Only issue people seem to have about it is that a character in it is gay, if you can live with that, then you'll have an absolute blast. If you can't, then I feel sorry for you.     Unfortunate how negative people are to rate the dlc low due to the sexuality of a character. For a small dlc it gave a huge new map to explore, added story on what happened in other areas, new machines and mechanics and some awesome new characters.

    For a £15 dlc it brought so much including its amazing and beautiful graphics and an amazing new map that you can tell the designer's put a    Unfortunate how negative people are to rate the dlc low due to the sexuality of a character.     Loved the game and story, sad it was a bit shorter but its a DLC, cant wait for 3rd game. Ending you can choose what ever you want so if you are homophobic you can skip that part and choose something else

    Nice to see new DLC. Also nice to see the game acknowledging the fact that LGBT characters exist. The people complaining about 'political correctness' are just thin-skinned, especially when it's simply an 'option' rather than mandatory to the game. Anyway, good job, hope to see more.

    Good quality DLC, the story is pretty good and the action spectacular. The side missions are great and it's a shame there are so few of them. It looks utterly beautiful and it's far too short.

    Great expansion. It is impressive how Guerrilla Games and Playstation Studios manage to elevate the technical aspects even more, provoking even greater immersion in the game. Great that in this expansion we can delve into Eloy's psyche and get to know her even more as a human in her quest for knowledge driven by empathy and passion.

    Not releasing a DLC with all platforms the main game was initially released for is kind of stupid, I get it if they did not release a third installment in the franchise to PS4 Pro but a DLC.

    This is only because of $$$ and to get some PS5 sold, I will pirate the game when it's released on PC.

    Amazing DLC with cool world exploration, a wonderful story arc and new incredible characters! Seeing such a kind and meaningful game get undeserved hate is very disappointing.
    This is a great expansion, loved every part of it.

    I wouldn't normally have given this a 10, as, yes, this DLC was unexpectedly a little short and I was a teensy bit disappointed at that. But for me, it continues a fantastic story in a fantastic setting, with wonderful characters. The same great gameplay, the same great combat. I love this game in so many ways and being brought back to it for more brings me joy, regardless of how long I was brought back for. So, it would have been a 9…

    Buuuuut, let's address the ending and the romance scene that people are hating on and why I've upped to a 10…

    1) If you paid any attention to Aloy as a character, you'd know there was always the possibility of a romance scene at some point given her slowly opening herself up to others over time.
    She goes from alone to many friends.
    From having little trust, to much more trusting.
    She would never have let anyone close in the early days, but by Forbidden West, she's different, older, knows herself better and knows how to judge others better. That's why so many of her friends have focuses.
    If there was ever romance in store for Aloy, around now seems right given her character progression.

    2) As for her preferences, if you don't like it, you never understood her character or the game, or, you never paid enough attention to her character or the game as a whole. Whichever of those it is, you simply don't deserve an opinion. You never cared enough about the character or game before, why do you care so much now?
    The game has never gone out of its way to shove any agenda in the players face, any characters "different from the norm" are vastly outnumbered by "normal" characters. I'd say it mirrors our world quite accurately. Those characters and their circumstances that are "different" are never shoved in your face, they just are who they are, they are accepted in the Horizon world because it's a better and more accepting world than this current awful world we all seem to be stuck with. Why can't you accept like they can? Why can't you be as nice as they are?

    And this leads nicely to…

    3) Why would one scene make you so angry? Would you care this much about a happy lesbian couple holding hands at a bus stop? Would you walk up to them and shout angrily about shoving agendas in faces? I hope not. But why would this circumstance, a happy lesbian couple at a bus stop, be any different than a heterosexual male, holding his heterosexual female partner's hand while walking down the street.
    Here's the thing. It isn't different.
    Love is love. No matter the form it takes. I'll repeat it. Love is love. And you can't change it, you can't control it, so just let love be love in all its many forms. It doesn't affect you. So why do you let it affect you?

    To summarise, too many people focus on things they cannot change, this story has so many great characters who all love and help each other no matter what their differences are. Because in the end, they all stick together and help one another, or they face something worse, hatred or death.
    I find joy in this story because I hope we can all be similar in our present time, that we can be even a small part more like them. More understanding, more loving and more caring.

    Find joy in the story, put your unnecessary anger aside and let yourself experience and learn from it.

The final boss fight alone made the DLC for me. Soundtrack was incredible. As well as the continued character development of Aloy's character. People who claim this was "out of nowhere" paid zero attention to her development and growth in the main game. And the graphics and micro-expressions are the best I've ever seen in a game.… Expand

I love that there was a loose end to tie up after the game and that we got to see more of the new comers, the Quen. I rather enjoyed Seyka. She was a great addition that really challenges and fits with Aloy. I’ve seen a lot of people upset over the ending, which is sad. It’s optional on how you play it, but it alludes to Aloy and Seyka becoming an item. Guerilla has had major attacks over this, which is unfortunate. Human connection is human connection and considering her “mother” had a same sex relationship, it’s surprising so many people are upset. Regardless, I found the story to be an exciting and great one. I can’t wait for the next game! The combat and gameplay are flawless and provide a great challenge, yet it isn’t so hard that you can’t enjoy it. The new machines are pretty awesome and I found the creativity behind them great. I loved the addition of the Waterwing! Being able to have a mount in the air and in the water was wicked! The graphics, the gameplay, and the storylines are absolutely fabulous and I will always buy, play and support the Horizon series and Guerilla Games!… Expand

Now the LGBTQ agenda is pushed so hard it’s ridiculous. And no, I’m not just talking about the optional kiss in this DLC. No matter your choice, Aloy being lesbian is still strongly hinted in other cut scenes so the writers are telling us what is canon. Go sit with Varl after you choose “This is too much for me” for example. It’s clear that there is no real choice. Was it so hard to predict that this spoon-feeding would not sit well with a lot of people?

    This started in The Forbidden West already, easily half of the inhabitants are gay or portrayed so. You could be forgiven for thinking more or less all men are homosexual in the game. It’s overrepresentation if anything. Men are generally weak and women are warriors telling men what to do. I think most people don’t mind representation or strong women, but Guerrilla is doing a deliberate inversion where such minorities are majorities, this is woke defined. Remember, The forbidden west was supposed to be an extremely dangerous place, the tribes absolutely menacing. Who believes that the LGBTQ crowd is the most aggressive and violent kind out there? It’s just forced storytelling. Stop the pandering and focus on the world class story you kicked off in the first game. I have played both games and the DLCs from day one of release. Sad to say I don’t feel like doing so when the third game comes.    … Expand

    A great return of Aloy. Going back to the world of Horizon Forbidden West is wonderful. Surprisingly, the story told by Burning Shores is quite important and a prequel for a potential Horizon 3. Graphics are stunning. One of the most impressive games nowadays. And the Story of the DLC is breathtaking.

    I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery, the main and side quests and the additions to the skill trees this DLC brought with it. There were new, well designed machines to fight, to override and to fly, and great new characters to interact with, as well as collectibles and little pieces of lore to find everywhere on the new map. I'm not obligated to see or follow agenda by force in game which I have decided to play, Are u trying to follow up the path of Naughtydog or what!? after I had tried this extension. I will stop play the sequel for sure and even any game from this studia.

    This is a great game and an amazing addition to the base game. The graphics are incredible, the story was a fun addition to the lore, and the new mount is a ton of fun.

La banda sonora de 10 como siempre, pedazo de doblaje tenemos en castellano. Han mejorado la distancia de dibujado en esta área por lo que se ve más y más lejos. Una bestia parda. Personalmente me ha durado 8 horas por 20 euros . Creo que noUno de los mejores DLC que he jugado en muchísimo tiempo y menudo final épico! .     Great DLC!! Horizon deliver the best complements "after game" since Frozen Wilds. New characters, machines, new scenarios and more of it's incredible science fiction lore. I'm thrilled for the upcoming 3rd part of the saga

    I seriously dislike how they abandoned the role play elements of this game and made a forced relationship that very few people wanted. Honestly, it should have been more like the recent assassin Creed games where you can choose your own romance options.

The last hour of my playthrough (Not limited to main quests) had me either on the edge of my seat or uncontrollably smiling. And for its incredibly cheap price point, you'd be insane to not try it out.

    The Burning Shores is the greatest DLC I have ever played. Whilst it is not perfect, the culminating story plot, the performances of the cast and the visual prowess of the game far outweigh the few nit-picks I have from playing the game. Easily earning this DLC a score of 10.

    To start with the positives:
    Improved Underwater exploration
    Improved flying exploration
    Fantastic Audio as expected
    Some of the best visual graphics, scenery and cutscenes I have seen in gaming ever, making the world thoroughly enjoyable to explore
    Some of the most relatable and compelling performances from the actors, especially Ashly Burch, Kylie Liya Page and Donovan Patton. - Whose performances are truly unforgettable.
    Fantastic Final Boss Fight - far exceeded all expectations I had
    A very cheap price point for what you are receiving

    And the few Nit-Picks I have:
    One of the main story quests is slightly childish in terms of common logic and human interaction - however this section is limited to maybe 5/10 mins of gameplay maximum
    The number of side quests are limited, I would of preferred a slightly more expensive DLC with a few extra quests.
    Would of liked to also see the inclusion of another small/medium machine.    … Expand

A história principal foi totalmente ignorada e se voltou para uma serie de clichês, cansativos e que não agregam, tendo um dialogo expositivo e uma relação totalmente forçada com a NPC Mary Sue criada para alimentar o clichê. A história não conseguiu me prender nem por um minuto e as evoluções técnicas não justificam o preço da DLC, queAchei muito fraco, a DLC não vale o valor da mesma. A história principal foi totalmente ignorada e se voltou para uma serie de clichês, cansativos e que não agregam, tendo um dialogo expositivo e uma relação totalmente forçada com a NPC Mary Sue criada para alimentar o clichê. A história não conseguiu me prender nem por um minuto e as evoluções técnicas não justificam o preço da DLC, que poderia muito bem rodar no ps4 com o porte correto. Como fã da saga fiquei decepcionado com o rumo narrativo que Horizon tomou, mas uma história onde a mulher para ser forte tem que ser lésbica e lutar contra o hétero toxico e malvado.… Expand

    I think the expansion, while short, is great in that it applies some really well-done new game mechanics and the graphics look beautiful on the PS5. I very much recommend the expansion to anyone who loves open-world adventures with compelling combat. The review bombing is sad and pitiful and comes from a bunch of folks clearly afraid of any lifestyle choices that differ from their own.

    I really liked the DLC. The story is good and the gameplay is fun. The new machines are good. The size of the map is ok, but it could have more things to discover. Some data and audio logs are too hard find. And I thought he ending fight was fenomenal! And the character development was good too. Aloy is accepting help, finding friendship and even love.     Great DLC! Beautiful visuals, intense sounds and good story telling. The love story came off a bit awkward BUT who cares! I had a blast playing, Thanks Guerrilla for the entertainment. People need to chill on the reviews, dont purchase the game if your so bothered and move on!

    I enjoyed every minutes of playing. We should be gladly for developers which bringing these amazing stories. The atmosphere from the very last mission is still written in from off my eyes pretty deeply. My so happy that Aloy's story and also her personality are again moved to the next level even in the DLC.     but the main story is amazing and the new types of enemies are ingenious and beautiful
    and this is an opportunity to Seyka - This is an amazing discovery of which I personally was looking forward to and very happy

I saw the absolute review bombing and hate for this DLC and realized I had to say something. All those that are hating on the romance aspect are simply just haters and likely don't understand how games work. Did I find the romance aspect cheesy a little yes; but the player is given three options. Only one results in the advancement of the relationship. I choose to not be ready which I believe leaves Aloy open to other opportunities and the other is to shoot it down completely. My assumption is none of the people totally trashing the DLC have ever played a game like MASS EFFECT that allows multiple options. I also take umbrage with those flat out saying Aloy is a lesbian. She may be bisexual. Which is my hope. Regardless anyone claiming this is a part of some woke agenda is ignorant of the mechanics of RPG style games. I first saw this topic via an article on Forbes which made me sign up for this account simply because of how outrageous this was to me. Rest assured I will be retroactively reviewing many things now that I have one. I gave this a 9 just to help balance; but in all honesty I'd have probably given it a 7 or 8.… Expand

I feel like the series thus far has been trying to illustrate how Aloy is her own person apart from Elizabet, but making her also lesbian takes away from that notion. I also find it frustrating that they decided to introduce the romance subplot for Aloy in a DLC with a brand new character, of all things. If they wanted to broach romance for Aloy, it would have made more sense to do so in the next game, where the player has multiple character options or can choose to avoid romance altogether.… Expand

    this DLC is just very poorly done.. the story is outrageously bad and it doesn't add anything interesting to the series whatsoever.
    since Guerilla insists on going the political correctness route, I for one am not interested in the future of this franchise. I'll never buy anything they develop again..

    Thankfully, us action/adventure fans still have the Legend of Zelda.

    Phenomenal game! This is how you do DLC! Sublime world and so many new and interesting mechanics (not to mention all the new lore to dive into) Great stuff! Can't wait for the third game proper!

    Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is visually the best game I have ever played, and in terms of gameplay, it is enjoyable for me, although it may not be for everyone. But the story is the biggest weakness of the game, and I don’t think the story will be great in Someone’s opinion and it may just be the difference between those who say it’s mid and those who say it’s bad. But in different ways, this game completely shows off the power of the 9th generation console.

    Burning Shores is definitely worth a visit. The story builds nicely, the side quests have nice depth, and Aloy and Seyka may end up forming something more than just a friendship. The question is whether a little more content could have been added. After all, it's all stuff we've seen before. [Issue#327]
