    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first installment of horizon really surprised me in so many ways. The story, characters and the overall look of it really made me fall in love with open-world single player genre of games together with GoD. So I was really looking forward to forbidden west and so far I’m enjoying the game a lot. As a person who really like to get to know the story and get to every corner of the world of horizon, there is a lot to attend. Just completed restoring GAIA yesterday and that’s just 1/3 of the map with a lot of stuff to still complete. When it comes to the game overall, I think they made a good improvement from the first game. On thing that caught my eye from the get go is the cinematics and dialog between the characters - the first game was good but I would say lagged a bit of nuance and emotion. In forbidden west it’s much more intense and full of emotions from there movement to there facial expression. The story so far is great and enjoyable, graphics is amazing and the game runs smoothly on my PS5 :) If I had some complaints to throw in here; I have stumbled upon a few cinematic glitches (nothing huge, but gave me a good laugh), one single notification bug in the collection part of the menu and I do have to say that the movement in tight spaces is a bit awkward sometimes. The same goes to some of the climbing movement, but again nothing really major. Overall I’m really positive about the game and it was a bit of fresh air from the terrible releases we have had so far this year (mainly looking at BF2042 and few other big titles). Big thump ups from one happy fan. Keep up the great work and I’m looking forward for what comes in the future of Horizon :)… Expand

    Jogo muito bom, estou jogando e tem muita coisa se fazer, gráficos ótimos, recomendo fazer missões secundárias e explorar o mapa.

    One of the most amazing games I've ever played! Graphics looks SO beautiful, very life like and hard to believe it's a game and not actually real, sometimes I wonder how they can make such technology today and I'm thankful and grateful I'm still around to be apart of it. There is SO much to do in the game, a lot of side missions and relics to hunt for etc, only the main missions felt a bitOne of the most amazing games I've ever played!     This is why you upgrade to a PS5. The game look gorgeous. I have been playing on performance mode. This means 60fps and 1440p output. My son has been playing on quality mode at 30fps and full 4k. Quality mode is tempting. As good as 60fps feels, quality mode looks so much more realistic. There is no right or wrong answer on which mode to play.

    The story in the game is just as great as in the prior game. Masterclass is the the best way to describe the story from bits of lore in the world to the main story and side stories. This game is like the PS5’s The Witcher 3 moment. So far, the PS5 has seen a few timeloop games and PS5 upgrades of PS4 games. Only now are we getting a truly giant AAA game to show off the system. (No disrespect to Ratchet and Clank. I’m sure the game is great but at $70, I will wait for a sale.) My play through of this vast world took 89 hours and I still have 11% of the game left to complete (although I have no idea what else I could do!).

    The game continues the addicting robot fighting. The same rules apply although traps seem less useful this time, maybe because of the trap limit (starting with 2). The robots seem more aggressive, like they did in the Frozen Wilds expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn. At normal mode, death is no stranger and many fights will exhaust health and healing supplies. Scab your enemies to plan accordingly. Even after finishing the game, I feel the itch to fight machines. Maybe its the design of the beasts. Why is there no toy line to accompany this game?

    This game is not perfect. I usually buy a game on sale long after all the bugs are fixed. There are a few graphical issues like items floating or enemies stuck in the environment. The most inconvenient bug is when you cannot interact with a quest item. Reloading from a save point has fixed these problems for me. There are few items and interactive objects that appear as leftovers from the development process. These may be easter eggs.

    The game also overestimates my patience for grinding for upgrade gear. Levels are obtained quickly enough that unlocking skills was a non-issue. But upgrading gear is a chore. Too much of a chore. My advice is to select “Custom” for difficulty and choose “Easy Loot”. Even with Easy Loot, you have to destroy a dozen of the same machine to upgrade high level gear. Maybe don’t bother. Many of the upgrade issues have been resolved via patches, and your experience will be better than mine. The robot dinosaur fights have their own issues. Traps seem less useful. The robots are a little too aggressive. You are supposed to shoot off a weapon from the robot and use it against them. Good luck. By the time you pick it up, the robot is on top of you or spamming you with area of effect attacks. The best strategy is always to find a piece of cover above the robot’s spawn point and a safe distance from its area attacks. I would love to see more strategies that are just as viable, such as fighting from a mount or leading the robot into a gauntlet of traps. Or maybe I’m playing it wrong. Sandbox games like this can support many strategies.

    All-in-all, Horizon Forbidden West is a must-play experience. Because of the patches since launch, I can give this game a perfect 10/10. However, the game really nails the accessibility options. You will be able to finish this story and have fun doing it. Not sure how you handle a Fireclaw on ultra hard. Those were tough fights.    … Expand

    Tarda unas horas en arrancar, pero cuando lo hace no hay vuelta atrás. La secuela de Zero Dawn mejora en todo a su predecesor, ofreciendo horas de contenido de calidad, combates asombrosos y un apartado visual al alcance de pocas compañías. Un must de PS5.

    The game is absolutely gorgeous on PS5. Better in every way from the first game. I would like to see a 40FPS mode added for 120hz TVs to more games like this though. The performance mode looks good but not quite as good as fidelity. I feel like a 40fps fidelity mode with 4k resolution and slight tweaks would be perfect for this game. Maybe one day this will be more standard.

    I think the people who give this game a bad review are the ones who like to skip cut scenes, side missions and just brag "look how fast i finished the game mommy!" But if you want to take your time explore every settlement when you get to it, then this is a great game. And then you got the "the game is to much like the first one" complaint.....well if it aint broke don't fix it!

    I'm not done playing it yet, but the game itself is an amazing breath of fresh air on the PS5. The characters, plot, action, and even the chess-like mini game inside of it are all spectacular. The open world feels more open, and the combat is greatly improved with new features. The skill tress are better as well, and the voice actors are top tier.     Been playing this game since launch. Guerrilla Games have done an outstanding job in improving HZD and creating a beautiful game in HFW. The DualSense has added a great sense of immersion. Phenomenal experience and another great game to add to my library.

    Horizon Forbidden West does a lot of things as good or even better than Zero Dawn: The gameplay is more fun and complex and there is a lot to explore on a well designed new map.     While I did enjoy some of the characters, there were just too many. The good thing is most side characters get their own sidequests so they at least get fleshed out a little, but still not enough to really connect to them. This is one of my biggest problems with the game as well. Although the story setting was good and in theory emotional, it was lacking emotion most of the time. Additionally, the clear goal of the developers was to go bigger not better and while the story isn't terrible, the pacing and writing, especially in the second half, are off. Aloy's personal journey is still the most intriguing and her character is still great, but she doesn't see a lot of development here. Out of all the characters she is the best written one by far, which helps the game a lot since she is the main character. I was thinking about giving this a 9/10 instead since I was addicted to playing and I will get that plat trophy for sure, but I just didn't feel the way I did after the first game when the credits rolled. In fact, a part of me was happy the story was done so I could move on to doing more fun stuff. It is a great game and one of the best I've played in the last few months, but the story issues keep it from being a masterpiece like this first one.    … Expand

    Where part one felt alone and solitaire at times part 2 feels like you are actually building a team of friends.
    There is room for some quality of life improvements but those shouldn't even be mentioned.

    First off, the weapon and combat is packed with much more moves and weapon features. I do feel that it is quite OVER-whelming how much of it you are pushed on to learn. As of close combat, i just felt like mashing buttons all the time. Combat can also seem tedious at times, as machines constantly knocks you over where you spend copious amount of time getting up into the fight again, you find your self knocked over again as soon as you get up. Best tactics to me was the heavies bow you got and take em out from disctance.

    I think the map you running around on has been updated with much classier locations too. This time they added much more underwater levels to explore, and swimming can be tedious to do at times, but fluid and fun once you get the flow going. Just to take a dip in the ocean is a marvellous relaxing experience by itself.

    Story follows suit and continue on developing. I do feel Aloy has certain personality issues we are not told. The fact that she constantly narrates almost her every action what she does and what she is about to do can be annoying for your brain at times. She talks, suggests and seem to know every move where to go and what to do as she continuously feeds you hints all the time.
    The cut scenes are tiresome, long and in complete abundance trough out the game. I found myself just skipping most side quest dialogue and focused on the main story, to save me from watching the game rather than playing it too much.

    Controls are at the worst when climbing. I am getting the old Assassins Creed problem of jumping around where she should not jump. Miss calculations and often rage of not doing what i want her to do.
    On ground Aloy is fast and swift, but i kept on foot most of the time as riding machines felt stale, janky and hard to manoeuvre. Mind you, i did not try riding all machines as i write this since in this game you can learn to tame and ride pretty much every machine as you go. Which is cool.

    The first Horizon, i played after it had been out for some time. I would say it was by far the most stable and Bug free game i had played in recent times. But in this game, the bugs can come and go. It is almost unavoidable to not have bugs in the games today which are so complex compared to the old days. I had severe dialogue audio drop out many many times, and falling trough the infinity due to missing land textures (Especially when you exited trough GAIAs chamber).

    Still i think Forbidden West is a great time spender. Beautiful visually. Great maps. But as usual, the standard fare of find, and collect repeat and rinse for a trophy or whatever, but not so severe as formulaic made open world games. Game does not break new grounds, both in Open World concept or being a sequel in its own domain. Its worth the purchase.    … Expand

Not to mention they don't really have any real ability to criticize this game. Give it up Xbox fanboys y'all are losers and you're just jealous bc no one plays Halo anymore get ovet it. Over all amazing game very polished and great story telling not to mention I think the new added features are cool asf.     Una de las experiencias más bellas que he visto en un videojuego. Es cierto que se le puede achacar cierto continuismo en sus mecánicas de mundo abierto, pero su apartado técnico es tan sublime, que no le pongo un 11 porque no existe. Recomendadísimo.

Lo anterior no es malo, en absoluto, pero siempre es bueno el tener algún tipo de avance. Y lo tenemos. El árbol de habilidades, por ejemplo, es mucho más amplio.     JUGABILIDAD:
    Yo amé H:ZD, para mí fue de lo mejor y más divertido en la generación anterior, y H:FW se siente, de manera inicial, bastante continuista respecto al primer título. Lo anterior no es malo, en absoluto, pero siempre es bueno el tener algún tipo de avance.
    Y lo tenemos.

    El árbol de habilidades, por ejemplo, es mucho más amplio. Los efectos de la comida, que aunque ya se han visto en cientos de juegos me gustó tenerlos por acá.
    Tenemos un HUD que es menos intrusivo (y lo prefiero así), y que con un ligero desliz en el touchpad podemos obtener información extra sin necesidad de abrir el menú.
    Tenemos una cantidad BRUTAL de maquinas a las que enfrentarnos, cada una con variaciones muy notables dentro de sí misma.

    Las bondades del Playstation 5 también son muy notorias: las pantallas de carga están básicamente por costumbre, ya que duran… menos de un segundo, y hacen del viaje rápido algo muy ameno. Y esa vibración tan precisa en el Dualsense, combinada con el uso de los gatillos, es excelente en inmersión.

    La historia principal sí queda por debajo del primer titulo (y tampoco está tan bien contada), aunque tiene una conclusión prometedora.

    Por lo demás, muchísimo contenido: misiones principales y secundarias, mandados, terrenos de caza, campamentos, contratos, carreras, fosos, ruinas, cajas negras. Uff. Es... demasiado. Un tanto abrumador y cansino de seguir con todo. Aunque tampoco es precisamente malo el tener opciones, sí me hubiera gustado una narrativa un poco mas centrada.
    El mini juego de asalto me gustó bastante, aunque o no termino de entenderlo, o tiene algunas fallas en la jugabilidad/inteligencia artificial (de pronto las únicas jugadas del oponente son huir de ti, y esto no es ajedrez, no tengo intención de pasar 1 hora metido en un minijuego)

    ¿Los Calderos? siguen siendo aburridisimos.

    GRÁFICOS:
    Cuando leí las primeras impresiones respecto al apartado visual del juego, me parecían bastante exageradas. No lo son, visualmente (tanto gráficos como dirección de arte) son increíbles.

    Es difícil discernir las cinemáticas del juego en sí, y las expresiones faciales están en otro nivel.
    A lo largo del juego veremos partículas, reflejos del sol, polvo, cenizas, flores que llenan la pantalla. Y es un espectáculo hermoso y muy acorde con la ambientación.
    Si le sumamos los diferentes diseños de vestuario y colonias de las diferentes tribus, y la cantidad, diseño y detalle de las maquinas (sin mencionar la flora y fauna), queda claro que la calidad cinematográfica de Playstation es palpable, y nos emociona a niveles poco antes vistos.

    No se engañen: Forbidden West pasará a la historia como un referente gráfico de la actual generación.

    This game is probably the most beautiful game I have ever played the storyline is brilliantly well writte. The gameplay is fun had some minor glitches that are happening some are kind of usefull for me I exploited most of the enemies because of those. specially the corner shooting lol most machines just stops and let me kill them when they get stuck in a corner.

    Just like Horizon Zero Dawn- Forbidden West fills the shoes of Alloy on a tremendous journey that is close to being a masterpiece just like HZD. Both of these games are easy 9s! I bought a Playstation just to play Horizon Zero Dawn, so of course I got Forbidden West and it didn't disappoint. Great game!

    Horizon Forbidden West is really really good. Guerrila did an amazing job improving basically everything from Horizon Zero Dawn. Graphics are at the top or any game out there.

    Pros: - Best graphics in 2022. - Beautiful open world with amazing and varied environments. - Everything is improved from Horizon Zero Dawn, literally everything. - All characters, NPCs included are motion    Horizon Forbidden West is really really good. Guerrila did an amazing job improving basically everything from Horizon Zero Dawn. Graphics are at the top or any game out there.

    Pros:
    - Best graphics in 2022.
    - Beautiful open world with amazing and varied environments.
    - Everything is improved from Horizon Zero Dawn, literally everything.
    - All characters, NPCs included are motion capped. It's crazy!
    - Story had very interesting twists!
    - Varied amount of weapons & armors that allow different playstyles.

    Cons:
    - This game favors more exploration than combat. You can spend literally 1 hour on a quest cause this game is filled with puzzles. This can make the game very tedious.
    - Several bugs & crashes.
    - It is true, the excesive use of fog to hide pop in is really annoying. This could be cause of PS4 not being able to render the game as fats as the PS5.
    - Several stuttering in Performance mode.

    The game is definetly a 9, however, the game came out with a lot bugs, crashes and areas of improvement for Performance mode, so I'm taking 1 point because of that.

    I hope we get a sequel to continue this VERY interesting story and focusing a little bit more on combat than exploration. Anyway, PS is still killing it with amazing experiences!    … Expand

    AMAZING GAME, if u loved the first then you should know they def went all out making this better. Its much better with no boring aspects and so much fun. I give it a nine because it doesn't give you the "wow its a great time to be a gamer moment" (kind of like how a specific game makes you feel like wow this is amazing) kind of like God of war, Zelda, AND ELDEN RING!

Aloy's story is far grander this time around and builds on the amazing lore established in Zero Dawn. The large variety of landscapes in the word instilled in me a sense of wonder and stimulated my exploration. ThisHorizon Forbidden West elevates itself above a lot of other games under the label of sequel. Vast improvements were made across the board in regards to gameplay and graphics.     Absolutely a - masterpiece. I love almost everything about this game. Just recently finished Horizon Zero dawn, which I liked as well and it was so cool to got straight into next chapter. Forbidden west now is much more detailed, much bigger, there are finally great role-play mechanics in the game. World is so detailed and beautiful, I never even used fast travel so far. Not much word toAbsolutely a - masterpiece. I love almost everything about this game.     Always amazed by the environment they build and story is phenomenal!! Exploring the open world is so addictive, side quests also more enjoyable than previous game HZD!!

    Overall enjoyed really well, don’t want to complete the final mission!!

    This game is also one of the reason I want PS5.

    Really enjoyed Zero Dawn and really enjoying Forbidden West. About 12 hours in so far and no bugs, great graphics, smooth performance. Not a single issue playing in both graphics mode or performance mode. Great job Gorilla, yet another awesome game!

A cosmetic bug here or there like landscapes taking an extra second to render in cut scenes so that’s to be expected with an initial release and I’m sure future updates coming soon will patch that up.     This is the perfect example of a potential masterpiece that gets bogged down by too side content. The side quests and errands are substantially longer in HFW than they were in HZD, and there are a lot of them. There aren't enough main quests, and if you want to do everything as you go along to avoid missing story you end up being too strong and overleveled for the main quests.     I haven't been able to put this game down since getting it. It's gorgeous, the combat is amazing and flexible for different styles of play, and the story is wildly entertaining. I am invested in all the characters and the lore, and even though I've been playing for almost 30 hours, the completion percentage isn't even close to 50%. Well worth the money!

    Amazingly detailed and beautiful game with a strong female protagonist and great storyline. Game play on PS4 has been seamless. I'm constantly blown away by the attention to detail and how life like the mannerisms and facial expressions of all the NPCs are. Highly recommend this game!

    I have so much time on the game and it's already so fun! I've gotten 50 percent already. Those review bombing it are probably people who have never seen a woman, seeing as they didn't know that women have peach fuzz

    14 hours in and it's really fantastic. I'm playing on PS5 and the have very few complaints. Story so far is really good and has had a pretty cool/unexpected twist, and is certainly living up to the original. I loved HZD because its story centered around the unraveling of a satisfying mystery, but most of it is solved by the end so I was worried the sequel wouldn't hold my interest as much.14 hours in and it's really fantastic. I'm playing on PS5 and the have very few complaints. Story so far is really good and has had a pretty cool/unexpected twist, and is certainly living up to the original. I loved HZD because its story centered around the unraveling of a satisfying mystery, but most of it is solved by the end so I was worried the sequel wouldn't hold my interest as much. However, it does a great job of building up new mysteries so that's great. Only complaints are climbing and mount riding can be janky, and I've seen some visual issues such as floating plants and some npcs loading in late, but nothing too bothersome or game-breaking. 9/10 for me… Expand

    Great game, all the things we loved from HZD and more, conversations can get long but the people wanted more story and that's what you got. New combat changes and weapons are great and more challenging. Can't wait for the DLC and I'm not even done with the full game. Trolls can go play Halo.

    However the game does have its hiccups with bugs but wasnt game breaking. If you fall through the floor or whatever, literally just reload from the last save option in the pause menu.     Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
