    Ive just finished the game.. This game is so fcking good i really dont understand all the hate.. I understand that you may not like story, but the music, the gameplay, the atmosphere is brilliant. You cant rate it 0, 1, 2 just for the fact that you didnt like some aspects of the story. You have to count on everything (story, music, gameplay etc.) I loved every single aspect of the game! Peace

    Yes, this game is ultimately a disappointment. It's story is generic, and the latter part of the game is overlong and embarrassingly pretentious. The game isn't at all bad, it's just nowhere near the perfect game the original was. If you were pissed about having to play as Joel at the end of the first game, you're going to despise playing as some of the worst characters ever in a videoYes, this game is ultimately a disappointment.     They took the wrong way with the story, doing everything they can to shock us and make fans angry. As a game it does not work. The game tries so much to be poetic and all that cringy stuff. But to be frank this game is not fun, and I don't recommend this game unless you want 20+ hours of depression and boredom.

    Amazing Game, piece after piece this is masterpiece. This game should be Game of the year. Incredible ending with interesting gameplay. This story is different then TLOU1 story, but it isn't dissapointment story, playble characters, crafting, infected and action stealth gameplay working nice. PlayStation has one of the best storytelling games ever.

    Not worth the effort, and Sony blacklisting people for negative review is just sad, investing in new Xbox and game pass way more value than the crap I got for sequel of a beloved game with nothing other than graphical improvements.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this is the lowest score I've ever given a video game. I'm also against "review bombing" which I originally thought this game was a victim of, then I played the game.

    It literally feels like the story writers wanted to **** on their fans as hard as possible. (Major spoilers ahead) not only do they kill Joel in the beginning (something I accepted and moved on from) but they force you to play as Joels killer (a boring ass character who was JUST introduced that I couldn't care less about) FOR HALF THE GAME. Blows my mind that the decision to play as NEITHER Joel or Ellie for HALF the game went through. I'm just so baffled that I'm being forced to play as a character I couldn't care less about. A game that could've been incredible just absolutely BRUTALIZED by a dog**** story and CLEAR anti-male influence. You can call me sexist/bigot all you want but its CLEAR that "strong woman narrative" was shoved down the devs throats. Your metacritic score is deserved.    … Expand

    Honestly, after 2 playthrough, this game is still very impressive.

    The gamepaly is very good .
    Graphic are awesome.
    So many little details you notice only after more than one playthrough.
    The story is you like it, or you don't, but that is only personal taste. I did like it.

    So many possibilies with each playthrough.

    TLOF 1 was my favorite game but now it is TLOU 2.

    The Last of us Part 2 it's a increíble, once in a lifetime, experience, with some flaws in the story, but the techincal details, inmersion in the psicology of the characters and the player itself make it unique. I would like to change some things in the story but still a great game

Then made us watch flashbacks of him looking old run down and wea. they had to transgender girl ruined her whole family because she wanted to be a boy and Ellie didn't kill Abby and her girlfriend left her whoever wrote the plot for this needs to be fired they took a game we all loved and made us hate all the characters if Ellie was so mad that Joel didn't let her Die For the Cure why didn't she have a baby… Expand

    Best grafics of the generation. Great plot twists and character arc. Dont know why people got so upset by plot. Great sound design (the clickers noise echoing gave me the chills). Improved gameplay upon the original.

    The soundtrack and the graphics are very good, the gameplay is the same as the first game, generic and repetitive, and the story is the point that killed the game, simply a shame in relation to the first game that has the perfect story.

    0 for story which is what made the first one amazing. Thank you for ruining it. I will wipe this from my memory and only live the tale of the first one through in my head. You have created an outlier like Lucas with episodes 1-3. Just absolute trash, please tell me at least one guy on the team was like, "nn...nnnnno don't." When you said LETS DO THIS. The only point where the Naughty Dog made an ugly mistake was in Joel's death. You don't kill a character you love so quickly and so early in the game. Other than that, the game is rated 10. Да первая часть лучше, во многом благодаря тому что она в три раза короче и рассказывает простую, но уникальную историю. Вторая же часть претенциозная, с абсолютно другим способом раскрытия истории, но при этом не менее уникальна чемИгра очень понравилась, обязательно пройду ещё. Это не первая часть и не продолжение первой части в плане сюжета, это другая история на основе первой части. Да первая часть лучше, во многом благодаря тому что она в три раза короче и рассказывает простую, но уникальную историю. Вторая же часть претенциозная, с абсолютно другим способом раскрытия истории, но при этом не менее уникальна чем первая. Легко могу понять почему игра может не понравиться, но всё же призываю людей шире смотреть на вещи и не быть предвзятым к новому. Геймплей и визуал безумно вкатили, я и первую часть прошёл уже раз шесть потому что мне очень нравится именно играть в last of us, а во второй части это просто за гранью возможного в моем понимании. Сразу после финальных титров повторно прошёл ещё пару арен потому что не наигрался. Из минусов для себя отмечу неуместного «босса», финальную драку и редкое ощущение, что я играю в uncharted, а не last of us. История 8/10 из которых один бал за уникальность, геймплэй и визуал 10/10. Для сравнения первая часть, история 9/10, геймплей и визуал 9/10. Ставлю 10 потому что категорически не согласен с тысячами нулей от людей которые даже не играли. При другом раскладе поставил бы 8. Ну и повесточка, она есть. И плохо в ней что она очень толстая, прям «для самых маленьких». От игры с такой проработкой я ждал более изящного раскрытия лгбт тематики, что конечно разочаровывает. Но её мало, поэтому легко закрыл глаза на все это, впечатление от игры она не испортила.… Expand

I have to admit that the story got to me every second I played, the scenario, the tension that many parts of the game gave me was really good. I had no technical problems, I believe that is why my experience was really better than many people

People who didn't like the plot don't have the ability to strongly emphatize with others (Abby's side of the story). And even if you don't like the plot, it is just childish and ignorant to rate aDon't believe the 1/10 ratings. The game is absolutely beautifully done. Players do not know what they are in for as the story opens in relaxed settlement. It is beautiful and safe, but there is a sense of dread hanging in the air- unseen by the characters and felt by players. You know a conflict will begin soon. The sequence that begins the quest is painful to look at. Especially if you have the background and shared the experiences of Joel and Ellie from their journey across the U.S. What takes place in this sequel is heartbreaking for many reasons. Those reasons evolve and change. It will continually throttle your emotions and deliver one punch after the other. As the full picture unfolds, these reasons for the melancholic tale are only exacerbated as the narrative drags you further into these dark places. The game is not fun in the traditional sense. The gameplay is a fantastic, smooth experience. Detailed to the fullest with simple but effective and immersive mechanics and gameplay. It is fun to play. One large part of the game, however, is the very same story that I said is relentless. That is why it isn't fun. The story, while not fun, is immersive, engaging, and is entertaining... and messy. It undoubtedly has pacing issues. But these pacing issues are resolved as the narrative slowly intertwines and brings all its aspects to head before inevitably wilting into its end. The story gives the player time to experience wholesome moments of love to alleviate the heavy atmosphere, but before long, assorted pieces of the narrative's tone outweighs other pieces. The beats and progression of the characters and all their stories ebb and flow. The game explores humanity with a dive into the depths of the inky black emotions of hate, disgust, selfishness, and deceit. Eventually, there is a long slog upwards, but you really have to push and pull through the waves out of those depths. When you break the surface of the waters, you see little glimmers of hope like stars in the night sky. If we just squint we can see finer details that can highlight the better parts of us, the selflessness, sympathy, understanding, and forgiveness. We see the forest for the trees, and can analyze ourselves. How much do we really understand about ourselves? About each other? This games asks a lot of the player but it gives back. It is not a must play. It is a must finish. You may not like the direction the story goes, but it is worth the experience. It brings itself together in shaky, exhausted fashion that mimics Ellie and likely the player. Its tale comes to its simultaneously climatic and anti-climactic ending as it sends its messages home to wrap up Joel and Ellie's legacy.… Expand

The gameplay was dirty but beautiful, the acting was phenomenal, but most of all. The story was impactful. I know a lot of fans were divided by this game because spurred a lot of negative emotions but if you were able to look past the emotional, heartbreaking and also angering death of the one and only Joel Miller, there is a lot about this game that I found to be ambitious and beautiful… Expand

I truly can't believe they ruined this franchise like that, but oh well. It's very clear that 3rd one will never happen, because first off, nobody would invest on it, so they could make it. It's the real life, there is not just one point of view. It's how you identified yourself with the actions of each character. This game is not political, it's about humankind. Our society, how people behave when everything is chaos. It's a masterpiece. I think this game is made for people who is enough mature to feel each emotion of characters' decision.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The storyline is an utter mess, filled with bland characters and awkward dialogue. The game touches on interesting themes and ideas but the writing just isn't good enough to make you care.

    One of the main themes the game tries to explore is violence and whether or not it's justified. It tries to get us to think about how a violent act can create a cycle of violence that only leads to more misery and loss for everyone.

    One of the problems with this is that it's completely at odds with the gameplay. You are given an incredible array of customizable weapons and throughout the game, you murder so many people in all kinds of gruesome and horrific ways. The game even gives you achievements based on upgrading your weapons to a high level so they obviously want you to care about this side of things.

    You're also made to kill dogs and people to progress the story, you don't even have a choice it literally makes you stab dogs and beat people to death. This doesn't make sense because the game wants you to question your actions as a player but then the game forces you to do things you have no control over.

    The other problem is that the game brutally removes a main character from the first game and then half way through makes you play as the character that kills said character. It's not for a short time either, it's literally half the game. This decision has been praised as being 'bold' and 'brave' by some and in a way that's true but that doesn't mean it's good or that it was the right decision.

    The main reason anybody is buying this game is because they were fans of the first game. The main reason people loved it so much was because of the relationship between our two protagonists. The relationship between Joel and Ellie is the heart of the entire series and it's the reason people bought this game.

    The decision to kill off one of them isn't the issue, it's how and when it happened and what followed. Popular protagonists have been killed off again and again in every type of media. It happens in Games, TV shows, Movies and Books, and as long as it is handled well and progresses the story in a satisfying way people are fine with it.

    This game fails to do that.

    They literally tore out the heart of the series and nothing that followed made it worth it. The storylines and relationships that follow are nowhere near as compelling and emotional as the relationship between Joel and Ellie in the first game. They are pretty to look at and there are some nice set-pieces but they don't feel like they matter simply because you don't care that much about the characters involved.

    They could have made a compelling, engaging, emotional storyline that challenged the audience but when you remove the heart of the series it's almost impossible to do that. It's very difficult to get people to care about a story if they don't care about the characters involved. The emotional core of the series died about two hours in and in a game that is driven by its narrative this is a huge issue as it makes everything that follows feel a bit empty and meaningless.

    They try their best but they gave themselves a mountain to climb and they never make it to the summit. They really try their best to make you care about the people involved but none of them are all that engaging, empathetic, or interesting especially in contrast to Joel and Ellie's relationship in the first game.

    I guess the question is why?

    Why did they decide to go in this direction with this game? The game director Neil Druckmann said before releasing the game that "We knew people were going to hate it".

    I don't understand this at all, who is the game for then? If you knew that fans were going to hate it then why make this game? I understand not wanting to write a safe, fan service driven storyline but I don't get why you would write a story that fans would really despise.

    I don't know it just feels like they tried way too hard to subvert expectations and in doing so ripped out the emotional core of the entire series in an extremely unsatisfying way. It feels like a wasted opportunity to not just make a great sequel but to make more great games after this.    … Expand

    Im gonna preface this by saying i didn't finish it, i didn't even get very far. The characters are horrible and the story is bland. I think this was just project to see how woke you could make a game. Its just a shame that it had to ruin one of my favorite games to flaunt their SJW crap.

    In terms of the scenario, I’ve seen a lot of criticism of the scenario. Some of them can be quite understandable, because the scenario is writen in such a way that it will cause strong reactions in positive or negative. The story of this game is told without concessions. It is made so that players feel angry against certain characters, or feel bad about the actions of the characters they play. It is a choice of narration and I personally felt bad during my playthrough. But these sensations that the game managed to make me felt, is for me the proof that Naughty Dog managed to create a personal work with heavy meaning. More than a simple reflection on revenge, for me the game is the way to reflect on the regrets and the feelings that you could have face to a death. Players can choose to just don’t like the game because they don’t accept the death of one character, or don’t like a character because of its actions. In these cases, players are emotionnaly touched by death and the feelings caused by it exactly like the playable characters but don’t accept to see this fact.

    Finally, if you want to get into this game, be aware that you have to be ready to feel sad and angry as the game progresses. Some of you may not be able to finish it because you will not tolerate your negative emotions in the face of such negative situations or such characters. From a triple A developer like Naughty Dog who were the kings of videogame scriptwriting, it's deeply sad that they've written one of the most flimsy, insulting and plot hole filled stories ever to be released.
    I saw the leaks for the game but I still had trust in ND to make the story work, but sadly the story was even more disappointing when I actually saw it unfold. Previously well written characters are reduced to dull one note contradictions that oftentimes change their motivations on whim and only because the weak script needs them to.

    It's as if the writers didn't know where to take the story next so it relies heavily on shock value twists in order to mask the truthfully weak and paper thin story that it really is. The reason why the original game worked so well is because it told a simple story, but the whole point was to build a relationship with two characters that culminates to the last act and everything that happened before makes perfect sense. The sequel very much feels like it has no real point, and even though the game is even longer than the original, most of what happens feels like padding and this doesn't help the awful pacing issues.

    Positives? Visually it can be impressive, though I've still been way more impressed with other games, but it looks good. Gameplay can be fun, I like stealth games so when I'm sneaking in the grass trying for the perfect silenced headshot, the game can be satisfying.

    Sadly overall the game is just a gigantic letdown, and it's clear to me that the original game should've been left alone and never needed a sequel.    … Expand

    Most visually striking game outside PC. Combat is better than original, adding dodge, jump, and prone. Dialogue, music, and story all build on and improve on TLOU.

    Don't let all the butthurt snowflakes deter you. It's a masterpiece plain and simple. If only it were the other way around and Ellie died and Joel got revenge for her, then all these self-loathing women-hating basement-dwellers would be prematurely cumming on their waifus.    … Expand
