FF16 desires to be the best in the series however it does fall short but doesn't mean it's not a great FF game because it is. I hold dear to this franchise since FF6 when I first played any FF game when I was a kid. Loved the franchise ever since and that will never change. FF16 has improved what FF15 lacked in even though I feel FF15 did somethings better in my opinion. But that said FF16FF16 desires to be the best in the series however it does fall short but doesn't mean it's not a great FF game because it is. I hold dear to this franchise since FF6 when I first played any FF game when I was a kid. Loved the franchise ever since and that will never change. FF16 has improved what FF15 lacked in even though I feel FF15 did somethings better in my opinion. But that said FF16 is a step up and when I say this is by story, combat, and characters and my word the soundtrack is god tier possibly the best ost in a FF game it deserves a Grammy nomination for how gorgeous the soundtrack is. Voice acting is well done but a few hit and misses. FF16 is a game that has influences of God of War, DMC and Game of Thrones and a few others. It blends well to the overall arc and FF16 has the most appropriate lore menu to know the world and set of characters and environments. You can switch different types of abilities that you get as you progress in the game to do heavy combo attacks. You can make the game easier for you if you put necklaces like extra Gil, extra exp or successful dodging. I highly recommend you don't but if you find yourself struggling then by all means. The soundtrack is a masterpiece and it defines what a jrpgs are about! Any jrpg fans knows when you hear Latin chants and orchestra music you know stuff is gonna be epic. Characters are all great in their own way. But some don't get enough screen time and it's hard to care for them. Boss fights are epic, poetic it vastly the best part in the game. Now the bad.. technical issues. FF16 was never supposed to get a day one patch but was not the case however the patch didn't do nothing to fix the issues regarding the frames in performance mode and I mean it drops all over and that's not good especially when it was never supposed to get one til later after release. Hopefully the next patch fixes this issue. Side-Quests..well they are okay some are rewarding and some are just bland. Motion blur is terrible.

From my experiences with FF16 with 20 hours playtime I can say it's a masterpiece in it's own way with a few minor issue that needs to be fixed asap. Other how great the story is, this not an open world but a liner road with semi open fields and valleys. Party is two or three depending on who is with you. If you need healing your K-9 will heal you if you ran out of potions. Crafting is a basic as it can get if you have the materials then your all good. The game does have a training grounds to test out your new abilities and there is an arcade mode you try out to get high scores in previous locations and play the bosses again if you like.

My final score for FF16 is a 10, however this doesn't mean it's a perfect 10. I have debated if I should give it a 9 but if you fix the issues on a technical side it deserves a 10. FF16 bares out to be the best along side FF10 and 7 og.

I like the new mature theme of the story but the combat sucks and the animations/effects are way too exaggerated and flashy all over the screen. The combat system resolves itself with a continuous rotation between eikons to spam the moves having coldowns with no need for tactics or reasoning, all for the purpose of staggering the opponent over and over again to do some damage.

They probably had not named it Final Fantasy would not have received so much criticism sometimes even gratuitous

The unique focus of this game series They maintain their standards well. Both the story that is heavy and full Both are profound both dark drama and happy hope The background music is excellent, the price is reasonable, the fighting scenes are fun and exciting. The cutscenes also played background music that fit the story.

There may be some drawbacks. For example, the frame rate will drop slightly in some cutscenes. or gameplay that is not extreme to one side may not be liked by fans extreme from both the turn-based and action sides.

I personally believe this game has the ability to be GOTY, but it would be difficult. Because this year's competitors look very strong, for best score and music, I think this game must be received for sure XD.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have been looking forward to this game since it was announced. I hoped it would be 2023 game of the year. I still think it deserves GOTY and I loved my experience, especially with the boss battles, combat, and characters. However, there were some unexpected low lights, mainly about story (unexpectedly) and game systems (especially crafting).

it is a game that was built "in scope" and on time. Many of my wishes are for systems which could've likely been added with infinite time and resources. But game companies don't have those, so I can appreciate that. However, I did not expect to be disappointed by the story in the way I was, so that is really unfortunate. Still it has one of the best game stories I've played in recent memory and I really applaud it for that! I want other game devs to take the story in this game as inspiration; I just had maybe unfair levels of expectation for the story which I feel did not totally play out.

Voice Acting - 10/10, honestly, I'd say 11/10. IMO there has never been better voice acting in a video game, period. Every actor gave themselves to their role, you could feel their pain, happiness, sadness, hope.

Music - 10/10, There were no misses for me on the music. Every track was beautiful, emotional, fitting! The music was gorgeous. Soken NAILED it, you can feel his and his team's passion and talent.

Eikon/Boss Battles - 10/10, The spectacle of these battles is something I've always dreamed of in video games. It's like dreams coming to life. Beautiful, immersive, exciting. Every Eikon battle, I felt delighted and a little anxious. Every single one kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was next! I LOVED these, I could never wait for the next one, what a treat!

Characters - 10/10, Everyone is so well realized, even the most basic NPC in the Hideaway has something to share about themselves with Clive. The characters are deep, relatable, fun to interact with, interesting to learn about. I also think the character based side-quests are really effective.

Combat 9/10 - The combat REALLY worked for me. As a person who loves FF eikons, enjoys action combat, but also enjoys simple, easy to understand systems, this combat system felt satisfying and fun. I have never experimented more with different builds mid-playthrough in a game. Normally I to find the most efficient way to engage with combat systems and don't experiment much, but this one encouraged me to try new abilities and I really enjoyed that! The only thing I wish is we could've used our ability points to customize the companion characters' fighting styles.

Side Quests - 8/10, I think some will say there were too many side quests, but I'm not sure about that. I think there was a good amount. The dev team said they wouldn't just "make you kill 5 wolves for no reason" and they definitely delivered on that. Every side quest had a reason and they were effective for world building. I would've preferred more focus on the main characters in the side quests rather than side NPCs like Quintin, Martha, and L'ubor. Side Quests to help you learn more about Barnabas or Ultima for example could've helped and I didn't really care for those 3 hub characters.

Game Systems - 7/10, This 7 sadly pains me, because Active Time Lore is a huge for me, I think every story game should have this. I read every entry multiple times. To the low lights: a massive low light for the game is crafting. It's really disappointing. As a person who loves to explore and see every inch of the map, at first I was excited that there were so many items to also collect. But there is no purpose for the literal 1000 bloody hides you will collect, despite helping Mid make a workshop. I was so excited, maybe we can use the Workshop to do projects for the hideaway? But no. The game really needs some use for all the crafting items you are given. The forge is ok, but all of the weapons are just straight upgrades. I wish there were some options, even if basic "make this one to do more will damage", or "make this one to gain more LB charge", IDK something unique. it was just +stats each time. I really think there was a missed opportunity to use the crafting items. Either make gear for your party members or make cosmetic items for the hideaway, something, anything!

Story - 7/10, it's an epic FF tale and every aspect of the story related to the Eikons was compelling. Demo story - 10/10. Game story through Bahamut - 10/10. After, it starts falling to 6/10. I hated Barnabas and Ultima and they never paid off as villains for me. it is hard to relate to either of them. I had higher expectations for the villains as a CBU3 fan. I left the game adoring Clive, Jill, Joshua, Torgal and Dion. I did every side quest, and upon doing that and heading for Origin, I had real hope that we could give these characters peace. To end on tragic ambiguity was just gut wrenching. Did you have to? It was such painful ending that it did sour the journey for me a little.

It's highly debated back and forth, but God of Dragon Ball May Cry is a pretty decent game for what it is. I do tend to agree with the majority though - it's far more God of War/Devil May Cry game with a Final Fantasy skin than a true "Final Fantasy" game.

The world is gorgeous and very detailed. However, it's also very empty. They attempted to fix the major complaint of FF13 where the majority of the maps were corridors, but failed to fill them with anything substantial. Zones are wide open spaces with a few patches of monsters here and there and 1-2 towns, which are also mostly empty. Quite honestly, the game really could've benefited if they would've make it a seamless world instead of broken into chunks.

Combat is primarily where the game is compared to GoW/DMC, and rightfully so. Combat encounters either button mashing or QTE for major fights. For standard enemies... well it's basically the same still. There are a total of 38 abilities (no counting combat basic skills) and you can assign a total of 9 active at a time. Optimally, you'll end up choosing a mix that is maximizing stagger and pure damage. Unforunately, this makes the majority of skills "useless" in comparison. I didn't even bother testing/using the majority of the available skills once I found a combination that pretty much erased even elite enemies.

The main story is okay. It's nothing super special, and nothing really felt unique. Besides for the "combat skins" and NPCs, this is really the only thing that was "Final Fantasy"esque, and it was unimpressive overall.

Side quests get extremely tedious and boring very quickly, and that's amazing since you don't get the majority of them until towards the end of the game. And at that point, almost every quest is 3 minute or longer dialog, that you can thankfully skip through. At the start of the game, I was all in for sitting through the side stories. After hitting the end point of the game where they dump 15 side quests at once, it got to the point I just started skipping through the dialog for anyone that wasn't a "main" character.

Crafting/gear progression is a complete joke. The option to craft progession gear (green) is pointless. Once you start rolling through the story and side quests, the materials for your next major weapons (blue quality+) are pretty much literally thrown at you. By the time you unlock a crafting recipe, you either already aquired all the materials or will be getting them very shortly after. They may as well just scrapped this entire system and given out the gear upgrades directly.

Overall, the game is very pretty, and feels like the majority of development went into doing only that. Everything that makes a RPG feel like "Final Fantasy" felt like it was tacked on, or missing entirely, just so the IP can be in the title. They could've completely removed all the FF IP and it would be solid on it's own. Even FF15 felt more like a "Final Fantasy" game than this did. But again, even though this is most definitely "God of Dragon Ball May Cry", it was a solid game to play through.

Good game, not genre-defining or something like a masterpiece. It's a solid game but a departure from RPG with inventory & party management that defined the FF series. I had a good time but felt bored from some tiresome fetch side quest.

I am a long time FF fan and I played many other action, rpgs, and action-rpg games. FFXVI is a good game but it has many core fundamental flaws that prevented me from giving it a higher score. I already wrote this before but got the 403 error, thanks metacritic, I apologize if you're reading this twice.

    Flaws Include.

    1. Easy difficulty with little to no challenge even on action mode. The mobs of enemies are just punching bags that barely do anything. They don't dodge or block and barely attack, some have a guard but that's easily circumvented. The enemy variety is small, you fight the same scorpions on different locations and every nation has a big guy with a big hammer or axe. The combat gameplay is amazing but there really is no incentive to make the best combos or to improve on them like in the game this was inspired by, DMC.

    2. Little to no itemization. You upgrade your sword very easily, and it's always a minor/flat increase like +5 damage/stagger. All the accessories mostly decease cooldown or increase damage of eickon ability, the only cool accessory is the berserker ring which actually does something. Your belt and wrist guard are no different to your sword, it's all defense and vitality increase. The only thing you can customize are your eickon ability and you can only really upgrade them once to improve them. The other upgrade is just to move it to another slot. Every battle gives you a lot of materials to upgrade or craft. It's very easy to get your best in slot gear, no thinking required.

    3. No RPG system. There are no buffs or debuffs in this game. Get hit with bad breath? Well it only does damage. No poison, haste, stop, paralyses, doom, etc. No elemental wheel. No way to strategize and exploit enemy weakness. All you do is just wail on them with your sword until stagger breaks, use limit break, hit them with all of your abilities, rinse and repeat.

    4. Too many side quests. At first the game starts you with only 2 or 3 in the early game which is fine but then amps up the frequency. Before the final boss I had more than 10 side quests that popped up. This really ruined the pacing. Near the end it felt like an MMO and trust me I played quite a few, you start by picking everything up at once, skip dialogue/cutscene, go here, kill that, collect this, go back to npc, accept reward. And some side quests felt meaningless, they could've been taken out and some MSQuest could've been sidequests.

    5. Quick time events are meaningless. The QTE are cool but it pauses the game for like 5 or 6 seconds just to press one button. There is no skill required and it just ruins the flow of battle. Kingdom Hearts II and older God of War games did it better. Those scenes would be better if it didn't have them so I could grab some snacks and enjoy the awesome Kaiju battles instead.

    6. No reason to explore map. Only things worth finding are the notorious marks or eickon trials. Only chest in the world just give you materials you already have or could just buy from an npc.

There are smaller nick picks I have like your chocobo is just faster walking, no chocobo racing or treasure hunts like in FF9. No mini games to change up gameplay or just to relax like prior entries. Party members don't show up in side quests or respond in any way like in Mass Effect.

Don't get me wrong, FFXVI is a good game. I love the story, combat, characters, dialogue, eickon battles and set pieces. But I was so disappointment by it that I was not having fun halfway through the game. I had to force myself to get to the end, it felt like a chore. I was gonna give it a lower score but Soken's music is magnificent like always. I will definitely get the album when it comes out. Anyways, thank you for reading.

I think the side quests could be more exciting. Sometimes, like 2 out of 10, you just need to fetch or deliver something. I thought about skipping them, but don't do that. Some quests add a lot to the story.

You’re watching them play and it looks amazing. You see them do so much sick stuff and want nothing more than to have a turn on it yourself. You ask them if you can have a go, and they reluctantly say yes. You walk down a corridor for a minute, and then they snatch the controller back from you and you have to watch while some amazing stuff takes place. Eventually they give you the controller again, and let you run through an empty albeit pretty field where there are a few enemies that amount to nothing but brainless punching bags. That gives you enough time to know that the combat seems super fun with a lot of depth to it if you choose to deep dive into the combo system. But before you can do much else the controller is yanked away again by your friend.
This is, I think the best of describing Final Fantasy 16. A game that is itself almost desperate to not let you play it. You’ve likely already heard that the combat is great and it certainly is. But the pointless punching back enemies that litter the games empty open area zones aren’t worth engaging with, and that only leaves the bigger fights and boss encounters in the games more linear sections. These can be great, but last about 5 minutes, before wresting control from you to subject you to another 30 minutes of its confusing mess of a melodrama. This is coming from someone who likes melodrama mind you, and I found the demo a great setup for a potentially intriguing albeit simple medieval fantasy revenge story. Within about 10 minutes of playtime outside of what the demo offered, a pattern of jumping from one thing to the next with careless abandon would be how this game attempted to tell its story. At time of writing this I’m about 80% done the story. It’s very clear at this point that they almost immediately abandon any attempt of telling a simple but well put together story, and jumped instead headfirst into something else entirely. It’s got to the point where I just feel myself going comatose whenever some of the atrocious voice work start blathering on; expositing things that should have been either setup earlier to lend themselves to a more cohesive narrative, or explained dynamically as you play. Instead the methodology is to just have you spend 20 minutes after a main quest concludes running around speaking the boring NPC after boring NPC and having the fill in the many blanks. I had a feeling that I would likely struggle to finish the game when I was first hit with such marvellous quest design as:
Talk to NPC who wants you to talk to three other NPCs. One of the three instructs you to go and find someone in a location you’ve visited dozens of times already. Go there, talk to NPC. “Sorry person you need isn’t here, go here instead”. Find other NPC, talk, quest complete.

It’s ironic that they said they used the first season of Game of Thrones as thematic inspiration for the game, because the way they tell the story in this game feels as though you get to watch the first episode of the first season, then they skip you all the way to season five and just occasional stop the game dead in its tracks to give you a 30 minute lore recap on key events that you just don’t get to take part in but are seemingly crucial to the story. The cutscenes are of course superbly well done. But so much of the exposition is delivered not through the actual cutscenes but through these stiff and lifeless conversations that aren’t animated in the slightest. Character says line, long pause, character responds, long pause. Rinse and repeat.

Though the game isn’t open world, the game is still too open world; a symptom of this death grip the game has on the notion of needing to be perceived as an RPG.
The zones that you can explore feel akin in scope to something like a Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time. Only difference being that in Ocarina of Time the Field serves as an access point to all the key areas of the game. The zones in FF16 serve no purpose other than prolonging your access to the linear segments that are actually fun. Once you’ve run through them once, they serve no function other than the occasional side quest that may pop up there, and trust me when I say side quests in this game are the last thing you want to waste your time on.

Many times over the team said that this game was an action RPG. There is no RPG in here. If they’d just accepted that maybe they wanted to make an action game that would take you at most 20hrs to clear that was all linear with well designed levels and great combat, I think it could work. Unfortunately the need to maintain the series pedigree or not stray too far from the known path renders the game a mess, a pretty one with some fun to be had of course, but a mess nonetheless.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game, solid story with a few drawbacks.

As a long time final fantasy fan I will admit that I wasn't looking forward to the action oriented combat system shown in early trailers however, after having played the demo my opinion was quickly changed and I was excited to jump into the game on launch day.

Having played roughly 45-50hrs and completing the main quest I would say don’t go into this game with the expectation that this is an rpg. FF16 is a story driven action game with little exploration and very little in the way of loot, crafting and gear. The combat can be engaging but is overall very limited when it comes to your basic attacks. Combat generally consists of hacking and slashing, weaving magic, lunging, dodgeing, priming your weapon for a heavy attack and commanding Torgal. Most basic abilities can be unlocked in the first few hours and doesn’t really deviate as you progress. You will however, obtain and have access to eikon abilities which can change up the pace and provide some variety to combat.

Unfortunately in the way of enemies you wont find much variety (looking at you big enemy with giant axe) and you will be engaging with many of the enemies in the same way. The mobs are slow and will generally walk circles around you attacking ever so often making for quick work. Boss fights and mini boss fights are attack> dodge>eikon ability>dodge>attack… until they stagger and are eventually defeated. You do get access to a limit break which outputs more damage but it doesn’t add much to the gameplay. Overall the combat is lacking diversity and could have used move variety. In saying that, it is still enjoyable and creating combos is stylish and fun.

The game lacks a core party and Clive is essentially the only character you will be playing as, characters such as Jill will come and go as non-playable characters in your party to join you on your adventures. I personally would have liked some control over the party, similar to the commands that you can give Torgal as well as gear and accessories for the companions.

Characters in the game are interesting and mostly fleshed out save a few which appear after a time skip. Clive is a great character and the VA did an amazing job, the same can be said for most VA’s in the game. The graphics are phenomenal and the environments are spectacular with the exception of side quest npc’s. Performance does take a hit as a result of the games fidelity and I would recommend the graphics mode for fps consistency.

The story is very interesting but prepare to sit through hours of cutscenes. This wasn’t an issues for me personally as I found them enjoyable and engaging. The pacing however, can be very off at times. You will find yourself often entering a new town only to have to find a way to get past a gate and into the next area. By often I mean always. You will always need to find a friend of Cid’s, you will always need to get some kind of crest from them, you will always need to talk to npcs around town and you will always need to kill a few enemies for them. These side quests are obvious padding and in my opinion should have been left outside of the main story. It is very jarring to have just defeated a walking nuke only to run errands for a respected member of a small town.

Overall its a solid game with a lot to offer including some GOW3 level boss fights so if spectacle is something you enjoy I couldn't recommend this game more. With all my criticisms I still enjoyed the game thoroughly and recommend anyone it looking for a solid action game.

World/World map is great, I won't put any spoilers here but for some people it's like corridor style, I understand that point of view however this one much better than vacant world map like final fantasy XV to be honest, I played a lot of FF games and I love world map based like FF VI, FF VII, FF VIII, FF IX, but FF XVI style also really great.

To compare with FF XVI WAYYYY MUCH BETTER THAN FF XII to be honest..

For some FF "Fans" who put low score I believe whatever SE try to do you will always give 0 because they never tired to complaints, futuristic world (we don't need this futuristic **** it's not FF), Turn based RPG (Turn based is outdated, give us more freedom and actions), more actions (this things is crap we want turn based RPG), World map like FF XV (bloody vacant world, why you give us crap like this), wide area to explore but not world map (bloody hell this one is corridor what are you doing developers?)

In the end haters gonna hate.

If you own a PS5, this is truly a must play. From graphical fidelity, to epic large scale battles, to the excellent soundtrack, and to a surprisingly gripping story, this is the first game on PS5 that truly feels like it takes advantage and is worthy of the hardware that it runs on.

Not even done with the game and I know this will be my GOTY. Absolutely phenomenal in all ways and it makes me care about everyone, even the side characters. I’ve done every side quest that pops up just to stay in the world a little bit longer.

I cannot believe the amount of times I was captivated by the story or beauty of this game during my playthrough. The combat is rewarding and satisfying and the story was great.

I created a metacritic account to say this. If you click on on the profiles of the idiots review bombing this as 0, you'll see that they are the same people that rated 10 on Diablo IV. The game that most people are 1 shotting every mob and elite, the game that I can solo every boss and stand still while press 1 singular button. Yep, same people.

The game that most people are 1 shotting every mob and elite, the game that I can solo every boss and stand still while press 1 singular button. Yep, same people.

Now for the real review. For people complaining about how this is "not Final Fantasy" you completely missed the point of a Final Fantasy game. The first Final Fantasy was created as a last hoorah from the developers as they were going bust, hence the name Final Fantasy. They wanted to tell a story. Final Fantasy has ALWAYS been about the story. I've played every FF except for 3 and 11, let's be real here, the combat was always easy, the hardest fights were always side quests/optional bosses. Sephiroth was a compelling enemy not because he was difficult, but because of his strength and purpose. Kefka was scary not because he was hard to beat but because he wanted to watch the world burn. FFX was memorable because of Tidus's laugh and the sad ending along with the main theme To Zanarkand. When has it ever been about "the combat"? People complaining about combat in FFXVI are simply nostalgic boomers that don't understand Final Fantasy has always been about the story.

What makes a great Final Fantasy game has always been these elements; great story, compelling characters, epic music often with orchestra arrangements and cutscene CGI ahead of it's time.

Yet, here I see the same people crying about what makes a Final Fantasy game great.

Saying the combat is repetitive is simply because you're bad. You have 6 elements with about 4 skills each, that's enough combination for variety. If you think mobs have too much HP that's because you're bad. I've seen streamers at lvl 43 deal 50k stagger damage crying about how much HP enemies and have their audience reiterate that sentiment. I've also seen streamers deal up to 150k stagger dmg and myself at 130k at lvl 40+ My only complaint would be the enemies could be hitting harder in base game

Another complaint would be that some of the side quests are too length and irrelevant or poorly placed which disrupted the pacing towards the end.

Final Fantasy reinvents itself with a thrilling combat system on par with the best-in-class of the Character Action and Action RPG genre while telling a wonderfully-written, dark, mature, and engaging high-fantasy story. The story blends the realness, grittiness, and darkness you’d expect from IPs like the Witcher 3 and perhaps more aptly, Game of Thrones. This only serves, through contrast, to make more profound the themes that you’d expect from a Final Fantasy that are very present in this iteration of the series: the goodness of humanity and the importance of bonds with others. The script was written in English first which avoids some of the awkwardness caused by translation that is common to the genre, and is delivered through a strong cast of central characters with incredible voice acting. Final Fantasy XVI also shines with its boss designs, which surpass just about every other game I’ve played, and are accompanied by one of the best soundtracks in gaming history.

Where it’s a bit rougher on the edges is in its dated side-quest design system, lack of RPG elements, and some pacing issues in between major story beats. While the side-quest design is superior to many modern RPGs, some of the quests feel less consequential and put-together than quests from other modern masterpieces like the Witcher 3. The lack of RPG elements like powerful gear to find out in the world provide little incentive to explore Valisthea outside of sidequests and hunts. Finally, while Final Fantasy XVI has some of the highest points in gaming during its main campaign, the game will transition into calmer moments in the story that it uses for world and character building. While this is welcome after such intense missions, the execution could be a little bit better, as some of the main quests during these points in the story feel mundane. These calmer story beats also often feature lower-production cutscenes which feel a little disjointed compared to the extremely high-octane missions that feature full motion capture cutscenes at a very high production value.

No game is perfect, and if it were any other game, the rough edges present in Final Fantasy XVI would warrant docking a point. However, Final Fantasy XVI’s light shines so brightly during its best moments that I can’t consider this game anything but a masterpiece. The high-points in this game surpass every game I’ve played that I would give the same rating to such as God of War, the Last of Us, and the Witcher 3. This allows for some forgiveness for the rougher edges. As an avid Final Fantasy fan who has played every mainline Final Fantasy including FFXIV 1.0, I believe that that this game is the best in the series. It has reinvigorated one of the most storied franchises in gaming history and hopefully ushers in a new age of mature Final Fantasy games that still captures the spirit of the franchise.

    Pros:
    +Incredible combat system
    +Excellent writing
+Excellent characters with an amazing voice cast
+Unparalleled boss design that surpasses every other game I’ve played
    +Heart wrenching, engaging, beautiful story
+A return to Final Fantasy roots
+One of the best soundtracks in a franchise known for incredible music and frequently wins “best soundtrack of the year” awards

    Cons:
    -Limited RPG elements
-Limited reasons to explore outside of side-quests
-Side-quests aren't as good as a few other top story-driven games like the Witcher 3 or God of War
-Some of the main quests that are meant to serve as calmer world and character building moments after extremely high-octane missions feel a little like filler and disjointed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We all there allot of haters of the game because ATB. But i thunk they need to grow up a pare and look beyond that! I for instant grow up with ff6, chrono trigger and other ATB games. But mine consern and mostely important one is the story and the story is great! The dark lore the loses the grief and hatered of characters in the story is well done. The first time also on lipsynce on the english adiaunce. Keep in mind the game is no near perfect and no game is. But anough talk about ff16 haters. This game is really good because the combat allways put me on the edge of my seat. The party IA is good because when you do damage they do also allot of damage aslong you do allot of damage. I kill 3 mobs they killed 2 of the others the same time on the battlefield. Graphics is great even the motion blurr is hard to delete. Except for 2d games. Music is great composed by Soken and i can see that made the game with there heart and soul. Remember the eikonic battles are for more fun then it is in the normal battles. A nice twist now and then. The weird part i dont understand about the ff16 haters that i dont get is this they didnt complain about ff7 that is not a ff because of the crystals. There is none in ff7 but the lifestream. My take in ff games is the story and that is my highest priority in ff games with the iconnic beast like moogle chocobo etc...
We just need to look beyond the scale of it time in gaming and not looking the past. Who knows maybe the next installment will be ATB again.

También me ha parecido que es algo fácil ;( aún quitando los anillos, pero ya veremos en el NW+.

Final Fantasy XVI is an excellent game in every way. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry. This is a solid RPG/action game. Some elements of the game are unusual and fresh for single-player parts of the Final Fantasy series, but some are too dull and rudimentary.

New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
