    Hits all the right marks for a franchise which had previously struggled to find success in story telling and engaging 360 degree gameplay. A memorably experience and will go down as a classic in the sonic fandom.

    It is loads of fun despite being repetitious. However, there is plenty of stuff to break up the repetition like small character interactions, mini boss fights, fishing, and cyberspace. Which leads me to the worst part of the game. The cyberspace levels are not needed in this game and honestly feel like a chore to do.     and turned out to be REALLY interesting and brought me and other people back to the same passion for Sonic that disappeared in the last decade.

    Probably the most addictive, sometimes satisfying, well-balanced gameplay between a dynamic and meditative sequence. The combat is alright, cyberspaces sometimes get boring, the music is one of the most powerful in Sonic franchise, also the same words goes to the bosses, they are so lit and brutal, never have been expected to play THIS kind of Sonic game. Probably didn’t like the sometimes abrupt change of camera to 2D in open zones, boring platforming sections, the feeling of common emptiness, sudden FPS drops and the retail price. Also did not expected the insert of comics characters in the mainline story and the final boss gameplay, it's just awkward. The story narration is finally turned out to be interesting, the characters seems to be more mature and finally started to being like old themselves with the really interesting interactions with each other, but sometimes the main storyline and lore can get very very WTF not in the good way. Well, in general, I can say that the game left an incredibly positive impression about a Sonic game and i really hope that the series will go on in the same direction but with some major improvings on the way. I really hope that Sonic will stay enough long to end not in a rough, sad way.    … Expand

    Without a doubt, one of the best Sonic experiences I've played so far, a little janky at times, but it doesn't detract from my enjoyment traversing through the islands. And the combat truly sets a new standard for Sonic from now on.

    An amazing start to a new direction for the series. Fun gameplay with amazing bosses. The characters are finally written well and the story is taking a serious but still fun in some places gone the series should be. I hope they continue to make this direction and improve on its style going forward.

    This game is a welcome surprise. Its like Elden Ring, Botw and Sonic combined into a great exploratory experience. The atmosphere is bleak and stoic like Elden Ring, the puzzles are like toned down Botw ones, the levels hidden in the world are apex 3D Sonic speed levels. I can't get over how much I'm enjoying this. I was hesitant in believing that Sonic Team could make a good open worldThis game is a welcome surprise.     Absolutely one of the best Sonic Games to date. The Gameplay is Super Addicting and Fun! The Music is absolutely beautiful, and Graphics as well. Animations are really good! Story is Phenomenal! This is an easy 10/10 game.

    The game isn’t perfect, but every game has flaws and this game isn’t short of its, but it’s fun, the story is enjoyable, the characters are relevant again, sonic controls amazingly.

    I want sega to continue down this path with sonic, This, is the sonic game I have been waiting for, and I never thought I would say this, but sonic has found it, this, this is it.

The last two island were a little bit disappointing but very enjoyable. All of the bosses are insane, the open zone seems empty but is very well made and cyberspace isn’t that bad.     This game is simply amazing. I never had this much fun with a sonic game since unleashed 14 years ago. This is the best 3d sonic game ever. The combat is fun, the world is beautiful and the exploration never felt boring. The bosses are the best in the series. The music is top notch. The story reminds me of the 2000's a lot (in a good way) and the dialogue and characterization are perfect.This game is simply amazing.     Overall this is a very good Sonic game, the best since Unleashed and Generations, Sonic controls AWESOME in the open zones, I also love the DropDash incorporation ( The best feeling of being in control of the character of all the games in the franchise ) and it’s very satisfying upgrading Sonic stats, the combat is really good, the exploration, and I love that the game let you change SonicOverall this is a very good Sonic game, the best since Unleashed and Generations, Sonic controls AWESOME in the open zones, I also love the DropDash incorporation ( The best feeling of being in control of the character of all the games in the franchise ) and it’s very satisfying upgrading Sonic stats, the combat is really good, the exploration, and I love that the game let you change Sonic acceleration, turning speed, boost speed, and more, I love the customization in that way, the history of this game is really really good, Ian is the best, the only thing that I don’t like it’s the reused assets from cyberspace, Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and Sky Santuary, and the physics in the Cyberspace levels, I’m loving this new generation of Sonic games!

    Amazing return to form. Exploring the open world as sonic is so much fun. The world provides you with plenty to discover and getting from place to place is fun and fast. Some technical issues like pop in and sonic not interacting with the terrain very smothly at times and the controls in cybersoace are not good. But the game nails pretty much everything else.

    The trick system while airborne is satisfying
    The combat, while simple, is fast paced and feels good.
    The story respects older fans of the Adventure games with many references as well as characterization similar to Adventure 1 and 2.
    More varied routes in the cyberspace levels which reminded me of the Sonic stages in Adventure 2.
    The soundtrack is excellent, as usual.

    Cons:
    Some of the puzzles exist just to fill the world with something to do, which would sound like a good thing but these puzzles (just a couple of them) feel like they weren’t thought out very much.
    Some of the animation is slightly janky, with the worst probably being the opening cutscene almost looking like a fan-made animation.
    The advertisements for the game were filled with outstanding looking CGI cutscenes, but those same moments were replaced with in-game cutscenes that were nowhere as good looking. Many Sonic games have CGI cutscenes sprinkled in which led me to believe that would happen again.

    My criticisms are for the most part just nitpicks, and the good heavily outweighs the bad. I appreciate Sonic Team for thoughtfully making a game that took the older fans into mind, and I love it. 9/10    … Expand

    I'm not generally a Sonic player, but I figured i'd give this one a shot and i've been loving it. The outdoor zones are not the most visually stunning but they make up for it with how jam packed they are with collectibles. The cyber levels are great across the board, and though the story is kinda nonsensical it's got heart. The boss fight music rocks and there's some great set pieces.I'm not generally a Sonic player, but I figured i'd give this one a shot and i've been loving it.     this game is in the top 3 of my favorite games ever The influence of the fans in the franchise is noticeable, definitely one of the best Sonic in 3D
    Everyone should give it a try, even if your only option is a Nintendo Switch.
    The biggest problem of the game must be the pop in, but after a while playing you don't even notice it anymore, obviously it can be better, but it's still not annoying

    THIS IS THE BEST SONIC GAME IN SONIC SERIES!! The open world design is far great! And bosses is pretty good! And cyberspace...is not that bad but it's fun as hell if you speedrun! And this is my top 5! 10/10.

The boss battles are epic with a soundtrack that goes hard. I wish there was a little more polish. The cyberspace levels are too clunky and slow to control sadly.     Clearly this is one of the best sonic games. The sonic team has finally found the formula for Sonic 3D.
    It is not a 10 for technical problems (popping), this bothers a bit when playing. If they had solved this problem the game would be a 10.
    The best of the game? in my opinion the experience when playing with SUPER SONIC.
    I love you SEGA and Sonic TEAM

    - Memorable characters and their interactions
    - Beautiful Soundtrack
    - A story of which I care - Levels that are jumpy and fast - Badass bosses Certainly it is not perfect, but this new direction promises for the future.

    Its so Refreshing to play Frontiers.

    The Quality of the game is actually very good on the switch (though scaled back) it runs Well enough for you to play through the entire game with little to no problems.

    Tomoya Ohtani once again Popped off with the soundtrack.

    The story, the interactions, EVERYTHING.

    Its a Must have for any sonic fan.

    You can tell this game has passion put into it, it may look weird, but it shows, so much, they did all they could and they knocked it out of the park, specially wiht the Open Zone AND those Super Sonic boss fights. Sonic is back baby

But I truly enjoyed the game from start to finish. Exploring the islands, collecting the chaos emeralds, finding memory tokens, fishing, and fighting the bosses as Super Sonic were all enjoyable to play. Music is one of the best in the series as well. If you like Sonic, I’d recommend you to play this game.… Expand

The story is also extremely good, and the characters have finally been given the chance to fully shine since Black Knight. It's so good to see Sonic back in the spotlight after so long.     Sonic Frontiers this and will always be among my favorite games not only of Sonic but of my life, I loved the combat, the speed, the new changes in the gameplay and the story and soundtrack, simply amazing 10/10.

    An unreal experience, you have to turn speed and all other options up to 100 and play on hard mode. Only bad things are render distance, cyberspace controls are a bit wonky, and giving just a little more life to the world. Otherwise 10/10

    This game is perfect the control the island there are so many challenges and combats and when you lvl up youre speed Sonic goes crazy fast the Story is a little bit dark and i love it my review buy the game it’s totally worth it.

However, everything else outshines it. The story is great with the help of Ian Flynn, known for the Sonic IDW comics. The voice acting is okay for the most part, Amy's in particular is wonderful. Character interactions are great and feel so much better than what we got in the last decade.

    Exploring the open world is genuinely great. I always find myself exploring to see what else there is to find instead of going to the main goal. Last night, I said I'd only play for another hour. Before I knew it, I had played for 8. (Also I do not understand the complaints about the world feeling "empty", I think stuff being spaced out is necessary given how fast Sonic goes.)

    But more or less, this game leaves a wonderful foundation for follow-ups. I cannot wait to see what the Sonic series brings in the future.

    P.S. The soundtrack is FIRE and they got Kellin Quinn from Sleeping with Sirens on it. 100/10 banger OST.    … Expand

    While in the trailers the open world gameplay seemed automated, I found it to be actually really fun because you can kinda zone out and have fun with each one. Cyberspace isn't even that bad too because physics are your worst enemy in these stages. This soundtrack is also the best sonic soundtrack we have ever gotten. The highest point in this game is fighting the bosses, but I won't spoil it.

    The story is really good as well. Ian Flynn definitely delivered on the writing and the direction for the voice cast was spot on along with their performances. Soundtrack even for a Sonic game this OST stands out, fr the ambient sounds of the islands during exploration, to the various styles of high bpm breakbeat, edm and techno in cyberspace levels, to the absolute BANGER boss themes. The FRONTIERS OST is among the best in ther series and that's saying a lot, considering there are virtually no misses when it comes to music in this franchise.

    Overall, any gripes I had with the game were personal and very minor. This is a great new step for the franchise. I LOVE THIS GAME!    … Expand

    Great hybrid of the boost/adventure formula! The open zone concept becomes so much more clearer when you play the game yourself. Story is amazing with phenomenal writing. Gameplay feels slick and tight- if slightly janky.

    The story is very good, it gets you nailed, at the beginning it feels a bit weak but as the game progresses it gets very good, the new gameplay is different and I like that, there are several things that can be improved such as poping or the movement in cyberspace but from there my opinion about the game does not change much.

    I give it a 9 just because the true final boss of the game, is a bit disappointing that they turned the best opportunity to be ultra epic, in a bullet hell with 3 quick time events, anything besides that is just perfect.

As a long time Sonic fan, I've gone around 11 years without a good 3D mainline game now, and sonic frontiers absolutely delivers on being something super special with so much potential. I have played this game to 100% completion and outside of the secret hard mode final boss, I loved every minute. That final boss was awful though lol. This formula has so much potential, and I really hope SEGA and Sonic Team look to refine it into something really amazing. For now at least, I can confidently say that Sonic is good again, and that's a fantastic feeling.… Expand

In Sonic Frontiers, it's up to you to save Sonic's friends and rescue them from cyberspace, all while trying to overpower the new threats that await. Unlike past Sonic games where you'd speed through levels, Frontiers takes a new approach: Open Zone, and it really pays off! As for the more linear reach the goal levels, they're a part of the new Cyberspace levels. While it's a little hard to get a hold of the, admittedly clunky controls, once you do you'll be S-ranking Cyberspace levels at the fastest speeds possible! Visually, the game looks fairly average, however you can still capture some gorgeous scenery and beautiful views from the Starfall Islands. There are a few gripes I have here and there with this game, but it doesn't knock any points, and they're more nitpicks than anything.

    Overall, Sonic Frontiers is a wonderfully crafted game by SEGA and Sonic Team, and is the best 3D Sonic game since Sonic Generations! From its fun and unique combat, to the beautifully designed open zones, to its fast paced Cyberspace stages, to its incredible story, its music, and its beautiful visuals, Sonic Frontiers is worth your time and is a very thrilling game!

    i can admit this game has jank and some odd things about it, but my GOD, this game has so many incredible moments ranging from boss fights, exploration and even trying to get everything in cyberspace stages, it's just so fun i simply can't justify giving it anything below a 9. well done SEGA, this is amazing

It really feels like you’re interacting with people and not robots or npcs. The game is also super loooong, i bought it on release day and i’m not even close to finishing it. So much content!

How the world has been portrayed has left me amazed with all the previous games referenced to make it all an official cannon and not a cheesy reference like previous games have done. (even a Sonic Boom reference was mentioned which caught me by surprise, makes me wonder what they will do with that in the next game)

    Only problem with the game was the cyberspace control, and i was going to mention the reuse of previous games for level design but it was KINDA justified from the last island where sage basically mentions that, so I felt like I couldn't really complain as some stages where original, just wish there was more of them.

    But I will just say they better see these user scores over the critics because WE know what we want in a sonic game WE are the ones who know sonic better than anyone else so WE know what makes sonic good.

Sonic and friends finally feel like themselves and talk like actual friends. The combat has a certain level of jank to it but is overall pretty fun, I hope for more moves that really capitalize on Sonics speed next game.     Hacía años que no se ponía a la venta un Sonic que de verdad me recordase a los Sonic originales, con todo lo bueno que aporta la tecnología y lo bien que han sabido crear un juego divertido, majestuoso y que no puedes dejar de jugar. Una belleza gráfica sin duda, y también sonora gracias a su exquisita banda sonora.

    I was so worried for this game before launch with a huge rollad coaster of emotions, but this is easily one of my favorite sonic games of all time and is laying the foundation for future greatness!

    There is nothing remotely redeeming about this game. Nothing that even the most die-hard loyal Sonic Fans would or should advocate for. I hope that one day someone who cares enough about this franchise could give us something-anything of substance. A fan can hope, can’t they? A fan can hope.

    Finally, after almost 25years of half measures and mostly mediocre titles, Sonic has finally reached the 3D levels of gameplay it needed to reach. Yes, the pop in is absolutely inexcusable and the ancient gatekeeping grindy methods damage the flow of the game for no reason, but a wonderfully built base exists here, with a highly entertaining adventure in wonderfully melancholic world and a surprisingly well founded story, thankfully clean of Sonic’s annoying 3rd tier friends!
