I am giving this half of a game a 5/10 due to the lack of dept in this game that you must pay over $110.00 to get the full game. You're only getting a bit of a game and EA want you to fall for the DLC that's way over priced. For myself I REDBOXED THIS GAME OR RENTED IT. THANK YOU REDBOX FOR SAVING ME $110.00. This is not starwars, is star BATTLEFIELD version DLC, as a fan of the Star Wars universe I feel cheated, a game that costs about 70 € and with a contended insulting and most importantly no story mode is for EA to rethink follow industry because players will not buy such rubbish.

The game looses a big deal on the Price - content sector. They stripped the game to basics just to sell DLCs and Expansions. Just like it happened with Destiny. This is pure BAD MARKETING if you ask me and its a SHAME for a company with a big name like EA DICE to behave like this to the customers. I hope they will listen to the community and give at least some free content.

They worked lines from the movie into other characters' dialogue to the point where it sounds like the people in the game saw Star Wars recently and are reciting lines to each other like an inside joke, while fighting Star Wars battles. "We've captured the point. ALL TOO EASY!" Han Solo recites lines we've heard in a dozen other games, but only heard once in the movies. The game wasn't written to fit in within the SW movies, it was assembled verbatim from them. Worse, it was assembled from the Star Wars movies we've seen a hundred times. Conveniently rushed to shelves in time to see a new one hit theaters in a few weeks, but we don't see any of that one here.

The problem is that if you were to strip away the Star Wars theme from these battles and reskin it with pretty much anything else, the game is not good. Sure, it feels like the originals, but they're a decade old. There's no excuse for this game to be the least bit shallow in terms of content, but there it is. You're running around looking for glowing tokens like Crash Bandicoot looking for fruit.

It comes down to people who are happy with what we were handed here, and the people who see what this could have been. It could have expanded on things like Jedi Knight or KOTOR, could have had gameplay options and freedom like the Arkham games did for Batman (tell me using the grapple hoist line Luke used to grenade the AT-AT, but free to use anywhere creatively wouldn't have been amazing) but instead we got the standard EA movie tie-in treatment.

Luckily I played it on xboxone 10 hour trial at my mates and canceled my pre-order from PS4 store when i got home.
There is no Campaign Galactic Conquest or Instant action game modes, No Space battles (the flying vehicles have the some of the worst controls I've ever experienced, they handle like shopping carts) and sky battles are badly controlled and There is a "season pass' for DLC, which costs almost as much as the base game itself. They have given us no clue as to what is contained in any of the 4 planned DLC packs, they should try to save some credibility and release the first three planned DLC releases free to all and the last one charge no more than $10

The online customization is limited compared to other online FPS, customizing your character consists of changing a hairstyle or skin color, and there is no gun customization. There are only a few maps, and they are mostly pretty dull and uninspired. I don't know why they cut the prequels out of this game, as that removes almost all of the fun lightsaber-wielding heroes (not that it matters, they did away with assault) and many of my favorite locations. Speaking of heroes, there are only 6, including Leia (over Chewbacca and Yoda) and their combat is 3 abilities that are not fun to use (I did enjoy lightsaber throw) and have long cooldowns. Battles feel small and characters die too fast. There are only a few fun game modes online, and those get boring.

They turned this game into an online FPS. However, it is greatly outclassed in fun and amount of content by most competitors. If you really want to try it out, rent it from Redbox or Gamefly first. This game was clearly rushed to be released before the movie to increase sales.

It seems to become this battle between fanboys and haters but I think underlying it there is this general feeling that gamers expectations are not being meet and we are not finding satisfaction in what we are delivered, or a significant portion of us anyway. So to make the point those who are feedup frustrated and disappointed vent with a zero review. Understandable but it becomes a bit of a mess of zeros and 10s basically offsetting for an overall of 5. In my view this game and others affected by this are not a 5.

For me this game is about an 8.5 but I do agree it could have been alot better in terms of value for money in the content we received. There should have been a campaign for one. The little training missions were really cool. Surely they could have expanded this into a fully fledged epic starwars campaign. It is also clear the game was chopped up to sell the season pass. Is this a trend that we will accept. Its clear we are unhappy about it but its probably neccessary for it to be financially viable. Im not sure its simply motivated by greed but maybe it is. Destiny showed us how successful that can be but when it comes at the cost of sacrificing the overall quality of the game developers need to be careful as theres only so much gamers will accept. Perceived value to gamers is important. We do not want to feel like we are paying fullprice for half the game.

The game itself I love to play. I like that its been simplified to appeal to starwars fans. Walker assault has been my favourite mp mode. The rush of a team win as the rebels is fantastic. Personally I like the direction they took with this game. If your a casual gamer or a star wars fan or both I unreservedly recommend this game. Do not be put off by the negativity. It is a fantastic star wars casual gaming experience. I think thats what they were going for and they certainly delivered it but its upset those that wanted it like the original battlefronts.

The thing i do agree on is it needs a campaign to give it more content. The season pass im divided on cause I think its just the reality the gaming industry faces to meet rising costs. Am I happy about it? no but I do understand why they are doing it as trying to sell the full game at game plus season price cost would be less acceptable to gamers. Personally I would prefer to be getting the full game at a higher price. I hate dlc as much as the next gamer and usually do not buy it as i know i can not resell it.

Battlefront is a near perfect game, except for 2 major flaws.

    1. There are not enough maps or offline modes. I mean, why the hell can't we do a droid capture or a cargo run with AI and a friend on the couch? They're small maps with no more than 12 players. For a $70 game, you do expect to get a little more environmental diversity... especially when there is no campaign. 2. Players die

For a $70 game, you do expect to get a little more environmental diversity... especially when there is no campaign.
    2. Players die too easily. There is much to be said for a quick-paced shooter, but Battlefront honestly pushes the limit to a point where it can be a real bummer to play sometimes. As my girlfriend says "I shoot them 4 times, then they shoot me once and I die!". Sure, foot shots aren't the most powerful, but something needs to be done to allow casual games to get more out of multiplayer.

Other than those two things, the game is beautiful, well thought-out and fun. Fun is really what it's all about and I think too many jaded reviewers didn't actually play much more than 10 hours before they said "It loses it's charm after 10 hours." I'm nearing hour 20 and I can't wait to play when I get home. The trick to making the most out of Battlefront is to accept that you will die sometimes (or most of the time).

Dice has done a great job with transferring the atmosphere and gadgets from the saga into this action packed nostalgia trip. Nothing but stunning graphics and awesome sounds makes Battlefront a game that will suck you in in no time!
The setting aside, the game plays wonderful. Controlling an infantry trooper or vehicle alike, the controls are fully responsive and feels natural at first, but in order to really shine, you must of course master everything. The game modes, although limited in numbers, will keep you playing this game for a long time. I've had a hard time trying to stop play Fighter Squadron and try out all the other modes, it really is that good. Controlling a tie fighter in the middle of a raging aerial combat really is a cool as I've always expected.
Many of the reviews state that the lack of content should be rewarded with a close to 0 score. Well, if you are a hardcore Battlefield grinder and enjoy the confusion of hundreds of guns and gadgets, I get your point. Myself, I really like what Dice did here: kept it simple and understandable. Unlocking everything will keep you busy for a long time, and most importantly, every unlock MEANS something. In Battlefield, you get tons of stuff throughout the game which actually creates an inflation.
There is off course flaws to this diamond as well, but the pros out-weight the cons in so many ways that I do not see any other way to finish this review than a big applause to Dice for delivering the game of the year.

Well EA, you've officially killed what spark I had for this new installment to the battlefront series. Now, I know the reviews for this game really are mixed, so I will give the best review I can for those looking to buy the game.

    (Positives)
-Visually, and soundwise, this game is a masterpiece. Putting on headphones and listening to the environment, the battle unfold around you is just amazing.

    -20 v 20. Finally. a real big team battle.

-Feels like you're really in the original trilogy

    (Cons)
-Four maps. They aren't incredibly big, either. Sometimes the spawns are so packed you spawn and die, like a 20 v 20 on Nuketown. It can just be chaos, and frustrating to play.

-"Buy the seasons pass to get the rest of this game" No. I was unimpressed i spent $100 to get this thing. I will not spend another $70 to get another hour or two of gameplay on each DLC,

-NO story mode. None, whatsoever. offline play consists of training (Tutorials) Survival mode (Easy as can be), and this failed multiplayer simulator. I was really hoping to hop on the couch with friends, my girlfriend, etc and be on a team of 18 other AI facing 20 AI. or even 12 v 12, if that hurts the rendering engine. But no. you get a 4v4, where you have to run and pick up the tokens once an AI dies, and you don't get to fight with your friends, just against them. Who on earth thought of that. EA, start to redeem yourself and fire those people.

-No replayability. I've tallied 3 hours, I'll probably never touch this game again. Rent it, borrow it off a friend, but heed my warning, and do not buy it.

-Online based. Like EA does, the servers will eventually go offline due to a new title being released, and it doesn't have the option to buy/manage your own server. Therefore, if you DO decide to put in hours, eventually, you won't be able to access it.

    (IN SHORT)
I gave this game a pity 2/10 just because of the graphics and sound. It's a very basic, very beta FPS, with not a lot of mechanics that hold up to any other FPS, let alone from DICE. You can definitely tell the tyrant that is EA got their claws into the crew, and cracked the whip hard on them. I am posting this to save people the money, and hopefully so EA can read this, like the thousands of others like it, and change the game, because this is exactly what is wrong with the gaming industry now.

A game that costs over $100 (season pass + basic game) with lots of content cut from the original Lucasarts series = garbage. If you enjoy really good Star Wars graphics patched into a Battlefield engine have at it but be warned it will cost you some extra cash in the long run.

Yes, there are NOT enough maps at all (pretty much only 4), but the saying the game does not have enough content is ludicrous! There are a bunch of different game modes to play, and coop missions too along with admittedly tedious and limited customisation, but it's still there if you want it.
Now why should you not hate? It's simple; the game provides fun and exciting gameplay that really capture the essence of star wars. Sound tracks are (for the most part) great and sound design is astonishing! The guns are fun to use and combat is hectic but solid. The graphics are movie-like, seeing some of the stuff happen in game brings a tear to your eye at how good it is!
Honestly though, I am pissed about EA's money whoring season pass but i'm still enjoying the game, and i'm not being childish about it. Sadly doesn't live up to the originals but is a worthy contemporary take on the game. I will buy the season pass mainly because i'm enjoying the game and if you don't like the game don't worry, you don't have to buy the game!
On an additional note, voice acting is a little dodgy. It's a good, fun game, and looks incredible. Don't mess up the ratings systems with your tantrums.

£49.99 for the base game is already expensive for a PC game in my opinion, but the fact that it is merely a shell for paid DLC is disgusting. £95 for a game? **** off.

If you are on the fence about this game this review is for you. First of all the graphics and sound design are phenomenal(playing on PS4). EA has absolutely nailed the Star Wars universe here. The dense forests of Endor, the snow covered hills and valleys of Hoth have been painstakingly recreated to perfection. You are transported to a galaxy far far away like never before. In terms of game play, its very solid. It is not quite as hardcore as Call of Duty or Halo and leans more toward an arcade experience but the same gun handling skills that rack up kills in CoD and other major shooters will work here as well. Those claiming that this is Battlefield with a Star Wars skin are way off base. Naturally there are similarities since both games share the same developer but as a long time Battlefield vet I can tell you that this is a different animal. There is a wealth of modes here and while some are better than others the sheer amount of options is very welcome. I suspect most people will gravitate toward Walker Assault and Supremacy. These are both big team battle modes which focus on controlling specific areas of the map. If you are interested in a slightly more intimate experience there are plenty of modes which offer smaller player counts and cozier maps. However, the force is not entirely strong with this one as it could be and I do have a few gripes with the title. Respawns can be a bit problematic. I have spawned in the middle of an enemy battalion countless times. Some of the gun play can be erratic at times. In some instances a few laser bolts will put an enemy down for good while other times two dozen will have no effect. This does not happen very often and these could be connection issues or something that could be addressed with a patch but it is worth pointing out. My other issue with the game is that lack of maps at launch. The game ships with 4 planets and while they are all rendered beautifully and a blast to play a larger variety would have been most welcome. With all of that said this game is an absolute blast. Controls feel great and there is enough mode variety here to keep you busy for a long time. I do wish there was a dedicated campaign included but the multiplayer is so well designed that I can overlook the omission. I do want to point out that Star Wars fans will get a little more out of the title than non fans due to the fantastic sense of place which Dice has created here. There are plenty of Easter eggs throughout the maps that will tickle your nostalgia and put a big smile on your face. This game was made to allow players to relive their Star Wars fantasies and while there is still plenty here for shooter fans with no interest in the Star Wars universe, fans will get the most bang for their buck. I’m having an absolute blast. I hope that folks interested in the title give it a try and not be turned away from a great gaming experience by all the hate and misspelled reviews from people who have not even played this title. Most major review sites are giving it an 8 and I would say that is spot on. A well made and insanely fun shooter with a few minor shortcomings which are overshadowed by the fun factor. Expand

Multiplayer - Now for a game focused mainly on an online and multiplayer experience it could've done way better. I occasionally found myself and an opponent killing each other at the same time which happened way too frequently, and as for grenades, i usually get killed by at least once a few seconds before spawning. Now the biggest problems i had are the Blasters Lack of variety feel. Its like you have your basic LMG, Assault Rifle, and Pistol. Each barley having any noticeable difference. the sights are also a bit too plain if you ask me..

As for the solo or co-op experience - Ive only played survival with some friends and it seems to work well if there is anything i could say about it is it could've added a bit more variety and strategy for the enemy A.I.

Customization - ok for this Category im going to keep it short.
Lets be Honest who really wants to be an imperial and have human faces all the good trooper helmets and types are unlockable but at a high level of around 40 to 50 maybe even 60.
Same goes for Rebels wouldn't you rather be a different Race besides all these human iterations? i mean you can unlock them but its going to take a lot of leveling up.

The progression isn't as capturing or motivating until the you start reaching higher levels. But overall the gameplay is Fun even if its not as deep as it could be. Which is where being a fan kind of covers up the bad aspects. The best Thing i can say about the game though is the Graphics are sooooo beautiful to look at!

An enjoyable Star Wars Multiplayer Experience. The Content level is definitely low with only 4 Battlegrounds and no Campaign. The worst Thing is that this Game has no Story whatsoever but it has great Gameplay and Shooter Elements. The Price is just too high for Battlefront. What remains is an enjoyable Shooter Experience with a nice Star Wars Sauce.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Battlefront is everything I've ever asked for from star wars and it really does make me feel as if Im in the Star Wars Universe. Beautiful game, well made, quick to learn and just all out fun to play. However, EA said they wanted to replicate the star wars battles yet there is a lack of space battles which sort of defeats the point of star wars. It would of been great if we had both battles of the death star in the game. There are also other maps they could of made that were in the original trilogy. Im also very disapointed with the amount of playable maps that are available. Playing these maps over and over again will eventually become boring. So hopefully they will add maps in future dlc. The fact that there isn't a single player doesn't bother me at all, star wars isn't the only game to not have a single player. Overall the game is great fun, love playing it, community is friendly and I highly recommend it to people who just want to feel like they are a kid again and fly the millennium Falcon. Good Job EA. If you're not a fan of Star Wars and/or do not have online access, this game might not be for you. The game itself will have four expansions coming to it, and one could even say the development of the game is still early. I mean, just look at Destiny (the video game). When it was released, it sold well (because of the marketing) but the game itself was in many people's opinions (including mine) more of a flop. A year later however, more people bought the expansion to the game (than when the game was first released) because the game's developers literally redefined the game, almost improving on every aspect. My hope is that the same will be for Battlefront also. And you can't say Dice did not put effort and hard work into this game. Just by looking at the graphics and listening to the sound effects, you can tell that they loved Star Wars and they loved working with it. I read most of the professional critic reviews and most of the flaws in the game (according to them) were: the story (you can watch the freaking movies, it's STAR WARS for crying out loud), the soundtrack (Uh, they could have not HAD a soundtrack??? Plus, you can just mute it if you don't like it - the sound effects are good enough alone), and pointless game modes that are too similar to Battlefield and other shooters. That statement is highly opinionated and is sad to hear pro critics saying things like this. Besides, did you know that Battlefront started off as a Battlefield mod? Yes, in Battlefield 1942 there was a Star Wars mod and that's where game developers got the idea for Battlefront. If you don't believe me, you can do some research. Yes, a FEW disappointments here and there (soundtrack, modes that are "pointless," and no story), but overall, Battlefront is an amazing game fully deserving of a nine out ten rating an that is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It is not a game for people who are looking for a single-player experience. If that's what you want, then I think you are going to find the offerings a bit thin. There are quite a few single player/co-op missions, but I don't find them all that engrossing.

The multiplayer is great, though. The maps for Supremacy and Walker Assault are generally really well designed, though Supremacy still needs a little spawn tweaking on certain maps. Fighter Squadron, Drop Zone, and Droid Run are all a blast as well. Blast (team deathmatch) does not interest me in this, or any other, shooter. Unique playmodes like Heroes v. Villains and Hero Hunt are also available and fun, but not quite as engrossing to me.

It would be a nice, I suppose, if there were more maps for Walker Assault and Supremacy, though the free Jakku DLC will likely add another to each. But I am really pleased with the maps that are available. They are quite large and it will take me a while to really learn them.

More importantly, I am really pleased with the gameplay, which is some of the most fun I've had in a first-person shooter ever. For me, this game was worth every penny.

Vehicle use is disappointing, as previous battlefront and even battlefield games you had to first learn how to fly under control before learning how to dogfight, this game it's far too easy to control vehicles and getting kills in vehicles is far too easy and less skillful. Not every game mode is great but it's still fun (though having no galactic conquest is downright confusing). And in defense of this game having no campaign, they warned us consumers about that, so if you buy this unaware of no campaign and it being online only.. then my guess is you're mentally lacking and you need to do your research before dropping $60+ dollars on a game. Anyway I give this game an 8 for reasons that the sound and graphics are amazing, the ability to play as star wars heroes is cool, and while gameplay is simplistic and is more of a "point & shoot" fps, it still takes much more skill and quickness to get kills consistently than other fps's... i.e. Call of Duty! Supremacy is a ton of fun, a tug of war Rush type game with the ability to take and re-take control points. Very fluid game style and unlike any I've played before. Blast (TDM), Drop Zone and anyone who played the beta is familiar with Walker assault. Although Walker assault on Endor is ridiculously fun.
Any Star Wars fan will love this game, the musical score is immersive and you feel like you are in the SW universe. The Maps are incredibly detailed and wide open. Speeder bikes on Endor, AT-ST's, AT-ATs, A-Wings, Slave 1, the list goes on.
I don't understand the lack of content gripe either, so many game modes, and while there may be only 4 planets the maps on each planet cover a wide area. Destiny only launched with 4 planets and all of their game modes occurred on the same section of that map.
I have been waiting for a long time for this game and to me it did not disappoint.

Game sounds and looks incredible. thats where my praise ends, the beta was false advertising for a shallow game with nothing to offer. No Campaign, lack of maps, lack of game modes, and painfully slow progression that will make you grind more in than a Free to play game.

Starting with the good, the game is simply gorgeous. From sound to graphics to overall atmosphere, it nails everything Star Wars perfectly. The way blasters function are a breath of fresh air to the shooter genre, and really serves to mix things up in very nice ways.

Now that we have the three sentences of good out of the way, here's the bad: there's nothing to keep you playing for more than a few days. I'm an avid Destiny player, and Destiny is notorious for having much less content than it was hyped up for, but at least its gameplay was just varied and exciting enough to keep you crawling back for more, replaying what little story missions there are for an exotic weapon or hidden ghosts to read more about the lore. Battlefront didn't even care to include a story, instead opting for its single player/co-op experience to be a pretty basic horde mode with a set number of waves all set in a single location on one of four planets. It's just so shallow and dull that I really can't find anything to justify paying $60 for it. If this were a free-to-play game and you had to spend real money to buy upgrades and cosmetic effects, I would actually give it a higher score. There's simply nothing to keep you playing unless all you do is competitive multiplayer, in which there are dozens of other much more well-established games out there for you.

All in all, you could just buy one of the old Battlefront games for much cheaper and have a much more satisfying experience. If, however, all you're looking for is a gorgeous series of setpieces to wander in awe (while being shot at) of the sheer beauty of the Star Wars universe, then this game is perfect for you.

If you want frantic battles that you can play with friends and just have fun. Look here. Intimidated by online shooters? Afraid you will go 2-20 in a game and have some 13 year old nerd rage at you. Don't worry chat is limited to party chat. Not good at shooters? You can still have fun. Just when you are at the point where you are getting slaughtered an AT ST power comes to save you and you can lets some steam lose by blasting that Rebel Scum to bits.

A rant about something I have seen in other reviews---
My favorite complaint is about the lack of recoil on the weapons..... LOLOLOL. People obviously don't understand physics. The reason a weapon has recoil is because it is projecting mass one direction which causes the launch mechanism to absorb the energy created in the opposite direction.

LASERS DONT HAVE MASS. Well they due I guess technically but not enough to cause a noticeable recoil effect. Any movement of a laser based weapon would be caused by the internal mechanism that create the laser itself. It could vibrate, be unstable in some ways but there would be no recoil... whats next are people going to complain that flashlights don't have recoil?? anyways rant over. -----

Recommendation- If you like Star Wars and want a fun game, buy it.
If you want a game to fill your empty life with endless hours of FPS killing get CoD.

So instead of Micro transactions they give you no content and then massive DLC costs for content which should have been included in the game to start with. Game companies are just fleecing people and using the lure of a big name title to do it. Oh and no Campaign mode so all I can do is listen to ignorant kids shouting with their high pitched voices - yea that's so much fun.

Battlefront brings the excitement of Star Wars to gaming in a huge way with this game. However, the spawns are terrible and unfair for the rebels, there is far too much micro-transactions such as the season pass that is pushed on players, and there is no campaign or space battles in it to fully embrace Star Wars for what it is

The lack content really hits the game the hardest here only offering a fun survival mode that will have you fending off waves of enemies. Survival entertain you for the first handful of times you play it. The other notable offline mode is battles similar to survival being that it does not have much replay value. Battles is a mode similar to kill confirmed in the Call of Duty games. Star Wars Battlefront is one of the better multiplayer with one of the best looking games that is out there but once you run out of things to do there isn't much reason to keep playing it. Finally Star Wars Battlefront is a good game that i enjoy 7.5/10

There are only two cons that I really have with the game. The first is of course the DLC policy of EA. The second is the real lack of customization within the game. There are a decent amount of weapons and star cards but there could always be more. It would be really nice to have some modable weapons like a different scope or slightly better damage for less accuracy type of thing.

The real problem with the customization is with the player appearance. It would have been nice to be able to unlock say, a scout troopers helmet and stick it on a snow trooper's armor. Really, I would have been really happy with the ability to put markings and paint on the stormtrooper's armor and to switch up what your rebel is wearing a little. All you can do is change the face of the person which is a real shame.

In the end this really is a good game. It is balanced and bug free which is rare to say of many AAA games coming out these days. The graphics are amazing, even on a console, and the gameplay is solid. Its getting low scores mostly because of the DLC (which is somewhat justified) and butthurt ppl who just wanted a clone of battlefront 2.

So basically the game is dry and they skimped out on a lot, compared to Battlefront 2 and Dices Battle Field games I feel they gave us way less then what we expected from the pass. The maps are all great but there's not many of them. I see other ppl comments and I really don't understand why game creators don't listen to fans. Looks like Dice is slowly turning into C.O.D. The game is good, but once again EA rips out content to sell it to you as DLC. The game would have been great with all the content left, even worth the $60 or more. But we get a shallow game and are forced to buy DLC if we want the full experience.

Once you get over the aesthetics, you're done with the game. It is BADLY missing the content to pull you in for the long run in terms of multi-player, and the whole thing absolutely screams for a Bioshock Infinite style single player narrative experience, but gives you nothing of the sort.

The gameplay is lacking a bit as well. No recoil, no feedback to weapon firing and no aim penalty to moving or jumping etc. However, I think that is by design, as the game is going all out to attract casual gamers who are Star Wars fans, rather than the eSport crowd.

If you go into this looking for a fantastic shooter, you're going to be sorely disappointed. If you go into this as a Star Wars fan who happens to own a PS4 or whatever, and all you want is the feeling of being in the movies, then you'll love this... for a couple of days anyway.

With all the game modes game modes there are so many different ways to play. Single player, co-op, multi player.

I had a ton of fun playing Hero Battles to hone my skills using the 6 heroes currently available (Darth Vader, Emperor, boba fett, Luke Skywalker, Leia & Solo). After having a blast mowing down troops I moved to the multiplayer Hero Hunt which was incredible fun. In this mode there is a single hero and whoever kills him gets to be the next hero, whoever ends up with the most kills wins. It's a fast and fun game mode and it's very exciting to be a hero taking on a bunch of troops.

Fighter Squadron is a very well done game mode and is one of my favorites. Flying around in a fur ball of fighters with really great explosions going on all around you really put you right in the game.

Heroes VS Villains is another amazing game mode I feel doesn't get enough credit. 3 VS 3 heroes/villains with troop support. This is the best game mode for facing off the heroes.

The Endor race is the absolute best I've seen in any Star Wars game.

Star Wars Battlefront is the type of go to game for epic online battles on a huge scale in a beautiful and detailed environment. The game is very well made and there are very few bugs or online issues at launch. I myself have experienced no issues at all.

While we're on content, I know a lot of people are complaining about the Season Pass but to be fair after how DICE handled Battlefield 4 I'm okay with it. The amount and quality of content that was released for BF4 was easily worth the $50, it really kept the game fresh.

So this is my fanboy opinion. If you love StarWars then grab this game. Battlefront of old and even rogue squadron is represented in this package. Yes there's no space, you won't care. Looks like the force awakens trailers. Gun down x wings in the space, watch eWoks flee in terror as you are the emperor running through endor, fight in laser filled battles on hoth... I'm loving it.

For people that are not die hard Star Wars fans I give it an 7.5. There are certainly other shooters online that offer more. I mean you could just play battlefield or halo... But that is not me. I can't wait for the movies and have waited years for another battlefront. There is still Jakkuu coming and yes like a sucker I will get the expansions along with many other nerds.

Graphics, sound are all top notch and Star Wars has never looked better. There could be more maps and content but if I can remember correctly I'm always playing the same maps in other shooters and usually only one game mode entertains me. I also don't remember anything like a story in battlefront of old and all I was doing was shooting pixelated AI...

Graphics and sound are great but the depth of the game is not deeper than a teaspoon. Innovation has come to a standstill in fps games and this game was an opportunity to get it right, but it feels empty.

Great Star Wars immersiveness, extremely poor first person shooter. Especially given the pedigree of EA Dice - what a huge let down. People were worried it will just be a Battlefield game with a Star Wars makeover. Oh how I wish it was.

I love this game! I am a big star wars fan and collector. It has been a while since a good star wars game has come out and I feel that DICE did it right! I feel that all of the negativity surrounding this game is completely unnecessary and actually hurts games more than anything. I feel that this game captures the feeling of the movies and lets you really recreate your own battles. I think that alone makes this game a 10/10. It saddens me that other games can get a 9 out of 10, but this only gets a 7 or 8 out of a 10. I realize that reviews at the end of the day are only one story though and to really tell if your going to like the game is to just play it yourself. That is why I tested the beta and I absolutely loved it. I also believe that DICE really worked very hard on this game and I understand to make games like this today requires a lot of time and hard work. I am thankful that there is people out there that are willing to make great games and I appreciate all of you. I believe that is people should form a review based on Constructive criticism. This is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of constructive criticism is to improve the outcome. So I think it is sad when I see all the negativity and hate from people. This world already has hate, war, crime, drugs, and the last thing we need is that in the gaming community. Why can't people just be positive? It is so much better. Anyways thanks again DICE! :D Expand

The game gives fans of Star Wars exactly what it needs and that's playing the role of iconic character in the world that is Star Wars. The controls are simple and clean. The graphics are amazing and the environments looks luxurious. Definitely recommend for any Star Wars fan looking to live out there dream of living in the Star Wars world.

Well...i played it, how do I say without Star Wars Fans killing me...
This Game is quite boring. If you want to play a Game like this, you could play Battlefield, because this is just another BF Game, for the exception, its not very fun to play.

    "The EA Strikes Again"

Another example of a big name company building a fantastic platform then stripping the final product down to bare bones so they can scalp the complete experience to us through later DLC's. Imagine a kindergartener being given a 64 count box of new crayons. Now watch them open the box only to find the yellows and pinks included. That pretty much sums up the deal

The intros a tease. This is a piece of **** This is one of those chaotic unbalanced free play to play games. ****ty hud that is red and blue text, confusing, ugly and hard to read. You spawn out of no where. It's not even close to battlefield, or battlefront 2 from ps2 days which i never played, its trash. There's no structure. No classes, it should be setup like Battlefield like battlefront and all dice major multplayer games are setup and are amazing compared to this, you start off and it's well organized with vehicles, great graphics and atmosphere. Theres rolesand vehicles, progressive epic giagantic battles. Of course some CQB aswell. I would think they'd have 128 players going at it perfectly balanced after all they've leared from battlefield 3 and 4. This is the worst game I have ever played, it goes back to **** when I was kid at the beginning of the last consoles life with the same ****ty graphics from that time, it is worse then games like Warhawk for ps3, which had better graphics and gameplay. I can't believe I spent 95 dollars Canadian thinking something else. This one of the rarest turds I have ever encountered. There's plenty of 'free to play' games on the dashboard and psn similar and better, the multiplayer sucks that bad it's not worth a cent plus i had to put in another $20 to play online (ps4 is now like xbox) and there's no dedicated servers or anything Expand

Fighter Squadron is the only mode worth playing with Walker Assault being behind it, yet that mode suffers from the game's core components. The sounds are amazing, as well as the graphics, but infantry gameplay is not as fun as one would think. Without a campaign or a galactic conquest, there is little reason to play this game for more than a few hours. Expand

Looks amazing! Seriously, I mean WOW! You do feel like you are in the SW world. Unfortunately it goes downhill from here.

Cons: 1. There is no story mode, so that limits your experience. The solo or co-op missions are severely lacking. It’s just do the same thing 15 times. No, seriously, that’s it. Really! 2. Controls are pretty unintuitive. They don't really let you map controls,
Looks amazing! Seriously, I mean WOW! You do feel like you are in the SW world. Unfortunately it goes downhill from here.

    Cons:

    1. There is no story mode, so that limits your experience. The solo or co-op missions are severely lacking. It’s just do the same thing 15 times. No, seriously, that’s it. Really!

    2. Controls are pretty unintuitive. They don't really let you map controls, just a choice of 2 in each option. Oddly placed the worst option as default. But that’s just my opinion. It may work for others… Maybe?

    3. This one really pissed me off, but the flying portion. It's less than half-assed. As an avid air combat game fan, this was piss poor on its best day.
    • The user doesn't really have full control (i.e steering). A pilot needs actual flight controls to, oh I don't know.... roll? : p

    • The radar is useless as it only shows a blue or red ball for a transport ship. Heaven forbid it shows something useful like the other craft around me, or the missile that was fired at me.

    • There is absolutely no real felling of speed and handling is pretty bad. No matter if at max speed or slowest speed, looks and feels like your going the same with the exception of your ship is closer or farther from the screen. Turning isn't tighter depending on your speed either, it's as if there is no G force. Which would have been forgivable, if you were in space! but all battles are on a planet! (Facepalm)

    • Controls could have been thought out far better, or let the user decide the button layout, as it was apparent they didn't know what the right way would be.

    • Default maneuvers are so useless that I wish they would have abandoned them and focused more on letting users use their own. Though it makes sense these were added with the existence of the other points. (i.e. Flight controls, radar, speed and maneuverability)

    • I could go on for hours on the implied lack of research or willingness to put in the work to this portion of the game. It's almost as if it was something they tagged on because they realized they hadn't put in enough.

    4. Speeder bike is a little difficult. Not a complaint, it’s challenging, which is good (albeit frustrating at times). Though there are a few spots the you blow up and you really shouldn’t as there’s not really anything there. At least that I could see.

    5. Online FPS has a problem in that you are frequently either spawned in the middle of a firefight, depending on the map. I typically found this to be true on Hoth (supremacy). Spawning to only last 2 seconds before a AT-ST standing 20 feet away blows you to hell, gets annoying. Now, other modes seem to have campers, which speaks more to possible lack of foresight to put in the code to not spawn at spot X if opponent present.

    6. Matching is pretty poor. If there is a team that is consistency plowing the other, the users should be swapped around to provide a more potentially enjoyable user experience. This is pretty standard these days, so I’ll assume that this is just a bug and not an oversight.

    7. Extremely limited in locations. For the time and effort put in to this game, I would have expected a fair bit more. Then again, I assume that this is where the money grab comes in with expansions. Surprise!!!

    8. Jumping… I mean there are so many places that you should be able to jump to, but can’t It’s pretty much an inch too high for you, so you can’t do it without a jetpack. I mean, you can just keep trying to jump while others laugh at and shoot you. That works too.

    Pros:

    1. Looks AMAZING! Yup, gonna say it again. Have to give them credit for that.

    2. As far as FPS online gameplay goes, it’s not bad. You get the feeling you are in SW for sure

    3. Supremacy mode is an awesome idea and for the most part, enjoyable

    Overall:

If you are a user that is looking to pick up a game that you’re going to play every now and again, you'll likely be disappointed / frustrated. If you're a gamer that'll spend 3-5hrs a day playing this, then you’re likely going to get over the controls and issues and just play the multiplayer only. Solo will bore you to the point you will ask why is this here? It’s more like a training / tutorial than gameplay.

Don't know what the diorama portion is for, but I’m not exactly enthralled with finding out. But hey, maybe it’s your thing. ;)

Overall I give this a 5 as I was extremely excited about this game. I bought the Ultimate-Supreme-Mega-Super-Omega version for the extras and season pass crap. Yeah, I thought it was going to be that good. Heh! Shows you there’s a sucker born every minute huh? They could still make this the game that us Star Wars fans were wanting and expecting (their advertising and releases set said expectations so I can’t take 100% responsibility for mismanaged expectations), but this means a lot of patches and bug fixes.

I certainly hope they do it, because I wasn’t so bad to like this game and play it as often as I had anticipate but this is up to them. Let’s see if they listen.

It's EA and a cash grab as usual. But hey, at least they proved you CAN polish a turd. After the disaster that was the BF4 launch, you'd think they would learn. I mean my BF 4 didn't have a campaign either. After my game save being corrupted a million times, I never technically got a campaign with BF 4. EA, I hope you go out of business you greedy b******s.

It's not the most complex shooter, but it's the ideal pick-up-and-play experience for Star Wars fans. Stunning environments, solid shooting and immersive sound design mask the shortcomings. [Jan 2016, p.82]

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.

Spectacular production values help to make this game enjoyable in the early going, but it soon enough shows that it is painfully lacking in terms of maps and depth in its current form. [Issue#265, p.72]
