    I am 37 hours in the game and I have completed only 26%. This game is really for the masses, if you don't like big open-world games, you can simply play the main missions and it would take you around 25-30 hours to complete. If you like more content for your money, you can do a whole lot more.

    The side missions are awesome in this game, and visually it has no competition. If you like photo modes in games, this is the game for you. Every picture you click is wallpaper worthy, the character models are phenomenal.

    The 1st few hours can be a bit slow, but once you get into the forbidden west, it really takes off and overall it is one of the best open-world games to ever come out.

    It is not perfect, no game is. It has some technical issues in the performance mode, but that will be fixed within the 1st 2 weeks of release.

    Overall, this game is a solid 9 for me. But I am giving this a 10 just to offset the crazy and stupid people who review bombed this game. Shame on those people.    … Expand

It's beautiful beyond anything I've seen in a game, it's got epic lore, a super compelling premise, streamlined gameplay, lots of puzzles, interesting combat, satisfying weapons/tools, open world exploration... it's just so good.     Horizon Forbidden West represents a feeling of discovery, which always flows parallel to the game experience: underground often, like a river that crosses the bowels of the earth, but also exploding in revealing moments, like a geyser.

    It has been many years since I have been unable to put the controller down. I loved Horizon Zero Dawn and could not imagine that they could do better...but they did. The machines are amazing, the story is excellent, The graphics are unbelievable, and the controller functions very well.     Finally completed the campaign after 60+ hours at 75% completion.
    Character level went well past the level recommended of the final campaign mission making it too easy.
    Then the odd missed side quest/errand seemed pointless!. Far too much boring dialog/cutscenes especially for the side quests and errands. Just ended up skipping most of it. Main campaign is quality also is the combat (as    Finally completed the campaign after 60+ hours at 75% completion.

    The rest of the stuff like some Side Quests, Gauntlet runs, Errands & Salvage contracts is unnecessary padding which ruins the game IMO.
    Also because of the length of the game (due to the boring padding), it’s not something I’d likely return to.

    Honestly, other than the bugs, this game is flawless. It's absolutely stunning, with an incredible soundtrack and captivating storyline. It was a very bittersweet moment for me to finish the game, I wasn't ready to be done with the world of Aloy.

The world is deep and carefully detailed, from the lore to the tribes to the machines. I savored every side quest, every tallneck climb, every underwater dive. When the game ended, I teared up.     While it doesn't run quite as smooth as I'd hope for, this is non the less an excellent sequel filled with interesting NPCs to interact with, a beautiful world to explore, and playing as Aloy once again truly makes you feel like a badass. Whether you're a female playing as her, or even a man playing as her.

    While I loved the first game, it was a ten out of ten, this sequel feels fairly boring in a lot of ways. the skill trees don't feel good, doesn't feel like I'm getting stronger.     This is a gem I keep returning to every now and then. Very fun gameplay, great graphics and interesting story, just like the first game. A must play for PS5 owners.

    The recycle graphics, typical of crosssgen, made me turn up my nose at first, but the care with the side quests and the narration won me over! And look I dropped the first 3x! Using dualsense makes everything better! Unbelievable what a simple controller can do! Excellent game! I just hope the next one shows what the ps5 can really do! And, Guerrilla, I want a new killzone!

    En general el juego es bastante entretenido y disfrutable, eso si, los bugs son bastante molestos, puedes ir andando y sin mas te aparece un enemigo o incluso una montaña.
    En lo personal ningún bug me ha impedido continuar con el progreso, no obstante, si complican el sistema de combate, mas aun cuando te aparecen enemigos de un segundo a otro, fuera de ello creo que es un muy buen titulo.

    Out of all the games I've played recently this one hooked me the most. Other reviews say the story is weak but I am loving it. This game is such a step up from the first one. If you have a ps5 this is a must buy. The world feels so lived in and all the characters are interesting and make you actually care. Aloy is a standout performance.     Simply put this game improves on the original in every way.
    From the visuals, to the combat, traversal options, variety and density of biomes, side quests and quests in general really.
    Absolutely fantastic and the best looking game made to date. Seeing as it's cross gen we are absolutely in for an amazing generation.

    everything is great in this game. starting from the graphics and ending with optional tasks, it's very interesting to do them. they also improved the interface and improved the facial expressions of the characters, which is very interesting to watch and you don't want to miss the cutscenes. improved combat and skill grid, I recommend it to everyone

    Many who rate it poorly, I believe they haven't even played it, in addition to being a long game there's the fan boy war... the specialized media have evaluate the game very poorly.

    Horizon Forbidden West evoluiu de forma magnífica, com lindos gráfico e uma ótimas mecânicas. A história também é muito boa, mas ainda prefiro a do Zero Down, por isso não é um jogo perfeito, mas ainda assim, muito acima da média.

Everywhere you look the game just looks stunning, it performs great, the variety of long-range weapons is sick. You really feel like a hunter in the wild everywhere you go, the cosmetic outfits and face paint looks great. The side characters are allThe game is great. Loved the story, music, environment, combat, etc.. This game is probably the best open world environment I’ve ever seen. Everywhere you look the game just looks stunning, it performs great, the variety of long-range weapons is sick. You really feel like a hunter in the wild everywhere you go, the cosmetic outfits and face paint looks great. The side characters are all unique and interesting, the story has good climax and plot twists. I only have a couple of logistical issues that keep this game from a perfect 10/10 experience. One is the lack of good melee combat; you never use other spears (besides the default) or the shield you have to glide. There is no blocking, parrying, or countering; it seems like the game is primarily a dodge roll and range kind of combat. Second, upgrading your gear is a bit too grindy and mundane, you need specific machine part you can only knock off machines during combat. Chests only ever have crafting gear or items only to sell, and you can’t just kill the specific machine you need the part from and scavenge it for some reason. I hardly had any of my gear upgraded past level 2 because of this. Lastly, a little too much optional dialogue, I’m the kind of guy who likes to listen to everything and not miss anything, but even I was getting bored listening to everything. Overall, I think these issues don’t take away from the fact that this is a great game and deserves everyone’s attention.… Expand

    I am very glad that the forbidden West turned out the way it turned out. I've always wanted to learn more about this universe, but the first part couldn't interest me as much as the second one. Travel, activities, plot, side quests, characters.. And what a visual the game has, it's incredible. Everything turned out cool and interesting. I thank the developers for the work done.     An amazing sequal to horizon zero dawn! The story was amazing and was not what I was expecting. The gameplay mechanics include new techniques and drastically improves on the original. The open world is beautiful and enormous, there is so much to do after the campaign. Definitely makes the list for my top 10 favourite games!

    - херовый паркур (сто тыщ раз не мог зацепиться или прыгнуть правильно)

    У игры охеренный лор, на самом то деле, просто огромная база для построения крутых квестов, сюжетки и т.д. А получается на выходе душный детсад какой-то. Машин интересно убивать, собирать с них железяки и апгрейдить шмот. Хотя, куча гавна в инвентаре под все и всего, меня уже начала бесить потом.

    Когда проходил игру, в некоторых моментах с музыкой и графоном, я был готов простить игре все косяки. Но ежеминутные эмоции не затмили мой разум и не повлияли на итоговую оценку. Все, не хочу про игру больше говорить, Guerilla молодцы, но надо работать дальше и развиваться. Масс Эффектом 2 у меня и не пахло даже.    … Expand

It was still fun, the graphics are updated but it took me a while to see the differences between this gen and last gen. I was finding bugs from time to time. Nothing ground breaking but enough that it was noticable. During one fight a stormbird in the north of the map (while finding armor of a warrior who died) the enemy phased through the map and was no longer fightable. I had to reload my save game twice as it happened a second time and the defeating the bird is a part of the mission. It was during its slam attack when it hit the ground it would just keep going through the map. That was the worst one and ate up about 30-45 minutes of redoing the mission and fight.

    Overall I loved the game but it was lacking in areas. 8/10 will likely play again in the future bugs and all.    … Expand

    It’s actually waaaay better than the first game. Story is well done along with combats and elements. Enjoyed it so much.
    There are some minor issues but they don’t really affect the game play.
    I liked how much they had progressed from the first one, I mean they really added much new stuff to make it more realistic and enjoyable.

It looks absolutely stunning on my PS5, the combat is smooth and fun as ever, the music helps set the tone throughout the game, the characters have really come to life, and it’s essentially improved in the very few ways it fell short by its predecessor. 10/10 would recommend.

    And to all of the people that hate on the game just to hate it, while hundreds of hard working members that worked their tails off to make this game for the last year…….should be shot in the face lol    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Story: It would have been very, very difficult to exceed the stunning sci-fi revelations in the original game, Horizon Zero Dawn. While HFW does throw some wonderful new twists into the mix, it does not quite match up to the awe I felt in HZD when Project Zero Dawn was revealed. I was blinking back tears at the ambition, scientific prowess, and sacrifice required to get it done. That said, while the science fiction doesn't quite measure up to the first game (it is still great!) the characters and growth of interpersonal relationships are quite a bit better. My single biggest complaint about the story was the absolute emotional gut punch that came near the end. Really took the wind out of my sails. Another complaint I have is that the story hinges on Aloy overcoming her "go it alone" pathology and building up team of fellow badasses to take on new threats, but continued to have her be more or less solely responsible for saving the day. This is a perpetual problem of the hero fantasy genre - if the other characters are great and well written, as they are here, they deserve to shine and have meaningful victories independent of the protagonist.

    The World: The lore building in HZD was first class, and that continues to be the case in the sequel. Data-points abound with new revelations about the old ones and their myriad interpretations by the various tribes. Side quests are also excellent this time around, with much better voice acting and motion capture giving the sense that the world is richly populated and churning with intrigue. On top of all that, the world looks absolutely stunning. Best looking environments I have ever seen, and they are much more diverse than the first game. From underwater caves hidden in snowy mountaintops to the tidal pools of a ruined San Francisco, the natural world is a main character of this franchise and it shows. The machines also feel more varied and deadly this go around. Come unprepared to a fight and some of them are down right terrifying.

    The Mechanics: Combat is much more complex this time around, for better and worse. Weapon diversity is great, but I felt that in order to figure out which weapons were actually the most effective I would have had to endlessly grind at the upgrade treadmill. So I just picked a few favorites and focused on them. As in the first entry, combat feels awesome. Machines are fast and lethal, but so is Aloy. The biggest mechanical complaint I have is with climbing. The focus system feels clunky - like a debug tool that accidentally got left in the game. I realize climbing systems are hard and that the terrain here is much more complex than in Breath of the Wild, but nevertheless climbing feels like a weak point of an otherwise visceral exploration experience. I should also add that several pain points of the first game - for example too much time spent in inventory menus - have been cleverly addressed in HFW.

    Overall: Buy it. Will almost certainly be my game of the year.    … Expand

    Also, just a matter of personal preference, the combat was a bit over complicated, but I understand some people would love it like that.

    An excellent game which is fun and adventurous. I enjoyed the gameplay mechanics and level design. However, I found the story line too political at points and I didn't find Aloy likeable.

    Horizon Forbidden West is definitely a major improvement from the first game. While it was difficult to follow the story since they don't explain much, and it's been years since I played Zero Dawn I quite enjoyed the plot to restore Gaia and see the growth of Aloy and other characters. Combat feels solid and responsive, there is a good variety of weapons to choose from, and resources being more abundant is an improvement from Zero Dawn. The machines are balanced well enough with bosses being a reasonable challenge but not devolving into cheap Soulsborne pandering like many contemporary game devs love to partake in. However, most of the enemies in the open world aren't worth fighting, as they take too much time and effort and provide minimal XP. Which leads me to the worst aspect of this game, the level structure of the missions forces you to grind and do some side quests which really slows down progress. There is a massive level increase of the missions at the end of the game, so grinding and side quests are basically a requirement. The final boss is also incredibly difficult and takes a lot of time to beat if you aren't high level. Overall, Horizon Forbidden West is a great improvement over the original and deserves the 8/10 rating.… Expand

    It was really engaging but side quests took the engagement away from the story. (if you don't do side quests the machines will kick your butt).     the negatives of this game is that they nerfed Aloy and buffed the machines, which made the combat very unbalanced. the new combat system, skill tree, platform jumping and AI spam moves was very disappointing. it is still a good game but I wished more of the first game. I didn't like the new additions to the core game.
    If you are a fan of the first game, this is for you. if not, then probably you wouldn't like it.
    I know the story in the next game will be amazing but I hope they don't overwhelm it with too much useless skills and special moves and weapon    … Expand

    I'm a huge fan of the first game, so I know my views may be biased, but for me, this is a great game.
    Is it perfect? No, not quite, but it is damned close.

    Water, fish, trees and the machines are all top notch, not to mention Aloy herself. In fact, during the cut scenes, the human animations are almost perfect. The little details in the working villages, seeing everyone doing stuff, makes it feel like a lived in world.
    Voice acting is solid. Music is subtle, but well balanced. The noise of the world itself, again, great.
    Combat is such good fun, and you can really play to your style, with tons of options, from laying traps, sniping whilst hiding in grasses, or full on full-frontal assaults. The controls and movements are crisp and really responsive.
    The story is engaging, the exploration is fun, and some of the puzzles are decent, if not quite Tomb Raider levels.
    All in all, I loved this game, but I would probably take it down to an 8.5 if I could (I couldn't so it gets a nine) for the following reasons.
    Aloy's voice sometimes becomes super quiet and I struggle to hear her.
    When you arrive at a puzzle, if you don't get it almost immediately, she starts giving out hints that are often just the solution. Jeez, give me a moment to look around!
    Aloy does sometimes like to get stuck on a climb, refusing to reach up for the next hand-hold, which can get annoying.
    Just to note, I
    Lastly, I like to clear an area first, and then move on, and the story makes that impossible, so there is a lot of doubling back to earlier locations to complete areas. It's fine, but just, for me, a little frustrating.
    All in all though, very, very enjoyable, and well worth picking up.    … Expand

    Honestly incredible. Every side quest feels meaningful and interconnected to the story in some way. The characters are endearing beyond belief. World is obviously gorgeous, pulsing with potential and adventure while still maintaining an ultimate goal that remains clear throughout.

    This game also adds a ton of new content for players to enjoy.    This is the most fun I've had playing a game in a long time.     This game also adds a ton of new content for players to enjoy. New weapons, new outfits, new skills, new skill trees, new abilities, new tools, new traversal options, new robots, new characters, new factions, new traversal options, and even brand new board game that's pretty fun.
    Combat is engaging. There are so many different arenas, enemies and ways to approach combat. You can go for a stealth build, laying down traps and going for sneak attacks. You can go in "guns" blazing. You can try to deal as much raw damage as possible, or try to target specific components to disable abilities and gain upgrades. You can remove weapons from your enemies and use it against them. Even something as simple as a bow and arrow has a ton of variety to it? Do you want a bow that shoots fast, or one that shoots slower, but does more damage or tears off components easier? Do you want to prioritize dealing damage, or would you like to inflict status effects to weaken your opponent before going in for the kill?
    This game also greatly expands upon the world established in zero dawn. You get to learn more about stuff established in the previous game, and you get to learn about brand new aspects of the world. You also get to learn about how the factions you're familiar with interact with the factions you're meeting for the first time.
    I would give this game a perfect 10, but there are a few small things that keep me from doing this. Some of the returning characters feel like they don't have a lot to do, and the dialogue with them can feel kinda empty, complete with unnecessary theatre-type. movements and gestures. Sometimes enemy AI can be a little weird too. I've had a few instances where I was in combat, and my enemy just kinda left, and I had to chase them down again. Some of the enemies can also feel a little too tanky at times as well.
    Overall however, some of the most fun I've had playing a game in a long time and I wish people were talking about this game more.    … Expand

I mean without any spoilers I thought it will be more interesting in the last mission… but still whole word created by Guerrilla Games is amazing. 9.5/10 for me !! Can’t wait next part….

    Amazing game. Improved in all aspects from Zero Dawn. The side quest are the best ive seen in any other open world game. Fun new mechanics and the habilities on the skill trees are so much fun and give variety on the combat. Very good story aswell.

    Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
