When I saw they were rebalancing the race payouts, I thought, “Great they are listening to their fans”. Except, they were not. They have reduced payouts, making some cars take literal days of grinding literally one or two tracks with almost acceptable payouts. Its just greed to push towards microtransactions, as are many of the other design choices. Invites to buy cars, used and legendary cars rotate in real life days rather than in game days as it used to be. Oh and as of writing this review, their update to nerf payouts (which once again, were already too low) has broken the game and put it offline for 24 hours, because of unnecessary always online for a primarily single player game. Honestly, if they just increased custom race payouts 10-20x I would be happy (yes, they currently pay that bad…) Expand

As a faithful and old player of the GT games since GT2, I canno't accept the greedy and utterly counterproductive move made by Polyphony and Sony with the 1.07 update. Indeed, they have largely reduced the credits earned per race and it becomes ridiculously long and time-consuming, needless to say also ultra boring to earn new credits to buy new cars. Other modes than the solo mode are not rewarding at all, and the utmost shame is that a lot of cars are very expensive, some of them costing the equivalent of +30h of farming in terrible conditions. There are +400 cars in the game, and what we want as players is to be able to earn new cars at a regular pace to enjoy them, and not to have to wait 5 years before buying thisbeloved and long-desired 12m Jaguar.

Polyphony created at the last minute before the release of the game extremely unaffordable MTs in prevision of such moves, and as of now you may spend 120e of real money just to buy ONE car if you cannot farm. This is absolutely unacceptable because we do not want to pay 1000 euros a full game, but not to be deceived by a game maker that already sells its game 80e. The endless maintenance today also proves that the compulsory online servers to play the solo was a bad idea and destroys the gaming experience for which we had very high expectations, considering the prestige of the games, and their past mistakes.

It seems that Kazunogain and his teams don't learn ! The game is failing on some parts but stays a pretty good game who deserve a grade between 7 and 9, it is too bad to waste such an experience with bad decisions and treacherous MTs.

If the policy regarding the reduction of credits flips back, I will reconsider my grade and will eventually regrade the game by a 7+.

We'll be a lot to do that, so please hear us ! It's a massive and collective complaint (just check Reddit, Twitter, GTPlanet).

I hope we'll be heard. Sincerely from France

Enjoyable once it works . The always being online would not have been a issue if the servers would keep being online. Also i understand like sport you could buy cars with cash but micro ( or not so micro ) transactions to even be remotely capable of getting all cars is just messed up. The once that love your game you screw over by turning the credits down instead of keeping it the same.

It can't be real, that in the year 2022 there is still developers charging a premium price for their product and lock the main gameplay progression behind a F2P es-que credit system.
Either make the game free to play or change the credit payouts, so you don't have to play multiple hours for just one of the over 400 cars available.

Why can’t we sell cars? It was a core mechanic of previous games - again pushing us towards mtx.

Why is the campaign so sparse? It feels like GT4 and 5 had more content. The cafe feature is a glorified tutorial and the lack of traditional campaign absolute sucks, cafe feels so linear and boring/sanitised. No endurance races and b-spec as well. An honesty pathetic attempt at a Gran turismo game, feels like a rehash of sport designed as a ‘proper’ Gran Turismo.

I’ve probably missed some stuff that others have mentioned but this game stinks and has alienated a massive, dedicated fan base who were absolutely buzzing for the next proper GT instalment.

Microtransactions kill games, kill the grind and ultimately are a middle finger towards your fanbase. The driving itself is fun, but online playing (if the servers work, which they do not for a while now) is borderline impossible since you need credits to tune your car.

Single player would be fun if there was something after the GT cafe. What is left after the shortest single player campaign in a GT game ever is the collection and tuning of cars and trying them out on the track. If you have the credits. Which you don't. If you can get the cars. Which you can't, since it's a roulette wheel of daily prizes. If you can play at all. Which you can't since the servers are down.

Still, the driving is really fun. The Dualsense implementation is top notch and if Polyphony manages to at least remove the greedy practices, I'm sure we can have a good overall game. In its current unplayable state, the money is better spent somewhere else.

Why do we need an on-line connection for single play as well?
I bought it as a package and it made no sense at all.
Besides, it's been over 24 hours without a maintenance progress report. Terrible neglect.

I would like to urge the developers to take a hard look at this.

I'm done paying for video games. I was stung by Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR was supposed to be one of the good guys. Now I've been stung by GT7.

I bought GT7 the other night and I haven't even been able to play the damn career mode since the server has been down the entire time. I can't even save my options settings, apparently you need to be online just to be able to save the fact that you're done watching the 8 minute intro every time you start up the game to nothing. Doesn't sound like I'm missing a career mode judging by the other reviews here , just the Cafe thing, which I thought sounded cool in the pro reviews, but I thought that was a cool side quest, not the whole damb career. I bought this because I've always loved the GT series and the reviews said that it had returned to it's ps1 and ps2 glory days. Obviously even game news is fake news, paid for by sponsors and given a script to read from, they've either never played the old GT or are taking money to lie.

So yeah, I'm done paying for video games. They all suck now anyway.

PD noticed that one short race was profitable enough that you could buy a high end car - around 1 million credits - after an hour of grind, and a legendary car after 15-20 hours of grinding the same race. This was so unacceptable to them that they nerfed the prize money in an update. What do you think - is it to offer you a “sense of achievement and accomplishment”, or is it to push you towards microtransactions? To buy a single “legendary” car in the game can require $120 USD of real world money, on top of the $70+ USD you paid for the game in the first place. Physics are… questionable. Sounds were acceptable in PS3, but have fallen way behind the likes of Forza. At the time of writing, servers have been down for more than 24 hours which blocks access to 99% of single player content. The only possible justification for always online here is that PD is terrified that you find a way around their microtransactions.

Firstly the prizes for races are woeful. Servers down for over a day with no updates. Music rally is just an absolute joke. Decreased car selection. Microtransaction heavy game. Arcade racing game only, finished the cafe menus and still not a single grid start in sight. The game looks nice but is just a vessel for microtransactions. Will be returning this game.

From the shortest career mode in the franchise, excluding Prologues and the PSP game, to a broken multiplayer system where they can't even implement Balance of Power properly, let alone regulate tuning so it doesn't favor one particular car, the game is a nightmare for any Gran Turismo fan and an utter disappointment for everyone who hoped it would be a glorious return to form after the barebones entry that was Sport. And even compared to that, the physics seem to be all over the place as cars lose grip arbitrarily at high speed and rally stage jumps send you into the shadow realm on the regular. To make matters even worse, corporate greed has infested this already lackluster game with microtransactions and as of yesterday's patch, for which maintenance hasn't even concluded 24 hours later, leaving everyone stranded and unable to play due to the game being online even for its single player component, earning the credits required to purchase the most expensive cars, which let me tell you, are really bloody expensive, has become a sisyphean grind that could take you almost an entire day of running the same awful race. As it stands, this game is a monument to anti-consumer attitude that can easily rival some of the worst abominations created by the likes of EA. If Sony cares about its reputation they will need to take action to solve the aforementioned issues, because otherwise this game could easily become its very own Star Wars Battlefront 2 and soil their record of integrity and dedication to quality. But even so, this launch is not one people will remember too fondly. Expand

‪The corporate greed is just next level now. And anyone who doesn’t see this has successfully been indoctrinated into believing this is okay. It’s a frikken video game, not a career path. Mtx was only ever acceptable when it was for cosmetic changes, never for gameplay.‬

From the fact that they didn’t even talk about mtx until after game reviews were published and then launched, makes it a complete bait and switch move. To then lowering pay outs on many races making it a very very long grind to get some of the top cars.

Time is the one thing you never get back. And the time that I spend playing the game should be spend playing and enjoying the game and not grinding. And I shouldn’t have to pay more than the initial $90 CDN.

If Polyphony wanted to release a freemium game, then the base game should have been that… free!

    It’s just bad business. Shame.

1.) You CANNOT play the game if you are not connected to their servers, including single-player. Seriously, why do I need to be connected to your server to have some fun driving in my own career mode? This is idiotic and I hope folks reading this are discouraged from buying GT7 after reading the multitude of reviews saying this same thing.

2.) It's blatantly obvious that they are pushing for a "pay to win" format. The most recent patch material reduced the payout for the few races that were actually paying OK. They appear to be doing everything in their power to push microtransactions on a player base that has already paid $80 for the damn game, as the current format would have you grinding for days/weeks for one expensive car. Some of us actually work for a living and simply do NOT have time for that grind. I guess we're exactly who they're targeting with their mtx push, but I'm not taking part in that mess.

3.) The game itself has lost its "soul". I don't know how else to describe it, but I've never been less enthusiastic about a GT game, and I've been playing them for over a decade now. Every race is the exact same thing. Start in the back of the pack and weave your way through traffic as you complete your "time trial." The game feels vapid and almost solely focused on PD taking every dime out of your pocket that they can.

Long story short, as of March 22, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IN ITS CURRENT STATE. This is trash and I'm hoping I can save a few people a few bucks by taking the time to write this review.
