    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the game in 40+ hours first-run and mostly on Hard mode. My review includes SPOILERS.

    I arrived at the score based on the following point deductions: -0.5 for glitches and enemies seeing thru barriers for hiding, -0.5 for over-emphasis on the sexual themes and messages, -3 for story.

    I don't need to talk about the glitches and the over-emphasis on sexual themes. For me, these together caused a deduction of 1 point in total so it's not a big issue.

    IMO the story was quite annoying because it put me in the driver's seat as a player rather than as a viewer. Perhaps it would have worked better if I was watching a movie or show instead? RE story I say the following:

    First, it was very distasteful for me to have to use Abby after witnessing her kill Joel. Imagine someone spit some phlegm in your face and you try desperately to get it off asap, but you can't, and it becomes a slow and painful test of endurance. That's how I felt and I didn't like it. You are trapped using Abby for maybe 40% of the game. When it first hits you, you wonder when you are done with her so you can get back to Elly. I am a thorough gamer and I want to explore every nook and cranny. I mentioned my hours of play right away and you can see that I took like 3 times longer than the average gamer to finish. I suffered and endured the Abby scenario lol.

    Second, Abby spared Elly twice and spared Dina and her baby. Elly killed Abby's pregnant friend. Let's say the dads were a trade-off (considering Joel a dad). The only reason why Dina and her baby survived was because Abby spared them at the behest of Elly. Why would Elly still pursue Abby after that? I thought majority wouldn't, but perhaps I'm wrong. It also turned Elly into a bloodthirsty monster. It was difficult for me to accept.

    Third, this is the first game where I had a tremendously difficult time pressing the square button because of the story. This happened at the two Elly vs Abby sequences. I had so many openings to strike with the square button and I just didn't want to press it. This is what I meant about better to watch this story than to play the story. When I was Abby, I really didn't want to hurt Elly. The same applied vice versa. It was a driver's seat that I didn't want to be in.

    Final thoughts... I gave the game a full chance. I headed in not knowing the spoilers. I reluctantly endured the Abby scenario. For those that found Abby fun to play the entire time, kudos. I'll admit I developed a soft spot for her at the end, but it took a lot of endurance. If I had known this before I started, I wouldn't play the game unfortunately. I'm sitting on the fence 50/50 on whether I would play LOU3.    … Expand

I wanted to play as Joel, this game is just a lesbian girl trying to have sex with a peragnent mate and killing every body in the game except the one that deserved, the story makes you play as the f**king Abby for 10 f**king hours, can you imagine playing as the Joel's killer for a whole damn day, this is like having dinner with the person your girlfriend betrayed you with. hey naughty dog thanks for killing joel in the most stupid way that you could, and dear sony lets kill kraytos in the next game and play az his killer… Expand

I just finished this game and I can't even find words to talk about it. I didn't know what to expect going in. I avoided spoilers, but I knew it had very mixed reactions.

    This game is a profound meditation on the consequences of violence and revenge. By the end I was reconsidering my thoughts and feelings about all the main characters. The lines between good guys and bad guys blurred until it disappeared. I never started liking Abby or hating Ellie, but it did make me feel sorry for both of them. They were both put on a path towards revenge by someone else and it cost them both nearly everything and everyone they hold dear. I can't imagine a better image for that than to show Ellie coming home to the empty house.

    The Last of US was an amazing step forward for narrative in video games, but this one puts that to shame. This masterpiece may very well be the best storytelling in gaming, period.    … Expand

This is a refreshing new game, stunning mechanics and graphics, wonderful music, and such a brave STORY. Many people didn´t understand it but it is very complex and beautiful story. This is a masterpiece in every single aspects. MUST PLAY for sure. Be prepare for the most scary roller coaster everThe best game EVER! I started hating it right after they killed Joel in the most disrespecting way but let's just face the reality, we already knew it was supposed to happen any way and not everyone get to choose how they die. Joel's death was a big shock to me however I still continued playing it as the gameplay and graphics are 10/10 without a doubt. I seriously hated Abby so much but after discovering her side of the story I began to like that character, and I think she was way better than Ellie after how Ellie got annoying. No complaints whatsoever. Really liked Ellie in the end like she was so badass than ever before, and she let Abby go. Hence this shows no one was hero or villain, both continued to suffer as long as they kept stabbing each other's back.

    Best game ever, really enjoyed every single moment of it except for Joel's death scene of course but could have give us more time to play as him. Definitely loved the flashback scenes of both Abby and Ellie.

    I wouldn't mind if the game continues to get DLC featuring Joel as playable character, that would totally rock. 8/10 for the storyline and 10/10 for the graphics & gameplay    … Expand

Naughty Dog could easily have created a sequel that was another adventure with Joel & Ellie, and that would have been fine, full fan service but in the end forgettable. If that was a choice, the game would have had less meaning and less food for thought, you could say the same for the ending we got but thats how views are different.     Bit linear but story was really interesting.

    I don’t get all the hate for this game. I just got around to finishing it. And I have to say that I really enjoyed it! It did not hit me as hard as the first game. But it still was a great game. Nice story that makes you do hate certain characters at times(but in a way I am ok with), good game play IMO, awesome graphics for a ps4, superb acting and all that.

    Well, from a technical point of view, this game Is awesome. Stunning graphics, amazing sound. From a Narrative perspective, wow, this is a strong emotional game but in gameplay, I didn't find anything new. After a few hours playing I was moving forward only because of the story because I found a perfect recipe to finish my enemies.

    Due to all the negative comments I started game thinking it is going to be bad. I was looking hard for what I could dislike The game but sorry...it was awesome. Beautifull game, extremely well balanced with fantastic story. Haters gonna hate but it doesn't matter.

Es un juego muy bueno, sus gráficos son muy buenos, la jugabilidad es muy cómoda, sinceramente durante avanzas en la historia te das cuenta de tantos puntos muy específicos y hablando como una estudiante de psicología y a poco de salir, el adentrarte en la vida de cada personaje es muy muy interesante y muy bien desarrolladas. Tal vez a muchas personas no les agrada la idea de compartir o jugar la parte de lo que te hacen creer un "villano", pero te das cuenta que en realidad no hay "villanos" son personas que al final sufren pérdidas muy fuertes y que te enseñan que de alguna manera el buscar venganza y lograrlo (cómo lo hace Abby) no te da paz de ninguna forma, es más te aleja de las personas que siguen ahí y que te aman y sobre todo que estarán ahí para apoyarte y no dejarte sola o solo. Esa perspectiva que te dan tanto con Ellie y con Abby es simplemente fantástica, al principio me enoje mucho cuando Abby mato a Joel, pero después cuando comienza el viaje de Ellie con Dina, me di cuenta que en verdad no hay muertes dignas, Joel murió como una persona podría morir dentro de un apocalipsis donde engaño, mato, robo a personas que probablemente solo querían sobrevivir, claro que el también lo hizo por sobrevivir pero esos actos no fueron los correctos y al final sabíamos que un día Joel tendría un final así dado al odio que muchos personajes dentro del juego le tenían al personaje. Una de las cosas muy interesantes dentro del juego es que ocupan mucho la psicología del color con respecto al estado mental tanto de Ellie, cómo de Dina, Abby, y otros personajes, lo cual es muy importante porque todo esto se refleja dentro de los paisajes y escenarios donde están los personajes.… Expand

But of course, like all games, not everyone will enjoy It, but my advise is to not believe in critics or players, and just play it for yourself and give a chance for the game, and make your opinion by yourself.

    Just finished and I'm floored. I'll admit I was off put a little with the direction at first, but it ended up making for a better game. The character's motivations and seeing the story from the other side made the game for me. Absolutely blown away and it's top 5 along with Bloodborne and Spiderman. Don't listen to the moron entitled gamers that are sad a person that deserved to die, died.

If you are turned off by the game's twists and turns, notably playing as Abby, then I'm unsure you even played the full game. This game is a masterpiece. The violence and loss of life is remarkably captured that allows for the player to reflect on the characters, what they meant to you, and how they are presented in TLoU universe. Someone's hero is someone else's villain, and this game captures this perfectly. Revenge drives the game's plot, and the swap over the Abby may have originally seen out of place. When Abby killed Joel I was so ready to travel across the face of the earth, to do anything, to kill anyone in order to avenge Joel. When you are forced to fight Ellie as Abby it felt so wrong, but that's the beauty of the game. It takes you to a place that is so uniquely uncomfortable. YOU get to view both sides of the plot. This game is not like other stories, so don't try to view it as something as simple as a revenge plot soured by playing as "the bad guy." There is no "bad guy," or rather, every "good guy" can be someone else's "bad guy." This game is so hard to play at times because of how immensely powerful it is. You have to be very open minded to enjoy it and not leap to hate it as soon as a dramatic change is the story-line occurs. Ellie will always be my favorite but I was able to grow to also love Abby. I think the game makes this transition quite beautifully, and I beg you not be so critical of it. Crowd think is very powerful and I think the hate towards the game is mainly due to Joel's "premature" death, along with Abby's character build being so controversial that it manifested into a witch hunt, in other words, a scouring of the game's plot to find every potentially controversial aspect to serve those who are unhappy about Joel or Abby's confirmation bias. It's a truly magnificent game, and if you haven't played it on your own, please do. Go in with an empty mind (after playing the first game) and expect a great sequel to one of our generation's finest games, and you won't be disappointed. Actually, I think you will be blown away by how powerful it is.… Expand

It's got so much drama, pain, love, hate and action ... it got me so upset inside, no video game has done it before. Add to that these great graphics on the PS4 Pro .... wow! Everything is amazing in this game: graphics, story, gameplay, facial animations, atmosphere. The plot is very interesting and unusual. The way the developers were able to continue the story of the first part and develop it so unusually makes you clap standing up. At first, we think that Abby and her friends are enemies and villains. But then the game shows these characters from the reverse side. And it turns out that they are not so bad. By the end of the game, you even start to dislike Ellie. The finale is just gorgeous. It makes you think about everything that happened. The plot in this game is incredibly good and thoughtful. It is rare to find a game with such a story. The gameplay has not changed significantly, but it has new features. Facial animations are awesome. Summing up, I will say that absolutely all PS4 owners need to buy and pass this game. And for those who hate this game, I sympathize. Go play your Mario or Legends of zelda.… Expand

    A wonderfull masterpiece , even le people are review bombing it cause they don't agree with with some choices in thé game . This type of solo narrative games with this level of budget and love is realy rare . People who dont like this game want To lives in a world games as à service with microtrasctions everywhere.not me!

Не скажу, что на протяжении всей игры было плохо от этого, но после того момента, когда Эбби вернулась в океанариум, наступила жопа. Хочу сказать, что люди , которые поставили самые низкие оценки из-за того, что убили Джоэла слишком слабоэмоциональные. Да, мы все ждали его появления; да, его смерть была жестокой НО ЭТО ИГРА ПРО НАСИЛИЕ ПРО ЖЕСТОКОСТЬ ЛЮДИ КАМОН НИЛ ДРАКМАН ПОКАЗАЛ ЧТО ТАКОЕ НАСИЛИЕ. Я думаю его главная задача была не заставить нас переживать за персонажей, а заставить нас переживать за самих себя, так как было слишком больно смотреть на все это. Он хотел, чтобы мы получили стекло и мы это получили. Те кто хейтят Эбби, не знаю в чем их проблема. Она намного лучше Элли, намного. Сюжет сильный. Он заставляет задуматься. Это очень сильная игра, в которую нужно пройти ещё раз, чтобы понять все до конца. Нам показали, что наши любимые персонажи могут быть самим злом и это здорово.     Hard to fault. The pacing could have been a little tighter in areas and the game overall could have been a little shorter but in the end a great game. Definitely worth it if you're mature enough to enjoy a story that has fewer happy notes than most.

I’m fine with the so-called traumatic incident that happened, so my distaste isn’t due to that—it’s just that the pacing sucks and it’s all about running around scared and with the occasional stealth kills of the first game.     I learned a variable lesson today, always look at reviews, this game left me with a bad taste in my mouth and was unpleasurable to play at certain moments which made me not want to play and complete the game, but I had to see if this game had any good storytelling which it failed to show.

    now the story, the point that matters the most. the story, in my point of view, its AMAZING. so many things that are in a certain way hidden, left for you to interpret. they had to kill joel, how could he get away with the things he did in the first game? dont get me wrong, i love joel, but your actions have consequences, and thats one of the main masseges that the game send to you. ellie doesnt kill abby in the last moments of the game because she saw joel in her. come on, cant you see it? joel was taking care of ellie, a girl who knew nothinh about the world and aways saw the good inside him.

    What about the narratives aspects of it? Mesmerizing, yet imperfect. Thankfully, the weak story of one of the protagonists and its excess of (not so useful) flashbacks is fastly omitted by a great character study of these two beings and their arcs that resonates in a laudable theme. The choices that the developers went through the game are bold, but creates an emotional roller coaster to the player improving his/her experience.
    Conclusion? It's indeed a must play to all PlayStation user, the unification of an emotional plot and an active and incredible gameplay creates a truly wonderful game made with blood, sweat and tears from the developers and actors. Enjoy it.    … Expand

Me parecia muy similar al del primer juego y con demasiadas partes de walking simulator que me parecia identico a las partes aburridas de uncharted 4. Pero despues de haber terminado el juego,, me doy cuenta que esas escenas de walking simullator, de tirarle el juguetito al perro para que lo vaya a buscar 5 veces, son recontra necesarias. Hacen que uno termine arrepintiendose de haber matado a esos personajes 3 hs antes porq te das cuenta que ellos no tenian nada que ver. El gameplay evoluciona y supera claramente al del primer juego, aunq las mecanicas no son las mas novedosas, la ejecucion y el tono ultraviolento complementan de maravilla a esta historia de venganza.
    Ahora paso a la parte fuerte del juego, la historia. Simplemente la mejor historia de venganza que vi en mi vida. las decisiones de todos los personajes estan completamente justificadas en todo momento. Estoy seguro que yo haria todo lo que hizo ellie o abbie o cualquier otro personaje en su lugar. Cuando ellie abandona a dina para ir a buscar a abbie a santa barbara no tenia otra opcion. Ellie va a buscar a abbie para poder dormir. No tenia otra opcion. En ese punto ella ya sabia que matar a abbie no le iba a devolver la vida a joel, pero no iba a poder vivir consigo misma si no terminaba este asunto. Aun cuando le perdona la vida en el final, se re entiende. Despues de ver todo el sufrimiento, el mal estado fisico, el amor por Lev, ve que mas muerte no cambia nada, pero necesitaba pelear con ella para darle un fin a su obsecion. Al final, la venganza le quito todo a ellie, le quito a su pareja, a sus amigos y hasta su capacidad de tocar guitarra (que era su ultima coneccion con el difunto joel). Verdaderamente es un 10 este juego, aunq por momentos desespera, todo es necesario y te hace sentir cosas que otros juegos nunca pudieron.

The stealth in this game is done perfectly, and the soundtrack makes everything more intense and gets you more engaged. The NPCs in this game scream in pain when you kill them and call out the names of their fallen teammates when they're killed. This made every NPC feel alive and more real to the player. The game takes so many bold twists, alot of the events are very unexpected and surprising. This game literally put me in a war with my own emotions. People who say the story is about "revenge is bad" are reducing the plot to its absolute surface, there's so much more to it. This is easily one of the best story driven games of all time, probably the best sequel i could've asked for. The game isnt perfect, it has some flaws, but theyre all easily outweighed by everything else. There were moments while i was playing this game where i literally forgot these are fictional characters, living in a fictional world, thats how engaging and interesting it is.     This game is a dirty, rusty, cracked, piece of art. It does not attempt to make the player comfortable, and instead makes them feel uneasy, disturbed, and often sad. While you play there is a roller coaster of emotions, and all of them are masterfully crafted by the people at naughty dog. I absolutely recommend this wonderful, wonderful game.

I understand why some people hates it. This game has a complex group of emotions that is difficult to understand for some people. In my opinion story has no flaws but some people seems to not understand Ellie's motivations to have her revenge. More than loosing Joel she is angry with herself for not forgive him. That's why her only way to forgive herself is accomplishing the revenge and kill Abby. The only part that is harder to understand is why she didn't kill Abby at the end. I know Joel wouldn't like this Ellie but I think something Lev related would be a better way to go throw this path.… Expand

    The gameplay is very good and fluid, the story is somewhat repetitive but does not lose the thread of the plot, the graphics are excellent and you can see the detail they did in all this time; you fall in love with the characters and the stories that collectible documents contain. undoubtedly the best farewell game for play 4; cyberpunk has it hard.

    Me dejó un vacío increíble, igual que pasó con el uno. La gente de Naughty Dog está a otro nivel, este juego fue un cambio total en la industria.
    Es increíble, en mi opinión... Si el 1 fue una obra maestra este no se queda atrás. Entendí completamente porque al principio le tiraron tanto Hate. Pero esto no es un The last of us 2, es una parte 2. Y la decisión final que tomamos en el 1 lleva a todo lo que transcurre en esta segunda entrega. Es un juego que no es color de rosa, no es blanco ni negro, es gris. Y eso es lo distinto de el. Es un mundo apocalíptico en donde hay que sobrevivir y todos tienen maldad, ninguno se salva y lo que pasa en el es lógico. _
    Una obra maestra, de los mejores juegos que jugué, en todo sentido.

    Tienen que jugarlo, terminarlo y sacar sus propias conclusiones. SPOILER El final es esperanzador y te enseña que la venganza no sirve de nada. Al final Abby logra llegar con los luciérnagas siendo ella la "Joel" de Lev.
    Y por otro lado, Ellie vuelve a Jackson y se reconcilia con Dina, quedándose con ella y JJ. Y el momento que ella tanto espero... Perdonar y poder despedir a Joel, lo hace tocando su canción y recordando la última vez que platicaron.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
