    Amazing world. So much effort put into crafting this GORGEOUS experience.certainly the best looking open world out there by a long shot. The story is also good (who the hell is saying it isn’t) and queued up for a trilogy finishing sequel. HFW runs smooth and never feels like I need to grind to advance. I especially love how melee has been vastly improved. 10/10

    If you liked the first game you’ll love this. The side quests don’t feel like chores, collectibles enrich the lore and aren’t just a grab and go, and there are fun puzzles that actually feel challenging. Add to that a beautiful world and a compelling story and you have a truly amazing gaming experience worth your time. In my opinion its a 10.

    Not only is this game technically impressive but it also hits home in every other way, story is fun and intriguing, combat is thoughtful and expansive, side activities are fun and very well crafted. It does what HZD did and improves upon every single aspect. I’ve spent hours upon hours just exploring, don’t want to leave this world. A Must Play!

    It's so good. I'm about 10+ hours in and have barely scratched the surface, but everything I wished was different while playing the first game; they've tweaked/changed. I wished they had a stash in the first: boom! They put one in the second. I wished you could change time because some quest were scary at night and bam! They added it in. I like the characters, the side quests are fun, IIt's so good.     I have loved zero dawn as well, and I was worrying that the Forbidden West can't keep it fresh or be as original as Zero Dawn. I was wrong. This game is a work of art, probably the best game I have ever played, and I am not a young gamer. I have bought PS5 especially for this game and it was worth it. The graphics is...by far the best I have ever experience with any game, even inI have loved zero dawn as well, and I was worrying that the Forbidden West can't keep it fresh or be as original as Zero Dawn. I was wrong. This game is a work of art, probably the best game I have ever played, and I am not a young gamer. I have bought PS5 especially for this game and it was worth it.     The game is beautiful and amazing in every possible way. It is a step up from the previous game in every way. The world is more diverse and more alive and open. The combat is also more intricate in its design. The animations and conversations in the game are more fluid and life like.

But in that way Forbidden west surprised me: It has also a great, sometimes very emotional storyline with great characters and expands the story of the first part very well. Guerrilla Games is the new Bioware to me! I also play Mass Effect Legendary Edition just now and in direct comparison I find the storyline is on the same level!

    So if you like good innovative stories and Action RPG gameplay that is not just plain gunfight but has a certain tactial touch - play Horizon! And if you didn't play the first part - start with that!    … Expand

    Such a blast! As a casual gamer that plays 1-2 games a year, I really enjoyed my 80h+ with Horizon FW. Every frame of the game is stunning, the mechanics are super fun and the story is engaging enough to make you explore it’s huuuugely detailed map! Sure it comes with a few bugs (cranky mount controls, weird hair physics, 4 crashes during my gameplay), but these things were so smallSuch a blast!     Sigue manteniendo una historia super interesante, y coherente con su antecesor, tiene nuevas dinamicas de juego, las nuevas maquinas y sus movimientos estan super bien diseñados y presentan un nuevo reto, la complejidad de cada rincon en el juego es miy alta, todos los personajes inclusive los npcs estan completamente bien diseñados y sus movimientos son muy naturales

    The graphics, the story, I liked everything about this game from beginning to end. I've owned a PS2, PS3, PS4 and now a PS5 and this is the first game I've ever pre-ordered and I'm glad I did. I just hope they add a new game+ !

    I originally went in skeptical to Horizon Zero Dawn, and I was blown away, it quickly became my favorite open world RPG. So the sequel, Forbidden West had a lot to live up to. And oh boy did it, it took everything I loved about the original and cranked it up to 10. As of this review, I have 30+ hours into it, snd I’m only at 32% complete.10/10. Highly recommend

    I know it already has a high rating, but honestly it deserves even higher. The scope of the story and world of Horizon is expanded MASSIVELY in this sequel and the mechanics that we love from Horizon Zero Dawn and only refined and not changed or replaced.

The game rocks; gameplay, story so far, graphics, performance, minimal bugs, I have seen one error in 20 hours gameplay so far on PS5, mechanics, characters development, majestic open world and new machines. Missing one point to make it 10 due to somehow repetitive look andI don’t usually rate games, I just play them, lots of them! But I felt the negative reviews are misleading in here. The game rocks; gameplay, story so far, graphics, performance, minimal bugs, I have seen one error in 20 hours gameplay so far on PS5, mechanics, characters development, majestic open world and new machines. For every instance of “wow look at the thought they put in to *thing*, there is another set piece or thematic aspect that doesn’t make any sense for the setting, or was just placed because it looks cool. (granted it’s fantasy but believability is important. What are these weird painted stone things plastered on rocks, where did they get an abundance ofThe world and visuals are amazing. How did a very small population make the stone slabs for the paint to go on. And WHY

    It seems they went with “looks cool” over “belivable” (bUT iTs FanTaSY) I like a cool set piece yea but well thought out fully realized worlds are what really make fantasy thrive. A big set piece like the mines of Moria Are hard to believe but have thousands of years of work and dwarves behind them. The rave color painted stone structures attached to rocks in H:FW haven’t really got the history. 1 the people would have needed to attach the carved rock slabs to the boulders. something that humans today would struggle with. Second most difficult would be the paints. Where are the sky people getting their paints from? Where are those who develops them? I thought that blaze or some other machine fluid could be a good explanation for how they get them bright, but I’ve not seen turquoise blaze yet.


    I am also not convinced that a people as dependent as the singing nitwits at plainsong could actually generate the structures they lived in.

    And speaking of the singing nitwits. Aloy has become supremely unlikable. I loved her in the first one but here she comes off cocky, selfish and demanding of others and other cultures. I don’t feel a drop of character development or personality besides “savior” and “warrior”


    It’s essentially the same game with a less focused story and a few more functions like the nifty glider. I will say that the aquatic areas are the most innovative aspect in my opinion,    … Expand

There are some crashes and bugs from time to time, but not enough to warrant any real complaints,(Guerilla is addressing these issues). It feels hollow playing this game and i kinda regret having purchased it when i could just wait for more game reviews before preordering it. Aloy is very uninteresting character as if there’s no character development and i feel like taking down huge machines like tremortusk is not a challenge. Im sorry i think the robo-dinosaurs or robotic enemies have to go because the designs are all similar eventhough they’re different. You may design a kraken and it feels the same when it’s a robot.     Everything about the game is great, the game play, story, and even the graphics for the PS4 is just amazing. I have glitched through the map but it's rare. Game is fun on low and high difficulty and I can't wait till new game plus comes out to play on ultra hard

    I used to just buy video games on a whim. Even if the game had problems, most of the time I never really had a reason to evaluate my game buying decision before a purchase. I never even thought I would make a video game review. How on earth is this game an 88 right now? The 8.2 from the users is less believable. The controls are so clunky. Aloy stops to fart everytime she grabs a ladder or climbable object. The pullcaster animation looks so bad. Everything just feels mediocre. There is none of the fluidity here that I found in Uncharted. The combat is ok, fighting robotic predators is pretty trippy and enjoyable at times. Aloy is an awesome looking character, and she has the potential to be a cultural icon in video games like Lara Croft or Samus or even Jill Valentine. But holy moly do they lay on the scorned high school girl attitude thick. How am I supposed to care about anything she says when she speaks like what she is saying doesn't matter? She either needs to hydrate more or develop better breathing habits, because she is always out of breath. She cuts people off, uses such childish body language and actually grrrrr's when frustrated. You had it, studio whoever. You had it. A really compelling leading female character. But instead of giving her a character arch, depth, and empathetic dialogue with NPC's, I am cringing every cutscene or dialogue moment. Do real people actually have conversations like they do in this game? Do AAA devs now just get a budget to project their childhood trauma onto unwitting consumers? It's so bad. I don't think that this game is a zero. I don't. Zero would be the game not even working. But there is no way anyone operating in good faith would give this a 10. This is why its important to read the words when looking at reviews. The video game industry is now on the same path (and probably has been for a while) as the rest of our entertainment and even just our overall culture, just circling the toilet drain.… Expand

    Is it fun? Yes. Is it in a playable state? Kinda. Should you wait until the patch that fixes the stuttering and FPS issues bugs and glitches

The way the npcs do their jobs in towns, cutting wood, cooking food, you name it it looks real. Theres absolutely no jank. Its like every thing was mo capped and its beautiful.     As someone who was not a great fan of zero Dawn i must say the game has been improved in almost all aspects! Especially side- and mainquests are much more interesting and captivating than in the first game! Graphics are extremely stunning on ps5 and facial animations are greatly improved as well! It ist not yet on the level of a game like witcher 3 but very close! great game

    This is a great sequel to Zero Dawn! If you enjoyed the first game, then you'll enjoy this. The new environments and details are jaw-dropping. The characters are more expressive and fleshed out, and the story and content are definitely a step above the previous game. It's a really enjoyable experience and is an absolute must-try.

    few games appealed to me as much as Horizon Forbidden West. It still doesn't beat the game, but I have no doubt it will be at the top of my list.

    On 2/24/22 I downloaded and installed the update of the game.
    On the same day around 1:30 p.m. I had the game with full motivation and I was looking forward to seeing the end soon.

    I restarted the ps5 and still got the same error.
    when booting the system software, the ps5 hangs and restarts over and over again. when I get to the PS5 menu, the lettering from games etc is missing and everything is hacked and doesn't want to be the way it has to be.
    I did a hard reset on the ps5, reinstalling the system software update didn't help.
    I noticed that icc can only play ps4 games on the ps5.
    I have sound and graphic problems with the ps5 games so that the games are automatically terminated with error message CE-108255-1

    I haven't completely reinstalled the system software yet.

    I don't know if that will do anything.

    It says on the internet that the game is bricking the ps5.

    Sony has not yet commented on this.

    I give the game 0 points because it broke my PS5.

    My husband has been playing this every spare moment he's had since it released last week.
    I'd say send help, but it sounds like this is probably the most enjoyable game he's played in the past couple of years.

    The only complaint from him was that he shouldn't have gotten it at launch... because there aren't any guides for it yet to help him get 100% completion.

    This game is absolutely beautiful. The game play is interesting and the controls are intuitive. The story is fun and interesting.

    I only knocked a point off due to the disappointing frame rate stutter on appearance settings and some of the voice acting is a bit 'off'.

    This is absolutely a great game otherwise. Lots of fun, better than zero dawn in my opinion

    Really good game. Beautiful and really challenging playing through on very hard, explorer mode. Not rushed through but msq done now along with only 4.5% of people so take some views with a pinch of salt out there. Great fun - best game I’ve played on the ps5 yet, and maybe the first of a few around to really make a lasting impact

    This game took everything that I loved from the first game and cranked it up to a whole new level. The world is immersive as hell and story so far is great. Whoever designed the machines here should get a massive massive raise from Guerilla as they completely nailed it. Each machine is well thought out and a technical marvel.     It is the most beautiful game I've seen.

    Main Story + Side Quests 7.5/10
    It's nice, however, the ending is a bit disappointing. It is much more interesting when the antagonist is human. The game still lacks catchy characters that can do smth without Eloy leading them. Eloy really lacks some dark side to look more like a real person (Beta is a more interesting character for me).

    Combat + Gameplay 8/10
    It's also nice, my respect for tallneck/cauldrons/relic ruins. A lot of mechanics can bring fun, however, parkour can sometimes annoy. Combat can sometimes annoy you when robots don't give you a chance to stand up/heal.    … Expand

    Horizon forbidden west is an amazing game nearly everything zero dawn did great has been improved on graphically its stunning , facial animations have been improved . little touches such as the small cutscenes for most side quests adds to the beauty of this game and side quest while there is heaps and heaps dont feel like a huge or boring chore !! ..............

    i really enjoyed the main story for the most part its was a great continuation of zero dawn by adding more futuristic aspects to the game BUT where zero dawn was a very well rounded story from start to finish i personally thought forbidden west's ending was a bit messy and weird not terrible not amazing ..........................

    zero dawns ending left you satisfied yet hopeful and teasing a sequel yet but if not a satisfied ending to great game.......................

    forbidden west not so much there is so many questions left unanswered and there needs to be a 3rd game which i will buy for sure but i just didnt feel it was as well rounded as zero dawn.....................

    game play was great the mount ( spoiler less ) you earn late game makes for the best way to travel in horizon even defeats the purpose of fast travel packs in my opinion .................
    the new tools glider, pull caster , etc make for great additions...........
    if i was to complain about anything was all the added skills seemed a bit overwhelming and i personally prefer the simplistic nature of a few weapons and skills the first game..................

    It's got the combat we all know and can easily blend into as well as the feel good basic polish most games seem to lack nowadays. Crafting mid combat is balanced and isn't jarring like opening the pause menu. You can run in camps, climbing stamina isn't a thing. Even the basic fights against weaker enemies qjust gushes dopamine.

    I loved the first game but this is everything you want from a sequel; bigger, bolder, better. Rarely is that achieved in sequels. The scope & scale attempted by Guerilla here is impressive & it looks absolutely stunning to boot. Best game i've played so far in 2022 & one of the best of the last couple of years.

    This game takes what Zero Dawn did, makes it better, and adds many new mechanics that are great for the series. It fleshes out the original characters while adding new interesting ones. A great story, gameplay, and open-world combine for a fun memorable adventure.

Not everything is perfect. The minigame, “Machine Strike”, isn’t nearly as good as the one inThe game has so much going for it. If the pieces animated like “real” machines or something, it might be better. It’s just a bit boring, and it’s hard to make our which pieces are which even on a 50” 4k tv. That’s so minor though- who cares, you don’t have to play it. The game would be a 10 if there weren’t a few things that lacked polish, and a few more bugs than I typically see in a Sony first party game. Usually you can depend on nearly flawless games on day 1, as it should be. However, they’re not anywhere near game breaking or experience ruining. There are just a couple of things where you’re like, huh, this might have been a bit rushed. Blame the pandemic. Anyway, Forbidden West has much more to see and do than Zero Dawn, and while it lacks some of the mystery in Aloy’s outcast beginnings and the history of the machines, once the game opens up beyond the starting area you begin to understand the scope of changes for the better. Once you’re gliding down from those cliffs with your shieldwing and you’ve spent enough skill points, you’ll get it.… Expand

    Horizon Forbidden West does a lot of things as good or even better than Zero Dawn: The gameplay is more fun and complex and there is a lot to explore on a well designed new map. Exploring is also made easier with a few new ways of getting around. New weapons and skills also make it possible to play with different playstyles.     While I did enjoy some of the characters, there were just too many. The good thing is most side characters get their own sidequests so they at least get fleshed out a little, but still not enough to really connect to them. This is one of my biggest problems with the game as well. Although the story setting was good and in theory emotional, it was lacking emotion most of the time. Additionally, the clear goal of the developers was to go bigger not better and while the story isn't terrible, the pacing and writing, especially in the second half, are off. Aloy's personal journey is still the most intriguing and her character is still great, but she doesn't see a lot of development here. Out of all the characters she is the best written one by far, which helps the game a lot since she is the main character. I was thinking about giving this a 9/10 instead since I was addicted to playing and I will get that plat trophy for sure, but I just didn't feel the way I did after the first game when the credits rolled. In fact, a part of me was happy the story was done so I could move on to doing more fun stuff. It is a great game and one of the best I've played in the last few months, but the story issues keep it from being a masterpiece like this first one.    … Expand

    Phenomenal in every aspect. The world design, writing, combat, and puzzles are all topnotch. Incredible score, lifelike acting and mocap. This has easily made it into my top 5 games of all time, and will probably be one of the few games I 100% because it is just so satisfying to play.

Peor aún quiénes se compran una consola de nueva generación para "jugar" a dichas cosas sin probar los verdaderos videojuegos. Esta industria está tan mal que permiten cualquier estafa; juegos inacabados,En un mundo en el que la industria del videojuego es tan cancerígena por estar llevada por los niños rata que compran el CoD, FIFA o skin de Fortnite de turno, no podemos pedir mucho. Peor aún quiénes se compran una consola de nueva generación para "jugar" a dichas cosas sin probar los verdaderos videojuegos. Esta industria está tan mal que permiten cualquier estafa; juegos inacabados, pases de temporada, skins, otros micropagos, DLCs, etc. Incluso los mismos jugadores los piden (ya hay muchos que piden un DLC para el Pokémon Arceus, por ejemplo, cuando no lleva ni un solo mes a la venta. Por motivos como estos pasan cosas como las que pasan con este videojuego que voy a exponer en este análisis, pero resumiéndolo con una palabra, sería algo muy visto en estos tiempos que corren: INACABADO.
    Muchos análisis he visto por aquí poniendo un 8 o un 9 sin sentido por su historia y sus gráficos. Pero aquí voy a decir las cosas tal y como son, sin tapujos diciendo la verdad que no dicen en ningún análisis de la prensa internacional/nacional que he leído por Metacritic.
    El videojuego, como historia y gráficos es para un juego de 9-9,5, pero tiene muchas cosas que no se dicen...
    Es un juego que los propios desarrolladores han sacado a la venta sin ni siquiera haber probado su producto previamente. O, quizás sí lo hayan probado pero hayan decidido ponerlo a la venta sabiendo que cualquier cosa que se ponga encima con un tráiler épico y poco más va a ser, como mínimo, rentable.
    Como he dicho antes, el juego en cuanto a historia y gráficos tienen un 9-9,5, pero esto último tiene truco por así decirlo; el juego, a pesar de tener niebla en ciertas partes (lo cual le viene bien al juego), tiene unos errores imperdonables. Tiene un popping por cada zona en la que vas del juego tremendo. Y, aún no he dicho lo peor de todo; no hay cinematográfica en la que se vean objetos borrosos cuyas texturas se tengan que cargar durante el proceso de ellas, literalmente. Incluso en el vídeo introductorio al videojuego en el que explican los hechos del juego anterior (Horizon Zero Dawn) hay muchas texturas que cargan mientras se ven las cinematográficas. Por si fuera poco, también hay objetos que aparecen de la nada en cada una de ellas y que se cargan también durante el visionado de ellas. Cada una y todas de las cinematográficas tienen una carga tardía de elementos terrible. Incluso en el gameplay.
    A parte del enorme popping y los dos problemas comentados anteriormente, tiene una gran cantidad de bugs; NPCs que aparecen de la nada, Aloy (la protagonista) puede quedarse muchas veces con la mitad del cuerpo transpasando paredes, rocas, puertas, etc., zonas en las que no hay nada y no puedes pasar como si hubiera una pared invisible que tapase la zona y una iluminación/sombreado que se ve de una forma, das un paso más y se ve de una forma totalmente anterior. También hay enemigos que se vuelven invisibles durante el combate a pesar de que se pueda apreciar la silueta de ellos debido a los bordes de las líneas de dibujado y otros enemigos que desaparecen por unos segundos como si nada y te aparecen de golpe en la misma zona.
    Por si fuera poco, tiene muchísimos errores de sonido. Más de una vez he tirado flechas a enemigos y no se escucha ni en el momento de lanzarlas ni en el momento en el que choca contra los enemigos. Además, el juego está repleto de diálogos inacabados que se quedan cortados para empezar con otro nuevo durante todo el momento que controlas a Aloy, fuera de las cinematográficas. Hay incluso momentos en los que en el combate no se escucha absolutamente nada en el momento en el que destruye una máquina o cuando caen rocas/disparos también durante el combate. Por si fuera poco, he tenido ocasiones en las que Aloy se hacía daño durante el combate y el grito de daño venía con retardo o cuando haces la voltereta por el escenario y el ruido de ella también tenía retardo.
    Para colmo, he tenido unas 5-6 veces yendo por el mapa (bastante grande) en las que la pantalla se ha puesto de la nada totalmente en negro unos 3 segundos para cargar el resto del mapa. Esto mientras paseas tranquilamente explorando zonas nuevas.
    En resumen, un juego que habría sido de 9-9,5 si estuviera realmente acabado. Pero esto roza prácticamente lo injugable en muchas ocasiones. Uno puede pensar que es jugable porque se puede pasar de principio a fin, pero eso no justifica todo lo que he comentado durante todo el análisis, lo cual tienes que soportarlo en cada momento del juego.
    Pero claro, la gente dirá que hoy en día los juegos son tan grandes y tan complejos comparados a los de hace 20 años que es imposible lanzarlo sin errores... nada más y nada menos que lo que hay hoy en día; conformismo. Conformismo porque casi el 100% de los juegos vienen sin acabar y la gente gasta su dinero en él sin importarles nada. Y lo de este videojuego es un claro ejemplo.    … Expand

    I am 37 hours in the game and I have completed only 26%. This game is really for the masses, if you don't like big open-world games, you can simply play the main missions and it would take you around 25-30 hours to complete. If you like more content for your money, you can do a whole lot more.

    The 1st few hours can be a bit slow, but once you get into the forbidden west, it really takes off and overall it is one of the best open-world games to ever come out.

    It is not perfect, no game is. It has some technical issues in the performance mode, but that will be fixed within the 1st 2 weeks of release.

    Overall, this game is a solid 9 for me. But I am giving this a 10 just to offset the crazy and stupid people who review bombed this game. Shame on those people.    … Expand

It is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played, and one of the few where I always have the audio on, always listen to dialog, and enjoy the side quests as much as the main mission (not just do them for loot). The only reason not to play Forbidden West right now, is if you haven't played Zero Dawn yet, in which case I would actuallyForbidden West is a triumph of story and gaming.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is AMAZING!!! Battle are hard and keep me alert at all times. And seeing Varl die made me cry SO MUCH. I have cried so much during this game and have felt SOOOO connected to Horizon Forbidden West. I love how the NPC will distract other less dangerous enemies while your fighting the big one like in the Tremor Tusk fight where the NPC you’re with focuson the cult, you attack the Tremor Tusk. Also the game is BEAUTIFUL and you should know I been playing it on PS4 Pro and still beautiful as hell. Also I LOVE how it references the DLC and characters from side mission in Zero Dawn. Like this game gives those characters more meaning now :) Definitely worth $70 and more :) me personally I preorder the Collector Edition because I enjoy Zero Dawn that much and Forbidden West is my first collector edition ever and don’t regret it AT ALL :) I love it and 100% recommend both Horizon Zero Dawn, The DLC and Horizon Forbidden West :)… Expand

    Graphic is beatiful, very interesting game, only finghts are the same as zero dawn, but more weapons.

    Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

    Horizon Forbidden West is Guerrilla's best game to date, taking Aloy to new heights with a blockbuster release that meets the high standards set by PlayStation in recent years. While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

    Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what everyone thought it would be: an amazing game. It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
