    There is no place of medieval things like castles, vampires, gargoyles and dragons in the game that calls itself "biohazard" and centered on artificially cultivated pathogens. The game contains no music, no characters, no graphic. Characters here seems like made of clay. Resident Evil 7 had great music, plot, characters, animations. Even graphic in it is    Dark Souls 3 with sniper rifles

    This game is excellent for its atmosphere, its artistic design and its scenario. But some animations sometimes leave a taste of unfinished job, such as driving the boat which does not take into account physics, or when you insert a key in a door (the key floats without a hand).     In my opinion its better than RE7 because it has been improved in every aspect from its previous predecessor but its more of an action game rather than pure horror ( only one section in the game that's pure horror) but other than that the game is really a must play experience for me!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Capcom seems adamant about changing RE's direction. Ignoring the blockbuster success of RE2, they are far more concerned in making a complete overhaul of the RE lore.

    However, as a completely new type of game. It is phenominal. Deserves praise.
    TI am an old school RE fan from the 90s...and this game is the BEST RE GAME SINCE 4(Actually I like it better).

    игру я проходил не спеша и прошел за 7 часов.
    при этом я старался внимательно изучать локации и вникнуться в сюжет. Игра стоит 2000 руб(спасибо что не 2500) за просто игру без ничего и за 7 часов геймплея это как то мало. Надеюсь на dlc    игра конечно прикольная, но все же не идеально.

    At first, I was quite skeptical that this part would be about vampires. But after playing, I can say this is a masterpiece!!! I'm looking forward to the next part.

    combines the best part for resident evil 4 and 7 , But unfortunately, it is not the best mix of both worlds. the doesn't have amazing action and satisfying shooting for 4 and 7 and loses a lot of Steam middle of the game .


    I would say the good game you should try it if you expected something great like 4 and 7 , is not it

    Probably the best game I've ever played. The storyline was amazing. The fact it circled back to previous events in THIS game as well as events in RE7 made it even better. It kept me on my toes the whole time, always wondering what was to come. I'm not a crazy fan of horror/scary, but it just worked so well I didn't even notice. It was the perfect blend of scary, action and thriller. IProbably the best game I've ever played. The storyline was amazing. The fact it circled back to previous events in THIS game as well as events in RE7 made it even better. It kept me on my toes the whole time, always wondering what was to come. I'm not a crazy fan of horror/scary, but it just worked so well I didn't even notice. It was the perfect blend of scary, action and thriller. Sure, the atmospherics were great combining soundtrack with the environment but gameplay is king and that’s wherein the problem lies. Why is it that more and more games are relying on graphics to disguise the lack of quality gameplay ?Oh, what a let down, another game which puts graphics over gameplay. More survival than horror. Serviceable overall gameplay, that is let down by uninteresting boss battles, and clunky overall 'feeling', and mechanics.     Only reason this isnt a 10 for me is because some of the gun play was a little clunky.

    Other than that, I loved every minute of this game. The part of the game that kind of feels like P.T. (if you know, you know) was one of the most (fun?) terrifying moments of game play that ive seen in years, and it takes a lot for me to audibly yell, "OHHHH NOOOO IM OUT!"

    Jogabilidade: A Capcom conseguiu trazer a nostalgia do nosso saudoso RE4 com alguns elementos clássicos como a maleta. Basicamente a jogabilidade é a fusão do RE7 com RE4. Gostei bastante. História: Dessa vez a Capcom conseguiu fazer um Resident Evil que não é apenas um jogo de Tiro a ponto de parecer um “Call of Duty de Armas Biológicas” mas trouxe uma história muito misteriosa e macabra podemos assim dizer. (Me lembrou Sillent Hill em alguns momentos) Gostei demais ! Espero que a Capcom continue evoluindo a qualidade da Saga e não faça downgrades como o RE3 Remake.     Resident evil village was neither a good horror game or a great action game. Capcom has totally dialed down on any horror elements. Only one 20 minute section of village showed real promise as a solid horror game and really harkened back to the much better re7 biohazard. The game was more of a boss gauntlet on wheels. Unfortunately for me the werewolves and vampires did not envoke any fear. All of the main villains are not well done. The sisters and the tall woman are killed of the first hour of the game. The beginning is extremely cutscene heavy for a solid hour and it makes the replayability less. The game is more silly than anything... The ending revelation was shocking and had a good connection to re7. All in all I recommend to Save your money and get re7 if you haven't played it as it's a much better horror game.… Expand

    Resident Evil Village is a very nice game, coming in at around $50. It is absoulutely worth it's price, although the playtime is around 8-11 hours. The game's story is very interesting, and at some points even scare me. While it is a good game, it has it's downsides. First of all, Ethan's character is hateable because of his dumb decisions. Second of all, the dialogue is really well,Resident Evil Village is a very nice game, coming in at around $50. It is absoulutely worth it's price, although the playtime is around 8-11 hours. The game's story is very interesting, and at some points even scare me. While it is a good game, it has it's downsides. First of all, Ethan's character is hateable because of his dumb decisions. Second of all, the dialogue is really well, cringt. Lastly, the game doesnt't make sense at times so you might find yourself confused, atleast for me. Pretty good game, with some downsides.     I would have loved this game if I had not needed to carefully manage my ammo and having played the majority of the resident evil I know this is a trademark of the game series....but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

    We are moving to a place where all games lose their edge to appeal to the masses. This at the cost of daring something and relying on what already worked. Resident evil 8 is not scary for a horror game, while that is it's genre. Stop appealing to the masses I don't want to play the same game in a different color

Because of poor optimization.. 120 hz tv and ps5 still drops down FPS.. in opened scenes with many detailes on the screen. Wtf!?     Bardzo się zawiodłem na Capcomie. Po latach uznali że w Polsce nawet lokalizacja w postaci polskich napisów jednak się nie przyda co mnie rozwścieczyło zwłaszcza że gra to sequel a część 7 była po Polsku. Nie pozdrawiam capcomu i nie polecam do widzenia.

    She is the selling point and goes up and down on 9gag. Nude mods and memes sell this game.

    The rest is weak action horror with a few pretty parts. Nothing more. 6/10

    It is a fact that capcom has managed to make a perfect resident evil game, having an interesting story, a very good gameplay, a great spark of terror and a lot of extra content that is what gives it that special touch without a doubt a game made with love

    Great game. GAMEPLAY. The game could easily be divided in chapters. Some chapters are very similar in gameplay to what is expected from RE. Others are more action heavy. And others are purely stealth and exploration (like PT, you don’t even have guns). In other words, it is not action oriented as other reviews lead you to think. LENGTH. In one play through you will never be walking theGreat game. GAMEPLAY. The game could easily be divided in chapters. Some chapters are very similar in gameplay to what is expected from RE. Others are more action heavy. And others are purely stealth and exploration (like PT, you don’t even have guns). In other words, it is not action oriented as other reviews lead you to think. LENGTH. In one play through you will never be walking the same endless areas nor doing the exact same thing or fighting the same enemies, it is not padded for duration. In my first play through I clocked in at 18 hours. Then played 12 hours to obtain SS rank on Mercenary modes. Then played 40 hours to platinum. Also I spend one more hour enjoying the art and models and clips unlocked on finishing the game. The HIGHLIGHT of the game play is the huge amount of bosses and the enormous enemy variety, great mechanics utilizing PS5 adaptive triggers, ray tracing, HDR, 4K and most of the time 60 fps. All of these make the game a joy to play. As in most Japanese games, there is no political agenda in it, so that is another welcomed point. All in all, a very fun to play, very deep, AAA game.… Expand

    After a very strong beginning, the game gets a bit action orientated in the second half.
    For a playtime of around 9 hours, the amount of action is still okay but the game could have been more spooky (like RE7 for example).

    For a playtime of around 9 hours, the amount of action is still okay but the game could have been more spooky (like RE7 for example).

    Absolutely great presentation! I had a lot of fun with this and definitey recommend it. There were a few things that are a bit irritating in terms of design, as the game treats you as if it wants you to be an action movie hero, but mechanically, doesn't really let you be one. The story feels a bit scattered and unsure of what to be or do, but it's still absolutely worth playing.

    as a long time RE fan i could literally say that capcom has released their most ambitious project ever! DMC5 and RE 7, RE2 remake and RE3 remake wasnt enough, this game just blows all of them out of the window by design and visual perspective, thanks to quixel megascan. Capcom has been killing it lately with all their franchises and im extremely proud to see them grow and make single player games like never before! Good job Capcom!
    And back to the review, RE village takes place in this midevil village with ethan winters once again. i hate ethan, like he is to cliche or just not as interesting as other characters in the RE series like leon, chris, or even carlos. Ethan is just there and he is really boring, but as least his stories were told right and on point especially in this game i just clapped my hands and shed a tear at the end for how beautiful the story was.
    Visually the game looks absolutely great! However i recommend turning RTX off cuz the difference is very minimal and only does a few lighting changes and really takes a chunk on the performance. Just like DMC 5 SE, The RE engine just didnt implement RTX good enough, love em or hate em CPDR did RTX the right way on pc but im not going to get into that in this review.
    Gameplay wise, well the fov is very low and i feel like the guns are right in my face and it even at some degree makes your character move slower when turning so its a bit bummy but you get used to it. and also the sweet variety of weapons and progression items that you collect to sell and make food that permanently boosts your character is such a game changer!
    sound track is spot on! who ever worked on the sound design should get a raise cuz there were levels and times that it was so freaking good i was really scared and also enjoying it at a degree.
    And this might be the longest but now im going to talk about level design. And who ever worked on the benevianto house should make his own game or give us more of that experience cuz i was literally horrified in that level in a way that i havent felt like that since playing amnesia for the first time! like literally That level is my Number 1! as the most scariest thing ever and my number one on puzzle solving and design overall that part of the game is just a pure masterpiece! But also other levels of the game are absolutely well done and full of detail and stuff to do like the castle and the village itself and other places im not going to mention.

    Overall stop reading this review and go buy the game already! I love this game so much i finished it twice and i still want more! Capcom i thank you for publishing such a wonderful masterpiece! everything about this game is very well done! However the only feedback i could give is that i want dismemberment just like dead space had. like for real, why didnt this feature make its way to RE yet? Imagine shooting an enemy with a shotgun and his arm or leg flew off or exploded and he is still after you. How crazy could that be?
    and in the end of this review. go and get it on your system RIght now! and i dare you to tell me you didnt like it! as a fan of the series it still really does stay to its original roots. and characters are very well done overall.    … Expand

    You have no idea what a work of art is !! this game deserves more than that mediocre grade. Capcom has been doing things well since RE 7. so I give it a 10 as it deserves. Play it and you will see that there is tension and terror.

    This game deserves and even higher rating than it got. I loved 7 but this is a step up even from that. So much more to do in this game than I originally thought. Replay value is high in my opinion. Easily one of the best RE games, I’m excited for what’s next.

    Great game, I'm playing hardcore on my first playthrough and I recommend it in hardcore with aim assist on even if the first sections are really tough specially the first huge encounter.     As someone who isn’t an avid horror game player, I thoroughly enjoyed this game from beginning to end, and every other playthrough I’ve done. I wasn’t sure if I’d end up liking the game when I first got it but it easily tops my list of games from the past year. Everything from the story to the worldbuilding and atmosphere was done so well and I still keep replaying for extras.

    Resident Evil Village identifies itself again not only as a survival horror like Resident Evil 7, but also a adventure shooter. To have several elements comparable to Resident Evil 4 is high praise to this chapter of the franchise. The ending's plot twist is amazing in itself!

My favorite character was lady Dimitrescu, she was amazingly built and made had you on the edge of your seat in every chase scene. The house Beneviento basement part was amazing the horror aspect and the suspense was great .I do feel that heisenberg's level was out of place tho... he is a good character but his factory didnt go with the me devil feel of the game and neither dod his machinery.… Expand

I believe this will appeal to old and new fans alike, there are jump scares, backtracking, greatCapcom delivered big time with this one. The combat, graphics, enemy variety, weapon upgrade system, level of exploration and open-worldness, were all just simply put, Awesome. That being said why the game was “almost perfect” was because they could have done so much more with the games puzzles. They were just way too easy and there were just not enough of them. Removing the ability to backtrack to essential locations (i.e the castle, the reservoir) was also exceedingly frustrating during my first playthrough. Hopefully capcom learns and makes the changes for 9, but these small misses don’t change the fact that this game is an absolute titan. Do yourself a favor, buy the game and play it.     i think capcom doesnt know to how to end resident evil village.because since we go to heisenberg factory it wasnt a resident evil horor game.it was a 1st person shooter like wolfenestein series.but capcom could to writing a good foreground for re9.

Aiming is still not the series' strong point, but at least we can see that Capcom became a company that cherishes its own traditions.

In an over the top, almost silly at times. game that can still actually scare me every now and then. From the start where Ethan's life seems to be going well, to having him lose fingers, happens within about 20 minutes. Ethan is sent to Romania with his wife Mia and his new born baby Rose, but is quickly set back to a terrible sticky mess that he, and his poor hands, have to get though to save his daughter. You're thrown to the wolves quickly and literally with your only "friend" The Merchant Duke to help you. The tall vampire Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, Fish Lord Salvatore Moreau, Puppet Master Donna Beneviento with her puppet Angie, and Karl Heisenberg as the four lords are all interesting, intimating, and most importantly just good old scary. The lords are mirrored with references to a story book Mia reads to Rose, and classics such as Dracula, The Island Of Doctor Moreau, Frankenstein, and The Wolfman (and potentially the invisible man in Ms. Beneviento). Each of these lords naturally have their own areas and bosses to traverse. Most of which it is almost sad to defeat these bosses and progress due to their charm and lore. The gameplay itself is a lot like RE7 but you have more room to move since you're not stuck in a house this time. I never felt too overwhelmed, apart from a few times where there just seems to be a few to many enemies that can take a lot of punishment to defeat and a truly horrifying sight within a basement. The player begins exploring the village before moving on to boss areas. The village has its own little details, secrets, and puzzles that really show the effort and love the team put in. Much to the credit of RE8's marketing team we are all excited to know big vampire momma is the first boss area we explore. Her castle is incredibly beautiful and highly detailed. Right down to the portraits of the ladies and a missing tube of lipstick. The castle itself has a lot of secret areas with a lot of notes so don't feel pressured to get out of there too fast, there's so much to do. Next is Donna Beneviento and her dolls! This area is the most effective in terms of horror content and player discomfort. Be prepared to go at this without any weaponry, and rely on your speed and eye for detail. My girlfriend found this area particularly horrifying due to her fear of dolls and puppets, at some points even covering her eyes while I sped through, which only proves how impactful the area is as she is a huge horror fan. Third is the creature of the lagoon's area, Moreau. He is the least appreciated of the 4 lords and might be the one the player has the most sympathy for. Moreau just wants to impress his mother after all. However, while the area is pretty simple to traverse (minus a VERY large enemy at the start), his boss fight can be incredibly difficult due to his poison damage. Before finally heading off to Heisenberg and his factory, the player is first sent to a Lycan stronghold which has an overwhelming amount of enemies but not without its charms. The factory is the final area before end game. Heisenberg is a very well written character as well as excellently acted by Neil Newbon. While a fascinating boss, the factory is a pain to get through. It has a confusing layout with a lot of turn arounds. Before finally facing the final boss there is a section where you play as Chris Redfield which is very entertaining and easier due to his massive amounts of ammo. There are puzzles all throughout, however for the most part they're pretty simple to solve. Each one looks very intricate and detailed but not a big obstacle. There's a bit of exploration to do in RE8 if you wanna take the time to look but nothing that dampens the story. Overall the two playthroughs I've done so far of RE8 were fun and scary with great villains, fun gameplay, and a story that kept me interested the whole time. Some people may not like the combo of RE4 and RE7, but it feels like the devs put a lot of love and work in which does not go unappreciated. In addition, there's no microtransactions, or DLC's so far!… Expand

    It is an excellent game all around. Level design is awesome and graphical details are awesome; top marks there. I played it at night time, alone, in the dark, on a PS5 with a Samsung QLED 50" 4K.     The main bone I have to pick here is that they turned up the action at certain times while turning down the puzzles and the need for a strategic approach overall.

    Not sure why I remember the classic RE games being more puzzle-focused and strategy. It might be just me, but today I think they should try to go more towards RPG style of action and build, and focus more on strategy, and puzzles; and they definitely need to work on the story/lore.

    Gameplay was alright for the most part, at times it felt almost like a parent (bad guys) tripping intentionally when playing "catch me if you can" with their child (protagonist).

When he tries to talk tough to the bosses it sounds hilarious, it just doesn't match the fact that Ethan still shakes in fear when an enemy is nearby, especially since going through military training and having the mold still exist inside him for healing properties.

    - There is a lack of good guy character interaction, throughout the game, you see Chris maybe 3 times, but don't really talk to anyone else, except the shop keeper or rival bosses.
    -Some low barriers that are impassable.

    Brilliant! In my opinion I think this is one of the best in the series. Loved 7 and was hyped for this to release. Was not let down at all. Thank you for such a cool extension to the series!

    Very nice game, although i haven't play any of the other resident evil games i like this one a lot. Varied environments, lots of enemy diversity and great pacing

    If you haven't beaten RE7 Bio-hazard then i'd say go play that first because this is a literal continuation of the story from the previous game. Now first off id like to say i really enjoyed the game-play, it really reminds me of RE4. Guns are plentiful and ammo for the most part is easy to come by, so saving ammo like most Resident Evil games is kinda pointless, because of a vendor inIf you haven't beaten RE7 Bio-hazard then i'd say go play that first because this is a literal continuation of the story from the previous game. The map is a mad house and always something cool to find if you go and explore a little. The enemy variety is pretty good and they do a good job of randomizing them in different places so your not fighting the same type of enemy one after the other. Also if you thought the first game was to scary than this is for you i didn't find this scary once not even a little its more cheap scares than horror so don't go into this thinking you'll be scared off your chair or anything. Now the only problem I had was one time when the game about froze, but besides that this game runs like a dream. So to finish this off id like to say that i really recommend this game to people that have played the last game.… Expand

    THE GAMEPLAY AND PROGRES Is extremely linear and I know that you    Resident Evil Village is a Good game but a Bad Resident Evil game?
    Resident Evil (RE) has being a long-lasting franchise that captivated gamers with its puzzles, exploration, survival, and horror but over the years it has lost its charm and has made an increase of low-quality Resident Evil Games like Resident Evil Village.
    THE GAMEPLAY AND PROGRES
    Is extremely linear and I know that you may be confuse so let me explain, being linear is not a bad thing but it's bad for Resident Evil games, everything that you need to progress the story is given to you, the fist key (and key is code word for puzzle item, I don’t want to mention what they are for spoiler sake) is given to you after escaping lady Dimitrescu then all of the keys for the door puzzle are also given to you after every boss battle specially when after defeating one of the daughters they give you a fake key to replace the real key because if you try to leave the room with the real key the door closes and you need to replace the fake with the real to leave the room. In a good RE game you would have come across the room while exploring the castle, take the key, realized that the door closes and your stuck, put back the key, and looked for another key or a fake key or a way to solve the puzzle. what made RE games interesting was the way you can play the game at your own pace and solve the puzzle in the order in which you found the items by exploring. You are given a clear objective like in Resident Evil 1 (RE1) to find your friends in the mansion but the game did not tell you were and how, you needed to explore and figure things out or in Resident Evil 2 remake (RE2R) were you need to escape the police station, you explore and find a way out, but in RE8 things are just given to you, you don't explore lady Dimitrescu castle to find the keys, they just give them to you at the end of a boss fight or at the end of a scripted sequence (something you cannot avoided or change) . This removes the fun of finding new things and using your deductive skills to figure out where things go and what to do, RE8 fails on the gameplay par of exploration
    EXPLORING THE MAP
    Is a major part of the RE games but RE8 gives you the illusion of exploration when there is nothing there. Exploration is rewarding the player for living the main area and looking for something new or useful outside the main quest, RE8 does not provide this , if you look at every map location in RE8 you will notice that every location in the map is a story section there is not location that you can explore or a new area that you haven’t being too during the story except for the docks, path to Heisenberg, and the musician house, but these are all in the story path too. There is even an achievement for completing the map but remember by the end of the game you have seen everything. the reason why exploration was important and fun in RE games was because 1. usefully items that may help you in the game or key side quest items that lead to good loot 2. the puzzle to solve and backtrack to previous locations to explore new area and 3. When you went out to explore there is always a chance that an enemy that you did not killed attacks you while exploring/backtracking. in RE1 you can miss getting the shotgun because you need a fake shotgun that is inside of a secret room which needs a special key to open but then you later find the shotgun so you have to replace it with the fake because of you don’t once you leave the room with the shotgun the roof caves in and you die, or in RE2 Remake where you can miss extra bag pack slots by not opening the safes or miss gun upgrades by not solving the puzzles, you can even miss an entire extra gun while being in the police station which in my fist playthroughs I did miss the gun but RE8 proves none of this risk reward exploration and the only thing you get for exploring is money, no items for future section, no special guns, just money for the Duke
    SURVIVAL HORROR
    Inventory is fundamental to RE games but in village they miss the gameplay purposed of the inventory system. The inventory system lets you do is create tension and choice to the player on resource management, do I take more heling erbs but if I do Then I don't have amo or do I take a shotgun which takes up more space in my backpack or play it safe and leave that space empty for collecting items these create tension and decision making at the players playstyle and choice to survey but RE8 does not have this, it could all have being fixed if you did not put resources as a separate category as items because you can have unlimited herbs for crafting and still have space in your bag pack because it does not affect you bag pack space, I have never had to make the choice in RE8 to consume one of my herbs to make space or leave behind amo because my bag pack is full
    FINAL VERTIC Resident Evil Village is not a bad game but it’s a bad Resident Evil game, you should play it at some point when the game is $40    … Expand

    Solid 9. Essentially a masterpiece. It will eventually be regarded as better than 7 and 4. Giving it a 10 to offset haters

    Similarly to Resident Evil 4 back in the day, Village will attract a new generation of players and redefine the franchise for the modern age. I guess it’s time to stop looking back and counting on the series to return to its roots. Capcom is well aware of those roots and willingly draws from them to create something new but still infused with Resident Evil’s spirit. Village is not perfect, but neither was RE4, and once again it’s easy to turn a blind eye to the flaws, because overall it’s an amazing game. [07/2021, p.56]

    Resident Evil Village feels like such a culmination. Bringing together elements from the franchise all the way up to now and crafting what looks to be the next step of survival horror, it embraces every aspect of the franchise. While the insidious dread of Resident Evil VII is missing, there are still plenty of scares. The monster designs are fantastic, from the generations undead, the fury of the Lupine beasts, to the towering monstrosities. It's well worth delving into the concept art and 3D models to enjoy them fully. The story is just the right amount of silly with the terrifying, and the odd dash of the surreal. The combat is smooth and fluid, best evidenced in the addictive Mercenaries mode. All of these elements added together make quite possibly the best Resident Evil to date, and a foundation for a fresh new generation of terror.

    RE: Village is a mixture of almost all previous Resident Evil elements, making the most of both survival horror and puzzle intensity, but with the primary stage being left for the more action-like nature of Resident Evil 4. It has some great story moments, sprinkled with a few lacklustre characters that are still overshadowed by its most notable characteristic – most detailed environment to date.
