    Let me start with saying, this is half a game even with just Multiplayer. It's broken, vehicles are OP, one weapon is god, hit boxes are broken. Lag is everywhere, no voice chat in game, spawns are terrible, they patched it twice now and it's still broken, weapons don't load in and if you lucky, sometimes you don't spawn in or given a random kit.     I’ve always been a sucker for shooters. Played a bunch of Battlefields, COD’s, MOH’s and such. Enjoyed plenty of them. Despite the game looking amazing I just get very little joy out of this one. The game feels very bare without a campaign, few maps, few weapons. I loved the idea of portal, though it feels limited as well. EA is an embarrassment to video games and they couldn't care less about their customers. I wouldn't recommend downloading this game for free. Many core BF features have simply been removed (e.g. a scoreboard and destruction is almost non existent).     I bought this for the PS 5, hoping the bad reviews were just hated, but really, the game is awful, the imbalance is without the cool mechanics, the game is worse than Battlefield 4, don't buy this **** until it's normal.

    I feel robbed by EA for 120$. They sold me not a game, it is not a game to be clear it is a SCAM! It feels like and looks like an attempt to make a game by students and sell it as an AAA project. A lot of bugs, empty maps, a lot of errors and crashes, poor choice of weapons and enginery, bad balance, bad...everything is bad AND EA said that it is gamers fault because of the highI feel robbed by EA for 120$.     By far the worst part of the frenchise.

    The operators don't make sense.
    The game is missing basic features like a scoreboard, VOIP, assist points, a class system.

    pre orderd game ,couldnt play because of bugs n crashes should have got part refund as never got to play. pre order players were just test dummys so they could try fix bugs such a crappy game for price

    I've put 30 hours in. I'm enjoying the game. Specialists bring some nuance despite their controversial addition. Some more destruction would be nice. The maps are pretty wide open and could use some tightening up and detail added to indoor areas. Could be a bit more optimized but as of now it seems to have its major bugs ironed out. It gives those "only in battlefield" moments, and is aI've put 30 hours in. I'm enjoying the game. Specialists bring some nuance despite their controversial addition.     Maps are disgustingly uninspired, actual destruction is at its worst level ever. The UI and HUD sucks, social and squad systems are frustratingly difficult to operate. The menus are laggy and unresponsive. I could go on...

    Please don't buy this game, if you did, teach DICE and EA a lesson and get yourself a refund, i know I will.    … Expand

    I have not felt any release before Battlefield 2042 was too bad. I went through 1942 freezes, Vietnam M60 sniping, and BF2 ranking failures (persistent tracking did not update on their server). I even thought BF3/BF4 rubber banding was whatever since I still got to play Battlefield. To give perspective,    I have played BF since Battlefield 1942 and DC mod and this game is not Battlefield.

I still did not mind any of those things too much because I was playing Battlefield.

    I tried playing this game but I found myself playing other games and putting this particular game on the shelf because it's just not Battlefield. I am not sure how to explain it, but this game just does not feel or play like Battlefield. This is just another recycled FPS Generic shooter.

    I avoid games like COD, APEX, and anything with a Battle Royale because it's just not my style. Heroes are for kids. Brainless shooting without strategy is for kids. Running out in the open without a plan is for kids. Coding a game before testing it is for kids. This game was made by and for kids. It's time to go back to our PC roots and play games like ArmA and Squad and hope the old DiCE dev games like Arc Raiders is good.

    I have tried to enjoy Bf2042 since launch despite a raft of issues, but finally it's really just shown a surprising lack of depth. Overall art design is good, but level design is terrible. No usable cover on capture points make you cannon fodder for mouse pad snipers. I find myself constantly popping smoke to stay alive. No peek around cover options or weapon mounting doesn't help. NoI have tried to enjoy Bf2042 since launch despite a raft of issues, but finally it's really just shown a surprising lack of depth. Overall art design is good, but level design is terrible. No usable cover on capture points make you cannon fodder for mouse pad snipers. I find myself constantly popping smoke to stay alive. No peek around cover options or weapon mounting doesn't help. No choke points to enable tense gunplay. Vehicle balancing is broken and light transports are useless, which makes Conquest feel like a sprinting simulator. 128 player matches can be a thrill and this kept me coming back until I realised the maps were garbage. With servers seeming laggier than ever and player counts plummeting the state of the game is far from ideal. Patches have fixed assault rifle bloom and hit reg issues. But these shouldn't have existed in the first place in a game with an active beta. Dice clearly dropped the ball on what should have been a slam dunk.… Expand

    How this got a 67 on metascore is absolutely mind bending! This is the worst battlefield game I have ever played. It feels like it was created for mobile. Lack of guns, lack of customisation, lack of soul. The maps are super open and aimed at vehicles. They are so empty and clean and weird. The game is just so bad. Do not get it.

    Unplayable. So many bugs! This games does not deserve full price even if they fix it. Indeed, immediately they reduced it to 30% off, then 50%, and now it is permanently on sale. No guns, no maps, no story mode. Laggy servers. Every single aspect is bad and performs poorly if it is not glitchy. We, who paid full price, are mad at EA/DICE. I'll never pre-order again.

    Quick background on me the reviewer, I tend to like single player games that is heavy on narrative the most. I also play a lot of racing games and use to play multiplayer games in my high school days but now that it's hard for me and my friends to find a good time to link up so now I hardly play any.     So I started playing this series with Bad Company and instantly fell in love with the multiplayer. I loved the everbody has a role to play, teamwork focus, destructive environments, and the feeling that you where in a war. They continued to do well and peaked at Battlefield 3/4. Battlefield 1 they started going on a downward trend. Starting with this game they launch games with very little contact in regards to maps, weapons, and campaign. Even the multiplayer component seemed to loose there teamwork/role aspects that made Battlefield unique. Battlefield 5 they added hero shooter aspects to be more like other games instead of sticking to their uniqueness. Felt more and more like Call of Duty but there is already a Call of Duty. Stick to your history it's what made Battlefield a threat agaisnt Call of Duty. When they started the marketing for Battlefield 2042 they were saying all the right things and they got me hyped. Once again I was dissapointed. Hero shooter is still there, hardly any maps and the maps they have don't flow well, no weapons to choose from, and no campaign at all. I felt scammed since their marketing made it seem like they where going back to their old formula.

    This game has potential but they would have to make a lot of gameplay changes and add content which i doubt they'll do. There Aug 2022 announcement seemed like they are making some better decisions but I'll wait until i see it.    … Expand

    Coming from older battlefields like bad company 2, battlefield 3, and 4 this game is a major let down. The number of bugs is a joke and is unacceptable when you have so many studios working on one game. The lack of content is also another let down hardy any weapons, wide open maps, and no teamwork. If they want this game to success they should just add all of bf3 into portal or remove the specialist and go back to classes also add more weapons but this will probably never happen since they all got our money and will never give us a refund which is a shame because we were all pretty pumped for this game especially watching the trailers.     Um jogo claramente inacabado, era melhor ter adiado do que lançar de maneira porca,acredito que tenha potencial futuro como o BfV e Bf4 que lançou quebrado e foi melhorando, Bf1 o melhor dos últimos tempos falando em lançamento.

    What really attracted me was Portal and the BF3 maps and weapons that were coming together with it. And that's it. This game is objectively a complete disaster. It was released unfinished.     Essential features are being called "legacy" features that weren't implemented at all - scoreboard, VoIP, global chat, classes.
    A small variety of weapons just proves how rushed this game is.

    They've decided not to make singleplayer and focus on MP and it's still horrible. Who was in charge? Who designed the maps? UI is decent, except for the fact that most important features are missing.

    I'm looking forward to seeing what will DICE (et al.) do in their next BF installment. Hopefully, it'd be less of a disaster compared to BF2042.    … Expand

    This game is not even an Alpha version. So boring, frustrating and repetitive.. useless specialists, walking 5 mins to encounter the first enemy, so many bugs. I was so hyped by trailers for this game l, but the final result disappointed me so so much.

Currently it’s been about 5 months and the game has had no content, and is still glitchy. With content coming this summer I’ll probably start playing when that time comes.

    EDIT: Season 1 launch has been very good, game performs very good on PS5 and bugs are rare. Content was very small but it was high quality, I like playing through the battle pass and the content in that is also very quality stuff (some games have it worse). While the content from the store is quite pricy, they are in my opinion actually very cool (would like to see more army like skins though), I see a lot of people running around with skins from paid bundles so its must be the general perception too.

    I hope that the next season contains at least 2-4 maps, 2 vehicles (preferably jets) and over 4 weapons.    … Expand

    There is so much going wrong with this game, not even an introduction in the problems would fit in 5000 characters.
    But to sum it up: The game is full of bugs, almost unplayable and EA/Dice doesnt do anything about this. Its only getting worse.

    Aaaah this game, this game made me hate the whole franchise it literally gave me headaches. Flashing lights invisible walls and whatever. Bad shots registrations I never felt more betrayed by a company like now. Put 6 guns In the game make 4 **** maps and call it a AAA Title. And smack a high price on it...

    This game is barely playable. Extremely lacking in content. Bare open maps with no flow. Game was clearly not ready. Ea did no testing and released a half baked game. Wish i could get a refund.

    Battlefield 2042 se résume assez facilement. Ce n'est même pas le fait qu'il soit mauvais. C'est encore plus insidieux que ça.
    Je n'ai tout simplement jamais réussi à lancer le jeu en multi. Peu importe le mode. Et quand j'ai eu l'illusion de pouvoir accéder à un serveur, mon jeu à crashé et a fait redémarrer ma Série X.

    Fun game idea but extremely rough, your lucky if you find a match that's not already half over and if you do manage to get into one your most likely thrown on the losing side, then there's the option to disable cross platform which is pointless because you will never find a match and even with thousands of complaints the game developers once again are deciding to hide rather then fix their game

    Battelfield 3 (good), Battlefield 4 (great), Battelfield 1 (great), Battlefield V (awesome), Battlefield 2042 (Scam). How can you **** so badly after so many great games? I never write game reviews, but I went out of my way this time. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this piece of **** for the first time. You should totally refund people if you plan to survive this **** show of a game.

    Its not even that bad, I encountered like 2 bugs in 50 hours. Gameplay is pretty fun but I don't enjoy the game's main mode, conquest and ngl these maps sometimes feel too big.

Broken on so many levels that it doesn't even dignify further review. They had to give it away for 'free' to PS users just to get some numbers and guess what, a week later they all deleted it.     I was actually excited for this game. I had never played a Battlefield game in my life, but hot damn that trailer looked good. Turns out that's where all the money went. Out of my excitement, I bought Battlefield 1, sadly it wasn't active at the time. but the gameplay was great, graphics were flawless, and (i assume) the class system was incredible.     The bugs in 2042 were horrendous. Players couldn't go 3 feet without some **** happening on the screen that wasn't supposed to. Flying enemies, flying cars, sinking enemies, sinking cars, flickering lights, gun firing nerf darts, bad frame rates, not even being able to play the game, etc. That's not even scratching the surface. No, I wasn't even NEAR the surface. So much was wrong with the game, it baffles me that critics actually liked it at the time.

    I was expecting the class system to return like in EVERY BATTLEFIELD GAME EVER, but nah, specialists. Frickin' specialists. I didn't play BF1 long enough to experience it, but the class system is very important to Battlefield. Playing as an unnamed solider in all out warfare is an incredible experience. So, when the devs of their own game can't understand that specialists don't belong in a Battlefield game, yeah, it's time to quit your job. Because of specialists, everyone on each team looks exactly the same, like they couldn't be bothered to just make a few changes to character design. Abilities are good, and I would love them, if this wasn't a Battlefield game. Voice lines suck, and so on.

    Now, there's a lot more to talk about, but 2042 really, REALLY, doesn't deserve this much of a what would be a polished review. 2042 disappointed a lot of players that year, and despite these problems being somewhat fixed, specialists still suck, destruction sucks, and 2042 just... sucks. I ended up just getting Call of Duty: Vanguard that year, and, well, I wasn't pleased any better.    … Expand

    Instead I'll talk about what the game is now. I will say that much has improved and there is fun to be had but even after a break of several months it's only taken a couple of matches before the glaring problems drag me down. In one match I tried Lis as I wanted to see if her launcher was improved at all but immediately ran into a problem where whenever I fire her launcher the camera glitches and sticks to the ground pointing at my feet! After a brief search I find this problem has been going on for around 5 months. This is simply unacceptable to have a specialist's signature tool rendered unusable for that long. I also found this issue on another specialist that has the minigun turret as well as spawning into helicopters so it's a pretty major issue.

    The other disappointments are still present too - the weapons from earlier games have arrived but we were promised full customisation options but this hasn't fully materialised yet and many of these weapons from older games are just terrible as a result. One of the core game modes for the PS5 version had also been removed since launch - I got the game based on it having both of those 128 player modes so to have a feature removed that I paid to access feels like a real kick in the teeth.

    The fact this game launched with so many issues and still has so many game breaking bugs is an absolute scam. More protection for gamers and their money needs to be put in place around this kind of thing - if you bought any appliance and it didn't work as advertised you'd be able to get a refund within a pretty large window of time but 2 hours is ridiculous.

    Edit: I just wanted to add that although the specialists were incredibly cheesy and a poor attempt to appeal to the hero shooter fans it was still a kick in the teeth to have the flexibility they afforded removed. A large group of very vocal people voiced their dismay at the lack of the class system present in previous titles claiming that it was necessary for team play as people played the roles of the medic/engineer etc. Well now it's changed and guess what - bots are still more reliable and reviving you compared to human players so it wasn't about that at all. If somebody doesn't play the objective and just focuses on shooting then re-instating the class system will do nothing to change their playstyle as people do what they enjoy doing and that's fine. I used to like playing as Angel with a rocket launcher so I could provide a range of options from reviving, ammo packs, loadout drops and explosive damage so having that flexibility taken away for a to solve a problem it was never going to solve kinda sucked. As a result it now feels like a game with an identity crisis as it doesn't have a clue what it wants to be since everything is a fix on top of big change on top of yet another fix - it's like Jenga in a hurricane.

    I've been checking in on the game every month or two when there's been a few updates but I find myself feeling less and less likely to even bother. They created a game with way too many problems and still haven't been able to fix them all.    … Expand

    A truly disappointing "game", it is hardly a Battlefield title. EA/DICE really failed to deliver any features that made the past BFs fun and turned the franchise into a mere shell of its intentions. There is nothing in this "game" to even work towards, so don't waste your time.

    While the repetition and lack of content cooled my enthusiasm a bit, I am excited to see where DICE can take Battlefield 2042 from here — if current industry trends hold, I’m confident this will be a strong addition to my already-full shooter rotation after a few months of additions and updates.
