This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

Okay so, admittedly, I was never much of a Resident Evil fan before the Resident Evil 2 : Remake. That was my first RE ever, and it easily became on of my favorite games I've ever played. From the puzzle solving, to the resource management system to the third person over the shoulder camera angle (admittedly wasn't a fan of the fixed camera + tank controls), it is a perfect game to me. I was naturally PUMPED for this RE3 Remake, and I'm not disappointed, outside of a few minor things. I really can not talk about cut content and how true it is to the original, never having played it, this game on it's own is great, in my personal opinion. My minor complaints and why it isn't a 9.5-10 has to do with the length and replay-ability. I like RE2 more because of its slower pace, puzzle solving and backtracking but the RE3 Remake is a blast to play and I'd give it a strong 8.5 to 9 out of 10. I understand peoples criticisms completely, though. Expand

Resident Evil 3 Remake is a good game. But it is INCOMPLETE.

CAPCOM took advantage of the MARKETING of Resident Evil 2 Remake to sell the RE3.

    Be ashamed, CAPCOM.

    Adding DLCS is MANDATORY.

Resident Evil 3 has moments that shine. The main flaws of the game are its length and replayability factor. Definitely a step down from the Resident Evil 2 remake. It would be worth purchasing on sale, unless capcom decides to add dlc content to beef up the length.

Outside of the length, RE3 doesn’t offer much in terms of a memorable story, environments, or even enemies. Most of the time you’re fighting zombies with the occasional monster appearing to mix up the combat.

I loved the original RE3, it was fun, had tons of replayability, and got me into the RE series, so for this "reimagining" I actually got the best TV in the market an, on of the best GPU, and the best surround sound, to play this game, if it was going to dissaapoint it wont be because of hardware, so I made the investment.

I was expecting a GREAT game, but to many red flags were raised before its release, culminating with total disapointment, this game is just a cash grab, nothing more.

The good: The controls are perfect, the Graphics are great and Carlos voice actor is charming as **** and thats it.

Now the bad: Everything else about it is just either reused and copy pasted all over the place, buggy, uncomplete, boring and lazy

This game is rushed, it really needed at least one more year of work, to be in an acceptable state, I would like to say that its a shadow of the original but its not, everything about it is a missed oportunity, its full of reused zombies/assets all over the place, i could even count the same zombie fat zombie with yellow vest up to 7 times, theres a wise saying that says "variety is the spice of life" and this game does not have it, they just copy/pasted EVERYTHING all over the place, even entire zones from REmake2

Music?, its there yes, buts its so bad, that you cant even notice it, to the point you might just fall asleep (as bad as REmake2), and this time they didnt even bother to add the old sountrack to keep you awake

Everything about this game is a downgrade to the original RE3, I would probably say its worth 15 bucks, dont waste your time, I would regret even watching a long play of this

The gameplay is seamless; the tension and atmosphere are palpable (especially in Carlos’s sections); the environments are beautifully realized and packed with detail; the new character models are all sexy as hell; the music is gorgeous; and the story, including the alterations, is brilliant and refreshing, and so **** exciting! I understand why many RE fans may miss the locations and enemies from the original game that were excised in this remake, but I don’t personally miss them. (Although, I could have done without ANOTHER (however brief) sewer section.) The only criticisms I might have, are: 1. Nemmy is underutilized and somehow less intimidating than Mr. X. The encounters with him are intense, but they’re mostly scripted and it’s surprisingly easy to shake him off in the few sections of the game where he actively follows you throughout a level. (I played on Standard difficulty, my first round—Hardcore is next!) 2. The exploration is sadly limited. Levels and environments are mostly linear, with a few buildings and alleys to explore for some goodies. Other than that, it’s a straight shot to each destination, which is somewhat disappointing. It doesn’t at all break my experience, because this game is far more hectic and action-packed than the second remake, but it would have been so nice to explore a sprawling Raccoon City again! 3. The puzzles are traded out for “Turn on four _______” missions. RE2make also had a severe lack of puzzles, but it had a lot more than RE3make, which has close to none. Maybe puzzles in a game as action-packed as RE3make would have ruined the pacing, but I would have liked a few more than are present. That’s it! Those are all the negative things I have to say about this game and I can’t wait to play it again and again, as I’ve done every other entry! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

While it has one or two flaws such as short length and a couple of missing locations its still a fun game to play. Some of the reviews saying jill is a feminist wahmen is mega cringe. Wouldnt be suprised if they hated the original. Fantastic characterization for the characters. Nicholai, Carlos, Jill and Tyrell get superb upgrades in character development. Carlos had the best lines in the game. Amazing gameplay with some good gunplay. A good arsenal of weaponry and the dodge mechanic is better this time around. Nemesis is more meaner and vicseral, his boss fights are way more fun. Would have liked to see more of him but what we got was enough. Ignore some of the reviews on here, this is a very good game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had too many isssues with the game.

    The negative:
    - They cut to much content, it is not near to The original game on ps1. Many areas are gone and some monsters and boss flights are erased - level design is poor and linear. Racoon city in the original game feels more open world.
    - almost no puzzles
    - nemesis is too easy on hardcore mode, one handgranade takes him down.
    - nemesis envolves to a dog, such a bad decision. - dodge should have been replaced with defensive items
    - too much action, there is not enough mistery, and survival horror.

    Positive
    - good character development
    - Nice graphics

Overall, they should have just copied the whole level design and maps from the original game but with better graphics. It would havee been a better game, if theh kept everything from the original game. Copy paste would have worked better. This game gets low grade because they forgot to Copy paste the original game. I really hope this will end capcom.

This game utterly fails as a remake. There's so much cut content, so much changed, that it's hardly RE3. Nemesis is underutilized and completely different from the original, to the point that I hesitate to call him Nemesis.
I don't like how Jill acts, and I'm not referring to her abrasive tone, but more that she's constantly making quips and snarky remarks during fights. It just doesn't

I don't like how Jill acts, and I'm not referring to her abrasive tone, but more that she's constantly making quips and snarky remarks during fights. It just doesn't make sense considering the game starts and immediately implies she has PTSD from the events of RE1.
As a game, it's fun enough. It's incredibly short and very light on content though. There's very few bonus costumes and there's no extra modes beyond more difficulties.
In the end, the game felt very rushed and lacked the polish of RE2, on top of inexplicably being 80% different from the original game.
Very disappointing, especially when compared to the RE1 and RE2 remakes.

i would call this a soulless remake but it’s not even that, it’s something that just happens to share the same title as 1999’s Resident Evil 3. this game is just profanity-laden edgy action sequences with almost no respect given to the source material and its so short it could have easily just been DLC for the RE2 Remake (which was also soulless, but at least it was actually a remake).

The reality is RE3 Remake compares to RE2 Remake in almost the same way as RE3 Original compares to RE2 Original. Sure, some of the "iconic" content was cut, but some new content has been added with new story beats, plot twists and action sequences that never existed before this remake. Is it as good as RE2 remake? Probably not. Is it a 0 or a 1 out of 10? Absolutely not! It's still a great game with plenty of moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. One criticism I agree with is it's a bit short and should have been priced accordingly. Then again, RE3 original was a pretty short game, I remember beating it with my mates in under 4 hours when I was 9 or 10. Expand

I may run with nostalgia glasses on, but still, I did enjoy this game noticing all the details that the original had but still Capcom please stop drinking so much coffee and calm down this game feels rushed.

The original was the first horror game I have ever played and when I saw the first trailer for RE3 remake really got my tears flowing. But there were pieces of information leaked that this game is short and yeah unfortunately it is.
I understand the original wasn't long but it had replayable value. Randomizer was amazing in the original and those choices were small but still good phasing. but in this one, it feels more scripted. For the best experience start with hard mode and after that Nightmare difficulty is actually really fun! Nemesis is really well scripted in Nightmare mode.
Game's first half is amazing but it loses steam towards the end.

I will say the bad stuff first.
-The game feels more scripted than the original.
-I wanted more Nemesis (this is an actually big thing for me)
-Short length, my first playthrough was 7 hours Yea my RE7 was 7 hours also but it feels like the overall phasing isn't there it feels rushed. I just wanted more..
-Cut places and bosses from the original (Re2Remake had the same problem)
-Some iconic cutscenes or story bits were removed.( Re2 remake had the same problem)

    Good stuff
-Nemesis introduction IS **** AMAZING and those small action pieces I love you Nemi.
-Filling those lose bits that were in RE2 Remake.
-Details oooooh all the details that were in the original!
-Face details. Cutscenes are actually good and the acting!
-Original soundtrack! hell to the **** yes! the saferoom theme, thank you Capcom!
-Jill is beautiful and badass, those new character designs are really good! (especially Mikhail and Nikolai!)
    -graphics and small facial impressions.
    - Details to Jill's torment with nemesis are actually really good!
    -More enemies.

    Cripes with other reviewers.
    "This game is more action-packed!"
-It is the same issue was with the original but in the original, it helped a lot! In this one, I think those Nemesis pits were well scripted but in the original, they feel more unscripted? So yeah I don't blame you, This is easily the first RE titles out there with more action.
    "Game feels short"
    -I agree it's rushed.

This game is in normal mode like 4-5 hours rushed action movie that really needed to be better than the original. This game actually made me appreciate the original more. This is isn't a bad game but for that price tag, it isn't worth it. If Capcom thinks that the multiplayer will fill those pits that Mercenaries and choices made in the original they are wrong.

It just needed at least another year to iron out some rough edges. The demo pretty much featured the only time Nemesis stalks you through an open ended section. So that gave away the best thing game had to offer. I just wish the full game represented an extended version of what we got from demo.

End stage so bare & unfinished looking. It reminds me of a training tutorial grid section. Plane, but really wide open. When you run around in this place, it feels like you are walking because everything is placed so far apart from one another. Funny thing too is that the labs in RE games are usually the most decorated parts in the series. RE6 even had a compelling lab section.

RE2 Remake was a labor of love & full of fan service. Somehow they didn’t feel 3 was as much of a priority even though back in ps1 era, RE3 was better than RE2. So with remakes, the roles are reversed. At least we got the coolest versions of Jill, Nemesis, & Carlos from all this. I like everything about the new Nemesis. The mask, the voice, the attacks, his weapons, his mutations. The character artists for this game are gifted with the most amazing talent in the world. Let's just hope the RE2 Remake team is responsible for Code Veronica Remake & that they wait until time is right to give it to us. Yes, I’m in no rush to play. Just would like quality.

One way to redeem it a bit is to patch the death animations & poor collision. When you stab a corpse, it takes you out of experience so bad. I used this as a tactic in RE2 when determining whether zombie was still alive. Now its so static & the dead bodies don’t have any physics. Its like chopping invisible cardboard that doesn’t cut. .......

RE3 original were terrifying and that nemesis had me on jumpscares and goosbumps the whole game. The game had great level design and details also great sound effects. I just played the original RE3 about a year ago to remember how amazing that game was and its holding until this day for being one of the best horror survival game of all times just like the original RE.

This RE3 Remake has nothing of what made the original great. Nemesis is a child joke here. The game is more action than survival. There is no soul to the game. They made it fast without thinking just for easy cash grab. I guess Crapcom still Crap....

Capcom added irrelevant REsistance to sell it on fullprice. And they will milk REsistance mode with boosters, skins etc.
Music in campaign also not working on the atmospherethat was so neat and creepy in the original. And Nemesis nothing but joke because he not the iconic villain but just some poor animal and victim of scientists of Umbrella. Just few good things in the game: Carlos and his R.P.D. and Hospital segment, new appearance of Jill work of actors in overall. But this isn't enough for game that wear proud name Resident Evil 3. Capcom, make remake of this remake or your next game in this franchise will flop.

TL;DR: It was fun while it lasted, so 4 hours basically. I say wait for the price to come down to about €20 to €30 and then go for it. It’s still worth a shot but not as good as the other remake, RE2. 6.5/10 I’ll cut this review in 3 parts: 1. Gameplay 2. Story 3.

I’ll cut this review in 3 parts:
    1. Gameplay
    2. Story
    3. Replayability

    Gameplay:
The gameplay in RE3R is very similar to RE2R, mainly because of the new engine they use. It’s very fluid and feels good to use, no real negatives on this. The guns feel good and are realistic. My main problem is how they handled it, it’s a lot more action packed then survival horror, which is a shame (please don’t let this end up like RE6). What’s mainly new here is the dodge mechanic. If you time your dodge correctly you’ll roll and mitigate all incoming attacks/damage. I think this kind of goes against what Resident Evil is supposed to be, survival horror. With a move like this you basically don’t have to be afraid of anything, plus it’s very cluncky and doesn’t always work (I know you can buy the STARS book for it to be easier but that doesn’t count). The graphics look amazing and the voice acting is really good but sometimes the lip syncing was completely off. Also they downgraded the gore from RE2R so that’s a big no no. You should never censor your games Capcom.

    Story:
For people who have played the original, you would know the story is different and they did cut out some content and the choice system (which is complete bs), but I didn’t play the original. I thought the story was good, but a little short, my first time playing through took me 4 hours, which compared to my RE2R first playthrough is 4 hours less. And this is my biggest problem with this game, for the current price tag of €60, it’s wayyy too short. A real bummer. I guess the price does factor in RE Resistance, whatever that abomination is. Also, I felt like the game was very linear, you don’t really come back to previous area’s or go off the beaten path, it’s pretty straightforward, this hurts the replayability (which we’ll go over later). Finally, the boss fights. They weren’t bad, but they weren’t spectacular either. The main enemy in the game is Nemesis, and by all the hype I heard about him I thought I was gonna **** my pants while fighting him. Turns out, not so much. He’s scary, yes, but I’m dissapointed they didn’t use him more. Besides the first downtown area he doesn’t roam around and kill you for the rest of the game. You see him 4 more times. 2 of these boss fights in his dog like stage are pretty much the same (the ones where he circles around you, and then you have to shoot him off of something). Maybe they could’ve added a little bit more variety. So yeah I was a bit dissapointed by how they handled Nemesis, but I guess I got hyped up too much. All in all, solid with a little bit too much action and too short, best way too describe this is short but sweet.

    Replayability:
Here’s my biggest problem, RE games are designed to make you play multiple times, so you can unlock more stuff or experience the story in a different way, this is not the case here. Because the game is so linear and no S+ ranks (as of now correct me if I’m wrong) being available. There’s little reason for you to go through the story again, because all those cool extra’s you unlocked for achieving these high ranks are now in a shop. A **** shop. Who thought this was a good idea?? Now when someone has the infinite rocket launcher they’ll just say: ‘Oh, I just bought it... with points..’ Now you might argue you get these points by playing the game multiple times but good **** luck getting the infinite rocket launcher by only playing the game over and over again normally. The easiest way to get it is to ‘farm’ the kill challenges on a save and then reloading that save, rinse and repeat. Farming?? In a RE game??? How low have we gone Capcom? The fun in getting these infinite weapons was playing the game on hardcore and getting high ranks, it was not easy with simple challenge farming! You had to really know the game and have some skill! That fun is now gone.

My final verdict is a 6.5/10
It was fun while it lasted, so 4 hours basically. I say wait for the price to come down to about €20 to €30 and then go for it. It’s still worth a shot but not as good as the other remake, RE2.

It IS WORTH playing but you are not going to want to replay this one. MY BIGGEST PROBLEM with this remake is that if feels like they took more out of game compared to the original and it feels rushed and empty. In a remake I feel like they need to add more not take more out.

+ Nemesis feels more like a treating than ever in terms of strength, and speed.
+ The power station bug section is amazing and unique and the game needed a lot more of those sections.
+ The dodging mechanic is back and it feels good when you get it right! A very good add to this game.
+++ The end game timer does not count the cut-scenes & the cinematic moments
+/- First of all the game is too short but that has never been a problem for the RE series BUT it is here because there are no branching paths that make you want to play the game again.
+ Changing Jill's design makes more sense because the original tube top and mini shirt just don't make sense.
---NO RE-PLAYABILITY (harder modes do not count)
-The puzzles are too easy to the point where it is embarrassing.
-This game sacrificed having a big city to explore to becoming something that felt empty and horribly linear. There are too many landmarks in the city missing, No clock tower (mostly), No Raccon Park, No graveyard, No gas station, No newspaper building, No Mayor statues. No construction sites (not really). The game did not feel like a city if felt like 2 blocks of a town and that is a huge problem.
    - The story was so poorly written and that pacing felt so rushed that characters never got a chance to have the interactions they needed for the story to feel right.
    - The original game has these quick time events where you had to make decisions that really effected game play and enhanced re-playability and because that was neglected that game feels linear and empty.
    - Missing enemies like giant worm, Grave digger and spider
    - No mulp endings.

I just want to be honest this game is NOT a 0 but it is NOT a 10 by any means.

It's a great remake like its predecessor. It's short but amazing game. I have already played it 3 times and I never feel bored. The environment is better than I expected and nemesis scarier than ever. it's a full package.

Most of the charm of the original RE3 is absent. It's sad because I actually favor RE3 over RE2, and it's obvious the same care wasnt given to this game. Wait till it's on sale for 10 - 15 bucks. Disappointed. The first half of the game did have me i'd admit, the second half was more like a meh, oh they re-spawned those guys again.

Lacked any real tension from the first game. Feel kind of let down after RE2 remake, feels like they were just trying to go for a cash grab off of how well RE2 RM was.

Def wait for a sale if you want this title.

These people lied. Because of their own success, they themselves have become arrogant. I really feel betrayed when I think about advertising a lot in the pre-creativity period. Considering the second series, experts have lowered the rating a little, but I will not do that. It should never be remade as it is now.

Expand

    - The sewer was great. It became more realistic than that of RE2r.
    - Characters are excellent. Really enjoyed!
    - BOWs are excellent. Hunter Gamma and Beta look great!

    Negative elements:

    - Absence of backtracking! Absurd. It's the biggest feature of the franchise's success! Respect the tradition!
    - Cutting of scenarios for transferring chapters. I think it's a mistake! Carlos was to walk to the Clock Tower to find Jill. It would be fantastic.
    - New Raccoon City locations could be explored, such as The Mall, Library, Stadium etc. It would be wonderful if you could get inside the Clock Tower, under some justification.
    - Absence of puzzles. And what are there are stupid, like the puzzle of precious stones. The only interesting puzzle was the connection of the subway energy.
    - Absence of classic scenarios that could be reformulated and revisited (Raccoon Press, Clock Tower, City Hall, Gas Station etc.)
    - Brad's death was inappropriate.
    - Crates scattered around the scenario. I think this level design option is very silly. It is inconsistent, it is not immersive and it is not serious. It has an arcade and game appeal from the past decade. You should put bags and backpacks to be opened. The trunk of police and civilian cars could be exploited instead of these crates.
    - Lack of explanation about the RPD events. Where's David Ford?
    - Very small and uninspired city scenery. It was simplified and very poor. A loss of opportunity!
    - Repetitive and reused zombies. Laziness?
    - Excess and repetition of suitcases and locks. Couldn't there be other models?
    - The physics of the game suffered a clear setback. JIll / Carlos movements less than Leon / Claire. The gameplay is not as tasty as the RE2r. The REsistance game has a more responsive control mechanic than the RE3r.
    - There are no zombie mutilations. Shots impact is much less than RE2r.
    - Carlos' dodge, with his super punch, is stupid and very tacky. I was scared if he would also have a spinning kick, a suplex blow or punch a rock.
    - Nemesis became tacky and gaudy. Nemesis spiderman? Maybe if he was a little faster than Mr. X, but a lot more deadly, it would make the character more scary. It was very exaggerated. It got more boring than scary like Mr. X.
    - I think the badass personality of the main characters is something so old-fashioned and silly. I think you need to get out of that silly formula. I prefer humanized characters with more dramatic and real phrases.

    - The gameplay is very short. If the Clock Tower had been explored inland, if the Gas Station had been visited and if the city had been wider and more exploitable, like some boutiques, the game could have lasted much longer. Also, I believe that the Raccoon Subway scenario could be explored, as in RE Outbreak2, to prolong the hours of play. The expansion of the Hospital and the addition of NEST 2 was great. But the classic scenarios could not have been missed.

I missed the City Hall. Will we have a new game in Raccoon City, where the building will be explored and there will we know the fate of Michael Warren? I read it on the internet from a fan, and it sounded very appropriate.

Learn CAPCOM! Do not abandon backtracking and exploration. Do not abandon puzzles. The game appears to have been produced in a hurry and with a lack of patience. Don't repeat that mistake, please, in the next remake.

For me, Remake or reimagination (it doesn't matter) needs to keep the original and classic elements of the game. There can be no losses, only additions, as occurred with NEST 2, the Hospital and the Sewer. RE1r is masterpiece because this.

On it's own this game is mediocre, overpriced, short action with zero innovations, with weak linear story, shallow, linear level design, with low enemy variation, terrible "adventure" elements in a form of next to no puzzles( and the ones that is still in is idiotically easy) It's multiplayer mode is just boring crap, so I don't even want to write about here. On top of all that, it is supposed to be a survival horror according to capcom with only limited action elements and yet it's way too action oriented for that, there is like almost no scary stuff here... Guess weak ost is also partly responsible for lack of horror atmosphere, they have remixed some old tracks, but most music is new and those new tracks is rather uninspiring, they do absolutely nothing to enhance the experience. Also, the main boss of the game, Nemesis, is mostly absent in the game, he pursue Jill only in the begging of the game and them became a standard recurring boss who only appears when the plot want it. Bizarrely it's also somewhat an inferior compare to RE 2 Remake in terms of zombies reaction towards damage - guess it's was a need sacrifice for the sake of framerate in those moments where game does not even trying to be an action-horror and just dumps tons of living corpses at you. I dunno and don't care. Since it's so bland and unoriginal in terms of gameplay I struggle to pin point what is wrong here... On it's own is just your bog standard somewhat slow console over the shoulder shooter. Guess if you like stuff like this you will be pleased, but I'm prefer far more fast paced third person shooters than what capcom, epic games and naughty dog like to do today. So yeah, they've officially promised a horror game and made your typical ots action, that's so original...
But as a remake or even re-imagining this game is just **** It's sucks. Not only it does not respect the original source material, but it's just refuses to actually, you know, "remake" or even "re-imaging" stuff from RE3N 1999. How can it be considered a decent re-imagining when it has less locations to explore than original, lol? Where the hell is Clock Tower, Park and Dead Factory, **** What did you do to ammo crafting, why the hell I can't craft as much types of ammo as before, why less? How is this an improvement? Why the hell an old game has a deeper crafting system... This is like... I mean... Just why? Why do you have a completely inferior version of original mechanics??? Why Nemesis stopped being a proper pursuer? You literally made Mr.X in your previous remake more like original Nemesis and then you thought that it's gonna be a great idea to limit new Nemesis instead? Why the hell the game is not scary, original was like in top 3 scariest games in the series and what, at some point you have randomly decide to turn it into in almost pure shooter? Who the hell asked that?! Why did't you replaced the Live Selection with something else if you thought that it's bad or not good enough feature for this game? How the hell it's an improvement to make a linear game with weaker story instead of no-linear one? I know I have already wrote about an inferior level design compare to original, but it's not just that, the thing is most locations is completely unrecognizable! At least RE2 Remake as limited as it was still featured that Police Station, with brand new, but still recognizable appearance and nothing like that is presented here, absolutely nothing! People who defends this game is trying to downplay the cuts by claiming that city and hospital are still in, but they're not because nothing looks familiar aside from some super minor nods. We've got very small hub section of the city instead of couple different places like it was done in original, but new city is not just smaller it also completely different too and same thing with hospital, which means that no, capcom decide to cut not just three location, they have literally CUT THE WHOLE DAMN GAME SINCE ASIDE FROM POLICE STATION NONE OF THE LEVEL LOOKS LIKE THEY USED TO, THEY ARE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AREAS, WITH DIFFERENT TONE, STYLE AND ARCHITECTURE. Capcom have cut the entire goddamn game, not just park/tower/factory... It's so disappointingly unfaithful... After all these years, we've got both an inferior game on it's own and bad remake/re-imaging as well! I just can't believe this. And press is fine with it, they don't care, they even claim that original game was an action-shooter too. It's no wounder that it's so overrated, reviewers literally don't even trying to be objective here and straight up lying about original in order to find an excuses for all these shortcoming and failures. But you know what? I don't care.

After a stellar remake of an arguably the best Resident Evil game ever made, Capcom has let down our expectations by giving us a more scripted, more linear survival horror action game that will probably be forgotten like so many sequels that have gone the path of less resistance when it comes to game design. RE3 make feels more like a DLC than a full-blown game.
