    The game is beautiful, Music score is one of the best. Innovations in gameplay for a sequel not bad hoping for more. Lied to us in the trailer making us think Joel was more involved in the the story. GG Neil Druckmann big mad.

El juego me gustó bastante en el sentido de gameplay muy bien elaborados los mapeados las físicas y cada detalle está hecho con mucho cariño pero la historia es bastante mala en el sentido que quieren que nos encariñemos con un personaje que nos quito a uno que queríamos del primer juego de una manera muy cruda es muy forzado todo nos muestran una historia desde la perspectiva de ellie y cuando pensamos que estamos en la batalla final nos la cortan para ver la historia del otro personaje, rompe con todo el ritmo y a volver a empezar desde el inicio pero con el otro personaje después es incuerente muchas partes que después que ellie pierde contra ese personaje por primera vez va decidida a seguir con su venganza y cuando va a matar al otro personaje lo perdona pensando que la venganza es mala y entonces ella hace un viaje por gusto para perderlo todo después en fin esa es mi opinión.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I managed to avoid all the leaks and spoilers and didn't read any reviews prior to playing. I intended to play this game with a blank slate so that I could truly appreciate what I thought was going to be one of the best sequels ever made.

    Intro
    I regard The Last of Us (original game) to be one of the best games I've ever played. Part II doesn't match for me. The storytelling, gameplay, and the graphical achievement of the original are what made the first game great in my opinion - with the storytelling part being the strongest element. Part II utterly lacked the storytelling element for me, and not because bad things happened and I didn't like them. While I was playing, I often thought "what is the point in this?"

    The Story
    I'm just going to get straight to the point here because it's my main criticism of the game. Very early on in the game, the antagonist is established to the audience since she kills our father figure antihero protagonist from the original game. No problem, the scene is set. It makes sense; his history has finally caught up with him, but in the most brutal fashion imaginable. The audience now hates her and wants to kill her and intends to spend the rest of the game seeking Joel's vengeance.

    After this painful and angering moment, the audience is forced to play about half the game as Abby. I understand that the intentions of Naughty Dog here were to show that there are two sides to every story, but it was done ineffectively here. Her side of the story didn't connect with me in any way whatsoever. I found myself trying to speedrun parts of the game where I had to play as her because I simply had no interest in trying to understand her motives and lacked any empathy for the antagonist. As mentioned before, I didn't see the point. The audience is angry with this character and is now being forced to play entire segments they simply have no care or pity for. We see a sequence where her father, a surgeon who was about to perform the fatal procedure on Ellie, was killed by Joel in order to save her life. So what? The audience doesn't connect with Abby's side of the narrative because they are accustomed to Joel's story and it felt as though this other story was being shoehorned in. There was no value in showing the antagonist's side of the story.

    Throughout the narrative, major characters die. This isn't a problem in itself - but the impact of these deaths lost effect once the audience begins to realise there's no real reason these people are dying. Joel dies, Nora dies, Owen dies, Mel dies, Yara dies, Jesse dies, and so do a couple more of Abby's friends. What was the point? There was no resolution to any of these deaths and I asked "what are the developers trying to do here?" The audience empathised with Ellie on Joel's death and that was the majority of it. There was no sense in killing characters other than a small part of Nora's death because it felt as though Ellie's story was progressing. For the rest, the audience got nothing in return and there was no sense of fulfilment anywhere to be had. It's puzzling here trying to understand what Naughty Dog intended.

    Naturally, Joel's death was most impactful and sets the audience hellbent on wanting some form of meaning from the very beginning - what is going to become of his death? In the end, the answer was simply nothing. His killer gets away and we played an entire 25 hour or so narrative so that we could see her get away with it even though everything leading up to the end made us want her dead. Every other plot point up until then just felt like filler. Ellie's relationship with Dina, Dina's pregnancy, the guitar, Abby's entire segments - it all felt like filler and the audience just wanted to be done with it and get to the story-rich part of the game, which sadly never came.

    The Gameplay
    The game plays much like the original with improvement and additional features such as being able to go prone in tall grass for additional stealth, or being able to slip through small cracks as a means of evading enemies. For some gamers accustomed to fast-paced action, gameplay might feel sluggish. However, fans of the original should appreciate it because of its familiar and unique survival elements. My one criticism here is that controls occasionally felt unresponsive; sometimes button presses weren't registering and I sometimes found myself mashing triangle to pick up items, then going back because it missed them.

    This game is also possibly the most accessible game ever made up to now. There are numerous options for gameplay customisation for those who may need special requirements.

    Graphical Achievement
    Similar to the original game, these will be the best graphics of this ending console generation - it pushed current and ageing console hardware to its limits. Attention to detail in the game environments were very well done and are a marvel to look at.    … Expand

    El problema no es la preferencia sexual, es el hecho que haya escenas eróticas sin venir a cuento y que se use a una minoría para ganar la aprobación fácil de descerebrados.
    Un argumento sobre su sexualidad muy forzado que te saca de la historia y del juego constantemente y que no te haga disfrutar plenamente de las mecánicas e historia (básicamente la historia es que la prota se enamora de la tía que mató a su "padrastro", y se ponen a meterse mano y fumar porros en un apocalipsis zombie. tiran por el suelo la historia de la primera parte como que matan al protagonista de la primera y no le dan importancia al hecho de que ella sea inmune).
    Sobre los gráficos, la entrega anterior fue impresionante en comparación a los demás títulos, en cambio en esta segunda entrega no me parecen tan impactantes (solo en las cinemáticas se esforzaron) pero igualmente el diseño gráfico de los zombies son pésimos en esta segunda entrega).
    la IA de los zombies es similar a la de juegos como minecraft (puedes hacer que te sigan varios y dar vueltas al rededor de una columna o subirte a un andamio de metro y medio y ya no te alcanzan, realmente no hay ningún peligro) pero podrías decir que son zombien y no razonan, pero igualmente los enemigos vivos tienen una IA del año 2000 (le puedes clavar una flecha, te escondes unos segundos y se olvida te ti y se va con la flecha clavada. puede también verte claramente y si te escondes antes de unos segundos, se olvida de ti enseguida. y esconderse significa ponerse de cuclillas detrás de un arbusto de medio metro y ya)

    pero diría que lo peor es la cara dura del guionista y/o del director que engañaron con los trailers.

    pd: mucho éxito en ventas pero ebay (y todas las páginas de 2º mano) está saturada y lo puedes pillar fácil por menos de 20€ con una semana de uso (llegué a ver una subasta a menos de un día de cerrar, de uno en edición coleccionista a 17€) y cada día que pasa está más barato.    … Expand

    I know there are a ton of controversies about this game but they are mainly based on ridiculous personal preferences or lazy thinking. This game is a masterpiece. From the visuals, to the gameplay, and especially the story line, it keeps you more than 100% invested the entire time! Easily one of the top 5 games and stories every developed. You’d be insane not to play this game!

    Five long years for this garbage ?, I prefer to play Doom Eternal, I prefer to play Ori and The Will Of the wisp, I prefer to play Animal Crossing NH; This game stands out visually but the story is Horrible, badly posed with a silly script and sometimes very predictable, and I can still continue the problem of crunching spoilers etc etc ... TLOU2 is a bad game

    This game was beautifully crafted and had me on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the entire course of the story. Fueled with anger and hate at the beginning, then empathy and sadness in the middle, and finally peace at the end.

    I loved each character -- even Abby who I had initially hated. The relationships between each main character was genuine and amazing. This experience was like no other.

    I am very proud of Naughty Dog and the risks they took with this game. I hope they do not let the negative criticisms deter them from continuing to take similar risks in the future.

    This game is a must play to anyone who loves an amazing story. Way to go Naughty Dog!    … Expand

    Although got bored at 1 or 2 points of the story, overall the game is great! The game play leaves impression on you so you are expecting similar with other games. It really rises the bar of quality. The amount of detail is really amazing.
    Best closure to the console generation. Cannot wait to play again .

    Following the footsteps to one of the best games if not the best game I played on the ps3, Naughty Dog had massive shoes to fill. The first entry had me dealing with all emotions and I was all over the place at the end of the journey. When learned there was a sequal in the works back in 2016 I was both excited and worried that they would make a game not worthy the masterpiece they releasedFollowing the footsteps to one of the best games if not the best game I played on the ps3, Naughty Dog had massive shoes to fill. The first entry had me dealing with all emotions and I was all over the place at the end of the journey. When learned there was a sequal in the works back in 2016 I was both excited and worried that they would make a game not worthy the masterpiece they released back in 2013. The last of us part 2 brought forth the same excited, nerve-wrecking, anxiety, happy, sobbing feelings I had with the first one. Naughty Dog polished an already polished jewel and made yet another masterpiece with part 2. I was hooked from the start and throughout my 35+ hour playtime and my tears were running down my cheek when the credits rolled. There's a part of me that feel they could've given more screen time with Joel and Ellie to shine together before killing off Joel and also playing as Abby in the theater didn't resonate with me that much. But I get why they did it and what they're trying to tell us and I applaud Naughty Dog for having the confidence to make such a bold and beautiful sequal to a game that didn't need one. There's nothing out there that can compete with Naughty Dog both visually and in storytelling. Yes, I can see why this is a divisive game but it's a game still worth having played.… Expand

Instead, just in the very first act of the game Joel is brutally murdered in an absolutely naive and stupid way by a character that you barely know for 10 minutes, and then the game expects you to play as that new character as if nothing happened.

    Seriously?

    The ending is also silly and negates virtually everything that the storytellers were trying to preach.

    This is quite possibly the worst game sequel ever made. DO NOT BUY.

    Don't even get me started on the copyright strike abuse by MUSO (read: Sony).

    P.S. For the people of the "press" and fanboys shouting that all the negative reviews are from bots, trolls or homophobic people: the LGBT aspects of the game are completely irrelevant. No one is complaining about that. I don't give a crap that Ellie is a lesbian. We already knew that from the first game's DLC. It's the way the characters are treated and how the story ruined everything from the first one that is the issue. Get it, BBC, Forbes, The Guardian, etc.?    … Expand

The graphics where absolutely stunning Played this later than most people had too swerve every spoiler. While trying to read how people felt about it, it was emotional thought Joel's death was the most heartbreaking as I did not expect it to be so brutal, hating abby for what she did and theoretically killing Joel myself with how I controlled abby into meeting up with joel.
    But thought I felt Ellie in her journey and when I thought it was over it was abbys turn to show me her side of the story wow id never fought id understand what she had gone through. Even to the point where I was like " Ellie don't leave your family to get her just settle down now its what joel would of wanted" The story on the whole was no where near the same as the first TLOU but thats because they both had two different emotions behind them. Id love to replay this game but joels death was to heartbreaking maybe one day when I can let it sink in,really was an emotional ride I felt for each character and there journeys.

El gran contraste que hace con el primero, la historia cruda y amarga (Tan bien ambientada en ese universo) hace que se haya convertido inmediatamente en un juego legendario. The huge problem for me is the story. I could’ve understanded Joel’s death if it actually meant something in the end, but it doesn’t. Ellie ends up going for revenge after some encounters with Abby and killing everyone else that had a hand in his death, but as she’s drowning Abby, she has a flashback of Joel and lets go. It makes no damn sense and you’re forced to play as a character you hate for the latter half of the game. If this was the first game in the series, I would’ve been fine with it, but this game is a complete 180 from its predecessor and shows a massive disconnect between Naughty Dog and the fan base.… Expand

    For the amazing graphics, acting and all of the other techical stuff that are over the top, I can only give a 7 because the story (more like THE WAY) was written and shown was horrible. You can try news ways of presenting characters and their motives but this one didn't work me. Its two games made into one.

I wanted to give a good review, but I just can’t. When I was playing Abby I just wanted to kill myself, and eventhough the graphics were really cool with some new addictions gameplay-wise, I just, for the life of me, couldn’t enjoy playing. The only part I did enjoy was fighting off the seraphites, they were challenging and they were interesting. Everything else did not make sense. I have a lot of examples but these are just some that pissed me off:
    1. What’s the deal with this game and pregnancy? First there’s Dina but then, there’s this other pregnant lady.... You have a camp full of strong people, eager to fight and ready to do it. In what world would you let (and want btw) a pregnant woman, that is almost giving birth judging by the size of her belly, to go in search of supplies when you know you have enemies nearby also ready to fight? You’re not just putting yourself and your baby in danger, but also your entire crew. It’s just one very unnecessary responsibility.
    2. Why were there flashbacks within flashbacks? That’s just poor storytelling. You could have told the same story without all those in between.
    3. I felt manipulated into liking Abby, which did not work for me. Yes, she likes dogs. Yes, she likes children and she feels bad for dead pregnant women. So what? I do too, but that does not necessarily make me a good person. Nor a likable one.
    4. Ellie. She feels so different. I know she is all grown up now, but she lost all the witiness from the first game. She was so fun to play with and she felt very one dimensional, and angsty (not in a good fun way) in this game.
    5. I knew Joel was going to die. I don’t mind his death being very painful to watch because I knew it would be. I honestly just don’t understand how the events worked out. In the first game, you have a scene where Joel sees a man pretending to be injured. He is in a car with Ellie and without talking to the man or leaving the car, he KNOWS that it is an ambush. How can the same man be so reckless in a house full of armed strangers? I just can’t deal with the illogical character developments. It’s only been 5 years and you’re telling me that he changed so much to start giving out his name to random people knowing full well what he did to the fireflies? It doesn’t make sense to me.
    Honestly, I could spend more time ranting about this game but I am tired. This game made me feel tired and frustrated. I play to enjoy myself and that didnt happen at all. If you wanted a gut wrenching game, then you should have done it correctly. I am sorry but the graphics did not do it for me. Yes they’re gorgeous but when everything is so bleak and so badly told I just can’t bring myself to enjoy it.    … Expand

The only reason I am giving this a 8 and not a 10 is because I feel like the Santa Monica part ruined it for me. I wish Ellie would have just stayed with JJ and Dina and the story ended there. It's so fascinating how people are still fighting about this game and how divided the fan base is but if it wasn't clear before it should be now for all level headed people . The Last of Us 2 is not a masterpiece and it's not the worst game ever deserving of anything under a 4 (I get that people are trying to be heard but come on)

    So here's a few hot takes of mines as well since everyone has chimed in . Let's start of with some facts

    Is Joel disrespected in this game? No
    Is Abby a terrible character and a Mary Sue? **** Yes
    Are the side characters bad? Yes
    Is the pacing off and the game too long? Yes
    Is the story unsalvagable and/or complete trash? No
    Is the ending bad? Yes...somewhat
    Is the game woke? Yes
    Is the gameplay good? Absolutely
    Is the attention to detail award worthy? Most definitely

    Now let's break down those statements shall we?

    First of all Joel is not disrespected in this game in the slightest . Was the false trailers and fake interviews a **** move? Yes , is the slight retcon of the final events of the first game a ploy to further demonize his actions? Yes but that's as far as it goes . The entire story is dedicated around Joel and he is used to motivate you to do what you have to do and if that wasn't enough the end credit song if you pay attention to the lyrics is both sad and incredibly beautiful for both Ellie and Joel

    Second most talked about aspect of the game is of course Abby . Once again Neil Druckmann was caught lying that you only get to play as Ellie and that's undoubtedly a **** move no matter how you try to justify it but that wouldn't have been a problem if the character was you know ....good . I could go on and on with all the contrivances and **** plot points the game has to make you care for her but I'll just say that Abby is a Mary Sue and kindly direct you to TV Tropes just to see how many character trait boxes she checks . If after reading those you still aren't convinced then we have nothing further to discuss

    Thirdly we go the side characters who are mostly terrible . Dina is just OK and her relationship with Ellie has zero chemistry , Jesse is a pointless character and only there to be a sperm dispenser and a body for someone to kill (Seriously what happened to the teased love triangle?) , Tommy is all over the place being a badass the one second and a buffoon the next , Abby's friends are all annoying and you are glad to finally kill them despite the games efforts to make you care and the siblings are fine for what they are but their relationship with Abby is forced , manipulative and badly paced

    At number four we have the pacing/length . A lot of people liked the first open area with Ellie but I ****ing hated it as it was way WAY too long for it's own good and kills the opening hours of the game . Abby's trip to the aquarium also takes way too ****ing long and the pointless flashbacks do nothing but regurgitate stuff we already knew and beat you over the head with "hey they aren't so different after all and perspective matters" stuff which are fine in moderation but they took it way too far

    Fifth is the story and is it all bad? No but the writing is all over the place as you truly question if subsequent scenes were written by the same person . You go from cringe , to emotional to cringe , to compelled rinse and repeat

    Sixth is the ending and is it bad? Yes due to Abby's poor character development and the games super fun combat which gives mixed messages . I get the sentiment but boy it didn't work . The ending credits song salvaged it though but I doubt that they have the balls to do what the lyrics imply

    Seventh is the game woke? LOL at pregnant women on the field , the Abby sex scene and the baby in general

    Eight I'm going to combine the final two points into one . The Last of Us Part II is a blast to play and literally every game after it will feel like **** in comparison mostly due to the amazing animations . Graphics , attention to detail? Best in the business especially because it was created for an even by 2013 standards underpowered console . Sound design? Excellent , Cinematography? Fantastic , Voice acting? top notch ...

    The Last of Us Part II is flawed game but a good one nonetheless . Add to all the above the fact that it released without bugs or massive day 1 patches and all the accessibility options and I can see how people appreciate it more than others . At the same time covering your eyes and ears to the games problems and calling everyone that disagrees with you a phobe like the fanboys , journalists and numnuts like Troy Baker like to do is also pathetic    … Expand

    People are **** around because the game doesnt deliver the warm hearted family friendly content they all somehow expected, its a modern game spinning current topics into its long and well told story, with a lot of characters where you more and more learn why they did certain things they did. I really started to feel what the different characters are going through, giving me an emotional carousel because they all have theire different point of views on the same topic.

    It is a complex story of revenge, and how hard it is to deal with ourselves and the others at an apocalypse. It plays with our emotions and thoughts in a fascinating way! The characters are very well constructed and that makes an enormous difference during the narrative. 2. GRAPHICS

    About the graphics, it is just unimaginable! It brings an impressive variety of details, with a great color selection and very realistic characters. About that, nobody can disagree. 3. GAMEPLAY The gameplay is even better than at the first one! TLOU 2 brings wider spaces for exploration, more realistic actions and antagonists, new weapons and infected levels, and much more. 4. CHARACTERS When it comes to the characterization, I’m honestly very satisfied! They’ve constructed very expressive and complex characters, fact that has everything to do with how the story is built and how it ends. So that’s it!     The swan song for ps4, no other game comes even close in term of story, graphics, gameplay, voice acting, soundtrack.

    P.s. the fact that the review bombers, to try to find a reason to bash this game, say that the gameplay is "the same" as TLOU1 really prove that they didn't play the game at all. Caught you! :)

    The game got about 30.000 0-1 reviews by 3-4 hours after release. The reason: mostly rage about the story as a whole and the character development. Ehmm, lets say: a rough plot from a leak is one thing. The way you develop it and the narration a completely different thing. Given the fact that this is where the game really shines, none    Ok, let's sum up what that user score is all about:

Given the fact that this is where the game really shines, none of that can be judged after 3 hours.

    So it all comes down to review bombing. And there are a lot of reasons that motivate it:

    - Story leaks that led to hasty judgments of the plot
    - Hate on Naughty Dog because of the restrictive policy in dealing with these leaks
    - Inability or displeasure in dealing with difficult issues or ways of storytelling
    - Political agendas about SJWS
    - Envy towards the PS and its exclusives

    The reasons not to bomb the game would be millions. I let the numberless positive reviews stand for themselves. All is said about what a blast the game is in every way. Unfortunately it fell victim to an idiotic cyber mob that did explicitly not judge the quality of the game because 90% of them did not even play it ...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t understand people that hate the game. It is a story about brutal and unfair world, same as the first part was. It is not a fairytale about unicorns and happiness. It is a story about loss, desperation, struggle and humanity, after all. Joel was never a 100% positive character, and weeping about him being killed in post apocalyptic world, while living in a world where you could be killed for a few bucks in your valet, hit-and-run or whatever else dumb reason, sounds ridiculous.… Expand

    Incredible, beautiful game. THIS IS A DIFFERENT GAME THAN TLOU 1. If you go in expecting the same story, you will be disappointed. It is its own story. Sure, it has a few problems, infected enemies are still less interesting than humans, but I firmly believe it deserves a 10/10.

    Ils ont détruit tout ce qui m'avait fait aimé le premier, je peux vraiment dire que c'était une mauvaise expérience pour moi. Je me demande si je n'aurai pas mieux fait de regarder les spoils avant de l'acheter. Ca me fait vraiment mal d'avoir contribué à leur succès commercial.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
