    I look at this as a lazy piece of work you can (sort of) call a game. The Saints Row reboot we've all been waiting for was a disappointment and a blunder. This game is stocked with dull jokes, bad writing, and a boring story. While there's a fresh cast of characters, it doesn't feel the same with the previous games' wacky sense of humor. I would bring up the mass amount of glitches, bugs,I look at this as a lazy piece of work you can (sort of) call a game. The Saints Row reboot we've all been waiting for was a disappointment and a blunder. This game is stocked with dull jokes, bad writing, and a boring story. While there's a fresh cast of characters, it doesn't feel the same with the previous games' wacky sense of humor. I would bring up the mass amount of glitches, bugs, stiff gunplay, and constant crashes, but I'm hoping it doesn't have to come to that being the main focal point of this game's hate. I will give some credit to this game for it's pretty graphics, and lively atmosphere.     I played this game on PC, and it runs very well; I encountered very few bugs, and it looks gorgeous. The sound is excellent, and the shooting is very fluid and fun. Physics and driving are also very responsive and very fun. The level of customization of my 'boss' is pretty cool too. I was able to re-create myself very well. Very nice.

    However... What's the point of this game? The story    I played this game on PC, and it runs very well; I encountered very few bugs, and it looks gorgeous. The sound is excellent, and the shooting is very fluid and fun. Physics and driving are also very responsive and very fun. The level of customization of my 'boss' is pretty cool too.     Sanitized characters with very little humor and the whole thing just felt like a bunch of boomers and older Gen X’ers trying to write what they thought would appeal to millennials and zoomers. Student loans, yadda yadda yadda, late stage capitalism, yadda yadda yadda, evil imperialist corporation… If the Steve Buscemi “how do you do fellow kids” scene/meme were a video game, this would be it.

    Driving and shooting is janky af, the vast majority of missions are just “go here, pick up thing, bring it back”, even the main story missions. The “gang building” is but a pale imitation of the first two SR games. Visually the game looks like something from mid-last gen only with volumetric fog and heat distortion effects for the hell of it -- but there's nothing here that can excuse the game's absolutely awful performance. Unstable frame rates, copious frame drops, stutters, extreme texture pop in, missing textures, the list goes on. And the list of bugs I encountered, many minor, some gamebreaking, would be too long to type.

    26 hours played to reach 100% completion and I only bothered because I didn't have anything better to play at the moment. I cannot recommend this game, especially not to Saints Row fans. This is a dumbed down, forgettable, "politically correct" version of the Saints and it feels like a game the original Saints Row would have absolutely pilloried. Saints Row 4 accurately predicted this with their parody signs reading: "REBOOT IS DEATH". This is, indeed, the death of a once fun franchise. Rest in Peace, Third Street Saints.    … Expand

    What a crapshoot. Awful graphics, terrible controls, dull missions, rubbish weapon system and bland story. Managed 32 hours before a gamebreaking bug means I can no longer access the weapon wheel making the game unplayable, even after loading an old save & uninstalling, reinstalling game (even after today's new patch!!). Reported this to the Devs 3 weeks ago, supplied further details 17What a crapshoot. Awful graphics, terrible controls, dull missions, rubbish weapon system and bland story.     I have played all the SR games and this is probably the worst one because of incredibly huge ammount of neglection and ignorance. It's practically a joke, as if the developers didn't know what the gamers really want.

    2. another copy of SR game with changed dialogues, but same voices
    3. unrealistic driving - hit the brakes in your real car as fast as in the game then go and smack the guy responsible for steering cars and bikes in this game
    3. as usual: no walk button on PC, every movement is way too fast - it really looks like an arcade game for mobile phones
    Good things I really like are: character creation and that it's possible to change your character body and appearance any time as well as quite good voice acting, sound engineering and solid cut-scenes. Also: model behaviour (although too fast movement is a pain)
    All in all, I deeply regret how this game turned out. There are almost no alternatives to GTA, which is stagerring, based on how many people like this kind of games. One of the only rivals of GTA present a game which is incredibly shallow. The question remains: WHY?    … Expand

    This game is a terrorist attack on creativity and legacy. Not only on this franchise but on the whole game industry. Bugs can be fixed so they are not included in this rating. But the bad game design and censure are not fixable. Teach people to deal with the world - not make the world boring for everybody just to not hurt these peoples little feelings.

    Dated, repetitive and very boring. Feels like a game that came out in 2011. Also has one of the worst endings in any game I have played in along time. There is no ending build up it just like the writers decided they ran out of time or can't pace a game. Do not recommend it at all

    This game is not great. Feels like a PS2 playstyle with decent graphics and design. To introduce this game with the platform capabilites of the PS5 is an insult. Then to charge $70.00 for it is ridiculous. I don't give my opinion often, but this game is trash. I won't be playing a game from this developer again. It would be a waste of my time, and more importantly money.

This game looks better, but in motion, it looks like complete trash. Also; this is yet another open-world game with a nice, big map that is virtually empty.

    I don't even have the energy to write a full negative review about this. They rebooted the series in all the wrong ways, its not fun, its buggy, its just terrible.

    The main cast is the characters the actual saints would have bullied in saints row 1-4. Don't buy this, its garbage.

The combat gets a little lame and a pain when every mission is just fight fight and fight in SR3 every gun upgrade made ut look different here it stays the same,the new perk upgrade system is horrible in SR3 it was fkin amazing, the world feels empty, cool costumization system, i actually enjoyed the story but in 3 there were choices... i consider it ok nothing more but notI had no bugs.     TLDR: a tremendous disappointment it wants to be saints row but gives a fortnite type of vibe in terms of the audience that should play it, they made it a little more friendly feels like, SR3 felt like they actually targeted an actual mature player base but here its like they aim for idk 10-16-17 yr olds. A great example is Borderlands where they added streaming and social media into the story like it is not their place in these types of video games. The game is just BLAND

    Idk why this comparison came to mind SR3 feels like an actual action movie with jokes but when i think of the reboot i outright think of it as being Toys Story from Disney xD

    I believe it can 100%be enjoyed by some people and 100% hated by others however i am in the middle cant give it a 6 either because we waited too damn long just to get this one of the games ever made but i do say TRY IT see if you like the game    … Expand

    Really disappointed with this game. I've been a fan since the original Saints Row and purchased this game blind thinking it would at least be at the quality of previous game. Honestly, it's embarrassing. I'm annoyed that I wasted $60 on this. Graphics are bad, gameplay sucks, story is boring, and not a single interesting character. I wish I could get a refund.

    First thing I had to point out is I couldn't launch the game at first. I had to do the trick by hitting Enter multiple times to load into the game. The other trick is to agree to the EULA from Epic website.

    I've only played the game for about 1 and a half and this game is very buggy. The animations and controls feels very outdated. Feels like I'm playing a PS3 game. I changed all the sensitivity in the settings in game, but that made no difference. Also feels the sensitivity randomly changes when shooting on foot.

    I couldn't really get into the story. It feels out of place for a saints row game. A group of college kids needing money to pay rent and pay off student loans. The way they act doesn't feel like they belong in a gang. They don't even seem like the type of people who would go out robbing banks and killing people.

    Then on top of that, the developers bash people who criticize their game. Any company who blames their customers instead of themselves, or at least acknowledge the backlash and try to make it right, is an instant no go for me. I refunded this game. I may pick it up later when it's on sale, has it's dlcs, and bugs worked out.    … Expand

    I want to start out by saying I'm a saints row fan. I WANTED to like this game I really did. I loved the game since an old friend introduced me to saints row 2. And when the reboot came out and the devs said it was a mix of 2 and 3, that had a more grounded story and whacky I held on hope. I wanted to give it a chance, I even preordered the gold edition because I love this series. I wantedI want to start out by saying I'm a saints row fan. I WANTED to like this game I really did. I wanted to give it a chance, I even preordered the gold edition because I love this series. I wanted to see it grow and get better and get back to where it used to be.     The new characters didn't bother me, the new story didn't bother me, even the same gameplay of "shoot a bunch of dudes over and over again" because it was really hard to melee in here. I even forgave that. BUT THE BUGS I CAN NOT FORGIVE. This game is unplayable. When I have to worry about doing a mission and the game soft locking, losing all my progress that is one thing I can not stand! This game needed way more time in the oven. And since I can't even return it because epic games said it's beyond 2 hours. I spent most of that time just trying to start and restart the game because there's a BUG that makes it hard to even OPEN the game. I'm so disappointed and brokenhearted over this. This is worse than no man's sky when it first came out, worse than cyberpunk 2077.

    I'm done, I'm never buying another saints row game again. The game died long ago and this reboot is nothing but a zombie version of it, trying to be one of the cool kids.

    What makes matters worse is that I honestly don't think Saints Row can come back from this. The devs pissed off and insulted old fans, maybe it's time to finally let this game die.    … Expand

    Played the game on pc for eight hours. My profile and save data got corrupted three times. I had to start over from the beginning of the game each time. Even after downloading two patch updates.

    I m so sick of triple A publishers selling unfinished, buggy games at a full price, ruining good IPs and violating the trust of fans in the process. The physics are ridiculous at best, the KI is horribly unpredictably stupid. I know this is due to the greediness of the higher-ups but still.....I actually created a metacritic acc just for this one review, not expecting to anyone actually care about what I have to say but I d like to think its still better then keeping quiet on this matter, that is torturing the gaming-community for a very long time now.     Saint Row es un juego plagado de errores desde la última actualización, lo errores son los siguientes :

    - Se bloquean la mayoría de los botones -los Autos de los panteros explotan sin razón cuando voy caminando -se cierra el juego sin razón aparente - Fracaso la misión sólo por que si - En una misión no puedo matar a los por que estaban en una zpna elevada pero estaban congelados    Saint Row es un juego plagado de errores desde la última actualización, lo errores son los siguientes :

I love that the game is the 'toned down' version of GTA because I can't stand all the n-word this, n-word that BUT this new installment definitely is NOT Saint's Row. Why? Because the characters are mostly flat, the stakes are boring, and the wild, nutty stuff from the previous games is completely absent! Simply put, YOUI've been a fan of Saint's Row since the beginning of the franchise.     This "game" is an unfinished mess. There is very few good things about this "game", one of them being is the funnest part of the game, the refunding option. This game tries to hard to not offend anybody, it's like saints row 2 made for gen z. If you want to make your fans excited, maybe don't add "horse balls" and ignore the fans.

I don’t often regret buying games, but this “new” Saints Row is one of the worst games I’ve ever purchased. ToOne word - horrible!     Giving saints row a 3.9/10, had a giggle here and there out of this cringe game, would of been a 2.9 but I got it for free out of a playstation 5 bundle.

    The game is too short, and it feels like a lot of it is missing the boss fights don't feel like boss fights especially the first one Wich the game does it for you in a cut scene. The game it self is buggy and glitchy.

    Looks like an Xbox 360 game doing it's best Cyberbug 2077 impersonation with all the glitches. Gameplay is boring and gunplay feels off. The writing is horrible and the characters are more annoying than you can imagine. Saints Row 2022 is embarrassing.

    Remember, this game was delayed from January to August. There is literally no reason to play this game. The gameplay isn't fun, the visuals are worse than the previous game Saints Row The Third. The story makes no sense and you never end up caring about any of the main characters. The guns feel like toys. I somehow managed to play 3 hours of this nightmare and that's 3 hours too long.

Cringy characters that feel the furthest thing from gangsters. The story is forgettable and lifeless with horrible writing. Radio stations feel lifeless compared to other games.The only good thing about this game is the character creation.

    Error error error another reboot with no personality what a waste of money and time. Full of glitches. First 15 min i fell through the map. Game got stuck on last level with character on fire in some weird location and tjen saved so when i loaded it back thats all that showed . THE GAME IS BROKEN. i personally dont care to see it fixed.

I hope that Volition & Deep Silver will one day realize that they messed up bad with this game and the 3 before it just because they outright refuse to listen to their fans. I would like to see them publicly apologize for this poor excuse of a "Saints Row" game, but that will never happen, they will never admit that they were wrong, even if this was the final nail in the coffin for their already downward spiraling company.     In attempting to push the ideology of "inclusiveness," manages to be one not as inclusive as the devs seem to think it is; not the least of which, the inclusion in that of the "non-POC" demographic (just read your reviews).

    Released so is this game, yet we're not one step closer fixing the problems of the world.
    We're not one step closer to pushing past the superficial differences that comprise what is "us."
    We're not one step closer to addressing the shortcomings of society that are a detriment to peoples of ALL demographics.

    "Don't take it too seriously."

    This is supposed to be "just a game" and yet, the fun and novel dries up rather quickly.

    The cliché "wage slave" story feels like stepping in a puddle of water but then trampling into a brightly contrasting world of...not all that many interesting things to do in the betweens. A beautifully built world that quickly feels uninteresting to explore, even repetitive. Gone are the outrageous "idgaf" weapons so memorable of the previous entries (Rectifier Probe anyone?) replaced with weapons that I don't care enough about to remember.

    The cringe humor feels like someone woke in the morning and before the blood started flowing, thought they had a gem.

    Most of the game feels like it was attempting to compensate for something that is no longer there. And can't decide what it wants to be.

    Gone is the silliness of its past reminding itself not to take it too seriously. Replaced with a resoluteness and air of pretentiousness that has neither charm nor character. An empty shell of what it once was, the series can't return to such outrageousness. And at the same time, it cannot assimilate the gritty seriousness of its genre contemporaries.

    The greatest games need only excel at a few things. Saints Row manages to excel at none. Average and forgettable at best but the shallowness of its virtuousness leaves a foul taste long after.

    Perhaps it's time to hang it up; something that it is no longer. A dying breath harkening to the relic of a bygone era.    … Expand

    I came around to the idea of the reboot. I accepted that we was never going to go back to the Saints Row we all knew and loved. I decided let’s give the devs a chance to do something new. Even still is was disappointed….. Story: Where to start with this abomination. Cringy characters and dialogue are the biggest pain when playing through the story. At points your sat in confusion and agony with what the characters are waffling on about. The humour is for “woke” people, the missions are repetitive and you can tell little imagination has gone into them. The story is a little short and key parts are brushed over. It feels like it was rushed. I can’t excuse the writing of this game. It shows how out of touch and boring these devs are.

    Gameplay: Eeek! From health bars everywhere you look to AI glitches this is probably the worst open world gameplay you will see. Laws of physics do not exist in this world. You can blow a car up by sneezing. AI are stupid and broken most of the time. The wing suits feel odd and out of place. Overall it feels like a chore to play. The map: The setting of the map is actually pretty cool. Graphics are fine and art style is nice. Overall the map is one of the biggest positives about the whole game. However, there are some key problems that need to be talked about. First of all the streets are so empty. It’s like hardly anyone lives in the city or they are just hermits. Also, some buildings that look like you should be able to go into, you CAN’T. They had something good going with the map but just fell short with a few details. Customisation: Lots of interesting character, car and weapon customisation! You can create some really funny character designs. Lots of options are of course a good thing and this is probably the only thing in the game they sort of got right. In conclusion:
    I don’t want to be mean to the devs but oh my I have to be. They had so much time to make this game even delaying it but they still couldn’t refine it. They ignored the core fan base and their wishes. The devs are obviously more interested in pandering to wokeness and diversity than actually making a game that is a success. They let their own agendas and idealogical beliefs dictate their games. It’s such a disappointment reality but there’s nothing we can do.     Du Gameplay à l'histoire le jeu tient tout sauf ses promesses, On pense diriger un gang quand en réalité on a l'impression d'être le gérant de la MJC du coin.

    Niveau Histoire, tout est sujet à rigolade, ici , vous ne trouverez aucun évènement aussi marquant que ceux de Saints Row 2 ou 3. Les membres fondateurs du groupe ont plus la dégaine d'acteurs de sitcoms des années 2000 que de vrais gangsters. Et même dans le peu de quêtes qu'offrent le mode histoire, il n'y aura qu'une ou deux missions qui seront vraiment mémorables. Mot qui d'ailleurs, est tout le contraire de l'ensemble des personnages que vous allez croiser dans le jeu.

    Concernant le gameplay, honnêtement je ne saurais par ou commencer :
    - Les NPCs ont encore que deux réponses en tête quand ils vous voient : fuir ou tirer pour les plus braves d'entre eux
    - Les multiples bugs qui vous font sortir de la map ou qui vous bloquent sur des missions du mode HISTOIRE
    - La physique des voitures, car bien qu'elles soient assez agréable à conduire (j'ai bien aimé les drift en Raycaster), elles restent sacrément horribles à prendre en main à partir du moment ou vous utiliserez un grappin pour attacher un autre truc à eux
    - Le système de BARRE DE VIE ??!? Dans un jeu OPEN WORLD, Sérieux ?? C'est insupportable de devoir vider 2-3 chargeurs pour un seul ennemi

    Alors bien sur vous pourrez toujours modifier la résistance des ennemis, ou bien même masquer les barres de vie des voitures/ennemis, ça reste un ajout assez plaisant, mais de ce j'ai pu tester ça rendra le jeu soit trop facile, soit trop dur.

    Malheureusement je ne pourrai pas vous parler de mon expérience sur la Co-op parce que déjà je n'ai nullement l'envie d'imposer ce semblant de "jeu" à mes proches, mais aussi parce que je vois pas l'intérêt de visiter une map aussi vide et sans intérieur qu'on soit deux ou pas.

    Donc si vous souhaitez jouer en espérant avoir un Saints Row 2,3 voire au pire du pire 4, vous vous trompez gravement.
    Par contre vous souhaitez jouer à un jeu finissable assez rapidement, avec une bonne customisation de personnages vous allez trouver votre bonheur (si le jeu ne crash pas toutes les 4h ).    … Expand

A direct mafia styled SR2 sequel would have some very real potential but I pray to God some superior dev studio is granted the rights to this franchise and it gets picked up because this series should never again be touched by Volition.     This game is just soooo bad. I only finished the first mission and I'm pretty much done with it. Asking for a refund. The Graphics are PS3, the story is crap, the shooting portion is just very bland. This game feels like a substandard ps3 game from 15 years ago.... Do yourself a favor and just skip it and maybe Volition will either learn or go bust.......

    There is nothing to do in the open world when compared to the previous Saints Row games. The customization in this game is biblical, but what good is any of that when the game itself is buggy and boring? Not to mention how bad the visuals look with the horrible lighting effects and cartoonish character models. These developers are so lazy, they can't even properly make a cat in 2022. You call that ugly thing a cat? There is no demolition derby. This game has car customization but no racing. What kind of backwards logic is that? Lazy developers can't even add something as simple as racing. Speaking of racing, the driving mechanics are trash. Every car is as powerful as a tank. The vehicle selection is the worst in the series. The developers added a big lake in the middle of the city, to give players the illusion that the city is bigger than it actually is. If anything, it makes certain parts of the city feel like a small town. This game tries too hard to be funny. The only thing I find funny about this game is that these out of touch developers actually thought that making this poor excuse of game would be a brilliant idea. The characters magically teleport in the car. The controls are beyond horrible.

    The co-op multiplayer is complete trash. The developers are too cheap and lazy to make PvP multiplayer. It's pathetic that these greedy developers have gotten so lazy, they haven't made PvP since Saints Row 2. These developers are so cheap, they decided to add some stock songs for the radio. Are you freaking kidding me? It's already bad enough that the radio lacks hits compared to the previous installments, but would it kill these cheapskates to at least pay for underground artists for the country station rather than adding stock songs? Not even Rockstar or Ubisoft would be that greedy to add stock songs into their fake radio stations. The cowboy statue with the Pringles head has a cringeworthy face on the cover of this game. It doesn't help that there is a lady with a SJW haircut sitting on it. This made me remove the cover paper off the game case and rip it into pieces. I don't recommend this game at all, unless you want to support laziness.

    Edit: You know what, I change my mind. I'm changing my score from a 0 to a 1, only because of how amazing the customization is. How many games have this much depth in customization? I have to give them credit for that. It's too bad that literally every other aspect of this game is garbage.    … Expand

    The developers have publicly stated SR4 was a mistake and they are going to fix that mistake by making the most hyper woke gen z game possible. The game is a soulless pure cringe unplayable mess. Anything even remotely fun has been removed from the game. Every character is unlikeable to the point you will want throw something at your TV.

    Another disappointment in an era of disappointing games. They must have gone on a hiring spree and only picked up mediocre junior devs. Even if all the bugs are fixed you’re left with only a mildly entertaining goat simulator that you tire of after 5 minutes.

    This is such a step back and it shows with the gameplay. Driving feels clunky and outdated with nothing really new added. Combat is probably the worst part as it doesn't feel rewarding or engaging, AI is also terrible and really feels like a copy paste of cyberpunk 2077

    Stick to the old games, they're more entertaining than this ever will be. Saints Row started out as a GTA clone before it found its own identity, this game is trying to be a clone of a clone and failing. No likeable characters, a lackluster story, and most importantly no Johnny Gat. Save your money you can get all the older games for less than this and be better off for it.

    Giving it a 1 because the combat and atmosphere/visual design is pretty cool, if you can shut your brain down enough to enjoy them. Might have rated it higher if the developers weren't acting like children on Twitter, which put a sour taste in my mouth from the beginning, unfortunately. Not sure how insulting your fan base makes good business sense.

    Shame that developers refuse to learn from others' (much less their own) mistakes - which shouldn't be surprising considering CD Projekt is one of the developers listed for this project.    … Expand

    for an open world gangster game in 2022, you cant steal from shops, you cant even gamble and there are multiple casinos, the characters are awful, the missions are repetitive, and the games still has problems even on new gen consoles. do not buy it and if you do pls wait until for updates and discounts, this garbage is not worth full price

    You just can't get away with a 2010 game in 2022, this game had the potential, but it's completely trash. Gameplay is soo OLD and it's so boring, the activities are all the same and the gunplay is completely garbage. There are lots of bug and glitches too. The game isn't bad overall, in 2011-12 i would gave this game an 8, but it's 2022 and this game feels like a PS3 game, what a shame.

There's little in newly thought of content.     I think Saints Row IV is better than this new ''reboot'' although the section to customize your character seems extensive to me, the story seems bad with a ''cringe'' humor and I'm sorry there are bugs, some fun, but unfortunately there are bugs that break the in-game experience, I think Volition should remaster the first two Saints Row

    One of the least enjoyable opening missions I've played.
