    I've never seen such a blatant attempt at double dipping as this. It's bad enough the game has to have a bland campaign and lots of bugs, but EA had the nuts to tie almost every unlock in multiplayer to a micro gambling system ripped straight out of a f2p mobile game. Except this is a $60-80 title. This is predatory at best, and the AAA industry won't survive being converted into a greedyI've never seen such a blatant attempt at double dipping as this. It takes 4500 hours to unlock everything manually, and it cost $2100 to buy everything prior to their temporary removal of the loot boxes.

    Do not support this kind of unethical practice with your money, or even your time. Any changes they make to satiate their audience are not enough unless they are removing the loot boxes permanently.    … Expand

The story is nothing like they have promised and it is once again a cliche filled nightmare of storytelling. Lootboxes are the next scam. EA lied about addressing the issue and barely changed anything. After being completely confused by actual criticism since it is a Star Wars game and we all know that everything sells well as long as it is called SW, EA came up with the excuse that it is justified to grind for more than 40 hours to unlock a hero (unless you pay for them of course). Keep in mind that this does not include other unlocks like guns, attachments or upgrades for your class or ship. It will take you much longer if you want to have a balanced experience. Battlefront 1 was a mediocre game. It's biggest flaw was that it was too similar to other games and had nothing particularly interesting about it. Battlefront 2 however is just a pathetic excuse to take money from gullible people. The barely improved gameplay can't save the game. This game needs to be condemned by all people who'd consider themselves gamers. Need for Speed Payback received terrible reviews for doing the same things. Don't let them get away with this just because it has Star Wars in the title.… Expand

The game's mechanics are passable but the entire framework of progression in the game being tied to a greedy payment model is horrendous and borderline illegal (depending on your definition of gambling).     Would've had less of a problem if the loot boxes were specificially cosmetics like Overwatch.
    However this is PAY TO WIN, a model which should be for free to play games, not for 60 bucks games. Hope this game undersells. Screw you EA.

With a guaranteed fan base of avid video game players and fans of the Star Wars series, EA capitalized on the opportunity to squeeze every last dime from a collective they did nothing to garner. Make no mistake, had a reputable company such as CD Projekt RedI played the Beta and the content was above average, but certainly not exceptional. EA's use of microtransactions is abhorrent.     My biggest negatives about this game are: 1) There is no Starfighter Assault for Arcade Mode. 2) In Arcade Mode, there is a cooldown limit to the number of credits you can earn (so screw you if you want to play offline I guess?). 3) Microtransactions for non-cosmetic items.     I had this pre-ordered on Amazon and was super excited to play it with my new Xbox one X. The loot crate and convoluted micro transactions insanity had me canceling. This is the line for me; no more loot crates and no more micro transactions.

    EA you gave us this big apology about the previous Battlefront game. You even referred to its lack of content. With BF2 you gave us the content we wanted but flooded it with micro-transactions and so blatantly too. My feelings on EA were never great but they have taken things to a new low.

    You can't play with all the characters, you have to buy the characters to open them.

    Most things in the game require cash ..

    Gameplay: Fun, fast-paced, exciting
    Visuals: Great! The world is immersive and really takes you to the places in the SW universe.
    Sound Design: Perfect.

    The team at Dice really outdid themselves. If it wasn't for EA trying to suck each and every last dollar out of their customers, this game might have actually done well.

    Well now you see the result of just accepting whatever the Publishers throw at you yet you are still going to let this game sell like hotcakes whilst destroying an IP with decades of history behind it.

    I was going to say the next logical step would be to introduce time gated paywalls but EA even went as far as to introduce this into Battlefront 2!

This is not a video game worth your time, it is an addict-geared cash grab aimed at rinsing its consumer base for as much money as possible. Disney and EA are promoting gambling to children. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
