Battlefront is a very good looking game with excellent graphics and textures in addition it is very fun to play.
However the game lacks content in regards to maps, single player and no space battles.

This is simply not Star Wars Battlefront but Star Wars Battlefield. They used the stuff of Battlefront 1 and 2 that sucked and no real fan did play anyways (huge maps, vehicles and heroes), while providing no small scale ctf/deathmatch with good and diverse balancing. Also, no Clone Wars and no space battles. 0 p because this is a hoax and/or major ****

Endor suffers from the low resolution the most, as it has the most detail, but it all ends up looking like a flickering cluttered mess, and I don't even want to think about the xbone version running at just 720p. In the end, SWBF is an underwhelming experience, and without the fancy Star Wars skin, no one would look twice at this game. Expand

No story mode, no real command posts it seems either? I only played the tutorial flying mission, which had the crappiest controls,a ""hero"" battle on Hoth with me as Luke and my friend as Vader?? What the frick is that? GAH. And in the regular battle mode you only have one base character and the builds don't even correspond to the personnel it seems and you can't even be a hero in regular battle. AND you can't be on the same team. Recalling older BF games there were several game modes and the fields were way more expansive than what I played on split screen with my friend. i didn't get a chance to try the online multiplayer, but I'll say this- I am not going to purchase this game or any DLC until like a year from now and its a used/pre-owned one, cause Lord knows there'll be a ton of them by this time next year. -Limited maps(The most I counted was like FIVE).
-Asking people to buy a 50 Dollar season pass for more content.
-So much for a Campaign because there isn't one!
-Flying is so terribly controlled you'll feel like you're playing a Bubsy game(And that's saying a lot.)
    -The minimap is ****.
    -The spawns are ****
-These controls are annoying. I love how after I use the jump pack I just instantly Melee for no reason
-You can't interact with the things in the map or go any place you should go(Like for example you cannot shoot Jawas for some reason but you can totally jump on top of the giant vehicle they own).
    -Lack of Weapons

So yes. This is just Electronic Arts just trying to take your money because they don't care about you. Buy a better game that was released in 2015 like Witcher 3 or Fallout 4. At least I can play those two without being killed instantly by some random ****

I also can't see a 0 being an honest score - because the mechanics, graphics and sounds are phenomenal.

    My issues with the game
    No Online split-screen
    No Galactic Conquest
    No Space Battles
    No meaningful Single Player mode
"Supremacy" mode is more of a tug-of-war, whereas the old battlefronts you could take any command post on the map and it was more tactical and enjoyable.
Heroes are massively OP - and there aren't enough of them.
Nerf the heroes and allow 2-3 per side at a time.

    However
Walker Assault and Turning Point are good 20v20 modes.
Turning point can only be played on one map, so that sucks.
There are now 10 different game types, so you have diversity in what you can play.
I enjoy Cargo, Blast and Drop Pod modes.
I hate Droid Run, Heroes vs Villains and Hero Hunt - but to each its own.

Dice sent a patch update in early-mid December that balanced the gameplay nicely, but it did nerf some items.

If this was a full game, I would have gladly given it a 9 or 10 - the mechanics are that good, but with all of the missing content and "Season Pass" (pay-wall). It deserves a 5. - Too bad because it was a great franchise.

3rd Con.: The lack of maps. There are currently 5 (?) maps in this game which means you will play the same map more than once in a short time.
4th Con.: No story. I played SW:B I & SW:B II both on PlayStation2 and I really enjoyed the campaign and the different maps.
5th. Con.: Overpowered Heroes/Villains. I'm not saying, that every hero in this game is OP, but Boba Fett and Han Solo surely are.
As Solo, you have the ability that makes you kill another hero in 2 shots and as Boba you can just wait for your rocket to recharge and get insane killstreaks (I got a 46-0 on Hoth playing as Boba the whole match).
6th Con.: To keep it short: it kinda looks like battlefield.

    - You can easily get in and out of matches and do not have to dedicate time to enjoy the game. What i mean is if i only have 30 min to kill i can play a few matches and have a great time. If i have 4 hours to kill i can still enjoy playing and work towards unlocks.

    The Bad
    - Easy skill level may turn off more serious gamers.
    - Most blasters do not feel unique.
    - Some game modes are very short when i would like them to be a bit longer.
    - No character customization or weapon mods.
    - An AI to shoot at during multiplayer.
    - Becoming a hero requires a random pickup instead of being a reward to a skillful player.
    - I would like more heros and villains to choose from. #whereschewy

The lack of story kills it tho - I love story based games - the story usually makes the judgement call. Then the modes. I do not care. I like a game for gameplay, and while a bunch of modes is nice, the ones packed are great. And people who argue about the amount of maps are weird - LOOK AT THE MAPS. The maps look so amazing, I bet most of the development time went into them. Now the multiplayer. Hate it. I'm not a big fan of multiplayer, but here it is something like this
1)You spawn in the middle of a battle and die.
2)You spawn at the other side of the map, and spend 2 minutes going to the battle, and then die.

The Heroes and Viliains are not very fun to play as, other than Boba Fett. Lots of modes, but it really just boils down to shooting people, other than the Fighter Squadron and Heroes vs Villains modes. The way vehicles are handled in this game is not good. You can only get vehicles if you find power-ups on the battlefield. There is a much better way to do this, but EA was afraid of ripping stuff from other series like Battlefield. If they would have taken the essentials from other games and just added in Star Wars things, the game would be a lot better. Graphics are great as usual from DICE. Sound and atmosphere are spot on. Even though I have many problems with this game, I still enjoyed playing it. The lack of content disappoints me, and I'm sure as hell not buying the Season Pass, but I'm looking forward to the sequel so that DICE and EA can fix some of these problems, and add in a Campaign, and Clone Wars stuff(and Sequel trilogy content). I'm just happy that this came with my PS4 and I didn't have to pay an extra $60 for it. Expand

Let me start off with the game's good quality's. The Graphics, sound, and design overall is fantastic. Plus the game feels like your in a true, real, star war's battle (especially on Hoth). But the game's fun factor soon fades due to the lack of content.

There are to me personally, two good game modes, Supremacy and Fighter Squadron ( idk if thats the right name). All the rest seem to be filler game modes. Supremacy is a really good game mode, but seeing it only has 4 maps to go along with it kinda made it very repetitive after a while. The game also doesn't have much to offer to as of customization. I dont believe there is a single gun attachment. If that doesn't explain the lack of content i dont know what will.

Also there is no campaign, just survival. Which is by the way a very, very bland and boring horde mode. The only good factor of survival is the opening and ending CGI moments. But in the end those only depress me in the way that i would have rather had a fully done story.

Overall the game looks, sounds, and feels amazing (for a while). But lacks any real content to keep you playing. If your a true star wars fan i recommend buying this when the price is lower or picking up the season pass to ensure you get at least some more content in DLC form. If your not a hardcore fan, then you could pass on this, its really just a casual star wars experience.

Almost all of them are automatic firing weapons. None of them are semi-auto and there are two that are burst fire. The only variations is the fire rate and damage.

You cannot put scopes on your weapon or change anything else on your weapon. The incredibly low level of customization ruined this game for me. I want my money back.

DICE spent as little time as they could on the single player mode and I hate online video games. It's basically a gimmick to force you to spend money on PSN-Plus. Sony's probably thinking, "Hey, if you don't have PSN Plus, you can't access the majority of the game content, so we're going to package PS4s with a game that you can only play online." Bologna, I say.

If you've got the system already, I would only buy this game if you are obsessed with first-person-shooters and multiplayer. If you are expecting any depth, I'm sorry to say this isn't a game for you. Playstation really needs to either make PS4 totally backwards compatible or make new versions of the original battlefront and battlefront ii for PS4. Because, quite frankly, my PS2 is getting old and sluggish.

    Things EA Battlefront lacks:
    1) Storyline
    2) Interesting maps
    3) Space battles
    4) Singleplayer playability (minimal selection of game modes)
    5) Splitscreen playability (minimal selection of game modes)
    6) Federation vs Republic
    7) Did I mention Depth???

Oh yeah and there's no Galactic Conquest. That was always my favorite part of Battlefront II...

I would say this game is probably worth about $20. Don't spend $60 on a game like this unless you are obsessed with multiplayer FPSs. Video games have so much potential as a form of art -- combining literature, graphics, and interactivity. Pure FPSs miss the literary and interactive aspects. Then again, maybe I'm not like most gamers... I still play Myst :P

But still, there is not much cooperation which is what makes me happy. Its an over-all great game, but you can feel how they have forced themselves to scale away a bunch of details just to please the franchise and the targeted audience.

EA once again shamefully exploiting the market. Seriously?! For a full priced game there is nothing to it. I've played iPhone apps with more content than this. Unless you are ADHD, you'll get bored with this after 5 mins. Giving this a zero to counter the ridiculous 10 scores. No way this game deserves more than 4.

TL;DR: MASSIVELY overpriced. You only get like 1-2hrs worth of content and the rest is locked in DLC! Another 50$ please!

    Full review:

    GAMEPLAY:
The weapons that both the Imperial and Rebel side are blasters. Since they are more easy to make and don't require alot of thought to them, they're alright-ish. The thing is, there are only 11 weapons and the spread of all the blasters are so damn random that you never really get used to it and that you don't feel like you actually earned a kill, just luck. And what makes me more pissed about it, is that the DL-44 weapon that is at the top is the EXACT SAME model of Han Solo's blaster that you get in the deluxe edition!
Now that's out of the way there are the Heroes and Villains, classic characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia on the Heroes side and Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Emperor Palpatine on the Villains side.
If you get one of these Heroes/Villains, you're instantly guaranteed 20-30 kills. Boba Fett is particularly troublesome as he has his Jet pack and can jump around giving the normal players not much of a chance to get shots on him.

Now the game modes, there are like 9 of them, Walker Assault, Supremacy, Blast, Heroes VS Villains, Hero Hunt, Fighter Squadron, Cargo, Droid Run and Drop Zone.

Walker Assault is the most fleshed out and played game mode, the rebels have to take down the AT-AT Walkers while the Imperial defend them. Pretty much that. The rebels have to capture uplinks to spawn in a Y-Wing to make the AT-AT vulnerable to attacks. Other than that small time period of vulnerability, the AT-ATs are virtually indestructible. The Imperials have to shut down the uplinks and escort the AT-ATs from point A to point B. This by far is the most fleshed out game mode there is.

Supremacy is a domination style game mode where Rebels and Imperials fight for five key points in a 40 player clash. There's really nothing special here.

    Blast is just Team deathmatch.

Heroes VS Villains is exactly what it is, three players play as Heroes while three players play as Villains with some other players as ground troops. Kill all the heroes on one side and your team or the opposing team gets a point. By far one of the least played game modes but also the best one.

Hero Hunt is one Hero vs 7 Stormtroopers. The hero will soak up LOTS of damage and it'll take LOTS of time to kill the hero. The stormtrooper who gets the last hit on the hero becomes a hero.

Fighter Squadron is an aerial combat gamemode where Rebels and Imperials clash in the airs. Basically Team deathmatch in the air. Some special vehicles appear, that being Slave-I and the Millennium Falcon.

Cargo is just capture the flag.

Droid Run is an escort mission where the Rebels escort an R2 unit from point A to point B while the Imperials try to stop them.

Drop Zone is like moving domination. Escape pods are crashing from the sky and Rebels and Imperials fight for control over them.

    GRAPHICS AND SOUND

Graphics are absolutely AMAZING. Everything is beautiful, from far and close. Amazing job DICE.
Sound Design also is absolutely AMAZING. Everything sounds authentic, you feel like you're in the Star Wars universe for some time until you snap out of it.

    PROGRESSION

Oh boy. Atrocious, absolutely atrocious. Only 11 weapons and these "Star Cards" Basically cards that give you a weapon, grenade or whatever else. But there are these Trait cards that give an advantage to higher ranked people against newer players. Totally unfair.
The customization? HAHAAAAAHAHAHA!!! Laughable. Totally laughable. You only start unlocking the cool stuff when you're high ranked. Even then it's already laughable compared to other Battlefront games.

    VALUE, DLC, MICRO PAYMENTS

IT'S A TRAP! Do NOT buy this game if you're looking for great value! There is LITERALLY NOTHING that you can do other than unlock accessories and Star Cards. After about 2 hours of game I feel like I already saw it all. There's nothing unique.
"Oh but there is DLC coming!" Don't come to me with that **** If a game company isn't giving the players a good initial value then why bother paying for it. I made a mistake buying this game.

One thing that's a nit pick but really annoyed me was how terrible the voice acting is for Darth Vader, honestly, I could do a better job. I first played through some of the solo missions, they were fun, but quickly got repetitive. I then decided to go through some of the training missions, basically code name for tutorials. The tutorials were okay, but the last one where you had to wrap an AT-AT with a cable like in Episode 5 was horrible. I didn't understand what it wanted me to do at all. I ended up just quitting it. So first of all in game design you're supposed to teach players how to play the game by putting the tutorials in the gameplay, in a way so that the player doesn't notice it's even there, not in a separate mode. Then one of the tutorials even failed to teach me how to do a key strategy for taking down a walker. I don't have PSN, so I couldn't play the multiplayer, just an FYI I find it completely stupid that I have to pay $50 to play the other half of the game my brother got me for I presume about the same amount. I did play some of the multiplayer during the beta though, and like other reviews, it's fun for a little while, but then it just gets repetitive and stale. I'll be playing this game every now and then with some friends, since thank God it does have local multiplayer. I look forward to having fun experiences playing this with friends. But if you just play it by yourself I'd either not buy it or way till it's a lot cheaper. Expand

I couldn't have been more happy to see what EA would have to offer with this new Battlefront game. And boy, did my excitement drain out quickly!! This is a disgrace to the old Battlefront games and just shows how thirsty EA is very money. Without the release of the new Star Wars movie this wouldn't have had any chance in making any money. It lacks any replay ability as it gets boring after just a few rounds of different modes. And it completely lacks any single player or offline modes!!!! Yes they are there, but they are the most boring, lazy attempts at any type of offline mode. If you don't have online then this is a complete waste of money, and with the promise of "Season Pass Content" This game is a complete joke. DO NOT BUY THE SEASON PASS!!!!!!! DO NOT FALL FOR GOOD GRAPHICS. YES YOU MIGHT WANT THE ADDITION OF GOOD GRAPHICS BUT IT SHOULD BE GAMEPLAY AND STORY OVER GRAPHICS. Despite the currently unfavorable reviews, this is truly not a terrible game. I think people should understand 2 things when buying this game, which in my opinion are the two big negatives that people are really upset about:

    1) This is not going to be the same experience you had with the previous battlefront games 10 years ago. Quit simply, this game currently does not play like the previous ones did. There is no classic 'conquest' mode to it-while 'supremacy' is similar, the way its set up causes the game to not flow like the old battlefront did at all. There is no strategy really in terms of attacking-no flanking, nothing like that. In supremacy (which seems to be the mode most people play) at any one time there is at most 2 bases in play-they will be bases that are right next to each other, so there is a constant 'front line' effect (where everybody is fighting in the same spot), which essentially rules out any real tactics that would be involved. I think most people who were very excited for this game to come out were people who previously played this game and wanted it to essentially be like the older games with larger maps, more maps, and better graphics. You won't get that, this will be an overall different FPS experience. The air combat seems to be pretty bad. I prefer to run around and shoot as opposed to flying an x-wing or whatever, however even I noticed that the flying is pretty bad. I would also say that currently the game modes that involve 'heroes' are not so fun. For Battlefront 2, the Mos Eisley hero fight was epic fun. It's not quite the same on this.

    2) EA, in classic style, is trying to get as much money out of this as they can. In doing so, the game that is currently on the market is incomplete. That is the main reason this game is getting bad reviews. In a year this game will be a 9/10. However, the game that is currently on the market only has maps on 4 planets; Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and Sullust (a world thats important in the expanded universe of star wars but never in the movies). There are only currently 6 heroes-Luke, Vader, Leia, Jango Fett, the Emporer and Han Solo. When you consider that the previous game (which came out 10 years ago) had more hero options-thats quite annoying. There seems to be a lack of game modes, but again, the lack of game modes, heroes, and maps will all be resolved when more expansions come out. However, you will end up paying anywhere from $50-$80 for these expansions, which is bad and we as a gaming community should not support these practices.

While I've ranted a bit about the negatives, it's time for some good things about this game. The graphics are stunning. Probably the best I've seen in a FPS ever. Also, the gameplay is incredibly smooth. I've experienced no lag, no servers crashing, nothing of the sort, even once. I personally find the controls intuitive and once you get the hang of the style of this game, I find myself generally being one of the top 3-4 players each match, having an absolute blast jumping around in my jet pack, using my ion shots to blow up turrets or piss of people who are in vehicles. The game can be great, mindless fun. While I've read some reviews that rip on the upgrades and customization-I think those are actually pretty good. You have a dozen guns to choose from, you can purchase like 100 different outfits your character (depending on level), and they added an option where you can essentially have a special ability (For me I shoot ion bullets) which adds another element to the game completely. The maps that are there are good, which gives me faith that newer ones that come out will be good as well. You can also run around and pick up upgrades, which adds another element. You never know if that grenade that landed next to you is just a thermal detonator or thermal imploder, or whether you are being locked by a homing shot or an infantry turret.

If you will only be satisfied with this new Battlefront if it plays like the previous ones, I would say do not purchase. It will not be with your time or disappointment that this is a different game. I would also say that if money is an issue for you at all that I would wait a year or so to purchase. All of the expansions will probably be on a single disc that will be only $60 by then. However, if you have an open mind (sounds kinda lame I know), and simply love fun, first person shooters I say this is a decent purchase. You absolutely will enjoy playing this game, the graphics are stunning, the gameplay is incredibly smooth, the soundtrack is great, you will feel like you are in the world of star wars. However, shame on EA (or maybe us) for obviously using the Battlefront franchise to take as much money from people as possible. I think if they waited a little bit and released a complete version of this game, the sheer volume of people purchasing it would have given them more profit than the current state of people purchasing it, and then paying for upgrades.

There's no story mode, instead you have solo and co-op missions, which have no value after you've played once. Beyond that you have 9 online game modes, 7 of which are completely useless, and 4 maps at launch, which is just abysmal. At this point that $50 season pass (yes it's really $50) should be free. Free EA.

But this game is also missing the incredible moments you get from playing Battlefield. By the time you've played for 5 hours, you've already experienced everything that can happen, so there becomes less and less replay value as you go. Now I know what you're thinking: what about the heroes? I'd have to agree. Playing as the heroes, like Darth Vader, it looks awesome. This is probably the most unique thing about this game, but every time I finally get to play as a hero, the match is over within 45 seconds, like every DICE game ever.

    Verdict:
For a game in serious lack of variety, this is a huge oversight. Star Wars Battlefront is one of the most frustrating kinds of games. It's a concept with such huge potential that falls so flat upon release. It's shallow, it's dull, and you gotta pay $50 bucks to get more maps. I give this game a 4/10 in it's current state.

If you are a newbie, you need to work up the latter just like reality. When I played this with my boyfriend, for the first time, we fell asleep later that night and I startled him awake by yelling, " we need opposition forces NOW!!" Over and over. I never sleep talk, that is how much of an impact this game
made on me. It helps when you are playing on a high HD tv with incredible surround sound too.

Amazing graphics. Fun game modes. But if you want the game to remain fun, you shouldnt play the game to often. Everything about the game is good, its more the lack of heroes, weapons and maps that make me vote this game not higher than a 7.

For years I have enjoyed one of my favorite games of all time, Star Wars: Battlefront II. Even when the multiplayer was taken down, my friends and I would still load it up every now and then one the PS2 and play a galactic conquest. So when I heard they were making a new Battlefront, I was beyond thrilled. I knew they couldn't possibly mess it up because at the very least, all they had to do was give battlefront 2 new graphics and I would love it (obviously I expected more).

    They messed it up...

It's incredibly depressing to say that they gutted all the variety and ingenuity that made the original battlefronts so unique. What is left is a game with little variety, and lacking in content.

To start, there are no classes anymore. This would be alright if the blasters weren't so similar. There are currently 11 primary blaster, and many feel very similar. The main modes, walker assault and supremacy only have 5 maps. There is only empire era (episode 4-6). The new space battles take out all the things that made the space battles of battlefront II so great, to the point where it's not even worth playing them at all. The vehicles are very limited and rarely add much to a battle. Just, nothing feels unique anymore and is lacking any variety. Battlefront II, a game that came out 10 YEARS AGO, should not be the game with this much more variety and content. I could go on for hours comparing everything in this game and how battlefront II did it better, but it would take too much time to come full circle to what I have already said, the original battlefronts were better. What's even worse is EA/DICE already have announced their DLC WHICH COSTS 50$!?!?!?! If in some fantasy world, these DLC make the game an actual full game, that means I would be paying 110$. That's an atrocity.

The ONLY thing I can say about this game is that it has some of the best graphics I have ever seen. This might be the most visually impressive game ever created.

Overall, the new battlefront is incredibly depressing and not worth 60$. It's probably not even worth 30$ in its current state. Those who haven't played the, far superior, predecessors, you may get a solid 5 hours of enjoyment out of this. For those, like me, who have logged countless hours into the old games, you will most likely find yourself incredibly disappointed and probably a little dirty knowing you paid full price for this shell of a game

The gameplay is fast and high paced the player is encourage to use hip fire if your are playing first person(i mostly play 3rd person however i also play 1st person every now and then) making gameplay quite high paced. This is where it gets bad. There is obviously a lack of content the big one being no conquest game mode meaning that you are stuck with mostly small scale warfare the biggest being Walker Assault. And although it is a larger scale battle it still doesn't make up for the lack of an enormous Conquest battle which could have been amazing with the potential of modern tech.

I have noticed that many people are quite upset about the fact that there is not campaign tbh i am not that upset about the lack of a campaign being as the originals didn't really even have one to begin with it was really just matches against a computer and if you consider that a intriguing campaign then you should consider raising your standards. However that doesn't mean i wouldn't like the option to have a match against an ai so i am going to fault them on that, because the single player although fun to play with friends isn't really that intriguing after you play each one through a couple of times.(btw this game does have split screen so props to you dice)

A few misc complaints vehicle spawns at times can be very frustrating especially when i spawn directly in front of an enemy x wing. Also there is one very frustrating weapon called homing shot which enrages me to no end essentially it is a stinger missile for people. It is absolutely ridiculous to get killed over and over again by this weapon that requires absolutely no skill to use what's even worse is that even at full health it's an instant kill weapon.

Overall fun shooter mechanics and gorgeous visuals and sound quality however lack of conquest and lack of weapons make for and inferior game. I had a lot of hope for this game and in the end it left me kind of disappointed.

It was over hype, considering you got more stuff in the FREE demo, then expect you to pay 60 dollars for like 2 things AND a season pass, luck based systems and choppy gameplay, the only good thing about it is graphics and being in an once amazing series known as battle front. But like the toxin it is, EA ruined it

Once you learn a hero or a ship, it's fine.

Main reason for this review is to counter the people who are reviewing this game for what it is not. It does not have a story mode. If you want a story mode do not get this game. If you do not like playing online shooter games, do not get this game. It's amazing in my opinion for what it is, but obviously it's going to suck for what it is not. There is a local game mode, but it's minimal. I've had a good time with a buddy on split screen with a couple of the scenarios, but mainly this game is built for online shooter fans.

If you are a Star Wars fan. This game is fun. They did a good job of catering to the movies and creating the feel of the Star Wars world. There is something pretty awesome about walking out onto the battlefield as Darth Vader and using your light saber to deflect the enemy shots back at the enemies. Even for a short term novelty experience, I think this game is worth it.

The graphics are gorgeous, the game-play is fun, and the atmosphere of this game absorbs you into it and makes you feel apart of the Star Wars universe. There are 10 game-modes now because of the free DLC, and they are all very fun. There are a few single player missions that are fun with friends, and still kind of enjoyable alone. This game was made with Star Wars fans in mind, and only buy this is you are one.
The game may be lacking in content a little bit, and may become a bit repetitive thanks to the game-modes being to similar to each other, but overall as long as you allow yourself to be absorbed into the atmosphere, then this game will never get old.

    Lets get down to business:

Graphics- beautiful, and most importantly, looks like star wars. 9/10

ambiance- this maybe the best part of the game. The sounds and feels of the game are spectacular, and every time you hear the screech of a tie fighter or the zing of a blaster, you feel at home 9/10

game-play- wickedly fun, for the first few hours. The game-modes are repetitive and annoying at some times, but as long as you take small enough doses of this game you will always finding yourself coming back for more of the beauty and fun and fun of this game. The gun-play is fast and smooth, animations are flawless, and heroes and power-ups add a little more fun into each game-mode, but it still isn't enough at sometimes. 7/10

maps- Big and beautiful and full of nostalgia and star wars beauty. There may not be to many of them, but they all seem to give me the feels. 8/10

game-modes- ah, the game-modes. There are now 10 of them, but most of them feel the same. My favorites are probably walker assault and drop-zone, and basically all the rest are variations of those. It is disappointing because EA DICE could have made some really cool game-modes, but of course there is the DLC. Oh wait. its 50 dollars. 6/10

Customization- The star card system is interesting, but the idea of cards refreshing to be used again is hard to get right. there is a good amount of customizing with star cards, and allows for endless variations of cards. The emotes are cool, and there are many different facial customization to choose from too. Unfortunately, there aren't to many guns to choose from. 8/10

now for the final verdict. Star Wars battlefront is a good game, but not a great game. it exceeds in big pretty maps, nostalgia, and fun , fast game-play. Sadly, it falls due to repetitive, to similar game-modes and lack of content. Hey, this is the age that developers hold back content and sell it as DLC later, right? (I'm looking at you, Destiny.)

    overall: 7.5/10

The gameplay is great, it's fun, addicting, not too hard to learn, the heroes and villains are great and so are the ships (if you have trouble flying them, invert Y axis, it helps a lot) the music and sound effects are simply PERFECT and the graphics are fantastic, DICE really nailed the star wars aesthetic here. The multiplayer in Battlefront is great, the best modes are Supremacy, Walker Assault, Hero's vs Villains and Fighter squadron.

Now this game isn't perfect, it DESPERATELY NEEDS the capability to do split-screen while in online multiplayer, that would be fantastic. There isn't enough offline content, the ability to play the online modes while offline against bots would fix that. There needs to be MORE planets/maps and heroes, it's disappointing that we are getting them in an overpriced season pass.

Now, is this game worth it's price?? If you love star wars and want a fun shooter that feels like star wars the YESSSS this is worth it. If you don't / kind of like star wars then i would not recommend this, the star wars feel just wont be for you. YES the game needs more content, NO this is not a bad game. Just imaging what DICE could have done if they had an extra 6 month of development.......

These missions are boring at best, and mediocre at worst, and they honestly won't hold you for very long. But most people(sadly) don't care about a single-player campaign in this type of game, so how is the multiplayer? Well, the multiplayer is honestly, what's the word, BROKEN. If you go on the servers, expect glitches, overpowered weapons, annoying players, a surprisingly small amount of maps(seriously, there are only 4 REAL maps), and some of the worst customization I have ever seen. Slap on a ton of micro-transactions and a $60 price tag, and you get this failure of game, and I hope that most of these problems are fixed in the already confirmed sequel, but honestly, I doubt it. I really try to avoid the anti-EA circlejerk because it's usually so overplayed (not to mention everyone's pretty much on the same side of it, so it's not worth repeating), but after what they've done to the new Battlefront I don't think I'm willing to give them another chance.

I pre-ordered this game because I was a HUGE fan of the first two and the beta was fun, but the standard for fun on a free beta is a lot different than the standard on a $60 game. The beta was essentially a quarter of the full game, and the full game is essentially a quarter of a "full game." They've impressed me by offering more free maps—that's not something I normally would expect EA to do—but that still doesn't excuse them from releasing an unfinished game. And having the gall to announce a $50 DLC package before the original game even comes out is a scummy business practice, and one that really needs to die.

It's a massive step backwards from the last one, which really says a lot considering that one came out ten years ago.

Fun game. Unique gameplay and features. Incredible graphics and sound. However, not much content. Unless you LOVE Star Wars, it will get old fast due to lack of content

Controls are more like an arcade shooter, another watered down and half-baked mechanic to the game. Whats worse that the arcade-like controls is the flight controls, I dont know what they were thinking or if they even tested them because theyre just awful. You literally with break your arm trying to turn you TIE fighter 180 degrees.

No Classes and for that matter, no class. This game is in a league of its own, actually its in the same league as SWtoR... Come to think of it, why is EA even allowed to make SW games anymore, can we get a competent studio to make us SW games, have they not abused the IP enough yet?

Please don't buy this game. It represents everything that is wrong with the game industry. I've never felt so much regret after spending $60. Star Wars Battlefront has no content. It's Star Wars. It's blasters. It's X-Wings... Could it be better? Yep. Single player is basically nothing. Is it super fun to play none the less? Yes. Also, all the DLC coming out will make it worth it.

This game isn't for hardcore gamers, but it's probably the best FPS just to get yourself relaxed after another hard working day. The atmosphere of the first Star wars trilogy is really well copied and you really feel yourself like you are one of the rebels or imperials trooper.
This game isn't ideal, but you certainly should buy it if you are Star wars fan or just a man who is tired to play Battlefield and wants something more relaxing.

Regarding FPS multiplayer there was nothing like call of duty for me since Modern warfare, I tried battlefield, Halo, Destiny, those were all really good, but it was just a distraction. I never got to play any different mode that Team dead-mach and dead mach models, but In Battlefront the turning tide or pod drops are just great, really fitting my run and gun style while also adding some more stuff in the mix. So I will sum it up, it is not the perfect game but it might be the most intense fun Im having with game in 2015! Oh yea, I almost forgot, ITS STAR WARS :D Expand

I was a little apprehensive purchasing this game after playing the beta as it seemed repetitive. Since I needed a Star Wars "fix" I decided to buy the game. First off, I feel immersed in that game as soon as I put it on. The first thing I notice is how polished the game is. The atmosphere all around; the sound and graphics instantly has me engaged in the Star Wars universe. It is a bit simplistic as it seems to cater to a wide audience who may have never played an online FPS and are buying just because a new movie is coming out. Regardless, once I start playing, it's hard to put down. Not many other games in recent time does this happen. I have one gripe, which is not much for me, but may be a deal breaker for others, and that there is not a whole lot of variety at this time.... yet, I hope. Expand

This game lost all Star Wars stuff like the old Star Wars games had. They copy paste the engine and whole game and made some Gamemode changed and model and skin and the Skybox that's all in Battlefront 2 we could do more things.

It doesn't help that the free DLC they included, might as well have been part of the original game and no one would've batted an eye. Star Wars: Battlefront follows the trend of modern games that don't include a story campaign, and allows for consumers to unlock certain things sooner, for a fee. I think Dice is an awesome game developer, but it matters little who the game developer is, as long as a publisher like EA, Activison or Ubisoft dictates the amount of, and what kind of content they're allowed to make. Unfortunately the overall customization is lacking and so is single player content. The old Star Wars Battlefront games on the PS2 and Xbox had an amazing single player campaign that is missing entirely here which is a massive shame!

Another thing to note is that the season pass is an absolute rip off not worth the £40 price tag, especially when you have already paid £45 for the game itself. The content that will be released as DLC (mainly maps) should have been included in the original game right from the start.

Its great to venture into the Star Wars world but quite disappointing that the content out of the box is lacking.

The single player in Star Wars battlefront is actually pretty good, survival and battles are fun but they will hold your attention for about three hours, tops. Multiplayer is alright which is worrying considering that is the main meat. First off unless you're playing a more popular game mode you'll struggle to get into smaller ones which is a pain in the ass. But when you do find a match you're not going to have much fun, the way guns work is stupid since by the time you kill one person your guns overheated and his friend has killed you. This game is bargain bin fodder and as long as you don't have high expectations for the game you might salvage some enjoyment. Eh.

They had everything to make a good game but it seems that there is just money that matters to EA. $ 80 plus tax for a game that does not contain a single player or multiplayer and game mode are all the same, excluding dlc to 69$ so 150$ plus tax for a full game. This game is a shame for the players.

If DICE had just made this gorgeous game a skin for Battlefield 4 it would have been great.

Primarily, I think the lack of spawn point selection ruins Battlefront. The game might spawn you out in the middle of a field, or inside some tight corridor, but you'll have no idea until after you've selected your weapons, making even the minimal loudout ("hand") choices offered almost useless.

I've always loved the vehicles in Battlefield, where you can grab a tank, boat, or plane almost whenever you want. But with the Battlefront "powerup" system, you'll be lucky to see the inside of an AT-AT or AT-ST if you play Conquest/Supremacy mode for the whole weekend.

The game is also very disorienting, as you rarely know where the bad guys are. Spawn points flip around during the round, so half of them are in front of you and half behind you, and often, they'll start spawning all around you. There's rarely a clear "front line" for more than a short time.

The game doesn't balance teams well either. I've been stuck in 12 on 4 a number of times. I also added my friend in a party as a "partner" (still lamenting the lack of squads), and actually had it fail to make us partners when we joined a server.

Overall, this game is just run and gun chaos which gets boring quickly, and has none of the tactical play, weapon classes, or vehicles of Battlefield, a game which I returned to playing after a couple weeks of frustration in Battlefront.

It doesn't hold your attention for long periods and there is little reason to level up and keep playing. It's a by the numbers FPS. Nothing new, nothing special, nothing to set it apart. Guns feel like they have little variation and all have zero recoil. Maps are nice looking but don't have anything to make them memorable. Gun-play is pay to win because if you paid for the Special edition you unlock a one hit kill weapon that means players with very little skill can easily beat decent players with luck. Leading to frustrating situations.

Sound is great, graphics are great but there is little content, only a few game modes and a handful of maps mean you will feel ripped off paying full price for this game. Maybe get the full version in a year when it's cheaper, been patched and all map packs are out. Until then I wouldn't really waste paying 60.00 on this game.

It's not the most complex shooter, but it's the ideal pick-up-and-play experience for Star Wars fans. Stunning environments, solid shooting and immersive sound design mask the shortcomings. [Jan 2016, p.82]

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.

Spectacular production values help to make this game enjoyable in the early going, but it soon enough shows that it is painfully lacking in terms of maps and depth in its current form. [Issue#265, p.72]
