    As a Star Wars fan I cannot believe that Lucas Films allows this 21st century white collar criminals be in charge of their franchise. The game per se is incredibly good, but completely ruined because of this gambling-like policies.

    0/10 and one of most overrated games of the year. DICE **** up, EA **** up (as usual). When I see the "critic reviews" on the left I feel sad...80+ rating for this? If this is an 8/10 game, then Witcher 3 should be 1000/10...

The game is stunning yes "Graphically" and thats it. The story was decent at best but it is so short that it is so shallow. The game was mulitplayer first (for the extra $$$$) then story second (a realEnough is enough. Also critics only plays the game for a hour - 5 hours max. They are not real gamers.     I am not trying to cry or hate but just stating valid facts. Also, performing well in the multiplayer yields very little credits, so people will just throw the match and end it early for fast credits.....so whats the point of playing and having fun when people are just thorwing the matches because they want to get the loot boxes. This really destroy the whole game for me.

    I had told my friends not to buy until they try it in my place which they did and EA you just lost an additional 11 people who could have bought your game. It doesn't seem much but it all adds up when everyone knows of your exploitation on gamers and young kids with enticing them with using cash to buy loot boxes. Shame on you and shame on those people working for the company who have no balls to fight for people rights.    … Expand

    Don't buy 60$ games that have microtransactions that affect the gameplay experience. This is not tollerable at any level in a full price game.     Campaign was short (less than 4 hours) and made to be canon to the star wars universe but in doing so they made the most dull characters with the craziest logistics to fit into normal Star Wars story lines instead of just doing a complete offshoot. Multiplayer is a disgrace to video games with the loot crate system being a necessity unless you want or can play the game for 4500+ hours.     There is a general confusion running through all aspects of the game. Instead of presenting objectives in intuitive ways it will usually take you several play-throughs to really understand what you are supposed to do. I don't think the time it takes to unlock things is too bad, the main issue is you kind of start not caring about unlocking anything. You get almost no excitement no matter what loot you get or what hero you finally unlocked. Which really leaves, the gameplay. Which I'd say only a third of what's available I think gets past middling. And only half of what's left I'd consider great.… Expand

    And then, I tried multiplayer. It was...OK. At first I got upgrades and whatnot through just playing, and at a decent pace - but not always for the characters I was using. In fact, I got duplicates more often than new cards! And I get a crap amount of credits for the duplicates! Then upgrades slowed to a crawl. Then I got cooldowns.

    Then I kept getting blown away by people who had either A) spent way more time than me playing the game B) knew something I didn't about upgrades or C) bought crystals before EA/DICE/Disney shut them off.

    I wanted so bad to love the game, and instead I've now gotten a refund. I found myself disappointed in the whole experience because it was so...unbalanced. I'm also disappointed because it would take me roughly forever to unlock everything - or spend way more money than I ever intended to.

    I expect pay to win schemes from mobile games. I expect it, so I don't play those. But a game I spent $80 on? WHY DID YOU MAKE IT SO HARD TO LOVE?

    As much as I was looking forward to this game, I won't be re-purchasing it.

    And I can't honestly recommend anybody else gets it either.

    I'd give it a better rating just for the graphics and Arcade mode, but everything else drags it down so much that I can't do it. Avoid.    … Expand

    As for the lootbox fiasco EA has pushed on Dice they should be ashamed of themselves. There is no excuse for this nonsense and I really hope EA suffers because    I am giving this a 3/10 purely for the beautiful graphics and sound.     3) Map design mechanics are poor. Take Galactic Assault. It's this huge map, but they artificially constrain you into a small part of it at a time. And, it's a different constraint for each side, so players can shoot you and you can't reach them because the game will tell you to turn around (this is mostly beneficial to Specialists who snipe). It's an absurd game design that also prevents flanking maneuvers and makes these 20 v 20 battles nothing but funneled, linear, zerg rush like head to head battering rams.

    3) No character customization. No choice in gender. No skins. Nada. Zip.

    4) Progression via lootboxes. This alone should make this game a 0. But, the game itself is pretty mediocre even without this terrible progression system.

    Anyone who purchases this game is akin to those people who supported the Nazis because at least their flags looked pretty.    … Expand

This game is the embodiment of corporate greed and shows the lack of respect EA has for its consumers. The sad part is this is a fun game, but it's set up to where you can't enjoy it.     A funny story, I went for a meal in my local restaurant I asked for Chilli which I paid for. Upon receiving my Chilli I noticed I wasn't provided a knife and fork, I requested a knife and fork but was told I had to pay extra, so I paid extra and they brought over a box, I opened the box and inside was a napkin and a spoon, I complained and was told I needed to pay again so I did and I wasA funny story, I went for a meal in my local restaurant I asked for Chilli which I paid for. DLC's also problem in a multiplayer game as it divides multiplayer base halfway through the year. it should be like titanfall 2 which EA bought their studio too and will probably ruin that too with titanfall 3. this game is a mess right now.     EA screwed this game up big time. The fact that they shut down visceral studios is an outrage as well.
    EA also makes another horrible game, and that is the NHL series. They also messed up Mass Effect. I feel sorry for any franchise that puts there faith in EA.

    - The story, it's amazing. Nothing more to add, I love the idea the story begins immediately as the Death Star explodes.
    - The combat is better this year, slightly but it's an improvement and does feel nice to play. - The attention to detail, graphically this game is beautiful. The sound is also incredible. - The amount of characters you can play with. No better feeling than    Positives:

    - The progression system is awful. Simply awful. I have never known something to be so bad. Everything relies on Star Cards, which stem from loot crates and microtransactions (which at this point have been disabled).
    - Loot boxes.
    - Microtransactions (disabled at the moment, but will make a comeback eventually. And they were in to begin with so they deserve to be on here).
    - Only 5 game modes as appose to the previous title. A lot of the better modes are gone. I miss the old title where you would start in space, then fight on the Death Star in an all-out battle. Or Heroes vs Villains where you could really go crazy on the troopers.
    - Arcade is boring.
    - Loot boxes (did I mention those?)
    - EA and DICE have the nerve to charge people full price for half of a game.
    - The story was good, but far too short.
    - Loot boxes.

    This game was a waste of money. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars and the older Battlefront games but this is just awful. Loot crates spoil the experience as per usual, the progression system is terrible and the game modes get boring after a few hours. I have hope some of the DLC will make the experience slightly better but this is just bad. I had hope for this, and again, EA have let me down. As have DICE. I just wish producers would understand that nobody likes loot crates that have an affect on how the game plays. Avoid this. At least until all the expansions are out and it's in the $10 sale bin.    … Expand

    8) Maps shuffling - 8/10 times I start Galactic Assault it puts I'm in beta Naboo map. For ~30 games i was on Hoth once!
    9) Arcade mode split-screen only... another huge step back. What is that? 1990?

    while the graphics are amazing, the multiplayer is ruined by the fact that it is pay to win. EA has stated that you do not gain a noticeable advantage when opening loot crates with real money. This is far from the truth, multiple star cards affect attributes similar to "aim assist." These advantages should not be in a AAA title.

Sorry not sorry temporarily turning off the microtrans now does not fix the fact that your progression is hindered by it and you are just going to turn them back on anyway so peace the heck out on this game.

    On my second match, the situation reversed: players had no cards and I was almost impossible to beat. 1 v 1 or 2 v 1 I always dominated. That is when I drew the line about the unfairness: refunded my copy and said goodbye to this trash forever.

    Campaign

    -Writing

    Campaign was a boring lazily written mess that tries to tie the loose knot that’s is the post Return of the Jedi era to the new The Force Awakens era I expected a lot perhaps too much out of the story since it’s writer was the same writer behind the brilliant “Spec Ops: The Line” but writing wise this game is a huge disappointment.

    -Protagonist

    This game tried to implement a new character into the Star Wars timeline by the name of Iden Versio and it FAILED. The inferno squad as a whole is a great addition to the Star Wars timeline but Iden Versio just feels boring. I’m sorry, but the beats you expect her to hit...she hits and it feels like the writing team didn’t spend much time on making her a great character. Disappointed that they sucked the life out of what could’ve been an awesome female role. I don’t blame the actress I blame what she had to work with.

    -Story

    You know recently I replayed Star Wars the force unleashed 2 and I actually had more fun on there than I did with this story. Guys lighten up a bit have fun with the universe a little. So yes Story is once again B O R I N G. I feel that if more time was spent on this campaign it would’ve been better but the short campaign was a disappointment in fact the only short campaign of recent years that I loved was Titanfall 2’s campaign.

    Graphics

    Duh, you know they’re good.

    Gameplay

    Gameplay needs a bit of tweaking because although it has improvements that make it slightly different from Battlefront (2015) (that’s a good thing) it still feels a bit amateurish and lacking in depth. I hope this can be rectified with future updates or in later sequels.

    Multiplayer

    -LOOTBOXES (Stay away from the game until they fix this)

    Ah yes the backbone of this game the reason the majority of players are buying this game. Well it’s disappointing, see I feel like leveling up is a hell of a grind that kind of forces you to buy lootboxes , once again you don’t have to, but leveling up feels somewhat slow so I understand the public’s concern with this game especially in the lootbox department. It’s a thing that no matter how much it’s tweaked it’s built into the pillar of this game, it’s tied directly into the leveling up system. I feel like if they removed any and all star cards from the crates and purely input cosmetic items in there all would be good and dandy but considering how closely it’s tied into the leveling up system it’s going to be a problem until they remove cards, weapons, and anything that will grant the player with advantages from crates.

    -Modes

    Modes are lacking but they’re decent, they’re all basic copies of modes you’ve seen before in games like Battlefield or Call of Duty, the great exception to this is hero vs villains which is great in my opinion.

    -Maps

    Maps are well made from what I can tell but the community has its concerns with a few maps that feel unbalanced in gameplay and I’ll leave that up to the developers to fix.

    Overall

    Overall Battlefront 2 has a monotonous story mode campaign that contains one of the most boring people in the Star Wars galaxy and I wish her drone was the main character instead of her, it looks good and certain sections of it are fun especially the Kylo section. I’d rate campaign a 2/10 such a huge disappointment from what I anticipated to be one of the most well written campaigns in such a long time. Multiplayer has a lack of modes and maps (which will soon get fixed with its free dlc) two stand out modes being “Starfighter Assault” and “Heroes Vs Villains” and the other modes are completely boring. Gunplay feels amateurish. Lootboxes are a problem. Overall for multiplayer I have to rate it a 4/10 I expect better work from Dice considering their fantastic work on the battlefield series.    … Expand

    Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
