    With the release of FFXVI, 2023 is officially one of the best years in video game history and that's only first half of the year, there's entire other half of amazingness yet to come. Would have never expected gaming to get good again. Huge Thank You! to entire team who worked on FFXVI, incredible work.

    I think this is one of the best Final Fantasy games out there right now. Top 3 easily for me. The heart of the game is the history itself. Awesome characters, plot and action sequences. Awesome music. God the music...
    The only thing that could do better was the ítems that you can use and grow, there is no much you can do to improve your gear, there isn't so many options.

    From the graphics, the music, and the voice acting, this is the best FF game I've ever played. The combat system is my new favorite for RPG games and I hope they keep it for future FF games. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, so I'll just say if you're a fan of Final Fantasy, do yourself a massive favor and play this game.

    Adorei o combate, sinto que é uma boa evolução para a franquia, a história é ótima e a trilha sonora uma das melhores do ano, o tom adulto da trama e a crueza com que os assuntos são tratados é muito bom, os combates dos Eikons são espetaculares, Clive se tornou um dos melhores protagonistas que a franquia já teve!

    Story was really good (it had minor unexplained things and sometimes emotions doesnt felt realistic but overall was really good) Main villain wasnt bad but i like side villains more.
    And i think Jill and Clive's relationship should be discovered more
    Gameplay really good u can carry 3 eikons same time and use 3 skills per eikon 2 special and 1 circle button skill.     If you master one skill u can use that skill on another eikons slot.
    Magic doesnt deal so much damage in game (not inlucing eikons magic) i mostly used in combos or for flying enemies also charged vers kinda deals ok damage.
    Limit isnt special attack in this game, its kinda like dmc devil form.

    Eikons fights are epic not button spam(sometimes)

    Side quests was balanced between goods and errands. Some sidequest gives u really good info about side characters or lore , some other gives upgrades and some others are just errands.

    It has hunt missions like ff15 it was one of best things in ff15.

    U can learn terms or see character lore by talking loresman in game it really helps and it fsr better than watching video or searching on google.
    Also u can learn things about nations, map and events timeline by talking vivian.
    It has dog assisting and chocobo to ride.(chocobo unlocks after side quest)

    Game isnt open world but kinda like open world. All map isnt connected but cities in a region connected. Ig its good thing cus u dont have to walk all day in map , u have many location to fast travel
    World desing is ok it doesnt have smth epic or bad , it has corridor like part not good but overall ok imo.

    Game isnt hard also if you use auto dodge or item that makes time slow to dodge it makes game so easy.

    Without using them its not that easy but not hard too.
    Game has eikon skill time challenges they are hard to find in map but not that hard to beat i beat all 1st try.

    Games doesnt run at 60fps on performance mode its like 45 50 mostly but sometimes drops in 1 or 2 cities also it drops when so much explosion happens.    … Expand

    First off I am no ff fanboy, as the only titles i like from this series are 6,7,8,9,and 12, though none of which were life changing, and the rest I just can’t stand either because it is too dated or just terrible design and implementation. BUT! I have reached the halfway point after 50 hrs, and thus far it has already become my favourite game of all time. It is dark, brutal, and visceral in design and story and it reaches the highest highs often, and keeps going higher. The story is such that it is as yoshi p described - a rollercoaster - and it goes from incredible cinematic experiences to extremely calm and low key and back again, which only serves to make the epic stuff hit harder. I won’t say anything else about the story but it is gripping and lacking nothing. The music and visuals have set a new bar for games to strive for, the gameplay is exactly what the series needed and has not only revived ff but also drawn in a huge number of new fans, the boss fights are incredible and the vibes are excellent. If you buy one game this year amongst the other amazing titles, it should be this one. **** totk and starfield, they can’t touch this once in a lifetime experience. Enjoy!… Expand

    I see these kinds of comments all the time in different forums and sites- "Final fantasy is dead and hasn't been good since "insert any year before 2002" blah blah blah". Yet, instead of just not caring (as they claim), those are the same people who constantly hate on new FF games and same people who review bomb them. They review bombed FF 7 Remake and they do the exact same thing withI see these kinds of comments all the time in different forums and sites- "Final fantasy is dead and hasn't been good since "insert any year before 2002" blah blah blah".     Things I like: The central protagonist is down to earth and relatable. The combat is fast paced, engaging, and almost never boring. The Eikonic battles feel like my very beloved kaiju fights. It’s a visually stunning presentation with a world that feels real and lived in. The voice acting is excellent with a lot of emotional high points that don’t feel forced or cringey. Things I don’t like: While it doesn’t bother me as much as others the lack of diversity is still an issue but it doesn’t ruin the game. Diversity is good as long as you’re not doing so because you’re just trying to check off all the boxes. The side quests can be a mixed bag with some being kind of dull to others leaving your jaw dropping or shaking your head in disgust (in a good way).

    Overall this is probably the best Final Fantasy I’ve played since X and maybe in the top 3 of all time. That remains to be seen as I finish this and will update my thoughts on this later.    … Expand

    Final Fantasy XVI is my first Final Fantasy and I think it's great. I'm gonna explain to you why that's the case with a pros and cons list.

    Pros: - it looks magnificent (I think it's crazy what 3 year old hardware can do if it is used to its limits) - the combat system is just great and you can do so many different things - the cutscenes are beautiful - the soundtrack fits perfectly and    Final Fantasy XVI is my first Final Fantasy and I think it's great. I'm gonna explain to you why that's the case with a pros and cons list.

    Pros:
    - it looks magnificent (I think it's crazy what 3 year old hardware can do if it is used to its limits)
    - the combat system is just great and you can do so many different things
    - the cutscenes are beautiful
    - the soundtrack fits perfectly and drags you in this great fantasy world

    Cons:
    - the side quests are often quite boring because you mostly run from one npc to another, but sometimes the stories, that they tell you, make up for it. - performance mode doesn't give you stable 60 fps (the world and view make up for it and the fps seem to rise once you get in a fight)

    Conclusion:
    The game is overall really great and the story is beautifully written. I couldn't list cons without there being an upside to them so i think that says something. I'd recommend this game, also to anyone who hasn't played a Final Fantasy game before this one. Great game 9/10!    … Expand

    It's a great game.

    Combat system is amazing. Eikon battles are sick af. Music is god tier.
    Some side quests are not interesting. But there are still some amazing side quests.

    Well not perfect.

    I really enjoyed the story, characters and world immensely. Its a beautiful game and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

    I do wish they leaned more into traditional RPG elements though.

    Final Fantasy HAS NOT been TURN BASED for TWENTY YEARS now. Move on LOSERS. If you want TURN BASED combat, then this series is NOT FOR YOU anymore and has not been for you, FOR A LONG TIME.

    It's like asking Doom Eternal combat and movement to be as basic as Doom 1993 or Resident Evil to be FIXED GAMER ANGLES.

    This is ridiculous.

    The characters and moments in this game are better than anything I have ever seen. They deserve all the praise for this great game, and with the absolutely incredible music score from Soken, this is something everyone should at least try out.

    The game is fun, the characters are likable, and the battle mechanics are great. The plot was very interesting, and there are all sorts of dark twists and turns that keep your attention. It’s pretty violent, but I’ve definitely seen worse. The graphic and the soundtrack are stunning.

    gameplay is way better than ff15, more like DMC style, and the music is stellar
    Clive is such a great protagonist as well, you can definitely relate to the moments with him, the cast is also memorable.

    Absolutely incredible game. My first final fantasy game ever was FFX almost 20 years ago and it showed me what final fantasy game is all about. I have played almost the whole series by now and there was some up and down but more down than up lately.FF16 has completely make me trust in the series again.     The plot is incomplete, the characterization is lacking, and the ending is disgusting. The game system is boring and there is no desire to delve into it. Most of the funds are spent on the summoned beast battle scene, and the rest is very perfunctory.

Also it is probably the easiest final fantasy since every enemy can be overwhelmed easily with an easy-mastered combo, even the final boss. I used quality mode for exploration and performance mode for battles since the stuttering and screen tearing areIt has the same flaws as FF13 minus the combat i.e linear level designs ,walking and talking simulator until the game opens up.     Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake are best Final Fantasy games of all time, They are both modern (real time combat), have perfect voice acting, amazing graphics and amazing story (yes FF7 Remake story is even better than the OG, because they added and improved so many things). Hype for FF 7 Part 2!!!

    A good game, it has exciting battles against bosses, an epic soundtrack that causes emotion, a deep story and very well tied, regarding the dialogues, yes the game has many but tell me an RPG that does not have dialogues to tell the story, what annoys me a little is the amount of cutscenes that are long and many, I wouldn't even care if there was some kind of interaction but there isn't, IA good game, it has exciting battles against bosses, an epic soundtrack that causes emotion, a deep story and very well tied, regarding the dialogues, yes the game has many but tell me an RPG that does not have dialogues to tell the story, what annoys me a little is the amount of cutscenes that are long and many, I wouldn't even care if there was some kind of interaction but there isn't, I spent almost 30 minutes watching cutscenes without even touching the control several times, from the rest of the game is wonderful, since the graphics like Elden Ring have worse graphics and physics and much less neat and it is still a wonderful game.
    I recommend that you give FF XVI a chance, you certainly won't regret it.    … Expand

Combat are somewhat deep but lacking of variety as we only control one character. Fighting every bosses and mini bosses feel the same way as the loop of breaking and spamming ability after successfully break them goes on and on. As a good action game player need to be clearly sees what happen so player can response in time but for FF16 their is not totally failed on this point but player can be blind by so many special effect resulting in failure to response properly.
    Exploration and undiscovered the secret is no more. Poor level design. Just a plain beautiful field that we almost cannot react with it. Straight path way leading from point A to point B.
    Storytelling can be hard to digest as the world is setting in heavily political driven. Character is great but party member interaction is lacking. Only Clive and Jill go save the world. Even FF15 doing better on this part. How can we forget the last camp fire scene on previous title even so many years later?
    Feel like the producer put so many budget on story telling and cut of exploration, level design, and playable characters part. But still, it is a great game.    … Expand

    Turn based combat was biggest mistake in gaming history and i'm glad it's never coming back!!! If i could go back in time, i would make sure turn based combat was never invented and they would start with action combat from the very beginning!!!

    Llevo mas de 40 horas jugadas entre historia principal y secundaria y quiero decir que por el momento me parece que es el mejor Final Fantasy en cuanto a historia que prefiero. Ahora bien tiene pequeños detalles mejorables como las misiones secundarias, los objetos como tal tampoco tienen gran impacto y el frame rate pero por lo de mas me parece una absoluta obra maestra.

    Final fantasy has been around a while now and I've tried it over the years. Always enjoyed the story and the characters. It was the turn based combat that stopped me really enjoying them. So FF16 was always going to be promising. The combat is incredible. Its slick, takes skill, looks amazing and there's so many options.     I think this might be the worst Final Fantasy game in the series. The storyline is excellent and it grips you right from the start but that's all it has going for it.

    The game play is as linear as FF13 but can you believe, actually less intersting as you spend most of your time button mashing between three buttons for 1 character, and getting RSI in the wrist as a result.     I have been really astonished how good this new final fantasy is. These bad reviews have not given it a chance. I have always been a steadfast rpg fan, but the story, gameplay, characters, environments, everything in this game is top notch. Congrats to the developers!

    FF 16 is being review bombed just like Resident Evil 4 Remake was review bombed few months ago. To go even further back, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was also heavily review bombed by those same people who whined that "it's not FF anymore, because it's not muh turn based combat whine whine whine". These people are not real gamers, they should be banned from everywhere. Hopefully MetacriticFF 16 is being review bombed just like Resident Evil 4 Remake was review bombed few months ago.     Graphically, the game really demonstrates the power of the next generation of consoles! The story is a little bit intricate yet strong and unfolding as you dive in the game! Gameplay and combat is the strongest I’ve ever seen for the last two years at least! Sound is the icing of the cake, and it reminds me of old great games which heavily utilised music    All a game sequel is all about!

    This game is the standard for not only the Final Fantasy series, but ARPGs going forward. Story, combat, graphics, lore, music is all outstanding. Sometimes I can’t believe that I am actually playing something of this quality. Whether you’re a 20+ yearlong fan like myself or new to the series, this game is for you. Forget everything you think you know about Final Fantasy and pick this one up.

It may seem odd for a Final Fantasy to be action oriented, however, it fits perfectly for the future installments. Landing combos may be a bit hard but this game is always about learning. There’s nothing much to do in the “open world” besides collecting useless material and defeating enemies as I wish for dungeons. I also do wish there was more than one role as a swordsman. But it’s whatever I guess as Clive only knows how to wield a sword and go super saiyan with his abilities. However, the game’s Eikon Battles, main story, cinematic immersion and music make up for these gripes.… Expand

    Giving this 9/10 only because I don't own a console and don't plan to own one. Please ensure your games are released in a timely fashion on PC.

    It's a beautiful game, no need to say more. Just enjoy the game, it's a benchmark of what a modern AAA title can be.

    i give it as 9/10 as the characters, story, music, world building, easter eggs, side quests and rewards, RPG elements were top notch!
    the only thing stopping from giving it a perfect 10/10 was the combat, while i love the DMC style of combat the game has, it feels lacking in a sense, personally the FF7:R combat system had the perfect blend of action and turn based combat.

    -I would prefere the Game would offer more Itemvarity/usefull Items and Gear, even if its a actrion-rpg now, hoped it would not dropped all those aspects beforehand.
    -Would have liked more good designed sidecontent, like more postgame quests, hidden areas or superbosses instead of a ng+ replay.
    -The World and Area fells somehow lifeless (not much going on), missing too more "big" citys. Often a highlight in Jrpg for me.

    For what i am looking, this Final Fantasy has sadly many for me imortant points missed.

    I enjoyed every second of this game, it made me smile so often. THE BOSSFIGHTS ARE JUST P*RN WITH COMBAT AND SOUNDTRACK, THATS WHAT I HOPED TO SEE IN GOW RAGNARÖK, BUT RAGNARÖK BOSS FIGHT WAS RLLY MEH AND GOT A 94, BUT FF16 IS A GAME YOU CANT COMPARE TO OTHERS, JUST PLS PLAY IT U WONT REGRET!!!

    El modo que viene por defecto es el modo resolucion, que funciona a 30 fps estables y 4k rescalados, aunque    Grafica y artisticamente muy bonito, banda sonora increible, sistema de combate divertido y adictivo, historia apasionante, misiones secundarias simples pero argumentalmemte interesantes, lore muy trabajado y duracion bastante larga. Simplemente el mejor Final Fantasy desde el 10.

    I’ve played all of the mainline games in that time, on and offline and feel that XVI is one of the strongest we’ve had in many years. I had every faith that the team would deliver as a huge fan of FFXIV Online and all of    I’ve been playing Final Fantasy for over 25 years as an avid fan of the franchise.     I was very upset at first when the game felt stage based and linear but was quickly reminded of how the world of Final Fantasy XIV felt and    I was entraced by the voice acting and the abundance of emotions the characters exhibit.. the Game play is addictive and the story keeps pulling you in then throws you head first into the sky when these eikonic beasts duke it out on a collosal scale.

    Story, Action, Cutscene, etc..., all is high quality.

    Though I can't go around the world freely, the way prepared by devlopers gives me an great experience.

    A Solid 10/10 Game.
    I'm not a series fan but FF16 created a magical world and gave me incredible experience during Eikon fights in the last 50 hours. Brightly colored hdr scene and impassioned music really brought that beautiful world to me.

    Mi puntuación real iba a ser 8 tirando a 9, pero debido a los t0nt0s de siempre me veo casi moralmente obligado a ponerle un 10.

    Es un FF que arriesga con el cambio en el estilo de combate, y le sale muy bien en mi opinión. Se sigue sintiendo como un FF a pesar de que el combate sea más un hack&slash y las mecánicas de RPG se han visto reducidas.

    But I was WRONG, the combat system is extremely FUN! I'm 100+ hours playing the game and I'm still going out of my way to fight extra enemies, NOT because I need the extra XP, but because COMBAT in FF16 is really fun, there's no ending to the amount of new combos you can do, and switching Eikonic Abilities allows for a lot of customization.
    And of course... the storytelling is one of the best ever made, it doesn't pale in comparison to The Witcher, The Last of Us or Cyberpunk2077.
    This is a game of the year contender, without a doubt. Everyone who can play it, should play it ;-)

    Un mal rendimiento puede convertir una obra de arte en una puta mierda injugable. Y este ha sido el caso de Final Fantasy XVI. Un título con un diseño espectacular y un combate demoledor destrozado por su propio rendimiento atroz. No sólo viene con una resolución mediocre para los tiempos que corren sino también con un frame drop infumable. Su modo rendimiento es tan malo y está tan malUn mal rendimiento puede convertir una obra de arte en una puta mierda injugable. Y este ha sido el caso de Final Fantasy XVI. Un título con un diseño espectacular y un combate demoledor destrozado por su propio rendimiento atroz. No sólo viene con una resolución mediocre para los tiempos que corren sino también con un frame drop infumable. Su modo rendimiento es tan malo y está tan mal optimizado que lo hacen intragable. Las caídas de la tasa son inaceptables y el motor no sabe mantener ni de broma los 60fps estables que debería. No hay por donde cogerlo. Es una mierda de build la del lanzamiento. Viendo a obras maestras como Forbidden West o el Ragnarok, mucho más complejos que este, visualmente superiores y con un rendimiento excelente en PS5, demuestran que aquí Square Enix no ha estado al nivel de la consola ni mucho menos. No ha dado la talla.

    Final Fantasy XVI es basura como programa y no está en condiciones de ser vendido. Quien niegue esto es directamente un necio, como medios comprados e incompetentes regalando 9s y 10s a diestro y siniestro. O no tienen ojos en la cara o no saben ni de lo que cojones hablan. Y hay que decirlo bien alto para que se enteren tras explotarles en la frente: El rendimiento es el 50% de una obra y la build de lanzamiento de Final Fantasy XVI es inaceptable por ello. Ahora que Square Enix se ponga a trabajar en serio para arreglarlo que buena falta le hace. Es lo que deben hacer y rápido. No sea que ya no tenga salvación por tardar demasiado.    … Expand

    80€ pour un film, c’est cher ! L’histoire est pas mal mais niveau gameplay c’est zéro ! Je ne comprends pas comment on peut faire un jeu aussi vide en 6 ans de développement…Dommage

    Exceeded my expectations. Amazing game! After playing the demo I was surprised by the quality of the game, and just gets better as the gameplay progresses.

    Final Fantasy XVI is an excellent game in every way. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.     This is a solid RPG/action game. Some elements of the game are unusual and fresh for single-player parts of the Final Fantasy series, but some are too dull and rudimentary.

    New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
