    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am actually on my run for the first part but seeing “that scene” on the part 2 made me lost my appetite to continue the game. This game just loses it context on character building and story-telling. I would have accepted “that scene” for the protagonist but playing another character and making the other protagonist an enemy is no longer acceptable at least to say the least Graphics and Gameplay are a notch but story wise and character plots nah. I wished the story would have been more of Ellie than playing Abby who came out of nowhere to avenge his dad everyone lose their loved ones. I just felt that the story could have been better like focusing on finding the cure without Ellie dying. I’m done with this game but thanks Naughty dog for disappointing your fans.… Expand

    I’ve played a little bit of the first game enough to get attached to the characters and understand the plot. That being said, I just finished watching the play through of this game and I gotta say, the controls look super clunky(not much of a change from the first), there were a bunch of plot holes, and the story was just terrible.     And it has all the stuff we loved from the first game, the crafting of weapons, molotov cocktails, first aid kits.

    The scarse resources and ammo make it a struggle to play. And it is extremely satisfying

If you wanna make a smart decision, save your money for upcoming other AAA titles, that probably wont disappoint you as much as this precious piece of garbage.     I played The last of us 1 two days before The last of us 2 was released. I loved the first one and was so excited for the second one.

    The thing that made this game bad for me was the story when the last of us 1 had such an amazing story. Naugthy dog are known for making good stories and they did not show that.

    It was sad that they destroyed The last of us 1 with the last of us 2. I dont recommend paying full price for this game.

Naughty Dog has already carved their names into gaming history with their consistent story-driven single-player games, but this one feels uncharacteristic of previous titles. They experiment with new things and new characters, but overall it turns into a story that feels lackluster with characters who I struggle to identify with. They take interesting steps to help represent the LGBT community which is totally fine, but this kind of writing just makes them look bad.

    The performances themselves are top-notch, but the writing itself is strange. Naughty Dog just drops you four to five years into the future after the first game and you're immediately introduced to a plethora of characters. Unfortunately, we never see these characters develop much through the course of the game - most of their already-established friendship is just through a few lines of dialogue regarding their past. Every time Ellie and Dina run through a few lines of dialogue together, I'm stuck wondering "who is this person, and why do I care about her?"

    I got to see Joel and Ellie's characters bloom naturally in the original game, but this one blindsides you and forces you to engage with their dull characters. Ellie and Dina's relationship doesn't seem well-written at all; if I had gotten a chance to see their previous encounters (other than what was shown in the trailer) I think I would warm up to their relationship more. The story isn't really shown to us; rather, it's told to us through exposition-ish dialogue.

    Another thing with the characters are they seem so...different from the first game. Their personalities have completely changed to the point it sticks out like a sore thumb; you're left wondering "why did she do this?" or "why would he befriend this person?" I don't feel motivated to protect one of the newer characters introduced. With every death of my companion, I feel less and less interested in the character being killed.

    The pacing is bearable at times, but a lot of it cuts off with flashbacks and more exposition. I don't get the structure of the game; it is being far too ambitious and telling multiple stories with multiple characters at once, and attempting to solve all of their characters' story arcs within one game. It invites plot-holes and the story becomes a mess. There are way too many characters being introduced and killed off without seeing their arc complete.

    I don't watch things naturally unfold in this game - things just happen. Rather than see someone get into a fight that leaves two characters bitter about one another, a side character just talks to me about it to make me understand. Ellie's personality is so jarringly different without much rhyme of reason other than "it happened years later, so she's changed" explanation. There's this jarring disconnect between player and Ellie that takes you out of the immersion instantly.

    The gameplay isn't bad however, as almost every component from the original is improved upon. There's a new prone mode that allows me to crawl on the floor. Breaking glass and upgrading guns are satisfying. It's fun to get into these sequences where you need to sneak around an area full of infected. Running from them still gets the adrenaline pumping. The challenge is still there and it's still as fresh as ever.

    Exploration can be a chore at times. Big areas with empty spaces - that kinda jazz like Ubisoft.

    Unfortunately, due to Naughty Dog developing a game that is so story-centric, they put all of their chips on story rather than the gameplay, and it just doesn't feel right. None of these characters were written well; it's a run-of-the-mill revenge story between two factions that ultimately boils down to a bland game with zombie portions. There's plot-holes everywhere and it doesn't seem like the well-crafted game we've come to expect from Naughty Dog. Why should I play the game again if I don't care about the characters? I can see the strong bond between Joel and Ellie, but I don't see or feel the bond between Ellie and Dina, or even Ellie and her friends for that matter. I roll my eyes whenever new characters get upset.or sad.

    The game takes no step forward in exploring the actual dystopian world with the Infected. Instead, it opts to create an army of uninteresting, boring characters with their own internal issues, and tries to suture them up in one 25-30 hour long game. The story is uninspiring and is one of those cliche revenge stories you've seen a million times over.

    I do regret buying it at full-price. I'd save your money. If it were on sale for $19.99, maybe I'd consider picking it up. I don't think this kind of quality lives up to fans' expectations.

    We waited 7 years to get some Agenda thrown at us. The characters dont act at all like in the first game, not because they grown as a character but because the story wants them to. This game is the worst stuff I played in the last five years.

    I don't know what to say about this game. When i played the last of us back in 2013 i was also watching the Game of Thrones. You guys may call me stupid on this comparison but i used to say Neil Druckmann is R.R. Martin of games. Because it was so beautiful that i had changed my views about how a good game should be. I am not from a very wealthy family my father was a school teacher and to earn better living he was part time home tutor. The people he used to teach were landlords and very wealthy. When i was graduate i became tutor to those kid's kids. , i used to see kids playing PS2 and i was fascinated by its graphics. i was fan of games since i was 7 years old. Big fan of KOF. My financial condition did not allow me to buy it but still after saving money I bought PS2. Played many games but one day I brought The God Of War. Oh my god what a game that was. I played 1st and 2nd . Now i was waiting for 3rd part. But unfortunately Part 3 was released on PS3 and i was way beyond my buying power furthermore there was no chance of buying pirated copy. So i watched entire game on Youtube. What a game that was !!!! what a game ... So I once again saved enough money Bought PS3 only to play God of War 3. and first game i bought was God of War 3. No matter i knew entire gameplay and story. But it was so good that i baugh it for $50.
    But as for the last of us 2 i admit i spoiled the game for me right when leaks were out. I still watched entire gameplay. I search for even a little bit thing that would force me to buy this game. But i didn't find anything apart from some very tensed moments.
    1st time Ellie goes kills everyone who never wanted Joel dead they were only ready to go because abby was there friend. Comes back home with broken nose, Jesse dead and Tommy's leg broken and losing one eye.
    2nd Time Ellie goes all the way killing people to kill her right when I was at my orgasm she left her hand and let abby go.

    If you guys are following the walking dead. People are trying to go back to their normal life by developing things. They are not only being savages or cannibals. But in the last of us 2 we didn't see hope in any one's mind that he will try to make world as it was before. You only 2 factions. many things could have been done to make this game playable or i should say buyable but you keep watching stupidity after stupidity. For eg. instead of unnecessary flash backs they could develop a gameplay of Tommy. We wouldn't mind playing as Joel's brother after watching how badass sniper he is. Shooting the guy in the head, who spits on Joel was so satisfying but it would have been more satisfying if it were we playing as Tommy. But no!! Mr Neil wanted the girls to handle the Job. But unfortunately his girls failed horrendously. Neil Should know to get a baby (Outcome) he need a dick with vagina there will be no outcome if two girls will be rubbing their Viginas with each other.    … Expand

    The story falls apart since Joel's death. A series of events begins without sense but with a clear objective, revenge. A revenge that will never happen because Naughty Dogs decided to teach us a lesson, revenge is not good, going to play the guitar is better than killing your '' father '' murderer. The problem is that time lapse between Joel's death and the journey to hunt Abby, it doesn't make sense. Everything we do until we reach Abby is meaningless because we did not meet our goal. Everything we kill on the long road does not make any sense, the behavior of the characters is unreal. I can't understand why Ellie doesn't kill Abby, I'm still looking for the answer.
    Speaking of Abby there is no point in her inclusion in the saga. Literally in this game the protagonists are women, we play with women all the time and we play with Abby, the game forces us to play with Abby and give it undeserved power and prominence.
    The missions between scenes are totally unnecessary and long to realize that the story goes from bad to worse.

    The in-game action is minimal and static, the infected are there for you to take your time killing them add nothing to the story.     Even if you have passed the game ask for a refund, I sincerely believe that players deserve a refund when they don't like it and absolutely can't like anything about the game. The only good thing it has are the graphics. But no one wants to pay that much money for a walk-on-the-grass simulator.
    Each video game development company has the right to develop their own video game as they wish.     The game is full of forced in agendas and they really over do it. You can approach these topics in a different way, but ND chose to do it in the most artificial/down your throat    Splitting the 10 points between Gameplay and Story, I would give this a 5 out of 5 for the Game itself and 0 for the story.

    I have seen many people leaving their opinions on the game and have decided to share my own, after playing it. Visually, the game looks absolutely fantastic, the first game has nothing on this ones graphics.

    However, cracks start to show when you actually pay attention to the story, it is weak at best. The gameplay from the first game, was improved with more mobility, a new "skill tree", greater combat, new and enhanced enemy type and more. Now to the story. I will say that the story is not asFirst of all. The graphics, is some of the best out on the ps4. From the beautiful outdoors at Jacksons, to the dark apartment buildings in Seattle. It's just as breathtaking, as the first game. The gameplay from the first game, was improved with more mobility, a new "skill tree", greater combat, new and enhanced enemy type and more. The thing that I liked about the story is the cruel things the characters experience and they are not shy to show us some graphic scenes. The jaw was dropped allot. But the problem with the story is the characters. They just feet.... wrong. I really don't know what it is, but they just felt wrong. The first chapter of the game felt compelling and emotionel, but after that, the story kind of went in all directions and the ending felt kind of rused. Still the game was allot of fun, and I hope that there will be som dlc to the game, or even som sort of multiplayer.… Expand

Played and finished the first one like seven times which means I, like any other true fan built a bond, a relationship with Joel and Ellie. So, when the second game brutally destroyed Joel in front of Ellie, I accepted it in the beginning because it does build a strong story/plot. Where i changed my mind and did not agree on however, is when we had to play as Abby. The lady who killed Joel like he was thrash and especially in the end when Ellie let Abby go without killing her after the look that Joel gave Ellie right before Abby smashed his head in. How can a true fan just let that go. I honestly dont give a rats behind on what happened to Abbys dad nor do i care about any of her friends who had a part to do with Joels death, if it was up to me, kill them all. "You are pregnant?: BAM! You have a family? BAM! Awh you love each other, BAM! What i am saying is, i would have cared more about Abby and the group if all they did was beat Joel to a coma but he still lived, then the ending would have been wayyy more understanding and acceptable. Killing Joel was a huge dissapointment especially since we have to play Abby in the second act, all i know is i will never ever play this game again. Naughty dog basically ruined it for me. To start off the fans would have been so much happier if Joel had died another way, in TLOU2 he dies after saving abby who then goes on to golf club his head in, people would've been happier if he died around mid game giving ellie and dina time to run from WLF, and the whole revenge story could have been that they killed a group of innocent families including children in the crossfire in an attempt to kill joel but it goes wrong and they scrambled for Seattle, letting u play as JOEL and ELLIE chasing them down not letting u play as abby once. Gameplay is seamless and friendly. Melee combat is made easier with the dodge button although it is easily abused and takes the fun and tension during close encounters. Voice acting and motion capture is also great. It helps make the characters believable and real.

    Now with the negative. The story is an absolute letdown compared to the first game. Killing off one of the main protagonists that players loved and doing it in a very disrespectful way. Players then take off in a mission for revenge and halfway throughout the story, the game forces you to take on the perspective of the killer just so it can desperately try to make you symphatize with her reasons and justify her actions.
    Naughty Dog also seems to have a misguided belief that a long game would mean a great game. This is entirely false as the game is so exhaustingly dragged on to no end, making simple fetch quests into a long tiring gameplay where you constantly venture into buildings or bridges again and again and again. Making the trip to finish the game an absolute chore.

    In the end, TLOU2 is a failed attempt to introduce a strong female character in a very generic revenge plot that feels like a completely different game slapped with a familiar title just so it would sell copies. It is a sad excuse of a sequel with no satisfying closure and should've spent more time in the drawing board.    … Expand

    Ok, so I took some time thinking about this. Played it, listened to views and what others had to say and I can't help but think there was so much wasted potential with this game. The usual things are true; the graphics are fantastic, the voice acting is great, and the environments are breath-taking. Unfortunately, then we get to the story and the characters. The Last of Us Part 2 isn't asOk, so I took some time thinking about this. Played it, listened to views and what others had to say and I can't help but think there was so much wasted potential with this game. The usual things are true; the graphics are fantastic, the voice acting is great, and the environments are breath-taking. Unfortunately, then we get to the story and the characters. The Last of Us Part 2 isn't as much of a game as it is a walking simulator with a few shooting sections and exposition based cutscenes. The levels exist as collectathons in between cutscenes which provide the entire plot. Whilst I appreciate the time and effort placed into trying to create a new story with serious consequences it falls flat at nearly every hurdle. We all know of the certain events which happened within the first few hours of the game with a certain character called Abby. We are then forced to play well over half the game as Abby learning about her backstory in the hope we feel sorry for them and it somehow makes us likes them. Sorry Naughty Dog but we hate Abby. You positioned her in such a way that you doomed her character from the state to be hated by all players. Would have been much more impactful to have the whole game happen and then Abby take out Joel, that way we would have already formed a bond with the new character making the end result more shocking. Furthermore, the ending is weak, almost a cop-out. Like ND couldn't find a good way to finish it so they didn't. After killing her way across the US and having remorse for no-one and seeing her friends and family killed along the way Ellie decides to let Abby live. Whilst some may see this as character development, it just makes the last 20-30 hours of gameplay worthless. Would be the equivalent of John Wick letting the man who killed his dog go after murdering literally everyone. There was so much potential for this game, so many avenues they could have taken, but this felt lacklustre and just didn't live up to it's own hype. Not to mention the part of the game you do get to play become incredibly tedious and monotonous very quickly. Run, walk, loot, walk, run, shoot, stab, walk, loot, run, all followed by nearly 10 hours of cutscenes. I feel as though if they were to keep the same story arc, It would have been beneficial to get to know and play with Abby before she did the unspeakable and then we were forced to play as her. Or the game would have been better if it had followed a different set of protagonists all together leaving Joel and Ellie alone. As a cinematic experience its amazing, as a game it is ok, as a sequel and a conclusion to one of the most anticipated stories in video game history. It's not good. It get a 4 just because the story is weak, characters are unlikeable and unrecognisable in some instances and the ending feels like they didn't know what to do so they did nothing. Hopefully will serve as a lesson to these AAA developers that if you mess with the characters people love, it won't end well and people won't like it. The main positive i'll give this game is that it is not afraid to kill off major characters in throw away scenes, but it does mean we just don't care about any of them.… Expand

The Last of us 2 in my eyes is actually The Last of us 3 in my opinion because the actual sequel fans wanted started off with the Joel segment at the beginning of the game and the game we actually wanted took place in that 4 year time gap between the first game and the 2nd game. We always expected Joel to die at some point in the series but we expected it in the 3rd game or at least 10 hours into the sequel but instead he dies an hour into the game and because of that fans are pissed and to be honest I think Naughty Dog should go back and take their time and really put effort into writing the game that takes place in those 4 years and release that and call it The Last of us 2 then they should change this game to The Last of us 3 and update the ending to have two choices if you Decide to kill Abby and get your revenge you get the sad ending where Ellie is alone but if you let Abby go then Ellie gets the Happy ending and gets to be with Dina and in this game that takes place within that 4 years they could actually explore Abby's character and show that she actually cares about people and the only thing she's angry over and wants revenge for is because Joel killed her father it would also introduce the characters on Abby's side more dynamically so it doesn't feel like these characters popped up out of nowhere and also fans would get the sequel they wanted even though they might not like the way The Last of us 2 went and this would fix a lot of that at least I think it would.… Expand

The game has incredible looks, the playability is awesome (even though some bugs), but i have too say that the story is most disappointing thing of the game. the story goes in a try-hard way, it pretends to be realistic but fails being to predictable and convenient. The trailer is a lie for the users because it showed that Joel would had a more interesting use in the plot. everyone though that Joel would join Ellie in the story, and probably would be killed in an advanced part of the story, but sadly you just looked for an easy, illogical and convenient situation to kill him in the beginning of the game. The game also fails introducing a lot of forgettable characters, that don't even have a good character development through the story. this make the game and story feel boring.
    The end feels incredibly weird, it is confusing and not corresponding the plot of hate and revenge, there is no development of the character to tell there is a mind change, but Ellie in the whole game just tried to kill and take revenge, but not thinking about mercy.    … Expand

    The gameplay was very good anyway, the new mechanics added fine to the game. we got more exploration zones, some kinda very easy puzzles, and big scenaries. However was a little bit repetitive fighting against humans, or undeads, again and again

    Conclusion: Don't waste 60 euros on this, please...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I can not begin to explain how upset and disappointed I am with this game. I played the last of us (part 1) back in 2014. I fell in love with the story and characters. It was in my top 3 favorite games. The first game was so well made, story and graphics. People have been waiting 7 years for this game. I’m pretty sure everyone had high expectation. I definitely did. The graphics of the game are completely outstanding and they put a lot of detail into it. I will not discredit that. The story is the most disappointing part. There could have been so many different outcomes to the story. I think that they pick the worse one. The players that have been here since the beginning; who have a emotional connection to the characters and story, understand why. The fact that Joel died is already heartbreaking, he didn’t need too. What makes me the most upset is that, they didn’t even give him a meaningful death. The death only happened to set up a plot. Which isn’t even a good plot. What makes it even worse is that the advertising/trailers for the game made it seem like Joel was not going to die and be a completely different story. I wish they would have done it completely different. I am not a bot. These are my true feelings on the game. I feel like most people would agree too.… Expand

    Environments are some of, if not the best visually seen on the PS4. Anything less than a 10 in the area is unacceptable in Naughty Dogs eyes. Story is the most divided between fans of the first game. The first game is my favourite of all time. I understand why many don’t like the choices ND made in this game. But that doesn’t make it not good. Obviously none of us want Joel to die. But we get great moments during flashbacks that continue to flesh out Joel and Ellie as real people and their relationship.

    People complain saying Ellie was out for too much hate, well guess what I wanted to go and kill Abby and her friends for what happened to Joel so why wouldn’t Ellie?

    Change of perspective. Many people hate Abby simply for the act of killing Joel and I get that, but you have to ride out the storm here. Playing as Abby gives some of the best parts TLOU2 has to offer. Can’t say that ND didn’t go bold here as they always do. Love or hate Abby finally getting to play and feel the antagonist side of the story is fresh in games. I will say that once the switch happens I did feel I was away from Ellie a little too long. Summary. The is a visual and technically masterfully crafted game. Love or hate the story this tale grips from all sides. The Last of Us held nothing back. The Last of Us 2 takes it way further. Joel dies because guess what he was a bad guy just like the rest of the world. That’s not a reason to make review this game 1. The masterfully crafted and that’s what makes this game a 10.    … Expand

    Being a die hard fan of the original game I feel nothing but anguish, misery and a sense of betrayal having completed part 2.

    I refuse to regard this game as a sequel as it does nothing but self destruct the amazing story that the first game had ended with. Having played majority of Naughty Dogs games all the way back from Crash Bandicoot, this surely has to be the worst release that    Being a die hard fan of the original game I feel nothing but anguish, misery and a sense of betrayal having completed part 2.

    Firstly I don't have or played the game, just watched few hours of cut-scenes, and read most of the story arc and based on that I'd call this game the Disney SW equivalent of video games. It has great breathtaking visuals but that's it. Nonsensical character behavior. Joel would never give away his real name or have himself locked in a room with strangers!     It’s the best game ever made , hatters should be shame on themselves, probably Xbox and pc gamers with jealous.... I don’t care if it’s on PlayStation, Xbox, switch or pc , I care about games , and this one it’s the best so far , congratulations to naughty dog ....

    PS: the game is worse than the final Game of Thrones

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
