    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is AMAZING!!! Battle are hard and keep me alert at all times. And seeing Varl die made me cry SO MUCH. I have cried so much during this game and have felt SOOOO connected to Horizon Forbidden West. I love how the NPC will distract other less dangerous enemies while your fighting the big one like in the Tremor Tusk fight where the NPC you’re with focuson the cult, you attack the Tremor Tusk. Also the game is BEAUTIFUL and you should know I been playing it on PS4 Pro and still beautiful as hell. Also I LOVE how it references the DLC and characters from side mission in Zero Dawn. Like this game gives those characters more meaning now :) Definitely worth $70 and more :) me personally I preorder the Collector Edition because I enjoy Zero Dawn that much and Forbidden West is my first collector edition ever and don’t regret it AT ALL :) I love it and 100% recommend both Horizon Zero Dawn, The DLC and Horizon Forbidden West :)… Expand

    Forbidden West is a triumph of story and gaming. It is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played, and one of the few where I always have the audio on, always listen to dialog, and enjoy the side quests as much as the main mission (not just do them for loot). The only reason not to play Forbidden West right now, is if you haven't played Zero Dawn yet, in which case I would actuallyForbidden West is a triumph of story and gaming. It is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played, and one of the few where I always have the audio on, always listen to dialog, and enjoy the side quests as much as the main mission (not just do them for loot). The only reason not to play Forbidden West right now, is if you haven't played Zero Dawn yet, in which case I would actually recommend that first as the story is wonderful and following it all the way through is worth it.… Expand

    Guerilla Games delivered an open world masterpiece with this game. This is interactive 3D story telling at its best. At least if you’re not forcing the player to progress in the story like so many games out there.     Currently 55 hours in, just finished the main story but still plenty more left to do. Overall a fantastic sequel to HZD! Definitely a must buy if you enjoyed the first game. Excited to see what Guerrilla does next! Thank you to the devs that brought us this adventure!
    Story, characters, animation, and the world itself were all 10/10.
    Performance-wise, I only noticed a couple of small bugs    Currently 55 hours in, just finished the main story but still plenty more left to do. Overall a fantastic sequel to HZD! I only took a point off because I found the recovery animations during combat rather ruthless, would be nice to be able to customise how fast you can get up as it gets rather frustrating when you’re repeatedly smacked before you have control again.     Phenomenal in every aspect. The world design, writing, combat, and puzzles are all topnotch. Incredible score, lifelike acting and mocap. This has easily made it into my top 5 games of all time, and will probably be one of the few games I 100% because it is just so satisfying to play.

    Horizon Forbidden West is an absoluely amazing game. It is definitely deserving of being considered a worthy sequel. HFW takes what the first game did well and expands on that massively. The graphics are absolutely breathtaking and truly gorgeous. All of the characters felt full of life and created an atmosphere which will draw you in and want you to learn more about their stories. If you want to roll around in circles for every boss encounter and die 500 times get Elder Ring. Overhauled combat experience, top quality graphic resolution, and additional features like gyro aim are just a few reasons.

    As a side note I played the original Horizon Zero Dawn and I loved the whole idea of the story and I say idea because the storytelling was not so compelling.
    And now back to the honest review The overall game rating from my end is 8.4 I. GAMEPLAY (overall 7.2/10) 1. Did not really like that much the melee combat but the ranged combat is very nice overall 7/10 2.    NO SPOILER REVIEW
    As a side note I played the original Horizon Zero Dawn and I loved the whole idea of the story and I say idea because the storytelling was not so compelling.
    And now back to the honest review
    The overall game rating from my end is 8.4
    I. GAMEPLAY (overall 7.2/10)
    1. Did not really like that much the melee combat but the ranged combat is very nice overall 7/10
    2. There is a big list of weapons and tactics to chose from 8/10
    3. Skill tree is making the game much more strategic in the early hours of the story but late-game it all comes down to weapons used 8/10
    4. Enemy types are more diverse than original HZD but I did not enjoy as much some of the new additions 7/10
    5. Open world exploration is pretty nice with a range of all types of climate 8/10
    6. Replayability is not great after finishing the game since there is no New Game+ option and also you can pretty much kill and destroy any enemy with a few shots 5/10
    II. STORY (overall 9/10)
    1. The storytelling and voice acting is very nice (this is also rounded up but the superb face details) 9/10
    2. The main quest story is awesome and it gets better and better as you progress in game 10/10
    3. Side quests are decent and deliver a better sense of the surrounding world 8/10
    4. I really loved the cultural diversity within the game which does not seem forced at all, unlike movie industry where it feels forced, it really balances the world to display all gender races (not only black and white) and though this point does not usually make it in a game review I feel it deserves a place in this section 9/10
    III. GRAPHICS (overall 9/10)
    1. Right from the start you are drawn in with the superb graphics and details 10/10
    2. Played it in performance mode for 60 FPS and it looks amazing but there are some brightness issues in some areas (either are too bright or too dark) 7/10
    3. Machine details and battles look gorgeous 10/10
    IV. QUALITY (overall 8.3/10)
    1. Game Crashes 10/10 => For about 40+ hours played I have never encountered any crash on Performance mode
    2. Gameplay 7/10 => The main character's voice is bugged and this is the worst part of the game for me (constant repeating monologues and overlapping with background dialogues and stories)
    3. Quest bugs 9/10 => Encountered only a bug quest where progress was not possible until a certain main story progress was reached and I was not aware from the game about this
    4. Graphic bugs 7/10 => There are some weird transitions where the background is having some weird textures for a few seconds after jumping in the game + I encountered a bug in Quality mode where my frame rate dropped to about 4 FPS and constant stuttering but after a reload and change to Performance mode did not encounter this issue anymore
    V. CLOSING NOTE
    If they fix some of the issues mentioned above (from which the first I would say it is the main character's random monologues) this can easily go for a 9/10 overall
    I will would advise people to play first the original Horizon Zero Dawn and the play the new Forbidden West.    … Expand

    Beautiful game, tons of side content that isn't rinse and repeat. An intriguing story. Lots of different ways to approach enemies with quite a large arsenal of weapons. My only gripe with the game is melee combat in the game just isn't good. But that didn't bug me too much because shooting the bow feels so damn good.

    There are some minor bugs, but they don't affect gameplay. I played for over 45 hours. I still continue to play. Side missions and main missions are very successful. Even swimming or riding a machine without doing anything gives people a lot of pleasure. I can't understand how my weekends start and end because of the game.

    been playing this game on ps4 pro havent seen any fps drops just minor pup ins, but i understand game was made for next gen, just gotta say the really upped their game compared to zero dawn mostly on facial expressions when talking to NPCs they made it more "alive" at the world really amazing. the game is really slow when just starting unlike zero dawn, you gotta upgrade your    Amazing!

The story i dont know how but they made it so much better rewarding those who played Zero dawn with some callbacks. again its really slow, if you want face paced games this game is not for you.    … Expand

    Eine gelungene fortsetzung muss ich sagen. Die Grafik auf er PS5 ist ein Taum. Story ist sehr gut und spannend.Wer den 1. Teil gespielt und spass hatte, wird in Forbidden West auf seine kosten kommen.

Combat is smooth and playing on performance almost feel so silky you can swear your playing at more the 60fps. I swear sometimes it straight up feels its 120fps in certain areas of the game. I played on normal and it was quite difficult which is part of what made it fun the made some of the zero dawns machine extremely deadly. ravagers used to be easy to take out now I actively avoid them. The 3d audio is excellent as well as the controller effects. This game is an absolute showcase for the Playstation 5. I cannot wait to see what they would be able to do if it was an exclusive to Playstation 5. Everything relating to the quests was just excellent. I have at the moment of writing this post not completed all side activities and quests but each one of them is worth playing. I would play them even if they didn't give me rewards. All the returning side activities are now even more interesting. and new one are lots of fun as well. I will play any dlc this game has which I do expect. I could see them createing 1 to 3 dlc based on what has been extablished that can be explored. My score is a 9.9 that lack of the 0.1 is attributed to minor bugs I encountered and some other very minor annoyances. There are a few feature improvements that the game needs but extremely minor. The main one being that though most rocky surfaces are climbable some of the no vertical ones need a tune up since you either don't need the hand holds or you stop climbing because of a tiny ledge which is only minorly annoying. Please note that you will want to know the full story of the first game in order to fully understand this one.… Expand

    This game is breathtakingly beautiful with one of the most likeable & realistic protagonist I can remember, Although there are some bugs the developers know about that will be fixed soon, it runs perfectly on the PS5. I thought Horizon Zero Dawn was the best game I've ever played, then I played Horizon Forbidden West. I can't wait for the next chapter in Aloy's story.

    Even though I have not finished it this game feels fantastic. The rich lore that expands on the first game is great and so far it looks amazing on PS5. Some of the change to crafting at good and at other times bad, I didn’t mind the crafting on the go in the first game but having to go to a workbench to upgrade things like pouches is a little tedious, however I can easily look past that

When she uses her weapons, it should affect the grass, when you hit a wall it should bounce off, be able to retrieve normal arrows that aren't damaged by explosions. Climbing system is dumb, just let ppl climb every rock or none.

    This is a big one, in Cradle of Echos, the tunnle Varl is investigating is wide open but you cant go in until you investigate the whole site. WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE IT OPEN? This is an open world, if its open you go, if you don't want us to go in get Varl to pry rocks away after you complete the objective.
    Aside from that, they did do Aloy dirty in the looks department, there is a woke message through out the writing empowering women and whatnot. Thats ok but it is a immersion breaking.

    Woke ideology breaks the immersion occasionally, the worst offense was a white girl Tannakth member with a hair doo only possible with African American hair. Really?    … Expand

    Pros: - Adaptive triggers made the weapons feel more fun to use. - Very interesting story, although it wasn't amazing. - Great mini games. - Looks like a next-gen video game. - New machines are amazing.     - Adaptive triggers made the weapons feel more fun to use.

    Cons:
    - Many noticeable bugs (I lost a legendary weapon because of a bug).
    - No universal vendor. Did not even know some weapons existed until the end of the game
    - AI is mediocre
    - Although the overall story was good, the quests felt repetitive.
    - Machines spamming the same move over and over when I'm down, so I am unable to roll to safety.
    - Map stays foggy when scanning all tall necks. I feel like the entire map should be fog-free once all the tall
    necks are scanned.
    - Couldn't jump through certain windows even though it had enough space to fit Aloy. If they didn't want people
    going to that location, how about blocking the location off with some structures instead of putting an
    invisible wall.
    - They really need to build a more personal 'relationship' between Aloy and the player. Aloy has no personality.
    Show her human side. Some non-machine fighting scenes. There were a few of them in the game, but not nearly

    First time since RDR 2 that i'm blown away by the world, graphics, and story.
    Even better than the first game.
    So ignore all the salty soyboy hate and play this game.

Avec les Zénith Loitauns, c'est pseudos clown qui espère refaire le monde à leurs besoins. Le personnage le plus intéressant est Sylens. Toujours fidèle à son mysticisme, cette fois ci, l'on compre d la raison de ses choix et actions du premier opus.

    L'interaction avec la dualsens et les sensations sont fidèles aux attentes. Enfin un jeu qui mélange plaisir.et environnement. À ces débuts, chaque 5 trophées fait en sorte qu'un arbre sera plantée officiellement. Une idée écologique et définissant l'importance de la fragilité de notre relation avec la Terre.

    Les graphiques sont époustouflant. La mécanique de l'upgrade est disponible ppiur ceux qui en ont envie sinon faire le jeu en mode histoire sans problème est tout a fait possible. Le jeu prévoit pour tout genre. Ceux en quête de défis, ceux en quête de se monter une armement, de la decouvrte au plaisir interne du jeu, et, pour ceux qui aime l'histoire tout simplement. Bien aimé l'histoire, et, comme l'intérêt de notre planète devrait être aux priorités, c'est un rappel vidéo-ludique de ses besoins vs les duivers ivers folies humaines. Après tout, l'homme est la seule créatures sur cette planète qui s'entretuent inutilement.

    Ce type de titre vidéo-ludique sera faire sensation. Les pseudos-fanatiques de l'egypte anciennes, de l'Atlantide, detesteront ce titre.

    L'intelligence artificielle est aussi une mise en lumière. De nos jours, nous interprettons collectivement l'IA comme une menace car elle a été codé par l'homme selon ses intérêts. Cependant, ce titre nous montre que l'IA est assurément devenue pleinement consciente et met les priorise les besoins premiers, soient de l'écologie, l'environnement et les écosystèmes. Comme quoi, oui, cette intelligence artificielle est supérieure à une pensée pseudo évolutive.

    This lived up to all my expectations… gameplay was amazing graphics are STUNNING!! I just completed the main the main story doing side quest and such along the way… I have roughly 50 hrs into the game and it was well worth it!!

Hunting animals in the game is lackluster as well, there isn't anything strategic or fun about it, but it's required for upgrading. You just turn on your focus, hope an animal you need is nearby, and shoot it once. It's tedious grinding, I don't expect red dead 2 level of hunting, but it definitely needs something more, like depending where you shoot it and type of arrow depends on what kind of material you get, something like that, small addition to make hunting a little more strategic and fun. Otherwise, side quests are FAR better, settlements, exploration, combat, everything else is massively improved upon from the first game, and is an absolute blast to play. Definitely a must play for any playstation player. One additional thing I find to be the biggest let down is Aloy, she's very one-dimensional, it's hard to get invested in her character. You know how she's going to react and respond no matter what happens.… Expand

If there’s one thing that I would love for the game creators to note for the next instalment is less dialogue please. There’s just so much talking, endless cutscenes filled with mumbo jumbo about GAIA and HADES and I don’t know whatIt’s definitely a treat coming back to this gorgeous universe, an excellent showcase for your PS5.     Absolutely beautiful, a near perfect sequel. I would suggest playing horizon zero dawn first to get the full scope of the story. The world is beautiful, the characters are engaging and even the smallest side quests are filled with world building lore and history

I feel like this game was suppose to teach Aloy that she sometimes does need help, but it didn’t show it enough. Aloy may be a clone, but before she even knew about Elizabeth she wanted to be accepted and now that she knows she’s Elizabeth clone it feels like she’s not thinking for herself. Also Erend was a fan favorite of the first game, many wanting her and him to be together in some fashion, but in this game? Aloy is cold towards him with every response and constantly being mean about him being “dumb” and it felt like they made his character dumber as well. I just don’t understand where they’re taking aloys character? I hope that in future games they’ll let aloy grow because I don’t feel she grew enough in this one. I know romance so far isn’t present in the game but I’d think it be cool if in the third we were given the option kinda like how dragon age or mass effect is, where she could be with a guy, or a girl or just herself but I think it’s be awesome for fans to have a bit more say when selecting her dialogue. My complaint is really just a small part of the game which is why I still give it an 8 because the story itself was amazing.… Expand

It’s a give it take running at full fidelity. But wow!!!! Is it worth it for this game. The performance mode is just not doing it favors. But that aside I think this game is a 9, and as long as 30fps is not a deal breaker…buy it! I have 7hrs in Elden Ring and I’m still coming back to play!… Expand

    Quite a sprawling sequel. The world felt more alive and I thought I would get bored doing the village missions but the stories were really well written and much improved from Zero Dawn i think. Finished in six days and am kinda hoping I can go back and clear out all the side missions. Solid 8/10.

    Continues with an amazing story with twists you don't see coming. Character interactions are more in depth and show off their personalities. Lots more side quests which I love. Top it off with a brand new map and beautiful music and I spent hours playing without even realizing it.

    The game is simply magnificent. So many things to explore, action packed combat with many weapons and combos, insane graphics and sound design. The story isn’t that interesting, but otherwise the game is very, very good. It left me multiple times sitting in front of the TV with a smile in my face, just watching the scenery after an intense battle.

The main story in forbidden west is absolutely amazing as well. This game has the best facial models I have ever seen, and overall the graphics of the game are insane. The open world is so beautiful when I first started playing it took me something like 2 hours to finish the first mission because I caught myself just staring over every ledge and admiring the view. Many main characters return from the previous game, especially some of the most interesting ones. I have just completed the main story, with something like 73-74 hours of gameplay, including side missions and exploration. I will go back and get 100% trophies in this game for the first time ever in a game because it is that rewarding to keep playing it. 10/10, the best game I have ever played, and I have played quite a few, including god of war 2018. This beats it hands down, however I would say it is more necessary to ply horizon zero dawn first before playing forbidden west, while playing the previous 3 god of wars before god of war 4 is not really necessary at all.… Expand

    The only Con for me -> overextended missions (especially parkour and puzzles as they become boring very fast) but short overall main campaign

A must to play if you like the genre, but i strongly suggest you to play the prequel to better understand the story.

    I also just want to say not to trust people who gives votes like 0/1/2 because they really means nothing. Like, what do you mean by 0? It's the same vote i would give to a game made by a 6 years old on Scratch in 15 minutes... (maybe i could even give it 1 :/ )    … Expand

Both this and Elden Ring are truly amazing very special games we should be so happy we get to play them both at the same time its a lucky time to be a gamer.     It's ok, but the challenges they have are beyond stupid, for some reason if you do it after you've unlocked all the moves, it won't let you complete them no matter what I do I never get credit for doing any of the combos thus making it impossible for me to platinum the game, so I deleted it and will not return. Also the controls for climbing are beyond atrocious.

    Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

    Horizon Forbidden West is Guerrilla's best game to date, taking Aloy to new heights with a blockbuster release that meets the high standards set by PlayStation in recent years. While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

    Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what everyone thought it would be: an amazing game. It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
