    Let’s be honest though - we waited for this game with the highest expectations because the first was amazing and riveting and heartfelt and passionate and brave - and ultimately, about building family without blood, and love without condition. And through the initial story we learn to appreciate the little things of beauty in this messed up world... In huge contrast to The Last of Us 2 - the story made me feel bad playing it. I was absolutely miserable in the second half of the game and frankly I stopped right after Ellie set off for her final show down. I ended up just watching the spoilers, because that’s how upsetting it was to have come this far not knowing who the hell I was controlling anymore.

    #NotMYEllie And on top of it all, Joel... my hero, the hero. The humanity. All of it crushed in by a buff chick I have no sympathy for... They may as well have forced me to club him to death at the beginning with my own square button - and I should have known right then, that I was not going to find any fun, any hope nor any consolation in finishing this game after buying it.

    Absolutely baddddd story telling. The only thing that made this game worth 4 stars rather than less, was the gameplay itself, the guitar functions and the flashbacks of Joel and Ellie, especially on her birthday. Otherwise, this game is smack in the face to its faithful fans and followers. How dare you? You should have just made the Last of Us, the LAST game in this story period - if this was all you could come up with. This is not what we wanted. Next time just ask us...    … Expand

But this piece of trash deserves nothing else. Graphics and sound are beyond anything you have seen before on PS4 .. True. But that is it. Gameplay is fun at certain stages, but nothing you have not seen before. You are on a revenge trip for Joel and then you have to play as the one who killed Joel? Seriously WTF. Stopped 1 hour after this happens, cant force myself to play any longer. Imagine any series or movie, where suddenly the most annoying character becomes the center point of the story .. Also loved the inclusivity. Now, I think getting rid of the main character as literal garbage in the second hour of gameplay is a really bad idea. We looked up for joel in the first game as our father and it's death wasn't commemorative as we hoped it would. I don't think having a 10 hour gameplay as his killer is good, it felt forceful and disgusting. Is like if nothing ever happened. Literally abby never felt remorseful, she is a psychopath and a killer and no matter how many kids she saved, the player always has in mind what introduced the character. When I knew.a 10 hour abby was going to happen, I immediately didn't want to play anymore,. Now, the ending didn't resolve anything, allie completely destroys her life for nothing and Abby didn't get to pay. I don't think if joel was in her place he would have let abby live.. Also, the relationship between Ellie and Dina was cute, but it was forced. I think in a game you should explore deeper connections,. Weed and sex are definitely not deep at all.. I expected so much more.… Expand

Но как оказалось Джоила тупо слили в первые часы ( его насмерть забила клюшкой для гольфа стероидная баба, а ее друг плюнул на труп) ужасная, грубая смерть. Он не заслуживал такой смерти. Дракман со своей гребаной феминисткой саркисян просто плюнули в душу фанатам игры. Рассказывать можно бесконечно, но суть в том, что вы убили не только вторую часть, но и первую. ПОЗОР! П. С.     visually it was great, but story was horrible. it seemed like it Joel and Ellie were not the same caricatures from the first game... maybe that's what they were trying to do, but it didn't relate well and i almost didn't like them. i played TLOU multiple times, but im fine with only playing this game once. try again next time...

My problem with this game stems from just how all over the place these characters are: Ellie goes from a hopeful soul who wants to help the world in the first game, to a homicidal maniac in the beginning of this one, to forgiving Abby later on?! And Joel, who would trust nobody in the first game and do whatever it took for safety, saves Abby for no reason and then tells her and her whole group of strangers his name? Speaking of Abby, they try and push this needs of the many outweigh the few mentality on her, but she abandoned her friends and morals to for lev? Excuse me? It’s like they didn’t even care about writing a good game here, they just wanted to, as I said, push a narrative with a pretty coat of paint. And if you want to push for representation PLEASE DO, I really love the LGBTQ+ characters, the POC, and everything, but these games are ruining characters for the sake of representation. There’s so many more valid points to be made about why this game was a shame, but they’ve already been made and I just don’t wanna think about this game anymore. I just really hope games start to realize that we don’t hate LGBTQ+ or POC characters, we just hate when characters are poorly written and poorly designed, and when their motivations and character traits are thrown about nonsensically. These negative reviews are all valid, and people trying to push this idea that we’re review bombing because we don’t like that they “killed off the white man” or because “the main character is gay”, please just stop. You’re the problem, and people like you are exactly why really good, really beloved LGBTQ+ characters especially won’t be widespread, because for a lot of you just having a woman or a gay character is enough. This game could’ve made Ellie just as beloved as Joel, but in case you haven’t noticed, it didn’t. I just really hope this isn’t the way the industry is going, and if you’re gonna keep making games like this, please don’t make them sequels to the games we actually do love.

    1/10 for the amazing graphics, gameplay, and sound design (although the AI could use some work). They did great work on the gameplay, but as this is a story game, I’m rating the story.    … Expand

    What bothered me the most was that there is no way this was badly written due to lack of ideas or bad storytelling. This was intentionally written this way with a lot of effort and hard work. Writers made sure that they would destroy everything the 2013 masterpiece achieved.

The characters are shallow and unplayable at times. The story is a train wreck from start to finish with only a few redeeming factors, and the new characters introduced are forced onto the player so heavily, it’s annoying. The first games story was so deep, characters were lovable, combat and fights felt smooth (at the time) the world was built so beautifully it felt you were there. Now what did TLOU2 do...well little to nothing. The story to start is a mess, so many plot holes you can’t figure out what is what at times. Characters who’s motivations and goals are confusing and at times can make no sense. The world is way more linear than the first which is bad, because the story than forces itself onto you without you being able to breath. On the other hand the graphics are a clear upgrade, as they should be for it being over 7 years since the release of TLOU1, the combat feels smooth and fights are intense, like the first game encounters with infected are thrilling and get your heart racing. The fighting is a good way to take your mind of the disaster that is the main story.

    Moving on to the ending, Ellie is finishing her long and seemingly pointless journey, to confront someone who caused her immense pain. Throughout the story you feel hate, anger, sadness, throughout the deaths of Joel, Jesse, and the harm to Tommy and Dina, and Ellie, you think at the end you will get to release these emotions...but then the writers take a questionable route, and let the antagonist (Abby) leave with her life. Ellie then goes home to Dina but is found that they left with there son JJ. The credits roll and you begin to question everything. During the credits the only thing you can think was “what was the point.” What was the point of this story being told? Was it to make the player angry? Was it to make the player uncomfortable? I don’t know, and not many others do either. Overall the graphics are a beauty to behold, combat is tight and fluid, landscape is beautiful, but the sheer amount of flaws in the story and character motivations makes this game feel unplayable at times. If you enjoyed TLOU1 for its story this game is not for you. Graphics-9/10

    Now the main problem, the plot, the plot is really poorly written, old characters act out of character, new characters make nonsensical decisions, a bunch of plot holes, and little respect to the previous game, all that made the first game's plot good was sacrificed for shock value and cheap tricks to make you feel, you will likely feel terrible playing this game, and it just gets worse and worse has you go trough, and you dont even feel rewarded at the end for all the pain this game puts you trough, if anything you feel like you wasted your time, like the entire game was just a waste of time that was utterly pointless, yeah the ending was also bad

    In conclusion, the plot is terrible, and since this is a story driven game, then all i can say is that this was not a good game, its sad to see such graphics wasted on this    … Expand

    Yo la verdad pienso que la historia se queda muy corta, los personajes no son acordes al contexto de los mismos hechos lo cual los hace super forzados y como el desarrollo de la trama es tan Predecible se hace muy aburrido y eso sin mencionar el final que es demaciado ordinario y cliché.. Cada quien desperdicia su dinero como quiere.
    Yo lo vendí tras acabarlo para recuperar dinero.

Ignore the 10/10 if your an actual fan of the original game. those are either paid media or players who have a lack of taste in good games. i gave this game a 4/10 because the gameplay is the 4. the story is inconsistent and lacks ALOT of emotion concerning characters. The old characters besides ellie get little time and their general character development from the last game is thrown out the window in this game. the new characters are quickly thrown in and you won't actually give a crap about them and if you do then you'll be disappointed when they are killed off in the most unemotional way. infact the characters in the game seem to act like the deaths are nothing besides ellie. but even when joel dies the game just brushes past it very quickly. none of the deaths are justified nor do they have an impact like the first game. i nearly cried when joel's daughter died, but in this one when joel dies, i just hate the abby the **** on steroids. the gameplay is violent and amazing but it seems to drag on in different levels. sometimes the levels feel empty because nothing is going on in the story progression. anyone saying people are mad just because joel dies is a freaking moron. It is one thing if you want to kill a beloved character, it's another when you do it in the most meaningless way. they used his death for "story drive" but there is no other reason and it's not a justified death. if they wanted to kill joel off fine, but make me actually feel something besides immediate hate for a new character and makes me completely disinterested in the games story. it almost felt at times that i was playing 2 different games with 2 different stories. obviously they wanted you to play abby and get to know her but at the beginning you don't give a crap about her and when the game ends, you still won't. graphics are amazing. so maybe 1 point extra should go to the game so maybe a 5/10 is the real score. but my bias toward the destruction of a favorite storyline of mine brings it to a 4/10. you'll love the level design and you'll enjoy the scenery. but the disgusting story flow and design will make you cringe most of the time and hate it the rest. anyone who blindly gives it a 10/10 or 9/10 should be ignored and only hinder good game creation. i don't know about you but i'd rather play a shorter yet better story designed game then settle for a long string of dog crap. but hey those 10/10 and 9/10's love their dog crap, so let them lather in it. won't bother with last of us 3 because they killed off all the old characters mostly and changed who they are and they killed of 95% of the new ones so you don't actually give a crap about the next games because it's just gonna loop back around to the fireflies and i bet ellie dies in that one because "plot development". save yourself 60 bucks and go buy ff7, it's a good game and storyline and won't make you feel like you're watching a tv show from the CW or crappy drama show. or play god of war if you haven't that exclusive is worth every penny and actually knows how to bring real emotion in a game. naughty dog used to know what that was but now they lost their way.… Expand

    Please read some reviews like Kotaku's where they have the guts to tell you the truth and not Naughty Dog lies. You only play as Ellie for half the game and the other 12 hours as the villian. So stupid to do with a beloved character like Ellie. This trick might work with a new IP but not for a sequel of a beloved game. I also just replayed the first game and left behind dlc right before this. I loved the first 12 hours with Ellie getting revenge but losing a bit of herself with each kill. Watching her get consumed by revenge and hoping for her to change and accept it. To walk away and live her life.

    Then the game does a 180 and makes you play as the villian right after she murders one of you friends. I could not continue and only made it ten minutes making her die over and over again. I looked to see how long her segment was going to be. Thinking that I would be okay with a level or 2 but it's literally the second half the game, another 12 hours! Will not finish this game. I don't want to play as this character I want to kill and be forced to actively hunt down the Ellie.

    Yeah I know they want to make a statement about how no one is truely evil and the backgrounds sort of mirror each other but not at the expense of a character I have spent over 60 hours protecting and another 20 hours playing as. Pero después de tanta especulación, el juego ya ha llegado oficialmente y ya tenemos un puntaje 95 en Metacritic y un 10 de 10.la prensa lo adora, pero lo que la crítica te dice es que es un juego hecho con mucha pasión, un juego con un arte muy bien logrado, una gran calidad de audio, gran gameplay y un juego que te transmite un gran mensaje que en cierta parte no está mal. Lo que la prensa no te dice es que la historia es una completa mierda. Se os olvida mencionar pequeños detalles, como por ejemplo el hecho de que Joel uno de los personajes más humanos y más carismáticos vistos en la última década, se ve reducido a un inútil que muere a manos de Tiger Woods. Que la historia nos presenta varias ideologías metidas forzosamente y a lo idiotas sólo por el hecho de querer ser inclusivos. Que el mismo juego te obliga empatizar con un antagonista que es francamente insoportable y sobretodo el hecho de que desde que comienzas la historia hasta que terminas te das cuenta de que no debieron haber hecho una segunda parte. Cada vez es más difícil confiar en la prensa dedicada a los videojuegos porque te das cuenta de que el dinero manda. En ninguna critica hacia el hecha por algún medio medianamente grande o conocido. Se atrevieron a decir la verdad del juego. Claro que no lo iban a hacer, ya sea porque hay un poco de motivación por medio o simplemente porque saben que no sería bueno que hablar mal de uno de los juegos más grandes de la generación, pero sólo basta con jugarlo para que tú mismo te des cuenta. El juego es estéticamente bello? Sí, y tiene un gran gameplay, sí, pero todos debemos estar de acuerdo que a pesar de que la primera parte de the last of us tenía un gran gameplay y todo lo que lo hizo destacar como obra y ponerlo en un pedestal como uno de los mejores juegos de su maravillosa historia y la manera de contarla. After playing the original Last of Us probably around 10 times through because it’s one of my favorite games of all time I was extremely excited to play part 2. I stayed away from all the leaks and went into the game with very high expectations. I even preordered the special edition and the ps4 pro console edition. After finishing the game I was extremely disappointed. Naughty Dog and Sony deceived me from the trailers. Scenes they provided with every trailer I saw made me believe he was a vital part of the game. However what they did was model swap him and change his appearance from flashbacks. They then decide to kill Joel off and make you play as his killer for half of the game. Playing as Abbey was brutal to play through. There was not a single second playing through her story that I enjoyed. And not one time did I emphasized with her character. Sony and Naughty Dog deliberately kept her out of the trailers and reviews because they knew if the fans found out about playing half of the game as her they would not have bought the game. I am extremely disappointed. I don’t believe I will ever be able to play the game through again. Playing as Abbey was punch in the face to fans.

    Retunred to store for refund after 3 hours play, massive fan of TLOU1 and its character arc and lovely charm between Joel and Ellie.

    I almost vomited at the current story line and character arc, looks good but utterly ridiculous shoehorning in identity politics (WHICH WOULD HAVE NO PLACE IN an APOCALYPSE SCENARIO)

    The game is almost a complete waste of money the good bits graphics and music (by now most games should be topping 8 or 9 for music scores). The bad bits game-play hasn’t moved on in 7 years, the amount of time where you don’t really do much and the story which is more like fan fiction. Thank god I borrowed it rather then paid for it.

I would have saved eighty bucks and a load of disappointment. Unlike the first game, this one made very little sense. I have no complaints about the gameplay; it built on the first one very well. I loved the parts with Ellie, Joel, Dina, Jesse.... but aside from that? Everything was a dumpster fire. Let's starts with the big one: Joel's death. I was not surprised by his death or upset about the gore, even though I questioned the logic of having Joel, a man who can sense an ambush from a mile away, mindlessly falling into Abby's simple minded trap. But I can live with that; no, what I don't understand is the structure of this. They try to make us hate Abby by having her brutally kill Joel, they have Ellie slaughter hundreds of people to get our revenge, and then....not take her revenge because of a brief memory of Joel? If they wanted us to want to forgo revenge, they had to do better than that.

    And then after making us hate Abby, they try to make us sympathetic by forcing us to play as her and making hamfisted attempts to get us to sympathize with her. Sorry, Abby, I don't care that your dad is dead, because the game didn't me care about him! I don't care that you lost him because I don't care about you. If they wanted this narrative to be successful, the structure should have been overhauled-- things should have started from Abby's perspective so we grew to love and sympathize with her loss and plight. We should have had with her at the beginning, a taste of what we had in the first tlou with Ellie and Joel. But she has no development, and we're expected to feel terrible for her. Sorry, I don't. There's no bond between Abby and the player, and over the course of her narrative, all you can think of is how **** forced everything feels, and how desperate naughty dog is to get you to like her, like an ugly guy at prom. They give her cooler weapons , they make her nice to dogs, they make you watch a yak-inducing sex scene, they make her basically be Joel with less self awareness and endless amounts of unacknowledged hypocrisy. They make Ellie out of character so that you sympathize with her less--insulting Dina and calling her a burden--kicking a dog's corpse and saying 'stupid dogs'. The first reaction I can understand because of stress, but the second? What the **** were you thinking, ND? She straight up wouldn't do that, and your attempts to villainous her are idiotic.

    This game gets a 1 instead of a zero because I loved the gameplay....but I'm so unbelievably disappointed i waited seven years for this nonsensical narrative.    … Expand

Melee combat is SO broken you can't dodge attacks and when you attack they block 90% of the time. And you don't put your arm around character's anymore when you're both using the same cover, in fact it pushes you away from cover and often gets you spotted. They rush everything in this game (even though it's long. I beat it in about 28-30 hours and it was a chore)and it doesn't carry any emotion like in the first one, they just go for shock value at the cost of character development. And don't even get me started on how broken the fight against Ellie in the theater is. It feels like they went " the first game was a masterpiece, how can we take that world and its character's and ruin it in every way just to piss off everyone who loves it". I avoided the trailers and reviews and everything else about this game so I could experience it for myself in all its glory, except it has none. I wanted to save my judgement after I finished the whole game and man it was a disappointment. I gave it like 4/10 because of all the handwork people have put in graphic or game play wise. But man I didn't come to Last of Us for that I came for the story, build on from the part 1. I don't know if the devs or director are trying to be different just cause they wanna be different but man there are so many points in the game so unnecessary doesn't build anything from the part 1. Imagine playing a person who just killed a character what you came to play, yeah they wanted to be different took a risk etc, why tho. They are showing "She got a reason too" and I have to fight Ellie , cause some **** character from the first part had some revenge. Man whoever leaked the plot good cause spending 60 dollars during this pandemic on this **** writing is not worth it. Main thing "Cycle of revenge isn't it a horrible thing" man wtf no **** but its a game goddamn it. We didn't see more of Issac or the scar group. We didn't go more into furthering into the lore of the apocalypse . The ending was so **** cant even build empathy such a bad story telling, I dont know how many times I have said it so awful. There were so many better aways to go about this story, waited 5 years for this !!!!!… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The end of this game goes on way to long, should've ended with Dina and Ellie at the farm, But NO!. Because that'll make the ending OK (ish), I feel this game should've been labelled Part 3, Then I'd have more truck with the Abby and Ellie feud ending as it stands, with part 2 being the story of Ellie coming to terms with how Joel lied to her about the Hospital, Having said that. Since I now know Joel's dead, What would the point of that game be now

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
