    I had this game preordered, upgraded to the Deluxe Edition - and refunded it three days later. The entire game is designed around loot boxes being the only progression system. Even worse, you can't upgrade your gear with the currency you earn by playing unless you've opened enough boxes - so the paywall is there either way.

    Boxes aside, the game just isn't fun. Every map is the same,    I had this game preordered, upgraded to the Deluxe Edition - and refunded it three days later. Even worse, you can't upgrade your gear with the currency you earn by playing unless you've opened enough boxes - so the paywall is there either way.

    Boxes aside, the game just isn't fun. Every map is the same, with 1 - 3 lanes being the only areas you can fight in. It's like the game was designed to keep you from having fun. Every time I tried to flank I went out of bounds, and every phase of the map you'll find yourself only fighting in one or two areas with no alternative routes. As someone who loves being clever and using strategy in my shooters I felt like I was handcuffed while playing it. The game is completely on rails. In DICE's first battlefront I felt like I could actually explore the maps but in Battlefront II you'll be running into walls, closed doors and going out of bounds the entire time as the game funnels your entire team into a single unavoidable choke point. It's frustrating and simply not fun, like playing a MOBA with three lanes and no jungle to go between them. The campaign was also extremely boring.

    Also, forget about playing a hero. I played this game for over 10 hours and never got the hero once. DICE succeeded in making it even more difficult than in the first Battlefront. In Battlefront II players who paid to win earn battle points faster then everyone else, unlock the heroes (who have regenerating health now) and camp with them all game.

Be sure to point out that it was nominated the WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR ON THE PLANET twice in a row. How dare they take our hard-earned and then ask for more. Never buying EA again.

    What a complete and utter disaster. This launch's reviews are comparable to the Batman Arkham Knight's PC Port reviews, except not for the same reasons. At least there weren't MICRO-TRANSACTIONS everywhere for the Batman Port!! There's pretty much no way to win, except by paying your hard earned cash on a trashy game with a short campaign and not much else to do.

After so much spent already, I'm ashamed. The story was interesting, but considering it's Starwars, it always was going to be.     I really do love Star Wars and I really want to enjoy the game, but I won't.
    I made a decision that I won't buy ANY game that has such microtransactions in it no matter how I love the franchise. If we won't stand our ground right now - in 2 years every game there is will have loot boxes and all this **** from Free-to-Play    I have no words to express how much I'm disappointed by this.

    The campaign is an addition that should have been in the last Battlefront but Dice announced that gamers dont want a campaign anymore but this was the biggest complaint to Dice after Battlefront was released. It is great it has now been added even if it is not brilliant and a little short.
    Online has been great in regards to adding a lot of new modes but there is not many and some faves from Battlefront are missing. Online though has been ruined by the loot box progression system and greed. In a way we should thank them for this as this will lead to regulations on games after this blatant act of thievery.

    A new progression has since been put in place. This should have been released this way. But its too little too late. There are too few online modes and along with releasing a measly amount of content since launch this game is long dead. Maybe they will make ammends with future dlc but I wouldnt hold my breath.

    Season 2 has rolled out and to the entire communitys dismay it is a Solo season. Now I was not too concerned about Clone Wars content I just wanted CONTENT! Part 1 of season 2 was awful. HVV teams cut in half, laughable new mode, SA is now in arcade, nothing ground breaking here and a new map, Jabbas Palace so no new contnent here either. Skins that cost upto 70,000 credits have been added, yes thats seventy thousand credits which is aimed at getting you to cough up the cash. Instead of being improved BF2 is getting worse and a lot of good content is required to save it.

    My review covers only the Single Player component as that is all I ever play. It is barely 8 hours and upwards of 2 of those hours you’re not playing as the main character. The Arcade mode is fun but there isn’t much there. Most notedly arcade mode does not have anything for starfighters. This is egregious.     This is only because of people buying incomplete games and paying a lot of extra money for things that should be included on first place. Look at recent games, Destiny 2, Shadow of War... we allowed companies to do this, and if we don't stop them now it will be part of almost every game.

    The Atmosphere is true to the star wars universe as will as the music and sound
    but with all the lootboxes and what the game is doing to the industry as a whole, i simply can't sit and not give the game A 0/10.

I would at best give it a 4 out of 10 but its not worth it, this game has had sooooo much potential to be more than a greed PAY TO WIN game but it had to be tainted all because of money, and even then the game isn't even about playing in the perspective of the empire. The story is short, clunky and combat can get erratic. all they cared about was loot-boxes BE WARNED GAME IS MEANT FOR YOU TO CONSTANTLY SPEND MONEY ON IT.… Expand

    Can't believe they remove the refund bottom. I had to wait 3 hours for my refund. As for game play this game tries to copy mobile games and they just come off greedy. I would rather play a mobile game then this hybrid.

    The game is average at best, some bugs, not too much of an evolution from the previous one, and most of the weapons are unbalanced. Like this was not enough they've put a ton of microtransactions, well I am done with those and will not buy any more games until they stop with that.

    Single player. I felt this was not so much a story driven game as a string of demos thrown together to appease those complaining about lack of a story. I felt it was written by an 8 yr old. The graphics in the campaign seemed dumbed down compared to MP. The HDR seemed turned off in the campaign in some places. Maps were way to tiny to enjoy the game at all.     No winter setting or Yoda in the campaign and no speeder bikes. Endor was so tiny and again that ruined the campaign for me. I felt the shooting was awkward and never felt comfortable with most guns except maybe a couple. Just way too linear and scripted for me to enjoy. No replayability at all.

    Multiplayer. I paid A$99 for this game yet can’t use heroes of my choice until I unlock them? If I can I’ll try and get a refund. I don’t want to play MP with a character and weapons I don’t like and I think at least heroes should all come unlocked. Fair enough to earn abilities and weapon upgrades but characters are why we buy these games. Iconic characters like Rey and Yoda. Why do I have to play months to unlock them? Doesn’t my A$99 cover this?

    Either give us what we’ve paid for or make the game freemium but what they’ve greedily done is make a full paid game with freemium in app purchases. This is nothing but CHEATING, LYING AND STEALING.

    This is supposed to be a AAA title ONLY with ALL CONTENT INCLUDED but EA have created a AAA FREEMIUM game and they know it. They are pushing the boundaries to see just how far they can go.

    How far the greedy gaming industry can go depends on YOU and just how much YOU stand up for your RIGHTS. For A$99 you are ENTITLED to a FULL GAME with FULL ACCESS to ALL CONTENT.

    One day a group of gamers have to UNITE and file a LAW SUITE against these companies DOUBLE DIPPING to teach them all to back off and give us exactly what we pay for.

    In the meantime DONT BUY any AAA tittles that charge AAA prices yet use FREEMIUM DOUBLE DIPPING MODELS TO UNLOCK CONTENT. EA laughably said they wanted us to feel pride we had earned our progress. What a lot of BULLDUST. All they want is $300, $400 from each of us for their games.     Good, not great. The game still lacks a ton of single player content, all the good game modes are online so if you don't play online or are too poor to pay for a subscription (like me) it's fun for a short amount of time, the maps are small in SP and the Campaign is as predictable as predicting the next Transformers movie.

    4. EA and Dice convinced Disney that they know what they are doing with the property, again.
    5. Solo game is incredibly short. For a game of this price, there should have been more.
    6. Spawning issues like in the first game, where you pop up where the enemy is standing by to kill you.

    Pros:
    1. Finally giving a story mode.
    2. Multiple solo options for the player that wants to be able to play a game for more than 20 seconds after spawning and not get gunned down as enemies are standing right there.
    3. Look and sound great.

    Conclusion:
    In the end, I was a masochist, thinking they would have done a better job this time. They got my money again, but after this I’ll never buy another EA/Dice game. The companies focus on providing sub standard games at premium prices and screw the customer over.

    If you haven’t bought it, DON’T. I suggest staying away, and warn you friends of the same. I wasted my money, learn from my mistake and don’t waste yours.    … Expand

If you were hoping to run around as Vader or Yoda it is pretty unlikely you will be doing this inA real shame of a game. If you do manage to, they will still be fairly weak as you won't have the necessary star cards to power them up properly. Just don't waste your time, EA dropped the ball. Since it's such a grind fest I wouldn't even pick it up for $10 in a sale as you need to put in 30-40 hours before the game begins to be fun. Pass it over and let's hope something better comes out in early 2018.… Expand

Decades of pride and honor that Lucas Film and Disney have spent building and shaping a universe for us to get lost in and what happens when we finally get to have an interactive experience that we can share with our friends in Battlefront II? Nothing. Nothing happens.

    The game does not allow you to play your favourite heroes classes like you would be expect. For a game you've already paid money for, EA expect you to pay more. They take advantage of people's love for a series by slapping everything they want behind a paywall. The entire progression system is based around randomized loot boxes that can be bought with real money or earned in-game through HOURS of gameplay just for one. Almost everything you love about Star Wars is in these loot boxes and can't be played with when you first launch the game. The hero classes, which include series icons such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca all require nearly 40 hours of play time for a single one.

Mobile games are making a fortune, and Blizzard does quite well with their loot boxes in Overwatch. But unlike Overwatch, SWBF2 has tied character progression to loot boxes. Whatever skin/spray/voice line or pose a player has in Overwatch, it doesn't impact the player's ability in game. SWBF2 scorns fair play in favor of allowing if not encouraging players to gain advantage over others by paying for more chances at improving their characters.
    Although EA/Dice has temporarily suspended all microtransactions in the game, the only true fix is if they make progression its own thing, and leave loot boxes for cosmetic skins, poses, ect..    … Expand

    Dice made such a great game and then ea **** all over it. It is completely built around pay to wind mechanics... even character progression only happens through lootboxes and starcards. And them turning off all the micro transactions doesnt change that in the slightest. they did that for pr and day one sales

But before that, the game is heavily revolved around these crappy loot boxes which make going against people feel unbalanced and basically cheating, especially in heroes vs villains and starfighter assault modes. The maps get old instantly, I got bored of the game in less than 3 hours! The voice acting for Luke Skywalker, Leia and for Han is SO BAD! Lets also not forget how horrible Luke Skywalker is modeled. This game has very little effort even put into it, Don't just blame EA and LucasArts for this game blame DICE as well because they primarily try to make an excuse for no customization in this game when they can quite clearly make certain trooper types canon, Example they made stormtrooper shock troopers and shadow troopers canon! The last thing is you die SO....FAST it is unbelievable the combat in the OG battlefront is preferred just because you stay alive for much longer than you do in this game, the average lifespan of a trooper is an estimated of 6 seconds a pilot is estimated to be about 2 seconds. The only reason I give this game A 2/10 is that the clone wars voice acting is wonderful! The voice acting for Boba and Yoda is great, nice graphics and sound (which doesn't really mean anything to me since A. its a star wars game and B. its made by DICE having good graphics and sound is to be expected), please for the love of god if you want to play an ACTUALLY GOOD star wars game go on steam or GOG and get the OG battlefront games, the jedi outcast games, republic commando, and/or KOTOR(knights of the old republic) becuase at least games were not made by and for hyper active kids who have the attention span of a fly.… Expand

    I have to commend the work put in as the game looks good visually stunning (apart from Luke Skywalkers FACE!)

EA is an abomination and their microtransactions are the apidimi of unscrupulous behavior that has been brewing and culminating from the gaming industry over the past few years. EA just so happened to finally hit a brick wall with this trash and, unfortunately, performed the unforgivable disservice by tarnishing such a beloved franchise as Star Wars in such a disgraceful way! I am disgusted by how EA has handled all of this and how they have tried to rip off the gaming community at large. Please, for the love of God and all that you hold dear and holy to your heart in terms of being a gamer as well as the overall gaming industry, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! We have to teach EA a lesson and ensure that they never try this type of tactic again! We also need to keep the pressure on so that other game publishers and developers get the clear message that we are sending that we do not want microtransactions and that we will not tolerate them, no matter what!     Graphics:
    As always DICE makes a phenomenal work with textures, lighting, skyboxes, etc. Frostbite engine as always one of the best game engines out there. (A part from Decima, Unreal and Unity engine)
    Though sometimes the ragdoll effect when you kill enemies can be wonky at times, but it's not as big of an issue. Now to frame rate can be an ugly issue when you are in more busy areas, looking at you consoles.

    Sound:
    They seem to deliver almost movie quality sounds with lasers ricochet in metals, wookie screams, spaceship sound effects, lightsabers, channel separations, etc. Everything is spot on amazing to be honest.

    Music:
    It is a fantastic Star Wars score while they deliver different themes to certain characters. I would've been so mad if they got this part wrong but they didn't thankfully.

    Voice:
    I'm not going to lie I was a little disappointed here, more in the writing than the delivery by the voice actors. At some point the internal conflict Iden Versio was experiencing should've been a bit more emotional and you will see that on later missions. Again it wasn't the voice actor, it was the writing which seemed a bit odd by the experiences the characters were experiencing at some times, which made them feel a bit off and anti-climatic. Also will leave you wondering why the emperor sounded like a post throat cancer operation warning video. A part from that the only issue was the writing.

    Gameplay:
    As everybody would know by now the game takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Just to fill in the gaps of what happened during that time. I will not put spoilers, a part from that you will see the perspective of other heroes of the franchise. The story is around 5 hours if you play on the highest difficulty. The AI feels idiotic at lower difficulty levels, though at higher difficulty sometimes the issue is there at times you will encounter that the enemies will be behind cover and they will just come running straight through the middle and into your bullets leaving you wondering at why the enemy did that.
    Also this game loves the term "You are leaving the mission area".

    Here comes the juicy part Multiplayer:
    You got your different game modes including Arcade, Galactic Assault, Heroes vs. Villains, Starfighter Assault, Blast and Strike with 10+ maps to jump into. Connection hasn't been that bad even with the 40 player game mode.
    You get 4 different classes that you can choose from Officer, Specialist, Assault and Heavy class.

    Now the bad part about this game microtransactions, which are destroying the game right now. EA has programmed themselves into a blackhole of stupid. This game has no feeling of progression at all and the star cards are either boosts or abilities that you can equip that are connected to opening loot crates. This leads into a player that has spent ridiculous amounts of money into getting the top tier cards, which will make him into an unkillable god that roasts everybody in the lobby rendering team play at times stupid. The game is a true definition of pay-to-win there is no doubt about it.

    So at the end the fun factor at times it's there, but they are just trying to wrap you more into the graphics. Which will cause you to feel like "Oh man, the graphics are so cool I'm just going to play one more match, just want to experience one more thing or I just want to spend one more dollar to fully upgrade that star card."

    Which leaves me in a dilemma that it really sucks that it has come down to this. That this game is 60 dollars but it feels like every mobile title out there.    … Expand

    The main problem with the game is the multiplayer mode due to it being centred predominately around microtransactions and pay to win progression. The star card and crystal system are an absolute shambles as progression relies heavily on randomised loot crates. Furthermore, the game requires you to do unnecessary tasks such as grinding for 40 hours to unlock a single player character even if you have paid $60 for a deluxe copy. Overall, it gives off an unrewarding experience which is plagued by lootboxes.

    Controversy aside, the single player campaign offers a new Star Wars story; complete with its new roster of characters, weapons and locations. Missions can be visually pleasing but as you delve into the rushed 4-hour campaign, it feels predictable and falls short. There is hardly any room for character development and the placement of well-known, iconic Star Wars alumni such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo tends to take the shine away from the newly introduced characters.

    In conclusion, Star Wars: Battlefront has left me unimpressed once again and regretful that I didn’t cancel my pre-order.    … Expand

    To keep it short, I refuse to buy this game. The game gets a 0 because of EA deliberately trying to enforce a super heavy pay to win system in an $80 game. I have no respect for this practice, and I'm not playing the game if I'm going to be treated as a 24/7 customer instead of a player.

    You keep buying into this practice, and EA will soon charge you for individual save files.

    This is literally the worst game I've ever played. It's complete trash, campaign is like 3 hours long with a TERRIBLE story that bores you to death. Online sucks as usual, just buy call of duty if that's what you're after. Returned it the next day I purchased it. DO NOT BUY.

    Hell, even big rigs, one of the **** games of all time, at least gave me all of its content for free without a 1000 hour grind, or have a predatory lootbox system that tries to be like a drug dealer and give people their next "fix" like GTA and their **** practices making real story DLC no more. What happened to good narrative dlc's like Ballad of Gay Tony. Also if we dont stop this ****Hell, even big rigs, one of the **** games of all time, at least gave me all of its content for free without a 1000 hour grind, or have a predatory lootbox system that tries to be like a drug dealer and give people their next "fix" like GTA and their **** practices making real story DLC no more.     They get 1 point because graphics and sound are great. Everything else is a disappointment. Unfortunately the game seeks to real you in only using its looks. I advise to not buy this game it is not worth $60 even if DLC will be free.

    Microstransactions at its worst. The industry is going down the toilet. Game looks amazing, but is absolutely unplayable. Due to microstransactions around progression. EA needs to relinquish rights to Star Wars.

    Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
