    What a game. I don't know what kind of people would give it 0. They're definitely born outta random Karens. Beautiful game, like it's predecessor, engaging, amazing graphics, what a story & good combat system. If not extremely good, but it's fluid. 10/10 for me, total package.

    Horizon forbidden west continues the great legacy of is predecessor with a deep and refreshing word with interesting character, With great gameplay to go with it this game has lived up to my high expectations. I applaud the team at Guerrilla games

    A step up from an amazing game! Small bugs aside and an iffy "resolution" mode, I still find this one of my favorite games of all time. There is so much to do and it doesn't feel grindy at all. One of the best stories in a game coupled to extremely fun combat. Stealth is fun as well. Just awesome...

    I think this is one of the mostly beautiful games I have ever played. The characters feel real (a huge improvement from Zero Dawn). It looks like they really did something with the critics from Zero Dawn. The visuals are so amazing I often find myself just enjoying the view. The story (so far) is amazing too. And the open world is like no other. There is so much to do. That 10 hours in theI think this is one of the mostly beautiful games I have ever played. The characters feel real (a huge improvement from Zero Dawn). It looks like they really did something with the critics from Zero Dawn. The visuals are so amazing I often find myself just enjoying the view. The story (so far) is amazing too. And the open world is like no other. There is so much to do. That 10 hours in the game I haven't even made it to 'The F West'.

    I really don't understand the negative critics. Ik see people write about 'woke' and all other things. Firs of all the fact that the lead character is a woman is a welcome change. If you you masculinity can't handle this, that's on you. Furthermore you might come across a LGBT person. Wow big shock, just like in real life. There's nothing being pushed here (and what if there was?). If these are reasons for you not to buy the best game out here, that on your fragile masculinity. In that case you are not worth the best game of the year.

    If you love amazing graphics, action and suspense, a huge open world full of meaningful (side-) quest (not your typical (boring) fetch-quest) you should 100% buy this game!    … Expand

    The game runs flawlessly on PS5. The bugs the 0/10 people are saying is there, aren't there. They merely like to review bomb. Sites like this should be avoided by game developers as a measurement to determine if a game gets dlc or sequels made. The game is a beautiful masterpiece. The story is phenomenal. Combat is good, graphics are good, overall, one of the best exclusives Sony has.

    IMHO I believe that this is a great game... I gave is a 9 because of this. It has is flaws(every game does, especially after it had just released).. However, Horizon: Forbidden West is no Culyberpunk 2077 nor is it like Anthem in terms of quality after launch.

    I believe a huge part of why this game is getting review bombed is because gamers have evolved from actually loving games to    IMHO I believe that this is a great game... I gave is a 9 because of this. It has is flaws(every game does, especially after it had just released).. However, Horizon: Forbidden West is no Culyberpunk 2077 nor is it like Anthem in terms of quality after launch.

    I believe a huge part of why this game is getting review bombed is because gamers have evolved from actually loving games to gamers now being 50/50 where 50% see the game as an amazing game and understand that no game is perfect at launch and the other 50% acting like spoiled adults who expect nothing less than flawless.

    With this in mind, ONLY YOU can be the judge of the quality of the game.

The game is a continuation of the first, it doesn't have too many new features, but when something is good based on little else it can be improved, on playstation 5 the textures and shading are wonderful, I finished the main story in 21 hours and it lasts perfectly , Extending it more would be unnecessary. I look forward to a new installment to see its graphic evolution in the new generation 100%.… Expand

    Excellent game with a heartfelt story. I was able to complete it in three days(a little over 32 hours with decent side mission). While i give horizon zero down 9.5/10, due to repetition of a few things like plants collection and hunting (both felt boring), i gave this 9/10 (finally I can agree with IGN after TLOU2), not amounting to the bugs I encountered during the game, which willExcellent game with a heartfelt story. I was able to complete it in three days(a little over 32 hours with decent side mission). While i give horizon zero down 9.5/10, due to repetition of a few things like plants collection and hunting (both felt boring), i gave this 9/10 (finally I can agree with IGN after TLOU2), not amounting to the bugs I encountered during the game, which will improve as the game gets older. It has one of the best next-gen graphics in the Open-world game. I played the game in performance mode with 60 FPS, and it looked gorgeous. This time I truly felt the vibes of exploration, and the game has its own unique rewards for doing so.

    One piece of advice, don’t see any spoilers if you are going to play the game. Trust me, the game has terrific pacing, and you will enjoy every moment.    … Expand

Devs take notice how to quickly address issues instead of us playing the waiting game the 10 is for the the haters as well I'm about 20 hrs in.     This game is amazing! I play games for the story and this games has an amazing story! the game play is good, the combat, crafting, and puzzles fairly balanced. on easy i will see i felt like i was flooded with crafting materials.
    The quests are especially fun and build the story well. The fact that I can create a job around a side quest I want to complete is so nice!

    One of the best video game stories ever! Guerilla games has developed a world that is simply beautiful. Zero Dawn was awesome but this game takes it to another level. Everything from the animations to the weapons has been improved. PS5 really shows it’s shine here. The graphics and attention to detail is on a level that most games will pale in comparison.

    One of the best game I’ve ever played, visually stunning and massive improvement from the first one, an open world that has exceeded my expectations in every way possible and a dense and complex story which won’t be like to some because of those reasons but will be the perfect one for people who likes movies, books and tv shows with this level of complexity, a masterpiece

    I really enjoyed this sequel. It changes up the plot pacing and themes vs the first game to keep things fresh.

    The face modeling also stood out compared to the first game, where the models really looked like they were talking in this one.

    This game really doesn't fill in a ton of gaps from the first game, so you'll probably want to play the first.

    If you enjoy playing single player, story driven open world games like ghost of Tsushima, red dead 2 etc, this is a must play game.
    Combat is slick, varied and challenging, beautiful scenary and lots to explore. Character models are excellent, the story is epic, full of twists and original. The gfx speak for themselves, and the attention to detail    Best game I’ve played for years.

    Such a shame so many people review bomb it with rediculous of low score for no reason, they’ve clearly not played it and just want to hate on Sony for whatever reason.

As far as gameplay goes, more of the same winning formula from the first one. A few new weapons but nother Earth Shattering, just a little more variety.     So to "eveyone" Review Bombing this game, most useless excuses I see here are the following:
    1.) Bad Graphics - Where for art thou, I have yet to see any at all? Very minor loading of things, beautiful best graphic game since Red Dead Redemption 2.
    2.) No New Gameplay - So pretty much everything that is the game itself is not there, diving, gliding, enhanced visuals for climbing with the    So to "eveyone" Review Bombing this game, most useless excuses I see here are the following:

    5.) Characters themselves - So are we actually talking Horizon Zero Dawn at this point? They are waaaay more expressive and not "choppy and bland." like their predecessors.
    6.) Bad Writing - So far story wise its been great, a step up from previous title. Are you sure your not reading a script from The Room?
    7.) Combat Mechanics - Feel clunky. ( -_- ) No far from it. Alloy moves much more fluently then she ever has, with a more extensive arsenal at your finger tips.
    I feel this game has come a long way from its previous title in the series, the longer the game takes to make or is delayed, the better the game will be, always.    … Expand

    The game is gorgeous, it plays well, and the character development is amazing. A few minor framerate glitches here and there, about 4 in 40+ hours of play, for me. The story can "start slow" for some, but I didn't feel that way.

    HFW has managed to improve on almost all aspects of HZD, which is very rare these days from a sequel. The graphics are absolutely stunning and the combat feels just as good as the first. The new machines are absolutely incredible and the new weapons to take them on are very fun to use.

    My biggest worry going into the game was the story. HZD had such a unique story and I was worried that    HFW has managed to improve on almost all aspects of HZD, which is very rare these days from a sequel. The graphics are absolutely stunning and the combat feels just as good as the first. The new machines are absolutely incredible and the new weapons to take them on are very fun to use.

    My biggest worry going into the game was the story. HZD had such a unique story and I was worried that HFW wasn't going to be able to capture that same charm now that the mystery behind the Old Ones had been revealed. But holy cow has HFW delivered on the story! I cannot get enough of the lore and I'm always choosing every available dialogue option to hear every little tidbit. This is a game that's truly worth of 9's and 10's unlike Elden Ring.    … Expand

    Horizon Forbidden West is a Sequel that greatly improves upon Zero Dawn. From improved graphics to the stunning story telling. I won't spoil though I will say their are many times in the story where your gonna be pleasantly surprised. Especially when it comes to returning characters.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely amazing!! An improvement on the first one in almost everything! Sure, combat could get very hectic and I cursed at the screen quite a few times, but even so - it took me a little over 100 hours of mostly glorious playtime to finish the main quest, all major side missions, and explore this huge and living world to my heart's content, and I only encountered two or three times where there was a slight glitch in the environment where a plant clipped into Aloy somewhere for a second - no other other bugs whatsoever. A very polished game from the day one! I had quite high expectations, and they managed to surpass even those. There were fewer side quests, but every one of them felt hand-crafted and interesting. There were tons of other , more generic repetitive things to do as well, such as taking over enemy camps and getting specific machine parts, and I liked that these were in their separate category, not labelled as side quest. So I knew what I could expect, pretty much. The graphics were good, the only thing that stood out a bit was the cutscene weirdness sometimes... characters would have awkward pauses, or they would look in a weird direction, not directly at their conversation partner. I don't whether that was deliberate, but overall I can forgive that for the whole incredible experience this game delivers. The story is an interesting continuation from the first one - this game delivers something truly unique in its entirety, something that has not been told in this form before, which is pretty rare, actually. There were so many moments where I thought, 'Oh my god, I have never done this in a video game before!!', and that's quite a feat. Even the ending credits are mind-blowingly beautiful. The only thing I am sad about right now, is that I might have to wait another five years to be able to play the final installment of this amazing experience. I really can't wait to fly to victory on the wings of the ten again :)… Expand

    A fantastic and beautiful game. Sequels usually have a lot to live up to and its hard to make a good one. But in this case, Guerrilla Games did an awesome job. This game builds from Zero Dawn in almost every way. As of now, this game has some of the best graphics ever made, and its probably Horizon's number one strength.     So the graphics, size and gameplay is better than the first one. But the story is weaker and slower. It is "sequel quality". The first one moved the story and revealed something interesting in almost every main mission. FW has like three really heavy story focured missions. The rest feels like filler that is put there just to extent the gameplay.

    Deserving of the highest praise, H:FW is the best western style open world since Ghost of Tsushima. Whilst it lacks the depth of the combat of Elden Ring, the world building in H:FW is way beyond anything that From Software has ever managed. It is.beautiful to behold and utterly compelling. The story and character arcs are well crafted and accessible. Utterly brilliant.

It's a behavior similar to mine, as a player - there's the gate, just let me through. Nooooo, you need to complete 54 quests for it to open. Horizon says - fork it, we're coming through. A nice refreshment.

    Fight mechanics as good as in the original game, characters look like real humans, not some bimbos or hunks with 6-packs. No, they look like they would survive in such a wild world.

    The game is big, I've spent over 70hrs, finished the main story and still at only 54%. Lots of stuff still to be done.

    Also... it's visually stunning and I have a PS4. What they achieved at Guerilla with this game is magnificent. I found myself looking at lightning effets (machines light going through high grass which flows on the wind...). Very very impressive.

    I am giving it a 9/10 because of somewhat of a letdown of the final act and not that intuitive skill development trees - similar abilities are enhanced in various places so you don't clearly see the end result of this or other choices you make.

    Other than that - definately a system seller, great adventure which squeezes all of PS4's juices to the max, still enabling stable FPS. This is how things should be done, CDPR :)    … Expand

    There's alot of good here that people will point to as a system seller. The graphics are phenomenal and it has some of the best motion capture I've ever seen in a game, especially in the faces. It really made a huge impact for my play through as the emotions of every single character, whether they were just a small, bit player or a huge main character, was amazing. There's also tons of talent here as many famous voice actors show up here that you will recognize from major games and anime. Lance Reddick reprises his role as Sylens and Carrie Anne-Moss from the matrix movies plays a new character central to the story, and both of them really steal the show whenever they're on the screen. All characters are wonderfully crafted and make the world really feel alive. It was easily the best part of the game by a long shot.
    The biggest issue with the game revolves around there just being too much of everything. There's too many different types of weapons to keep track of, each with their special types of ammo. There's also WAY too many things on the map when you start to open up things as the game progresses. It's really intimidating at times to see the sheer amount of icons on the map. The map size is huge too so there can be dozens upon dozens of things to see on the map and can make it very hard to find the one tiny icon you want to go too. I just didnt really care about most of the side activities, especially the ones that really don't give you any rewards besides a useless new outfit or something that you get a ton of even by the mid game.
    The story, as well, really didnt stick with me. Its a direct sequel to the first game which, if you haven't played through, as well as its DLC, then you're going to super lost, even with the recap cutscene at the start. Things also were very by-the-numbers too and it felt very video-gamey for lack of a better word. Plot twists were SUPER obvious and with Aloy's Mary Sue like tendencies, where she immediately has all the answers to any and all problems that crop up, really took me out of most cutscenes and major plot points. It really misses the whole discovery part from the first game as to why things are the way they are. Now that we know, they have to continue to escalate beyond "murder robot animals" in a primitive setting that was the most compelling part of the first game. And with the set up for a 3rd game at the end here, things are even more crazy than before.
    At the end of the day though, Forbidden West is an easy recommendation to anyone who's played through the first game and its DLC. While the story may not have been as engaging as the first one, the stellar acting and terrific motion capture go a long way to keep you engaged. While I may have liked the first one better, I still had a good enough time here to recommend it.    … Expand

    I'm long time xbox guy. I finally got a ps5 and it came with Horizon Forbidden West. I I'm loving this game while I love my series x there is something about the quality of Sony exclusive games. This one in particular is just amazing. Besides Forza Horizon this is my game of the year.

Inventory management, the traps/potions HUD, skill tree can feel little overwhelming but that's negligible.
    I preferred the option of using stealth and striking off few enemies in the location before going on full combat mode. It was rewarding and felt simpler. Much more variety of weapons, traps etc available compared to 1st game which helps us try different approaches. Lots of meaningful of side quests and other activities to spend plenty of hours.

    Coming to the PS5 features, I played in performance mode and the graphics was simply beautiful. Brilliant use of haptic feedback & adaptive triggers and some great sound effects especially machine sounds. Excellent background score all the way. Must play for all PlayStation gamers.

    Overall a really great game. Engaging mechanics, lots to do, a fantastic story with likable characters.

    My only beef is that the climbing mechanics suck, and for some odd reason every NPC is LGBT. No problem with them but it knocks your immersion a bit when every other NPC is a minority orientation.

    I just wrapped Horizon Forbidden West and like a lot of great games I feel a little sad that there is no new story to unfold having played it most nights over the past 2-3 weeks. Firstly it should be noted that I thoroughly enjoyed the first game, it's combination of combat, lore/story, and beautiful landscapes was fantastic and whilst it borrowed a lot of ideas, they all came together toI just wrapped Horizon Forbidden West and like a lot of great games I feel a little sad that there is no new story to unfold having played it most nights over the past 2-3 weeks. Firstly it should be noted that I thoroughly enjoyed the first game, it's combination of combat, lore/story, and beautiful landscapes was fantastic and whilst it borrowed a lot of ideas, they all came together to make something unique.

    This game keeps the same great combat from the first game, mixing up the enemy types with some fantastic new designs. I was a little frustrated at the seeming lack of use for the rope caster this time round as it doesn't seem to tie down anything but very small machines making it largely useless. That aside though the combat is still awesome. The larger changes to combat are in the melee portion of the game giving you new combos that are great to pull off, but outside of the melee pits there aren't a huge amount of combat scenarios where you need to use them.

    I was a little worried going into this game that they wouldn't be able to maintain the level of mystery that drove a lot of the first games narrative, and whilst that is true, it replaces it with more heart and some truly fun sci fi that keeps you guessing for a wile at least.

    The graphics and open world on display here are truly amazing. You will often stop just to look around and marvel at your surroundings and whilst the game can rely on a map marker system at times, I would suggest turning most of it off and just exploring whatever takes your eyes fancy. Not all of it will have something to discover, but you may find a hidden under water cave replete with valuables to upgrade your weapons, a new hunting ground, a side quest, or just a random event.

    I love the crafting system in this game, taking notes from monster hunter, you hunt down certain machines for certain parts. This becomes a test of skill as you have to shoot off said parts most of the time in order to collect them. I enjoyed this test of skill however some may find this a bit frustrating, however there is an option to just collect everything without having to shoot it off in options menu.

    All in all this is a fantastic game, there are a few frustrations with traversal, but the story, crafting, graphics, combat, and not least musical score come together to make a great game. It was close to a 10, but I think some reliance on now overly familiar game elements prevents it from being a true master piece. I am now eagerly awaiting Horizon 3 whenever that may be.

    Edit: Do yourself a favour and play on Hard, otherwise it will be. hours of firing arrows at easy machines. Hard and above make sure that you need to use the combat options at your disposal and make the game infinitely more interesting than it would be on normal.    … Expand

    The game is good, good combat, good graphics, good art, good world, if you want to know lore you can do it by talking to the NPCs by dialogues mostly if not you arent going to find out stuff from the NPCs or why exactly is happening stuff in the world

    What an amazing ride! I personally played on easy on the PS5 and enjoyed the spectacle and pacing of the narrative. Almost every frame is a work of art. It’s amazing that it’s all in real time. The mechanics feel refined over the original so I’m definitely going to play on a harder difficulty on my next play through.

    This is one of my favorite video game storylines ever. Forbidden West did a good job of teaching the players different weapon techniques. I felt like I was always learning new strategies as I played along in the game. This is one of the first games that I am dead set on achieving 100%.

    Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

    Horizon Forbidden West is Guerrilla's best game to date, taking Aloy to new heights with a blockbuster release that meets the high standards set by PlayStation in recent years. While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

    Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what everyone thought it would be: an amazing game. It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
