    Gameplay is super polished and the visuals are legitimately the best I’ve ever seen, a shame the story goes for the ol’ “shock and awe” tactic and falls flat on its face

    画面和游戏杀戮体验接近满分,但游戏性并不值得任何形式的鼓吹,潜行玩法发展到2020年还是局限于躲藏与暗杀甚至连搬运尸体的功能都没有。因此美末2的玩法只属于原有基础的完善,实际上毫无新意;
    剧本三流美剧,放在电影里也就人物情感表现可圈可点,框架思路还算有新意,然而串联起不同情节桥段的线索逻辑空缺严重,疏漏得一塌糊涂:
    乔尔为什么会犯下普通生还者都不会犯的严重错误,没具体解释;
    金刚芭比为什么杀起自己人来不手软,为什么能为了一个孩子背叛自己相处了好几年的队友连击晕选项都不给,恶心玩家的同时也糟蹋了尝试代入艾比的玩家的情感体验;
    艾莉和艾比就见了三次面,前两次死了两个自己珍视的人,最后一次就是多年以后的复仇——谈何放走艾比?铺垫严重不足
    好剧本好就好在铺垫、线索、逻辑亦或者表现力。而这些本作几乎不沾边。简单总结:
    情节转折唐突,铺垫少影响逻辑;
    角色性质工具化,情感变化代入缺失;
    预告欺诈,重要角色处理方式消费玩家感情;剥夺玩家选择权。

Woke Trash from beyond the Golf Club, ruined the previous game and attempted to tell a revenge story on the basis of "cycle of mean people never end." The gameplay is fine however the story disregards the last game. It really feels like aside from character names we were playing an unrelated story because the characters were different and not so much time has passed that this would make sense. The game is also to long. It should have ended sooner than it did.

    I wouldn't call this game a complete failure, the graphics are godlike and the gameplay is very fun. However, this game is very brutal and made me sick at some parts, the story sacrifices character moments for SJW appeal (which it somehow also fails at? what?!) and you don't play as the giraffe from the first game. 0/5 **** sucks

    For the first time I felt that a game could tell a story without depending on joy. Something that the film industry shows for a long time. There's movies that make you feel sad, and often offer something that's painfully to watch. But the main difference is that in a video game you're not the spectator and this game will make you feel the actions of the main characters you control like any other game ever made.

    Hopefully this will open a new path for storytelling in the AAA industry.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us has some pretty good high value here and there for a medium that is often pretty poor. From excelent uses of color in dramatic moments (the red room, the camera tricks in the last phase) to dramatically powerfull symbology and use of recorrent images. I cannot deny that the team behind it did some astouding work in some regards, but it is also undeniable that those good feats are more due to talented individual artists (that unfortunatelly were not well paid during production) than of any concrete/ well organized vision.

    Videogame storytelling is still strugling to be respected in counterpart to its movie and literature brothers, and the last of us is not a good example of one that stands out from the crowd. The game suffers from just too many poor editing choices (the game is to long, and there are scenes that could have really won with a good editor) and plotholes that easily make any telespectator lose his suspension of disbelief. But even if those more ''technicall'' dificulties of production were removed (there was no need for the false ending) the story itself does not bring nothing new to the table. Sure, the idea of playing as the villain you were initially hunting can open interesting new possibilities, but the overall message is still a shallow ''Vengeance is bad''. There are many stories that speak of such themes with more interesting lens, and as a screenwriting undegraduate I can atest that this sort of metaphor the game proposes is a common mistake with beginners.

    To conclude: the last of us part 2 really needed a editor. It would have made the game greatly superior to what it is now (there is a reason why Holywood has diferent editors for everything possible) but even them, it is not really a outstanding work on its own, and there are games/literature/movies that perform this sort of vision in a more nuanced and innovative way.

    It truly pushes new ground in the line between movies and gaming.

    And that guitar...

    If I have one complaint, it's the same one that I had for the first game - the AI is not the best. But you can forgive that.

    An easy 10/10 for me.

    An aside: The ridiculousness of people spamming zero stars based on spoilers they'd seen rather than playing the actual game (laughably thousands of these appeared within minutes of release - despite the game taking 25-30+ hours) is incredible.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. *sigh where do i start?

    Let me say my credentials so you don't think i'm a 'troll' or 'right wing bot'.

    I played The Last of Us on PS3, then got it on PS4. It became a game i would return to again and again, i played the game 6 times. Multiplayer was very fun and i happily spent hundreds of hours in the mode. I was hyped, i followed every development that the game had, nearly bought the collectors edition, but settled on the deluxe edition. With all that out of the way, i have to describe my experience.

    I stayed up late, i was in the discord of the subreddit, watching as the minutes ticked down. I was one of the first to enter the game. I was excited, I've only seen one spoiler and it was minor. I got into the game, and... i was blown away, the graphics and stuff. I remember Joel and Ellie's relationship being kinda rocky in the start. Then i was so so on the new characters, Then, i saw Joel's death. I was hoping it was going to happen later on in the game, as the marketing showed Joel alive in Seattle, so i thought maybe he was alive but brained damaged/coma. I had to stop there because it was a awful way to die, but it fits the universe. I picked back up in the morning, i wanted revenge, and i went out of my way to kill every WLF patrol in game play, i didn't feel any remorse over who Ellie killed, as she was acting in self defense. The flashbacks were amazing, between Joel and Ellie hit the right balance between good writing and character development. The only flashback that felt off because of little talking that happened was when Ellie goes back to salt lake hospital and learns what happens. We get 3 sentences and it's a shatter relationship. Then we get to the most meh of meh parts, Abby's entire section.

    Oh boy, Abby has no goal. The Entire. God. Damn. Time. Her flashbacks were nice, i really liked Owen out of the new cast, Smart, resourceful and pragmatic. Mel was the worst of the new cast, it makes no sense for her to be out in combat, the first thing that happens is she and everyone of the new cast gets AMBUSHED and she's out here thinking everything will be fine. Anyway back to Abby. This leads back into my theory of Part 1, a theory that was put out by Joseph Anderson in his review of the game, that the fireflys have no idea what the **** they are doing. I thought Part 2 would spend more time fleshing out this theory that the fireflys were bad, by replacing it with anything to make me care more about the group. Instead you see that they really are scum, they rather they sacrifice the only known case of immunity so they can excuse there own sins. They don't have the best interest in helping anyone. It's just a reactionary group trying to gasp there way back into relevance. It's not like the fireflys would be able to make this cure, or that they would give it out freely. Joel's choice was selfish, but looking at the bigger picture, it's good the best choice for humanity.

    I was really sad to learn that Part 2 doesn't try and disprove the theory i said above, as i think the writers want you to think that they are good, and Joel is bad bad man that 'doomed' humanity. So now we have Abby, a firefly member that would sacrifice herself to her cause, meanwhile, they don't even allow Ellie to have that choice. Anyway, when i was fighting Abby, i wanted her to die, i didn't want to hurt Ellie. The game forced me to win that encounter, because they knew if we played as Ellie, Abby would be dead. I think that alone is a failing of the games story, no matter what growth both characters went through.

    We had a entire game to like Joel and Ellie. We were given no backstory except key snippets of Abby's life. The parts relating to Ellie and Joel. What did she do to join the WLF? What was she doing in her time in the WLF? All of these questions are never answer or hinted at. the best guess you could do is that Abby is 'the best Scar killer' so killing people daily. It just fells like there is a ghost game that would have bridged the cap between Part 1 and Part 2 that would follow Abby and Abby only and at the very end hint at her coming after Joel. Then we have buildup and we like for sure both characters, not because they have kids, but because we could feel bad for them. WLF kill all trespasser, you think Abby's never had to shoot a family? If you think about it, the WLF is a Hunter group, a group of people who freely kill people within there territory. Instead of for supply's, for ??? why do they kill trespassers again? Could you image if aside from Scar's, they accepted outsiders in, just like Jackson? Could you imagine seeing the same **** you saw in Jackson in the WLF? Then it would be a lot more questionable, but nope, they send kill squads around to kill anyone that isn't WLF.

    Anyway, this review is getting long, i rated it a 3 because the game play graphics and sound are godlike. The story however, has serious flaw

    I find it brilliant, entertaining, emotional, depressing, hurtful and especially different. This game is not about revenge and it’s moral message. It’s about redemption and the development of Ellie as a character after what happened in the first one. The story really adds up. Just play it with a non-biased open mind and you will see. There are so many messages provided that you probably don’t get them when playing it the first time (you might feel some of them though). The graphics are outstanding and rich in every detail. Each scene is well chosen and the sound gives the rest for a perfect atmosphere. It is really joy to play!! I also appreciate the incredible soundtrack with the emotional reference to the first one. It’s a dark emotion though. But life in the TLOU world is that way. Which makes it even more realistic. Only criticism here is that it’s a bit too long and the AI could be smarter.

    If you love the previous Naughty Dog games with its movie storyline gameplay you definitely should play this one too. If you are emotionally unstable and seek for open world or happy fun shooters, this one is probably not for you.

    Yes, the story could be different, giving it the chance to be like most the other games out there. But let me quote Joel: “I know you wish things were different. I wish things were different. But they ain’t!”

    Enjoy the ride!

I have a reason to give it a 5-star review well, I know that some people are just here to defend de game or hate on it and I get it, Im just here to tell MY opinion on the game. I bought this game when it came out and played and after I finished the game I realised that yeah naughty dog did put us in tears but if you see they fitted everything perfectly to make us cry and feel what the characters in game felt, naughty dog put us in 2 shoes Ellie's and Abby's they made us look at the same challenge but from different points of view and if you see not every video game does that right? Naughty dog made us HATE Abby at first but at least have some little mercy after making us play as her. Not only Abby if not our favorite main character Ellie they tried to make her look like a bad guy as well, they made us look at 3 different perspectives of Ellie and Abby which are 1 persona, 2 persona, 3 persona. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game met, if not surpassed, my expectations in nearly every way. This is a beautifully dark, complex tale that blurs the line between good and evil. This game made me feel emotions that are not necessarily new in video games, but I have never felt them on this level before. Yes, not all of those emotions are pleasant. This game, like the first one, was not made to make you feel all warm and fuzzy.
    I want to discuss one of the major criticisms I am seeing, the gameplay, and most importantly the story.

    First, I want to address one of the major criticisms I am seeing on this game: Joel's death. Many people are upset with the way they handled Joel's death. It was dark, heartbreaking, brutal and it brought out the hate in everyone (including most of the negative reviews that have not played the game), but guess what, that sense of hatred you got when seeing that fuels the entire game. Also, people are saying it is out of character for Joel to give Abby and Co. their names and to that I will say 1.) Tommy gave up their names first, and 2.) Joel gives up Ellies name to "strangers" at the damn in the first game. So for me that argument is just invalid.
    Let's talk about the gameplay in this game. The gameplay in this game is truly next level. It is (almost) perfect. My favorite part: the infected. I feel that the infected are done so perfectly in this game. Whether you are outnumbered and running for your life, facing a bloater head on, sneaking around clickers, or trapped with a new type of infected that seems like something out of nightmares. The infected are much scarier in this one and I loved every part of them. The contrasting play styles between Ellie and Abby truly make it feel like you are playing 2 different people. The combat is a bit more complex with newly added equipment and the ability to dodge and go prone. I believe people are just starting to scratch the surface of the combat system in this game. There are a few issues I'm sure will be ironed out such as Ellie (and Abby) not being able to grab materials or being sluggish to swap weapons. These are minor issues. The set pieces in this game are nothing short of amazing, taking a page from their Uncharted series. From running and jumping over gaps to get away from enemy gunfire, getting in a shootout while driving away in a truck, to climbing over a rickety bridge at the top of a skyscraper everything feels very in the moment and fresh. Perhaps the most important part of this game is the world they are in. The battling factions of the WLF and the Seraphites makes this world feel so real, getting caught between their conflicts and thrown into some very intense situations. Also, their portrayal of Seattle is amazing and is truly something you should experience for yourself.

    Now the story. You know what I'm going to come out and say it, Joel got what he deserved. In the first game he literally massacred the people who were going to save the world. Sure he did it for Ellie, but that was bigger than Ellie and Joel. This game does not shy away from that. Joel was not a good person and he was not a superhero. People die, especially in a world as brutal as this one. With Joel's death, Ellie's hate consumes her and you (the player) as you embark on your quest for revenge. Every moment bringing you closer and closer to Abby. It doesn't take long for Ellie to learn that Seattle is a warzone between the WLF (a firefly like militarized group) and the Seraphites (one of the most interesting post-apocalyptic religious cults in video game history). Just when Ellie is about to give it up and head home, Boom, Abby comes in to get more revenge for those Ellie has killed along the way. Before we find out what happens they then put us in Abby's shoe. When I started playing this I thought "I know what you're doing and I don't like it. There is no way I could every care for this character." I was wrong. Abby's story in this game is arguably better than Ellie's, and maybe even better than Joel's in part one. I know thats not what you wanted to hear but it is true. Getting to know these characters after you brutally murdered them with Ellie really makes you start to regret the decisions that were made. Also, Abby meets two of my favorite characters in the game, seraphite deserters, Yara and Lev. Some people say there is lazy writing, I'm not sure if these people played the same game. There are some very heartwarming moments in this game that will surely bring you to tears. This is a masterfully written tale that shows how hate can consume people and never has the consequences of your actions been more prevalent.

    Everyone has flaws, this is a dangerous world, and a truly heartbreaking story that everyone should experience. I will be thinking about this game for many years to come. One of the best games I have ever played.

I won't go into any major spoilers but I will reflect on the plot a bit as it is the most important aspect of the game and what separates it from the first one. When it comes to game play it's pretty much the same which is a good thing. Combat is fun, violent and heavy. All of it amplified by the downright beautiful visuals and sometimes realistic animations. What's changed technically is that the crafting is a bit easier and now that Ellie can climb just about anything you have a bit more verticality in ways of dispatching your enemies. I like how the enemy AI are bit smarter now as they try to flank you and rush you more often. When they are under cover they will duck as soon as they see you point your sights at them. A nice touch is how they react to any given situation. If they see a downed partner they will react in anger or sadness by calling out their name or warning others. They will clue themselves in on your position and if your gun goes click click they will let one another know "she's out get her". Things like that and the atmosphere is dreary but very immersive. New enemy types include dogs and 2 new zombie variants one of witch is great and the other a bit too similar to another. They do add some cool boss battles and set pieces that were much needed and I won't spoil. Dogs, in my opinion, were more of an annoyance then anything else it could have been left out. What I don't like is that the game was said to have several semi open world sections where there was only one. It's not that I cared for it to have them but to give you only one section of the game like that seemed a bit odd to me. Also, as with many E3 demos, the gameplay did not look near as fluid as it did in it's demo. I thought that demo looked overly scripted and it was. Now for the story. Poorly directed, poorly written and tonally everywhere. The highly controversial plot is actually a good one that makes sense but it is told in such a messy way that it constantly took me out of it. Story progression is interrupted with flashbacks in such odd places where the tone goes from 100 to 0 in a second. Characters act in ways that don't make sense and by the end you will not care about a single one of them. The main theme is thrown out the window by the finish line. I couldn't help but think to myself how much better the story would be if it went a different way and how the directors/writers didn't see it that way. Movies are not shot in order. They shoot parts of the end, beginning and middle and then edit them to be in order. This game feels like it was shot that way but someone forgot to put them in order. It even feels like 2 games in one. I give the gameplay, visuals and sound a 5 and the story a 0. It is a game that I would only revisit for the gameplay sections and skip the cut scenes. Expand

    This is a game where you can really speak of a director, because it feels like a long movie or like a blockbuster tv show. What Neil Druckman achieved is a new level of immersion into a video game. And he achieves that you can change the way you see the typical enemy, because at some point the game forces you to see the other side.
    And that's simply great.
    So many players posted negative opinions, because this game walks on new paths - it breaks the typical black and white story telling. If you read the negative opinions, read them carefully, if this will even matter to you. Most of them criticize how the story continues - they expected fan service.
    But if you understand games also as a meaningful piece of art, then this is the right game for you. You will be rewarded with challenging game-play and one of the best drama stories ever told.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a masterclass in AAA games. The visuals are incredible, and not just in terms of graphical fidelity but in terms of variety and imagination. Seeing a giant sweeping river through Seattle was breathaking. There was good pacing for the most part, straddling the line between exploration and action perfectly. I was really impressed how much space there is left to the player to explore and invest in the world. They could have bloated the meticulously designed locations with non-stop action as padding but they showed a lot of restraint in balancing exploration and action. There is a lot of diversity in tone too: when fighting humans it feels like an action game, when fighting the infected it feels like a survival horror game and it swaps between the two effortlessly. Action is fun and stealth is fun and one can seemlessly bleed into the other without any issue. I was particularly impressed by the tension in some of the encounters with the infected. Incredible atmosphere and sense of doom with the sublte low droning music. The new additions to the infected helped to keep combat fresh though I'm unsure how I feel about the use of stalkers in places. They certainly mix up combat and stealth but at times they were annoying.

    The acting and characters are great and the story it tells is actually quite a unique one. I'm impressed they really tried to do something new. It is fundamentally a story of vengence and forgiveness and the mindlessness and violence of tribalism. It's also a story of letting go and mental torture of obsessing over the past. It's ironic that this game has the same hate thrown at it that it is highlighting in it's story. It's the tribalism rife in social media at the moment spewing out hatred between people that could otherwise just get along or at least get on with their lives. Instead we are all meandering around obssesing with fictitious characters of people and we don't care to find out their context or communicate with them. By the end of the game I was on team Abby which I really didn't think I could be at the outset. Ellie just seemed broken and volatile, destroying everything around her when she should have been trying to fix herself. Abby was awful for sure but she moved beyond her past. The ending fight was poignant and brutal. I'm so glad it ended the way it did. With painful self-reflection.

    My main complaint would be that the last 10 hours or so felt a bit drawn out. Perhaps it's because I was playing on hard and being stealthy all the time against increasing odds ends up just feeling like work. Or perhaps in terms of the story, it is just inevitable that the story is drawn out when trying to construct two independent and linked story lines that are both fleshed out enough to care about the characters. Finally, I think some of the bosses are a bit unfair. If you haven't diligently stocked up with ammo they could even be impossible? I had almost no ammo left after the Rat King and I had to basically dodge him for 5 mins trying to get all the crafting materials I could to beat him. Add his insta-kill attack and it just wasn't fun after the 10th try.

The story itself felt rushed, without much in between the main events, this failed to make me feel empathy towards any of the characters' circumstances. Flashbacks were a lazy attempt to create character development and the only way to spend time with the characters you actually wanted to see in this game. At the end I wanted to have more time to play as Ellie and friends instead of the other character which was not likeable or relatable at all. It was frustrating and disappointing as a player. The story is very linear and the player doesn't have an input at all.
    Gameplay was not great either, some of the mechanics first introduced were quickly forgotten and left out, and the action felt forced and not an important part of the game.

    Melhor jogo do ano, disparado. Jogando até hoje e morrendo de rir dos "criticos" de enredo dando nota baixa para o game. O choro no final do ano será delicioso hehe.

    Played the game start to finish. Could not believe it was named last of us part2. I have waited 7 years for this game. The first one for me was the best game ever created with incredible characters and story. I finished it 16 times honest. Everything that made ma love the first one is missing in the second one. The first one for me was the best game ever created with incredible characters and story. I finished it 16 times honest. Everything that made ma love the first one is missing in the second one. Characters i was excited to see again are acting like different persons, they even have less screentime than the new ones. And the new ones ? They are incredibly bland and uninteresting.. And for the record i dont minde lesbians, female characters or anything. Its just that it doesnt work in this game. It was supposed to be about Ellie and Joel, period. What this game suffers from the most is the shock value. Somehow masters of storytelling, at least until this game Naughty Dog did the absolute cheapest and lamest decision in order to shock us. I expected much more from them.. Well at least this game taught me to never again be excited for something when it comes to good storytelling and never again trust Neil Druckmann as a writer. PS: 2 points for graphics and voice acting. Expand

    Best game I ever played! A worthy sequel! A true masterpiece! A must play! Don't listen to anyone telling you that the game is bad because it isn't. Do yourself a favor and buy the game! You won't regret it.

    Perfect gameplay, engaging story, all the characters have emotional depth and richness of details, this was one of the few games that really made me cry, and more than once, the graphics are trully beautiful, the game is long, it was worth the price paid!!

    I get that some people are not happy with things that happens throughout the story. But even if that is the case, you cannot deny that this game is very well executed. Graphics, sound, gameplay, acting is all excellent. So all the reviews that give this game a 0-5 score are just hating.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
