This Is an artistic masterpiece by Niel Druckmann 5/5 in my opinion. Gameplay, sound effects, graphics were all top notch and pushed this Swann dance of the PS4 even Further ! The only negative I could find was the non advancement of Ellie s immunity, we didn't learn anything new about nor did it make the world of YOU advance in any way. Overall a beautiful and amazing game for the ages, should be played and taught in schools… Expand

    Based on the lou1 this a forgetfull game . Horrible plot the ending is meaningless. I don't think they delivered anything the writing is bad they didn't develop Tommy's character or others .I feel like they pushed way to much the theme of revenge. Even Sasuke would found this appalling.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Needless to say this is a Day and Night difference of opinion between critics and the general gaming public. Naughty Dog’s formula with games since the original Uncharted has been:
    Mediocre game mechanics. But amazing animation, set pieces, character development, and story telling.
    Unfortunately with this particular title significant character development and storytelling has disappeared. On top of this, it’s no secret at this point that the game is significantly longer then it actually needs to be. Inhabiting an additional character, who a majority of players can’t connect with or care about for obvious reasons. The final confrontation in the game easily being one of the most satisfying, then most dissatisfying moments in the story, not to mention video game history. Not to mention nonsensical.    … Expand

    The best video game I’ve ever played. This story is not for everyone, but this is honestly the best one I’ve ever had the privilege of listening to. The themes and messages are so powerful. It truly resonated with me. I still can’t stop thinking about it nearly 2 months after beating it.

    The Last of Us Part II is a worthy sequel. The gameplay was tightened up and improved, but the core remained the same. The graphics are good, but not great. The story is great, but Abby's campaign is not great. I remember the ending of the game, the message of the game is ambiguous. The game retains the thesis of the first part about the meaning of life and the struggle for it.

    This was for me the game of this generation.
    What a masterpiece!
    There are so many **** and plot twists that i really enjoyed. Gameplay wise its also truly 200%! Graphics, sound, combat, environments, animations, no game does it better. Thanks Naughty Dog, cant wait for Pt3.

Didn't read the reviews until I'd finished to avoid spoilers and I'm stunned at how half the internet seems to have it! The storytelling I thought was so clever and original. Initially when we went back a few days and relived the story as Abby I just couldn't wait to get back to the confrontation but seeing everything from Abby's perspective and seeing the hurt Ellie had caused really made me question whose side I was on.

    Joel's death was gruesome and horrendous, but Abby was trying to find vengeance for her father in the same way we had come to understand Ellie was. I was glad at the end that Ellie spared her. It seems there's no good guys and bad guys in the post apocalyptic world, just different shades of loss.

    Basically, I think I felt all the things the writers wanted me to feel and I wonder if maybe it was easier for me because I didn't play the first game (I just watched a recap on YouTube) so I wasn't quite as emotionally attached to Joel and Ellie as some other may have been.

    Story aside, so much of the game was immersive and visually stunning. Escaping from the scar island under the burning debris was incredible, as was much of the dark immersive parts with infected coming at you from nowhere, and the intensity of the sniper scene where you feel angry when he kills Manny only for you to then discover it's Tommy.

    It felt like a level of storytelling that wouldn't be possible in a film and for the first time in a very long time I was disappointed when the game ended and I wanted more.

    I really don't understand all the negative reviews, this experience was completely epic.    … Expand

The tidal wave of poor reviews is to be expected given the difficult emotional challenge presented by this story. It isn't a challenge you can overcome with a controller, but one you have to make right with yourself and your OWN lust for revenge.An absolutely stellar game from start to finish. It's a brilliant game which really portraits humanity at its worst when **** has hit the fan. It left me sad, somewhat depressed and thoroughly engrossed in the story. I felt it was extremely smart to give us the point of view of opposed characters. To all the people moaning about Joels death by the hands of Abby, please re-play both games and consider who the bigger monster of those two are/were... My only real gripe with the story is the apparent foregone conclusion thst the vaccine is dead. It's repeated over and over as an established truth. But keep in mind for p3 that Ellie, the immune, is still very much alive... That's the redemption arc I'd like to see down the line.… Expand

    If you mainly care about graphics and gameplay, this game is decent. But if you're like me, having at least a slight desire to enjoy a well-crafted story, then TLOU2 failed miserably on this aspect. If the graphics and gameplay scored 7, then the story scored a negative 5 since it ruins everything about this game, including the graphics and gameplay.

The original story made me cry and showed how fierce a father’s love for his daughter can be. The original game and story is the entire reason I bought a PlayStation and the sequel lived up to and exceeded that hype. Yeah it will be controversial but I think that’s necessary and it will shape the path of story driven games for years to come.     And I haven’t began with the soundtrack yet. It is perfect for a post-apocalyptic world like this. The songs are so great that you will want to listen to them again and again, reliving the moments of the game.
    The only thing that TLOU2 did not really develop is the side characters. They are there... and they are helpful... but you don’t really care about them that much. One the other hand, however, there is more time for the main characters to develop and it is worth the loss.
    I highly recommend it only after you finished the first part. It is a world perfect for complete immersion of the player.

Truth is they seem to be more hate on the game and characters that consumers were not ready to deal with.     An absolute masterpiece. Whether you agree with the direction naughty dog decided to take with the story or not I believe it’s fair to say this game still deserves praise for the outstanding graphics and gameplay. I highly recommend giving this game a play!

    Masterpiece ! I didnt think Naughty Dog could do it again but this was just a Mindblowing experience ! Gameplay is Top , and the Story is even better. A very emotional game that has you think about life and actions with consequences . The Coin has always two sides to it.

    I played the first game and it was amazing and the ending was so opened and now the second one is so similar everything is okayyyy Joel in TLOU1 lost his daughter and we also lost Tess and Sam and he’s brother but nobody said **** about it!


    Now we lost Joel to give us the same feeling as Ellie to commit vengeance and it’s a great way to feel the story but the cost is really high. They gave us Abby’s story to also know why they killed Joel and make us know that there’s no good or bad people only people and just like Joel and Ellie we could’ve played with other random survivors/criminals cuz that’s what they are.    … Expand

    The story is the heart of a videogame like this, and it just died. I feel like they wanted to defy what we expected and that's totally fine, but there must be a reward behind. Something that makes us feel that everything was worth it. Here that doesn't happen; in fact, it feels like the game punishes you for playing it.

Pero darle menos de 7 o incluso un 0 deja mucho que desear de los jugadores. Creo que el problema de este juego es que fue jugado en su mayoría por menores de edad, personas que no comprenden una historia compleja como esta o incluso personas que no se bancan muertes de personajes o la sexualidad. Joels death was cruel and people aren't complaining about that he died, they are complaining about the way he died. They advertised Joel in their trailers and he died 2 hours in. Meanwhile Abby was barely shown in the trailer and you are forced to play a character you hate for about 10 hours. I call this false advertIsement. The flashback scenes are really out of place and feels like they just edited them in, in the last second. The characters that die, barely get mentioned after they die. It is like they forgot that they ever existed. They are trying to make the player like abby and feel bad for her but it really isn't working at all. The ending was horrible, I tought FINALLY ABBY IS GOING TO DIE... but no. She gets to live after she bit ellies fingers. The reason to why she got to live was because Ellie got a flashback about Joel. That's literally the reason..… Expand

    Als Stand-Alone Game welches nicht mit The Last of Us in Verbindung stünde, wäre das spiel sogar recht gut! Erwartet man jedoch eine Stilgleiche (oder ähnliche) Fortsetzung zu Teil 1(so wie es eigentlich durch den Namen „Part 2“ impliziert wird), so wird man wohl nicht glücklich. Die Charaktere gleichen    Das Spiel schiesst leider komplett an den Erwartungen und wünschen der Fans vorbei..

    Als Stand-Alone Game welches nicht mit The Last of Us in Verbindung stünde, wäre das spiel sogar recht gut!

    Erwartet man jedoch eine Stilgleiche (oder ähnliche) Fortsetzung zu Teil 1(so wie es eigentlich durch den Namen „Part 2“ impliziert wird), so wird man wohl nicht glücklich.

    Die Charaktere gleichen denen aus dem ersten Teil kaum bis gar nicht, ausserdem sind die Beweggründe auch recht unverständlich. Anstelle eine anständige Story zu produzieren, hat man sich mehr mühe gegeben, möglichst viele Minderheiten im Spiel vertreten zu haben. Das ist an sich kein Problem!, jedoch macht sich Naughty Dog hier nicht die mühe, dann auch tiefer auf diese Themen einzugehen. Ausserdem ist das Spiel viel zu lang gezogen und enthält komplett unnötige und sinnfreie Plots. Zudem ist das Ende (und meiner Meinungen nach fast das gesamte Spiel) sehr sehr enttäuschend und unbefriedigend!! Das einzige gute an dem Spiel ist das Gameplay, die Grafik und die Musik. Die Story und die Charaktere jedoch....

    Als grosser Fan von The Last of Us (PS3) und Remastered, kann ich TLOU2 NICHT EMPFEHLEN!!

    (Zusätzlich kommen noch falsche Versprechen sowie Flase Advertising von Naughty Dog hinzu. (Fake Trailer welche die Fans in die irre Führen sollen). Aus diesen Gründen 0 Punkte; nicht weil das Game an sich schlecht ist, sondern weil es nicht das Spiel ist welches Naughty Dog versprochen, angepriesen und vermarktet hat.)

TLOU2 challenges traditional experience of gaming: The player is no longer the savior of the (virtual) world, in contrary, the main character eventually gave up the task they determined to accomplish at the beginning (It sounds also a bit like TLOU) — it seems depressing, but we know “it cannot be for nothing”. I love TLOU2 for it’s an excellently-written story for mature adults, about loss, imperfection, and regrets in life. Those game players, who hate the game just because things did not go as they wish, should grow up. Keep up the good work Naughty Dog, and time will prove it’s a masterpiece. A fan from China.… Expand

    I am ashamed to say I was one of the internet rabble who hated on this game before I played it. At the suggestion of a friend I put all my pre conceived thoughts aside and decided to give a chance and thank god I did, it's amazing. Graphics, atmosphere, script, voice acting are all top notch, yep it's confronting all right but I grew to really enjoy Abby as a character and loved playing asI am ashamed to say I was one of the internet rabble who hated on this game before I played it.     The game has some of the best and most accessible gameplay and sounddesign, alongside amazing graphics. Sadly that's not why people such as me wanted to play this game. It was the story that attracted us, and that was also the most dissapointing part of the experience. Which is why the score is so low.     As much as many people say that history sucks, this is a lie, because it is really necessary to have maturity to understand this game. The last of us part 2 is a really good game at all; in history, graphics, gameplay, mechanics and also realism. It's an almost perfect game and I recommend playing.

    TLOU Part 2 improves upon every aspect of the first game and blows other games out of the water. The graphics, environment, soundtrack, voice acting/motion capture and attention to detail are second to none. Naughty Dog took a big risk with the storyline and regardless of how you feel about it, it generates so much more discussion and attention than any game out there. I was initially disappointed with Naughty Dog upon hearing the leaks, but upon playing through I can say this is both my favorite game on the PS4 and one of the most well executed video games of the past decade. The fact that Naughty Dog could make myself and so many others care about fictional characters in a video game is a testament to the incredible work they put in.… Expand

El juego a nivel técnico como los gráficos y efectos visuales es un 9.7 o 10 pero ami eso no me interesa y por eso lo calificó como un 4 porque a mi lo que considero mas importante es la historia y para mi la historia de este juego es una cargada llena de conveniencias y cosas absurdas y eso me enfurese porque pudo ser una historia igual ala del 1 o casi cerca de serlo pero en vez de eso no le llega ni a una cuarta parte de lo que fue el 1 y mis razones son fuera del juego los trailer engañosos, las conferencias del neil drucman diciendo cosas que no podemos hacer por ejemplo no matar perros que por huevos el juego nos obliga a hacerlo y en el juego en sí el pobre desarrollo de la narrativa y personajes tanto principales como secundarios aquí no se que les paso pero es una mierda la narrativa son conveniencias por donde lo mires y no es 1 o 2 toda la historia esta llena de convenie CIA como abby buscando a un hombre llamado joel y dando con el pese a no saber su aspecto físico o como una manca si lo leíste bien una manca recién salida de cirugía ayudándola cuando tommy esta a punto de mandarla con su padre en fin estos son sólo ejemplos de lo mal estructurada que está la historia y si una historia puede tener conveniencias pero no estar totalmente hecha de estas casi finalizando esto es más el apartado de critica profesional ya que disen que el juego es casi perfecto y que debes gaster una buena dinerada para jugarlo ya y esto me 0arese una mierda por 2 motivos primero porque el juego está muy lejos de ser como lo puntual máximo sería un 6.8 o 7 aló mucho pero eso de intentar hacer que los jugadores nos gastemos 60$ en un juego que aquí en Colombia eso no es precisamente barato y creo que hacer esto es de unos sirvenguenzas porque muchas personas no podrán recuperar ese dinero y yo lo digo por esperiencia propia porque me toco comprarlo digital por la pandemia y al ver lo que fue no podía recuperar por lo menos algo del dinero que me gaste revendiendolo como si pudieron hacer muchos otros y ya para finalizar si alguien que esta leyendo esta review porque quiere saber tanto opiniones positivas como negativas le digo que en vez de gastarse 60 $ en este juego mejor que se compre el the last of us 1 que en play4 cuesta 19.99 $ o el ghost of tsushima que cuesta lo mismo pero tiene una historia mucho mejor implementada tratando de la misma temática que es la venganza PD: si a algún fan aserrimo de la saga lee esto y no le gusta y empieza a insultarme por decir mi opinión le digo que cada persona tiene sus propias ideas y opiniones así que deje de defender algo que para mi me párese malo (esto también va pa los pogres que se ofenden con nada y quieren cambiar a personajes ya establecidos pa sentirse cómodos aunque no vaya a ver ya sea la película o jugar el juego)… Expand

    I just found this game super boring. I didn't care about the new characters. I didn't care about the story, which was super generic and, in moments, really shallow and predictable. I didn't like what they did to original characters and feeling of the original game.
    that said game art is truly outstanding. shame the story didn't follow

    Excellent sequel. Top notch acting, facial animation & dialogues serve a good story, probably too subtle for an audience used to play a hero against a super villain. Gameplay loop is addictive, realisation is flawless. A must play if you're an open minded and mature gamer.

    Utter trash, hour six and had enough. I loved one so much and feel kind of betrayed with the story, I did loose a bit of cash trading it in but I don't care, felt guilty that some other poor soul may purchase it after I traded it in.

    Last of us part 2 may have good graphics, and have added to new features of mechanics that the last game didn't have. However story wise it falls flat on its face. For a narrative driven game, that's a big no no. It completely disregards the characters nature the previous game built and destroyed them. It's sad really, I was really looking forward to this game too.

    This game is the best game created gameplay wise , with the most advance technological feats I have ever seen or played. The story is great too, though not quite as good as the first, it still is very strong, with great characters with believable and nuanced motivations and personalities.

    This game is an absolute masterpiece 7 years in the waiting well worth it. This games story is something different and unique and really realistic and true to characters. Its an emotional experience and really dark at times. With some minor flaws of pacing like half way through the game it throws you back ain the beginning with another character to show their point of view.

    Really really really bad story, one of the worst stories in history. Everything is perfect in this game except the story. It really should not win the “Game of The Year” award because of the horrible story.

    Many people really hope that the game makers do not get this award so they can learn a lesson, they really do not deserve this award.

The answer is very simple, and it does not only concern the ground level plot and how it is awfully slammed inside the game chronologically speaking, but even all the terrible actions that Naughty Dog and Sony made when the leaks came out.     They have Destroyed the franchise ;It s like what Konami did to Metal Gear Solid.
    the Story is terrible and they were lying about story since introduction.
    I am deeply disappointed at Naughtydog.
