I got this game day one the graphics are amazing and i was expecting some intense star wars armosphere like JK2 or Kotor
But i am very dissapointed with what ea offers me here.

-ps plus req(otherwise its just a CD)
    -no singleplayer campaign
    -repetetive gameplay
    -Dlc! Wtf!? So expensive

+sold the game 3 days later and bought fallout 4

Star Wars Battlefront is, for all intents and purposes, an incredible piece of software. It looks, sounds, runs, and plays incredibly well on your preferred platform. And the online stability is something to be applauded after Battlefield's rocky history with multiplayer servers.

Where Battlefront fails to deliver is in content. What's in the game is incredibly highly polished and well made, but after only a few hours, I was already begging for more. Yes, I am a 'hardcore' gamer. Yes, I fall into the class of players that burns through content abnormally fast. But I am also a person that understands the difference between burning through content too fast, and there not being enough in the first place.

Thought there are 9 modes, and they each have something to offer, there are only 2 that people actually talk about and play. Fighter Squadron, and Walker Assault. Fighter Squadron might as well not have different maps, and Walker Assault only has four. These four maps are very well made and are massive, but after a couple hours, they just start looping.

The game offers some limited customization, but this does not offer as much variety as the Battlefield series or the pre-made classes in previous Battlefront games. Instead of filling a dynamic role on your team, you are just a dude with a gun, no matter what gun or other abilities you pick.

In a time where free-to-play or buy-to-play games with huge collections of content are increasingly common, a game as slim as Battlefront just doesn't cut it anymore. And the prices being charged for the all-but-required DLC are just plain insulting.

Those wanting a game reminiscent of the older Battlefront titles are going to be disappointed. Same for those looking for a content rich experience. However people just looking for some Star Wars fun can find an enjoyable experience here. They just have to be willing to put up with some less than satisfactory aspects.

There's no single-player campaign. There is single-player, offline content, but it all just boils down to bot matches and tutorials. There are some bonus objectives to tackle in these modes, but the only one really worth spending any time with is the survival mode. Unfortunately it too has some issues. For one there are only four maps. It also limits the mode to only two players. It's decent, but the AI isn't the greatest and honestly it lacks the punch survival modes have in other games.

But by far the most disappointing part of the meager single-player offerings are that they show potential for what could have been an at least decent campaign. DICE nailed the universe. This game really does feel like Star Wars. Thee graphics and sound are both stellar. Combine those elements with some sharper AI, a solid plot, and decent structure and there could have been a campaign worth talking about. Sadly there isn't.

With the offline content being so lackluster this is definitely a multiplayer focused game. Thankfully it mostly succeeds there. However the more picky out there will still find plenty of gripes. It isn't exactly bursting at the seams with content. More maps at launch would have been appreciated as would have some more modes. I personally view what's here as at the very least a decent amount of content. The real sting about this though comes from the $50 season pass. It's like EA wants us to pay almost double for a more complete experience. Kind of a low move.

Another potential issue comes from the gameplay itself. Star Wars is a huge property. One that has attracted fans from every walk of life. In order to make a game that is accessible to as many of these fans as possible, it has been dumbed down in some ways from your average shooter. Skill still trumps all, but no matter what your gaming experience you can still feel at least a little proud of yourself when matches end. It's not too bad. The only real issue I have with it is the lack of voice chat. Without it there really isn't any strategizing going on outside of party chat with your friends. Some modes could benefit from it.

Yet for all of Battlefront's issues I still find myself having fun with it. That's because it feels like Star Wars. Blasting my way through familiar locations, getting hero power ups, and playing fun modes like Walker Assault make it an enjoyable enough an experience to recommend for most Star Wars fans. Even with most of the modes just being standard to the average FPS, the Star Wars skin keeps me entertained. Perhaps it's better off as a rental at first, but I think Star Wars fans just looking for some multiplayer fun are going to find something to enjoy here regardless of faults.

    I give the game a 7.5/10

It's fun sure, I love it. But the game frustrates me more than it gives me enjoyment. Broken spawns, unbalanced.. everything, one-sided game modes like fighter squadron and walker assault. Without a doubt, the fact that they released this game without a campaign was a very poor decision. I mean, this is Star Wars. It screams for a story. Second is character progression. There is no weapon customization, there are limited weapons, and there is no building up a weapon. You could use the same weapon for over 10,000 kills and it will be the same gun you used for kill 1. No weapon progression. I like the star card aspect, it allows some customization depending on how you like to play. Im glad they are releasing a free DLC but they really had no choice. The game needs more for $60. Expand

Then I actually sat down and played, at first I was like this blows but i'll give it a shot. Now I release this isn't remotely close to the last two previous installments and they cut out logical key points in this game. For one in order to get inside a vehicle you don' go find a vehicle like in the last two. You hover over a magical token and then get transported to a whole other location inside the vehicle matching the token. Each vehicle can be destroyed in short of 5 hits (unless your in an aircraft then its two) This game ignores balancing weapons. A pistol can kill you in o shots in which a long range rifle takes several shots to accomplish. There is no story mode just a confusing battle of 40 players. No strategy involved just run up to a enemy and start tossing grenades. The number one thing that makes me uppset is there is no scaling system, no good players fight good players it is just a random slotted game to where new players could be pitted against seemingly maxed level players who just dominate. I have been on boh sides of that were the score can be 15-100 or 100-45. The re spawn system, is utter crap you spawn behind the enemy lines and flank the entire team adding the factor that your allies can spawn on you (which is bs) they erased the Control point spawns and choosing what CP you wish to spawn at. The terrain is difficult to tread over as many points in the game take several tries to jump over a simple log. When throwing any type of grenade if you are killed your grenade ceases to exist. It should at lease drop to the ground but if killed the game doesn't registering even thrown it. You can unlock every weapon in a span of one week and thats for an average gamer. There is no extended content just multiplayer scenarios that were thrown into the mix. I gave this game a 0 on the rating yes this game is fun (for about 4 hours) the graphics are amazing and the infantry controls are pleasing to play but it appalled me of how they created a bull S&it game and tried to cover it up with good graphics a amazing marketing promotion. The man who was in charge of there marketing division should get a promotion because with out him many people would not have even bought this game in the first place. I have so SO much more to talk about but this just gets me angrier and angrier thinking about it. My copy goes back today. Expand

    Ahh... Battlefront...I missed you...

The third game in the series is great! Not perfect, but great. So let's get this going. The game has nine gamemodes, enough for someone like me who is playing only 6 of them. Multiplayer is really good and sometimes actually challenging... but there are times when the game is just to easy, once you get the best weapon, you are unstoppable.

Supremacy: It's basiclly conquest mode from Battlefield 4, it's a 20vs20 game mode where players need to capture 5 "flags" (as I like to call them) and they can use pretty much every vechicle in the game. My favorite gamemode.

Cargo: Cargo is a smaller Supremacy mode with cargo boxes instead of "flags". I don't like it that much.

Droid Run: 6vs6 match where players need to capture three GNK Power Droids. Do I need to say more?

Walker Assault: 40vs40 match where Rebels need to destroy AT-AT's and Imperials need to defend them. The mode is really unbalanced and I would not recommend playing it (as a Rebel at least).

Blast: Classic 10vs10 deathmatch. Nothing to add really.

Drop Zone: Escape pods are crashing into the planet and you need to capture them. Propably one of my favorite gamemodes.

Heroes Vs Villains: Like the title says, Heroes (Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo) Vs Villains (Darth Vader, The Emperor and Boba Fett). Overall it's a fun mode and can be really frustrating when playing as some of the characters (Especially Leia, Han Solo and Boba Fett) but it's still a very good gamemode and would recommend to play it.

Hero Hunt: 7 Rebels/Imperials vs 1 Hero/Villain. Your objective is to kill the Special Character and when you do so you turn into him and have to kill others, simple as that.

Gameplay: So the game is simple, you shoot with blasters and sometimes can get into a vechicle or become a Special Character. The gameplay is really solid and is a lot of fun, I played this game for 40h and i'm still not bored of it! It's a really simple shooter that even casuals can play. Unfortunatly some modes (Walker Assault) are really unbalanced and need to be fixed. But still, no matter what the gameplay is great.

Singleplayer: So this game doesn't really have a campaign. BUT! it has survival modes that you can play alone, or even with a friend in the same room (Which is a rare thing these days). Survival modes are repetetive and the main objective is basiclly to survive 15 waves. I don't like it and it's boring, even with friends. But there is also Hero Battles which you can play alone, or again with a friend in the same room. It's basiclly Heroes Vs Villains but two players only. I love it and spent 5h just in this mode.

Multiplayer: I talked about it already, it's great and I love it.

DLC: I didn't want to talk about it but you really need to know this if you haven't watched reviews. Game is lacking content, modes are rehashed and not original. Developers (DICE) said they would bring the rest of the content in a DLC, here's the problem. The season pass costs 50$, is it worth the price? We will see. One thing I respect though is how DICE WILL give out free DLC, actually they announced one free map for december already! I can't be mad but 50$ is a little too much in my honest opinion.

Conclusion: The game is great but has many, maany flaws. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. It's great and I have tons of fun in it. Althrough it's worse than the previous Battlefronts, I still like it and I will propably play it all the time. 7/10 (No, It's not a bad score, it's above average)

It is a fantastic game! Personally I loved the game, I know that there is much dissatisfaction with previous titles due to the lack of singleplayer campaign, but still I was looking for a multiplayer since I am not a CoD fan.

The ability to switch from first to third person is a breakthrough, if not the small fact that you can actually switch from one shoulder to the other, amazing.

The ability to switch from first to third person is a breakthrough, if not the small fact that you can actually switch from one shoulder to the other, amazing.

Generally, multiplayer modes are great fun, I personally enjoy the 12 or 20 players ones, 40 players modes are a bit chaotic, that the impression I got. It is a game that is much more enjoyable played with friends or your PSN clan, because if you go solo and you face a coordinated team, I asure you that you'll suffer a lot! And seeing that your team does not focus on the objectives doesn't help at all, and Battlefront is purely focused on conquering the objectives. I have come to see matches where the max killer ended the game with 81 kills and his team still lost.

I would try to change and make easier most vehicles controls, since in some maps it's very complicated to handle.

As for the gameplay vs IA, it's just boring, that's for sure, but when you play with ppl is much more fun, especially when you try to complete the Master mode and 5 stars difficulty, is a worthy challenge that require coordination with your team and skill.

I've spent tons of hours playing Destiny and I'm immensely grateful for the rise up to 60fps (Destiny has 30fps), the gameis much more fluid. And what about the graphics? It is the strong point of this game, simply stunning.

One point that I would have strengthened to please the series fans (personally I'm not a Star Wars fan myself), would had been to put more background, both online and multiplayer versus AI.

As I said, for me it was one of the best multiplayer of the year and I'm enjoying it very much.

    See you ppl!

Another long review about a game that had big potential but EA f*** it up !

If you buy this game just right after launch, it basically means that you buy access into an early access of the game because it is not finished, and EA still dare to ask us 60 bucks for it !
Before launch they already confirmed that they will have 4 DLC's in the future, which are not actual DLC's, but part of the main game they just striped that will be soled separately. Just to milk the gamers of all their money !

They stripped everything that they could, to leave as little as possible so the players don't think they have been cheated, ask 60 bucks for it and sell the rest for even more profit. The game with all DLC's should be game they initially released for 60 bucks, but by that time you already payed easily over $110 ! I feel cheated and makes me never to buy anything again from EA. They basically doubled the price of their games very sneaky and most of the people just fail to see this and just want to complete their collection. It's not a collection ! It's the initial game that's striped down and they sell it back to you piece by piece. Nothing else.

This is very noticeable here in Battlefront ! How you might ask ? Well, here's why.
They say that they have so many planets and locations and modes to choose from to play. Well, that's wrong and overinflated ****

First off, the modes are basically standard for a game like this. One mode that is basically a trademark for this franchise is the walker assault that is not found in any other game. In rest, name a mode from any other game and you'll find it in battlefront. This is actually not a bad thing, but it's not very innovative because the only mode they have extra is basically Supremacy on the move.

And now to planets and locations. For each mode they have a different location, one on each planet. The problem is there are only 4 planets ! the planets are: Endor, Hoth, Sullust and Tattooine !
You will get bored very fast of only those 4 planets and craving for more different locations. They are pleasing to the eye and the graphics are good, even one of the best looking game this year, but it is just not enough to overlook the fact that this is not enough. They have just tried it to hard. The maps are very polished, no visual artifacts or major bugs, but this is to such an extend that they have put way to much time into those 4 planets that it does not matter anymore how polished they are. In the time they polished this 4 planets they could have used it to just add another two planets. This would have been much more worth than to just have 4. It gets very fast, very repetitive, and after just 2 or 3 days of playing i'm forcing myself to enter the game just to play it, just so i won't regret paying 60 buck for this game. I'm literally only playing just to get my money worth out of it until i'm sick playing it. This is not good for a game.

Now, to be fair, for each planet and mode there are different maps. There are about 3 maps for each planet for the different game modes. The problem is that although the map layout is different from one to another, they feel very similar altogether, and this is a bad thing. The most diverse locations are actually the interior of buildings.

We expected certain elements from a Battlefront game, and what we got just isn't enough to recommend to any Star Wars fan. I just tell them to go back to Battlefront 2 cause with that game they will have much more fun than with this one.

And now my biggest complain of this review, would be the fact the it is just a Battlefield game beneath it.
I have Battlefield and all those kind of shooter, and hoped they would not go that path, but they did.

I'm a gamer, but i don't play a lot of shooters. And if i do, i do it for the story or for the fun of it. If it has a 3rd person camera i'm more likely to play it.
But i'm also a very big Star Wars fan, and at each step of my life i had a SW game beside me to play it, from the early 90's.
So the first thing i wanted to do is jump right in a game and play with Darth Vader ... but wait ... whaaaaaat ?

So i can't select my factions, they distribute you to a random faction in each game, but to alternate you from each game. Why ? Just please tell me **** WHY !??? I'm imperial for life and the very first game i enter i'm a rebel scum ?! My first impression was that this was just ridiculous. I know that this was done to keep a balance, but at least give me chance to switch sides if the other team lacks people just like in counter strike ... but no ... i'm forced to play as this team. And don't you dare to leave this game, cause you didn't finish your rebel duties so they'll put you again as a rebel the next game.

Wow, 5000 characters ain't enough for me to say what i want. In the end, don't buy the game. If you did, ask for a refund !

The awful thing about this game is the Season Pass, which is a big ripoff, and I'm generously pissed about it, but as long as I enjoy the game as much as I do now, I don't mind that.

This game is a huge disappointment as I was so excited to get this title.

It's best described as a "showbag", looks good on the outside but is full of cr@p.

It's also worth mentioning that the game works flawlessly. I've played for 12 hours now and only encountered one small display related bug. This is not trivial in this day and age where most of the games hit the shelves half broken or worse...

There is however one big miss, and that's the lack of content in the base game. With merely 4 maps per multiplayer mode (5 when the free Battle of Jakku DLC drops), playing the same mode for a long time will quickly get old. As as the multiplayer matches don't last very long, one rotation doesn't take that long.

DLC will make up for that over time, but most of that will be paid DLC. And it's yet to be seen how many players will actually buy this, as the season pass is reported to come with a pricetag of a complete game.
So the question remains whether with all the DLC content, you'd have full servers to play on...
This also beg the question how EA/Dice will handle the servers post-DLC. As there are no custom servers, the players will entirely depend on EA or Dice to give them populated servers with a proper map rotation.

    Summary:
+ Authentic Star Wars look and feel
    + Fun and addicting
+ Graphics that make any other PS4 title look bad

    - Lack of content in the base game
    - Overpriced DLC scheme
    - No custom servers
    - No single player campaign (there are single player/coop missions where you fight waves of enemies, but not even worth the mention in my opinion)

The maps are straightforward with enough complexity.

The spawns can be unfair sometimes, but nowhere as bad as Ghosts, or Advanced Warfare.

Walker Assault and Supremacy offer a big war ambient people know and love from Battlefield games.

One major gripe I have with this game is that there are only few maps for each game mode.

This new policy consists on raising the price of a game to 110-120 bucks, by splitting its content into different parts and selling the first one AT FULL PRICE; and the rest will be paid via downloadable content. This is, in my opinion, an insult to the sensible customer.

Customers should avoid buying this, if they do not agree with this kind of policy. Just like Microsoft took a step back with the prohibition of 2nd hand games when they saw the huge rejection of the public, game developers and publishers could do the same.

To sum up: The game has absolutely no content. Regardless of how many DLCs are released for this game, the original price is not worth paying at all, for what it has to offer. We are again victims of the hype.

For the games price you dont really get that much content that you hoped for and you hit a blind spot in the game really fast because of that, but if you want alot more of content then you have to buy a season pass which sadly is really expensive and costs nearly as much as the game itself which is a total turn-off. The expensive season pass does sure have some great content, but it isnt worth the price, I really want it but I dont want to pay the games price over again just to get that more content so I will just stick to the game as it is, enjoy it and wait for the season pass to lower in price which I hope it does.
One thing EA could have done was to add the content in the game and take a little bit more for the game, I think that would make the game more attractive.

Conclusion: It's a good game, really amazing graphics, but a real rip-off of a season pass and that's why it ends up on a 6 score.
Sorry EA, but you cant take that much for a season pass compared to what other game developers take for their games season passes, it makes EA feel so money greedy.

I'm genuinely torn about this game. I have always liked Battlefield since its inception so giving me a Battlefield style game wrapped with Star Wars was guaranteed to make both my Battlefield and Star Wars inner fanboy happy. By and large, I do enjoy the game, even the run-and-gun nature of the ground combat because, honestly, that frenetic pace is consistent with the Star Wars universe (see: Hoth in ESB, Endor in RotJ).

That said, however, it's certainly NOT a *Battlefront* game. It's nothing like the former Battlefront titles and despite the amount of multiplayer modes presented it feels shallow. No decent single player function outside of a handful of really boring missions with only a handful of AI populating the large maps and no story mode. The game really sticks to the Original Trilogy timeline which is OK to a point but really limits overall locations they could use. I'm not a huge fan of the prequel trilogy but I can't help but think it would have been somewhat amazing to have Clone Wars locations or even the whole Geonosis/Hunt for Count Dooku battle. The cynic in me thinks these things might yet make an appearance... if one is willing to dish out the money for the season pass.

I've also noticed the game is particularly buggy and frequently laggy. Hit detection is off significantly at times, especially with vehicle combat. You can replicate this issue frequently by doing the Snowspeeder training on Hoth: The AT-STs randomly ignore blaster fire even when the game registers a hit on the UI reticule. I can live with this to an extent because of the run and gun nature of some of the modes but it tends to ruin the larger modes that include both vehicles and heroes.

There is one thing I am NOT torn about and that is the fact that the dogfighting mode, Fighter Squadron, is absolute garbage. DICE had the opportunity to pick up the baton that was dropped by LucasArts following the ancient X-Wing Alliance but what was delivered is a sluggish, bland, aerial fighting game. The mode doesn't even take place in space, which I can't understand since it would have taken less effort to populate a three dimensional spacescape than the current terrain being used. The differences between TIE, TIE Interceptor, X-Wing, and A-Wing are nominal, at best all but defeating the purpose. The shields granted to the rebel ships effectively double their health and make it nigh impossible to destroy them even with a barrage of ion torpedoes and blaster fire from the TIEs. And it is THIS mode where the hit detection and lag problems are at their worst as you can often unload your weapons into an enemy ship only for it to register zero damage or you may be tracking down a ship only for it to magically warp a hundred (game) meters behind you where it's now locking onto you instead. I was genuinely excited for this mode and I really don't want to play it anymore until they rebalance the ships, their perks, and add some extra control sensitivity options for flying vehicles separately.

Ultimately, I feel like this is too shallow of a game to give a great score to. It's fun to pop in and play a few ground combat rounds but that's it. Even though the Battlefield and Star Wars parts of me enjoys playing, I feel like this could have been so much more than it was. Alas, I sit here waiting for a true successor to Battlefront, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter/X-Wing Alliance, and Jedi Knight. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I'm going to be waiting a long, long time.

I'm sorry but no. Star Wars Battlefront is not unbalanced at all, the only reason why it may seem that way sometimes is in walker assault when you're in a group with a bunch of people who don't know what a **** objective is. I've played every game mode, and I can safely say that Walker Assault is NOT unbalanced. It is probably one of the best game modes.

For a good reason people want a campaign, yeh I get it, a campaign would be awesome but overall the multiplayer is what I play battlefront for. I know this may sound like I'm being biased towards one side of an argument... well yes I am, I am one person, I have one opinion because I am one person. I know it would be great if I could be multiple people and see things from every aspect, but I don't.... Let me put it like this.. It's my opinion, not factual.

People are constantly giving Fighter Squadron a hard time saying it's terrible... From what I've seen in gameplay, a lot of people don't know you can hold down LT (Left Trigger) and it helps you aim.. Seriously a lot of people aren't picking this up. Fighter Squadron, for me personally, is my favourite part of the game. I love the space battles as they look and feel so much like star wars, (in third person) while fighting in an x-wing over tatooine and destroying a tie fighter, I felt like I was in Star Wars episode 7. That shot where the X-Wing destroys the Tie-Fighter in that trailer, looks so much like this game. I love it.

Overall I love the combat, an area i felt kind of lacking was the heroes and villains. They're fun to be sometimes but there are some modes I wont be playing, e.g. hero hunt and Heroes VS Villains, I don't really enjoy being a hero fighting villains, I would rather just be a hero slashing up other people, that's why I detract from Heroes VS Villains and I don't like Hero Hunt as I become a hero/villain so much it gets kind of boring. However I really like the other game modes, the ones I play most of are: Supremacy, Blast, Walker Assault, Cargo and Fighter Squadron, as they are the ones I really like. The other 2, Droid Run and Drop Zone, are okay I guess, not my favourite but still pretty good.

Overall Battlefront is fantastic, sure there are a few things i dislike, the fact that there's a few weak game modes, I would like a story mode, despite the reason I don't play it for battlefront and I dislike the season pass BS. overall I think it's a great game, solid fun and I've had a great time on it overall.

I am a bit spoiled with all the stuff I've done with my SLI GTX980TI rig, and the modding in games like Skyrim, but I give this game a +2 on graphics out of a possible 3.

Sound: Very close to the Starwars experience. Overall very solid. Again you can tell this team are Star Wars fans. +2

Solo play: Terrible... it's shallow, and not worth doing. You can tell they made this game for Online play only and the Solo-play was an afterthought they had to tick off the checklist. A strong Solo-game is essential to building a game brand. To give a person a haven to go and enjoy a deep story that Muli-player just cannot do. Score here -3

Multiplayer: It's pretty good. Fun but shallow. There isn't enough content to drive me to want to play this game over other titles once the novelty wears off. Score +1

Game Content: REALLY pathetic. You can tell they made a full game. Took a bunch of the content per EA's request and held it back to sell to gamers later. It's blatantly obvious.... It's like getting spat in the face by EA.... They are thinking "Star Wars fans will pay anything we want them to.... lets charge them a **** The game really falls short here. Score -3

Seasons Pass: Again EA is a greedy son of a #$!@ here... $50 for content that is already made, more than likely, that they are withholding because they think Star Wars fans will easily part with their money with the upcoming movie hype. This is LOW... marketing killing a game exemplified. I have to give this a -4... This is cause enough for me to not buy any DLC and to put this game on the shelf and trade it in, while it's value is high, for another game.

This Takes me to my overall score. Starting with 10+2+2-3+1-3-4 = a Score of 5/10

I think a 5/10 is proper for this game, as the corporate greed aspect and lack of attention to solo-play really justifies a score between 4 and 5... I was generous with giving it a 5.

This is not the most in depth shooter out there but it is just straight up fun. Fighter squadron mode is exactly what i've been waiting for and its a blast. If you are a fan of chaotic shooters and want to have a great time then you will love this game.

I think the game is getting criticized too harshly, definitely doesn't deserve the 0 or 1 scores.

    Awesome game here is why:

Okay, so there are a bunch of people hating on this game. I'm a casual first person shooter and this game is geared towards my crowd. Yes, it doesn't have the content that you can get in other games. Yes, it doesn't have a single player campaign. Yes, it doesn't have a robust unlock system like other games. Now, that is out of the way lets get started.

I like Star Wars and this game offers everything a Star Wars fan wants. You have some tutorial missions you can run, some coop missions you can run, survival mode you can run, and the multiplayer. The game is a fun game to pick and play a couple of matches online. It doesn't take you that much time to run thru the online multiplayer matches so your not going to be sitting in front of the TV all the time. In a hour you can run two walker assault matches and one droid run match. Quick and easy. If your looking for a game that has all the fixings like Battlefield 4 or Call of Duty stay away. If you looking for a quick and fun Star Wars experience get it.

    - 900p is not acceptable for current standards.
    - lacks content. Where are the space battles, all those iconic planets from the saga, the bots in multiplayer, the campaign, etc???
    - I'm not a fan of this new item based way to get vehicles. It's alot more immersive to have the ability to enter an hangar and jump to a vehicle. DICE have been doing this for years in Battlefield games, so why the step back?!

All in all, and while it's far from perfect, SW Battlefront is an excelent experience for all Star Wars fans.

It's fun, it's fast paced action and I honestly don't see how all these players are complaining about EA/DICE cashing while games like Destiny have a similar approach but where the game is far less enjoyable and graphically satisfying than Battlefront.

There is a lot of hate on here for this game but I'm here to tell you that 90% of it is nonsense. This is a good game. It has it's flaws but I have had a lot of fun with it already.

    Positives:

Graphics and Sound - Just... wow! So true to the original films and so immersive. Voice acting of heroes isn't great but you seldom play as them and get over it pretty quick.

Gameplay - Arcade-style (no ADS) shooter but it works well and fits with the way previous Battlefronts played. Grenades aren't TOO spammy and things like the homing missile which could be game-breakingly OP have been tuned well and if you're by cover you can avoid them.

Flying - This is not a flight simulator and the controls are relatively basic, but again, they work well and there is definitely a huge difference between skilled and new pilots. I am still learning new ways to shake of determined pursuers. If you can achieve air superiority in walker assault you can have a massive influence on the game. Strafing runs on ground targets can be absolutely devastating and really fun!

Game modes - Walker Assault and Supremacy are the main ones but I disagree that other modes are redundant. I've had a lot of fun with Fighter Squadron and Blast (TDM) so far and am yet to try Droid run or Drop Zone.

Accessibility/Skill Cap - You can pick up this game and learn the basics in no time making it great fun and very accessible. Equally, the difference between a skilled player and novice one is sizable. Especially in air combat! If you're skilled you can have a sizable influence on the outcome of a game by playing the objectives properly. I think the people who don't enjoy this game are the people who try to play it like cod and sneak round the side and try to just rake in kills. In a 40v40 game with accessible controls and vehicles, someone is definitely going to kill you if you try that and you wont be going on many mad kill streaks that way.

    Negatives:

Content Quantity - everyone has massively over-stated this but in fairness, I do think they're about 2 planets short of a sufficiently large game to warrant the price tag. The Battle of Jakku will be free when it comes out in Dec so really, they're only one planet short which is forgivable.

Weapon Design - Blasters handle quite bizarrely at long range. Some are technically accurate (i.e. a small spread) but often the lasers don't seem to be going where you expect and it takes some mental adjustment. Equally, a fully-auto blaster can hit and quickly kill you from absolutely miles away if shot right and can make for some somewhat frustrating long-range stand-offs and really random deaths at times. The actual sniper rifle star card is reasonably challenging to use and should be the main method of sniping at range, I think blasters should be significantly tuned-down at longer ranges. Also turrets and vehicles like the AT-ST handle very strangely. Often find myself needing to aim much higher than the crosshairs would make you believe in order to shoot where I want to. Needs some patching but not game-breaking in any way.

Team Balancing - the teams in a lobby will stay the same game after game (and you alternate between Rebel and Imperial each match. This is fine most of the time but occasionally you will get a very unbalanced lobby with one very dominant team which remains the same game after game. You can just leave the lobby but it's not ideal. The partner system seems to prevent massive premades though so that helps a bit.

All in all, this is a great game and I actually enjoy playing this with a friend more than CoD (although cod edges it out for solo-queuing as I love hardcore mode). It certainly has it's place in my collection along side Black Ops 3 and Fallout 4 for this winter and with a few adjustments could be a top-notch multiplayer game.

The game is not comparable to the earlier battlefronts as many are doing. This is a reboot in a new decade with new players and new engines. The only large thing the game suffers from is a lack of content. NOT A HUGE LACK but a lack. There should be more maps for the larger, more enjoyable game modes like walker assault, and more original and fitting customization for the imperials. Overall i think this will end up as DLC making this game a 8 instead of a 9. But we do have the free Jakku DLC to look forward to very soon. The maps, the weapons and the character models are all made with an amazing attention to detail. The hero voices are pretty bad, but other than that DICE has really nailed it.

But they did not only nail the visuals and sound. The game also FEELS like Star Wars. Time to kill is relatively high, ammo is unlimited and most weapons are fairly inaccurate. So lasers are flying everywhere, all the time, hitting stuff. Those lasers aren't just from small arms off course. AT AT's, AT ST's, Laser turrets and Aircraft are also blasting away. Not to mention the orbital strike, and if you look up you might even see a battle going on in space. It is epic and it is Star Wars. If you like Star Wars, you need to play this game. Period.

PS: People are complaining about a lack of content. What you get is an online shooter with 13 maps(4 of which are massive), several cool game modes and single player missions. That isn't bad at all.

I could go on but you see where I'm going with this.
It utterly disappoints as a Battlefront game.
Especially compared to what Free Radical had envisioned for the franchise.

The game's graphics and sounds are amazing but they won't keep players interested for long.
EA will try to keep this game alive through DLCs.

Battlefront veterans have been waiting 7+ years on a sequel to the franchise.
    Then we get this.

So for a Battlefront game I can only give this game 0/10 points.

As a shooter it's slightly better, but still far from being worth the 120 bucks for the full game.
Especially compared to games like Battlefield or Counter Strike.

If you have a lot of money to spare, don't care about the degradation of the gaming industry if you support and buy this game, only play 1-2 hours in two weeks, then buying it might be an option.

For everyone else I recommend avoiding this game either until the price has dropped immensely, or not buying it at all.

Only 4 planets and all the maps they claim they have feel and look the same. This game might have been a lot better had they included the Clone Wars and space battle but in it's current state I can't recommend it. For something that has been made by the makers of battlefield 3/4 etc this is no where near in gameplay. Weapons are all just point and spray/ very little burst needed only on long ranges, this game has nothing after a few hours for any serious gamer as it's far to easy, and if you have some skills as an FPS player you will find this a turkey shoot, so no real challenge. You can easily lvl once/twice each time you play one map, unlocks make no real difference.

Over priced, severely lacking in content, already traded in, completely disappointed as I'm a big fan of battlefield.

Extremely casual, thats fine to me. Who says the guns have no recoil & variety... its utter bs. The feel, sound, recoil, speed, damage every single hit is different. Pick your apple as theres so much to choose from.

Its very nice game indeed. I chalked BO3 for this as BO3 im a punching bag but this atleast a **** shooter player like me have a chance to be top 3 player few times per day. Not bad at all.
As long as the community is packed, shall support Battlefront till they bring the server down permanently.

I love it for its FUN factor. 20vs20 nothing beats that. Gonna get all its dlc too. Jakku here i come.

Okay now that we have that out of the way, for the review. I put in Star Wars Battlefront, played a survival and battle two of the four maps (YES, a WHOPPING FOUR), and then had to spend the next 20 mins wiping the **** out of the disc drive so I could play something that actually resembled a game. No doubt, the rest of the galaxy that we saw in the amazing games that preceded this one in the series will be available for purchase as DLC in a money-grab by Emperor EA. Darth DICE clearly looked at the original games of the series, said "Okay, this is really cool" and then proceeded to model the game after the aftermath of their next meal at Chipotle. I might have ditched my girlfriend to play this game, but at least I'm still getting screwed by EA.

I just kept going through the menu's trying to find where the game was, but clearly EA and DICE forgot to put it on the disc. Oh well, at least they have their money, clearly that's all this game was about anyway. I had to think for a moment whether I had to check the box on this review to have a spoiler warning, but honestly there is absolutely no content in the game to be spoiled.

It's sad that this game may be considered successful because EA and DICE pulled the wool over the fanbase's collective eyes and we all had to buy it to find out how crappy it is. We expected Luke Skywalker, and we got Jar Jar Binks. If you want to play Battlefront, break out the PS2, because this game is not Battlefront. Time to get back to Fallout 4, or literally anything else.

Yes, it's an eight. Because a review of a video game should be based on the merits of it...not based on what you wanted it to be. The vast majority of negative reviews, by journalist and gamers, talk about what the game lacks. Now yes, DICE and EA put the Battlefront franchise tag on this game, which is just asking for trouble. But they have also asserted that this game was madeYes, it's an eight. Because a review of a video game should be based on the merits of it...not based on what you wanted it to be. The vast majority of negative reviews, by journalist and gamers, talk about what the game lacks. Now yes, DICE and EA put the Battlefront franchise tag on this game, which is just asking for trouble. But they have also asserted that this game was made predominantly for Star Wars fans. So in trying to please as much as possible both camps, Star Wars fans who may have never played FPS games like COD, Battlefield/Front, Destiny, CS:GO, etc. and those hard core FPS folks who can shoot a pebble off a stormtrooper's helmet @ 100 yds.

But the game is what it is, so let's address these negatives that have been voiced and I'll dismiss them one by one:

Lack of variety in terms of characters and weapons and vehicles. This is a silly remark, because it's Star Wars. So, no...there aren't any orcs or bows and arrows or motorcycles or combat knives. In fact, DICE has done a wonderful job pushing the envelope to actually create variety that really isn't in the Star Wars movie library. Yes, the expanded universe has a lot more going on, but about half of the weapons in the game were created from whole cloth by DICE to give just as much variety as possible. So no, you can't say a Halo game is shallow because don't ride a horse in it.

Next is the lack of a solo campaign. This is a game featuring multiplayer combat, but it's not just that...there is plenty of solo content as well. But again, that's not the focus of the game, that you're playing a one-person Star Wars adventure game. You're complaining about something. So next time you play Tetris, please don't complain about the lack of RPG elements.

Variety of missions...not counting the training missions there's 21 of them. So be quiet.

There isn't any content missing here. It is what it is. It's a Star Wars combat game, that is the most faithful, true Star Wars game EVER made. If you're looking for something else, then go play that and give that game a review based on what that type of game is supposed to deliver, but don't give this game RED scores because it's not the game you would have made.

So why don't I give this more than an 8? Well, there are times the game isn't fun. Being sniped by someone you never saw gets old fast. There are too many power ups that are overpowered, given that you can after a few ranks have your own arsenal with you. Getting plastered by proximity mines and other things over and over makes the combat low on the actual skill side and more on winning the power up lottery. I'd replace a lot of the weapon power ups with recharge pick ups.

The fighter combat is underdeveloped, giving artificial restraints on when you can do evasive maneuvers or when you can shoot a missile and the range of speed the fighters have is very limited, and doing it in cockpit mode is just suicide, in my opinion. In Walker Assault, air supremacy, especially when you're the Rebels is a big key to winning, and air combat is very hit and miss.

So there are some parts of what the game actually is that has me frustrated given how it could have been done better, but again, I think when you try to please everyone, well, you know the rest.

But no...this isn't a poor game that deserves a bad score, it is a labor of love, that yeah...maybe could have used a few more months of work and maybe some more content on release, but it was clearly scheduled to be released prior to holiday gift buying season and before a certain movie comes out on Dec 18.

So next time, DICE/EA....call the game Star Wars Wars and the Battlefront/COD fanboys won't drive down your metacritic score.

And for you FPS snobs out there...the dark side leads to suffering, yo.

The shooting in the game is solid, the hero's and villains are a nice touch, even though there is only 3 on each side at the moment. That's where the positives of this game ends, there is no real single player experience, ie campaign. What you have are Training, Battle and Survival. Training is a series of tasks which prepare you for the Multiplayer. Battle is just a mini game of battles where you play as Darth Vader defending the base against incoming rebels. Its repetitive and there are similar battle scenarios with other characters, etc. Survival simply makes you face waves of incoming enemies, the standard we have seen in other games like Call Of Duty. The Multiplayer feels in-between Battlefield and MAG online. Its very repetitive and lacks depth, but it can be fun for a small period of time through one sitting.

To conclude, while Star Wars Battlefront is not a good game, its neither a bad game, its ok. Its a game for someone who really likes battlefield and is a massive fan of Stars Wars. However, I strongly recommend waiting until it hits bargain bin price. You will get bored of this game in two play throughs, its not worth the current asking price.

The Multiplayer itself lacks any depth, the leveling system is a poor hook to entice you to play more.

As a fan of the Star Wars: Battlefront series loved aspects such as the Campaign story from Battlefront 2.
The 501st story was a brilliant addition to the solid foundation that Battlefront set before it. Conquest mode was an exemplar of what a non-story based game mode should have been.

However if you were looking for even a semblance of these fan favourite game modes within the newest incarnation you will be sorely disappointed.

I know I am probably in the minority when I say this, but I’m not really big on online multiplayer, which is something this game almost completely relies on. It has no single player story, just a couple different modes that aren’t all that fun and take about only an hour to complete. The computer A.I. is a little off and it is never as fun as playing online. I would have liked to see a story unfold full of my favorite Star Wars characters, such as the one in Disney Infinity 3.0, which is probably the best Star Wars game of the year, oddly enough. After spending several hours with Battlefront, I am sad to say the luster wore off pretty quickly.

    swb2

Battlefront’s visuals and sound design are its strongest assets, along with the multiplayer action. There are around eight modes you can play online. A few notables are Droid Run, Heroes vs Villains, Blast, Walker Assault, Cargo and Supremacy. With these modes, players are able to play as their favorite hero or villain and battle against the opposing side, take cargo from one side of a map to the others, while also defending it, and have an all-out war with 20 vs 20 or 10 vs 10 players. These are just a few examples. My favorites were Cargo, Blast and Heroes vs Villains. While my time with the game was fun while it lasted, the fun began to fade. Even my love for Star Wars couldn’t save it. The shooting mechanics are solid, just like that of the Call of Duty titles, but when you have a game that is multiplayer-only and have nothing else to offer, it can’t really stand on its own two feet. The gameplay has some issues to note. I am not an excellent gamer when it comes to online shooters, but I also don’t suck, because I have played games since I was about 7 years old. No matter what I did, I always seemed to die way more than get kills. Other gamers I know have echoed these sentiments. It could be a combination of gameplay problems and some players just playing religiously and becoming way better than casual players. Also, when you die, the game puts you far away from the action, so you have to continually run towards the battle while simultaneously getting killed over and over. It takes the fun away pretty quickly. The lack of weapons and customization doesn’t help the game’s case either.

    swbf2

What is most troubling about Battlefront is that EA decided to price the game at $60, while also releasing a DLC in December that is also around $60. That is a little ridiculous, especially for what you are getting. To me, that is highway robbery and I see it as EA taking Star Wars fans’ hard-earned money. If you compare this game to the two original Battlefronts on PS2 or even Rogue Squadron for Gamecube, it looks pretty pathetic. That is a sad thing to say because here we are, ten years later, getting half the package we did back then at the same price point. I miss the days when DLC didn’t exist to be honest. All of the content was already there. Nowadays, with the exception of a few companies, DLC is overpriced and released later on. It just doesn’t make sense and it is an obvious cash grab. Let’s look at it in two ways to gain some perspective. For one, take Star Wars out of it. Imagine that everything is the same: Gameplay, visuals, sound design, multiplayer. Then, how would it hold up? For two, ponder the thought of the game being developed by someone else. CD Projekct Red, Remedy, Bethesda…how much better would it have been? As a Star Wars fan, I won’t let EA rob me. I will not buy this game. I may pick it up way later on down the road, pre-owned, when it is in the bargain bin, but that’s it. I had a tough time deciding on a score because that Star Wars fan in me was fighting with the true gamer in me. I think the true gamer won out in the end. I hope I wasn’t too generous.
