    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sorry but I have to be honest... this is the best shooting game I have probably played in decades. Scoring less than RE3!?? Laughable. This is twice as good. I KNOW THE MICROTRANSACTION debacle is suuuuper greedy, gross, and plain out rude. I know the CUT CONTENT is atrocious. I know the humor is left for more seriousness. I know ADA sounds like she’s holding her nose closed. I know adding the handcannon to mercenaries soooo easily win-able is a SLAP in the face to people who grind at these games for rewards... ALL that said... does that really mess with the CORE gameplay!?? NOPE!! The aiming is buttery smooth.. there are tons of enemies, a few good jump scares, amazing crafting and sorting and treasures to find... there are so many bosses.. like at least 8... and number one... THEY MAKE THE HUD DISAPPEAR!! Sooooooo many games like Atomic Heart and Dead Island 2 HAAAAVE to have the HUD up and it’s sooo immersion breaking. The motion capture is great, the lip sync capture is the world’s WORST, I only encountered 2 glitches with enemies falling up back onto a balcony.. love the sidequests though they’re pretty cheesy and simple. The puzzles were great. Played HARDCORE my first time and spent 37 HOURS taking it all in trying to find every treasure. Beats Dead Space and Horizon FW in some rights... totally addicted for 3 weeks.. people crying or whining about difficulty need to just play on standard or assisted... chalk it up and go home to mommy. HARDCORE was PERFECTLY balanced. Took me 5 times for chainsaw man, 2 times for the fish, probably 8 times for the chainsaw sisters, 10 times for the bladed brutes, 5 times for the Verdugo, 2, 5, 2, 2 times for Krauser encounters, about 15 tries at Salazar, and finally TWICE for Saddler. I LIKE THAT!!! No cheats, only a tiny bit research for two bosses, that’s it. That’s the way a game is supposed to be made. It’s like a movie but you’re in it. Who cares about the first game? Not me? I played like 10 hours of it when I was 17? Pfft. Just buy it now or on sale and take it all in, you’ll love it!!… Expand

    Stop giving 0's to this game you freakin' bots. RE4 remake hits almost perfection as the original did in 2005 . You people are clearly nostalgic and frustrated by changes.You should do nothing but play your dusty old consoles with no right to give opinions about anything.

    May not be the scariest in the Resident Evil franchise. But it does fully embrace the B-movie camp, from the 2005 original. Making this a joy to play through, and another win for Capcom:)

    This game was absolutely fantastic. I am truly, genuinely baffled by some of the negative reviews of this game. It must be trolling or something. I had an absolute blast and the only real criticism would be that mercenaries isn’t getting added until next month, and separate ways is going to be DLC in the future. When it originally released back in 2005 it was ahead of its time, and now they took that amazing game and made it even better. The atmosphere they created in this game will leave you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Its just long enough that after completing it you’ll wanna go back with all you upgraded guns in NG+ and try to get a higher rank then your last play through and hopefully unlock some stuff you didn’t the first time around. Giving you a game that has top notch replayability. If your into horror or action games, then do yourself a favor and stop reading these reviews and go play this game immediately!!… Expand

    As a Resident Evil fan, I pre-ordered this game.I'll tell you right away, it's the best remake of this series. Graphics, gameplay, Taptic feedback on PS5. That was the best time of my life. Ashley no longer has a strip of health and can be told to move away so that she doesn't get into the thick of fighting.

Ремейк тоже очень порадовал, всё стало еще лучше, единственный минус на мой взгляд, это упущенная возможность более подробно рассказать историю жителей деревни, замка, этого культа и т.д. через записки и окружение, очень мало таких историй. В остальном все круто, рекомендую!Играл в РЕ 4 еще на ПС 2, очень понравилось тогда.     In a cringe post last of us world where everything has to be immersive and realistic. It is so refreshing to be back round house kicking and back flipping I miss the over the top resident evil games like 4/5/6. This is perfect.

This game blew the RE2 remake out of the water, and THAT game was considered a masterpiece. I love every square inch of this game, to where I’m now wanting to play the original to see how it compares (all the way through this time).     If you are scrolling through the user score, you will have already realized that RE4 is the most loved and hated title in the saga. I think it's worth checking out this reinvention that from my point of view does it justice and brings the original 2005 title back to our time. it's pretty good.

    A very interesting take of the plot of RE4 , rather taking a way more serious tone , the characters are less campy and more insecure. I definitely like this change since its only natural to be more scared and insecure in a location full of insane crazy creatures. The gameplay is improved upon and I absolutely love the pary system.     Having played teh hell out of the OG ps2 version. This is quite a remaster. Quite the modernization as well. Back then, the controls were clunky, but here it is quite smooth. You wish you had a few things gameplay wise back then, and here you have them. The Story remains true, but the path taken has changed. Some cut content has been made compared to the original. New weapons been added, a crafting system that really really helps out when the ammo drops are poor and you really need it. Wish they got the original VA for the merchant, but hey. I give it a 9 and not a 10 cause I have two main gripes: Leon is extremely heavy and slow, which can be tedious at times. And the voice acting is mediocre, especially Ada's. She sounds old, bored and dead inside. But the game is really cool and looks fantastic. I'm just notGreat job from Capcom who prove they are among the best at remakes.     i Love the original Re4 but I loved it even more because there was a remake of RE4 this 2023 many new things like leon became more handsome ..especially Ashley. the place has improved but a lot has been lost in the original that is not in the remake. Another thing is that re4 is more scary and difficult now compared to the previous re4.more brutal btw congrats CAPCOM .

    Gameplay and story feel improved and some characters were expanded upon. I also love the atmosphere compared to the original, And another thing I liked was that it feels improved in most ways while not replacing the original from 2005 although this remake has surpassed the original for me.

Foi feito com muito carinho e a Capcom merece os parabéns por esse Remake que finalmente está fiel a sua obra original, diferente do Resident Evil 3 remake, o residente Evil 4 remake está excelente e muito fiel então vale muito a pena você comprar o jogo porque tenho certeza que você não vai se arrepender. Para ficar perfeito só tá faltando lançarem o separate ways espero que venha logo mais porque é a única coisa que está faltando nesse remake a visão da Ada nesse jogo. Para quem está sentindo falta do inimigo u3 fique tranquilo porque ele deve aparecer na campanha da Ada, o inimigo u3 não fazia muito sentido na campanha principal, ele era um inimigo muito aleatório na campanha original e agora na campanha do remake faz muito mais sentido a linha do tempo que criada pela Capcom onde os inimigos tem um lote maior e mais detalhado e bem explicado e u3 não fazia parte disso então ele foi um excelente corte um acerto da Capcom.… Expand

    RE4 Remake is exactly how I expected it to be, with its vast control and graphics improvements to the welcoming changes o it´s overall level design and deeper storytelling. Presentation: Graphically it can be as demanding as you want on PC, still on Xbox Series X and PS5 looks fantastic all the way. We also got redesigns for every character and    AN ABSOLUTE BLAST AS THE 1ST TIME!!!

    RE4 Remake is exactly how I expected it to be, with its vast control and graphics improvements to the welcoming changes o it´s overall level design and deeper storytelling.
    Presentation: Graphically it can be as demanding as you want on PC, still on Xbox Series X and PS5 looks fantastic all the way. We also got redesigns for every character and enemy (and ally) in game which makes some of your worst OG RE4 nightmares even worse. Great QoL improvements on menus, and a more coherent level design and a better connection between levels, makes this new experience as fresh and excellent as the OG.
    Story: While there is technically no changes on the story, it is great to see much deeper character development on some underrated faces, Ashley included. The way it is all presented in the new cutscenes makes much more sense rather than reading all the lore notes, which are still part of the game but they are more of complementary content rather that primarily, so the story is well explained throughout the game. Also there is definitely more punch in certain cutscenes that stand for more common and deeper human emotions.
    Gameplay: is just gratifying!! Movement has definitely much more weight just as we saw on past REmakes, adding some extras to make the whole experience fresher and edgy (in a good way). Modern controls feel ad hoc, responsive and more accessible to newcomers. The crouching stealth mechanic feels nice and intriguing as you can perform stealth executions with gory animations, and it doesn´t feel like i breaks the game´s pace. But if you want a more action-oriented experience, the parry mechanic is there for you (at a price). Parrys are so exciting to perform and the emergency stabs as QTEs are really satisfying but like I said it comes at a price: knifes´ durability (which you can overcome if you complete a certain side quest). Also, Ashley is waaaaay less annoying and more useful this time.
    Audio: Excellent overall, despite the voice actor changes. Thou Ada Wong´s voice feels a bi bland. The SFX had been improved significally and every firearm has a ton of punch! Every SFX feels gruesome, gory, and satisfying all the way from start to finish. The OST is simply as good as before and if you prefer to get the OG OST and sounds, I highly recommend you get the Deluxe edition!!!
    Content Quantity and Replay value: There is a ton of things to pick on the story as well to unlock after your first playthrough, a ton of exciting side quest which include simple fetch quests to optional formidable foes!! There is also a bunch of exploration, interesting puzzles for treasure hunt, so basically the game begs you to replay it a ton of times so you can get that precious Rank S+.

    Verdict: ER4 is my favorite RE of all time and his time, it´s remake makes it feel on par or better than the OG due to all its improvements and welcoming changes. It would be an understatement that this game is well crafted i it is a modern masterpiece just like the OG. Every aspect of this game made me feel like playing RE4 for the first time, just like back in 2005 so I have no complaints on squeezing it´s juice as much as I can.
    Also, the money for the DLC of this game is already spent!! Hope we see the Mercenaries and Separate Ways being added soon as it will be my perfect excuse to keep playing his game for months.    … Expand

    Best remake Capcom have ever made, the dynamic between Leon and Ashley got a lot better, wich means they actually seam to care about each other now, grapichs are good, and of course the gameplay in my opinion is awesome, although I read some reviews saying that Leon is slow, but I had no problem with that even playing first in the intense mode, maybe they're just bad at the game. There'sBest remake Capcom have ever made, the dynamic between Leon and Ashley got a lot better, wich means they actually seam to care about each other now, grapichs are good, and of course the gameplay in my opinion is awesome, although I read some reviews saying that Leon is slow, but I had no problem with that even playing first in the intense mode, maybe they're just bad at the game. There's also those who hate remakes and love the original one and think he's better at everything, but if you carefully look at the original one, there a couple things that are kind of cheesy, like Leon diverting lasers and Ashley geting trapped in a wall. Don't get me wrong, I love the original one but the remake can explore those ideas with a different perspective, it's like playing the same game from 2005 but everything is different, and it's one of the most wonderful feelings I have ever had.… Expand

For fans of the 2005 original, it spices up just about everything you know, while bringing a modern, less clunky, control scheme to the table, the experience feels like very fresh retelling of a classic, that I’d argue is possibly even better than the original. But for some, nostalgia means everything. However, the same thing is true for the previous remake as well. And for people who haven’t played the original, it does a fantastic job of telling the same story, without feeling predictable. Some have complained that a certain spy’s voice acting isn’t up to par, however that’s a matter of preference. Personally, I don’t mind the new VA, but she can sound flat at times. Nothing to much to complain about though. This series has had way worse voice acting. Of the 4 remakes made so far, if you had to play any of them, make it be this one.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t leave reviews but with the overwhelming amount of brain dead discord moderator **** virgins who want to leave fake reviews and complain they can’t see pixilated panties in this new remake of RE4.
    The game is honestly an almost well polished faithful reimagining of the classic 2005 release of Resident Evil 4. The atmosphere and tone to the game leaves me feeling suspense and dread from the dungeons of the castle when you fight your first Garrador all the way to the laboratory filled with grotesque terrifying Regeneradors. With heart racing action packed set pieces that are way more balanced than the over abundance of enemies in the original. The island section of the game definitely got toned down from the OG which is something I’m so happy for because the original island section was the worst part of the game with nothing but filler and randomness that left a sour taste in my mouth. With the remake only really keeping two sections from the OG with heavy action and I’m 100% okay with that. Yes I am disappointed that they cut U3 in favor of renaming other enemies as UII & UIII. U3 was the most terrifying boss in the classic but he did serve as filler in the original so I can see why they would cut him from the game but I am holding out hope maybe he will make a return in the DLC for Separate Ways. Which brings me to my next gripe about the game and that is the cut side content (Separate Ways, Assignment Ada, Mercenaries). I know mercenaries will be in the game as free DLC on April 7th but it honestly should have been in the game on launch day but I can live without it for a couple weeks. Now with Separate Ways/Assignment Ada, these were completely cut from the game and as of right now Capcom has yet to confirm these as future DLC but with the help of data miners they have uncovered the files for Separate Ways so at least we know as of right now it’s about a 99% chance we will be getting that. Unfortunately it will probably be behind a paywall probably $20-$40. That is honestly a major L for capcom to release a RE4 Remake without all of the added content at launch. But the game alone makes up for it with how replayable the game is. The added challenges to the bonus shop and character customizations and a bunch of different challenge runs to really test your skills as a player. I’m not one to really use costumes in my Resident Evil games and I really don’t like that they added animal parts with special abilities (infinite ammo, extra knife damage, increase kick damage) I really don’t want to add cat ears and fox tails to Leon because it’s too goofy and makes you look like a furry. The game faithfully remade RE4 by keeping about 90% of the main campaign but expanding those areas to reach that 100% potential. The way they fleshed out Luis in the game and made him more involved in the story. You fighting Krauser in two separate knife only hand to hand combats and then fighting him in his mutated form. Ashley getting an overhaul where she isn’t as annoying as the original and she actually has amazing character development and grows as a person. I would love to see her return in a future title as an agent as she mentioned in the ending of the game. Now we get to Ada as a character… yes I wasn’t a fan of the VA, Capcom has an issue of not using the same VAs for their games. It’s like using the VA for Chris Redfield in Village, it’s the same VA as Carlos in RE3R. I don’t like how they manage their VAs for characters. Ada sounds too nasally with a clump in her throat. But she isn’t in the game for very much so it’s not going to hinder my review score for this. The combat feeling amazing with every gun sounding and feeling incredible. The parry mechanic being such an amazing addition to the game. Making you feel like a badass once you get the hang of it and being able to deflect anything in half a second making it muscle memory. I see people complaining that the aiming is too hard or the game is too difficult and for that, honestly it’s a skill issue. You need to practice it, you’re not going to be good at the game as soon as you pick up the controller. You have to adapt to the new play style of this REMAKE. if you want the original then go play the original and stop crying over stupid fake reasons. I only ran into one graphical error where the floor was not rendered in the courtyard and in the beginning of chapter 13 of the island. Restarted the game and they were back in and never saw that happen again. Only one frame drop issue in the area where Leon drops down in the underground spike trap area but that never happened to me again. The game runs fine and phenomenally on new gen systems and PC. If you’re having issues on your PS4 then honestly that’s the hardware you’re playing on
    Oh and if you’re mad you can’t see Ashley’s panties in the remake, go touch some grass and just go watch Ashley on Rule34 or wait for the nude mods you basement dwellers    … Expand

I will admit there were a few things the original did better then the remake. My favorite part of the game so far though, the stealth mechanic. Being able to sneak around the blind berserkers and knife um in the back, so satisfying. The changes to the boss fights were very interesting. They felt similar enough for me to understand what I needed to do and yet, at the same time. It was different enough to throw me off. Except for the fight with Salazar... That was very different, a little disappointed that we didn't get the transformation sequence for him but mehh. Honestly, my biggest complaint really, was the voice of Wesker. They've literally gotten a new voice for wesker every game Can we have DC Douglas back when they do RE5… Expand

Having played the original I did miss some parts and lines, but the amount of content and work put into this game is amazing. You can parry incoming axes, arrows, you can roundhouse kick or suplex following the prompt after a nice head shot. The sound is amazing, you can hear flashbangs echo through the room, the soundtrack and they even bring back parts of the original soundtrack. Theres so many things you can do like side quests or even challenges that will definitely leave you frustrated but with satisfaction after completing. This game requires multiple playthroughs especially on hardest difficulties to get the true experience. Highly recommend. P-S this game is hard until you get the hang of it.… Expand

This game is a remake of the beloved classic from 2004, it takes what re4 did and replicates it in many ways, making it familiar but different. Like all games it won't be for everyone, and like all remakes we could persist with the debate of if the game even needed the remake treatment in the first place. But from the terrifying regenerators turning into iron maidens or the tower in the village collapsing in a surprising moment. This remake has twists and turns I never expected, and yes it has cuts but in their place are other things. This game is not a replacement for the game we loved or hated back in 2004 its a game to stand alongside it and be an alternative for those who want an updated or different experience. We shouldn't be throwing shade at capcom for one decision or another so early in the games launch, with mercenaries on the way, and separate ways still just speculation and rumors, there's so much more to put these bad reviews to shame, or even prove myself wrong. But I'm here for it, what's important to me is this game is a ton of fun and occupies my free time with carnage, horror, one liners, and a 80's b movie style story that I love to bits. It's everything a remake should aspire for! the story is much better; they deepened some of the side characters's stories and interactions with Leon (Ashley's being my favourite). If you aren't familiar with the franchise, Shinji Mikami (RE4 creator), even said that he wanted the devs in charge of the remake to change the story and make it better. (spoiler: they did)

    Additionally, the boss fights have improved a lot and are way more epic than in the OG game (Krauser and Saddler's are undoubtedly the best boss fights in the remake and surpass the ones in the OG). People complain a lot regarding some parts being removed and believe me, as a hardcore resi fan that has played the OG games plenty of times, I can assure you that you won't feel that something's missing. Capcom did an amazing job by replacing certain parts that didn't make it to the remake (laser hall, Salazar's statue, U3 fight) with others that make more sense and feel more cohesive in terms of design and environment. The aspect that I absolutely adore about this remake is how they explored Leon's trauma after all that happened in Raccoon City. He's still that playful guy from the OG game, but way more human and professional. You can see how he struggles with the fact that he couldn't do much to save people in RC, so that's why he wants things to be different this time. I thought nothing could ever top RE2 Remake, but I was wrong. If you're more of an action-oriented game person, definitely give it a try!    … Expand

There are some notable changes to some parts to the story, but nothing that takes away from the game or effects it in a negative way.     Such changes are the exclusion of the U - 3 boss fight, the run a away truck section right before the castle. The PRLS has been removed as well.

    New additions to the game are the charms, that add buffs like 8% faster walk speed, that can be earned in the shooting range mini games. There is also a new weapon called the bolt thrower which has retrievable ammo. Resident Evil 4 remake has no lack of unlockable content either. over a dozen accessories and Ashley's iconic armor set. The hand cannon makes a return, this time by being unlocked by beating pro mode on a new save, much easier unlock this time around.

    Mercenaries comes out in about a week, so there will be no lack of content for RE4 fans. Luis is being added to the mode. Seperate Ways DLC has been datamined so it will be released at a later date.

    My only real complaint about the game is Ada Wong's lack luster voice actor. but that is a small complaint.

    Ive read other reviews and I don't see how people think the game is so hard, it is considerably easier then the original game. I had no issues on normal mode, actually the game felt to easy. But I guess some people just can't handle a good game.

This literally isn’t overhype, I genuinely feel as if this game perfectly nails its direction, atmosphere, tone, and characters. It’s a 10/10 for me now, I’m genuinely happy with this game. It’s literally turning iconic characters into even more iconic characters. At first, I was a little blinded by my disdain towards RE4 (2005), and despite my hype, I was very skeptical of it — but rest assured, Resident Evil 4 Remake is. It’s literally gotten rid of everything that I didn’t like about the original RE4, and also update things that didn’t necessarily make sense in the OG (like the annoying bug enemies going invisble, now they’re only capable of camouflage.) The game has AWESOME combat that makes Leon & YOU feel badass. It still keeps the headshot into roundhouse kick gameplay loop, but with a fluid animation that seams perfectly back into fast & epic gameplay, it NEVER grows as repetitive as it does in OG RE4. And c’mon — parrying?! This mechanic alone accounts for 7/10 points for the game, it is literally perfect. I’ve had many cool moments with it. Shooting a ganado in the head, hearing the phrase “Detrás de ti, imbécil,” and quickly turning around into a parry has to be one of the coolest memories. Or when I perfect parried an attack, which grants a melee opportunity, kicked the ganado onto a wall, and then ran up and stabbed his neck. Every individual fight feels raw & intense, it’s such a **** FUN game. And the story? Hella great! Good guys like Luis, Ashley, Hunnigan, and Leon himself have seen major updates to their character. Leon’s story has become more believable, with him not being “the President’s most trusted friend,” but literally the ONLY option the president has — due to a major scandal, caused by Krauser. Despite this, Leon is really gentle. When he saves the dog, instead of going on about his day, he goes “Take care, buddy.” It’s such a gentle touch to his character, that it makes you recall that rookie cop in RE2, something that the OG RE4 fails to do, imo. The game really overhauled him. Ashley got a similar treatment, gradually learning to stand out on her own & fight to survive, with an overhauled section that doesn’t actually suck. Luis?! My god, I don’t know if I have enough characters left to explain HOW MUCH I LOVE LUIS IN THIS REMAKE. I couldn’t have cared less for his death in the OG, but as the game went on, and Leon & Luis team up, that feeling of knowing his fate came upon me … and I cared for him. This game made me actually care about what RE4’s story, its characters, and most of all — they gave the merchant a personality. 10/10.… Expand

    Best game for a while!!
    I play some of original re4 it just an okay game for me though due to the goofy tone that I personally unlike but with this remake it just an entire new perspective of the game it serious , scary and great action it even have a great replay value with game design pretty recommended for who still hesitate this will be a great experience for you.

    The story of the game is a mediocre story, the gameplay is very enjoyable and attractive, in terms of visuals, it is equal to Cross Gen 2023 games and has a stunning visual, the main boss fights are very similar to each other. The sound design of the game is wonderful, the enemies have a good variety and only one new type of enemy has been added to the remake compared to the original version.

    Resident Evil 4 Remake not only does right by its original source of inspiration, but it also sets a high bar for what modern day remakes can be. All components of the story have been finetuned into a more well-thought out package, and that’s before mentioning the game’s full use of today’s graphical prowess to deliver a more terrifying interpretation of rural Spain. The core gameplay also retains what made it so great back in the day, but with modern amenities such as a parrying system, quick-select for weapons and the ability to run. And despite the new improvements, the increased aggressiveness of the enemies ensures that the game never feels like a cakewalk. I don’t know who still needs to be convinced at this point, but Resident Evil 4 is a masterpiece that I cannot recommend enough.
