    Final Fantasy 16 will undoubtedly withstand the test of time and take its place as one of the best games to ever grace a new gen system best looking game of all time never seen a game this beautifully polished undeniably unbelievable Yoshi p is the greatest of all time the man the myth the legend whatever he touches he makes sure it’s perfect, also pet torgal ! 10/10

    従来のFF15やFF7Rのシステムなどを活かされた部分も多々あり気合の入っている続編と言えます。
    良い点 ストーリーが少し大人向けではあるが細かい所の解説サポートがあるので素晴らしいと思いました。 演出が素晴らしかった。これ以上の作品は見たことがないほど楽しませてくれました。 音楽が場面のイメージと一致し盛り上げてくれた。珍しくサウンドトラックなど購入し聞きたくなるほどであった。 声優の演技が良く気になる点はほぼなかった。 気になった点 モーションブラーがあるので見ずらい場面がありましたがこちらは後日パッチで修正され選べるようになる予定だそうです。 スキルの演出がド派手すぎて相手の行動が読めない場合がある。    FFシリーズの中で一番好きな作品になりました。

    I finished the game last night so i wanted to leave a review. Don't buy the hype, there is no way to actually see if the people leaving these reviews have played the game. I am a long time Final Fantasy fan. I have played all FF games.     Score as a Final Fantasy game: 0.025/10
    Score as an action game: 3.2/10
    Score as a Dark Souls Clone: 9.5/10

    First this is the worst story i have ever seen in a video game. Beware the toxically positive FF14 community that try to flame anyone who brings a valid criticism to anything Yoshi P touches. It is disconnected with the only good character leaving after 18% of the game. The ending was terrible but honestly a fitting conclusion to this horrible game.

    Cons:
    -All the bad elements of FF14 were copied and pasted into this game. All your quests will have you talking to multiple people who don't matter to waste your time. All the monsters and areas were copied from FF14 and had their graphics slightly up-ressed. The story is mostly copied from shadow bringers expansion. All the character models are slightly up scaled graphics of FF14.

    -A death or two is impactful, killing everyone is just lazy story telling.

    -This game has more adult material in it than all the Grand Theft Autos combined. Using the F word every third word and screaming it does not make something better. It does not make a setting darker. It is just lazy story telling.

    -Completely disconnected narrative. After beating the game and getting to the end nothing in this story makes sense. There are cheesy cut scenes that have cringe dialogue with unlikable characters that talk about things that have no connection with the actual story in the game. The only likable character exits the game at around 18%,

    -Unfulfilling end and conclusion. Nothing is accomplished or saved at the end. You are left filling empty and fatigued after getting to the end. I had to force myself to finish this game just so i didn't feel bad about spending all the money of buying it.

    -Really terrible boss fights and cut scenes. This game is like junk food in the boss fights. Only tastes good for 15 minutes after it comes out and leaves you with a stomach ache and regret over making bad life choices. This was made for the Instagram generation that needs a ton of flashing lights and movement to keep their interest for more than 2 min. You can't even tell what is going on in most of the fights. Again this was another aspect copy and pasted from FF14. The initial Ifirit shceme in the main game (after the prologue), has the same background as FF14. It is pure lazyness.

    -Length of game: The initial playthrough took me around 22 hours (over 75% of this time was doing really poorly designed fetch quests that required me to go to multiple locations and talk to npcs that don't matter to waste my time, like FF14). That was with completing every side quest, crafting every weapon available on normal difficulty, and completing every hunt. I have never clocked in less than 80 hours on an original FF game. Like FF7 remake after finishing the game you are forced to play through it again on a higher difficulty to feel like you have truly beaten the game. This allows lazy devs to use a small story and game twice to make it feel like its larger.

    -There are so many more cons but i think the story being so bland and terrible is the biggest one.

    Pro:

    This is probably the best dark souls game ever made. That is what all the development resources went into. Do you want to have scored events where you can flex you Epeen to your friends or the internet with how much better you are than them? There is a score based on battle performance for every level, zone, and trial.

    In the same vein on "Final Fantasy" difficulty every fight is a struggle to manage your resources to win as you get later into the game. It requires perfect dodges and giving screen prompt commands that no longer appear on the screen and you just have to know what to press during mini cinematic events.

    Conclusion: this is the worst Final Fantasy game ever made. It is a bad action game, but a great dark souls like difficulty game once you beat it and can do a second play through on the original intended difficulty. My review is based upon this being marketed as a main line Final Fantasy game.    … Expand

    This game is phenomenal. People trying to say it's not a FF game are just stuck in the early 2000s and don't get me started on Xbox player being mad. Super great story and characters and addicting game loop

    Still working on finishing it at the moment but I have to say gameplay, story, and overall content it is just amazing. Truly got me by the feels in so many ways from super happy to sad then most of all pissed not just for the ppl in the MSQ but the side quest (I mean this in how is caught me).     I felt many times that "this is Final Fantasy".

    There are some good systems that complement the story and worldview, but I felt there was room for improvement in the story structure.

    A great evolution of final fantasy storytelling and characters. It’s been a while since I’ve been invested in the plot of a game and they nailed all the main characters in terms of personality and design. The combat is fun and fluid. Every boss fight feels engaging and the diversity move sets makes for great variety with each encounter or whenever you want to shift your play style.     A very refreshing spin on the FF series. It's not perfect. Few issues with camera angles and control, but it makes up for it in gameplay. A real Game of Thrones vibe. If this is the new direction Square Enix is going then it can only get better.

    I started Final Fantasy VIII in 1998, it brought me a fairytale world that I really loved at the time! I really liked the drawing backgrounds!     So far i am 15 hours in. Its really good. Some of the battles are adrenaline packed. The story seems good and the characters are interesting. Could be a 10 if they had more side quests that were more interesting than merely fetching an item or rescuing a person from a creature. Also some glitches like being able to walk right through a killed creature. Much better than 15 so far.

    A mi al principio no me llamaba tanto este FF pero cuando probé el demo quedé impactada xd y fue el motivo por el que lo reserve de inmediato y no me arrepiento ♡

    Hasta el momento me está gustando mucho, llevo 26 horas y es increíble. Of course it’s not the “ff that every child should play because they grow up better” and the structure of subquest it’s a lot similar to ffxiv (MMO) so i guess someone could not like it, but geezIF when i was a child someone had told me that in the future i could play the cutscene of the summons in FFIX i wouldn’t believe them. The Eikon battle are a mixed feeling if final fantasy and dragon ball. In this FF the RPG component is the build of the skills and accessories, it’s not like previous ff with materia system or Junction. Some build are good to clear easily, others are helpful to kill bosses. And the combat system is super funny, pls stop using rings for noobs and wait for FF mode in ng+.
    Boss fights are always unique.
    OST are a masterpiece.
    The cities live.
    Can’t believe how good this game is.
    Cons: don’t have minigames. I guess was not too hard to implement a chocobo treasure quest like ff9. Or a Gold Saucer in the end game.

    Square Enix proves one again they have the magic to make an amazing gaming experience like no other developer. This is an epic adventure that will have you on a roller coaster of emotions and fun battle system that makes you question if you ever really liked turned-based games. My only complain is that the performance mode was not ready to launch, hope they do something about it in future updates.

It speaks volumes considering Final Fantasy 15 came out incomplete (took two years for all the FF Royal content to come out). This feels like a very complete experience and I couldn't be happier.     Now I will say, the cut-scenes can be long. I dont have a problem with them personally because I find the story very enjoyable, however I could see why some people may have a problem with that. The performance mode definitely needs to be optimized. However, if you play on graphics mode it holds pretty steady.

    Definitely a fantastic game. It may not be for the more traditional final fantasy fan. But if you can get past that, you are in for one heck of an experience    … Expand

In all seriousness, the fighting system is excellent, if your familiar with 7 remake and 15 then you'll pick it up in no time. The use of a dog partner to team with you is awesome as he can help you juggle enemies orIgnore the haters and read some real reviews! Gameplay is a lot of fun in this game and I'm a big fan of the story! If you love swords, magic and dogs then here's your game! The mechanics of some of the cut scenes where you button mash feel kinda redundant, like not very important even though I know its to help immerse you into the gameplay, so maybe it will be built upon as the games go on. Even the item descriptions are written from a fun POV. The Active Time Lore system feels innovative and should be added to every new game with so many characters and locations.

There has been no shortage of epic battles and big spectacles. I haven’t played a game this hard to put down in a long time. The review bombers are plain wrong.     overall - The game is fine if you like this kind of story, a fan of Devil May Cry, and don't mind endless cutscenes. But that's it. Everything else felt barebones or just filler. It's cutscene, fight, cutscene, rinse repeat. None of the Final Fantasy charm, characters for the most part felt boring especially the non-playable ones. It would've been cool if Jill was an official party member who you could customize and use her for different strategies. Weapon upgrades and crafting are basically nonexistent. Side quests were garbage (way worse than the FF7 Remake ones). There's just very little world building, surprise element, or sense of discovery in this game. Progression and ability page are very uninspired. Not even a freaking side activity or mini game. And even the combat which is the best part of the game is faced with repetitive enemies and strategies. Again, if you like to just watch a story with minimal control go for it. Final Fantasy 7 Remake might've upset people off with some of the story changes but at least it brought the best of what made Final Fantasy great and at the same time modernizing it. Final Fantasy 16 is not geared for fans of the series.    … Expand

    Best game. I love all FF's games in general. but this game has topped it. As a fan coming from Yoshi P's FFXIV Game as well. This game does so much and fills in a lot of your time with beautiful storytelling and heart wrenching dialogue. It will definitely be something you will love. Don't listen to the bad nay sayers who just think one mindedly. This game is worth a shot. !

    I Don't get the hype for this game it barely feels like a Final Fantasy game. It just rips off DMC's combat and the length of MGS cutscenes. Do not get this game you will be disappointed if you're a fan of the older and superior turn-based Final Fantasy games.

    I'm only 7 hours into this game but my god is it amazing, Yoshi-p took everything you may love about FF and put it into this one game. The Music, Story, Characters, Eikons, Setting, Chocobos, Moogles and of course the bestest boy Torgal. Everything about this game just screams THIS IS FINAL FANTASY.

    The combat took a bit getting used to but once you figure it out it becomes so much fun    I'm only 7 hours into this game but my god is it amazing, Yoshi-p took everything you may love about FF and put it into this one game.     The combat took a bit getting used to but once you figure it out it becomes so much fun and engaging. You could just mash one button but you won't have the best nor the easiest time with some of these enemies, stringing together combos and finding what works is what makes the combat in the game.

    Now this isn't to say that the game isn't without some flaws, the performance of the game is somewhat slacking but overall for me anyway wasn't a big issue since I prefer to play on Quality Mode.

    I hope that this is the future for Final Fantasy games for years to come because it just works    … Expand

I for instant grow up with ff6, chrono trigger and other ATB games. But mine consern and mostely important one is the story and the story is great! The dark lore the loses the grief and hatered of characters in the story is well done. The first time also on lipsynce on the english adiaunce. Keep in mind the game is no near perfect and no game is. But anough talk about ff16 haters. This game is really good because the combat allways put me on the edge of my seat. The party IA is good because when you do damage they do also allot of damage aslong you do allot of damage. I kill 3 mobs they killed 2 of the others the same time on the battlefield. Graphics is great even the motion blurr is hard to delete. Except for 2d games. Music is great composed by Soken and i can see that made the game with there heart and soul. Remember the eikonic battles are for more fun then it is in the normal battles. A nice twist now and then. The weird part i dont understand about the ff16 haters that i dont get is this they didnt complain about ff7 that is not a ff because of the crystals. There is none in ff7 but the lifestream. My take in ff games is the story and that is my highest priority in ff games with the iconnic beast like moogle chocobo etc...

    Superb music, very good storytelling and sometimes jawdropping in the graphics. I haven't been this addicted to a game in a long time!
    Deffo one of my all-time favourites now after finishing it.

    What an absolutely incredible game. The boss fights are some of the best if not the best I've ever experienced, the music is up there too, the story is great from start to finish, the combat is also addicting all the way through, and leaves you wanting for your 2nd playthrough.

    The ONLY downsides are performance mode struggling and side quests being mostly generic.

While the side-quest design is superior to many modern RPGs, some of the quests feel less consequential and put-together than quests from other modern masterpieces like the Witcher 3. The lack of RPG elements like powerful gear to find out in the world provide little incentive to explore Valisthea outside of sidequests and hunts. Finally, while Final Fantasy XVI has some of the highest points in gaming during its main campaign, the game will transition into calmer moments in the story that it uses for world and character building. While this is welcome after such intense missions, the execution could be a little bit better, as some of the main quests during these points in the story feel mundane. These calmer story beats also often feature lower-production cutscenes which feel a little disjointed compared to the extremely high-octane missions that feature full motion capture cutscenes at a very high production value.

    No game is perfect, and if it were any other game, the rough edges present in Final Fantasy XVI would warrant docking a point. However, Final Fantasy XVI’s light shines so brightly during its best moments that I can’t consider this game anything but a masterpiece. The high-points in this game surpass every game I’ve played that I would give the same rating to such as God of War, the Last of Us, and the Witcher 3. This allows for some forgiveness for the rougher edges. As an avid Final Fantasy fan who has played every mainline Final Fantasy including FFXIV 1.0, I believe that that this game is the best in the series. It has reinvigorated one of the most storied franchises in gaming history and hopefully ushers in a new age of mature Final Fantasy games that still captures the spirit of the franchise.

The story had me tearing up, jumping for joy, and on the edge of my seat for what felt like the entire campaign. I haven't experienced a video game story like this........ ever.

    While I prefer turn based combat, I have loved the action based combat developed by Ryota Suzuki. At times I did wish it was more difficult but they've given me arcade mode and Final Fantasy hard mode to challenge myself appropriately. Even in the main story difficulty, performing a parry, dodge, or proper combo feels really good. The main story sequences are epic, grand, and bold and I understand why Yoshi-P went with action based combat to make the transition to these scenes more realistic. Performing a cinematic strike feels epic.

    I get why this game is so controversial. For the first time in 17 years Square-Enix did not pull their punches. They went with the direction Yoshi-P wanted without holding him back. Many people will not enjoy it, and that's ok. The people that do enjoy games like this will absolutely love it. For the last 20 years I have bounced between Final Fantasy 6, 7 and 9 as my favourite in the series. Final Fantasy 16 has cemented itself as my new favourite and I do not say that lightly.    … Expand

    Best Final Fantasy in a long time. The story is compelling, even though it can be awkward at times. The gameplay has never been this good. Just pure fun and it’s balanced. The maps are beautiful and don’t overstay their welcome. At this point I don’t have to say anything about the music.
    I recommend this game for Final Fantasy Fans and newcomers.

The storyline is good but fairly obvious what's going to happen, feels a lot like game of thrones which to me is a good thing. The game mechanics aren't as good as 15 but it has got some interesting changes. Id say give the game a chance if you have the patience to either play it at a sub par level or have a air conditioner blowing directly onto your ps5 or like playing it and it crashing intermittently (Usually during a 20 min cutscene at the 17th minute)… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to even begin.. I'm halfway through the game and so far I think the story is great and the soundtrack is amazing. I like the dark tone and the sense of war and deceit being around the corner all the time. I think the characters are good and I find myself laughing from time to time even though the game really has a dark story. The game in itself is beautiful to, the stroke of the wind on grasssy parts just looks amazing and satisfying. The enemies also have great designs.

    But....

    That's it for the good stuff. And I actually find myself pretty disappointed. For starters, the battle system just lacks inspiration, you just do the same stuff all the time and there is no strategy behind it. You can attack fire type enemies with fire and still do a lot of damage. There is no status ailments. If you die during during a boss fight you get to start in the middle of the fight with replenished items.

    The weapons are boring, they just add a stronger attack and nothing else when you get a new one. There is no funny items that do funny stuff (FFX and FFXII had plenty).

    You get to battle the same kind of enemies all the time, I think there is like 10 different type of enemies and the rest is just different variation of the same kind of enemy.

    The hunts are easy, I could easily kill a rank A monster even though I was 8 levels lower than the actual monster. There is no puzzles or any form av exploring. Up until FFXIII the games wasn't open world and still had exploring to do.

    WHY is there no chocobo theme? Like WTF!?

    I will finish the game, and probably enjoy the story. But I feel SE really losing their touch. To not be able to plan a good strategy for enemies or not being able to explore is just so so sad. They keep saying they need to modernize, and that's fine, but don't remove key aspects because of it. This game would be awesome with a battle system that improved from FFXII, that was fast paced but still needed strategy.

    Remember going to your friends house when you were younger and they had the hot new game that everyone was talking about that you hadn’t had a chance to play yet? You’re watching them play and it looks amazing. You see them do so much sick stuff and want nothing more than to have a turn on it yourself. You ask them if you can have a go, and they reluctantly say yes. You walk down a corridor for a minute, and then they snatch the controller back from you and you have to watch while some amazing stuff takes place. Eventually they give you the controller again, and let you run through an empty albeit pretty field where there are a few enemies that amount to nothing but brainless punching bags. That gives you enough time to know that the combat seems super fun with a lot of depth to it if you choose to deep dive into the combo system. But before you can do much else the controller is yanked away again by your friend.
    This is, I think the best of describing Final Fantasy 16. A game that is itself almost desperate to not let you play it. You’ve likely already heard that the combat is great and it certainly is. But the pointless punching back enemies that litter the games empty open area zones aren’t worth engaging with, and that only leaves the bigger fights and boss encounters in the games more linear sections. These can be great, but last about 5 minutes, before wresting control from you to subject you to another 30 minutes of its confusing mess of a melodrama. This is coming from someone who likes melodrama mind you, and I found the demo a great setup for a potentially intriguing albeit simple medieval fantasy revenge story. Within about 10 minutes of playtime outside of what the demo offered, a pattern of jumping from one thing to the next with careless abandon would be how this game attempted to tell its story. At time of writing this I’m about 80% done the story. It’s very clear at this point that they almost immediately abandon any attempt of telling a simple but well put together story, and jumped instead headfirst into something else entirely. It’s got to the point where I just feel myself going comatose whenever some of the atrocious voice work start blathering on; expositing things that should have been either setup earlier to lend themselves to a more cohesive narrative, or explained dynamically as you play. Instead the methodology is to just have you spend 20 minutes after a main quest concludes running around speaking the boring NPC after boring NPC and having the fill in the many blanks. I had a feeling that I would likely struggle to finish the game when I was first hit with such marvellous quest design as:
    Talk to NPC who wants you to talk to three other NPCs. One of the three instructs you to go and find someone in a location you’ve visited dozens of times already. Go there, talk to NPC. “Sorry person you need isn’t here, go here instead”. Find other NPC, talk, quest complete.

    It’s ironic that they said they used the first season of Game of Thrones as thematic inspiration for the game, because the way they tell the story in this game feels as though you get to watch the first episode of the first season, then they skip you all the way to season five and just occasional stop the game dead in its tracks to give you a 30 minute lore recap on key events that you just don’t get to take part in but are seemingly crucial to the story. The cutscenes are of course superbly well done. But so much of the exposition is delivered not through the actual cutscenes but through these stiff and lifeless conversations that aren’t animated in the slightest. Character says line, long pause, character responds, long pause. Rinse and repeat.

    Though the game isn’t open world, the game is still too open world; a symptom of this death grip the game has on the notion of needing to be perceived as an RPG.
    The zones that you can explore feel akin in scope to something like a Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time. Only difference being that in Ocarina of Time the Field serves as an access point to all the key areas of the game. The zones in FF16 serve no purpose other than prolonging your access to the linear segments that are actually fun. Once you’ve run through them once, they serve no function other than the occasional side quest that may pop up there, and trust me when I say side quests in this game are the last thing you want to waste your time on.

    Many times over the team said that this game was an action RPG. There is no RPG in here. If they’d just accepted that maybe they wanted to make an action game that would take you at most 20hrs to clear that was all linear with well designed levels and great combat, I think it could work. Unfortunately the need to maintain the series pedigree or not stray too far from the known path renders the game a mess, a pretty one with some fun to be had of course, but a mess nonetheless.    … Expand

    30 hours in and nearing the final section of the game I have to say it's not a Final Fantasy game.

    Combat is fun for the brief moments you get to play in between the massive cutscenes, but even that gets old after so many repetitions. There is no strategy, no party, no elements, (de)buffs, weapon choice, gear choice, stat choices, open world or over world, items to find, dungeons,    30 hours in and nearing the final section of the game I have to say it's not a Final Fantasy game.

    There is no strategy, no party, no elements, (de)buffs, weapon choice, gear choice, stat choices, open world or over world, items to find, dungeons, hidden bosses, or character building for friends.

    There are brief nods to chocobos, a moogle, some of the classic music, names of FF enemies/summons, and crystals. This was about all the Final Fantasy that was included in the 16th installment of Final Fantasy.

    There is only combat and cutscenes. The gameplay loop is simply watch a 20-30 minute cutscene, walk through a narrow corridor of some type, kill 3 enemies, kill 3 more, fight a boss, watch 20 -30 minutes more of a cutscene. At best this is a weird Final Fantasy spinoff game. At worst it's the future of the franchise and 15 was the last mainline Final Fantasy game that retained any DNA from the last 30 years of the franchise's existence.    … Expand

    Trail blazing a new Era of Final Fantasy! Combat is fast and freeing, as well as an enthralling storyline with a roller coaster of ups and downs. Love all of characters new and old, and the primals are a fully fleshed out and powerful as ever.

    There are rooms for improvements, like every other video games I've played.
    But as far as enjoyment goes, Final Fantasy XVI is one of the most enjoyable Final Fantasy game I've ever played in the last 10 or more years.

    Das Spiel ist wirklich gut und ich würde gerne eine 7 oder 8 geben allerdings ist es mir nicht möglich das Spiel weiterzuspielen da sich meine PS5 dauernd wegen Überhitzung selbst abschaltet. Haben die das Spiel in einer Kältekammer getestet? Echt Schade um das Spiel.
    Ich würde btw alle 0 und 100 Bewertungen ignorieren da diese komplett belanglos sind.

    Excellent, characters and an amazing story, graphics and perfect soundtrack. The RPG elements (side quests, crafting, etc.) were simplified to attract new players, trying to make an action/rpg mix light, I preferred something denser in that aspect, but it doesn't make the game any less amazing.

    Growing up playing Final Fantasy X I always had one dream and it was for that style of game to come out but with actual fluid combat. Well I am happy to report that game now exists in Final Fantasy XVI. FFXVI é repleto de batalhas especiais e você sempre percebe o carinho que os desenvolvedores tiveram em deixar todas elas diferentes, são longas porém te ajudam a aproveitar e testar toda essa gama de habilidades que o jogo te dá. Sugiro observarem de forma carinhosa todas as habilidades da árvore, principalmente as habilidades especiais dos Eikons, são impressionantes. O jogo consegue fazer você se importar muito pelos personagens, como possui também uma abordagem mais "sanguinária" a qualquer momento você pode ver um personagem que gosta em apuros. A trilha sonora é contagiante, ela entra o tempo inteiro com as mais diversas melodias, das mais calmas e clássicas até a mais épicas e animadoras de todas. A história e o seu progresso segue como se a trilha sonora estivesse mudando de calma e leve para densa e empolgante várias e várias vezes, te dando uma boa sequência de combates gigantescos por um longo tempo e depois uma folga para você andar por aí e fazer missões pelo mundo. Um equilíbrio previsível mas essencial que funcionou muito bem.

    Apesar de tudo que eu amei em Final Fantasy, ele não é perfeito. Os gráficos e as expressões poderiam ser melhores para a nossa época atual, bem melhores. Além disso eu senti que algumas missões secundárias de fazer entregas e virar uma espécie de mensageiro não bate muito bem com a trama, o Clive tem outras responsabilidades mais importantes que poderiam ser desempenhadas em missões mais desafiadoras. As caçadas por exemplo, que é algo que o jogo libera em algum momento da história são muito legais, eu nunca deixei uma para trás, são épicas e recompensadoras. Porém, de qualquer forma, os pontos negativos são sobrepostos com facilidade pelos muitos positivos. Sobre aspectos técnicos do jogo eu presenciei quedas de FPS, de forma mínima mas é algo que ocorreu, também seria interessante eles entregarem 60 FPS no modo desempenho por 100% do tempo, sem a alternância para os 30 FPS.

    Esses são meus elogios e criticas ao Final Fantasy XVI. Um jogo épico, empolgante e memorável que deixa poucas penas de fênix caírem ao ar.    … Expand

    Very well acted and presented. A very strong opening sequence sets the tone. Once the option to turn off motion blur is added, I will be starting NG+. Incredible.

    My Game of The Year so far. Great combat, great story, great visuals, greats music, awesome action sequences and cut scenes. Final Fantasy successfully reinvents itself once again. Highly recommended.

    Battle System, while the combo system is a little fun, it's not for me. Its focusing more being an action game than a rpg.

    Timely Accessories for accessibility options might seem good but makes the game way too easy regardless of which mode you use. Story mode you get most right of the bat, action mode at certain intervals. These accessories shouldn't have needed to be in the game and take up valuable accessory slots. Should have been made as options via a point system.

    Magic to me was pretty much useless, no need to have been in the game, no monster/enemy elemental weaknesses, lack of status effects. Admittingly Magic in FF14 is mostly a dps mechanic but that's as an MMO, but there is still DoTs and Status effects. For example the Morbol boss these monsters normally have fire weakness, Clive uses fire type skills but the "Fire" is just for flashy effects and dealt a measly 10 damage towards it.

    Now as of late there is a mass divide between FF fans which happens every single FF released, but this one takes the biscuit. Now if you give any type of criticism towards FF16 in any of the groups these hardcore fans will do everything in their power to say you are wrong especially with lines like
    "You don't own a the game or PS5", "Cope and Seethe" and so on.

    Well to me its a mid game. 5/10 and that's pushing it.    … Expand

    I loved the story, combat gameplay and exploration. The characters and fights are really well done. The music is fantastic as always. It's one of the greatest FF ever released for sure!

    My first game review on Meta, and speaking for myself, it's somewhat of a step back for the series, though it is still a good to near great game. Combat is the best it's ever been, even though it still could've been better. It takes getting used to the lack of elemental affinities and status effects, which Remake 7 showed that its possible to do. That said, it gets the job done. This game didnt reach it's full potential in my opinion. Still a solid experience to great experience when it peaks. All this said, I'm hoping this isn't future for Final Fantasy, but I do think it's a good baseline, and I hope to see some things, especially on the combat front, carry over to Rebirth and future installments. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.     New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
