    10 days after launch prizes were nerfed to promote micro transactions. An embarrassment to Gran Turismo. I wish I could refund this.

    Really good game with great potential. Unfortunately it's bogged down by horrendously predatory microtransactions that absolutely ruin the experience for anyone with a job, a family, or a social life. The grind is borderline unbearable and designed to push people to buy credits with real money. I have no problem with these tactics in a free-to-play game, not in a $70 premium title.     The ol' bait 'n' switch.

    At first it seemed to have a great single player experience, but the latest patch has cut many of the ways to earn in game currency to expand your collection. Couple this with limited time to buy certain cars, it just feels aggressively pushing you to spend real world money on top of the full price game to gain access to high end cars. I have no issue with microtransactions in general, but in this case it feels like I paid full price to access an expensive online GT7 car store (buying two high end cars is more expensive than the game itself!). The only way round it (I've noticed so far) is a looooot of grinding. Also you must be connected to the internet to play the single player, and the servers must be up or you only have access to a very limited part of the game.

    I'll change my score if the developer listens to the fanbase and changes things, but this absolutely killed the nostalgic, otherwise high quality, gran turismo experience for me and leaves me feeling like I've been duped.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had been counting down the days for this to come out. I was so excited for the enhanced graphics, great physics and tons of single player racing to be had - plus the nostalgia of loving gt1 and 2 as the first ever games I played on ps1. After the first weekend, I had almost completed the entire main story of gt7.

    The graphics are great. There are many cool cars to be had and lots of tuning to do on each individual car. I loved the courses, they all look good and are fun to race around. I want to love it so badly. I wanted to be racing for hours and hours and enjoying getting deeper into the story and collecting.

    But.. there is so much wrong with this game down to basic fundamental planning I’m not sure how they released it in this state. They promised unique engine noises for each car, which proved to not be true. Almost all of the races you do in the entire game are “catch up” races where you start at a rolling start and the AI in front of you is even spaced out. This results in the #1 AI car being turns in front of you even from the beginning. So usually your car has to be much more powerful than the cars your racing or you don’t have a chance. This is not racing.

    There are no qualifying races for position? How is that even possible. The game is one of the shortest games I’ve ever played, some of it’s predecessors we’re over 20x longer to complete fully. Licenses on dirt roads or even dirt races in general have horrible physics. Plus plenty of missions/licenses they just forgot to put dirt tires on the cars so it’s impossible to win at this point. The campaign or “cafe menu” system is extremely flawed, mainly it’s designed with very few actual races or championships and the rewards are too easy to collect and telegraphed by making you collect 3 packs of cars in order. Why not make the car collection system random? And you can collect 3 pack sets over time which net you something greater? It’s setup so linear it’s infuriating. Not to mention, the entire campaign at this point is built around the B and A license. Making the license tests for international B, A and super licenses completely useless. You can very easily setup championships and races to do it seems like it was intentionally made to be short, perhaps to focus on microtransaction sales via collecting cars. They turned the game into a car collection game over a racing game. They have now put in tickets where you roll random loot. Totally fine to have loot boxes in the game. But when you make a pay to win option where you can buy coins to just straight buy whatever you want if you use your real money.. that is so incredibly disingenuous towards your loyal fans it’s insulting. At this point, shame on this company for releasing the game in this state - and for planning it out like this in the first place. I will forever remember being disappointed at gran turismo 7 and the last season of game of thrones as the most disappointing things in my life thus far.    … Expand

    Other than the forced online mode, insane grinding mechanics forcing you to buy microtransactions, terrible rally racing physics, and poor racing AI the game is great. Unfortunate that another studio has choosen to forsake its loyal fanbase in order to please their corporate overlords. Shame on you Sony and Polyphony Digital. Forza is the better choice atm

    Very disappointed. I have been a fan of the series for many years. What are my earliest memories was playing this game with my dad. Some grinding is expected. However, this game's microtransactions are unacceptable. Moreover, I have a hard disk; yet, I'm unable to play offline. Somewhere along the road this game lost it's soul.

But then they promoted a tripple A title for months and ended up with a totally broken version of whatever you will call this game.     A Single-Player game that is not playable without server connection and they’re intentionally lowering prize money so that they can force you to buy in-game money via micro transactions so you’re able to afford a car that’s worth $100 in real world money.

    Se voce sonha em guiar carros como McLaren F1 (Cr 18.500.000) esse não é um jogo bom para você. A campanha é curta e enjoativa e mesmo completando o jogo você não consegue 50% do valor da McLaren não restando alternativa a nao ser com dinheiro real.

    For a racing game, the cars look and sound great and the circuits look stunning in 4k. However, everything else about this game is just dreadful. It's got a half-assed story mode with only 38 missions. They ruined the economy in this game by nerfing the already abysmal credit payouts in order to force players to buy credits with real-world money. A disappointing entry in the GT series.

They are taking customers as mugs and think arrogantly that we should be grateful for every bone they throw us and how dare anyone complain about their product not meeting expectations. They are pushing extra monatery payments for in game creidts.

    The cost of cars have gone up in value since previous versions, they have taken away ability to earn money by reducing race prize money. The game doesnt even allow you to sell cars to raise capital for different cars. There is basic no means to save quickly or a mini game economy to allow you to progress to more expensive cars. It goes against what made GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4 and GT5 good games they keep messing with great formula and ruining it because they wont listen to what customers want.

    I had initially thought this time Polyphony had got it right but how wrong i they dont care about the product anymore but your continued money after payimg £70 UK cash for game it seems that is not enough and they want more of your money to enjoy the game. A game is not a flat cost anymore and everything is add ons. If i had known that before PS5 that was Sony's new business model i would never have bought one. This game it is simple, dont buy it, sony have got greedy, polyphony have got greedy, they have ruined a good game.

    Finally servers down 24 hours and counting, cant play a game i paid because no offline play, disgrace sony, disgrace. You are going to lose your untouchable business with this level of contempt for you customers. Dont say you were not warned.     Pay to win casino game. Copy GT Sport, paste as GT 7. There is nothing new, far away from sim, it's really easy arcade racing, but you are going to drive **** slow cars for a long time, until you can purchase one-two fast cars... or you can purchase them for real money, that's the big idea here.

    Have been locked out of the game for more than a day now while they fix the idea that people might be able to earn enough credits by playing the game that they could afford some of the cars, rather than go with their ridiculous microtransactions. Feel incredibly ripped off and really regret preordering now.

    Its so close to being a mobile game with the credits grind. Servers down? You can't play the single player. Racing is decent but not much different from GT Sport. Haptics are nice on ps5 though.

    The game is unplayable. Servers have been down for nearly 2 days, and this isn't the first downtime. The game has been riddled with bugs. The online multiplayer has not yet worked at all, broken on day 1 and still broken. The patches introduced more gamebreaking bugs. Absolutely awful product, avoid this game at all costs.

Having purchased the game on the 16/03/2022 i have manage to play 2 hours of a £70+ game that i have always enjoyed playing even sport but not being able to play it for over 24 hours now and booking time of work to have a few days playing far from impressed also a massive lack in communication from polyphony digital not good.     You need to be online all the time even for the single player content. The in-game economy is bad, you barely earn any credits and the cars are way more expensive than in the previous games. Everything is done to push you to use micro transactions to buy cars (limited availability, time restrictions, invitations required to buy some cars, etc).

The single player campaign is restrictive and pre determined, cars are unaffordable and to top it off a game update scheduled to last 2 hours is going on 30 hours as I type this.     You have to progress the game in a very precise order, also forced to go in and out of coffee shop, go to race, check restrictions, get back to garage and tunning to prep the car, get back to race place, annoying 10 screens you have to go back and forward

    Disgusting practises by Sony. Their first party games are already the most expensive in the industry now, but they have released a patch that almost forces you towards Microtransactions. They cut most in-game rewards.

    Plus the game is ALWAYS ONLINE. The game has been down as of writing for near 24hrs & we can't even play single player.

    I’ve not been able to play this $100 for two days now. Why on earth is single player (basically offline) mode requiring us to have a constant internet connection? And then just to really screw with us servers are down for maintenance constantly (and almost two days this current time), which in Australia is at a really annoying time when you might want to play the bloody game!

    If you also want to play split-screen forget about it. It is even worst than GT Sport. The second player cannot change any assists, change any controller and the car is always slower even when you put all the assists back on for player 1, also there is no AI that can be added to the race even on the PS5 version. Launching the split-screen mode like this just to say there is couch coop is a disgrace and should not even be included in the game in the current state, which I guess will never be updated.    … Expand

    It’s ok for polyphony to earn money, but not on that way…kinda sad that all the good studios/publishers are going to the evil side.

    Unbearable grind on five races, aggressive micro transactions, less content than in the GTS, dead Sport mode, technical problems with the servers. Just unplayable. This is literally the worst part of the GT-series games. Selling this for $90 and asking for a donation is just disrespectful to players and GT fans.

    First game i bought in a long time. First red flag was a huge update download lasting an hour after already waiting an hour for the disks to copy.     Frustrating, best not to start. Once you do, it will take you a day or so to unlock all the content then realise you will never earn enough money to buy the 66 Jaguar....(or if you do, then congrats, but then not buy another 20m car). Also I refuse micro transactions to buy cars.

    Two weeks in and the 'always online' is a real issue. We haven't been able to actually progress in this game due to days long outage. This would not be a huge problem if we could play some of the game offline. Fans have spent money on this product and it is basically unplayable.

    Graphics and gameplay worth the >80 rating BUT too few content. Online access needed. Reward system is rigged. Worst grind for expensive cars and parts to promote MTX. Disgraceful design. Worst game in the 25 year brand history. Dont buy until it is cheaper and updated.

    It’s really unacceptable of Polyphony to make changes to the amount of credits being given for races when they also sell in game money. It’s just as scummy that they made the game have to connect online and then the servers are done for most of a day.

    The fact that you need to be online to play single player races is absolutely ridiculous. Especially when it's now been inaccesible for over 24hours. The greed of trying to get people to pay actual cash for in-game cars is just nonsense. This would truly be an incredible game but now I'm just disappointed I bought it in the first place.

    Game has been literally unplayable in the single player mode and the developer gives no indication of urgency. Even once servers are back up, you are always at risk of it becoming unplayable with any disconnect between you and Polyphony.

But it is also abhorrent because despite costing £70 at release, the developers don't think this is enough and the balance between received credits and car/upgrade costs has shifted massively since previous games. Not content with this, when people started sharing optimal races online that helped offset these actions, the developer released a patch to nerf the rewards in those races. Instead, what they want you to do is buy credits using more real-world currency because otherwise the grind in this game is very real and painful.

    Add to this that even if you want to just enjoy the single-player experience, you cannot do that without being online. "So what?" you might say, "Getting online is easy these days!". Well mostly it is, yes, but it's all rendered irrelevant if the PD servers you need to connect to are unavailable for 2 days. Like now. So the £70 game you bought cannot be played at all, not even in single player mode, because the developer has taken the server down for "maintenance".

    This game could have been amazing. As I say, it looks and drives amazing when you can actually play it and when you can afford a car you like. But sadly, doing either of these things is far from easy. I'll be doing something I've never done with a console game before because even bad purchases I suck up to support game development normally, but this is such scummy behaviour from the developer that this will be going back to Amazon for a refund. I cannot support this behaviour in any way.    … Expand

    Requiring an online connection for single player content is a poor choice at best, but when maintenance causes 24hr+ outages it's simply unacceptable. GT7 needs some serious reforms before it can be considered worth the money paid for it (even more so if you purchased the 25th Anniversary edition)

    Just absolutely terrible. I was so excited for this game on PS5. I finished all of the progression races in less than a week. And now the game has been down for over 24 hours. Total embarrassment. For context, GT Sport had a better single player mode. I never should have bought this.

I understand grinding sometimes but at the current economy set up engaging players on FOMO with limited digital stock of cars on a timer and potentially being short on in game credits, they are pushing for people to shell out for additional cash. For a game that already cost £70? The bait and switch pulled on MTX has left a bitter taste in many fans mouths as MTX were only implemented on launch day, after all the reviews had already come out. Furthermore there is a half-baked single player campaign that is extremely short and ends very abruptly. The campaign rewards you with cars for chasing down a linear rail of cars driven by a brain dead AI. However the cars that are rewarded can't be sold for in game credits like previous titles so you are stuck with a cluttered garage. Further evidence of predatory practices pushing players towards MTX can be seen in the trophy list as there is a trophy for purchasing the same car 10 times. The roulette system to win big ticket items is heavy skewed towards the lowest winnings and its completely random if you win a 1* to 6* ticket from the daily workout. There are very few new additions to cars in the roster at present and very few races for single player enjoyment. For a single player designed GT game it is currently abysmal, the online focused GT Sport from PS4 has more single player content and is better polished. Seriously disappointed in this numbered entry and surprised that the 'Games as a Service' model has been allowed to operate in such a barebones, blatant cash grab fashion.… Expand

    Don't buy this game. Especially after the statement from Kaz (Polyphony boss) which basically defended their decisions to monetise the game as much as possible. Didn't even get any sort of in-game credit compensation or anything after the entire game was broken for over a day!

    I can't imagine a buyout game that still can't log in after 24 hours of maintenance. In addition, your first consideration is not to improve the user experience, optimize online play, Instead, first consider how to force players to recharge into the game. I am really, very disappointed.

    I will sell my ps5 and rely on my far superior pc and xbsx.

    I was 13 when the the 1st game came out in 1997 on PS1 and I salute everyone who worked on these titles for making milestones in racing game and motorsport history. The Impact you left is very special to millions of people over several generations. That alone is pure art.

    2. Earning money to buy the cars is made artificially harder due to up to -50% lower in-game price money. In-game purchases is what we are bullied into. Micro transactions my ass! This is god damn gran turismo not some scum ebay offering.

    3. We cant sell/trade/share cars as it used to be to get money or just as a present for friends and family. How more unsocial can it get?

    All these marketing tricks and false shady communication to reduce "cheating". Boy does your PR spin doctor maybe suffer from alzheimer? Me and millions of other players and fans of the series are done with this until this is changed.

Single player campaign must be always connected to wifi in order to be played even tho the store states that online play is OPTIONAL. Best example of the greed todays developers have. Avoid this game at all costs.

    Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

    Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

    Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
