    The game as a game is great. While there are some performance hiccups to iron out, its till a good achievement. I am not even a Potterverse fan, and I am enjoying the title. I can definitely say that after 20 hours in, the game gets better after about 7 hrs and really opens up into a maticulously crafted open world game. I think what sells this game the most is its design. It has a ton of open world tropes we have all seen before, but lacks the blatant over use of copy and pasted assets. Each location and room feel meticulously crafted and makes the whole experience far more enjoyable. The art design is incredible, and one thing you will notice right away is that unlike other open world games, here you can actually enter most buildings and locations you see.

    The loot system could be better, and the voice acting, and conversations animations and character models are hit and miss, mostly miss aside from the main characters/instructors.

    Now to address the very selective controversy surrounding this game...

    It's absolutely appopriate and right to give a statement regarding Rowling and the controversy surrounding this game when discussing it.

    However, the issue that is being raised here is just people wanting to bandwagon. If this nonsense regarding WORDS by a bigot hadnt gained hive mind internet momentum no one would be talking about it. Just as those that claim they won't bankroll oppressions continue to do so with literally hundreds if not thousands of purchases they make throughout their lifetime under our current system.

    So dont tell me this is your stand, when the minerals and labor in your phone, game console and TV promote slavery war and genocide, when you applaud the newest Fromsoft title in which they dont pay their employees for the forced overtime it took to produce. When you wash your hair or take medication that was first tested on the primates sitting in cages right now as you argue about this one womans words. When you eat your dinner made via mistreatment and the opposite of peace for the lifeforms that sit on that plate. Don't forget the predatory practices of the employer you work for or the advertising you allow on your site in the name of profit to continue feeding the system and pay their life tax on you.

    If you are going to pretend like you care about peace for something you had better mean it beyond a 6 month internet hype cycle surrounding this one sad woman's words.

    What she said is garbage and ignorant, yes. but seriously? This where you draw the line? a friggin' Potterverse game?! That's it?

    I'm not buying it. Don't' tell me somehow this person's interpretation of a community in the form of WORDS is somehow more important than the myriad of actual physical, mental, and emotional destruction that your day-to-day consumption finances. To suggest that buying this game is financing some sort of anti-Trans campaign, is also to suggest that feeding yourself, and your very existence finances warlords, enslavement, global environmental destruction, imperialism, racism, as well as the very thing you criticize this woman for. who merely wrote a few books and thus has a few million social media followers.

    Trust me, much more influential and powerful people that actually affect global human trajectory are directly financed by you whether you want to face that or not.

    Do something meaningful if you care, because more words and your lack of 'contextual understanding based' one-time 70-dollar boycott of this video game ain't it......    … Expand

    Amazing game. I’ve played over 20 hours and I still haven’t explored the whole world yet. The castle is incredibly detailed and the there’s tons of fun Easter eggs to find for HP fans. The spell system is really fun once you unlock more spells and really start mixing up the combos. Honestly I’ve been waiting for this kind of game for a decade or more now and it has delivered on every levelAmazing game. I’ve played over 20 hours and I still haven’t explored the whole world yet.     I used to wish for a fully-realized open-world Wizarding World to get made one day, and Avalanche Software went above and beyond to get that childhood wish of mine fulfilled. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played.

    Amazing game. This is coming from someone that never really got on the HP bandwagon. The world, quests, lore and battle system are all great. I do find it pretty easy once you get a wide variety of spells so you may want to bump it to hard later in the game.

    The one missed opportunity is the lack of enemy variety. I felt like I was fighting the same 5 things the entire first half the    Amazing game.     Pretty disappointed considering how many positive reviews there are. Maybe my expectations for open world games is huge, but this is a 9 out of 10? Open world is hollow as hell and that alone is why I don't like this game. There is no purpose to the day night cycle other than visuals. Didn't Harry and the gang constantly have to sneak around the castle at night to avoid prefects andPretty disappointed considering how many positive reviews there are. Why can I do side stories for other students outside of the castle in the middle of the night? Pretty disappointed with no Quiditch either or any side activities really. Sorry if my expectations were high that the 90 GB triple A Harry Potter game has no Quiditch at all. The Pitch is right there and you can even fly on brooms. No other fun side activities at all. Why can't I play more of that shuffle board game that you do at the beginning when learning that spell? Why can't I do the dueling club fights anymore after I become champion? It's only three fights and then that's it, no more. Zero side stories/side quest lines at all. All of the side missions are just quick fetch quests. Rewards for the quests are pretty stupid too. Can't interact with people at all other than people that give you side stories. People don't react to you at all even when you do crazy things. No point to the common room or even which house you go to. None of the dialogue options are dynamic either. Pretty stupid that my characters light brown hair color looks terrible in specific light conditions.

    Pretty mid game when comparing it to other open world games like RDR, Skyrim, Yakuza, Witcher, Gta, Fallout and Horizon. Ya know, games that are actually 9/10    … Expand

    If I could rate it 9.8 I would so I rounded it up. The game's art direction and world building are some of the best we have ever seen. Everything feels like it comes from a world of magic from architecture to enemies to the countryside. The game mechanics are very good as well, including the crafting systems, level designs, and most importantly, the combat, which manages to flow quite well despite being entirely range based. The diversity of spells that can combo off one another allow you to take a unique approach to fights, plus the combat potions can help change your strategy to a significant degree. Perhaps the thing the game does best is how it invites you to explore the world and castle. There are dozens of puzzles tucked away in Hogwarts, secret passages, statues with secret functions, treasures to be found, and moving paintings all over the place. The side quests around the castle aren't fetch quests by any means, they usually task you with searching for something and, well, fetching it, but the process of finding the object is almost always a pleasure because directions are vague. For example, you might be told to search in "high places". Hogwarts Legacy also has a really unique way of contrasting your time in the castle, which is fun, exciting and wondrous with the open world exploration which is more mature, harrowing, and dangerous. There are poachers and monsters all over, hamlet's are being broken apart by grief as the goblin rebellion hurts literally everyone, even goblins. I'm not done with the game yet, but the motivation for most goblins to join the rebellion seems to be that witches wizards aren't nice to them sometimes, which is a bit weak. It's not as if they are enslaved like house elves. Finally, the game at present has a few bugs that will pop up now and then, things like a prop floating in the air after you just blasted it away, or a character model stuttering as it tries to open a door. The worst bug I have encountered occured when I was swimming in a cave and tried to exit the water onto the land. My character decided it was still in the water and floated right on up to the ceiling and got stuck. I just had to fast travel away and reset, not a big deal. I'm conclusion, if you want a really unique gaming experience this is a terrific option, as there is literally nothing like this in terms of combat, world design and writing. Some of the story elements are a bit less well thought out than others and are a bit silly, and there are some small bugs but nothing game breaking. And if you are a Harry Potter fan, just a word of advice, choose Hufflepuff. Trust me, you won't regret it.… Expand

Please note that I played this game on the PlayStation 5 so I am not aware of any other bugs are glitches that might be on PC or Xbox version I will say the story does start out slow, but those Harry Potter fans who have been waiting for an RPG type of game where you can be your own student at Hogwarts, does not disappoint the gameplay mechanics that are used how they integrated spells in the combat, and how fighting worked kind of similar to the Witcher 3 and this game takes advantage of the new dual sense controller with resistant triggers and vibration feedback. this world, feels alive and vibrant, taking aspects from both the books and films and incorporating it into the portrayal of the Wizarding world. The developer went out of their way to make sure that this world felt alive, and was true to both the movies and books, and to Harry Potter fans who have been waiting for a Harry Potter RPG there are some aspects that could be improved like flying. For example, the controls are hard to control, the lack of consequences specifically to whether or not, you use the unforgivable curses or go down the dark path. There are interesting characters along the way that you meet some old some new some who are even ancestors to the original characters. Overall, this game is a great first step of an RPG based in the Wizarding world I’m expecting there will probably be DLC to add to this game. That’ll probably improve it along the way not to mention that this game has sold even before release I would say in my opinion it’s definitely a game of the year contender and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to make a sequel to this, so I would give this a 9 out of 10 very very great game not perfect but no game is ever perfect… Expand

    If Avalanche Softwares gave me the power to make a dream Harry Potter game as a kid, I couldn't do better. Marvelous. Sublime. Addicting. I can't do anything but play Hogwarts Legacy.

    This is a seriously impressive game which is very true to the source material. Technically it is refreshing to get a game that is very polished on release without a plethora of microtransactions mixed it.

    It isn't the hardest game out there, but a very nice change of pace from the usual hectic tempo in modern games. There's a lot more in the world than just enemies, and that really makes if feel like a vibrant world instead of a dead game world.    … Expand

    The immersion into the Harry Potter world is phenomenal, the introduction had be feeling like I was in control of a movie, but with great gameplay. I’ve spent hours just walking around hogwarts, both inside and out.

    10/10, it’s for both kids and adults alike.

I can't imagine how many hours devs spent creating such a wonderful world. There are some bugs I met, but I didn't feel it harm my game experience.     Easily among the top games I’ve ever played. So easy to get lost in the exploration. World is super dense. Combat is fun and challenging. Overall excellent game and a dream come true.

    It is a finished product. I have roughly 40 hours into the game and have been doing every side quest and extra content to make sure I don’t leave any stone unturned. It is a master piece. I have friends who are no longer gamers, coming back and waking up early to play the game as if they were back in middle or high school. I have yet to crash or see any bugs. In a world of Triple A gamesIt is a finished product. I have roughly 40 hours into the game and have been doing every side quest and extra content to make sure I don’t leave any stone unturned. It is a master piece. I have friends who are no longer gamers, coming back and waking up early to play the game as if they were back in middle or high school. I have yet to crash or see any bugs. In a world of Triple A games pushing out unfinished games at full premium, this is a breadth of fresh air.… Expand

    Not being a hairy Potter fan (I was 21 years old when I first heard of hogwarts, it just wasn't my generation), I was worried that this game would constantly remind me of the juvenile nature of the books. I tried like hell to enjoy Kingdom Hearts, but accepting Goofy and Donald duck as "warriors" made my skin crawl.
    BUT, while there is clearly a lot of lore/fanservice in this game, for    Not being a hairy Potter fan (I was 21 years old when I first heard of hogwarts, it just wasn't my generation), I was worried that this game would constantly remind me of the juvenile nature of the books. I tried like hell to enjoy Kingdom Hearts, but accepting Goofy and Donald duck as "warriors" made my skin crawl.
    BUT, while there is clearly a lot of lore/fanservice in this game, for someone not interested in investing time in the stories, it was easy to focus on the SOLID combat and FUN FACTOR. I named by character Garalt Of Rivia, and gave him white hair, and raised the "cool factor" by atleast 40%.
    I would recommend this game to anyone who loves the best open world games of the last 5 years.    … Expand

Snout mouse maps, great details in hogwarts and out in the environment around.     Very fun game with what I feel are beautiful visuals. Combat is nothing groundbreaking but is still enjoyable. Character visuals are good not great. The cursor in the menus is a bit slow for me. The broom controls seem very touchy although I have not messed with the settings fully so that may be fixable. I was going to give it a bounds point as a HP fan but decided not to.

    Haven't enjoyed playing a game this much since being a kid. Truly magical and immersive world, gorgeous art and graphics. Absolutely one of a kind. Hope we get more Wizarding World games in future.

    I feel exactly the same excitement and enjoyment playing Hogwarts Legacy as playing first Harry Potter games while being a kid. (I'm currently 29 years old)

    At beginning the game’s enchantment starts. Sound scape is great,3d audio very well done. Even changes as you move you’re head phone adorned head. The graphics are very nice. Some pop in I noticed on the ps5 but it never hurt the game. The graphic details help that, they stand out giving it a lived in feel. The game play is great. Even changes as you move you’re head phone adorned head. The graphics are very nice. Some pop in I noticed on the ps5 but it never hurt the game. The graphic details help that, they stand out giving it a lived in feel. The game play is great. You meander or fast travel around hogwarts and neighboring areas including hogsmeade village. Many door’s already open others await after you learn more spells and the rewards are many for exploring. Puzzles are everywhere too. Lots of true to the books lore. Spell casting is satisfying, even a duel club to join. My problems is really in item management. You have a limited slots like resident evil , yes that small. But there’s ways to sell or destroy old underpowered items. At the point in game I’m at I can walk in and out and around almost anywhere I see. I’ve found ways up mountains and into a lake swimming and diving . The diving is only spots of bubbling water. Which I feel is a ok thing, the meat of the game is hogwarts. If your a fan or casual gamer you should find this fun and interesting. Dare I say enchantingly great. As for the review bombing other who hate jk Rowling . Thoes reviews are pretty easy to spot. Ignore them. They say many thing not about the game or so overinflated I’d gues by reading them they didn’t play it. It’s a boy who cried wolf scenario with them.… Expand

    I am about 25 hours into Hogwarts Legacy and absolutely loving it. So much love was put into Hogwarts and the NPCs. The cosmetics are beautiful and transmog is available right from the start. The graphics are great for a game coming to other consoles as well and on Unreal Engine 4. I would love to see further expansions and a potential second game in UE5.

    This is a well thought out game. It brings all of the magic from Harry Potter to your fringertips and within an entirely new experience. It is an excellent game and certainly worth the time.

    Absolutely loving this game; it's pure escapism, full of exploration and wonder. There are so many side quests to enjoy. Graphically, I'm playing through on Fidelity with Raytracing, and I often find myself just staring, in awe, at the hallways, as the light bounces from the stained-glass windows onto the marble floors. Terrific!

    Hogwarts legacy provides a feeling of wonder alongside fantastic gameplay while maintaining all the charm the Harry Potter books and movies had, The game doesn’t necessarily require any knowledge of Harry Potter to be enjoyed or underwood as it provides a unique identity for itself that makes it stand out on its own

    Liking the game after 10 hours, combat is good (playing on hard), enjoy collecting stuff and finding secrets. Graphics are pretty good running on a 3080TI, don't play RT but everything else is on ULTRA. The game has the same looks from the movies. Great game overall so far, and also enjoying the tears from all the bashing people are trying to do to the game and failing...

    Just amazing, I have been a fan of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World since I was 5 years old, 25 years later and this is exactly the game we have always wanted. It feels very familiar but with a completely new storyline. There are Easter eggs everywhere which are always a joy to find. Thank you Avalanche for the love you put into this beautiful game

    Well, I'd say like 9.5/10. The main goal of the game was to create an atmosphere of magical world - and it did it brilliantly!! You can spend hours just exploring the Hogwarts itself. Combat is also good, quests are interesting. The weak points are facial animations and some technical issues, but the game is still great!

    An excellent game, compelling characters & fun story. Coming in fairly new to the potter world, it captures/portrays a fantastic fantasy world to get lost within. Really do recommend if you enjoy fantasy open world games.

    This game has exceeded any expectations I had. I am completely lost in the beautifully crafted world and its mysteries. The combat is engaging and fun, the side quests and exploration will provide hours of additional meaningful content as well.     A Magical game, accumulated more than 15 hours in the game, the best asset of this game is the combat itself very complicated combat yet an exciting way to play using range magic, I like the combos where you can create ways to pummel and get huge damage to your opponent. Aesthetics is great considering the ambiance of the game it works perfectly. Exploration is also good but kinda repetitive but most are okayish I just wished that the puzzled were a bit more complicated but things like capturing beasts are rather fun, other game mechs such as the room requirement were also addictive you will find yourself locked in, and spending more hours collecting items just to unlock certain items and setting up the room the way you want it.

    The one thing that I dislike is the limited types of enemies hopefully at the later part I'll be encountering the different unique types of mobs aside from dubogs, trolls, undead, wolf and spiders.

    Story since I'm not half way yet, I would say it looks promising regarding the Ancient Magic.

    Overall the game is a solid 9/10, with amazing combat and a beautiful aesthetic of a magical world.    … Expand

    Spells are easy to use so far, quite straightforward to do combos as well.
    Again iam only 5 hours in, but i can tell its gonna be a really good experience!
    Its a very deep game, full of lore. The castle is lovingly created, a maze of rooms and corridors. But u wont get lost, theres a magical path guide you can follow, or use floo chutes to get around instantly!
    Hogsmead is also created with passion, all the shops, the pubs, it feels like a living breathing town!
    Ive not had any bugs as of yet, its been pretty flawless!
    Its a game that takes its time though and cannot be rushed.
    Theres plenty of action though.
    I can highly recommend to all ages and all sexes.
    Character creation is fairly expansive as well.
    There are plenty of clothing items to pick up, wand parts as well.
    Theres a transmog system, so u can have the benefits of an item of clothing, but can make it look more appealing, by making it invisible, or make it look like another item of clothing!
    If your a Harry Potter fan, this games for you.
    If your not a Harry Potter fan, this game is still for you!
    For me so far its 10/10.

I've been to all the HP theme parks too. Hogwarts has never looked so good. Also game mechanics are solid as are fight mechanics. Exploration is rewarded. The world is a complete delight.     An absolutely superb game! The creators and devs put so much love into this game. The world building and exploration is incredible and the combat is simple but effective. The story and character creation is brilliant. There are minor optimisation issues but I have no doubt these will be ironed out with updates. I’m so impressed by this game and am thoroughly enjoying my time at Hogwarts!

    I also have this on PC (playing on normal with Xbox one controller) and the PS5 (playing on hard with dual sense obviously) version runs better stick to performance mode. You need those frames thick and fast to survive combat especially on hard difficulty.     It's been a decade since we've had a full Potterverse game, but the wait has been well worth it. Hogwarts Legacy gets just about everything right, with its involving storyline and myriad of main and side quests. Perhaps its finest feature though is Hogwarts itself, providing as much joy in just exploring the halls as performing set tasks. We doubt a single Harry Potter fan will be disappointed. We certainly weren't.
