    This game is so much more than i ever expected it to be. It's way longer than i expected it to be. I think some people don't understand that resident evil games have always been 5 to 16 hours, if you take your time it can be 20, but it's somewhere around there. Solid work by Capcom.

    At this point i seriously fail to understand why some people still try to hate on it. What are you trying to accomplish? I'm not saying you can't say that you hate certain game, of course you can. But what's the point honestly? It's very obvious what Capcom is doing right now, so if you hate these new games, you might as well leave this series for next 2 years. That's what this series is and most people seem to absolutely love it. It's crazy how good reviews it gets on steam. But to be completely fair, if you don't like Resident Evil 4, i don't like you anyway. Would recommend Village to anyone (even people who are new to RE series) who wants to have fun, lots of boss battles, great graphics and weapon upgrades. People who say it doesn't have horror at all are simply lying. Or maybe their definition of horror is just hiding in the corner. That's something i call pathetic, not horror, but to each their own. I would also recommend playing Resident Evil 4 after RE Village, it's truly absolute masterpiece and best game in whole RE series.… Expand

    Resident Evil Village é incrível, o jogo traz uma variedade enorme de inimigos, os cenários e ambientação lindíssima, além de ter ótimos personagens. O jogo é extremamente recomendável se vc gosta de Resident Evil ou de um ótimo jogo de terror.

    RE8 reminds me nothing of the old games but the graphics are drop dead gorgeous, the gun play is perfect, the game gives you goosebumps because its scary at times. The story is ridiculous & sucks & Ethan Winters is so lame. I had a good time with the game and beat it in about 30 hours.

    It's a solid game. Though you can really tell that they turned down the horror and scary elements in this game to appeal to a larger group of people. I don't play many horror games ( cause honestly I scare easily in games, but i like it! ) but in re8 i was rarely as scared as I thought I would be. Even so some parts were pretty scary and overall it is a great game to play.

    Resident Evil Village is a great game for the following reasons:

    1. The mystery is very intriguing. As I finished RE 7: Biohazard, I had a lot of unanswered questions about Ethan Winters and many of them were answered during this game (I'm not going into spoilers). 2. Gameplay - I really liked the transition from almost exclusive horror genre (in RE 7) to action-horror, while    Resident Evil Village is a great game for the following reasons:

    1. The mystery is very intriguing. As I finished RE 7: Biohazard,
    I had a lot of unanswered questions about Ethan Winters and many of them were answered during this game (I'm not going into spoilers).
    2. Gameplay - I really liked the transition from almost exclusive horror genre (in RE 7) to action-horror, while maintaining the first person perspective.
    The action mechanics are somewhat simplistic but the game compensates with lots of difficult situations that will force the player to be sharp or survive with no ammo. The game also includes many puzzles and some very interesting bosses arcs, that are delivered with great story and atmosphere in addition to the fight itself.
    3. Characters - I find Ethan Winters as a very good and relatable protagonist because he is a normal guy (mostly...) , and throughout the game he has to deal with some very disturbing and dark moments in order to save his child. As we progress we see how he is affected by the events until the ending.
    The four lords are very interesting although you don't get a lot of interaction with them. However, It is amazing how reading the lore in the game succeed to expand your understanding their narrative.

    This game was truly a Next Gen game for the PS5 especially with the hepatic feedbacks and the adaptive triggers! The game itself had amazing stunning visuals and amazing gameplay as it stayed true to a horror/survival game. The game from start to finish had me emotional. From fear to joy to sadness. This game is a masterpiece. This is now my top story game to play and I will be replaying.This game was truly a Next Gen game for the PS5 especially with the hepatic feedbacks and the adaptive triggers!     Resident Evil Village continued on the story from the last game and even some of the past resident evils and finished it off with a touching ending that just wants you to continue playing as well as play the next game they coming out for the series.     This game is a masterpiece. I know there are some points in the game which made me think “woah what now ??” But overall the gameplay was amazing the mechanics were perfect.. i am really looking forward to capcom’s next project...

    The horror in this game is amaaaaazing well balanced with the action !!! Great one capcom !!!

    After a long time that many failed and dissapointing games have come for PS5 since its lunch, Except Demon's Souls , Resident Evil 8 made my weekend the greatest. Scary Enough, Action enough and Definitely a great story that has made me not to turn my PS5 for more than 10hours.

    Not better than 7, but still a great game. The story started off as a cliche, but it had some great twists so I could enjoy that. Overall not very scary, but this game had amazing, memorable boss fights. Well-made survival horror game.

This game has Terrible puzzles to the point you don't even want to play it anymore..Ethan is a horrendous actor, (or whoever wrote and the voice actor) . It just feels like a chore, where it's not even worth the hassle of doing some puzzles. The lowest part of the entire series.     I'm new to the RE universe and used to playing games much more difficult and longer (Souls fan). With that said, after watching way to many streamers play this I decided to make the plunge. Overall I'm satisfied and although I wish it were longer for $60 I've spent more taking the family to the movies for two hours of entertainment.

    1 point for the graphics. But: no RE music, no RE universe, Ethan is even worse than in VII. FP was the wrong decision in VII and here its worse: a mediocore FPS. A shooter for the twitch-degeneration. Capcom killed the franchise. Those games have NOTHING to do with the classic REs. Nothing.

    Really had a lot of fun playing this game. Best resident evil for me up there next to re4 and I played them all. Loved the characters the story and how enjoyable it is. Will definitely go new game plus and jam the online reverse as well as mercenaries. I think you get a lot in one game with all these features.

    First next gen game. The details in the environment are like the gilded age. There's just so much baroque architecture and crazy staircases and even railings look amazing. The game is perfect to me with the huge different "levels" and the hub, the classic monsters, the right amount of gunplay with exploration and puzzles.     Capcom you are incredible, this game has become a real discovery. Delight did not leave throughout the passage. The way they worked on the village is worthy of applause. A true child's delight, involvement in the gameplay, a real gift for everyone who appreciates single-player story games. Respect, it was very cool !

    A mi parecer el juego estuvo muy bien ejecutado, me gustó la implementación de los conceptos del resident evil 4 y 7, la unión de estos conceptos con la historia y su amplia cantidad de armas y "monstruos" mutados me pareció muy buena diría que hasta me fascinó. Me gustó su historia de principio a fin lo único que me hubiera gustado que hubiese un poquito más es de mas partes donde teA mi parecer el juego estuvo muy bien ejecutado, me gustó la implementación de los conceptos del resident evil 4 y 7, la unión de estos conceptos con la historia y su amplia cantidad de armas y "monstruos" mutados me pareció muy buena diría que hasta me fascinó. Me gustó su historia de principio a fin lo único que me hubiera gustado que hubiese un poquito más es de mas partes donde te hace saltar del susto como un pantallazo de un fantasma que te salte o una mano atrapando tu cara quedaría mejor aparte de que me hubiese gustado un poco más de protagonismo por parte de chris, el juego estuvo muy bueno falto poco para estar excelente. yo le doy 9.2 pero lo redondeados a 9.… Expand

Lograron que te encariñaras con el personaje, sin embargo no me parece que hayan terminado su historia, apenas es el segundo juego que teníamos con él, apenas nos lo presentaron bien y resulta que ya está muerto, no necesitas matar al personaje principal para lograr un buen final.
    Gran variedad de enemigos, excelente como cada batalla contra un jefe es distinta, de verdad excelente . La casa Beneviento es una obra de arte, es la cantidad perfecta de terror que necesitábamos.
    El único problema que encuentro con la jugabilidad es que a veces parece que estás agachado cuando no es así.    … Expand

    I am about 80% through this game and I love it! Well written, good scares, and the puzzles might be frustrating but I enjoyed the frustration. (The part with the doll)

    This is a game dedicated to celebrate RE games and Horror Troupe game with mechanics and references. This is maybe the best story in all of RE Games. Before you play this, please play RE 7 first because the impact of the story is soo good if you have played RE 7.

    In a word, incredible! This game blew me away the first three hours had me in my seat and comletely immersed! This game is freaking amazing!! I am a huge Resident Evil fan but I fell off at RE5, I could not stand the buffed up characters and the emphasise on action. RES 7 blew my mind and RES 8 has gone even farther. As a side note I bought it on PS4 because there are no PS5 in MO. but the graphics and performance has really, REALLY impressed me. It looks better than almost any game I have ever seen on PS4!     Village is going to feel very familiar to you if you have played Biohazard (RE7), for better or worse. For me, this was a somewhat formulaic RE outing that didn't push any boundaries out of the comfort zone RE7 found. I'll explain below.

    The graphics are a strong selling point of the game. Almost everything looks amazing and despite the premise of a tiny village, RE8 is able to display    Village is going to feel very familiar to you if you have played Biohazard (RE7), for better or worse. For me, this was a somewhat formulaic RE outing that didn't push any boundaries out of the comfort zone RE7 found. I'll explain below.

    The graphics are a strong selling point of the game. Almost everything looks amazing and despite the premise of a tiny village, RE8 is able to display a nice diversity of landscapes and textures. The early-game is also reminiscent of RE4 as well as RE7 with the eerily quiet dwellings amid a rural backdrop.

    The downside of the graphics is that Capcom have taken the horror theme a bit too literally and so many buildings and locations are incredibly dark. When used tentatively this is great, however in Village I ended up increasing the brightness to unnaturally high levels just to make the game more playable when trying to locate items and doorways in the dark. In addition to this, RE8 is recycling familiar themes of underground labs, castles and marshy terrain, not too dissimilar from RE4 and RE8.

    The gameplay of RE8 is a mixed bag. I played on Casual difficulty as I expected any higher would just be a case of numbers, with enemies doing more damage. Again my issue with Village is the formulaic recycling of mechanics, especially the locked doors and tedious, time-consuming puzzles. There is far too much backtracking with various keys and locks. In the early game especially I was constantly being told doors were locked or opened on the the other side. I understand this is a staple of RE but I find it very outdated and I wonder if I would have enjoyed the game more if I wasn't delayed by these design choices, because there are some fantastic moments in the game which I won't spoil here, but I also wonder if there is a need for punctuation between the climaxes and I hope there is a better alternative to inane puzzles.

    I must also applaud the game for being accessible and catering, in that there are obviously various difficulties but also concept such as aim assist. Dark Souls fans will cringe at this but I believe allowing people to play games in a manner that befits their abilities results in happier gamers and happier customers.

    Despite the aforementioned puzzles, I found the game to be well-paced overall, however I was also glad to see it end when I was nearly 8 hours into it. Resident Evil games have never been very long affairs and are typically designed with multiple play-throughs in mind. That's not my cup of tea, but there is ample content to justify replayability.

    The story of Village isn't overly complex and that's a good thing. It follows on from RE7 with Ethan Winters being the primary protagonist. I won't spoil it but there are a good amount of twists and upheavals that made me happy to sit through the cut-scenes. There some nice nods to earlier games and even some fourth-wall breaking humour which I appreciated. The story is a good element in Village as it moves forward whilst acknowledging the past and doesn't become stale.

    Overall, Village does its best to keep the RE franchise fresh and alive, however some mechanics such as the puzzles and backtracking are things I would like to see Capcom re-invent or replace. Whilst Village is a fairly good game, it looks, plays and feels too much like RE7 for my liking. There will most certainly be a RE9 and I look forward to seeing if Capcom can leave their current comfort zone and give us something different.    … Expand

Новый резидент не боится экспериментов и кучку "толерантнных " критиков ,которые придрались бы к неестественным и специфическим решениям авторов данного произведения. И в итоге можно говорить много про новый резидент , но надо ценить такие игры в такое тяжёлое время и всяческиЯ сыграл в resident evil village 12 часов и дошёл до финала.     Resident Evil: Village takes the ground work from the seventh part and mixes it together with the very best from the previous Resident Evil titles. It enchants and shocks us at the same time, to the point that we become completely addicted to it. A contemporary classic that sets a new standard, just as Resident Evil 4 once did.

    This is probably the most lovingly crafted Resident Evil game and the best in the entire franchise (although likely nothing will replace RE4 as my favorite). It's like they took the best components of RE4 and the best of RE7 and crafted an amazing and refreshing story to cement it into the RE franchise. Mercenaries mode is in some ways better and more approachable than it was in RE4, 5, or 6.

С самого начала и до конца не могла отделаться от ощущения, что играю в копию Evil within. Диалоги скучные, Итан озвучен на каких-то придыханиях и звучит неестественно (в русской озвучке). Мат в его исполнении звучит неуклюже и смешно. В течении игры с каждой минутой нарастает чувство нереальности происходящего. Будто бегаем под воздействием галлюцинаций. И самое важное, что отличает игру от предыдущей части : она не пугает, не держит в напряжении. Итану или его семье не сочувствуешь, потому что все его действия настолько глупые и нелогичные, что становится смешно.
    Всего игра заняла 11 часов, что очень мало, по сравнению с другими ААА играми, но стандартно конкретно для этой серии. Удовольствия от прохождения не получила, не советую никому приобретать игру - смотрите прохождения.    … Expand

    Capcom is finally going back to their Resident Evil 4 roots aka best era of Resident Evil. Can't praise them enough, so i'm just gonna say thank you! This really means a lot to me, because Resident Evil 4 is my all time favorite game and to be able to experience something similar again, is just amazing. Thank you Capcom!

    un peu differents dans son gameplay que ce dernier en effets on ce rapproche vraiment de RE4 !

    Chris Campaign can only be completed in less than 20 minutes which is misleading. The game was advertised as no loading but yet we have loading screens. Feels more like a generic horror game than a true Resident Evil.

    Good game i liked the visuals and the variety of monsters. The game had some good puzzles and boss fights. Upgrading is better than RE7 with more variety. However, it was not scary at all not once did the game make me jump. If it had RE7 dark atmosphere it would be higher. And a certain area of the game was strange and didnt fit in with the game. The game was a bit easy too.

    Sorry, in meinen Augen war das nichts. Die ersten Stunden machen noch soweit Spaß, aber ab der Hälfte geht die Spannung flöten und die Story wird einfach nur noch lächerlich. Gerade die letzten Stunden sind reines geballer. Das hat dem Ganzen dann noch den Rest gegeben und ich war richtig erleichtert als der Abspann lief. Schade.

Story is very interesting. It does miss some deliveries in some scenes as is the usual with RE games honestly. But this game has a lot really cool stuff to add to the RE lore and story going forward which I loved. The extra content is also plentiful and encouraging to go through.

    All in all. This RE has a plentiful of all the good stuff I and fans of the series probably want in an RE game. Great Horror, exploration, item management, Gunplay, treasure hunts, boss fights, story, shocking and epic moments.

    My actual score of this game is 9/10
    But I give it 10 here cuz metacritic sucks and it's either 0 or 10. They probably should just change it to thumbs up/down lol    … Expand

    It's the same **** all over again. A mix of RE7 and RE4 with an uninteresting story, a lot of meaningless events, fantasy scenarios, generic enemies and boring villains.

    It's fun to play and the graphics are great, but the game, despite clearly trying hard to stand out, ends up being somewhat forgettable.

    The Good:

    * Great graphics in general. There is some LOD issues in the village where occasionally some geometry like buildings switches from low poly to high poly when you're looking right towards it. * Great performance even with maxed out settings in 4k. * Great level design with lots of exploration and optional areas. * Good story (much better than RE7). * Great gameplay.    The Good:

    * Good story (much better than RE7).

    * Didn't notice a single bug other than the LOD issue.

    The Bad:

    * The game economy mainly revolves around upgrading weapons. Some upgrades are down right useless, like 0.1s increased reload speed. If you do most optional stuff you will have an overload of money, which in the end you can only spend on useless upgrades with minimal to no value.

    * Some areas (Windmill and Stronghold) are short and felt rushed which was a bit disappointing. If these two areas had been more fleshed out, the game could have been a bit longer which would have been good since it's only about 11 hours long.

    * Towards the end (Stronghold and onwards), the action is taken way too far. It basically becomes an action shooter instead of a horror game as you expect an enemy behind every corner.

    Verdict:

    The game is basically a mix of RE7 and RE4 (a mix of horror and action shooter) but better than both. Sometimes the action is taken a bit too far for my taste. The game is around 11 hours if you do the optional stuff, so slightly longer than RE7, so it's quite short but I prefer quality over quality. If you like RE7 and the FPS direction you will definitely like this one, just be aware that this game is more action shooter focused.

    Similarly to Resident Evil 4 back in the day, Village will attract a new generation of players and redefine the franchise for the modern age. I guess it’s time to stop looking back and counting on the series to return to its roots. Capcom is well aware of those roots and willingly draws from them to create something new but still infused with Resident Evil’s spirit. Village is not perfect, but neither was RE4, and once again it’s easy to turn a blind eye to the flaws, because overall it’s an amazing game. [07/2021, p.56]

    Resident Evil Village feels like such a culmination. Bringing together elements from the franchise all the way up to now and crafting what looks to be the next step of survival horror, it embraces every aspect of the franchise. While the insidious dread of Resident Evil VII is missing, there are still plenty of scares. The monster designs are fantastic, from the generations undead, the fury of the Lupine beasts, to the towering monstrosities. It's well worth delving into the concept art and 3D models to enjoy them fully. The story is just the right amount of silly with the terrifying, and the odd dash of the surreal. The combat is smooth and fluid, best evidenced in the addictive Mercenaries mode. All of these elements added together make quite possibly the best Resident Evil to date, and a foundation for a fresh new generation of terror.

    RE: Village is a mixture of almost all previous Resident Evil elements, making the most of both survival horror and puzzle intensity, but with the primary stage being left for the more action-like nature of Resident Evil 4. It has some great story moments, sprinkled with a few lacklustre characters that are still overshadowed by its most notable characteristic – most detailed environment to date.
