    This game takes all the great elements from the original, and improves almost every weakness. Once again, Guerrilla nailed not only the graphics, but the world building as well. The open world is the most dense I've ever seen, and the towns/settlements are so alive it's honestly impressive. Melee combat got a complete revamp in this game, and I couldn't be happier. I chose to max out my Warrior skill tree first as I was excited to test this system out, and I was not disappointed. Side quests are amazing in this game, I find myself watching almost every optional cutscene becasue of how great the dialogue and facial animations are. Ranged combat is still extremely satifysing, also introducing several new mechanics. The new machines are so detailed and honestly way more aggressive than the first game. Also, traversal has been revamped with things like the grappling hook, paraglider, and climbing, which are all great additions, and even make for some interesting combat combos. I was also a big fan of the skill tree in this game. 6 different playstyles with 20+ skills on each is mindblowing. And as a smaller praise, I love the new game Machine Strike, reminds me of Gwent from the Witcher 3. I was also impressed with the revamped Focus system. Everything is more accessible and easier to navigate in the new game.
    Some weak points:
    The story was a downgrade from the first game. However, it was by no means bad. Fans of the first games story will love and appreciate the story, but a new player might find themselves confused and uninterested.
    As of writing this there is no New Game +. I think this would only add to the replayablity of the game.
    Finally, the bugs. None of my encounters have been gamebreaking, and I understand that with a new game this big it is inevitable for their to be some bugs. However, I felt it was necessary to include any issues I had with the game.    … Expand

    This game is beautiful. I'm surprised it doesn't have a must buy tag. This is the most impressive open world game in a long time. Side missions aren't boring anymore and all the weapon upgrades and skill upgrades are awesome. Don't listen to any scores that say zero, most of them are from people who haven't even played the game and are mad that it's an exclusive to Playstation. Just lookThis game is beautiful. Aloy's facial redesign is not good, specifically her eyebrows being so dark and bushy while being a redhead. Elisabet's eye rows don't look like that. And before you blame it on this being a post apocalyptic world consider this: not every female in the game has this issue.Excellent game.     Amazing games, improving on its predecessor in every way. Particularly impressed by the beauty of the graphics and the richness of writing and acting in cutscenes, from main quests to the smallest NPC encounter.

    so I have gotten to the final boss, not beat it yet, really loved this game overall, enemy AI is better, stealth is a bit more realistic (enemies spot you if you move around in the stealth grass), I really liked the story, it definitely has a different feel from last game's story, the graphics are amazing, the heavyweight machines are really challenging (i was playing on hard difficulty),so I have gotten to the final boss, not beat it yet, really loved this game overall, enemy AI is better, stealth is a bit more realistic (enemies spot you if you move around in the stealth grass), I really liked the story, it definitely has a different feel from last game's story, the graphics are amazing, the heavyweight machines are really challenging (i was playing on hard difficulty), but the slitherfang (the snake machine) is somewhat easy and I've fought one tremortusk (the elephant machine) and that was from a distance and it was somewhat easy too, the game looks really amazing, I have ran into around 3 bugs, all somewhat minor, one was that I fell through the map while doing a race activity, the other was that I was doing a salvage contract and some unrelated machines caught me, so I went off to do another side activity, when I returned, it didnt let me do the salvage contract, had to load a previous save, and I had one fps drop, I played on the 30fps resolution mode for the entire game and it was mostly a locked 30fps for most of the time… Expand

    One of the best games I ever played definitely deserves more than a 9/10 but not quite 10/10 just yet. I feel That its amazing how the ps4 didn't hold back the game by much. The gameplay here is fun and the audio design is fantastic, the UI is better this time around. The characters are written with so much care and depth that people COMPLAIN about to much info which alot of is optional the NPCs and side characters are written to the point where you care about them in a mission I played the two characters where feuding and I had to choose who to side with I chose the one over the other because of what I learned from him by listening to the dialogue and how he felt about me%Aloy and his people. Its doesn't really impact the. Game but a difficult choice that requires some thought if you like either of the characters. Horizon has some problems too but my essay is getting quite big so briefly I would like the combat to be expanded on more. We need more variety with in the various activities, machine strike is fun but needs more depth. Keep the climbing mechanic as it is but make more things climb able and the focus should highlight more things to interact with, thank you guerilla for that though. The bugs and glitches are a result of development under Covid and Quarantine so I won't consider them in the review at all but they are small so they don't effect your game play at all and performance is rock solid on ps4 and PS5. I can't wait to see what lies beyond the Horizon of Horizon Forbidden West.     I am truly enjoying this game! It is not a perfect game. There are some fixes (performance, bug fixing such as a mount call bug I've been having) and some gameplay improvements I think could make it even better (crafting/inventory mainly but not limited to). That being said, I love this game, it is unique, fun, challenging and beautiful!! A lot of people have review bombed this gameI am truly enjoying this game! It is not a perfect game.     Out of all the games I've played recently this one hooked me the most. Other reviews say the story is weak but I am loving it. This game is such a step up from the first one. If you have a ps5 this is a must buy. The world feels so lived in and all the characters are interesting and make you actually care. Aloy is a standout performance.     Zero Dawn was a great, fun game, top 5 favorite of mine for sure. Forbidden West so far has improved on it nearly of way. One thing has gotten worse for: 1) I miss Lure Call

    Fantastic game with a beautiful world, creative side stories & the main story that surpasses many mainstream movies & shows. Works brilliantly on PS4 with minor hiccups. Definitely a worthwhile successor that surpasses the original.

    In fact the game are amazin, but this is because Guerrilla don't tryed change de recipe of sucessefull of past. Some times, I had a impression that are was playing a massive DLC and not a new game, this isan't bad just a shame that they don't tryed something tottally new.
    Is a great game that will be a pleasure for old and new fans.

    I've put 30+ hours into this game so far. I think it's a great continuation of the first game. The visuals are stunning, the story is fairly well written, and I love the new characters you get to meet. I love the new machines that were added as well as some of the new weapons and upgrades.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I thought the story was dumb as hell. People flying around and **** Spending most of your time dicking around saving people in tribes. Going on fetch quests to recover the subordinate functions. The whole idea of “nemesis” and immortality. The first game was believable and legit scared me but I was laughing my ass off at this one.

    This game just frustrated me to no end with the glitches (seriously the glitchiest game I’ve played since cyberpunk), pointless jumping and climbing puzzles, frustrating machine AI and spongey enemies, the repetitiveness of the world, endless side activities locked beyond endgame quest items, every settlement looking the same and having the same general “go save this person” side quest.

    Not to say I didn’t enjoy the game, but the first game is a 10/10 for me. It was my first platinum. As close to a perfect game as I’ve ever played. I wanted more and more, and even enjoyed the DLC. This one more like a 6 or 7. I was just rushing to get through the story so it would end. I had no interest in exploring anymore once I saw how stupid the endgame was. Eventually I may come back and get the platinum, but not anytime soon.

    There were some interesting gameplay enhancements that worked, and many that didn’t. I enjoy challenging games, but the game felt unfair at many points. This coming from someone who beat the first on Ultra Hard NG+ recently. There are generally times where there seems to be no way to avoid enemy attacks. The world is copy and paste and the quests uninspiring. Save this person, fetch this, clear out this camp, do this aggravating cauldron that thinks it’s a Legend of Zelda puzzle. Overrides are temporary and seem pointless, so the cauldrons seem pointless. You also have to find materials to unlock corrupted overrides which add an annoyance to the game.

    The new characters are all unlikable and horrible actors with cringe dialogue. I found myself not giving a **** about any of them. Potential to build on Erend and Sylens stories are wasted. The after credits tease with Sylens in the first game is wasted.

    The game is a glitchy mess. Multiple times I had to restart quests because of game breaking glitches. Multiple times I had to restart the game on my PS5 because of frame drops and black screens. Is it worth a play? Absolutely? Should you pay $70 for it? Absolutely not. Pick it up on sale and go play Elden Ring tomorrow.    … Expand

    one of the best looking games on PS4. the world looks so beautiful and vibrant.
    I was worried about the direction of the story but I was blown away by the story.
    It was really engaging but side quests took the engagement away from the story. (if you don't do side quests the machines will kick your butt).     I don't know why everybody is complaining about the story when they literally brought a new sister to aloy and took the story to space.
    the negatives of this game is that they nerfed Aloy and buffed the machines, which made the combat very unbalanced. the new combat system, skill tree, platform jumping and AI spam moves was very disappointing. it is still a good game but I wished more of the first game. I didn't like the new additions to the core game.
    If you are a fan of the first game, this is for you. if not, then probably you wouldn't like it.
    I know the story in the next game will be amazing but I hope they don't overwhelm it with too much useless skills and special moves and weapon    … Expand

    An upgrade from Zero Dawn in every aspect this game demonstrates why the Horizon series is a behemoth in the video game industry and how Aloy is shaping up to be a legacy character like Master Chief. One more game left in the trilogy and I am already anticipating the conclusion to his fantastic story.

    Très très bon jeux, bonne histoire, super graphismes, surtout les traits de visage, musique et gameplay génial, monde ouvert assez vaste avec énormément de machines différentes, bref un très bon jeux que ce soit sur ps4 ou ps5.

    graphics are a 10/10. But combat, story, main character. It's all not that good. Clunky combat when not stealthy. Story is better but not great and Aloy is still bland. Updated I played more and it gets pretty boring. Also some clippings issues.

    Just Amazing. If the first opus deserve a 10/10 (all quest done on PC) this one a 9/10. I only get 10-20 hours game I know I will finish it and I just have time to finish less than 5 games a year.
    The game play is more agressive, you have more possibilities (devices/weapons). It seems to be a very good number 2 you are not lost but you discover more things. Thank you Guerrilla Games.

    El juego está bien logrado, se nota el buen trabajo que hay en el desde el principio, tiene un combate fluido, el arte del juego es impresionante.
    Si horizon zero dawn te gustó, entonces Horizon forbidden west es un título que sin duda alguna necesitas jugar.

    Was really looking forward to this game as I really liked Zero Dawn. However I am a bit disappointed. After playing the DLC to Zero Dawn, I did really feel the fatique of the game being a bit "samey" and I felt they really need to change things up in the prequel. Unfortunately, Forbidden West feels more or less like a larger DLC, and a buggy one at that. The gameplay is more or less theWas really looking forward to this game as I really liked Zero Dawn. However I am a bit disappointed. After playing the DLC to Zero Dawn, I did really feel the fatique of the game being a bit "samey" and I felt they really need to change things up in the prequel. Unfortunately, Forbidden West feels more or less like a larger DLC, and a buggy one at that. The gameplay is more or less the same with a few new additions. It also feels quite unpolished with buggy animations, UI glitches, progression blockers until you restart the game and the like.     Dont listen to the negative reviews both by critics and pissed off Xbox fanboys. This game is an improvement in every way over ther original. If you have a Playstation do yourself a favor and pick this up asap

    This is a very beautiful game. I've only had one issue regarding slowdown, so I simply saved and restarted, but I haven't run into any problems since. The plot is wonderful and riveting, the graphics are phenomenal (get to the snowy areas and you'll understand even more), and I specifically go out of my way to do the side quests, anything just to prolong my time in Aloy's world!

    Incredible game!! This was a highly anticipated sequel for me, and it delivered on almost every front. The gameplay now has even greater added depth, rewarding careful planning and execution, or great "on-the-spot" thinking. Each machine you approach doesn't have a tutorial, instead the game allows you to approach the confrontation in which ever way you deem fit, making your choices andIncredible game!! This was a highly anticipated sequel for me, and it delivered on almost every front. The gameplay now has even greater added depth, rewarding careful planning and execution, or great "on-the-spot" thinking. Each machine you approach doesn't have a tutorial, instead the game allows you to approach the confrontation in which ever way you deem fit, making your choices and ultimately you're victory all the more satisfying. Performance wise the ps5 version has short loading screen they may as well not even be considered as loading screens. The game does have a few bugs, these can be annoying, but simply quitting to the main menu and entering back into the game almost always fixes these issues, and the loading screens (as previously mentioned) aren't anything to worry about as they're so fast. The game does have a very slow start unfortunately, but after the 10hour mark I was invested, and it became harder and harder to put the controller down. I fell in love with the NPC's and the craft going into the game is outstanding, its clear the developer poured a lot of heart and passion into this project. The details and overall beauty put into every inch of the open world astounds me, sometimes the climbing controls can get a little stiff, but the swimming flows and is incredibly fun to take advantage off, as is the glider. Puzzles are clever and very well designed, its always fun to solve one of them. The open world leaves plenty to explore, with well over 80hours worth of content to play through. I couldn't recommend this game more, the only things really bumping this down for me are the occasional wonky controls and bugs, otherwise this is a truly unrivalled experience and as a fan of the first game, I couldn't be happier with how this turned out. It works great as a sequel too, given it takes what was great about the first, and expands upon it. The gameplay once again is addictive and I can't get enough of it!… Expand

    For the graphic and the details the graphics are so good even when I'm playing on performance mod you don't feel a lot of difference from resolution mod so i would say go for performance to hit the 60 fps when it comes to details the dev's put a lot of work into towns NPCS they have a daily routine and some of them do different stuff in small settlements.
    For the gameplay it's enjoyably and feels good minus a pop-up bugs or some small bugs like getting stuck on stairs.
    If liked the first game you'll definitely love this one they have improved a lot over the years it's not a perfect game but you'll get your money's worth    … Expand

    I saw a bug or two but it's not really game breaking!

After 30 hours of game-play, I haven't finished yet, IThis masterpiece shows a lot of improvement in every aspect of its predecessor. I have seen huge steps of improvement such as graphics (obvious), the combat system is satisfactory, the skill trees appear to let players engage with the enemy in different ways, and the storytelling has become more mature compared to the previous games. After 30 hours of game-play, I haven't finished yet, I can't stop playing the side mission because it is rich in content due to the animation improvement. I don't encounter any frame-rate drop on resolution mode. Also, glitches and bugs have been fixed after the patches were released. I have no complaints about the game, I think the developer had listened to the players and improved in terms of it, the game provided as it supposes to be and pushed the details of every part of the game much further. Even though, this game is not going to be the game of the year. This is the game of my year. Thank you, guerrilla, provides so much fun for me and the players. This is a must-buy ps5 game.… Expand

    this is one of the best RPG out there , Guerrilla Games did a good job by expending the same story with familiar elements. i was afraid the gameplay system will be the same but honestly they surprised me with new upgrades, skills, machines, even the enemies , i don't care what others say about this but Guerrilla Games is doing an mazing job .

    It's amazing grafically, the care they've put on the NPCs blows your mind but since zero dawn the tribes story arc doesn't attract me enough so I only dis the necessary side missions to complement the main story, very nice game also its overwhelming the amount of content on the map, kind of like assassin's creed

    Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
