    LOVED the first one. Just finished the 2nd one. I liked it, I guess, but I'm still disappointed overall. You've already read all the reasons why, I agree with them. I'm going to replay the first one again.

    El juego es muy bueno entiendo que la gente se moleste porque parece novela o la historia es mala o cosas así, pero hay que ver las cosas buenas del juego la historia en si no es pésima esta estable, maso menos la jugabilidad la mejoraron mucho y esta excelente es el juego de ps4 con mejores gráficos y es entretenido.     It's definitely not my cup of tea. Like many fans of the original game, I wasn't expecting a character assassination of my favorite protagonists. The gameplay and graphics are excellent as expected, but the story is one that never needed to be told. It's 30 hours of your life you're not going to get back. Very disappointing.

O jogo é bonito, tudo que se espera de um jogo AAA, porem, tudo o que fez o jogo ser o que é foi perdido, conseguiram destruir a sequencia mais fácil da historia, parabéns aos envolvidos, a ideia de jogar com a personagem que vc esta querendo matar foi horrivel, uma das piores experiencias em jogo que eu já tive, tentaram criar um empatia com "vilã" do jogo de empurrando isso goela a baixo, todo o sentido do jogo se perde quando na teoria tudo já tinha terminado, e a Elie volta a querer "vingança", depois que o Tommy vai tacar umas verdades na cara dela, aparentemente determinada, quando chega a oportunidade de conseguir a vingança, ele deixa isso pra lá, ou seja, todo a motivação de jogo, se torna extremamente frustrante pra que esta atrás do controle… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Flashbacks insult the viewers intelligence, while also not establishing emotional sympathy. Like I would have cared more had Joel's death not come in the first 2 hours of the game, then the game is spent using him in flashbacks. What's the point of killing him if he shows up every 2 chapters?

    Why do I care about any of these flashbacks if he's already dead? Flashbacks are used when you think a viewer can't recall information or you're telling something **outside of the larger narrative.** When all of the flashbacks happen within the time-line of The Last of Us-The Last of Us II. It doesn't make sense to tell them as flashbacks, if even they are vignettes of the characters life during "peace time" it doesn't make sense to constantly jump to them in the middle of a war.

    I don't care about "ye olde good days" if they have no real barring on the current situation besides being a late exposition/lore dump, that again could have been told within the cannon narrative timeline.

    Why make me sympathetic to a character after they kill off the main cast, if you're gonna spend half the story on them? It makes the viewer resent the character and makes it harder to care for their plight and establish a connection.    … Expand

La historia es justificada y aunque sea una tragedia, disfrutas el juego de una manera nostálgica, melancólica, te llena de ira, de querer vengarte. Sin embargo, conforme avanzas en la historia, conoces el otro lado de la moneda.
    Nunca me he sumergido tanto en la historia de un juego, si naugthidog quería hacerte sentir tan estresado y frustrado, lo lograron. El juego termina de destruirte con el ultimo acto.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The problem with this game isn't that it is "too depressing". You can make a depressing story that makes sense and makes you like it. I was unable to complete it (it is so bad), instead I've read the plot summary. And you know what? No matter how I looked at it, I felt that the whole plot was very very familiar to something I've read before. If you think that the problem of this game is that "they changed the writer", I wouldn't be so sure about it. The thing is, I have a hunch that the first game was a copypasta of some another, less-known (in the west) story. But let's talk about TLOU2. There is a certain, currenlty untranslated, Japanese visual novel by the name Soukou Akki Muramasa. In the prologue of the game protagonist is a certain high-schooler who tries to investigate the death of his friend. At the end of the prologue, he is suddenly killed by a detective who solved the crime and who the boy considered a hero. Fake protagonist killed after a few hours of the game, sounds familiar? Also, revenge and the preciousness of human life is the main theme of the game. The difference is - Soukou Akki Muramasa actually makes you relate to the "villain protagonist" for real, to understand his reasoning and life philosophy. He isn't a cold-blooded killer, he is a person who is forced into his circumstances, a person who kills with his eyes wet from tears and heart wrenching from pain. A very deep and complex character, one of the best protagonists ever. In comparison, Abby...well, she is just trash. At the end of Soukou Akki Muramasa, the protagonist would be forced to make a choice. To kill an evil man for the sake of revenge, or not to. And as it is a visual novel, you will be given an actual choice. By choosing not to kill you actually get a true end. Sounds familiar? But the difference is - the protagonist of Muramasa wouldn't kill the man not because "killing is so bad", but because he understands his own sins, he realized that a person as sinful as he is has no right to seek revenge. It is very deep, very touching, and emotionally impactful. What I want to say here is that The Last of Us Part II tries to tell you the story that actually could be pretty good if done right, but it fails miserably. Moreover, it goes against the expectations of those people who loved the first game. If the first and the second games were actually written by the same person then I can be pretty much sure that he is just a copywriter who got lucky with his first attempt, but not so lucky with the second.… Expand

    There are games, and there are stories.
    This story will make you think nothing is right or wrong in the world, it depends on the perspective. What an emotional rollercoaster till the very end. I have to say the story takes a notch higher than the first game through multidimensional character development

    Full of details that pretend to shock you but not with a great purpose, this could be a great history but it does not feel like the continuation of the first one.

    Melhor jogo que eu já tive o prazer de jogar em toda a minha vida, um dos melhores gráficos que eu já vi, gameplay fluída e divertida, henredo maduro e bem desenvolvido, e personagens extremamente cativantes e humanos. Perfeito...uma pena que nem todo mundo reconheça isso.

    El juego es una obra de arte tanto técnico como gráficamente, historia pudo haber sido algo mejor, el hecho que mataran en la 1ra hora de juego a Joel hace que pueda valor la historia, y Jesse merecía más protagonismo, su personaje fue desaprovechado.

    Good gameplay but the story is by far the worst a video game offered you in the last decade. It just does not fit anywhere into the story they ve created in the first part and all the forced diversity feels like a slap into the face, because they had their priorities like diversity > good storytelling to create this game.

    Visuals: A+ (Incredible that the "graphics" are achievable on dated hardware, but the real star is the variety of artistic assets, quality of animations, etc. Forgiven for re-using assets where hardware limitations apply.)
    Environments: A+ (As above, atmospheric visuals are world-beating. Semi-open world done well. Great for varied stealth approaches)

    Directing: B+ (Druckmann isn't Ozu, but it's still industry-leading. Cameras, pacing, scenewriting are all good in my opinion. Not perfect, but good. Epilogue detracts from this, as do some abrupt transitions and overuse of flashbacks.)

    Characters: B (ND took a huge risk in Abby. If you hate her then you'll probably hate a lot of this game. I personally think she is a great character. Other highlights: Dina, Owen, Joel. Weak points abound for Jesse, Manny, Tommy, Yara and Ellie. The last one being another thorn in people's sides. I understand why. Flawed but still industry-leading: Maria, Lev. I care more about all of these characters than just about any character in any other video game.)

    Story: B (I split this in two: 1 = narrative cohesion and plot is quite poor overall. I don't take much issue with the cohesion of the main game's events - they're wrapped up into a tiny 3-day package so that makes sense - but the epilogue is a painful addition. 2 = Narrative power. The narrative makes for extremely compelling gameplay and moves things along like a nuke has gone off. Extremely effective narrative in this sense).

    Gameplay: A+ (Game engine is robust and satisfying. Gunplay is awesome. AI is second to none. Difficulty is too forgiving at higher difficulties - you don't take that much damage. Large gap between survivor+ stealth sections, which are hard, and survivor+ gunfights, which are easy. Shows overreliance on super-vigilant AI to emulate difficulty    … Expand

    SImplemente un juego maravilloso, una montaña rusa de emociones, girtas, te enojas, lloras, ries en todo en toda la historia, no es juego perfecto pero si revaso mis expectativas, nose si supera al primero pero si es de lo mejor que hay en esta generación buena despedidia para ps4.

    Fantastic game even when it is not what you expected (history), amazing graphics, truly wonderful characters. Masterpiece that shocks you at the beggining of the adventure and makes you feel many hard emotions. Just one of the greatest games ever only hated for the fanboys that expected happy endings and beautiful smiles everywhere. In love with it forever and got my platinum trophy.

    Excelentes gráficos, ambientación y muy estricto detalle tanto a rostros como todo el juego, un juego que debes jugar, lamentablemente la dirección del juego no fue aceptada por el público debido a que no fue un producto fanmade, pero siendo objetivos es arte este juego.

    No voy a perder mi tiempo en contestar a todas las estériles críticas de usuarios escupiendo vitriolo por las teclas, muchas de ellas premeditadas tras las desafortunadas filtraciones de Mayo, las cuales pude evitar en su totalidad. Recomiendo eso sí, filtrarlas sin ningún tipo de piedad. También recomiendo entender qué es The Last of Us, que parece que muchos presuntos fans todavía no se han enterado y prefieren idealizar personajes, santificándolos y haciéndolos a algunos hasta mártires.

    Puedo hablar de mi verdad, basada en mi experiencia tras cuatro partidas que me han llevado entre 26 y 31 horas de completar esta trepidante historia. No miento si digo que nunca pensaba que un videojuego pudiese hacerme sentir el torrente emocional que consigue generar este juego. He sentido la ira e impotencia que acompaña a Ellie en esta huida hacia delante. He sentido el dolor por la pérdida de un ser querido, el vacío existencial, la lucha interna. Me he cuestionado a cada paso el valor de las acciones de las que era cómplice. He aprendido a entender la subjetividad de toda historia, de cómo siempre existen distintas caras de una misma moneda. Y sí, por qué no decirlo, he odiado a Abby con toda mi ansia, pero también he llegado a preocuparme por ella. He vivido su trauma, su obsesión. Me ha partido el alma ver el alcance de dicha obsesión y he tenido que pasar página, entender que no era ese monstruo de mi imaginario. Agradezco que me hayan dejado ser el bueno, el feo y el malo. Me encariñado con esos complejísimos y fascinates personajes, para luego también, Neil Druckmann y Halley Gross, recordarme su reverso tenebroso en los momentos más inesperados.

    También debo mencionar lo que me ha encantado el diseño del juego y la jugabilidad. He sentido esa hostilidad de ese mundo postapocalíptico. La escasez, la angustia, la lucha por la supervivencia a cada paso. Por qué no, he llegado a preguntarle si matar o no a esos enemigos con nombre (algunos de ellos perros). Cómo se siente cada nivel, las opciones que te da para afrontar la acción. Siento que se consigue una sensacional verosimilitud entre el diseño de cada nivel y el estado emocional de tu personaje. Sientes llegar agotado, exhausto en algunas ocasiones al final de cada parte, tras los incontables peligros a los que te tienes que enfrentar, con situaciones asfixiantes y cargadas de incertidumbre a cada paso. También creo que es un juego donde los desarrolladores saben respetar la inteligencia del jugador para resolver las situaciones. Aunque sea un juego lineal, los enfrentamientos se pueden resolver de mil maneras diferentes y siempre me he sentido honorado, dando igual mi enfoque.

    Para poner la guinda, la conmovedora y magistral banda sonora del gran Gustavo Santaolalla. Aún retumban en mis tímpanos esos íntimos acordes de guitarra cargados de significado, trasladándome a esos momentos e incluso gastándome alguna lágrima, por qué no, algunos de ellos.

    ¿Y hay algo que no me guste de esta rotunda obra maestra? En alguna ocasión, mi aliado se ponía en medio, resultándome algo molesto. Algún que otro bug también he experimentado. Pocos peros le puedo poner a esta segunda parte de la que es desde ya, una de mis historias favoritas en cualquier forma de entretenimiento.

    Y a la pregunta, ¿hasta qué punto lo recomiendo este juego? A cualquiera ame los grandes dramas, tenga cierta madurez emocional, una mentalidad abierta y entienda que es un juego duro, al que le da igual lo que pienses acerca de sus personajes y no tiene escrúpulo alguno en hacerte salir de tu zona de comfort. No es para todo el mundo, pero si entras dentro de esta pequeña descripción, seguro que encuentras la experiencia digna de tu tiempo.    … Expand

    Este juego está entre lo mejor de la generación. El gameplay supera en todo a su antecesor. La historia puede gustar más o menos pero impacta mucho. Técnicamente es lo mejor de la generación junto a Red Dead Redemption 2. No le hagan caso a las malas notas. La mayoría son haters de Sony que no tocaron el juego ni con un palo y también se encuentra gente homofóbica.

    After finishing this game yesterday. I have very split feelings towards this game. Personally I was expecting more parts about Joel , Ellie even Dina. Abby’s story is forced and pretentious. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the gameplay and the environment design. My heart is broken with the ending. As I played guitar for many years I could imagine and feel the pain of losing the fingers ( I hate this plot) , and I also hate how they picture everyone in this game so pathetic. In the TLOU 1, as least there were some hopes and brightness. TLOU 2 is pure dark and sadness. I couldn’t sleep well after this game. Ellie’s ptsd trauma haunts me as well :(

    As a movie , the cutscenes , the flashbacks (especially Joel’s part) moved me quite a lot. I appreciate the emotional thrill brought by this game. Never had any game given me this feeling. As a game , there are moments make me don’t wanna play, I suffer more than I enjoy. Not sure if it’s a good game supposed to be. El juego como casi todos lo odie antes de que saliera, las filtraciones, la muerte de joel, ese supuesto final en el que Ellie y dina supuestamente morían lo odie con toda mí alma. Luego de que saliera vi un par de gameplays y no me convencía y también lo odiaba un poco. Pero como me dijo un amigo mío "no puedes juzgar un juego sin haberlo jugado, no importa cuántos gameplays, directos, videos veas, no se compara con jugarlo y vivirlo tu mismo" a la dos o tres semanas que pasó el juego me lo compre y me lo pasé y la verdad es que mí amigo tenía razón. El juego me encantó se nota que Neil Druckmann quiso hacer algo diferente pero al mismo tiempo no perder la esencia del primero. Los espacios abiertos de combates, los gráficos, la jugabilidad de las mejores en mí opinión, la música, del gran Gustavo Santaolalla y especialmente la historia tan criticada a mí me encantó. Aunque parezca una simple historia de venganza Neil Druckmann la logra hacer de una manera tan clara, con suspenso, perdidas y tragedias que me parece una maravilla. Y aunque me odien por lo que voy a decir lo diré: logré empatizar con Abby y me parece un personaje igual o mejor que Ellie. Porque? Abby solo tenía un unico objetivo, matar a Joel, dejo vivir a Ellie y a Tommy, ella se dio cuenta que perdió todo y que matar a Joel no le va a devolver a si padre. Luego de que Ellie mata a todos sus amigos ella la deja vivir nuevamente. También ayuda a Yara y Lev, integrantes de una faccion que habían matado a varios de sus amigos lobos y aún así los ayudo y los rescató más de una vez e hizo cosas como matar a sus propios aliados o sacrificar su vida, superar sus miedos a las alturas, engañar a su faccion y luchar con un infectado horripilante solo con tal de conseguir medicamentos para la operación de Yara. El final me pareció de lo mejor les juro que al ver a Ellie caminar hacia la nada dejando la guitarra de Joel en esa casa abandonada y empezar a escuchar esa hermosa melodía (beyond desolation para el que la quiera buscar) me sentí vacío. El juego me encantó no merece ser criticado tanto como se lo ha hecho se nota que le pusieron empeño y trabajo. Es una obra maestra en mí opinión. Lo juego y lo seguiría jugando porque me encantó. Con lo que voy a decir a continuación mi propósito no es ofender pero lo diré (aunque se que alguno se va a ofender). La mayoría de las personas que critican con los mismos argumentos (murió Joel, Ellie perdona a Abby, es políticamente correcto, etc) el juego obviamente solo lo han visto mediante gameplays y no han tenido la oportunidad de jugarlo, pero si alguna vez la tienen juéguenlo porque es un juegazo muy recomendado. The storytelling is compelling. Most of the negative reviews seem to be based on a dislike of how the story unfolded for the main characters. I certainly felt conflicted about the overall plot. But the way the developers force you to grapple with your own moral matrix and sense of right/wrong.     For me is 12 out of 10! Amazing game, no doubt. Great story, directed in very interesting way. Loads of story twists and jaw dropping moments on the way! And to most precious thing in this game is climate, with perfectly chosen music.

    Everything about the game other than the story is great. Ellie and Joel have been dumbed down to the point where they feel like complete different people altogether. I do not recommend anyone buy this game for £50 like i did wait for a sale or buy a used copy. this game is not worth full price.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is nowhere near deserving of anything above a 5. I’ve chosen 3 but would more aptly have chosen 3.5 and this is for 2 reasons:
    The game is a technical marvel and Naughty Dog’s artists and engine engineers deserve a lot of credit - the game is stunning, one of the best this generation. The game also includes flashbacks between Joel and Ellie and these really flesh out and build upon the relationship of the two living there life in Jackson. It’s heartwarming and really beautiful and if any characters had anything resembling this level in Part 2, the game would’ve been at least a 7.
    Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
    This review is mainly focused on the characters and story, as gameplay remains largely unchanged from the first game. This is subjective but I enjoyed the stealth, the flanking, the survival tactics and the collectibles. I think aiming before shooting grounds the game and gives a sense of realism - these are just poeple trying to survive with guns, not trained soldiers. If you enjoyed the first game’s gameplay or the multiplayer, the gameplay here feels no different.
    Essentially, the games major flaw is there is no realism or emotion between any of the characters in this game. The player takes control of Ellie, on a mission looking for Joel, who goes missing. She finds Abby, the daughter of the surgeon Joel kills at the end of Part 1, beating his head in with a golf club. The game then rewinds and now we’re playing as Abby. This is such a gut punch and lurch of coherence and fluidity, and the rest of the story becomes an utter mess of choppiness, flashbacks and jumpcuts that make it really messy and hard to follow. Abby herself is really unlikeable and is hard to sympathize with. All of her allies we meet in the space of 10 minutes and maybe have another 20ish minutes of cutscenes with them in which the player has no time to connect with them, until Ellie murders them. Ellie’s friends suffer a similar fate at the hands of Abby, except Tommy (Joel’s brother) and Dina (Ellie’s girlfriend.
    Ellie herself is also extremely unlikeable, having become bitter about Joel not sacrificing her in the first game to create a vaccine (Ellie has the game’s fungus on her brain which turns most people into zombie-like creatures but Ellie has an immune strain that would create a vaccine but she would die having it removed). The issue is, it’s played out like... It’s not even played out like an edgy teenager who’s dad will never understand her. Ellie, 19 or 20, is played like a 12 year old who didn’t get this years new phone. It’s bratty, childish and not at all the independent, strong and witty Ellie we knew from Pt 1. There’s also a strong “we hate all men” vibe from a lot of characters that is strange and uncomfortable.
    I would like to make a small mention of Dina though, she’s the only other character apart from Ellie and Abby that is somewhat memorable. Her and Ellie’s interactions are usually very cute and touching and go someway to humanizing them both. I ESPECIALLY enjoyed the farmhouse scene, where, after a battle with Abby, the game cuts (as it usually does) a few months ahead and Ellie and Dina are living in an abandoned farmhouse that they’ve repaired and they are living with Dina’s baby son and rearing animals. It’s possibly the best scene and area in the game. It all comes crashing down when Tommy comes around, tells Ellie he knows where Abby is, Dina quite rightly says to Ellie not to go or she and the baby will leave but Ellie goes anyway, which is really stupid and none-sensical. Had the game ended on the farmhouse it would’ve been leagues better.
    So Ellie finds Abby, who had been kidnapped and beaten almost to death and then crucified by some slavers and Ellie cuts her free. They then head to a nearby dock to escape by boat. Before they can, Ellie sees Lev, a young boy Abby had been travelling with, laying in the boat and Ellie threatens to kill him unless they fight. With their fists. In a survival of the fittest, underhand tactics, we have guns world. It then becomes a quick time event, where Ellie gets the upperhand, has a PTSD flashback of Joel, lets Abby leave and walks away. Cut to the farmhouse, Dina and the baby are gone, Ellie picks up a guitar and tries to play but can’t because she lost some fingers in the Abby fight, cut to flashback of Ellie teling Joel he should’ve let her die in the hospital, cut back to Ellie walking away from the farmhouse, ends.
    Let’s all hope TLOU3 is never made or if it is with Druckmann and the current management who made ND work 100’s of hours far FAR away. Until then, ND staff at the bottom, get out and never look back.    … Expand

    Gameplay is still the same boring thing uncharted did much better.
    Took months to finish then delayed it to try and make more money. Hope it fails.

    I think it is a great game, the story is good. The gameplay is very renovated and good. The only thing is the final, so opened. But the entire game is great.

    My first game was Pitfall. Or Megamania. Attari console. Circa 1982 or 83. Since then I've played most of the best games, the "game changers" and the ones that created a new quality benchmark. The Last of Us II is the only one that made me cry. Congratulations to its developers. It's a delicate piece of art.

    The Last of Us 2 is for me the perfect sequel that could’ve been made. The way that they connected the first game and how they make you see that every story has two sides defines a perfect storytelling for me. Unfortunately Seth conflict was absolutely unnecessary for me, but since it didn’t take a huge place in the game, I can forget it.

    The gameplay is perfect, and the graphics are amazing. The level design is so well made and the gameplay contrast between Ellie and Abby is great. I don’t get it why so many people got mad with this game. If you liked the first game, I really recommend you playing it. 9.8/10    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
