This is a fantastic expansion to a fantastic game. Most likely the most impressive technological feat in gaming history and done on old hardware. Yep, the PS5 is old hardware. Snappy controls, graphics, animations, and scale. Wow Guerilla, you guys are freaking amazing.

Pretty looking game, but extremely shallow and boring. Protagonist remains one of, if not the most unlikable characters ever conceived. Only play this if it is in the bargain bin for $5.

Historia não acrescenta muita coisa mas tem novas mecanicas legais. Mas nada que faça valer preço cheio. Comprem em uma promoção.

Writing is generally so bad and dull as if you were watching a Batgirl episode. And the characters are equally irritating as well.

Do yourself a favor and spare some time and money for yourself and stay away from this dumpster fire as far as possible.

The DLC is a waste of time and money it adds nothing to the plot . You'd be better of pretending it doesn't exist. Stick only to the first game and forget about everything else in this franchise because it's not worth it.
And you know exactly why this isn't worth it.

Beautiful and immersive. The setting of the Burning Shores has high production values. I really like the saturated colors of the Horizon series as well as Music and Sound. The action is jaw dropping. The use of the Dualsense is excellent. German localization is solid as well. Burning Shores is even more icing on the Forbidden West cake.

It was pretty good DLC, but I had higher hopes. I was hoping for more new machines than the two or three they added, there were parts of the map that were pretty barren, and I wasn't too impressed with the small enhancements to the skill trees. However, it was more great gameplay from the base game, one good new enemy, and a great boss fight.

What disappointed me was not enough side quests. They could have added at least 5 more and it would be absolutely brilliant. For £17.00 it was still fine as the ticket for Imax costs pretty much the same.... This was a DLC not a full game, people need to understand it but I partially blame Guerilla for overhyping it. They could have stated hey here is 3 hours long main story line and 3 side quests, few collectibles and view points and one new cauldron ... its $20 go have fun. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Clearly, there's something in common among most of these negative reviews, and it's kind of weird honestly. Historically, Aloy has shown little to no romantic interest in the people who have had interest in her, both men and women, because any form of romantic attraction is not to attraction to everyone of a given gender. Anyway... Gameplay was good. I only have two complaints, and neither resulted in a negative gaming experience: The first is that there weren't a whole lot of new machines. 2.5 essentially, between the Stingspawn (.5), the Bilegut, and the Waterwing. It's not much worse than Frozen Wilds in that regard, though. The other was that it felt a little short. I believe this is because unlike Frozen Wilds, this game spent little time focusing on the larger story (Nemesis). Frozen Wilds spent a large portion of its story focused on the larger Gaia story by way of the Hephaestus Daemon and CYAN. We still just vaguely know of Nemesis by name and that it scares the Zeniths.

Previously we met the Quen in San Francisco and they were an interesting dig at the world of business. Burning Shores expands on them by showing that they're not a monolith, that there are differences in views and ideologies, and that one can do what's right even if it runs contrary to society. There are characters who fall under the sway of a cult as well.

The final battle felt epic - it goes from one stage to another well, and aside from how long it took to swim from one place to another at one point, the pace was good. In the end, taking down the Zenith felt good.

Some of these reviewers should take their own advice and focus on the story (>95% of which focuses on the Zenith plotline, helping people, taking down machines, and a little bit about Nemesis, and a mere

There is a cool new weapon and a nice little story. The DLC looks amazing and is pushing the graphics to next-gen level.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Did you like Forbidden West? Good, here's more of it! Though maybe not A LOT more; other than the new main quest (which I did find satisfying in both length and content) there's like... 3 side quests? Maybe 3.5 if you also count the new collectibles. Don't remember how many side quests Frozen Wilds had but I feel like it was more than 3. But regardless, even if it's (maybe) smaller than Frozen Wilds, it IS big enough to be worth spending $20 on, so go ahead and open up that metaphorical wallet.

The romance option you probably know about by now WILL make you wonder, "Why not Ikrie?" And there is something in common between Aloy and Seyka that isn't there between Aloy and Ikrie (or Aloy and Talanah if that's your thing), and that's the whole "risking your life for your people's survival even though they maybe don't deserve it" thing. Also, Seyka just... sticks around for a while. Maybe if Ikrie had stayed on to fight Hephaestus instead of quickly bugging off to invent her own hunting games, she could be the one getting Aloy kisses.

It's definitely $20 worth of great content! 9 of 10 just because it feels like it was over fast. Interesting new traversal mechanics, a new unique weapon, and -completely consistent progression of Aloy's story and character development-. Disregard all the trash monsters 0'ing because they're regressive phobics, please.

The sequel to Zero Dawn holds up to the thrilling story and adventures of the first one, with adding some much needed UiI improvements as well as a stunning graphical upgrade. On top of that you have a gripping story and a cast full of three dimensional characters. Particularly interesting is Aloy's relationship with the Burning Shores DLC companion, Seyka. It's sweet, it believable, and it's a cute little bow on top of an already incredible game. If you liked Zero Dawn, Forbidden West won't disappoint you. Expand

I remember when games especially RPG games used to give you choices in deciding the outcome of the story and your character, especially about important aspects like which side you want to choose (good or bad), killing certain characters or letting them live, romantic relationships and so on, these days we gotta just accept anything they stuff in our mouths because let me guess we gotta pander to the certain audience. Can't endorse these so called video games with agendas and propadanda anymore. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros: + More Horizon FW. + Improved foliage and cloud graphics. + New machine type. + New weapons and Quen armor. + Elite Weaves and Coils open up more options for legendary armors/weapons. Cons: - Short. 10 hours to 100% completion on New Game+ (Hard difficulty). - The antagonist was groan-worthy at best. - New valor surges and a lot of the added skills are pretty meh. - The hyped up added Zenith weapon is really weak compared to upgraded legendary weapons. - Too many collections padding out the playtime, not enough world building side quests. - Very little about Los Angeles really stood out. - No Tallneck for the region. - The Waterwing was pointless. Its functionality was needed for ONE quest, after that it was just a gimmick. - The skiff and the geysers were neat additions but pointless since we could fly over everything. - The DLC added a lot of graphical issues: Texture and shadow pop-in, texture glitches, lighting oddities. - Most of the music was recycled from the base game. - Erend, Zo, Alva, and Kotello were removed from their post-game locations and replaced with text "notes". - The relationship angle was hurried and felt forced. I don't care about the lesbian angle at all, but after two games of brushing off romantic interests, Aloy develops romantic feelings for someone she just meets and spends a couple days with? Simply because she reminds her of herself? It's bad writing, that's my problem with it. Overall, felt it was step below the base game and a major step below The Frozen Wilds DLC for original Horizon Zero Dawn. Unlikely I'll ever play this again as I've already exhausted everything there is to see and do. Collapse Expand

I don't come here to make an extremely negative review of the Burning Shores expansion, I really liked the dlc, but I need to express my opinion about something.

I don't come here to make an extremely negative review of the Burning Shores expansion, I really liked the dlc, but I need to express my opinion about something.

I thought it was really cool that Aloy awakened the need for a company, a love, in the game's story. I always hoped to see that in the character one day, Aloy deserves it. But the way the relationship came about in this dlc wasn't well received by everyone and it broke the public's imagination, that is, it ended the expectations that many players expected to see in the character, even though the game offered the two options of 'no' for Seyka.

A game has a story that captivates us, characters we admire and, in consequence, we imagine and hope to see a destiny for them. Then suddenly someone drastically changes the character build in the story and break our expectation.
If the game developers already want, in the story, to awaken Aloy's affective side and building a relationship for her, why MUST the relationship be homoaffective? Why didn't Guerrilla gradually build this up in a way that also had the option of an future Aloy relationship with a male character (Erend, Avad or another character) throughout the entire story since the base game?
Because the way it was done in this dlc, it was too fast and forced, it sounds like exalting and privileging only one side, only one group, pleasing only a few people.

I don't mean to sound prejudiced, I value respect and equality for all, but it would be good the Guerrilla from now on to develop in the game's story, about the affective aspect of Aloy, a well-constructed system of choices in the next game Horizon 3, make the game a real RPG, where players can choose the course the characters will follow and the final destination of each one in the story. In this way, I think everyone will be satisfied.

I give a score of 7 for Burning Shores due to of this fast and forced change that they did in Aloy, without a proper and gradual build since Horizon Forbidden West, or even Horizon Zero Dawn.Otherwise, I would give it a 10.
Despite the absence of some elements, such as a quest with a Tallneck to reveal the map and more side quests (the Frozen Wilds expansion was much better in this regard), it is an excellent expansion, with an improved and more beautiful graphic compared to the base game, beautiful facial expressions of the two main characters, combat with new machines (it would be even better if there were more new machines) and an interesting plot that reveals a possible solution to combat the great threat that is coming.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This DLC is everything that we can ask about an expansion. More items, armor, weapons, quest lines and enemies.

The new gameplay mechanics is a good new addition on the game, makes Burning Shores fresh and with the new enemies added on the game the gameplay it's fun and challenging.

The map is maybe 1/3 of the original game, but have less density and things to see in some points, this is not a problem thought: the places where have content, have a lot.

The new quests mechanics is another fun new thing added on the game, but I think that the quest award is a bit disappointing. Is good to have fun but don't change nothing about the power that Aloy has (talking about secondary quests).

Aloy is more silent on this DLC, and that is a good thing. Was the first time in this franchise that I took more than 5 minutes to understand how to solve a problem, thumbs up for that.

What is really it's a good hit on this expansion is the history. On the base game Aloy is finally diverting from being an Elisabeth 2.0 to having individual personality, now she is showing us what this personality is and it's good to see that she don't face everything without carrying some weight with.

Finally, I have some critic about the history: The history don't know how to show a good villain, the new enemy is painted has a person that kick dogs in the morning and parks in 2 two spaces on lunch. To me this was something that Guerrilla know that don't work based on the first game. To me we is evil just because and nothing more than that, the big enemy on this game for sure drags the history down (thank god that he don't appear a lot). Maybe is the time to create more interesting villains, everything that we have at this point have or just only one dimension or don't have the real plan revealed (hi Sylens).

Great DLC, a bit short but it was amazing.
It's just sad to see so many homophobes rating 0, it's TLOU Part 2 all over again.
You CAN choose not to romance Seyka just like you can turn down Avad in the main game but I guess people just love to hate on love.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is visually the best game I have ever played, and in terms of gameplay, it is enjoyable for me, although it may not be for everyone. But the story is the biggest weakness of the game, and I don’t think the story will be great in Someone’s opinion and it may just be the difference between those who say it’s mid and those who say it’s bad. But in different ways, this game completely shows off the power of the 9th generation console.

Burning Shores is definitely worth a visit. The story builds nicely, the side quests have nice depth, and Aloy and Seyka may end up forming something more than just a friendship. The question is whether a little more content could have been added. After all, it's all stuff we've seen before. [Issue#327]

Seyka is a welcome addition to Aloy’s allies. However the DLC shows no intention of escaping the science fantasy nonsense the base game mired itself in. [Issue#28, p.88]
