic Controls
    -Remove 2D courses -Change the theme of the courses. Explore something else.

Sonic also controls really well in the open zone as well, better than the rubbish, slippery controls of sonic forces, the last mainline sonic game.
    the story in this game is more serious and has a more sombre, calmer and darker tone, which is a huge breath of fresh air from the childish, light-hearted stories we've had since Sonic colours. It is great and the best since Sonic unleashed.
    Then there's cyberspace, which can be accessed through portals scattered around the Starfall islands. These levels are great fun and have 4 objectives for each one of them which ads some replicability to the game. However, there are a few small issues with them such as, sonic being very slow even while boosting, (though there is a reason for it) and the fact that there are only 4 level themes. (greenhill, chemical plant, sky sanctuary and a city setting). they really should have added at least 3-4 more themes to occupy the 30 cyberspace levels and not reused greenhill and chemical plant (as they have come back way too many times and it is now tiering to see them again). there are plenty of other old themes they could have given us, such as, Kingdom Valley (sonic 2006), Icecap zone (Sonic 3&k), The aquarium park (Sonic colours) and jungle joyride (sonic unleashed). hopefully, in the future, Sonic team will give us more cyberspace levels with new, different themes, as dlc.
    Overll though these issues don't make this game any less good. The soundtrack is also absolutely fire!
    Sonic is back and it great. welcome to the next era of sonic. or rather, as it is looking like it, the second dark era of sonic. This game is not as good as Sonic unleashed (because that game really is the best in my opinion), but it's still a gem, and I hugely recommend people give it a go.    … Expand

    Los análisis y vídeos que encontraba por ahí, eran muy contradictorios o ponían el juego muy bien o muy mal.
    Tras jugar bastantes horas al juego solo tengo que decir un par de cosas.
    * Si, el juego no es perfecto, tiene algunos fallos gráficos que no son propios de la actualidad
    * También es verdad que tiene cosas que se podrían mejorar y a lo mejor anda algo falto de contenido. (podría volverse repetitivo con el tiempo)
    * Pero. y es un gran pero. Si te gusta Sonic y este juego te llamo la atención, no lo dudes. Es un juego muy divertido, con una historia muy interesante y bien explicada. Y sobre todo lleno de horas de entretenimiento para aquellos jugadores que le gusta sacar el 100% y conseguir todos los coleccionables.

    Estoy seguro que el Team Sonic, tomará nota y en futuras entregas mejorara muchas cosas. Pero ahora mismo esto para mi es uno de mis imprescindibles del año. Un juego con el que estoy disfrutando como un niño. Y probablemente una de las mejores compras que he podido hacer en 2022    … Expand

    La verdad que un juegazo!
    En el apartado sonoro muy interesante, con un repertorio bastante amplios de temas tanto chill como heavy metal.
    En cuestión gráfica, mucho mejor que Sonic Forces y la verdad que tiene un estilo artístico buenísimo.

    Desde Sonic Unleashed que no me divertía tanto con un juego de Sonic, es simplemente increíble el mundo abierto, hay muchas cosas que hacer en cada una de islas como resolver distintos acertijos, pelear con una gran variedad de enemigos y descubrir los secretos que ocultan estas misteriosas islas. Algo que me encantó es que vuelvan a respetar a los personajes de la franquicia, me recuerda mucho a los adventure, donde estaban bien escritos y cumplian un rol importante en la historia.     Honestly, not the best Sonic game, but for sure a really great one nonetheless. It's been awhile since a 3D Sonic game actually had me zoned out and focused on it. While this doesn't have the exactly what I'm looking for from Sonic, it's still better than the silly stuff that he's been involved in.
    The gameplay is lit; Can be addicting to just zoom around and explore.

    The game elevates sonic the hedgehog by mixing up its formula, he's now in an open world and sonic team has done an awesome job doing it, story is great too! It has its issues but a great game nonetheless!

    Sonic Frontiers feels fleshed out, like Sonic Team has finally found out what they want and how their going to do it. The combat is fun, appeasing to look at, and feels like your doing something instead of hitting the homing attack button over and over again. Ian Flynn writing the story gives all the characters such a more fleshed out appearance, and keeping the story closely knit. EachSonic Frontiers feels fleshed out, like Sonic Team has finally found out what they want and how their going to do it. The combat is fun, appeasing to look at, and feels like your doing something instead of hitting the homing attack button over and over again. Ian Flynn writing the story gives all the characters such a more fleshed out appearance, and keeping the story closely knit. Each Titan fight feels on par with previous games final bosses, and the final boss is a rush of emotions.     -Level design, the open world design is entertaining and effective. Personally the world seems to me a mixture of the one of zelda botw but adapted to sonic and elements of the saga.

    -Story: I haven't finished it but I can tell you that when the moment is serious the characters act according to their personality and not according to the personality of a clown like in forces for example.

    BAD POINTS
    -Popping is present and noticeable, not as much as in the trailers but it's there even with the graphics at MAX. This could be solved with an option to adjust the draw distance.
    -Some textures and a few shadows are weak even on full graphics But this can only be seen in the scenes    … Expand

    Una nueva etapa para el erizo a Sido definida gracias a este título, pese a sus problemas de rendimiento no logra tirar por la borda lo demás; un control divertido y cómodo, una historia interesante y que te hace sentir que por fin el Canon se mueve hacia alguna parte, y esos momentos de epicidad característicos... Sin dudas este es un nuevo comienzo para Sonic

    the best sonic game since mania, tight controls (in the open world), fun combat, cool platforming, my only complaint are the cyberspace controls which feel kinda off but you will get used to them.

That's not the best result that can be reached, but this C is an achievement for that kid, and if we don't praise this achievement now and just start emphasizing the flaws alone, the kid won't see any point in reaching new heights.

    That's what Sonic Frontiers is for Sonic Team right now. It is a C (possibly even a B), but this is finally a good Sonic game that explores and expands the universe's lore, dives into characters and their thoughts, and brings a fun gameplay cycle you don't want to break for a rest. Sonic is not a meme, and this series doesn't have to do what Mario, Crash, or Spyro do — let Sonic be what he is good at, let him be a shonen for teens and young adults mixed with Nier, MGR, Devil May Cry, and Shadow of the Colossus, and just enjoy what he brings. Admiring Sonic Frontiers is a decent game won't bring you shame, and this is more valuable than trying to pretend the franchise is a constant joke.

    It took me about 25 hours to beat the game, and I want to spend more in it, for the fighting can be really challenging and complex, traversing brings the feeling of excitement, and following the mystical story with no sarcasm in soul is no doubt interesting.    … Expand

    While the game has its rough edges, specially in the technical deparment, the game is clearly a very good direction for Sonic Games, I always thought that Cyberspace would be the thing I like the most and for my surprise, it isnt. I don't like the way they made Cyberspace levels because Sonic feels very heavy. Like in Forces. But the open world is amazing.     There is nothing remotely redeeming about this game. Nothing that even the most die-hard loyal Sonic Fans would or should advocate for. I hope that one day someone who cares enough about this franchise could give us something-anything of substance. A fan can hope, can’t they? A fan can hope.

    Finally, after almost 25years of half measures and mostly mediocre titles, Sonic has finally reached the 3D levels of gameplay it needed to reach. Yes, the pop in is absolutely inexcusable and the ancient gatekeeping grindy methods damage the flow of the game for no reason, but a wonderfully built base exists here, with a highly entertaining adventure in wonderfully melancholic world and a surprisingly well founded story, thankfully clean of Sonic’s annoying 3rd tier friends!
