This game is good for a couple of hours the story is decent but the one problem I have with this game that gives it a 7 is that you play as Abby for a half the game or less and you don’t even like her first you play as her when killing Joel in front of Ellie and later on in the story the game try’s to make you like her and every time I play as her I just want to quit I take a look on YouTube to see if anybody likes her in any of their walkthrough and nobody wants to play her and just can’t wait to play Ellie again… Expand

    Good job on the game system design, really a good experience in exploring and fighting.
    But the story sucked.
    I don’t understand why the story writer wants to destroy the lovely relationship of father and daughter. I do understand that the story needs Joel’s death, but in this ridiculous way? Tortured to death? Also, why the story made Eille so hate her “father”? Even though Joel against    Good job on the game system design, really a good experience in exploring and fighting.

While gameplay received better animations and such, it mostly remained the exact same and becomes monotonous and predictable over the 25+ hour story. While it’s not bad, you'd hope for a much bigger upgrade or overhaul of crafting and other gameplay mechanics, but many remained completely untouched. But the gameplay isn’t what causes this game to be a failure in my opinion, because that’s not what people really play TLOU for anyways. People play for the characters and story, which is nothing short of disappointing and misguided in this game. The utter lack of respect toward previous or even new characters prevents the player from getting invested in them, and the game fails to utilize the one relationship the player was already invested in going into the game. Instead they demolish that relationship, and never really show it getting back to anything of what it used to be. Most other characters in this game are stagnant and replaceable, and while they have good performances, fail to make me care about them in a meaningful way. That is, until they get brutally murdered on a quest for revenge. By the end of the game I was so numb to violence nothing shocked me anymore, and I’m not sure what the game was even trying to say through all this violence and misery. What I do know is that I feel devastated for Ellie and deep hatred for another character. I truly hope Naughty Dog lets this franchise die in the pit they dug for it. I absolutely loved the first game, but this train wreck wants me to feel depressed for nothing. Some of the lessons it tries to teach seem so stupidly simple I asked myself if I was even hearing it right. All I can hear now is the ringing in my ears after listening to one of my favorite games get pillaged and massacred in the name of “Subverted Expectations”. Do not recommend. Collapse… Expand

    The definition of disapointment. Good grafics and a decent gameplay and that's all.
    The story of the first game was ruined on behalf of an agenda. Complete dislikeble characters and confusing, pointless plot. Very bad.

It was a major disrespect to him. I don't think this game is catering to the SJW's. It has been known that Ellie is attracted to women since the first game. The second part of the game was just garbage. I don't like Abby's character, and not because she might be trans. It's because of the way she was written, how we are supposed to feel bad for her, and some spite just because she killed Joel. The ending was absolutely horrible. What happened to Ellie? We may never know. I'm hoping they come out with some kind of DLC or something so we can know what happens in the end. Ellie deserves a good ending, so I hope she'll make up with Dina. The graphics and gameplay are just beautiful, but the AI is still pretty bad.

Amé el juego, esperé 7 años y no me arrepiento, se que tiene muchas malas críticas pero es que ND no nos mostró lo que queríamos ver, talvez por qué lo que pasó sería lo más cercano a la realidad, vemos dos puntos de vista de la venganza, tanto la de Abby que logro completar, y a pesar de eso le trajo otro pedo a su conciencia , como la de Ellie, hizo todo un viaje para que al final dejara viva a Abby, eso enojó a varios pero , ambas tenían motivos para hacer lo que hicieron, y al final Ellie tomó la decisión más madura que pudo haber tomado, que fue dejar a Abby con vida, siendo éste otro modo de dejar ir su carga, ya que a pesar de ir lo hiciera, lo que hizo y lo que perdió está hecho.

    Para mí gusto está a la altura del primero, no se le puede comparar directamente ya que ambos cuentan con una atmósfera y tema diferentes, aunque la jugabilidad, fabricación, combate (en especial cuerpo a cuerpo) y armas es bastante mejor al primero, sin mencionar los escenarios, gráficos y la banda sonora. Vale completamente la pena

Characters never grow or learn from there actions which is odd for that seems to be what the game is about. It's trying to be deep and make the player think but there is nothing to think about. It's is just a simple revenge story with 1 dimensional characters. The only lesson you could say it teachers is revenge and violence is bad, but when you spend 30 hours doing extremely terrible things, you became numb to the violence and the meaning is lost after the first few hours. The game forces you to do bad things and they goes "OMG LOOK AT THE BAD THING YOU DID". This game not only insults and violates its audience, but it also does the same to the characters and legacy of the first game. I genually felt empty after playing this and have already returned it. The only reason I gave this a 6 is solely for the art and how good it looks. I feel so sorry for the poor people that were forced to work on this for years.… Expand

    I don't really like the maps as well as there are so many places that looks 90% the same or have to revisit again and again.
    The story is just a nightmare. I simply would not want play as Micah to learn his background( and don't get to kill Micah either) after Arthur is dead in RDR2 and half of this game is exactly about that. Forced and disgusting cutscene are just icing on the damn cake.    … Expand

    Excellent storyline that puts your feels in a place fitting for the current world. Ashley Johnson brings Ellie to life, as usual. The mechanics stay true to the original with a couple of extras added. Well worth purchasing.

They forced him to become oblivious to the world he lives in just to have a shock factor kill early into the game. Please explain to me in what world is Joel and Tommy going to walk Into and ambush like a bunch of fools? In Last of us 1 Joel clearly spots and ambush! After Abby kills Joel, How in the world does she allow HIS BROTHER and a Girl who clearly loved him to live? Did you not think that they weren't going to seek revenge like you spent all this time seeking revenge? Lastly at the end, this whole game felt useless after Ellie decides to let Abby live....     Beautiful scenery I'll give you that and a great soundtrack. Loved like 2 of the new characters. Story otherwise was........not good. I think it could have been a bit better if they had focused on what made the first game so great.

    Now coming to the plot, I don't know why people are mad at it, the ending is really poetic I just have this feeling people, especially gaming nerds do not having the intellect to understand the ending, they are watering it down to much, in the end, she spares Abby because that way she is forgiving Joel for the Salt lake hospital scene.    … Expand

    Highly atmospheric and incredibly detailed. The storytelling is impeccably done through utterly outstanding voice acting and mocap. The combat is frenetic, with different strategies applicable to human vs infected enemies. This game is a masterpiece.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ve been seeing online that this game has been getting review bombed, leading to people not taking the reviews seriously. So as a person who has actually played the game I wanted to give my own take. And that is , is this game shouldn’t exist....period.

    *I pre-ordered and got the game early*

    So where do I begin.

    I think it is purely insulting to say the least that you have Joel in a lot of the advertisements leading up to the game but you use him for what seems to be 30-40 minutes. Yes you heard me right. A character you spent hours even days playing in the first game , is killed off within the first two hours of the game. To put that into context , within the first four hours of the game I had played with Ellie’s guitar more than Joel. Let’s not mention the fact that Joel is killed off in the most “Weak” Way possible. A character who single handedly took down buildings of dozens of men in the previous game. Is mortality wounded within 5 seconds Without a chance to fight back ... A character who deserved a death like Arthur Morgan or John Marston is killed within five minutes. Joel was a bad guy at times in the last of us 1.
    He chose Ellie over a cure but that doesn’t mean you go off and kill him so quickly....brutally and without any dignity. CHRIST you know it’s bad if the main creator of the game Neil Druckmann is one of the bad guys and SPITS on Joel saying “Burn in Hell pendejo”

    His death seems even more unjustified when you play as a younger Ellie in flashbacks and you see him actually putting in effort , actually acting like a father figure. But no He is killed off so brutally and almost synonymously , his death was like long time fans of the game where also getting hit in the head by a golf club by the creators.

    From this point on the game gets almost immediately ...depressing? ....like yes I wanted to go and kill Joel’s killers but at the same time ...Ellie wasn’t acting the same, she was a lot more aggressive and rightfully so and she didn’t even seem remotely similar to the girl I met or the girl I see in the flashbacks.

    I played the game for a few more hours until the ending itself was spoiled for me. Normally it wouldn’t but after I heard what Ellie does I REFUSE to play the rest of the game for now. It left me with such a sour taste when I watched the end fight scene.

    The scene itself looks boring.. it’s just two of them in a lake going in circles.
    Abby ends up biting Ellie’s fingers off resulting in her not being able to play the guitar again I believe ? You know that feature that was put I so we could bond and remember Joel ...gone.
    And then Ellie let’s her go and cries in a lake ...by herself. It’s a depressing and unjustified ending to a sequel we didn’t want or need. I could go on and on for why this game totally sucks , people bring up Joel’s death and the sex scene
    The scene itself didn’t bother me when I watched it , but I believe the character who is f**king Abby is the creator of the game ? If so , did he Mocap himself doing that with the actress ?
    That’s just wrong on so many cases. Bet he created that scene purposely haha

    Now why am I not giving this game a completely Negative score even though it deserves it , well because .the game is good looking , at points it looked like concept art , the really highly detailed stuff. . The world itself is just amazing , an upgrade from the first one but it sucks to that because the could have done so so so much more with it but they just don’t. And that’s it , I was gonna write more about this game but just like the thing in question at the start I had a lot of passion but near the end I just got bored and gave up because , it’s all been done and said before. The death of joel it was sad, but completely necessary for the revenge feeling. If the game give you so much hate is because the immersion in the feelings are better than we expected. Thats why this game diserved 20 point of 10.

    I read the leaks before the game came out and like many others was so angry. I felt they treated my beloved characters wrongly. I tried to give Naughty Dog the benefit of the doubt anyway due to their amazing games of the past.

    Now having played it all the way through, I can say it has become one of the best games I have ever played. It has shifted my reality much like the first one did.

    Last of Us Part II is a game that hurts you. It hurts you so bad that you fall. And when you are on the floor helpless, it continues to beat you. It barely offers any moments of joy. Somehow I still find so much joy in it. It offers an experience that really puts you at odds with everything and puts you in a place that makes you feel helpless, much like the characters feel in the game.

    The biggest complaint heard around is Joel’s death. Not THAT he died but HOW he died. I get that. It made me incredibly sad and angry when it occurred in the game. But now I get why he died that way. People don’t want to recognize it but in the world of the Last of Us, Joel is just a guy. A **** up and horrible but amazing and beautiful guy. The death is proper because it reminds the player that Joel is no god. He is just as human just like every else that the player kills in the series and is treated as such. People get killed in the worst ways in the world and the game reflects that. Joel is no exception to that terrible death many get. Also as much as it pains me to say it. I love Joel with all my heart but his death is justified. Joel, as much as we love is, is a terrible human being. He not only **** up Ellie’s life by making her give up what she wanted so badly in life (to mean something, her way of meaning something being sacrificing herself for a cure), but he also killed so many innocent lives in the process. His one selfish decision to take Ellie out of the hospital came at such a large cost to so many people’s lives. It was inevitable Joel would die they way he did. Karma caught up with him. Of course his death still hurts so bad. I cared about him so much but it makes sense that he dies that way.

    The other concern I had about the death is that I thought Joel would be dead 2 hrs in and then we’d never see him ever again. I was proven wrong by the many flashbacks seen throughout the game. Joel is still largely in the story, just not in the current world. Only in flashbacks. He is still want the whole story revolves around and is seen quite a bit, thank the lord.

    The other complaint I see tossed around is the one about Abby’s transgender nature and Ellie’s gay nature. I don’t think people mind their being diverse characters but feel this game is trying to shove it down their throats. I am going to tell everyone who has never played the game. NO AGENDA IS SHOVED DOWN YOUR THROAT IN THIS GAME. Yes, lesbian situations are in the game a lot but it all feels nature. It doesn’t feel like any sort of statement. With Abby being transgender, I can’t remember when it is ever mentioned. In fact I don’t think it ever is. Transgender is mentioned in one section about a different character but doesn’t feel like any agenda. People heard in the leaks that a transgender is put as a hero for like Joel and instantly think that some agenda is being put: that transgenders are better than everyone. That isn’t at all said. One, the game doesn’t say Abby is better than Joel at all. In fact it tries its best to make everyone seem like neither good or bad guys, just humans. Second, Abby being transgender is not important to her character at all throughout the story, just something the character is. I understand the anger but I hope if people just take the time to play it they can understand the beauty in it. Sure it has some plot points that I feel are unnecessary and some moments are really slow but overall it is on the same level as the original Last of Us in my opinion. It feels like a proper Part II that is needed to complete this franchise. Hope people take my advice to heart and give this game a chance. So many people worked so hard on it and I think it’s paid off.

    The escence of the first game is completely lost, no more story regarding to Ellies inmunity and to the infected, the influence and message of the firelies is no more, etc.

    Pros.
    The graffics are perfect and the game looks just beautyful.
    The mesage that the game sends is clear and valuable.
    It is a grat example of a story and a game that sends politic ideas without being forced and unpleasing.
    The animations are next gen and the game is greatly immersive. The music and soundtrack are a masterpiece.
    The work on Elilies character is perfect and human.
    Every character has its development even if they are no good.

I am not mad that he died bc it was bound to happen with him being that "mentor" character. But the way he died made no sense. Lets look back in the first game. It was established that Joel is a seasoned survivor that is not very trusting of new people. So much so as in running over a stranger who was calling for help in the streets bc he saw that it was a trap. He was very careful and cautious of basically everything.

    All of that was absent in this game. Him and Tommy just trusted Abby's group and told them their real names. No sense of caution, or carefulness even though they were all about that in the previous game. They made them stupid and killed Joel for no reason other than plot convenience. They needed him to die so Ellie can have a revenge plot. On top of it all, they had the audacity to make us play as Abby for half the game. Why would we want to play as her? She was so boring and uninteresting. We came for Ellie and Joel, not Abby. It's like when in Halo 5 you played as Locke for more than half the game when everyone wanted to play as Chief. I would've been fine with his death if we at least got to play Joel and didn't kill him so quickly. The trailers were so misleading, implying Joel would have a mush more import role in the story and selling a completely different tone than what was expected. And I know they wanted to "subvert expectations" but this was an example of a great concept but very poor execution and has The Last Jedi vibes.

    Lastly, the ending sucked. Ellie should've killed Abby. It was established in the first game that Joel was the most important person in Ellie's life (she even said this). And for her to let Abby live and basically save her, it's like that wasn't present. I guess she forgot. I know they were going for a "revenge bad" theme but when you killed EVERY SINGLE person in Abby's group EXCEPT Abby herself felt so damn unsatisfying. What even was the point of this game? What did they spend 7 years on? Clunky mechanics and a half-made story?

    I didn't like this game. The graphics look OKAY at best but nothing really impressed me. The level design was poor and felt really handheld. How convenient as we walk through a ruined city that every single window is boarded up except the ONE window the game wants me to go in. Mechanics were almost the same as the first game but somehow felt more clunky. Most of the side characters are either boring, useless (looking at Dina), or both. Again, what did they spend 7 years on? I would've given this a 0/10 at first but after collecting my thoughts, I'd give it a 2/10 bc the game was at the very least able to run.    … Expand

If any of the positive reviewers have ever played the first game with any shred of attention or passion for it then i really don't understand where they are comming from calling it great and inronically calling the story a supposed "masterpiece" ...

    Whereas the first game is unforgettable due to the tone it set, combining bitter reality with a theme of hope, and well established characters that we all grew to know and love, the second game almost spits on all that was built up, and presents us a world that doesn't correspond with the theme astablished, and characters who are anything but a continuation of what they were and are. Joel was going to be killed eventually yes due to what he did at the end of the first game, but the way they did it in the second is just purely **** writing. When it happens, nobody knows who the **** Abby is, and after that we are expected to play as her to only then after 10 hours understand who she was and why (taking the fact that she is a super bland character with no real draw or motives out of the picture for a second). A proper execution would have been for us to first understand who she is, and where she is comming from and then have it lead up to the climax of confronting Joel. Combine that with the fact that Joel is established in the first game as a very mistrusting person, always seeing through traps, people's intentions and even not trustinnlg Ellie with a switchblade (out of fear she might hurt herself that is). Having him walk into a base with strangers, giving up their names with their guard fully down is the last thing he would ever do. The writer took him out of character for an opportunity to kill him off quick for shock value, and to even be able to insert his cgi self spitting on his corpse, this whole seen and that move can therefore be seen as a spit in the face of the fans by Druckman himself.

    Its also just plainly bad writing to make it seem like Joel saving her life didn't matter **** to her ... if the writers had actually bothered to put some depth into it they could have made it into a longer played out internal conflict that would have made for an actual good story.

    Now the story is just about 24 hours of constant revenge while simultaneously having a political agenda shoved down your throat. It doesn't belong in the world that was so cleverly thought out and brought to life in the first game. The zombies are so absent from the story now that they could just as well have been removed, so now the suspense they created in the first game is reduced to them feeling like some annoying npc part of a puzzle to get to the next cutscene

    Its just a whole game long where the player has to carry out one person's revenge fantasy after the other ... there is no depth to it, just a rinse and repeat viewed from different perspective played by characters that feel like husks compared to the complexity they had in the first game... Also there is no exiting goal anymore ... no outcome to work towards, just revenge upon revenge upon revenge plot

    Also the tone is nothing like what we got in the first game. The first game was already set in dark bitter reality so i don't buy the whole "but its more like reality now" argument, but the thing that kept you playing and made the game so good was the underlying tone of hope that carried the characters through, gave the story its gripping aspect and made everything feel like it mattered. At the end of the second game there is nothing you have really accomplished. No goal was reached that meant anything, we are left with some dead people, the villain walking away and being better off than the protagonist and no sense of satisfaction whatsoever. Its just 24 hours of "i kill u cuz i mad that u killed this person"

    So no, the story was just a prime case of lazy, bad writing anf showed no respect for artistical integrity. Joels death was done poorly and in total disregard for who we got to know in the first game, and so was the rest of the story. Badly written, shallow, it really added nothing of value to the timeline and on top of that tried to be way to political for the environment it takes place in. At the end of this game, there is no sense of accomplishment or satisfaction, we are left with an empty feeling, wishing we'd have never walked into this game and had just let the story end where the first game did. hence the story in all its aspects really just is a bunch of horse****, and a slap in the face for fans of the first game.    … Expand

Y también hay otros como gente con otras consolas que solo viene a criticar por no tener el juego es solo gente que quieren que le hagan caso, o también es porque en vez de jugarlo se pone a ver gampleys y ya empiezan a critcar su historia. Lastly, if you are the mount and blade type of player (aka want to make the character you play have the morality you choose) then you might be dissapointed, the main characters are close to as complex as a real human and thus you can easily find things you dissagree on the main characters views. I would not recomend this game to the type of players that dont want to be an unrealistic killing machine because in this game you are made to do some 1v5 to 1v10 and for them to be possible for all players they had to dumb down the AI and thus only the more realistic stealth feels right. For me, a player mostly focused on strategic and realistic map painter games i would give it a 7/10.… Expand

Справедливая оценка релизу, ведь когда автор пытается впихнуть свои политические взгляды и при этом показывает, как ему наплевать на тех, кому они не по душе, то пусть будет готов получить ответку.

I know the devs want us to play Abby to know her story and want us to understand why she did it, but they used the worst way possible, we cannot feel anything but hate the moment she killed our favourite character. And we have to play Abby for nearly 8 hrs. I felt disgusted at the second half of the game. Plus the ending is terrible, I have no idea why Ellie let Abby go after all those lives she killed. She just suddenly feels bad about killing. WTF r u thinking? Are those people u killed before worth nothing? U killed so many innocent lives to just kill one person and u let her go at the end? At least give us a choice domb ass!… Expand

    I usually do not post scores on the games that i played because i believe in peoples different perspectives. But this one is beyond perspectives. I post this comment simply because i cannot let these people who think that they are better than us to ruin any more of my beloved game, movie and etc franchises. We must not let them namakeke any more of it oh yeah graphics were good. I give 1 for that.

Everyone did not expect that this part not about relationships between Ellie and Joel. I'm from East Europe and I also don't support homosexual ideas but in-game I did not feel that Dina was specifically included in the game for the sake of praising Drakman's Liberal Ideas. In the first part we knew that she loves girls and not anyone said that this game is bad. I love this world and anyone can’t destroy it.… Expand

Ellie was also left without two fingers, without Dina and without Tommy ... In this game, a wonderful atmosphere of music, wonderful localization, locations and so on. But the plot leaves much to be desired ... The plot is twisted and in some places it is not clear, to these moments the questions are asked "Why it was shown and why" Here's an example of a scene where Abby and Owen make love, the question "WHY?" Why did the Naughty Gog show this scene and why? What did they want to influence us with this scene? I'm not saying now that Abby has a terrible figure, but guys!     I jumped to beat the two and I must say I'm disappointed. I avoided the spoilers that leaked before the premiere. Halfway through the game, it's a masterpiece. The graphics are stunning. It's amazing that they made this game on PS4, which is already years old. Animations, facial expressions, music is at highest level. The second half of the game is a problem for me.     This game should be shorter, I don't know if it is the wine that I jumped in two days, and I haven't played anything else so intense since the Assasin 3 came out, but doing the same for 25 hours becomes tedious. For the first half of the game I do not understand why people flood it with low marks, but after passing this game I am able to understand them. Of course, the game does not deserve 2/10, but neither does 9.5 / 10. If I were to rate, I would say that The Last of Us part 2 is a 6/10 game.    … Expand

    Beautiful gameplay and storytelling but the story is not for everyone because it is different from first Last Of Us. That makes The Last Of Us Part 2 a brave game, Loved it!

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
