    Here comes another helping of slop from the rehashers at playstation. Pretty much doubles down on every bad mechanic from new god of war and goes a step further by bastardizing Norse mythology to the point of absurdity.

    Take one look at Thor and try not to laugh, same with Odin because the character designs are awful.     Awful graphics, awful controls, awful camera and bad theme. This is a pretty mediocre release in every way. Graphics are like welcome to five years ago. Were they blindfolded when making the camera? Main character is boring. Hopefully this is the last game in the series

    I always found the first one overrated and this is no exception this is not the God of war I loved when I was a kid however I would still say this is a good game is it a masterpiece ? No it's not all these 10 makes me wonder how much people can be blind on the flaws of this game

The interactive movie treats you like a stupid, in-capable-to-comprehend-basic-instructions fool, and will tell you the most blatantly obvious things like “Kratos, you’re on fire”, like yeah, thanks Atreus, I couldn’t tell.     Last game limited scope made sense for the story they were telling and a reboot. This one they said was basically the end of the Norse story in a single game, and it's called Ragnarok.     It feels like the developers were torn how to go. They want the story and characters to be more personal than the prior trilogy and it worked in the reboot due to the story scale being small. In this one though the talk about end of the world but still they want the personal side of the story. It feels like they are being pulled in different directions and didn't know how to get them both to be awesome. Also F Atreus and F playing as him.

    I dug my PS3 out of the attic to replay 2 and 3 after this game. Kratos was 2D and didn't say much, but nothing in Ragnarok was as cool as beating the **** out of Poseidon, after riding the back of a titan, then crushing his eyeballs, throwing him off the mountain causing massive flooding destruction. Why didn't they fight on the back of the snake riding around the whole world or something crazy. Nah lets fight in front of a lodge.    … Expand

    Underwhelming. I loved the first one and the main problem is ragnarok is basically the same as its predessor. Besides the cinematics and the new story, everything feels the same. The level design is outdated, combats are ok but turns to be boring. In fact nothing is new, this game looks like a dlc.

    It’s a shame that this is the standard for today’s triple A. It’s the same game as many others but with fancy graphics and mediocre gameplay and engagement. It’s unfair and misleading for people who wants a challenge and gameplay mechanics that doesn’t feel as an excuse to stick together different cutscenes. As a film is a 8/10, but they are calling it a game

    Mismo juego reciclado con gráficas más “bonitas” que lo que ya habíamos visto, si este es el camino que está tomando la industria deberíamos empezar a hacer presión, y lo de las ediciones “físicas” sin disco!!!! Pffff pésimo por parte de Sony!!

Too many bugs , great story and gameplay but the bugs are just killing my experience of the the game, one that I honestly cant get around is when after ragnarok im trying to go to Svartalfheim from any other realm but crates gets caught in what looks like a scene and I can t use any of the weapons, or even run, dying isn't a option and even restartibg to the previous checkpoint does not work.… Expand

    Linear. Nothing innovative. Worse story characters and fights compared to the first one. Drags on with melodrama and when you do get gameplay its mostly puzzles. Npcs give too many dialogue hints to the puzzles and the combat is repetitive.

    Go watch some gow3 gameplay with its musical score, blood and gore and compare this, you'll realize how utterly boring and tame ragnarok is. No blood splatter, blades feel weak, can't jump, music is stupid, enemy variety is minimal, even spartan "god of war" behaves like a gentleman, my grandfather used to be more fierce!!

    Great game but it ships incomplete. It's a single player game, I shouldn't have to download a day one patch. The version on the disk has progress ending, game breaking bugs. RIDICULOUS!!!!

    Amazing sequel. The game has improved every aspect that was before it. And they told a rather interesting story, without stretching it (the third part would definitely be superfluous here). And it seems that you get a perfect game, but there is one problem, because of which I give this rating. Where is the Ukrainian language? Why was the russian language added?     Pretty fun, a great story, but I could have just watched the cutscenes on youtube and walked away the same. The game plays like God of War 2018, with a few additions to the combat here and there. When I think about how much more fun I had playing (not watching) Elden Ring, GoW:R truthfully wasn't worth the $60 for me.

    The first few hours seems fine, afterward it gets worse and worse, too much useless story which should be in the side quest are in the main quest, this is a total waste of time, makes me only want to know the ending ASAP

Lo habeis puesto forzosamente porque SI existen interpretaciones de Angrboda ,de su madre y de su abuela. Esto es lo que ocurre cuando crees que un juego va a tener altas especativas y te encuentras con un juego sobrevalorado.Comprendo que las franquicias deben renovarse,pero esta no fue el caso para GOW ragnarok. A nivel de musica GOW 2018 es bastante superior. Todavia quedaban cosas pendientes en Grecia.Los personajes indican la solucionde los puzzles demasiado pronto.Como broche final no esta a la altura.… Expand

My biggest gripe with this game is how characters speak, behave and swear like the most normal, distinctly modern people, with their divinity and unique existence as gods being almost completely ignored. Immortal gods are made to deliver some of the strangest, most casual lines like walking into someone's home and saying "Nice place." or complaining about their "moms" and how typical they are. Words like yep, yeah, kinda, sorta, pretty are used just like in the modern day. Odin is just a mafia boss who yells at the dwarves "hey, it's me, your whole economy is speaking to you!", completely ruining the immersion into the game.

    Casual writing can have its place to break the tension or as comedic relief, but in Ragnarok the villains, main characters and side characters all engage in this kind of dialogue, making everything feel constantly comedic.

    The graphics are gorgeous, the combat remains the same as in the previous game, and it feels like a Marvel AAA casual movie, rather than a videoGAME. A game this focused on dialogue and story leaves ultimately little of value when the writing is given so much importance over the gameplay, and it fails this much to boot.    … Expand

    I've only managed to play this for a few hours, but the experience has been great. Although some things feel like a carbon copy from the last one, the little tweaks here and there completely refine a system that was almost perfect. Santa Monica Studio knows his craft.

    One of the best games I've played this year and will probably sweep the end of year game awards along with Elden Ring. The narrative is extremely well done and the performances are truly great from pretty much every person in the game. It's a great sequel and answers all the questions that were posed by the previous game. Last part of the game when Ragnarok starts he gives a speech to his group of avengers and felt really cringe, like most parts of the game. It's unfortunate that it's not like the old GOW and it's more a feel good **** movie. Now the positive, the fighting is good in this game and the visuels are ok. Now The bad part, the missions playing like Atreus was really Boring. The black gaint and other dude don't belong in this world it's not a 2022 Westworld city. Don't want all white people in a wakanda movie aswell. Breaks with the origin. GOW 2018 was more fun and less cringy parts, play that one but don't buy this game for 70 bucks. 4 out of 10 for me.

There is also the issue of the NPCs telling you the solutions to puzzles before you get the chance to even look around properly. it's infuriating to be given a puzzle and then a second later the NPC says, oh you should try and hit that over there. The UX design is ABSOLUTELY the number 1 reason this didn't win game of the year.

    Guys, when you release this for PC can you please sort out the UX design. Also, the menu system and the excessive stats and upgrades could do with being reworked. This game is so damn confusing in that department.    … Expand

    How does this game have an average 7.9?!

    Not only is it better than the first but it **** all over any Marvel or DC film in terms of storytelling, character development and cinematics. BUY THIS GAME IF YOU HAVEN’ T ALREADY !!!!

    Thor - just like Odin, big screen presence
    Sindri and Brok

    Cons:
    Too much backtracking over huge expanses/corridors for mindless collectibles and uninspired side quests
    Mimir - STFU (especially each time I collect those stupid "Pond" elements and during combat)
    Freya - STFU
    Atreus - STFU
    Angrboda - Annoying character
    Combat - feels floaty, no damage feedback (half the time I had no idea I was taking damage), feels spammy
    Story - being a completionist and doing my best to grind through all the collectibles made me lose interest in an already weak and uninspiring story. Just not invested enough in the story due to Mimir, Freya, Atreus all being absolutely annoying.
    Enemies - Annoying to fight against. Which ones? ALL OF THEM!!
    Useless map
    Cluttered UI/ menu system
    Stupid, irritating, irrelevant puzzles
    Annoying purple arrow bubble nonsense

    Overall, a supremely disappointing sequel which started out wow-ing me but by the end, ended up frustrating and annoying me beyond measure.

    Rarely do we see a sequel not only live upto its predecessor but exceed all levels, exploring 9 realms there is so much to see, so much lore, so much activities, all sorts of new enemies including dragons, berserker etc, enhanced gameplay, post ending content, its like i could play 100+ hours

    This is a type of game where if you're huge PC/XBOX/SWITCH fanboy/girl you need to put that away for a few weeks.... Go out and buy a PS5 along with this game and get ready to see SONY SANTA MONICA STUDIOS put all those other developers to shame.

    The bar has now been set very high for a AAA single player title done right, and now its up to ROCKSTAR or maybe NAUGHTY DOG to come try and top this game but I don't see it happening anytime soon.    … Expand

    Why would you change the mechanics that were so fun the first time. Enemies will be the same because you are in the same places for a good amount of it. That is like saying Arkham City is bad because it is the same but in a bigger area.

Кроме графики похвалить не за что, а свои бесконечные ребусы, которые стали основным геймплеем игры сразу после бесконечной диалоговой милодраммы, можете затолкать себе в задницу и там же потерять.     Santa Monica ha desarrollado un videojuego reciclando gran parte de su éxito de 2018 con lo que encuentro que es el juego más sobrevalorado del año. Gráficos claramente intergeneracionales y argumento regulero con personsjes insoportables como Atreus. Todo un bluf.

    A technical marvel undermined by rigid and uninspired gameplay, Netlfix-tier writing, and an over-earnest story which is far too introspective for its own good. I can't say that I particularly enjoyed playing it, to be honest; it was oddly boring, which is perhaps the most damning indictment of a game about gods killing each other I could offer.

Now we can move on to the review. As always I would like to start with the mechanics but there is almost nothing new in the game. The gameplay in the previous game was copied in the same way, just like the Assassin's Creed games, but there is a bad situation. In the previous God of War game, the fighting mechanics were sedate, although not very good. In the Ragnarok game, a faster gameplay was desired, but all the hitting feeling in the game was removed. There are only two new weapons in the game and its contribution to gameplay is just as minimal as any other weapon. Only Atreus gameplay remains, which is the part that saves this infamous game a little bit. Atreus has completely unique gameplay, I wish the whole game was played with atreus, it would at least be a mediocre game. Let's move on to the designs. There is not much innovation in the level designs, it does not have anything that will affect the gameplay or surprise you. As for the mission designs, there are side missions in the game, they are directly related to the story, but you know that the place of the story in video games is not important, the gameplay in the missions remains and there is no innovation. Different creatures and different bosses, but they don't add anything to the gameplay. We have come to the end of the review and Ragnarok is not a good game at all, unfortunately. Elden ring was the biggest debacle of this year, Ragnarok was the biggest disgrace of this year. The rating of the game is 35/100… Expand

    I enjoyed GOW 2018 but had some issues with it. There wasn't enough enemy or environmental variety and although the character writing was insanely good the overall story wasn't that interesting. Ragnarok fixed all of that. The journey spans a much wider range of places, there are a ton of cool enemies and bosses and the story is unpredictable. I was pleasantly surprised by this game. These encounters are very lengthy and do not drop enough health restoration crystals, encounters last upwards of ten minutes and you may only see a few max.

    The game also features backtracking very heavily, in both the story and the sidequests.. lazy and shortcuty imo.

    Axe weapon doesn't feel fun to play, very clunky and slow in terms of combat mechanics when you compare it to the pacing and speed of the bosses and enemy attacks.

    Story was great up until the final chapter, no spoilers so i won't go further but it felt like the writers ran out of time so they tried to wrap it up very quickly.

    Game of the year.... sure why not, it has the qualities of it compared to other titles released in 2022, but it's by no means perfect.

    The game could have been better, if they took the time to do proper QA .    … Expand

You have some more smooth moments that let you pause. You get puzzles and maybe 90% you can figure by observation. You get some powers gradually, so you have to revisit some areas to complete side quests with newGOW: Ragnarok is a perfect game. The story is rich and quite emotional. The combat is refined from the last entry and involve 3 other characters. Great voice overs, great music. You have some more smooth moments that let you pause. You get puzzles and maybe 90% you can figure by observation. You get some powers gradually, so you have to revisit some areas to complete side quests with new paths opening. Maybe I wasn't a fan of the night/day system, but that was me. The level designs are amazing. I give it 100%. In terms of gaming experience, this is a perfect game. But while I was expecting a righteous hack'n'slash paired with a gripping narrative similar to the 2016 reboot, I was unprepared for one of the most powerful and resonant meditations on grief, parenthood, and the true toll of violence, of our time. This is not just a phenomenal game, but one of the best stories I've ever experienced.

    EDIT: Bumping the score down due to the awful endgame. I can't even fathom how horribly the Muspelheim Trials are designed, requiring repeating trials ad nauseum to derive specific rune combinations (the game does not explain this at all, btw. I had to look it up online and scroll through multiple confused Reddit threads. Which execs moronic nephew designed this?)    … Expand

    Great action good attack Modes.

    RAGNAROK.

    Next time when you make a game you start from the beginning.

    The characters needs to move slow before reaching the highest level of Speed moves in attacks.

    But anyway excellent work.

    If you played the 2018 GOW, you really don’t need to play this one. It’s not a bad game, it’s just that there is little new. I wanted to get into it but just couldn’t as I already played - and loved - it 4 years ago.

    Very well polished and challenging as always. I'm living the story telling and the way in which it is being told. Playing different characters is nice as they all play a bit different. I'm still working my way through it on hard and it's putting up a fight for sure. the graphics are amazing for the most part.

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

    Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.
