This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is Horrible! It’s does not deserve your money or time. The creators purposely chose to deceive, and lie to its audience who loved the original characters. I truly wanted to play as Joel, and be a companion with Ellie. Moreover, Niel Druckmann purposefully chose to destroy the original characters, and manipulate the emotions of people to purchase a game, die hard fans, would otherwise have let go if only told the truth. It’s truly a lack of leadership, talent, and vision which leads to a game as this to be made. Consequently, because of the display of poor lack of character by Druckmann; I’m actually now convinced Amy being forced out of Naughty Dog by Neil’s wishes wasn’t ever a lie, only a slight of hand to get his name out on top; the same way he chose to raise Abby an unwanted absurd character to hero status who deserved no recognition from a audience who never expected her. You’re sick Druckmann!! You must truly believe the mind of gamers are easily manipulated. This game feels like it’s made to insult : family, hope, common sense, God, and relationship while protecting evil. I have no idea where you guys cried after playing it , but I’m pretty sure you lied about your tears as well. Reader..... This game was made to hurt you if you are a lover of the first game. It does not belong as a story. Please!! Bring Amy back, or get her recommendation because Druckmann vision and writing choices are obtuse. Naughty Dog, pay attention to this outcry, you dropped the ball hard, and it because you gave the position to a bench player when it needed a high class starter. I beg the gaming community to boycott any current or future directed or written Niel Druckmann video games , he deserves to be left with nothing the same way he chose to leave Ellie, and or Hopes.

    Sincerely, Fire Niel Druckmann

Neil Druckmann fails to eliminate his prejudices and beliefs from a project that has nothing to do with them. If the negative reviews from the users are once again silenced, this will repeat over and over again. There needs to be a risk in creating a sequel to a successful game, and this is the only way us users can ensure that. No matter how you look at it, The Last of Us name was used for a different purpose, perhaps to further a movement or to ensure progressiveness in video game titles, but no matter what, that approach to the sequel took away from the passion of the directors for the video game itself, and more for its possible effect on society. Perhaps if they truly wanted to help as many people as possible, they would have delivered a high quality game in a time of need for everyone. This game is not only a disappointment, but an injustice that should somehow be corrected. To anyone that is reading this and thinks that the game does not deserve such a bad review score (and it really doesn't - it's a pretty good game) all I have to say is that this is just the only punishment that we the users can dish out. If we were to stay silenced, this would always repeat. And perhaps the amazing team that worked on this game's visuals, animations, soundtrack, and programming might be better off in another company, as their skill has truly not went unnoticed. If we somehow impact Naughty Dog studios with this bombing, those talented people will go to teams where their talent will enhance the strong base provided by a well-written story and message, instead of being the only good thing about an otherwise sub-par game.

The Last of Us has long been a revered title, but the storytelling always did the heavy lifting. Providing interesting context to simplistic environmental puzzles and fairly standard third person action through an interesting dual character development arc and stunning graphics for the time was enough to embed it in the zeitgeist amongst other classic Playstation titles of its era. TheThe Last of Us has long been a revered title, but the storytelling always did the heavy lifting. Providing interesting context to simplistic environmental puzzles and fairly standard third person action through an interesting dual character development arc and stunning graphics for the time was enough to embed it in the zeitgeist amongst other classic Playstation titles of its era. The Last of Us 2 is The Last of Us, again, but this time without the environmental puzzles or competent storytelling. Smoother animations, slick cutscenes for embarrassingly uninteresting weapon upgrades, and a shiny new pass at Joel's facial hair can't hide the lack of innovation in mechanics, ever-present movement jank, and repetitive gameplay objectives. I am sick of conveniently somewhat-jammed doors blocking arena exits, reading nigh-dictative letters that no one would ever write, and listening to characters mindlessly chatter away while they investigate dangerous territory in a zombie apocalypse. I'm sick of enemies with infinite ammo weapons that magically either disappear when they're killed or suddenly only have two bullets left in them if they don't. I'm sick of flashbacks within flashbacks, and hearing the NPCs cry out when the fourth guy named 'Angel' is killed. The Last of Us 2's particular brand of faux-realism smacks of weak design requiring further iteration, which is a devastating notion given this game's long development cycle and near-identical nature to its predecessor. At its core, there is only highly-standard third-person shooting and two-button melee combat, with the addition of some mild stealth elements. It was done better before the first game's release, and it's been done better since, but the development team thought there was no need to improve upon any of these elements.

Thus far I've avoided directly talking about the story. I'll continue to do so, but I will address it in vagueries, because it's an important part of why this game doesn't work. After an inciting incident, and the conclusion to a shorter story arc, there is a twist that involves a perspective shift. This perspective shift is meant to humanize the antagonist in the game, and ultimately show that revenge is an endless cycle of unsatisfying victimization and pain. This shift occurs at the absolute peak of the audience's hatred for the antagonist character, at the moment when the revenge is about to be carried out. The story resets, and you are expected to grow to empathize with the antagonist, who carries out the initial incident over a misinterpretation of events of Seinfeldian proportions. You play again back until the climactic point in the story, which turns out to not be the true climax, and then you play again to another unsatisfying climax. This ass-backwards attempt at subversive storytelling results in a situation where I can imagine many people playing this game hoping for the death of their own player character. And yet, with each death comes a loading screen, as the story demands you take this character that you hate to the story's conclusion. Imagine the famous Call of Duty mission "No Russian", but for eight hours and you aren't a spy that gets betrayed. Hamfisted attempts at characterization and heartstring-pulling ensue, as they are necessary to try to win you over. Whether or not these work on you depend on how hypocritical you're willing to be about killing some people and saving others, because apparently killing for revenge is somehow worse than normal killing.

It's the same game again with prettier graphics, less to do, and less to care about. The twist this time is that there is no redeeming value, interesting character development, or satisfying conclusion to the story. This game will be a flashpoint of controversy for years to come, despite its critical praise and financial success, due to the politics surrounding the story, its creator's now infamous persona, and the breathtaking division that has been sown in the series' fanbase.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I waited for this game for many, many years and was so excited as soon as I got it, I avoided any possible spoilers and came clean to the game knowing that the first game was perfect and even played it twice and enjoyed every moment. Eli and Joel were simply amazing and couldn't help but connectto them. Then, came the second game.In one word - disappointment! the beginning is just annoying, this moment that killed Joel with such indifference, I knew he would die at some point but not like that, no way he would have helped Abby. He is suspicious and relentless and would just leave her alone to handle her self and never enter to a trap. And then comes the moment when I'm just full of hatred for abby and just want to kill her and get revenge on Joel's damn death. and then, shamefully i'm going to play abby?! Why the hell?! The whole game I was waiting to be back to olay as elli and it didn't happen and for a long time we were as this damn abby that sometimes I put her to death even though I played her and didn't feel pity, and then when the meeting finally happens, again, I have to fight elli?! wtf ?! Just **** And at the end we still let abby go and let her go ?! And beyond the main characters, the whole story about the bad guys is just unfounded, briefly reminiscent of the wonderful Spider-Man 2 in his failure that was to manny bad guys and their stories unfounded. who are these WLF and why were they created? Who are these scars and why were they created? and who is this group from Santa Barbara and where did they come from and what is their story ?! Oh And there are also zombies .... just a messy game and a miserable story and it would have been better not to go out with this game, not to ruin the first one ... the ending of the first one was perfect! And the story, too, had a simple basis, and in the second game there was just one big mess. And let's talk about the trailer, in the trailer we see Eli playing in a guitar in a house full of dead people and Joel suddenly comes in slowly and tells elli "whats'up kiddo?" And than she tells him she's going to kill each one, mmmmmm where's that scene?!?! Did ND Lied to us? Leave details ?! disgrace!!!!!! One good word - the illustration, the graphics and everything is simply stunning, it was a blast. In conclusion- Don't buy the game, save your money! Expand

Gameplay, graphics and the voice actors really did a good job in making this game, so kudos to them, the writing however, SUCKS as the second game completely ruins the characters in the first game and we were forced to play as the killer who kills Joel for the HALF OF THE GAME, and then Ellie SPARES HER IN THE END when she already sacrificed so much just to get to her.

This game is not The Last of Us 2, it doesn't have the right to be called The last of us, for me it's just a fanfiction badly written by the bad directors to push their political views through games.

The dynamic father-daughter relationship that all of us fans grew to love can still only be experienced in the first installment. If you're looking for that same high, or if Joel was the character you identified with, this is not the game for you. The game was deceptively marketed (knowingly according to Druckmann). Subversion for the sake of subversion isnt good storytelling. The designers clearly wanted to make a statement to fetch a reaction out of the audience rather than to satisfy customers.

As someone who managed to avoid all the leaks online and go into this not as a huge fan of the previous game but still excited to see where the story would pick up and the direction it would go even I was disappointed and can only feel sorry for the long time hardcore fans of the game who were waiting years for this.

I don’t want this be entirely negative, The art teams have done an amazing job from the way the world looks and feels, the music and even the gameplay feels improved upon which I was very happy to see I was honestly expecting the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality but they actually tweaked it and added new features to gameplay which really improved upon the first game. These are honesty the only reason why I can give this game any score at all and while the job they did was phenomenal the main part of a game and the main reason for the low score is the poor story line.

I have no problems with them killing off Joel in fact I was even caught off guard and excited to see how Ellie and the other characters like Tommy would react and with their emotions, I was even hoping to see more development into Ellie the DLC and even the first trailer for the game showed more emphasis on her sexuality and in a infected destroyed world I would have loved to see more of the struggle she faces and deals with them growing as I played more. But that didn’t seem to really happen the character growth of this game was a major let down especially compared to the first one where we get to see from the very beginning of joe and Ellie to where they end up. Abby felt so forced and boring that at parts of the game I was so bored of the story I was just rushing through to finish as quick as possible. The last few cutscenes I ended up treating like Netflix by replying to texts on my phone instead of being fully immersed in the game and invested as I was TLOU. I’m not saying don’t buy the game or play it, but honestly watch some gameplay or a review from someone you may often find yourself agreeing with first and see their opinions you may enjoy this game and if you do I’m honestly jealous but don’t just buy this game expecting it to live up to be an amazing sequel because chances are it won’t

Do not buy this and save your money. The truth and context of this game is much worse than the leaks. Before I get into one of the worst stories ever. The gameplay is very average in today's modern gaming generation. There are minor improvements from the first game and enemy AI is dumb as ever. There are more cut scenes and walking than actual gameplay.they destroyed all of your favorite characters. They dumb down Joel's character on purpose to make him weak and stupid. In the first game he was very smart and had a ton of experience. He didn't even trust a guy that was sick on the road. He chose to run him over. Later we find out that stranger on the road was not sick and it was all a set up. They do everything to make you dislike Joel and continue to spit on him. They have a trans female/male shoot him in the leg and torture him with a golf club right in the first 2 hours of the game. They spit on him literally. They made Ellie unlikable and a selfish human being. She kills everyone and continued to blame Joel for saving her life. She cared so much in saving humanity because she has the immunity but instead she became a lesbian and chose not to reproduce. Let that sink in. She even let's Abby the one that tortured and murdered Joel in front of her get away with it. Abby also bit off two of Ellie's fingers. Her letting Abby go is basically saying Joel deserved dying. A loveable character who is the main character of the game. There was no justice for Joel. This game robbed everything from you just for shock value. The current narrative of destroying the male character to make the female character rise is very weak story telling. It is disrespectful to both genders. Females even hate it. Worst of all the pacing of the story is horrible. You literally play as Abby the character we hate for half the game. They tried so hard to make us like her but none of it worked. This game is a waste of time and money and should have never been created as a sequel. The critics are liars and they don't care about what the fans want. They only care about their political narrative and force you to like something that you will never accept. Then they insult you by calling you names because you don't like the product they are praising. They are the worst kind of human being. Trust the gamers that actually love playing the kind of video games you like. Those are the ones who you should listen to. Vote with your wallet and avoid this dumpster fire. Why care for a game created by a studio that is run by Neil Druckmann who is a male feminist and does not care about the fans and the people he works with. That's why 75 percent of Naughty dog left the company due to how he treated them. This game is created by people that don't care about you and backed by people that hate you. The game wasn't made for the fans and gamers. Vote with your wallets and avoid this at all cost. Especially how they are trying to trick everyone with false advertisement into buying this. Look it up on YouTube. Don't trust the shill media. Watch the negative videos about this game and you will see the truth. Long live Joel and RIP to The Last of Us franchise. Expand

The game is a complex journey through Ellie's mind. It is innovating and beautiful if we are talking about graphics. However, the story's plot results a disaster. With unnecessary brutality and decisions that do not make sense, this videogame is no more than a graphics card with life. The only thing that barely saves it, it is Ellie's growth.

This game demonstrates what happens when a feminist and a SJW take on important positions in the entertainment zone, it doesn't even seem like the game is a continuation but rather personal opinions that have been turned into a game, the game makes you feel angry and then you feel nothing due to its history and trajectory, which has several and several holes, the mechanics and more of the same with graphic additions and graphic violence have been improved, but TLOU's strong point is its story that in my opinion died and was buried with Joel. And this is not anger, but a huge disappointment with what they did with an incredible game that had a lot of potential with this continuation, but if you want to know if you want to have a good experience, just play the first one and pretend that this continuation has no connection with the first one. game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll try to make this as balanced as possible because I didn't hate the game but I also didn't like it. The visuals were great, the gameplay was similar to the first game, and I really enjoyed the inclusivity of LGBT+ characters. But then there's the plot. It felt forced and not thought out properly. Nor did I enjoy playing as Abby. I understand that we were supposed to feel something for her despite her wrongdoings but I just couldn't connect with her AT ALL. I absolutely understand Ellie's PTSD so heavily affecting her and I think the panic attack in the barn was AMAZINGLY well done but I don't think someone's trauma like that would make them leave their support system and family back home to hunt down a woman. The plot could have been so much better if they'd taken the time to not try and be so "edgy" with every decision they made. Stop trying to "trick" the player at every chance you get. You're crying WLF. I also don't think releasing this game with such a depressing, hopeless, and lonely ending was a very good idea during this pandemic. It's not what the world needed right now and I think that's the real reason it was delayed for a hot minute.
I also want to point out how the "themes" were very... childish. As if the creators are trying to teach us and overplayed moral lesson in a very bland and in your face kind of way. If they wanted to have a moral lesson, no one is going to listen if it's shoved down their throat instead of sneakily woven into the story. I would have given it's a 5 but not killing their queer characters bumped it up to a 6. I also really REALLY hated the sex scene between Abby and Owen. It made me feel all sorts of bad and grossed out and uncomfortable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Lets start out with what this game does right: The world is beautiful and even the linear parts have several branches of paths the player can take making each person have their own experience. The killing of Joel, while brutal, really set in motion the story and while I was displeased it was not series ruining for me. The story had an amazing pace up until the end of Day 3, which is where my 10/10 review gets thrown out the window.

Now what the game gets wrong: We spent an entire game and DLC caring about the Ellie and Joel relationship only to be forced to play the person who ended it. The pacing at this point is whiplash worthy, the player went for the climax back to day 1 and forced to play as Abby. The entire "SJW" backlash on this part is just dumb, Lev being transgender probably has a total of 2 minutes of a 30hour game. Playing as Abby was not a rewarding experience, playing as Ellie I was collecting every collectible I could, but as Abby I found myself forcing my way through levels as fast as I could simply because she was not a relatable character. They tried to give her a redemption ark, and all along the way you hear about how much of a psychopathic murder machine she is, and the island sequence prove this even more. Abby is extremely selfish, I get that they were trying to make a foil to Joel, but the character was just not relatable at all. Now, the ending was one of the worst in history; there was no real resolution making the entire game pointless.

First half of the game 10/10
    Second half .1/10
    overall: 4/10

Look, I'm not a little fangirl gamer...graphics are great and all (and they are truly awesome in this game), but the story is where it's at. If you want a good looking game where the story doesn't matter, go pick up a dime-a-dozen shooter and play that. I expected a beautifully written game that was compelling and kept it's hooks in you the entire time (just like TLOU) and sadly, I feel that we received a pile of contrived B movie garbage instead. I'm not sure if the writers were too busy playing on their phones, sleeping or what, but the 'run of the mill' revenge story that has been played out for years, the plot holes that are large enough to park my can in and the meh/uninteresting characters are just too much for one game. I'm sorry, but in my opinion, the magic that existed in TLOU is gone and it'll probably never come back.

In a post apocalyptic world, you shouldn't expect us to hate who we've learned to care and love for doing whatever they can to take care of themselves. Neither should you have us sympathize with a serial killer who has no regrets and wouldn't mind killing pregnant people. Neil says it's "worth it" to play it for yourself, I suggest watching playthroughs of the game and then deciding on your own if it's worth your purchase. Apart from this, the company's horrible crunch time, and the creative director making fun of people who come forth about why they dislike this game, Naughtydog isn't the same company we all praised about anymore, and I don't plan on buying anymore titles from them in the future.

    Graphics
    Gameplay
    Artwork

    Cons:
    Story (or lack of it)!!!
    Far too politically motivated!!!
    Obscene number of plot holes!!!

Firstly I'd like to say I don't buy/play games to be given a political lecture, I play them to be entertained. I was not entertained but was lectured a lot! Unacceptable, leave politics out of games! And I say that as an ethnic minority as well!! Now the storyline was very rushed in parts and made no sense in other parts. In the first game Joel was very suspicious of strangers and wouldn't be so easy to trust them with anything, yet he's completely ok with Abby and her group who have randomly shown up. Completely goes against his character and is a very lazy way of killing him. I don't mind Naughty Dog killing off Joel as Abby has a very valid reason for wanting her revenge, but don't do it to the detriment of his character and what he believes and stands for. Now as for Abby, I understand her reasons for revenge but Naughty Dog did not do her story justice at all. If you want me to empathise with her, then you need more than a 30 minute flashback and need to spend more time developing her relationship with her father. This could have been done and the entire Trans-Lev story could have been dropped completely. Abby's relationship with her father served a purpose to the story. Lev being a Trans did not!!!!! Secondly Abby is unrealistically muscular!! Most women body builders have that kind of build with an immaculate diet and training in the real world. I refuse to believe anyone in TLOU universe can have a diet to support a body such as that. Now while we are on the subject of unrealism, can someone explain to me why they are growing weed in the middle of an apocalypse? I mean resources are so scarce that I highly doubt that weed can be on the list of priorities. And even if they can grow it, who gets high when they know that they could get stormed by a plague of infected or rival clans? Utter stupidity!!! Now the whole story was set up to be a revenge plot. Ellie fails in her first instance in Seattle and is spared by Abby for a SECOND time!! Is Abby actually stupid?! Ellie clearly despises her and wants her dead, and instead decides to spare her again and risk her coming for her again (which she does)!! And how does Tommy survive a blatant headshot from point blank range? Now Ellie suffers from PTSD from the whole incident and goes for revenge a second time in California. She eventually goes through hell to find Abby again and has a fight with her. Then miraculously at the last instance she lets her live!!!! So she went across the country in the middle of an apocalypse TWICE, lost 2 fingers, many friends, a relationship with her girlfriend and stepson, just to let the person responsible for her suffering go free? I mean seriously?? It's 2020, how have Naughty Dog not even given us the option of 2 alternative endings where you can kill her or decide not to kill her!! Completely stupid!!! I am so insulted that this game was produced that I will not buy another Naughty Dog game or Sony game/console until serious changes are made. Stop shoving politics down our throats at every given moment, we want entertainment not political agendas!!! You're probably thinking if the gameplay was good along with graphics etc. Why have I scored the game a 0/10. It's simple, don't be political in games!!! Any game that's political is an instant 0/10 in my opinion because it's not what I pay you to produce!!! Quite the opposite really, I pay you to help me forget about the politics of the world!!

As a non binary individual I find this pandering insulting and I am outraged that two of my favourite characters of all time have been portrayed so completely out of character. This is an absolute joke. I am disgusted with this franchise after loving the first game and its dlc why virtue signal so unnecessarily. Disgusted. Expand

The story was horrible and the trailers were lies. The best part of TLOU is the story, and that is where it fails the most. Tries to be all deep "Revenge gets you nowhere" but Abby got exactly that with no consequences. Joel was totally disrespected.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay was fun, graphics were just amazing one of the driving reason to push me through the game. I was enjoying it until about the halfway point I see why did Joel in and what they were going for there but they lost me when they forced me to play as that hideous character Abby. Every second I spent playing as her I wanted her to just die, spent a lot of time just jumping her off cliffs. If they would've just pushed the Ellie revenge plot straight through they would've at least made a safe bet there that people would've been happy. Instead they try to make this curve ball bull crap that just leaves a sour taste in your mouth when you finish, and I even had a feeling that was gonna happen too. Extremely disappointed I don't know what naughty dog was thinking with the story... I'll definitely never fire this game up again I don't even want the plat they can keep it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story starts off decently, then makes what can only be summed up as a terrible decision an hour in. Moving past this they did well with what they scraped together and I'd say it plays as at least 8/10.

Then come even more terrible development decisions focing you to play as the worst protagonist a game has had for the last decade, not just in terms of character development but in how the character is shoehorned in. I pushed past this thinking that it would all lead to a satisfying conclusion, I was wrong.

The ending has characters making ridiculous decisions that don't stay true to who they are and it leaves you unsatisfied and in limbo, wondering where the value comes in, you'll never want to play through this again.

The game ultimately tries to play off of 'shock and awe' moments instead of trying to build a decent story. If you want to kill or save certain characters that's fine, just do it in a way that respects those characters and understand that this isn't the final season of game of thrones.

I can only imagine the critic reviews were bought either directly or through the tactic of pressuring for high scores under penalty of cutting a publication off from future events and early review copies, a commonly used tactic. Failing that I can't imagine any of these reviewers actually played more than 10 hours and should be ashamed of dishing out perfect scores to something that has disgraced it's predecessor.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. simply this game is an insult to all of us who have been waiting for this game for 7 years, the story has many holes in the plot, the graphics are moderately good, its gampley did not improve much, what made the last us special was its histor. Neil Druckmanm's simp, kills one of the most beloved characters in the most pathetic and idiotic way, cares more about the progrecist ideology than the plot, makes us play for more than 30 hours so that in the end we do not get anything. If you want a true revenge story and not like the **** from the last us 2 play better God of War 3 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m honestly at a loss on how this game could stray so far away from its roots. Personally I’m tired of beautiful games that are just shallow in lore, stories, and interesting characters. While ND has continued to show their ability for map design and lighting, the gameplay seems to be almost untouched on improvements since 2013. Gunplay seems clunky and AI running straight at you with zero evasive ability while you clearly have a gun drawn on them feels brain dead. Not to mention the amount of bugs I experienced was something I expect from EA. THE STORY.... where to even start? The disrespect for Joel, the unloveable Abby, countless NPCs I’m supposed to care about but don’t... half the game spent trying to manipulate my first impression. Going on a murderous rampage for revenge, only for absolutely no pay off. I felt like the one being spit on.

It felt like there could had been a completely different arrangement of events to kill Joel off (If you absolutely felt the need too) and introduce Abby. A better back story and flash backs of the fireflies vs the Gov, memorable events from the last game sprinkled in as the trickling effects of Abby story is shaped by Joel. It all felt hollow and rushed like the narrative was so forced, the writers couldn’t even stomach enough to put typical ND effort in. I’ve already sold my copy to someone else as there’s zero Replay-ability due to the lack of MP and the fact I wish I could just get my time back from this game. I really tried to give it the game a chance even though I deleted/redownloaded twice out of pure distaste. I’ve played a lot of bad games over the years, most of which were bad due to being unfinished or due to indie Devs, but this, this was the opposite of everything I wanted to happen EVERY SINGLE TIME.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to preface this by saying that I absolutely loved the first game and its characters.

Let's talk positives first. The technical aspect is suberb. TLOUII is visually breathtaking, the animations, the sound, the graphics are impressive considering the almost decade old hardware it's running on, huge props to the visual and environment artists. Like holy **** the quality of the facial expressions is incredible.

The gameplay is alright, it's slightly improved here and there, you can go prone and takeout enemies by jumping on them, however it can go repetitive after a while since melee combat essentially is press square to hit and L1 to dodge, and there's not a lot of ammo around.

The story is where this game completely ****s the bed. It manages to destroy everything you loved about the first game. It is full of disappointment, misery, plot holes and characters doing stupid things and complete 180's in the span of hours. Playing as this comically buff villain that brutally tortures and beats Joel to death just so the story can progress feels so cheap and disrespectful. From that point on Abby becomes irredeemable no matter how much dogs or saving animals the story shoves down your throat during her flashbacks. You're supposed to feel bad for her because her father died, even thought he wanted to perform nonconsensual lethal surgery on a child for a make-believe "cure" that had no guarantee of working. Playing as her for half the game was miserable.
Ellie's flashbacks are so much more engaging and fun compared to the rest of the game it's like they were given to the new intern to write.

There are way more points to consider but I don't give enough ****s to cover everything. I don't think the game is a 0/10 because there are things to love about it, but no way in hell is this a 10/10. "You don't like the game because you're homophobic" is a **** strawman and most of the valid criticism doesn't involve that, even though for me personally it is slightly over the top.Great visuals, serviceable gameplay and horrible story. I'd give it a 5 the it wasn't for the controversy surrounding Naughty Dog abusing copyright laws to strike down youtube channels who were discussing the leaks and spoilers, not to mention the Joel false advertising, censorship double standards, Neil Druckmann lying that Ellie was the only playable character and Abby not being advertised anywhere even though she's the PC in half the game.

This game is an absolute disgrace to the original game and all of it's characters. It is full of Retconing and story plot holes. The story in this game is absolutely no were near as good as the original. The game play however is decent. The graphics really are stunning. But the terrible story really takes away from any good this game has to offer.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
