    The Last of Us was a phenomenal game from start to finish. It had a good overarching story and a theme. However, The Last of Us Part II lack anything that was established in the first entry. Furthermore, the game makes you follow a strict timeline that leaves you asking more questions than getting answers. The first entry had a nig dilemma and theme, sometjing the sequel lacked.     horrendous story line and indescribable amount of disappointment of the story. The graphics give it a 1 but you can't have a game with horrible plot. This is the equivalent of having a 3 course meal but the meals consist of a grain of rice for each. The story has no fulfillment. No satisfaction except that the game is over and I now will play the last of us remastered to bleach my eyes.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay and the story was fine. The reason why I chose to give this game a bad review is because of Naughty Dog's false advertising to make us believe that Joel was alive in their trailer with the fake scene with him.
    Joel being killed off is hardly an issue to me. If anything, they could obviously not be accused of fan service because of what they did and we could sympathize with Ellie's anger throughout most of the game. However, Naughty Dog obviously chose to change the story last minute and chose to kill him off after releasing a trailer showing Joel being alive and joining Ellie, which explains the multiple delays.
    Instead, what we have is Naughty Dog deceiving us with false advertising from their trailers and Neil Druckmann had the audacity to mock our massive negative reviews for the game.
    Even though I've heard that spoilers were released, I've chosen to avoid them, like how spoilers are occasionally released for other games, movies, and TV shows.
    Naughty Dog should be investigated by the FDA and should be sued for false advertising because I'm sure there are many of us who have chosen to not see the spoilers and who are also upset that Naughty Dog sold us a lie.    … Expand

    I don't believe any game is worth a 10/10 or a 0/10. There is no game that is absolutely perfect with no flaws nor is there a game that is absolute trash with nothing to like whatsoever. Having said that, i believe TLOU2 is a polarizing game, it will cater to those gamers who likes the gameplay first and doesn't care much for the story, while those that cares for the story will more thanI don't believe any game is worth a 10/10 or a 0/10. The sequel had a ton of potential to be great but it's like ND pushed aside the infestation filled narratives of the game and forced a revenge plot on the gamers that most people find dull and filled with plot holes. Obviously the graphics and other technical stuff was a vast improvement on the original but of course it came out years after the original, problem is, TLOU1 was a story-driven masterpiece of a game and the gameplay was secondary for people who experienced it, it was the story that has driven most of us to continue and see what will transpire next for Joel and Ellie, and then having the story fall flat on the 2nd game was for sure a massive disappointment for the people that has been waiting for the next chapter from the 1st game's main protagonists. i hope this serves as a lesson to ND, if you want to try new ideas on gaming, make it on a new game and don't force it on an already established title. The main character of the first game on the front cover of the last of us 1. Dies in the first 2 hours. The gameplay feels repetitive and slow. All that to make way for a stupid revenge arc that doesn’t work. Ellie really lets Abby get away scotch-free. Also Joel would never trust anyone that easily. Seven years for this garbage.     Why did it have to be like this. It had so much potential with the story, and to have it thrown away for what seems like some sort of "agenda" is terrible. Leave agendas like that behind and just make games that are entertaining, funny, fun to control, and with a good ending; not some statement.

    To put it simply, this is NOT a good game. While the graphics are amazing and the gameplay, if you liked the first games gameplay, is good, the story is just so maddeningly bad,    This game, man...     To put it simply, this is NOT a good game. While the graphics are amazing and the gameplay, if you liked the first games gameplay, is good, the story is just so maddeningly bad, that it doesnt matter how good the combat is because i cant enjoy this game at all after a certain moment in the beginning of the story. Im sure yall already know what happened, but im not about to spoil it. I dont expect EVERY game to have perfectly written dialogue, perfect acting, or perfect characters, but this game does something with its main story that has and always will be unforgivable. It ruins the first game. So, if you liked the first game because of Joel and Ellies relationship, then avoid this game like the plague. But if you dont care about that, which is kind of weird since that was what the first game was all about, then i...guess...give this a try? Anyways, its a solid 3/10 for me.     I am not here to review bomb, nor do my criticism have ANYTHING to do with the LGBTQ+ representation. Matter of fact, the world benefits from this and it gives it a much more real authentic feel.

    But, this game breaks my heart for all the wrong reasons. Literally. I was such a fan of the first, and sunk hours into it. But, this story is so bad, and it requires you to do SO much that    I am not here to review bomb, nor do my criticism have ANYTHING to do with the LGBTQ+ representation. Matter of fact, the world benefits from this and it gives it a much more real authentic feel.

I also wasn't a huge fan of LoU1 either because it also felt very bland gameplay wise. A decent story and amazing graphics can't save this game from it's bland gameplay and constant dark tone. If they had more hopeful moments the game would be much higher on my rating scale, however it doesn't. As such I feel a 4/10 is a perfect spot. The game is below average in all respects other than graphics, and that's what makes me disappointed in it.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Really waited 7 years to play as Joel for about 5ish minutes, watch him get cucked, then play as Ellie for around half of the game. Then proceed to try to connect to Abby, a psychopath that the game really wants you to get attached to, and a child with no personality, and all of her **** friends for **** 5-6 hours while I really just want to get back to playing as Ellie, the person I payed to play as. Then get forced to try to kill Ellie while playing as Abby. I mean seriously? This game really wants me to be connected enough to a dry, unlikable character to the point where I am willing to beat the **** out of one of my favorite characters of all time. What a **** joke. The weird part of the game is though, is that there are really stellar, standout moments. The one that immediately comes to mind is Ellie's birthday museum visit, which is so well written that it really feels like something out of The Last Of Us 1. It's like all of the talented writers exclusively worked on the flashback scenes.

    It baffles me how a game with such a weak and unsatisfyingly plot and ending can also have really great moments ( and they all pretty much happen exclusively between Joel and Ellie). Maybe it was a bad Idea to kill off Joel right away.

    The ending is extremely weak and underwhelming, having the wimpiest fight between a hurt Ellie and a malnourished Abby. After challenging Abby to fight, Ellie stupidly puts her fingers in Abby's mouth, causing Ellie to have 2 fingers to be bitten off. Then she let's Abby go. What was the whole point of going to find Abby then?

    What a horrible ending for Ellie's character. She made it clear that she doesn't want to end up alone in TLOU1, and ends up losing Joel, Dina, and Jesse's Baby (Potato was his name I think).
    She isn't even able to carry one Joel's memory via the Guitar, as she can't play it due to her missing fingers.
    And worst of all, after all of that she just **** let's Abby live,

    What's the moral of this story? Murdering hundreds of people is a-okay except for if you're seeking revenge? I don't **** know.

    Extremely disappointing to see large media outlets blame these low user ratings on people being "Trans-phobic, Homophobic, or Sexist" to distract the facts that this game is nowhere near the quality of the first game.

    A damn **** shame.

    I feel more bad for people who didn't see the spoilers because they are so amped up for the game. I mean amped! As we once all were till we saw these storylines and cut scenes. Oof those poor unsuspecting fans.

    Bad story and the game is more and the same.

    Gameplay and visuals:
    The sequel nicely builds on top of the gameplay of the first game and adds some nice new features like 'squeeze-throughs', prone, dodge mechanic alongside new crafting recipes like suppressors and explosives arrows and a bunch of other meaningful upgrades that give a nice sense of progression. When in stealth, there definitely is a sense of tension sure, but it never truly feels enjoyable. Stealth kill animations are long and drawn out and quite cumbersome. In this part, the game relies on the sense of tension to keep you engaged. However, when things go sideways, that's where the gameplay shines, because then the tension and anxiety is dialled to 11. You have to evade and flee your enemies, or choose to engage them in firefights and fistfights which all feels incredibly grounded and visceral. It's a hell of an adrenaline kick.
    However, if you thought the gameplay of the first game was alright, you'll find the gameplay of the second game an improvement, but not something that will change your mind.

    Overall, the gameplay loop itself can range from being mediocre to highly engaging at times, but it best serves the purpose of complementing the game's grounded nature, and to bring forward the brutality of the violence you experience. Unlike other people claiming 'this game makes you feel bad for killing people', I did not feel that at all. The way the NPCs and AI interacts only serves to keep the game grounded and feel realistic, but it never evoked any sympathy from me towards them nor the dogs that I had to put down.
    The graphics are phenomenal as always, the animations are just absolutely mind-blowing, the environment this time is much larger and varied; basically, the production value of this game is insane.

    Now, the story.
    The story is one of the biggest dumpster fire I have ever seen. Neil Druckmann manages to do an astounding disservice to our beloved characters from the first game, whilst simultaneously abandoning everything that made the first game so amazing. The characters themselves are uninteresting, even though they have some great voice acting, their motives and behaviour at times borderline being insane and completely unstable. Any character that you end up liking in the slightest, suffers a terrible fate.
    This game just feels dark and depressing for no reason, it has no meaning other than making you feel bad needlessly. Unlike the first game which, although was also quite bleak, there were genuine moments of warmth and solace, moments that were heart-warming, peaceful, and that allowed for some beautiful character development. Speaking of which, it's almost impossible to find any real character development in this game.

    After Joel is killed like a dog by Abby, Ellie sets out to get her revenge, to find the WLF soldiers that played a part in his murder and take them down. Joel's death was handled so poorly, and executed in a way that was so appalling, that it is equivalent to spitting in the face of the fans of the first game.
    Oh but that's not all, soon, you'll be sending a sizeable amount of the game controlling Abby, experiencing her past as well as the present. The game desperately wants to make you empathise with her character, but it falls so pathetically flat and on the contrary, just enrages you even more. By the end of my time playing as her, I couldn't give a rat's ass about her or her friends.

    To make matters worse, when Ellie finally has a chance to kill Abby, she lets her go. I get that the game is trying to say that Ellie is fed up and traumatised by her quest of revenge, but it just comes up as stupid writing, considering Abby wouldn't have minded in caving Ellie's face in. So, in the end, it really was all for nothing.
    By the end, not only is Ellie left traumatised, she loses Dina, as well her connection to Joel.

    The flashbacks with Joel, are the best part of this game. When a dreaded narrative device such as a flashback outshines everything else in your game, that is only evident of the horrible writing and story of the game.

    For a game that is so heavy on its narrative, and cinematic storytelling, a horrible story cannot be saved by its gameplay, which is this game has gotten such a low score from me.

    This game is the proof that The Last of Us should have remained a stand-alone experience. Its funny how the first game, despite telling such a personal story of its characters, managed to leave the audience pondering over a much grander theme of humanity and survival, whereas the second game, whilst trying to do so much, conveys a contrived, overdone theme of 'cycle of revenge' (and that too extremely poorly).

    Joel and Ellie were undoubtedly the heart and soul of this franchise, and this game manages to obliterate both of these things.

    Most would have preferred a story focusing more on characters of the first game, and this would have been the safe bet by Naughty Dog, but they chose to take the game in this direction, so we have to take the game for what it is.

    If you are able to look at the game the way it is presented to us, there is a good story underneath it all. The presentation of that story leaves much to be desired, but it is still possible to accept that story as it is, and see it for what it ends up being.    … Expand

Con un comienzo que ilusiona con su jugabilidad que es increíble sus gráficas que demuestran un gran trabajo por parte de Naughtydog la cuál hace ver si dedicación a el y la calidad del estudio con un mundo de una de mis franquicias favoritas una que me hizo mas de 20 veces pasarlo de todas formas y no solo eso fue el primer juego que entrego unos personajes tan memorables tan tan impactantes en todas sus estampas una historia magnífica incluso superando a todo lo que había jugado hasta ese momento .
    Con esa ilusión ese hype incluso con las supuestas filtraciones y aclaraciones del estudio mantenía esa euforia por el este gran titulo.
    Pero llegó ese horrible momento en el que sin más sin nada nos dan la muerte más triste y sin sentido de Joel pero me explico (COMO DIABLOS ALGUIEN QUE ES EL PERSONAJE MAS FRIO CALCULADOR QUE ESTUVO EN LOS DOS LADOS PUDO LLEGAR A SER LA PERSONA MAS AMABLE DEL MUNDO?) Cómo pudo ser esto y ok es el caso cambio por qué estando en Jackson se ablando x, pero estos WOLFS torturaron a JOEL tenían miedo de que los siguiesen por qué dejan vicios a Ellie y a Tommy ( es que se tentaron el corazón por que solo querían a JOEL) en Seattle atrapan a Ellie y la tienen ya para matarla y se pone a discutir algo que se supone que es obvio? QUE VANA VENGARSE POR JOEL.
    Bueno es que tenían razón para así ver cuantos más no se hay muchos fallos.
    Que solo resaltan esa muerte a lo tonto y apresurada de este el y no me vengan con que su muerte nos quiere retratar la muerte de una persona x.
    Cuando es un icono de VÍDEOJUEGOS, bueno nos quieren enseñar que los actos que hacemos nos siguen siempre. Ok lo entiendo pero por qué no poner esa muerte al final o en media historia ? Al final ? Hubiese sido un final excelente su muerte y creo que nos hubiese enseñado más ese punto que se supone que nos quieren dar a entender que siempre nuestros actos tienen repercusiones.

    Joel is emptied and used explicitly just as a plot device, the character and interactions are bad, with absence of a good development, there's plotholes, some scenes and dialogues feel too forced, the writing tries to make you sympathize with the main antagonist, which would not be a problem if did right, and guess it? It fails at it. The ending is the worst part of it, cause it just throws everything out the window, it's not coherent with the character, it's not coherent with anything, it's all forced for the sake of the message (and it could've been done in a lot of consistent ways.

    The game don't really have a "SJW agenda", but as a result of the previous talked bad character interactions, these things feel really forced and unnatural as well, take as example a moment when Ellie and Dina have sex. You can feel that scene is so unnaturally written and in a bad scenario. I don't think the diversity was forced, but it definitely wasn't handled well.

    The Last of Us Part II had a incredible amount of wasted potential, it's a spit on the face of TLOU fans and any people who knew the potential of this sequel. Neil Druckmann shows he's a terrible writer, and i would blame just him for this disappointment, but Naughty Dog is not innocent, manipulating reviews and false advertising the plot in the trailers. This game is not worth buying, unless you want to play it not caring about the story (which i doubt, it's TLOU).    … Expand

After experiencing the last of us 2 it not only makes you appreciate the first game more but it gives you a a sense of clarity when you realise the main writer departed with ND. Seems like the people that worked on part 2 didn’t have a clue what made the first game heartfelt and special. Even then you can’t completely criticise from it’s subjective problems, there are people still enjoying the game. Loopholes and Amateur Writing are the forefront of this games’ problem. Why didn’t Abby and her group kill Ellie and Tommy when they had the chance, no witnesses, less issues. Abby had no problem killing random people so what makes Ellie so special. Why did Joel allow himself to get ambushed so easily with Tommy. The disrespect shown to both Tommy and Joel symbolises why the game is receiving the hate that it is. People love to paint the “haters” as crybaby’s and homophobes, Joel’s death was not the problem, the problem was HOW it happened. There have been many games with LGBTQ representation that have been user reviewed in the highest regard. The fanboys have less and less ammo now that the game is out, the leaks were the whole truth and it doesn’t hold up as a good sequel. Not much to say about visuals, the game is beautifully well done, puzzles have really made me appreciate the gameplay.… Expand

    Gameplay feels old and tanky. The open enviroments feel empty and unnecessary compared to the tightness and intelligent world building of the first game. They add some new elements to combat and exploration but not enough to make it feel fresh or interesting.

    This game is so depressing. The characters just moan and complain and are always sullen. There's no emotional payoff to either new or returning characters. An early scene is so needlessly cruel, callous, and undeserved from a storytelling perspective, that there's just no excitement to continue, only dread and a wonder at what horrible thing will happen next.

    In the first game, when Joel made certain decisions, there was a grey area, room to debate the ethics of his decisions because Joel did those things out of his connection to Ellie that was developed slowly during the entire game. The game was heavy and serious at times, but with room for punny jokes, lighthearted banter, and quiet moments of wonder. During key emotional scenes throughout that game, we always empathized because we had an emotional attachment to the characters (whether positive or negative) through good storytelling and build up.

    The story crescendos and climaxes in the sequel are shallow and undeserved compared to the storytelling that leads up to them. Characters sometimes make decisions seemingly just to shock the player, rather than basing them in logic or the personality of the character that makes them. I felt no connection to the new characters, and only a weird sympathy for returning characters, wondering what made them so dull and lifeless during the time between the two games.

    The early parts of the story (except the very first gorgous scene during the opening credits) do nothing to get the player excited to go on another adventure in this universe, and never improves. It's a slog with no enjoyment or payoff. It's like the developer just wanted to make us feel bad and hopeless and depressed.

    As a huge fan of the 1st game, this is such a letdown after so much anticipation.    … Expand

The gameplay was familiar, yet modern with new features, weapons and tools to use, as well as the new dodge feature. I feel as though the story was fantastic, with character development and interesting plot points scattered in the best places. Admittedly the death at the start upset a little, but unlike most people apparently, I saw it as a device which gives our protagonist a reason to do what she does. The antagonist was amazing, and by the end I liked her just as much as Ellie herself. I dont understand why this game is being reviewed so poorly. As a fan of the first game, I thought this was an entirely worthy successor and a beautiful and emotional end to a fantastic story arc.… Expand

    There is a scene inside the game where Ellie give a memorable speech about the internal strength and resiliance she has. This spoke to me. I come from a family of polish refugees. I then later found out the game wont let you shoot anything semetic related. This is a disgusting method and subtracts from her previous statement.

    On its own it is a mediocre third person shooter with barebones stealth elements and one button combat. It is poorly paced and downright nonsensical at points. As a follow up to the original, it is a slap in the face. Beloved characters are butchered in a manner akin to fanfiction. If you enjoyed the first one, do not play this.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
