    A brilliant video game in every aspect. One of the best stories ever delivered in a game, executed perfectly with a wonderful cast, amazing soundtrack and top-tier animations and character design. Combat feels amazing even though it didn't evolve dramatically from the previous game, and the additions clicked perfectly for me.

    Even after the story is done, this game keeps on giving with    A brilliant video game in every aspect.     Bigger and Better!!! The first hour alone beats the climax of every game I have ever played. The characters are masterfully done with thor and odin making a hell of an impression when we first meet them. The combat feels fresh and new while still retaining the amazing feel of the previous game. Each realm is unique in colors, style, lore, monsters, themes, and puzzles. The story is full of twists and turns that nobody will keep you hyped for what comes next. Unfortunately, the story is not up to the same quality as the one from 2018. This is not the Ragnarok story that was set up by 2018 and there are many people who have come to this conclusion. The new characters introduced in this game dont feel like they are from the same universe as the characters in 2018. Baldur, Modi, and Magni are all very serious and well written characters that don't feel nothing like thor, odin, or any of the Nasgard characters. It's the same feeling of going from The Incredible Hulk and the first Iron Man film to the Avengers. For this reason and many more inconsistencies in writting, the story is nowhere near as memorable or polished as GOW from 2018.… Expand

    Couldnt ask for more was exactly what i was looking for. Great graphics great story had me waiting for what comes next while enjoying the story being told. Length of the game and quality was all there. Didnt need a bunch of updates to be a functional game which is a nice change from other games this year.

    While the gameplay hasn't changed much compared to GoW 2018, the story has improved immensely. The characters have major development and we get to see brand new characters brought into the mix that all shine. There's much more to do in this game and the quality is higher than ever.

    I really like the game, almost everything in this game is well made, except the menu (weapon, shields, ect) in-game fellt kinda disorganized, and I wish that Insomniac Games had build the PS5 version ground up, but it's a ported PS4 version into PS5 version with visual enhancment.

    I love this game! It adds so much more to the story, and adds just enough to game play to make it not too much of a repeat of GOW 2018. The graphics, and moCAP is top notch, as well as the acting by oll of the old and new characters. This should have been game of the year IMO, but nonetheless it's my top game ive played in 2022!

    WOOOWW. This story is just amazing. The combat is done even better. The characters are so well written. There is a lot of well written emotion and some truly heartfelt moments. There are times I was screeching with how hype some of the scenes were. There are a few pacing issues but nothing to ruin the game not even close. This game did not need to change the formula, several reviews saying it feels like dlc is just not a well thought out comment. They kept what worked and improved upon everything and overall it made the game an even more premium package. GOTY and a truly memorable experience. Depois de tantos jogos, a história ainda continua interessante, o único ponto negativo é que God of War elevou tanto o nível dos inimigos que todo final teria que ser épico, o que não acontece aqui, de um ponto de vista narrativo fazMinha franquia de jogos favorita, possivelmente uma das maiores de toda a indústria de games, o jogo é extremamente otimizado na antiga geração de consoles.     Les animations sont au coeur d'une réussite flamboyante. Les armes, la manipulation de ceux-ci et Permet de structurer soigneusement ses statistiques selon le rendement choisi. Des créatures mythiques aux ennemis redoutables, les combats sont vifs et nerveux. De nouveaux personnages rejoindront l'histoire. En somme, la beauté des royaumes ne laissèrent personne indifférent. God of War Ragnarok n'est pas une suite 1.5 et l'histoire ne permet pas de s'attendre à chaque tournure d'événements. Dommage que le titre ait été vendu par des personnes sans respects pour les joueurs et pour l'entreprise Danata Monica. C'est une honte à ceux et celles qui ont publié sur les médias sociaux le contenu de ce titre avant sa sortie le 9 novembre 2022.

    J'ai au compteur près de 70 heures pour platine le titre. Veuillez noter que la particularité d de ce titre permet de modifier la difficulté du jeu en tout temps. Une nouveauté pouvant être utilse aux nouveaux explorateurs des neufs royaumes.

    Félicitations pour les nombreux awards reçu pour Santa Monica. Bravo à votre équipe, une expérience sans équivoque au delà des attentes après celui de 2018. Bravo!!!    … Expand

    This is one of if not the most beautiful games I have ever had the privilege of experiencing.
    While the gameplay is captivating and very enjoyable, the story is the real goat.

    Changing my review. Before i stated that it's the exact same game. Boy was i wrong! What an incredible journey it has been. I have never in my life encountered such an amazing story. No movie, book or any other video game comes close to the story of God of War. This is simply amazing and i cannot express it in words. The only way you can understand is to play this masterpiece.

    No le hagan caso a los hater, GoW es un juegardo. Mejora muchas mecanicas del anterior y nos entrega un sistema de combate muy pulido, además de tener una historia muy épica. Disfruten los juegos.

Kratos after years of rage and fighting, had finally been able to settle down, with a wife who guided him through his pain and regrets. Now, Kratos has to go to war again, and worst of all, see his son go through it. He fears that Atreus will go down the same path as his, and it is amazing to see their journey.
    The gameplay is a really great improvement, it feels more responsive and faster, parrying is really fun, and all the weapons complement each other amazingly well (sometimes in game development, less is more, so 1 new perfect weapon is way better than a dozen mediore ones). Admitedly, the fights thoughout the story are not that challenging, even less so if you are exploring as much as possible. You can get to Odin with so much great gear that he becomes really easy on the normal difficulty (which I believe to be fair, if you are playing on normal and prepare more than avarage, then you should have an easier time). However, there are many fun challenges in the game, the valkyries are gone, but there are Berserkers that have really cool fights.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay and combat seems harsh and unpolished most of the time. The visual cues, red and yellow rings that should serve to help you defend or avoid attacks, are useless, they actually confuse and mislead you if nothing else.
    SPOILERS BELLOW (potentially)

    It's unbelievable how someone green lights a weak story like that to a blockbuster powerhouse game as GoW. No god acts like they're immortal mytholocgical beings, all of them sounds and acts like the average north american you see in a B movie. Childish and shallow dialogues, let alone motivations. Freyr is a lowly guerrilla leader that uses **** explosives (!?) to fight undying asgardian einherjars.
    Odin is nothing more than a common american gangster.
    Thor is a crying drunk depressed because (?) *reasons*
    And the final battle, omg, motivated by vengeance - as Kratos himself states multiple times in the 5 minutes before going to to war - for the recently murdered main character. After 30 hs of gameplay, the final battle motivation is the death of our buddy that just died for no reason at all. Almost everything that happened in the 30 previous hours is simply a inconsequential filler.    … Expand

    It doesn't get any better than this. From start to finish, this game is a masterpiece. In a world full of scammy money grab titles, this is a breath of fresh air and feels like what you're getting is more than your money's worth. 12/10 a must play.

    Masterpiece. Literally twists and turns at every corner. I thought I ruined the game for myself because I was scrolling through YouTube and saw a couple of trolls that posted what I thought was major spoiler material from the game but, turns out, it was very minor overall. There were so many excellent surprises in this game.

Looks pretty and combat is serviceable but nothing special. Ultimately very boring and I won't be playing anything else by Santa Monica Studios going forward.     For the story, no spoilers, everything that was left a question in the prior game are all answered and engaging to see what happens next. The pacing was good better than the first game. Everything makes sense as you progress through the story not many plot holes.

    The game did not force me to do any side missions. I strictly did the main story, and was capable of finishing it. I still progressed becoming a stronger Kratos at the end.

    Emotions in the story had a solid foundation each chapter was building up to an important scene or scenes in each characters personal development. Everyone had a different path.

    Lastly, enemy variety was one of the strengths of this great game. Each realm had its own unique enemy variety boss types. It felt fresh every time, and sometimes it was challenging. I played on, give me balance difficulty mode.

    All in all, fantastic game the characters had so much depth to them. Each character had their own unique ability throughout the story. It made me so happy and smiled.     This game was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the way you can put together attack + defense combos. Even though some of the more difficult bosses took several attempts to beat, they were all fun to battle and overcome.

My gripes with it are that "Give Me God Of War" difficulty is not at all that difficult and Kratos stops saying "Boy!" which was a major selling point for me from the original. I don't think that the sections where you control Atreus are all that good and somewhat tedious, the rest of the game is great. Another issue however is that the Drauger boss fights are very underwhelming and just easy. Another personal preference is that you have Freya join you after finishing the game, it would've been much better with Atreus. I recommend that you listen when Atreus says we should go treasure hunting because otherwise it will have to be done with Freya… Expand

The Thor fight at the beginning, Brok's blessing on the Draupnir Spear, and the twist with Tyr all blew me away. Critics of the game mostly harp on the repetitive combat and lack of game, which frankly I don't understand. The story is well-mingled with the gameplay, not giving too much of either at any given time. The combat improves on 2018's masterpiece with greater variety of monsters and a plethora of upgrades to adapt playstyle to. A+ performances from the entire cast; I'm looking forward to Christopher Judge's next role. My only complaint with the game is the slow sections. Lots of walking and talking, even if the talking is relevant and important. 8/10, I feel blessed to have played two games as good as this and Elden Ring this year.… Expand

    I didnt like the 2018 game, but I loved this one...however, it has problems, the story could've been better, there was enough material to make TWO games, the ending feels rushed...on the other hand, the writting becomes pretty messy near the end. Characters also speak "weird", this is especially noticiable with Odin, you probably read about this in other reviews.

    When it comes to gameplay, there are also some problems; camera is still a problem when fighting multiple enemies, and the game wont just SHUT UP, every time you spend more than 3 seconds trying to figure out a boss or a puzzle, your AI partners will start giving you hints, and they wont stop, and in some cases, they will give you these hints in a "funny" manner, and hearing "jokes" when you are in the middle of a boss fight...it gets annoying, really annoying.

    Why give it a 9/10 with all these problems, then? because what this game does good, it does it REALLY good.

    Also, I played the entire game on a base PS4, and while I'm sure the game running at 60fps and 4K on a PS5 is a better experience, the game still runs and looks amazing at 30fps and 1080p...no slowdowns or bugs, even on day one.    … Expand

    I've played like 10 hours and its just as good as the first. Would have prefered a continued save or something but thor yelling your victories from the last game at you is cool too.

    My second God of War game. I've never played the older games. The narrative is perfect in my opinion. The main characters are well written. Touches the heart. The game made me want to go through God of War 1-3.

    Me lo he pasado increíble jugando a este título. Los doblajes buenísimos, me encanta la evolución de los personajes, los mapas de los mundos y que siempre haya algo que hacer, es imposible aburrirse, me ha ido de 10 en PS5, ningún fallo reseñable. Muy recomendado.

    I've been playing this game since its launch and its story is so well done that I just have time and start playing it. Another fact is that in terms of graphics it is the best of now and it is that for example the snow in this game is the one that acts in a more realistic way that I have seen even much better than the snow of red redemption 2.

    The characters and the arcs they go through are fantastic, and the development of their values and relationships is really well written. Without getting into spoilers, the endings to Freya, Kratos and Atreus' characters were perfect and well deserved, especially Kratos who grows the most of any of the characters. The graphics are obviously amazing so I do not have to say much more about that. The new characters introduced are also pretty great, especially Thor and Odin. The side quests are surprisingly fun, and I actually enjoyed these more than the main story at times, they were like mini stories and full of history and emotion. The bosses are also pretty good, I dont remember a single one that was not fun to fight.

    Now for the not so good stuff. While I wrote how I felt the characters were well handled, I think the story is not nearly as good as 2018. It feels quite underwhelming, and often feels like it does not take itself very seriously. The pacing is just not good, its far too long and we spent way too much time in very boring levels. I genuinely had to force myself to keep playing at many points in the game, and couldnt understand why the developers decided to make some of these sections so long. These drawn out sections don't contribute to anything I felt. A lot of things that happen in the story feel quite rushed and not earned, especially with the Aesir gods, who's endings were quite unsatisfying. Odin and Thor are not nearly as good of characters as Baldur. Side characters come and go, and big events happen very quickly. I do not know why, but the world felt so much more alive and huge in 2018, and that game was beautifully paced and had an incredibly satisfying ending. The combat in this also is not good, the enemies are extremely spongey, and often will kill you with no way of you predicting their attacks. I often rolled my eyes whenever i saw the 100th wave of enemies. Kratos is also extremely underpowered here, he dies so easily to enemies we know he should obliterate, but for some reason he has to hit a normal guy like 10 times with the blades of chaos to kill him. The music is also not as well utilised as the first game, I barely remember hearing it in this game. Also 2018 had far more wow moments, moments I revisit to this day because they were so awesome, I dont remember a single one in this game other than the first fight with Thor.

    Overall, while this is a pretty good game and has lots of content which I may finish in the future; its a major let-down for me as the 2018 game was basically a masterpiece. I wish I could say this game was better than the first and exceeded my expectations but unfortunately it was difficult to get through at many points. Nevertheless, I think this is a fitting end to Kratos' story but I would not be opposed to seeing him in a future game.    … Expand

    I reduce one point for: - I wished to see more mimir stories. - The game health bar was not reasonable. Most of the time you find yourself with a low health bar and start a war with a boss or mid-boss since the game does give enough health refill. Ragnarok improves on what was arguably the only significant flaw in the previous game - monster variety, especially mini bosses. It also improved on exploration - the world is now fully backtrackable (at least where collectibles are concerned so you can't miss anything). It's not grindy at all as some people say, maybe if you wanna try different builds so you want to upgrade the gear for it but not really to just 100% it. Game is fun and challenging albeit very easy to platinum (played on Give Me No Mercy). Companions are also more involved in the fights which is nice. Draupnir spear was a cool addition to Kratos' arsenal. But...

    Now for the negatives - I dunno why developers tend to put this in their games lately but it really grinds my gears - the voice line clues! (from your companions in this game). Like why? I get into a new puzzle area and companions starts spitting out clues before I can even have a proper look around. Annoying.
    Some collectibles were made very easy to spot (ravens and treasure maps locations).
    Few bugs mostly just companion getting stuck on a piece of environment when prompt to interact with a quest item. One bigger bug was when Freya just stopped doing anything when fighting Gná.
    What was probably the biggest letdown of this game was the final mission. It was a war against the whole Asgard and it felt just like any other mission. Most of the war stuff happened in the background if at all. Odin and Thor could also be a bit more difficult to beat.

    But the absolute worst part was the involvement of real life political agendas. That's never good.    … Expand

    Les 2 premières heures étaient délicates, on à donc un Kratos "rebooté" sans aucune compétences ou runes, juste les coups basiques, et donc les combats sont... fades, sans presque aucun intérêt et limite on les voit plus comme une sorte de pause malvenue dans un récit qui à eu de la peine aussi à me captiver au début, ce n'est qu'à la SPOIL que j'ai commencé à réellement jouer. Les combats s'améliorent au fur et à mesure de déverrouiller des compétences, mais une fois avoir le tour de tous ça, on retombe un peu dans l'ennui, sans compter avec cette couche de RPG sur tous les éléments qui n'amène qu'un désintérêt de ma part pour le nouveau loot, y'en à de trop... Passer 15 minutes à lire les passifs, les stats et les comparaisons pour finalement refaire tous ça car on à du nouveau loot au chapitre suivant, c'est chiaaaaaaaant

    Pour être plus précis sur la narration, quelques fois j'étais envouté entre les relations entre personnages, je voulais suivre absolument la relation Atreus-Kratos, mais ça Tyr(lol) tellement en longueur, à chaque fois qu'on pouvait avoir une révélation côté Kratos et Atreus, c'était coupé par un événement dans le jeu.
    Et j'ai ce sentiment que l'écriture est devenu plus "grand public", il y a trop de manque de sérieux en fait, on à pas cette sensation d'être à l'aube d'une grande guerre et du Ragnarok mais SURTOUT, il y a trop de facilité scénaristique : SPOIL , il y a même un moment où Kratos lui même dit que tout est "trop facile", comme si les scénaristes savaient eux-même que c'était cousu de fil blanc et qu'ils l'ont interpréter avec Kratos,
    Bien évidemment, quelques fois, c'est superbe :SPOIL c'est ce genre d'écriture cruel qui donne de la crédibilité à cette univers, le fait d'affronter des personnes aussi puissante qu'Odin et Thor doit mettre la pression aux joueurs sur le fait que tout tiens à un fil.

    Parlons côté ludique, le jeu utilise une formule connus des AAA narratifs, c'est efficace, mais ça ne surprend plus, faire de l'exploration avec un brin de causettes, faire une phase de combat, faire de la grimpette et parler, refaire un combat, faire une énigme bateau, cinématique et pouf, chapitre fini, maintenant on refait ça jusqu'à la fin, c'est vu et revu, ça commence à faire vieux tous ça en 2022.

    Les zones ouvertes : Alors niveau visuel c'est impeccable, la DA est diversifié et sublime, les graphismes sont très propre, c'est détaillé, parfois un peu trop car on ne sait plus ce qui est le décor et le chemin à traverser, mais bon tout ceci insuffle une vie, une personnalité à chaque zone ouvertes du jeu, parcourir ce monde fait réellement plaisir pour l'oeil, mais pour les mains...
    C'est très cloisonné, tout parait petit, on à l'impression d'être sur une autoroute avec des zones d'arrêt d'urgence pour y faire notre énigme ou notre combat qui ressemblent trait pour trait à ceux de la quête principale, et surtout, c'est exactement les même choses dans TOUTES LES ZONES, aucune prise de risques n'est faite, jamais le jeu vous récompensera de votre curiosité en vous proposant quelque chose de différent de l'habitude

    On nous propose aussi d'incarner Atreus parfois, alors c'est cool, ça change le gameplay, les relations avec les autres persos, bien qu'il rencontre tellement de personnages différents qu'on à jamais le temps de s'attacher à cette relation, mais les changements sont trop nombreux et trop brusque, on vient de s'emmerder à optimiser notre Kratos, prêt à tester nos nouveaux atouts et pouf ! T'incarne 2h Atreus, qui est bien moins intéressant que son père vu qu'il à 3x moins de compétences.

    J'ai pas assez de lignes pour finir, mais sachez que ce soit quêtes secondaires ou énigmes, c'est à chaque fois le même constat : c'est bien mais à chaque fois ça manque de qqch qui l'empêche d'être très bien voir excellent.

    GOW : Ragnarok se repose trop sur ses acquis de 2018, respecte le cahier des charges sans prendre de risque, sans faire trop d'effort légèrement révolutionné un domaine de sa formule, et c'est décevant car c'est l'une des plus grande licence de Sony.    … Expand

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]
