Nethertheless the story feels like a stretched side quest rather then an actual narrative in itself.
Still there are memorable moments with cool and believable characters and the finally is also worked out in an epic way.
The only real issue that I had were smaller pop ups while traversing the world on your brand new flying mount.

What I want to say is that I had fun playing a brand new story with Aloy and her companian and that I can only recomend this DLC to everyone who loved the base game, but dont expect major changes.

I loved playing Forbidden West and loved exploring this new map, knowing more about the Quen (my favorite tribe!) and welcoming Aloy to my community ;) I would give it a 9 but reading all these pissed off homophobe's comments made me realize how valuable is what Guerrilla Games did here, so there you go.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had a great time with this DLC. Some fun new battle tactics, and a pretty great final battle. Only complaints are that it was a bit short (Not short for $20, but I was hoping for another Frozen Wilds-sized DLC. I would have gladly paid more for it), and some of the islands were a bit empty. But the gameplay and story were solid. Looking forward to where it goes next.

The homophobes out there must be really dense, because Aloy was obviously queer. I rather thought she might be aroace, but there's no way she was going to be cishet.

Imagine loving a franchise and from night to day saying is wOkE gArBagE just because there's ONE OPTIONAL ending where Aloy kisses Seyka. It's ridiculous.

It's a great expansion, having a blast backing into the world of Horizon. Almost everything from the base game is improved, nice new story, even though being a little short. Totally worth DLC for the fans of the franchise

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mixed feelings overall, not disappointed with the content just saddened there was only 4 hours of it. Game was visually pleasing but also very dense, it was easy to overlook things in the foliage unless you were scanning with your focus every 10 seconds. Enjoyed the story I just wish there was more, even some more side quests or hunting challenges.

As for the aspect of 'woke culture' I was only bothered when Nova was introduced and was portrayed as mentally abused by Walter's constant tweaking, it's just an AI and instead of salvaging it's knowledge it could have helped against Nemesis and understanding what Walter knew we instead are only left with the choice to kill it and I don't know but that just felt unnecessary. I know we're not supposed to like Walter but there are more unflattering aspects of the male persuasion we could've tacked on him instead of his need to control the females in his life. It just feels like a Hollywood cliché and I wish it could've been more original.

As for Aloy and Seyka I'm happy for Aloy finding happiness and love in someone (I even chose the heart option because girl deserves it dammit) and it was a choice, one I wish could have been with Erend or the Sun King and really let the players decide how they would want the story to go overall.

The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is tedious, but the plot... fire this mediocrity who wrote the plot, you took her through connections, because she is a feminist's and problem is not about LGBT Aloy (I don't care about that). The whole plot itself is a very cheap social commentary.

    HOMOPHOBIA ??????
I am giving a 0 because I am the fool buying the game and LOTS of Horizon merch, because I know that the reason why they forced this silly "LGBT romance" into the DLC was completely for marketing purposes, I know that the game producers don't care if Aloy is gay or not, but WE the actual fans of the franchise, the ones who just want to run away from this upside down world and enjoy some time with a fun and immersive game like Horizon, we care. We care about the game and we want it to be well executed as It was done until burning shroes. Some people say that this is just Homophobia, but what you don't get it is that this LBGT romance was forced into us with no prior development, a good example is with Avad, he shows his feelings towards Aloy and she corresponds to them however avoiding it for the moment because of the danger she is facing right now. Throughout the whole plot you see Aloy acting in a certain way, and then out of nowhere she starts acting with a new personality that doesn't corresponds to whom Aloy's been so far in the game. it was not something natural and organic just like like it happened to Ellie in the last of us, because we were able to see her character development and the events that led Ellie to be as she is. Which was not the case in Horizon, the producers just wanted to force a LBGT agenda into the game. One thing that I have noticed in SONY videogames throughout the years is that strong female protagonists can't be feminine or have a boyfriends, It has happened to Ellie, Abby and now it is happening to Aloy, all of those characters match to one or both of those descriptions. This is a constructive critic why Burning shores is getting all of those bad reviews. Disagree with a plot that was poorly developed only to please a minority's agenda is not homophobia, this is disrespectful with the actual fans of the franchise because we care about the game, and we want the next Horizon to be as amazing as forbidden west was, and not one more ordinary story to please a small group. Those who say that this is homophobia are just trying to push as many as they can to their side, doesn't matter if list all the facts why this is bad or wrong in a certain way.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have no idea why this DLC is getting a lot of hate for; I haven't played it myself, but I have watched it and I loved it. What could happen with Aloy and Seyka wasn't FORCED at all, as people saying here. I was half expecting it to happen during the main game with how she acts. To be honest, thought she could be Bi.

In this game Aloy spent a lot of time with Seyka, where in the past two games and DLC, Aloy spent most of her time alone. But here, she spends it with Seyka and was able to feel things that she never been able to for either being an Outcast or not spending a lot of time with someone. Here, she spends a lot of time with Seyka and for the first time in her life feels things that she couldn't before. It was up to the player at the end of the game if she ends up with Seyka or not, like a lot of games,

Now of you would be review bombing this game if Aloy was straight. You would enjoy this part of the story, having the two characters kiss. The way you are all acting is sick. Don’t get me wrong, I understand where some of you are coming from. As with how many companies recently doing this sort of thing a lot more for the wrong reasons, it can turn people off. But here's the thing, Aloy being gay, that was hinted since the first game. And it was more or less confirmed she would be one when we find out that Elisabet had a female lover in Forbidden West. This alone would make people realise she would be gay too, that or bi. As Aloy was the clone of Elisabet.

For people to act like this is sickening.

Forbidden West was extremely woke to the point where I also rolled my eyes several times. Yes Guerilla Games, we get it, you want to teach people to be more empathic yet what you dont understand is that you create the opposite effect if you want to foce your views upon your consumers.

But I also try to see this matter more differentiated. The world in Horizon is a new world with new societies. Free of religions and prejudices. It makes totally sense that same gender relationships can happen considering that the people are also descendants of the old people from the modern world where gay relationsips were probably absolutely common.

There is no need to bash this game with zero's and hateful comments. I cant think otherwise than seeing little edgy boys behind all these hate comments who never had any serious relationship with other people. Boys, your thoughts will change when you grow up and if not, then you will live a sad life.

As to the game, its obviously more of the same. Graphics are insane and this is the most beautiful game you can play on PS5. Gameplay is fun but make sure you play it on very hard, thats the only way to play it. The game is not unfair and rewards patient hunters who also consider a tactical retreat from battle and rethink their plan.

They don't even need to select it). The DLC is more of an 8. This DLC features great story missions, new enemies, weapons, armor, and skills, and a large, interesting new location. The game still looks phenomenal, and it plays just as great as the base game. I would have liked a few more side quests, and traversing some of the vertical areas can be tedious, but if you like Horizon FW and want a good chunk of content to sink your roboteeth into its worth the low asking price. Let's be real, no one likes it when DLCs force a political agenda down our throats. It can seriously harm the quality of the game and leave players feeling disconnected. I mean, c'mon, when we pay for a DLC, we expect it to improve our gaming experience, not push someone's political viewpoint! W.O.K.E

The quality of the game is excellent, unfortunately it unnecessarily put the LGBT crowd in this dlc and in a forced way, however much the kiss option may be a choice, they wanted to seal it with something that was not needed. I'm a fan of the series, but having trivialized this subject loses a lot of the quality of the game as a whole.

But bad for many people in my country, because its banned here because of the kiss scene. Millions of people cannot buy and play this because of this decision. Maybe Guerilla is some kind of islamophobic i guess and we do not matter for them? We should also be allowed to play this inclusive masterpiece. I hope there will be a 3. part in the future. But i am afraid that too many people will not buy it because they are homophobic an it will be a flop. And i hope there will be more relationship options, maybe even with some robots. A very good extension to the base game. Adds new weapons and new way of fighting. As always with the studio, the graphics are simply amazing. I recommend it ! The new story is fascinating.

As for the idiots bombing the game because of something as trivial as this, I want to say a) what a sad life they have and b) you know what they say about protesting too much ? Repressed much ?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game started off great, the visual looked amazing, the story interesting. But there is not much new here, only one new machine. The story goes kinda dry and there are only 5 main missions and 3 side quest. The missions don't add much to the story and one mission was just boring. I was hoping the final battle would be awesome, a new machine to take on. But the final boss was quite boring, yes it was a machine, a new Horus. But all you did was stop it from over heating, it was just so dumb, not a memorable final boss at all. Kinda lame to be honest, I finish the 8 missions in the game in 8 hours. Not worth the $20 if you ask me.

But I did love Sekya, she was a great character, I would love to play a game as her!

The plot is real good written, but simple. New enemy character from Zenith, new "save the word" main quests line. The worst thing is length, I completed main quests and one or two from side in 8 hours. A lot of people said about kissing, but is only, an option like in Cyberpunk, AC: Valhalla and other game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am a huge fan of the Horizon franchise and love it with all my heart. I went through the first game with pleasure and I can already call it my favorite. The second part also pleased me, as there were new machines and mechanics that I liked. When I heard about the release of the DLC, I immediately pre-ordered it, because I was sure that it would meet my expectations, but something went wrong. I do not regret the money spent - the DLC is really very beautiful, the new location looks great, I liked the Waterwing and I am absolutely delighted with Horus (this is one of my favorite robots, which I was really looking forward to). It's hard for me to write this review, because I am sincerely grateful to those people who were responsible for the combat system, graphics, machines, characters and buildings designs. But the script came out incredibly weak with some strange and inappropriate elements. Mind you, I'm not anti-LGBT at all. I even thought that Aloy would look good with Talana or Alva. I really like these heroines and the dynamics of relationships with them. But Seyka is a completely uninteresting ludicrous character with an annoying personality that didn't evoke an ounce of sympathy in me. I didn't like traveling with her and I was glad when the game allowed me to be alone and mind my own business. Their relationship starts so spontaneously and develops so rapidly that you start to feel like you're in a teenage girl's fanfic. It's also important to me that I can be on the same wavelength as the character I'm playing. But Aloy turned out to be too keen on her new girlfriend. At the same time, she seemed to even become even more rude and distant, as if she didn’t care about anything. I was confused by her remarks during the battle with Horus, because, well, guys, this ancient war machine, the very terrible threat that destroyed all life. And Aloy acts like she's got some stupid shrimp in front of her that you can slam with a slipper. And seriously, she actually defeated Horus on her own while Seika kept it distracted. I mean, a human with a bow and a stick was able to disable an armored robot the size of a stadium. The tanks and planes of the past had such huge problems with this, but apparently they did something wrong. I remember how much I was impressed by the old records from Zero Down, where soldiers and civilians talked about the horrors of war against machines, so I expected real fear and experiences from Aloy, because it's normal to be afraid. But it doesn't seem to scare her anymore. And it looks unrealistic. Aloy does not seem to take what is happening seriously, treating it as a boring routine. I would like to see the development of this character, her growth as a person. And if the developers want to give Aloy a love interest, then why not let the players choose who she will be with? I like both the male and female characters of Horizon, I think each of them is better than Seyka, because the latter looks like a personal OC of the screenwriter, who apparently really wants to date Aloy. This looks insanely weird. Plus, I'm really tired of these nasty evil men who oppress strong independent women, especially when they are at the center of the plot. I can't even hate Walter, I don't take him seriously because he's such a ridiculous and comical villain and his motivations are completely absurd. Also, to be honest, I would like Aloy to find a real friend on the Zenith side, because so far they have all been just selfish freaks. I still love Horizon and I'm ready to buy the third part if it comes out, but I also hope that the developers will improve Aloy herself, the plot and the relationships between the characters. This franchise means a lot to me and it's hard for me to give such a low rating, so I'm sorry if that. Expand

The story is smallish and feels a tiny bit of an after thought, but it does expand the story, allows more character development for Aloy, and yes, you have the choice to kiss a same-sex character (ooo scary!!) but as always, the graphics are stunning, the gameplay does not break the mold it has already set (although the mold is what we all fell I love with), and Aloy is just as cool and endearing as always. I recommend this DLC (not a new game as people often forget when they get mad about how long it is, it is just a DLC expansion) and encourage others to give it a try at any point. Ignore the homophobes and their paper bag covered floors, they contribute nothing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. $20 for a DLC and so far I’ve gotten over 10 hours of gameplay, well worth it. Main Quest was so fun- I couldn’t put the game down! Beat the MQ in one day, and now going through and finishing up everything else.
Beautiful animation/cutscenes. The new combat mechanics are great. Compared to HFW, the map does feel a bit empty in terms of stuff to do, but I still find exploring to be fun. I understand with the story that a Hunting Griund wouldn’t make sense. I do wish there was a Tallneck though, I always look forward to them! Story-wise it feels like a good lead-in to Horizon 3, with Londra’s thoughts on what to use against Nemesis as a decent starting point for probably the new game’s main quests.

The ending of the main quest and Aloy’s further character development feels like the next logical step for her. We go from seeing her as a loner and outcast, mostly going it alone in HZD with minimal support from Sylens, plus others in the final battle. To then in HFW, she’s assembled a decent group of friends that are helping her, despite her initial refusal for help and insistence of doing it all herself. With Burning Shores, it feels like she’s getting closer to Beta and she and Sylens are starting to reach a point of mutual respect, if not really friendliness. And of course- Seyka. I was rooting for them since before the game was launched and was convinced that we were going to see something between the two. I was hoping for what we got in the end scene, but didn’t expect it in the DLC.
They work very well together and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter- both in-game and cutscenes. The ‘Heart’ option at the end feels the most in-line with the story and the established relationship of the two throughout the main quests (so I’m hoping that’s the canon option for H3). Can’t wait to see more of Seyka, and just generally more Horizon of course.

Overall, it was solid expansion on the established story and a wonderful arc to further develop Aloy’s character and see her finally starting to let people closer.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazing DLC, with even better combat scenarios and beautiful graphics. The plot is a big "OK", as it was with Frozen Wilds, just an extra history, which leads to my real (and only) problem with this DLC: the added romance is optional, like a side quest.

Why add something which is really impacting in a character that has in it's development a life of isolation and lack of interest in others peoples personal life? This game never was about the player choice, nothing like The Witcher series. It would be so much better if it was canonical, now it's really hard to know what to think of the character for the next game. More than that, will this choice even matter? Optional dialogues shouldn't even be used in games like this, not at this point at least...

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is visually the best game I have ever played, and in terms of gameplay, it is enjoyable for me, although it may not be for everyone. But the story is the biggest weakness of the game, and I don’t think the story will be great in Someone’s opinion and it may just be the difference between those who say it’s mid and those who say it’s bad. But in different ways, this game completely shows off the power of the 9th generation console.
